Years ago, Rainbow Dash achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a Wonderbolt. She'd gone through the academy, been a staple of the main lineup and, eventually, earned the rank of Captain.

At 43 years of age, it's time for Rainbow to leave that dream behind, but not before she can dazzle the ponies of Cloudsdale one last time.

Spitfire has a call sign, just like every other Wonderbolt. However, she tries to keep hers a secret, and it's FAR worse than "Rainbow Crash."

Based on season 6, episode 7: "Newbie Dash."

Fair warning: Written in about an hour and a half and with minimal editing.

The events of the Wonderbolt Academy have played out and Rainbow Dash is in the stretch to achieving her dream but still has a hard time getting a certain erstwhile friend out of her mind. After taking a few minutes to contemplate things, she decides that she's been given enough second chances in her life to see to it that somepony else gets one as well.

Rated Teen for some language later on, though nothing extremely vulgar.

When Fluttershy went to bed, she was a normal mare. When she woke up, she could see numbers floating over everypony's heads. They were timers, each one counting down to some unknown event. Most ponies had timers that wouldn't end for years, some for many decades. But everypony had different numbers.

So why does Rainbow Dash's timer end in three hours?

When Spitfire, Soarin' and Misty go to judge the 'Best Young Flier' competition, Spitfire only expected to be bored to tears watching amateur fliers peruse their casual hobby; but things take an unexpected turn when two ponies fly onstage for the last performance. For the Wonderbolts, unexpected is usually a very, very bad thing.

"Every time these jokers get knocked out by a flailing unicorn or decide the best plan against a magic-sucking centaur is to fly towards his mouth, I'm the one who makes them look good anyway."

Publicity Stunt is the head of the Wonderbolts PR division. Her job isn't glamorous, or even easy, but it is one she is proud of. And once a week she gets to catch up Equestria's most famous flyers on rumors and news about them that show just how wild an imagination ponies can have.

An entry to Aragon's Comedy (Is Serious Business) Contest with the prompt "We Learned Something Newsworthy" and Manaphy's Wonderful Wonderbolts Contest.

Inspired by and the (unofficial) sequel to FanOfMostEverything's Team Cohesion.

Preread by GPizano and FOME himself.

Edit: Thanks to your efforts this story has now surpassed its rival. Huzzah!

Soarin bit his lip in annoyance. "That's blackmail."
Surprise smiled innocently. "Oh is it? I didn't realise!"

An opening of an art exhibition featuring the Wonderbolts premieres in Canterlot, drawing crowds of enthusiastic upper-crust ponies along with two much less enthusiastic Wonderbolts; Soarin and Surprise. Readying themselves in for a long and boring night of photos, autographs and hanger-oners, the unexpected arrival of a guest opens a door to Soarin's past; a door Surprise is all too happy to pry open a little further...

Long before she knew how to fly with thunder in her wake, in the early days before she learned how to properly use her wings at all, Spitfire knew two things: the sky was blue, and she did not belong in it.

Destiny had a different opinion.

My first piece of MLP:FiM fanfiction, released to commemorate one year of watching ponies.
