So the people who've actually read through my story have probably seen somewhere that I described Lilywater with probably one of the worst color combinations I've ever had the honor of witnessing. I figured that I might as well put out a picture for funsies (but also because I bloody love merponies and changelings). It only took about a day to draw and another day to digitize it, so it's fairly simple, but I like it, and it was never meant to be a super duper fancy piece. The design is heavily borrowed from the Sirens from the second EqG movies.
Oh sweet Celestia, this thing is huge. Any way to shrink this somehow?
I don't know if dA likes people direct-linking images hosted there, but this link is the smaller version there.
That said, I rather like her colors. I've seen far, far worse, mostly involving hot pink, lime green, and/or vivid red.
Ooh, that looks very nice. Something about magenta and green being complementary colours, perhaps? Anyway, the colour palette works.
Looks good.
It's wonderful.
For some reason, it seems like the color scheme works better with the fins than it would with mane and tail. Maybe it's because it's on a dark blue background?
She's totes adorbs!
Actually, she really is.
100 watts of color for a ten watt mind. She's perfect. Love her.
i think the colour scheme is great and i also think it would not work as well with a mane and tail great work

Sounds like a challenge.

To be fair, the colors aren't nearly as neon as I could have made them. I think blending the orange-gold and the magenta in addition to adding the darker outlines really helped to mesh the whole thing together.

With as bright as most of her colors were, I figured a darker background would help make everything pop out better, and it works well as negative space. Saturation on even more saturation usually never works for the most part. It could probably work as a mane if I kept the darker purple from the outlines on the fins to separate the mane from the body, but it'd be something I try when I turn Lilywater into an earth pony.

I would snuggle the shit out of that. Then again, I would also snuggle a bunch of things that other people wouldn't. If I could, I would be running around with a snake named Fluffy wrapped around my neck. I probably should be terrified if I found something that size with sharp, pointy teeth in my bathtub, but I can't imagine myself doing anything other than trying to pet it.
Now that I think about it, Lily would probably end up with a body and facial shape like Fleur if she were a pony. The Sirens from EqG already looked pretty draconic when I used them as references, and Lily's proportions would probably put her at around the same height as Cadance too. Definitely something to consider if I decide on doing another piece.
Aauuughghhhhghh cute things whhhyyyy

Better to use that energy to burn out your eyes rather than burn out her brains.
4085841 What brains?

So would I.
It's not just her form though. Her personality is just so sweet and innocent (at least from my perspective) that I'd feel pretty safe around her even in her natural form. Y'know?
Oddly enough, I've got a soft spot for siren-form Aria, though that may be partly due to her being the least-liked of the three sirens.

Yeah, the gradients helped a lot, as did the more muted green on the main body.
Open it up in MS Pant and resize it to shrink it. "Save as" another file. 10% should do it.
he color scheme is perfect for her
