Chapter 1-Falling from the Moon

I opened my eyes and yawned as we fell. I turned and glanced at my sleeping friend, upside down and snoring. I gave a smile and looked down. Still nothing but darkness below.

Oh yeah. My name is Broken Hope and if you didn't catch it before, my friend's name is Derpy Hooves. We were both from Equestria, but she came from the original country. I was the bound consciousness of the Elements of Harmony, created when Princess Celestia went mad and split Equestria into seven dimensions. Each one of them was under control of one of the Bearers, but they were corrupted. Our first glimpse of that was in Twilight's dimension, where she almost killed the two of us several times. In the end, we survived.

The two of us didn't know how we could move on, until Princess Luna appeared and created a black hole in front of us. She called a moon portal, and said that they were special connections though space. She said that they would keep us safe until I shifted the bottom of it and we would drop into the next dimension.

At this point, I was finally well-rested in what seemed like days. The portal walls were transparent, so I could see the stars outside. Derpy continued to snore beside me and I was content to leave her alone.

That is, until the portal walls started to shake around us. My eyes widened as the stars started to disappear from around us.

“Derpy!” I shouted. “Derpy, wake up!”

The gray pegasus twitched and rolled over, blinking. “Uh, are we there yet?”

I glanced downwards and saw a glimpse of light. “We might be. The thing is, I didn't use my power.”

Derpy finally saw the gravity of the situation and shook her head, trying to wake herself up. “What?! I thought the princess said we'd only leave these portals whenever you activated them!”

The light started to grow brighter. “That's what I thought.”

Derpy glanced downwards. “Then's what's going on?!”

We continued to fall down towards the light. I tried to summon my power, but nothing sparked. “Nothing for it, Derpy. We're falling in there.”

Derpy was slightly panicking. “We'll be fine, right? I mean, we should be landing in the next dimension.”

“Oh we'll be landing in the next dimension.” I said, gulping. “I can't guarantee that we're going to be where we're supposed to be though.”

“Why did the princess have to pick ME to come with you?” Derpy mock complained. “She could just as easily chosen somepony else.”

I grinned. “Well, if you hadn't come, then who else would leap off a train and stab a giant robot in the eye?”

Derpy rolled her eyes. “Well, I supposed that nopony else could have done that.”

The light started to glow as bright as the sun. “Get ready! This might hurt!”

“Hurt?! I thought it was supposed to be painless!” Derpy yelped.

I simply narrowed my eyes. “Well, there's a first time for everything.”

At that, the light filled up the whole tunnel, blinding us.

. . .

“Uh...let's never do that again.” I heard Derpy's voice from beside me. Groaning, I rolled around and looked straight up into a blue sky.

“Well,”I said, “At least it's not gray like in Twilight's realm.”

Derpy was pacing back and forth, worried. “Broken, take another look at the sky.” I took a closer look and saw that it was a dark blue, like it was about to be nighttime.

“So it's almost night.” I said. “What's the problem?”

Derpy turned and looked at me. “Broken. It's noon here. Why is it almost dark?”

I shot up to my hooves, realizing the situation. “Alright Derpy, your gift from Luna. Tell me what you got.”

The two of us were a fair distance from Ponyville, which thankfully looked normal. As we walked, Derpy told me everything Luna's gift gave here.

“Alright, apparently Princess Luna actually exists in this world.” Derpy said. “I think that Princess Celestia might also, but it's hazy. Also, the princess is...married?!”

I tripped over my own hooves at that statement. “What?! To who?”

Derpy shut her eyes. “It's a greyish earth pony with an orange mane. His name is...Quicksilver.”

I ran that though my head. “Alright, what do we know about him?”

“His mother was killed by timberwolves..” Derpy said. “He was a member of Luna's Royal Guard for about five years before he saved Luna from dying at the hooves of Celestia.” I frowned as she continued. “After that battle, they started being a couple for a year or so before they married.”

“Anything else?” I asked.

“I don't know if Princess Celestia is still alive.” Derpy said. “Quicksilver has a few special powers, such as being able to fight hoof-to-hoof and...run as fast as Rainbow Dash can fly?!”

I did a double-take. “What?! How does that work?!”

