A normal day in Ponyville is about to be disturbed when a strange creature comes from out of nowhere. At first he seems to be friendly and can be trusted, but something is bothering him. The death of someone close or somepony. Celestia sense a new threat from an ancient enemy, something Luna isn't aware off. Is the arrival of this unknow creature a coincidence with this new threat or not? But one thing is certain, he's the only one who can save Equestria... or destroys it.
It was a sunny day in Ponyville, a couple clouds were dangling in the sky and the birds were singing. Twilight was on her way to see Applejack and walked through the apple trees. she looked up in the sky, noticing the clouds and sighed with a smile. "Rainbow Dash is probably taking a nap... again."
When she came closer to Sweet Apple Acres she saw Applejack bucking some trees. She didn't know that Twilight was standing nex to her "Good morning Applejack." Just before Applejack kicked the tree she looked up and saw Twilight "Huh? Oh, hello Twi. How ya doing? Still studying?" she asked with a smile.
"Yeah well..." Twilight scrached her manes "I have a favor to ask. You see, I've been studying so hard that I need your help a bit." She looked at the orange mare with a shy smile. Applejack knew where this was going and looked back at Twilight without any emotions "You want me to help cleaning up yer library again, don't you?"
"Hehe... yes. Only if you have the time, of course." Applejack sighed "Look Twi, Ah really wanna help, but Rainbow and I... well we've gotten ourself into a fight yesterday." Twilight looked up suprised. "It isn't bad, we only argued a bit." she continued.
Twilight was curious. "Why did you two argue?" "Oh, nothing important. She was just bragging how wonderful fast she was." Applejack said sarcastic. Twilight chuckled a bit "That's Rainbow alright. And let me guess, you said you were faster?" Applejack nodded proudly "Ah sure did." "So, how did it ended?" Twilight asked with a curious grin. "Well... we both agreed to race against each other today."
"Again with the physical competition?" Twilight rolled her eyes away. "Don't worry, sugarcube. We won't hurt ourself. It's just a friendly competition." "I hope that Rainbow Dash thinks the same. Don't you think she would cheat." Twilight asked. "Hey, who said I would cheat?" Rainbow Dash was standing behind her. Twilight jumped screaming in the air and landed nex to Applejack
Rainbow Dash laughed hard on the ground "Hahahaha, sorry Twilight, but honestly, you kinda deserved it. Hehehe!" "Alright, Ah think she had enough for today" Applejack smiled and put her hoof on Twilight's shoulders. She looked at Rainbow Dash getting up. "So, you ready for yer defeat, RD?"
"Hold on a sec. Let's make this silly competition more interesting" Rainbow Dash was looking at Applejack with a grin, but her attention went to Twilight shortly after "You wanna help?"
Twilight stepped back from the two mares "Oh no, do not involve me into this." "C'mon sweetie, we might need a referee." Applejack looked back at Rainbow Dash "What ya have in mind?"
"A bet." Rainbow Dash walked around Applejack "If I win, I can have five barrels of cider next cider season, for free." Applejack looked down and put her hoof on her chin "Hmm. alright." She looked at Rainbow Dash with an evil smile "But if ya lose, ya won't fly for a week." Rainbow Dash was shocked, her mouth fell open.
"A... a week?" she startled a bit. "Yes ma'am." "You mean seven days?" Applejack nodded again and pointed her hoof at Rainbow Dash to seal the deal. "But what about the weather? Somepony need to clear the sky. "Ah'm pretty sure Ponyville has a spare weather captain." Rainbow Dash started to think "Fine, you're on. Now let's race."
Right before they agreed Applejack pulled back her hoof "Oh, one more thing, if you use your wings during the race you'll lose." "What, that's not fair. Can I help it that i'm born with these." Rainbow dash showed her wings in anger.
Applejack smiled at the frustraded mare. Rainbow Dash calmed down "Ok, ok. No wings. I won't need them." With that, they both Hoof-Bumped each other.
