A winged being appears, and the royalty knows him! Who is he, and what does he want? What is Shadow?

During the finale of the Changeling Invasion, a winged being appears, cutting down the insect-like creatures. Strangely enough, the princesses seem to know him...one rather intimately. After the removal of Chrysalis, the person, now known as Mystrael, the God of War, tells the gathered ponies about a coming Darkness, one that threatens the very peace that pervades Equestria...one that he wasn't able to stop alone. With the powers of the royalty and the Elements, will the God of War be able to prevent this Shadow from covering the peaceful land?

Finale of the Changelings

-Okay, so...first story. Read it and weep, I could say. Read through intensely, skim it, whatever...just be sure to comment when you're done! Feedback is very much appreciated, while flames are very much not. Have fun!

Canterlot had never seen battle so fierce since the days of Nightmare Moon a thousand years ago. Changelings invaded, destroying parts of the mountainside city and wreaking havoc. Their queen, Chrysalis, stood in the throne room slash wedding chapel as she laughed maniacally.

"You fools...you truly thought you could take on the Changeling Army! Ha! No, we will win, and we will feed for eternity! I, Queen Chrysalis..." she trailed off, eyes narrowing as she took in the odd sounds coming from outside. It sounded almost like...excited shouting? That was peculiar, for certain. Walking slowly over to one shattered window, the Queen stared out into the crowd of changelings, narrowed eyes widening in shock as she took in the sight, not noticing the crowd of ponies behind her, not limited to the mane six, Celestia and Luna, and a Royal Guard Captain. Far below, an odd...being, attacked the army of changelings, tearing through them.

"Hahaha! I haven't had this much fun in decades! Come on!" the thing yelled as it attacked another with it's claws. They tore effortlessly through the changeling's neck, continuing onward to bury in a second's side, blood spraying with abandon. The new arrived ripped out the claws, and stared up at Chrysalis, smirking evilly. Raising the demonic talons to his mouth, he licked the black blood off the tip of one, grinning at her repulsed expression. He began to attack more changelings as the Queen turned, eyes narrowing once more as she took in the view of Cadance and Shining Armor, horns glowing with a pulsating light.

Adopting an "Oh fuck" expression, the Queen attempted to run to the throne room doors, only to find herself blocked by a group of ponies including the now recovered Celestia and Luna. She facehoofed, letting out a deep sigh. The magic erupted, love from Cadance mixing with that from Shining Armor, fueling his shield spell. It shot into existence, throwing the Changelings from Canterlot...strangely, with the exception of Chrysalis.

Mystrael craned his neck up to gaze at the tall tower, smirking. Her army was gone...now she's all mine. Wincing slightly as large wings burst from his back in a shower of ethereal feathers, the glossy appendages flexed in the bright sunlight. Bowing his head, the man shot into the sky, a slight trail of shadow following behind.

Chrysalis growled as she took in the sight of all the ponies before her. Not bowing before her as she'd hoped the day would go, oh no...they were restraining her. Their attention was diverted by a loud sound at the shattered window, the figure from below now standing just inside the tower, half hidden by shadow. Stepping forward, the wings folded behind him as he walked. Most of the ponies simply had a blank expression, while a few like Celestia and Chrysalis wanted to facehoof. Luna...Luna was enraged, for some odd reason.

"You!" she shouted, rushing over. Her form shimmered halfway, turning into a creature much like the new arrival. As she reached him, she lashed out with a slap, snapping his head to the side. When he turned back to her, she kissed him fiercely, mouths smashing together in a frantic connection. Luna stepped back, staggering slightly. The rest of the crowd finally got a decent look at the man.

He was tall, taller than Celestia, but lean, lithe like a panther. The toned muscles showed strength and agility, a constant battle-readiness. His pale skin contrasted with the vivid violet of his eyes, cast into shadow by waist-length black hair. He was shirtless, revealing a tattooed torso and arms, the latter which was covered from elbow to fingertip by clawed black metal gauntlets. The pants he wore went to mid-shin, reaching past the tops of his knee-high black leather boots. Overall, he looked dangerous...but intriguing...enticing even. Like a predator ready to pounce...

"Really, Luna? You couldn't have waited until everyone was gone?" a melodic voice asked. Collectively, the ponies turned to look at the speaker, a small gasp letting out as they saw the Princess's form. Celestia was not the white alicorn they knew, no...now she was somewhat shorter than the new person, with multicolored hair that hung down to the small of her back, the single eye still obscured. She was covered with a white dress, the golden heels, necklace, and tiara replacing her regalia. Luna was similar, but still widely different. Shorter than Celestia, she was, height-wise, the smallest of the three. Her shoulder-length black hair fell across her face, teal eyes shadowed by light makeup. A smirk played across her lips as she observed the man watching her. She wore black cargo shorts, black running shoes with crescent moons on the side, and a tight black tank top emphasizing her not too inconsiderable bust.

"No, Celly, I'm afraid I couldn't...not this time. Just wait until they're gone...you sure you don't want to go with them? It has been a long time, after all..." Luna trailed off suggestively, eyebrow cocked. Celestia simply rolled her eyes, rubbing the bridge of her nose. "But if you want...you could stay, I suppose.."

