A punishment long awaited

The town has had enough of the mane sixes reckless Destruction. They called a vote and now it is left up to the Princess to give Twilight the final Verdict.

(Pre-season 3)
After two years of the Mane sixes destruction on their town and lives, the nobles and citizens of Ponyville take a vote about what to do with them.

After much careful choosing it is left for the princess to give the final verdict on their fates.

The Punishments

In the center of ponyville there is a tree. This was not just any tree however but a tree said to have been enchanted by Celestia herself after a particularly good cider season. The nature of the enchantment was more of a fluke than anything given how much cider the Princess of the Sun had consumed that night but it did make the tree quite a hollow one. The tree then went from owner to owner until becoming the Golden Oaks Library, which now found itself under the possession of none other than the Personal student of the Princess who had first enchanted it.

It is here that the present time (Estimated around midnight) that we find 2 mares, one baby phoenix, an owl and a baby dragon. “Twilight I must offer you a choice,” Celestia whispered into her Students ear, “You six have caused quite a lot of damage to ponyville since you first moved in, for example a spell gone awry caused the town to be eaten by parasprites and a second caused the greatest medical emergency all because of a small childs toy,”.

Under the Solar princesses watchful gaze twilight whimpered“But Princess those were all accid-”

“SILENCE TWILIGHT,” Celestia Roared using the power of the canterlot voice, “Just let me finish, it does not matter the spirit that these events were intended you still hurt ponies and I could only stop you from being punished for so long but the town held a vote and it is left to me to damn you the choice upon which they agreed,”.

“Either all of you suffer as statues for 5 years or you alone take the curse of solitude within the moons embrace,” Celestia petered off quite dearly tried from having to give such a sentence again choosing a spot by the window to reflect on her mistakes off the past.

“How long?”, Twilight questions “And if I take this fate I have but one thing to ask, I want my friends to forget me so that they don’t have to go through my loss,” Hearing this the Solar diarch swivels around and answers “It would be for 10 years and I can grant that one request,”. Making a decision the Ever Faithful Element replies in a determined voice “Then let my memory be erased and my punishment given for I choose exile on the moon then make my friends suffer but one year of the slow torture you would be forced to give them,”.

With a slow, sad nod the Princess of Equestria fires a spell at her Most Faithful student. A spell that she has not used for a thousand years...

And so in a blinding flash of light, Twilight was whisked away to the moon and her memory erased from her friends minds. But if one were to look up at the moon after that night they would see a slight arrangement of craters forming the side of a unicorn's face.

The Moon

All Twilight saw was a blinding white flash as she started to weep, a blinding flash that took her away from all she ever loved and cared about for ten years. As the light faded she looked around and started to take in her surroundings, being the mare of science she was, she noticed three things off the bat. The first problem is that it was not dark which lead Twilight to assume that meant she at least had some heat from the sun. Another thing she noted was that she was in a large field, punctuated by rolling dunes of moon dust. The final thing she noted was that there was a cave to her right with pale white stalagmites that threatened to drop on any passing underneath. "Hold yourself together Twilight, at least we have shelter," Twilight thought to herself. She often found it easier to think in third person as it allowed closer inspections and helped to rule out some biased thoughts.

She shakily got to her feet and started to move hastily towards the cave, making sure to attempt break off a stalagmite in order to test whether her magic was working. To her great delight it was and she almost considered trying to teleport home. "No, bad twilight if I went home now the others would be punished and besides they wouldn't even remember me," However as she started top explore the cave she had to shake off the depressing thought as she saw a wide expanse of darkness lay beneath. Lighting it up with a candlelight spell she began a hasty descent making sure to smooth it out as she did so in order to have a way back up. "Think of it as a research opportunity, I mean who else gets to explore the moon and get back home guaranteed," This helped to bolster her spirits until she made her way down to the bottom of the cave. "Huh nothing here, well what did I expect actually some great fear wielding alien, HA that kind of thing only happens in comic books," and so she made her way back up to the surface of the moon.

Twilight had to admit it was kind of a surreal feeling to be the only thing in sight for miles and miles on end. "Well I guess I'm going to have to get used to it" she said aloud, lying down in the lunar dust and looking up at the expanse of Equestria as it turned thousands of miles away.

But if she could see sweet apple acres, she would see 5 mares busy preparing for a picnic, completely unknowing of who the mare in the moon was and what she had done for them. And as they leave laughing as they go, we can only hope that one night' they'll look up to that mysterious glowing orb and wonder, just who is the "Mare in the Moon".