"So, where will the race take place?" Applejack asked? "Oh don't worry I have everything planned." Rainbow Dash showed Applejack a piece of paper she hid under her wings. "This is the route we'll take." she mumbled while holding the map in her mouth.
"Woohoow, that's a race alright." Applejack chuckled when she saw the route, but she noticed a pathway close to some cliffs. "Don't you think that area is a little bit dangerous, RD?" "Nah, we'll be just fine." Rainbow Dash said confident.
Twilight was getting a little impatient "Look guys, I realy want to help but I can't play the referee. I need to clean up the library."
"You know, we have a bet." Rainbow Dash droped the map and ignored Twilight "We know where we're going, but we still need a finish line." Applejack looked at Twilight "Ah know. The first pony reaching Twilight's library wins the race. You can go to yer library, Rainbow and I will arrive there."
"Alright, but if if one of you two dares to break my front door...." "Yeah, yeah we get the picture." "We'll be nice." Applejack chuckled. "Would you be so kind to give us the start signal."
"Ah sure, why not. Twilight said and stepped back "Now, you two ready?" Applejack and Rainbow Dash both took place and waited for Twilight. "On your marks, get set..." her horn started to glow a bit "and GO." On the moment Twilight said 'go' she shot a little beam from her horn and the two mares started to run.
Twilight saw them running till they were out of sight, she was standing alone for a moment. She turned her head, walked back to Ponyville and started to think. "Maybe Fluttershy wants to help?" she asked herself.
It was crowded in Canterlot, the annual market; 'Canterlot Markt' was again taking place in the main streets. Everypony sold and bought stuff like necklaces, beads, clothes as well as food, some of the items they sold were gems that you can't find easily, making it extremely rare. This is the ideal place for thieves.
Canterlot luckily has the best police corps patrolling the streets. But even tought it isn't easy to catch a thieve in a crowded street. But the crimes in 'Canterlot Markt' wasn't Princess Celestia's biggest concern. No it was something bigger and it bothered her badly.
She was standing on her royal balcony, watching the view of Equestria when Luna stepped next to her with a big yawn. "You asked for me, big sis?" Luna was tired of her night duty and yawned again, her hoof covered her mouth this time. "Yes my dear sister, I'm sorry to awake you but there is something I must tell you right now." "What's wrong?" Luna asked confused.
Princess Celestia finally looked at Luna "A dark presence is approaching. Something I haven't felt since I was..." Celestia paused for a moment when she looked into Luna's eyes, she moved her head down with closed eyes "... since I was just a filly."
Luna was suprised. Princess Celestia didn't talk much about her past, especially about her filly years. "It is something I wanted to forget. It's the same dark energy right after you were born. When..." "Don't say it!" Luna interrupted her big sister angrily as she turned away from her "please, just don't." A tear rolled up in in Celestia's eye and said with a softly voice "I'm sorry."
The two royal sisters didn't look at each other for a moment. It was Luna who turned her head back to Celestia "So... you think he's back? Is it even possible? I thought that you said he's gone forever." Celestia didn't wanted to answer that but she couldn't lie about it "Yes I know, but it's him. I don't know how but it's him."
"I don't get it, why can't I sense it." "You were just an month old when... the incident happened." Celestia had trouble to say it in one line. They stepped to the edge of the balcony and looked at the beautiful landscape, knowing that it would change fast.
Luna sighed deeply "If those stories you told me really happend, then tell me one thing." Princess Celestia waited for Luna's question who still looked over the balcony. "How do we stop him?"
After half an hour Applejack and Rainbow Dash were still running on an open field. Applejack had still a bad feeling about the cliffs as they approached it. They were neck and neck, when in the distance suddenly dark clouds covered the sky.
Applejack looked up and panted intensely "Uhm Rainbow, yer sure that it was going to be a beautiful day today?" The blue pegasus was shocked when she saw the clouds "What in Equestria?" They both slowed down "The Weather Team hadn't planned this kind of storm in this area. Why didn't they inform me on this?"
Rainbow Dash looked at Applejack with a grin "So we're gonna be a little wet, big deal." "No Rainbow, the roads on the cliffs are dangerous, it will be slippery." "But what about our race." Rainbow Dash argued.