"Luna! For the last time, no. Not now, maybe not ever.

"Maybe not?"

"I've seen him. I make no promises."

"Um...Princess?" Twilight Sparkle asked tentatively. Celestia moved with a swirl of her dress to kneel beside her, nonchalantly raising a hand to rub the unicorn's ears. Unconsciously, Twilight pushed her head into the Princess's hand, leading Celestia to laugh softly. A gentle smile crossing her lips, she replied,

"Yes, my ever-so-faithful student?"

"How...how did you do the changing thing?"

"The 'changing thing'? My, Twilight, surely your vocabulary isn't failing you now of all times..."

"The...whatever it was. You doing that is interrupting my thinking processes."

"Alright, alright. I'll stop." Celestia smirked as her hand left her student's ears, causing the unicorn to sigh quietly. "The change, shift, transformation, whatever you wish to call it, was actually created by our friend over there, Luna's...coltfriend, I guess you could say. It changes one from a pony form to a 'human' form, but you retain your abilities. For example, I'm still able to raise the sun, Rainbow Dash would still be able to fly and do a Sonic Rainboom, and you can still do magic. To perform it...you simply have to want to. You must want to change into the different form, and to return you simply want to be a pony again. It's that simple."

"I see..."

"Just for the record, Twilight, I find the human form to be so, so much easier than a pony, even an alicorn, form. The things we can do in this form seem to be endless..." Celestia said, eyes staring off into the distance. Twilight seemed slightly disturbed by the way her mentor had spoken, the suggestive trail at the end...it was odd. So very, very, odd...

"Ahem! Have you all forgotten about me sitting here?" the Changeling Queen interrupted. Mystrael glared from behind Luna, his wings flaring angrily behind him, the massive black appendages casting a thick shadow over the insect-like creature.

"Yes, yes I had, thank you very much." Mystrael said irritably, growling. She simply laughed, firing a control spell, much like the one that she cast on Shining Armor, toward him. Releasing a hand from Luna's waist as it neared, he slapped it away with a gauntleted hand, causing it to hit the wall. Stepping back from the shorter girl, Mystrael rushed over to the Changeling, the sheer speed making it appear as though he teleported. Slamming her against the wall with one hand, he held the creature by the throat. "Just so you know, my name is Mystrael, the God of War." Roaring, he threw Chrysalis through a stained glass window, shattering it and throwing her outside. Smirking, he ran through the open space, flaring his wings in the air, swiftly sweeping over to the hovering insect-like pony. Growling, he attacked, giving no respite between hits. The claws and sharp metal carved cuts and gouges through her, black blood flowing freely. Mystrael shot into the sky above her as the Changeling Queen panted wearily, barely having time to breathe until he crashed into her, smashing Chrysalis against the broken pavement below. He leaned down, whispering in her ear.

"Don't fuck with me. Don't fuck with Equestria. There's a reason why I'm the God of War...and why it hasn't had one in a thousand years. Got it, bitch?"

Standing slowly, he spread his wings dramatically and flew back to the tower, showering ethereal feathers with each beat. Stepping through the destroyed window, he winced preemptively as Celestia stalked over to him, teeth gritted. Her arm flew forward in a powerful slap as pain erupted from his cheek. Mystrael was pretty damn sure he'd heard his neck snap as it connected.

"That. Was. My. Favorite. Window!" she shouted, the volume rattling the windows that were still intact.

"Calm down, Tia. I'm the one who still uses the Royal Canterlot Voice, remember?" Luna said as she lounged across the room in a couch that had inexplicably appeared. Celestia strongly suspected that either Luna or Pinkie Pie were practitioners of Chaos Magic, as both seemed to be able to pull things from absolutely nowhere. Both even gave the same response when asked, a one word answer of "Hammerspace." "Now, if you'll excuse Mystrael and I, we've about a thousand years to catch up on...in both ways." Rushing out of the room with Mystrael's hand firmly in hers, she slammed the doors shut behind them. Celestia facepalmed for the third time that day as less that five minutes later an erotic shout echoed through the corridors into the throne room.

"That wasn't...surely not..." Rarity began, an unsure look in her eyes. Rainbow Dash snickered from behind her hoof.

"Yeah, Rares. You just heard Myst fucking the Princess. We all did."

"Rainbow Dash! How simply uncouth of you! Could you not think of a better term than that vulgar word?" Rarity asked irritably. Fluttershy shrank back, muttering, 'we should probably get back to Ponyville...or the wedding. Whichever you want first.'

"Yes, Fluttershy. Whenever my sister and Mystrael are done with their...activities...we will have the wedding. I see that Cadance and Shining Armor want to." Celestia said softly. Her visible eye twitched noticeably as the aforementioned sister and friend stepping through the doors, one looking impeccable as always, and the other looking rather freshly ravished. Not who you would expect, no...Mystrael was the impeccable one. Luna's shirt was wrinkled, shoes missing, and had what could only be described as 'sex hair'. "Really...why? Why me, why now?" Celestia muttered.

"Well!" Luna said brightly. "On with the wedding, I suppose?"

Celestia simply facepalmed for the fourth time that day.
