An eager, lavender filly jumped around the house giggling, "Mommy, mommmmmmy! Today's the day, today's the day!" she cried with excitement.

Twilight Velvet smiled at her daughter's enthusiasm, "Now Twilight, remember, we have to be quiet at the library," she said.

Twilight gave a serious look, "No funny business."

Mrs. Sparkle laughed. She had told her daughter that a day before when she had announced they were going to the library. Twilight had read all the books in the house and had begun to get bored. Her foalsitter, Cadence, brought over books, but none seemed to interest Twilight. Mrs. Sparkle decided Twilight was at the age where she could handle taking care of a book. So, while her husband and her son, Shining Armor, were out getting Shining new dress pants, (the old ones somehow set on fire in what Shining called a "freak accident"... He should never have been playing with that fire spell), Mrs. Sparkle was taking Twilight to the library.

"Yes Twilight, no funny business," Mrs. Sparkle said with a chuckle, "Be on your best behavior."

Twilight tried to salute her mother the way Shining Armor had taught her, but she became unsteady and fell over with a giggle, "Yes ma'am!" she said, getting up off the ground.

"Good! Now then my little Sparkle, off we go!" Mrs. Sparkle said, picking her daughter up with a simple levitation spell, and placing the filly on her back. "To the library!"

Mrs. Sparkle walked out of her home, bouncing Twilight gently on her back. Shutting the door behind her she trotted with a smile as her daughter began to speak.

"Mommy, there are gonna be so many books there! How many did you say there were? 100?" 100 was the largest number Twilight knew.

"Well, this is the Canterlot public library... I'd say about... 1,000? Maybe more?" Mrs. Sparkle replied, knowing the number would make Twilight very happy.

"Wow! 1,000? I read once that Celestia has a whole library, just for her!" Twilight said, her eyes shining just from thinking of all the books.

"109,436 to be exact," Mrs. Sparkle said.

"Wow! That's so many!" Twilight gasped, "Do you think I could read that many books?"

"Hmmm... Well maybe, it would take a little bit of time... Oh look! We're here Twilight!" Mrs. Sparkle said happily.

They were indeed in front of the Canterlot public library. The building was very large, shaped like a sun for Celestia. There were many books, from Harry Trotter to the complete works of Star Swirl the Bearded. Yes, the Canterlot library had many books on various subjects, Twilight would find everything she needed here.

Twilight jumped off her mother's back, "Yesyesyesyesyesyes! We'reeeee here!" she said with joy.

"Remember Twilight n-" Mrs. Sparkle sighed as her daughter ran into the library, "No funny business..."

-------

Twilight ran into the library and straight into a librarian.

"O-oh, sorry mi-" Twilight began.

"Shh!" the librarian said, interrupting Twilight.

"I-I didn't mean t-" Twilight started again.

"Shhh!" the librarian said again.

"I was only trying t-" Twilight gulped.

"SHHHHHH!" the librarian hissed.

Twilight squeaked and ran off, she kept on running until she found another librarian, "M-miss librarian? C-can I have help finding a book?" Twilight asked quietly.

The mare turned around, "Oh, hello little filly! Help finding a book...? Hmmm, well, the foals' section is over there," the librarian pointed towards a colorful wall with a large bookshelf filled with foals' books, "Would you like me to help?"

Twilight nodded and blushed, she wasn't exactly good at talking to other ponies, and the first librarian had scared her a bit, "I-I uhm... Y-yes please..."

"I'm Miss Maroon by the way, now then let's see what book to get..." Miss Maroon said, guiding Twilight over to the books.

Twilight scanned the books, reading each title, "Cats, Nope. Dogs, boring. History of Equestrian Magic, du- hang on a second!"

Miss Maroon smiled, "Would you like that one?"

"Yes please!" Twilight smiled as Miss Maroon pulled the book out using magic. She handed the book over to Twilight who took it carefully. Just then Mrs. Sparkle ran in, tripping over a chair.

"Twilig- Ah!" Mrs. Sparkle yelled as she fell over, "Where have you been little filly?!"

"Shhhhh!" came the hiss of a librarian who had heard Mrs. Sparkle yell.

Twilight jumped over to her mother, "Mommy, mommy, I found a book!"