The dark clouds came closer to the two ponies, it was moving quickly while the clouds were piling up and making a loud rumbling sound in the sky. "Okay, Ah know not much about creating storms, but Ah've never seen anything like this. Ya sure it's pegasus made?" Rainbow Dash was lost for words for a moment "I... well... of course it is. Only Pegasi controls the clouds." she explained while trying to laugh.
“Then how do ya create...” Applejack couldn't finish her sentence when a huge thunderclap interrupted her. They both jumped in the air from the intense clap. Applejack quickly laid down on the ground with her hooves covering her eyes. When she removed her hooves slowly and looked up, she saw Rainbow Dash leaning over her with big a big smile on her face .
“What’s the matter?” Rainbow Dash laughed. “Afraid of a little thunder?” Applejack was still convinced that there was something else going on “Ya can say what ya want , sugarcube. But that didn't sound like a normal storm to me." She stood up and looked again into the sky together with Rainbow Dash.
A bright lightningbolt came out of nowhere and hit the ground behind a mountain not far away from them. The jaws of the two mare dropped down and couldn’t believe their eyes.
“Did... did you see that?” Rainbow Dash asked, but Applejack didn’t respond. The pegasus was getting excited “Let’s have a closer look." “Yeah, let’s do that.” Applejack was still shocked by the intense explosion, but when she was back to her positives she said it would be a bad idea. Rainbow Dash looked at the orange pony with a big evil smile. Applejack began to feel irritated by her “Uuurg... fine. let’s go and take a look.”
The two ponies went where the lightning bolt struck. They were standing on a cliff to see what happened. "Hmm, the landscape seems alright." Applejack said, she had a clear vision of the area. She jumped down some rocks to get to the bottom of the mountain. Rainbow Dash flew down and landed right next to her. "Yeah, only some trees are damaged."
They walked trought the landscape looking around but stopped as fast as they could and gasped for air. There was something lying on the ground. The two mares jumped into a bush.
“What is that?” Applejack wihspered. “I don’t know...” Rainbow Dash began to grin and looked at Applejack “not yet I mean.” “Wha... yer not planning to...” “Hey, I thought you weren't afraid, are you AJ?” “Ah’m not afraid of anypony.” “Then why aren’t you going with me?” Rainbow Dash asked with a teasing smile. “That thing isn’t a pony” Applejack said quickly. “Well, I’m not afraid of anything.” Rainbow Dash said “You can stay here if you want to but I’m going to look.”
Rainbow Dash walked out the bush, jumped into the air and flew towards to the unknown creature, she flew a few times over him so she could observe him. All she saw was that he lying down with his face up. She noticed that he's wearing clothes. “Why does he wear so many clothes? Huh, he has no fur on his arms or on his face." she thought.
Rainbow Dash landed not far away from him behind a rock. But it didn't take long before she crawled up to him. She was now standing five hooves away from his head. She looked at his face and saw that his eyes were closed, but she heard him breathing. She gently poked him with her hoove on his face but stepped back quickly. He didn't respond.
Rainbow Dash looked at Applejack who stil hid in the bushes in the distance. “Be careful.” Applejack whispered to herself. Rainbow Dash looked back at the creature and came closer again. She walked next to him like a lion. Slowly she put her hoof on his chest and pushed it gently like she’s trying to wake him up. There was still no response.
Rainbow Dash didn't push him gently anymore “Hey, wake up!” she became frustrated and jumped on his chest to get a closer look of his face. Her nose was almost touching his. “What in tarnation is she doing?” Applejack couldn't believe it. "What are you?" Rainbow Dash asked herself.
HEY AJ! Rainbow Dash turned her head and yelled. “I THINK IT’ SAFE!” Applejack heard her, she slowly walked out the bush but stopped immediately and pointed her hoof at Rainbow Dash. “Rainbow. L... look.” “WHAT! I CAN’T HEAR YOU!” But when she heared a grunt she knew what Applejack was saying.
