Phrases I Don't Like · 12:05pm February 11th
Those who know me well enough know that (you can thank my mother for it) I'm a bit... of a Grammar Nazi at times. A couple of phrases in particular that bug me are:
Neither Here nor There: It might not be the "there" you were looking for, but if it isn't "Here", then it has to be "There". If it was "neither here nor there", it'd be nowhere and not be worth mentioning at all.
Preferred rephrasing: There and Not Here.
Try And when you mean Try To:
Relatively self explanatory. You can go and/to do something, you can attempt to do something, but you can't try and do something. unless you mean "try, and..."
I see it altogether too often and it REALLY grinds my proverbial gears.