As we neared Ponyville, Derpy shook her head. “I really don't know. Maybe we just need to stay away from him.”

I opened my mouth, but just then the ground shook, throwing us to the ground. Just as quickly as it started, it stopped. “That's like what happened in the portal!” I gasped. “Come on, let's get to Ponyville!”

. . .

The two of us dashed into town, and as we skidded to a stop I realized that I didn't have a horn. I was an earth pony, which made me worry. Derpy hadn't seemed to notice, her focusing on seeing if everything was okay with the town.

“It...SEEMS alright.” Derpy nervously said.

I sat next to her. “I don't know Derpy. Remember what Luna said, we won't be safe until we've fixed every dimension. And now we aren't even in the dimension that we're supposed to be in.”

As to not draw attention to ourselves, we quietly made our way throughout the town. Passing ponies along the way, I paid attention to their faces and body language. They didn't seem upset, or unhappy like in Twilight's realm.

Derpy also seemed a little agitated by the fact that she didn't know what was wrong. “Broken, if we can't figure out the problem, we're stuck here.”

“I know.” I said. “We need to figure out what to focus on. And in my opinion, it's what we don't know.”

Derpy tilted her head. “What are you talking about?”

“That Quicksilver pony.” I said. “You didn't remember him, and I have no idea who he is. It's possible that we were thrown out of the seven dimensional area. We need to find him and figure out how much of an impact he really has.”

“What if he's just Luna's husband?” Derpy said.

Once again, I was about to answer, before we heard a ruckus by Sugarcube Corner. Without a second thought, we dashed over there.

When we arrived, we saw about five or six members of the Royal Guard. “Luna's guard is in town. Maybe we could ask them for help.” Derpy said.

“I don't think they can really help us..” I started, before they started yelling.

“Enemy of Equestria! Give yourself over to Quicksilver's Royal Guard and nopony will be put in harms way!” They yelled to nopony in particular.

Derpy shook her head in disbelief. “Wait, QUICKSILVER's guard?”

“Oh boy...” I had a bad feeling, and it got worse when a pony clad in purple and wearing a blue cape appeared in the midst of all the guards.

“Hey! It's Mare Do Well!” Derpy exclaimed. “That's really just one of our friends!”

I took a closer look, then paled. “Since when did any of your friends have a horn AND wings?”

As we watched, the guards started attacking the pony, who seemed unable to really defend itself. Derpy and I looked at each other, nodded, sighed and jumped into the fight.

Derpy gave a mighty flap of her wings, carrying her over a guard. As she flew over him, she grabbed his horn and flung him towards a building. I dashed forward and headbutted on of them in the side.

“Who are you?” The mare asked, glancing at the other guards.

As I felt my familiar power flow though my body I smiled. “A friend. We'll take it from here.” One of the unicorn guards rushed me with a sword levitating in front of him. Shifting the sword, I grabbed the tip in my teeth, making sure to shuffle backwards as he kept running. I bent the sword and released it, smacking him in the head. As he released it, I got a firmer clamp on the sword, jumped back and threw it at him, making sure to turn the sword to stone as it clocked him in the head. Instantly, he collapsed to the ground.

The last guard dove at me, catching me off guard and picking me up in his hooves. “Hey! We don't know each other that well yet!” I yelled. He frowned and flew higher. Deciding there was nothing for it, I took a deep breath. I channeled my power though my voice, screaming so loud I burst his eardrums. He released me and clapped his hooves to his ears in pain.

In the meantime I was falling to the ground. I used my reality shifting to turn the ground underneath me into a giant marshmallow, cushioning my fall. The last guard started stalking towards me but was taken out when Derpy threw a bowling ball at him. I was able to shift it so that it was made out of wood, but it still burst on impact, knocking him out cold.

I struggled out of the marshmallow and glared at Derpy. “A bowling ball?!”

She looked sheepish. “It worked, didn't it?”

I was about to berate her more, but just then the strange mare appeared in front of us. “Thank you. I would have lost if I had tried to fight them. Come with me, we don't have much time.”

“Wait.” I said. “Who are you?”

The mare took her hood off. “I am Princess Celestia, former ruler of Equestria. And from what I just saw, I could really use your help.”

“With what?” Derpy asked.

Celestia sighed. “Saving my sister.”