She looked slowly back at him and saw that his eyes where half open. Rainbow Dash was so shocked that she froze. She didn't move, she only looked him in the eyes with fear when they opened. Her nose was 4 inches away fom his. Then the creature saw her, he saw a cyan blue pony standing on his chest. They looked each other deeply in the eyes. “What the...?” The creature sounded suprised.
“Whoa...” Rainbow Dash moved again, she immediately jumped off his chest and flew in the air towards Applejack. She landed in front of the her.
“Ah think he’s awake.” Applejack teased the scared the blue pegasus. Rainbow Dash didn't pay much attention to Applejack, she looked at the confused creature who was slowly getting up.
Rainbow Dash jumped up, hovered in the air and looked at Applejack “AJ listen closly. You must return to Ponyville as fast as you can, warn Twilight and the others.” Rainbow Dash said with a serious tone. “But... what 'bout you? Yer not comming with me?” Applejack tilted her head while asking.
Rainbow Dash closed her eyes and sighed deeply “I’ll try to hold him here.” Applejack shook her head “Yer insane, Ah am not running away. We don't know what that is. He might be dangerous." "I know. But I have to do this alone." "What are ya talking about? You're not alone. If you're gonna confront him then we'll do it together. Let me help.” “No!" Rainbow Dash became angry at the stubborn pony "I don’t have a choice Applejack! I can't let you get hurt.”
Applejack was suprised as she looked at the blue pegasus, she never heard Rainbow Dash saying something like that to her. How she wanted to protect her from any danger. Rainbow Dash looked back at the creature who was already sitting up. His right hand was on the ground to maintain his balance, his left had was on his head rubbing his hair like he had a headache, his eyes were closed again.
Rainbow Dash sighed again “I will never forgive myself if that thing do any harm to anypony in Ponyville or Equestria.” she looked back to Applejack. “Please, go.” she ordered her by pointing her hoof towards Ponyville. “But...” "GO!" Rainbow Dash screamed.
Applejack didn’t say anything back this time. Instead, she nodded. There was no way to change her mind by arguing. "Please, be careful." Applejack said before she turned around and went back to ponyville. She didn't look back.
Rainbow Dash saw how Applejack ran in the distance. “Just hurry up AJ.” Rainbow Dash mumbled to herself before she turned her head to him. He was looking arround to see something he recognized.
Rainbow Dash breathed some air in and out to gather some courage “Alright big guy, we can do this the easy way or the hard way. And I hope for you that you don't choose the hard way.” Rainbow Dash said and flew back to him.
“Thank you for helping me in the library, it really means a lot to me." Twilight putted some books on her bookshelf. Fluttershy flew by, she was dusting the bookcase with a feather duster. “Oh it’s no problem Twilight. I always love to help.” “Yeah me too.” Pinkie Pie was bouncing around with some books on her head.
Twilight picked another book with her magic from Pinkie's head "Now, just those last books and we are done." Everypony turned their head and gasped when the front door suddenly brutally opened and broke in half. In the door opening stood Applejack who panted heavily?
"My... my door." Twilight was shocked seeing that her front door was broken in half. "Applejack! I told you to be careful with my door!" "Hey Applejack, you are the first one here, that means you've won the race." Fluttershy cheered with a soft voice. Pinkie Pie gigled hard "Oh boy, Rainbow Dash will be angry at you. I mean come on, she's 'grounded' for a week. Hahaha."
Applejack ignored Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, she ran towards Twilight "Twi,... ya'll have to come... with me now." she was still panting which made it difficult to talk.
“Why? What's wrong?" Twilight asked, she looked at Applejack with a smile "You look exhausted.” "No, listen to me! Please." Twilight's smile disappeared, she knew something was wrong. She looked at her her front door that had been destroyed and then back to Applejack."Where is Rainbow Dash?" Twilight Asked seriously.
The other two ponies looked at the entrance, they also noticed that Rainbow Dash still hasn't showed up yet. "Rainbow Dash couldn't be that far away from you, can she?" Fluttershy asked Applejack.
