They're a bitch...
I can do this! Thought Rainbow Blitz, walking towards sugarcube corner where all of his best friends were. He was just about to open the door when he immediately chickened out.
He turned back around to face the now considerably further away door.
What am I scared about?! I'm the faster flyer in equestria and the most awesome stallion in it too! All I have to do is walk in there, say I'm gay, and then walk out!
His mind started to wander towards the best case scenarios. And the better than best case scenarios too in which a certain lavender librarian fell immediately in love with him and then they went home and got into bed and-
No! Bad Blitz! No lusting after the juicy, delicious flanks of your best friends!
He slapped himself out of his lust-induced trance and realized he had been drooling.
Not the best way to start things off...
He took a deep breath and steadied himself, walking closer to the door of the bakery. Shaking, he turned the door handle.
Stepping inside the bakery his nostrils were immediately assuaulted with the scent of icing and sugar.
All of Blitz's friends were sitting in a booth in the far corner of the bakery, secluded enough for a bit of privacy but not so far away as to ruin the atmosphere of the confectioners/café.
Elusive saw Blitz and broke into a grin, waving him over towards were they sat.
Blitz tried a shaky smile, at least trying to hide his nervousness.
He sat down next to Dusk Shine, the unicorn giving him a dazzling smile that sent him struggling not to blush.
For a while they talked about random things, gossip, mares, the new shop that had opened across the street. All the normal stuff.
All the while the twisting feeling in Blitz' gut grew as the realization of what he intended to do came crashing down on him.
After a while there was a lull in the conversation, the feeling in Blitz' gut grew tenfold as he realized that he would probably never get a better opportunity than this to come out.
"So, anypony got anything they want to get off their chest?" Asked Berry Bubble.
The feeling grew even more as Blitz was presented with an utterly perfect scenario for coming out. He steeled himself, clenching his teeth.
Blitz opened his mouth to say it.
"I-" He started but was cut off by Dusk. He closed his mouth.
"I-I do need to tell you guys something..." He said, looking completely nerve-wracked.
He's so adorable when he's nervous... Blitz thought, before realizing that was the way he was feeling earlier, and that it was a perfect scenario to say it. That only a fool would pass up.
He isn't
"It's just, you guys are my best friends and I've known you for so long, I feel like I need to tell you." Dusk chuckled. "Jeez, this is hard to do..."
He is!
"I-I'm gay..." Dusk said, wincing as the words came out of his mouth.
Blitz' jaw dropped, his eyes widened. He couldn't believe that the stallion of his dreams had just come out, in the same meeting that Blitz had intended to.
"I'm so happy for you!" Butterscotch squeed.
"Wonderful darling" Elusive exclaimed, throwing his arms around the bewildered unicorn.
"Can't say Ah expected that!" Said Applejack, wide eyed.
"This calls for a party!" Cried Berry, confetti shooting out from nowhere.
"No way..." Mumbled Blitz, still bewildered by the coincidence.
"What was that Blitz?" Asked Elusive, snapping Blitz out of his shock-induced trance.
"I-I uh... I mean I'm so happy for you! Takes a lot of courage to say that!" He said, eyes shifting from left to right.
"No time to chat! It's party time!" Berry yelled, pushing a hidden button in the wall and making confetti and balloons rain down upon the unsuspecting customers of sugarcube corner. Some of the tables flipped over and, in a shocking disregard for the laws of physics, some punch bowls appeared from the reverse, with not a drop spilled.
Everyone looked at Berry with shocked expressions after his mind-bending display.
He just shrugged.
"Gravity's for chumps"
Blitz lay in bed, contemplating the day's events. The stallion of his dreams had just said he was gay, at exactly the same time Blitz himself was intending to.
He stared intently at a single spot in the ceiling, trying to find the meaning of life in the cloud that made up his home.
He has contemplated still coming out after Dusk had, but he had eventually decided that the moment was gone.
And it's definitely not just because you're a little chicken that wouldn't have gone through with it anyway
He shook away the thought as just his tired mind getting to him.
As he lay in bed though the thought kept coming back to him.
He replayed it in his head again and again until, finally, he realized it was right. Blitz wouldn't have done it anyway, not in front of so many ponies. He had almost chickened out going into the building he was supposed to be doing it in.
He turned over to look at his bedside clock. 11:46 it said. He would still be up, he was always up late.
He rolled out of bed and over to his window, he opened it and leapt out, his wings flinging open and catching in the cold air.
He descended in spirals down to the great oak below...
Blitz knocked on the door of the library, he was sure Dusk was awake inside, the lights were all still on.
He heard somepony shuffling about inside and a latch click, the door opened slightly and he saw Dusk peek out from behind it.
Once he saw it wasn't some mad axe-wielding murderer he opened it and looked at Blitz with a grin.
His hair was completely mussed up and sticking out at strange angles, along with the elated grin there was only one way to describe him. Adorable
"Hey Blitz!" He said cheerfully, inviting the blue pegasus inside. "What brings you here so late at night?"
Blitz shrugged and sat down on one of the couches in the purple unicorn's living room.
"I dunno, I was just bored I guess. And you're the only one of us other than me that actually stays up late all the time." he explained, inspecting one of the books that Dusk had been reading. 'String theory for dummies'. He picked it up and looked through some of the pages before quickly putting it back down again, he didn't even know what a 'quark' was let alone how many of them were in an atom.
Giving up on his rudimentary understanding of physics he looked up at the lilac unicorn across from him, who let out a short giggle at his attempt at understanding advanced particle physics. Blitz' heart skipped a beat at the sound, his cheeks starting to heat up.
"You alright there Blitz?" Dusk asked, worried about Blitz' uncharacteristic demeanor of shyness and nervousness.
"I-uh, yeah." Was all Blitz managed to get out.
Dusk looked at him with a suspicious expression on his face.
"Alrighty then!" He said, flopping down onto the couch next to Blitz.
"Anything you wanted to talk about in particular?" Dusk asked, looking into Blitz' maroon eyes deeply with his purple ones.
Blitz gulped as he steeled himself for what felt like the thousandth time that day.
"Uh, yeah actually. I was thinking about earlier. And... A-and..." Blitz stammered, beginning to lose his nerve.
"Yeah?" Dusk asked, a comforting and affectionate look on his face.
"AndIwaswonderingifyoucouldgivemesomeadvice!" Blitz forced out.
Dusk's eyes widened as he realized what was happening, the blushing, the nervousness, the shyness, and now this. A part of him wanted to giggle like a schoolfilly, but he repressed that urge. Instead tackling Blitz to the ground and pressing his lips to the surprised cyan stallion's, hard.
It would have been impossible to say that Blitz didn't enjoy the kiss, it was one of the best things he had ever experienced. He was just surprised is all.
When Dusk finally stopped his assault he looked at the surprised stallion underneath him, panting.
"I love you too, Blitz." He said, pressing his lips to the stallion beneath him once again.
Fireworks went off in Blitz' head as he heard those words. He pushed back against the purple lips touching his. When the kiss finally ended Blitz was left to look up at the most amazing stallion in Equestria, his purple locks framing his face and a joyous smile gracing his face.
Blitz finally let the surprised expression on his face morph into a goofy grin and he pulled his new coltfriend in for a kiss.