Mrs. Sparkle got up and brushed herself off, she looked to Miss Maroon, "Thank you for helping her find a book."

Miss Maroon smiled, "No problem madam." She laughed as Mrs. Sparkle picked up Twilight, telling her daughter about how she was supposed to stay with her mother. When Mrs. Sparkle wasn't looking Twilight waved to Miss Maroon and mouthed the words, "Thank you".

-----

Twilight jumped around her mother who held the library book firmly with magic.

"Moooommmmy, can I please have the book, pretty pleasssseee?" the impatient filly asked.

"I don't know, can you?" Mrs. Sparkle said, chuckling at her daughter's impatience.

"May I? May I please have the book?" Twilight asked as she tried to tackle the book out of the air.

"When we get home Twilight, we're almost there," Mrs. Sparkle replied, "You're just as impatient as your father..."

The two soon arrived at the house to see that Night Light and Shining Armor were already home.

"Twily!" Shining said with a smile, "How's my favorit-"

"Shiny! Help, the evil changeling won't give me my book!" Twilight said, pointing to her mother.

Shining walked over to the "changeling" and smiled, "Mrs. Changeling! I must ask you to give my maiden her book back!"

Mrs. Sparkle laughed and handed the book over to Shining then walked over to Mr. Sparkle.

Twilight tackled her brother, snatching the book and ran into her room.

"Ow... Twily has some strength..." Shining Armor groaned as he got up.

------

Twilight ran into her room and shut the door behind her. She picked up Smarty Pants in her mouth and set him on the bed.

"Smarty! I got a book! Looky, it's about magic!" Twilight announced to her doll.

She jumped on the bed beside him and opened the book. The pages were very old and could rip easily. Twilight noticed this and carefully turned the page, "Mommy said I had to be careful..."

Twilight began to read the book and smiled as she learned. She saw the basics on how to do a levitation spell and concentrated carefully on a picture.

"Juuust gotta be careful... Careful..." Twilight mumbled picking up the picture with magic. The picture moved slightly before it all together set on fire.

"AH, WHAT?! HOW DOES THAT EVEN WORK?!" Twilight screamed, running over and pouring a glass of water on the fire. She sighed before turning back to the book.

"Okay, let's try this again..." Twilight mumbled, trying to pick up the book with magic. The book floated up in the air before slamming against the wall and flopping forward.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no!" Twilight cried, running over to the book. She was supposed to be careful! This was her first library book! Maybe just one more try wouldn't be that bad...

Twilight levitated the book into the air with a smile, "I... Can.... Do this!"

The book didn't think so however and exploded leaving just dust, the dust fell onto the bed in a small pile. Twilight twitched and screamed loudly.

"OH MY CELESTIA, MOM'S GONNA KILL ME! NONONONONO!" Twilight screamed, running over to the pile of dust, "Turn back into a book! Go back, redo redo!"

Twilight fell over on the pile with a sob, "I'm gonnnnna die!" she cried into the pile.

Just then Mrs. Sparkle walked into the room, "Twilight, what's with all the ye- Dear Celestia! What did you do to your book?!"

Twilight tried to explain but her sobs interrupted, "I-I... I t-tried... L-levitation spell!" Twilight cried.

Mrs. Sparkle picked up the dust with magic and sighed. She preformed a spell and the dust was returned to it's book form.

"Twilight... Look, I'm not mad at you, accidents happen, but you ought to be more careful with books! Books are like ponies, they have little lives!"

Twilight looked at her mother with a confused expression, "But it's a book."

"Just pretend it's a pony."

"But it's a book!"

"Okay, so this book, we have to be careful with. This time you were very lucky that I came in to help, the book most likely would have unable to be... Well, a book." Mrs. Sparkle explained.

"So... You aren't mad? Are you?" Twilight asked with a sniffle.

"Of course not silly filly! It was just an accident. Though, you did beat your brother in setting things on fire. Now come have dinner." Mrs. Sparkle said smiling.

"Mommy?" Twilight asked once they were both seated at the table.

"Yes Twilight?"

"Can we got to the library again tomorrow?"

Woo! I wrote a story, in under an hour! How amazing! Anyways, yes, I wrote a fic about something very simple and or boring. This is what happens when ponies and school combine.
