Does anyone play Darktide? · 12:27pm February 29th
Just curious, does anyone here play Darktide? My group kinda dissolved and it's not as fun when playing solo anymore.
Reading order/list is on the profile page or here.

Do you by chance mean 40k?

Yes.
On occasion
I still want to get into the game, but... the mixed reviews has been stopping me from buying it from the start. Not to mention the price.
If I remembered correctly, there was also the issue with the anticheat too. Something to do with it accessing kernal level. I have this fear that the anticheat company gets compromised by a malicious party, which likely has access to us. They could brick any computer.
Lets just say that these companies doesn't really have a positive reception on steam.
...or was it Denuvo?
Plus... vermintide 1 and 2 felt lackluster. Which darktide gameplay loop kinda follows that root.
I did for a while when it first came out. I was super excited and it is what convinced me to get a new pc to run it. Unfortunately it did not hold my interest for too long given how poorly the launch went. It was just not anywhere near completion when they started doling it out. Been considering playing again some time to see if it has gotten much better, but I have not yet convinced myself to do so with all the other games out now.
I would probably be willing to give it a go again for some fun, but if you have been playing since launch I doubt I will be playing on the high difficulty you likely enjoy by now or that I would become part of a stable group to play super often.

As far as I heard, the original release was REALLY bad, but I've been playing since the major rework last fall and I've been enjoying it immensely. I'm not sure about the price but I got it super cheap. Like... 15E or something? Can't recall. It's definitely not priced like a AAA game.
DT is heavily moddable, so I really doubt that. It doesn't install a Chinese surveillance state on your computer like Genshin Impact or similar stuff.
Well yeah, it's an extraction shooter. Once you find your enjoyable build, it's about you getting better, not fake numbers going higher.
I roll lvl 4-5 missions which are daunting at first, but it's not the hardest possible thing. But it is a lot more fun without randoms who just rush ahead and either die or you get lucky and find one of the people who true solo 5s.
I have it on PC, my friend SoL convinced me to try it and Virmitide 2.
I wanted to play it more, but I'm a bit busy as of late. Haven't played it much at all and I'm still a bit of a noob in it and vermintide 2. Have you tried Helldivers yet? Surprisingly good, and that's coming from someone who has a bias against Sony.

I intend to try out HD2, but right now I'm waiting for a sale. From what I've seen, it's not that well optimized so I'm not sure how well my computer would do in a hectic situation. On top of that, there's the armor bug which should have been a day 1 patch, yet is still supposedly in the game.

What's your specs? I have an AMD rx6700xt gpu with a AMD Ryzen 5600x cpu and I have NO issues. My friend with a 1050 has issues... but that's a Nvidia 1050...
Armor bug doesn't hurt much. Even on higher difficulty. It just means light armor is objectively better right now because increased movement speed is helpful.

I bought a setup in the middle of graphics card shortage when cyberpunk 2077 came out. It works just fine for the very few new games I've played - Darktide, Rogue Trader, BG3. Other than that, I either play stuff from around 2000's or write, and google documents doesn't need a hardcore setup ,
Proc: i7 10700k 3.8GHz
RAM: 16Gb
GPU: nVidia geforce rtx 2070 super
Bad HDD, though. The only SSD I have is my system one.

Your GPU and CPU should be very close to mine in terms of performance.
If the game doesn't favor AMD for some reason, you should be fine. I say "should" because PC is rarely ever that simple. For instance, i saw some people on the AMD 7800 and 7900 GPU's report crashing a lot during the games launch. So it's a mixed bag.
In terms of gaming power though, I see no reason for you to have issues with HD2.
Also... you bought it DURING the GPU shortage? My condolences for your wallet...
Later I'll tell you how that went for me, it's a hell of a story of bad luck.

I just tried the tutorial and 2 solo basic mission and it runs fine. Unfortunately, there's no dedicated melee, so unlike in Darktide I suuuuuck. Oh well, I guess I'll have to split time between purging unclean heretics and spreading managed democracy to bugs.

Yes, gooOOOood...
The universe needs more managed democracy and less heretics.
GIVE FREEDOM TO ALL, AND GIVE ALL FOR FREEDOM!
before the enemy takes yours...
DEMOCRACY FOR ALL, AND ALL FOR DEMOCRACY!
rather they want it or not.

I need to apologize to you for the state of HD2... I did not predict Sony's profound stupidity... I am so sorry for my recommendation. Hopefully they fix things soon... but if they don't and it causes you issues, I will take responsibility for my part in convincing you to get it.

It's fine, just another reminder to only purchase what's published on GOG because that's the last site where you actually buy games, not just rent a licence to play something until a publisher decides otherwise. It's such a shitty situation, especially with how incredibly fun HD2 is, and the worst part is knowing that if the game wasn't that successful Sony wouldn't do this just to increase PSN signage and their stock value. Still, it's far from the first case where a good developer got their work ruined by a greedy publisher.
What genuinely pisses me off to no end, though, are braindead PS fans defending the decision with one single-braincell argument after another. "But it was fine when you we had to connect Microsoft accounts to play RDR2, huuh?" No, it fucking wasn't, that's the point, but you are using windows already and MS has all your personal data. "It only takes five minutes." Read the goddamn Sony TOS, if you even can read. Yes, it only takes five minutes to connect your steam account and sell all your info there to Sony, including your purchase and PAYMENT history which means last 4 digits of your credit card, its validity, and so on. The TOS also state that Sony will be training and using AI to monitor your chat AND VOICE CHAT and will ban you for swearing in any lobbies, even in full premades.
The post-refund window blocking of 50+ countries is just the cherry on top. The final nail in the coffin is that they sent their community manager to lie to the fans about how PSN signage was always in the HD2 TOS and they'Re just stupid they didn't read them, but thankfully internet doesn'T forget and someone pulled out a screenshot of the old TOS and the Sony fuckers did change it. This entire situation is just THE perfect example why the gaming industry is getting greedier and shittier every year, and it has little to do with the developers and all to do with publishers,
Sorry for the rant. The game got me and a couple of nice people together and we've had a lot of fun, which doesn't happen often for me since I usually just play singleplayer stuff from around 2000.

Well... I agree with absolutely almost ALL of that except one thing... I've seen some pretty greedy, stupid, and/or lying and deciteful developers too. And a lot of developers aren't what they used to be anymore.