"What's wrong Applejack? Where is Rainbow Dash?" Twilight interrogated the orange pony. Applejack was still exhausted and had it difficult to say what really happend "A creature,... a thing. We've found something... and Ah don't know what it is."
Twilight looked confused "You saw something and you don't know what it is? Can you describe how it looks like? Applejack stopped panting "Well, to tell ya'll the truth, he looked like an ape." Spike started to laugh "He? An ape? Applejack, are you sure you didn't hit your head against a tree or something?"
"No, Ah'm serious. But he didn't had fur. Only some clothes." Applejack didn't give up. She knows what she saw. Twilight's eyes grew "Wait a minute. An apelike creature without fur." She ran to her bookshelf and trew some books out. "Where is it? 'The consequences of Dark Magic'? No. 'Dare and do and the...' no. 'Magic for fillies'? No." She ran to a second bookshelf across the room.
Fulttershy flew behind Twilight who threw more books on the ground "Uh, Twilight we just cleanded this place up." Twilight didn't hear Fluttershy "Come on, I saw it not long ago. 'Brews and Potions'? No. Where is it? Ha, found it." Twilight pulled a book out the shelf and dropped it on her desk with her magic.
Everpony saw the title of the book 'Mystery encyclopedia: Pony myths and legends'. "Wow Twilight, I didn't know you liked myths or legends." Pinkie Pie asked her. "Actualy I don't. This book contains things that aren't scientifically proven, so I never wanted to read it. but two weeks ago I accidentally dropped this book and saw this." Twilight opened the book with her magic and scrolled when she found the right page. "Applejack is this how he looks like?"
Applejack's eyes went bigger when Twilight showed her the picture "Yeah, that's him. That is the one." she looked a bit confused at the picture "Huh, that's odd. He only had two arms and legs."
Twilight began to read underneath the picture "'Homo sapiens sapiens or Humans are primates of the family Hominidae and the only living species of the genus Homo. They are carbon based lifeforms, who have adapted well to their surroundings. They also has the instincts to survive in bad circumstances. The true whereabouts of the species are unknow, but ancient tales tells us that they don't live in our dimension.
As you can see in the picture, the human is a creature similar to an ape, but unlikly like the drawing they only stand on two legs and uses their front hands (that contains five fingers each) only to grab food or more. Mythology scientists are still trying to figure out what this picture of this race really means. Some say that it is a god or a mighty sorcerer.
It is said that they have extraordinary uncontrolled powers wich makes them extremely dangerous. Their intentions are unknow, no pony found any proof of their existence, but there are stories of a human that lived in Equestria almost twenty-five thousand years ago.'
It was quiet for a moment. Twilight turned a page "Nothing else? Is this all they could found about this creature?" She mumbled one of the last sentences to herself " '...wich makes them extreamly dangerous.'" but looked back to Applejack.
"Applejack?" Twilight asked with a calm yet serious tone "Where... is... Rainbow Dash?" "You don't think she's caputred, do you? Or worse she might be..." Pinkie Pie held her front hoof up her mouth. She didn't want to say the last word, she didn't even want to think about it.
Applejack looked down with closed eyes "Ah.. Ah don't think she is. But..." "Then where is she?" Fluttershy interupted her, but said sorry shortly after Applejack looked at her. "She sent me here to warn ya'll." she continued "She... she wanted to protect me, to protect all of us." she looked down again "So she comfront him... alone."
Everyponies eyes flinched when they heard Applejack's story. "Is she really alone with that thing?" Pinkie Pie asked. "Yes." Applejack looked up at the three ponies "Ah'm not sure why but Ah... Ah have a feeling that Rainbow is in danger."
"We must help her now." Twilight took a step forward. "There is no time to get the Elements, besides Rarity isn't here. Applejack, you guide us there."
Fluttershy looked nervously and anxious around, she saw a window and used an excuse "I... I think m-my Angel needs a carrot." Fluttershy wanted to fly out of the window but Twilight held her down with her magic.
"Fluttershy we need you on this." Applejack said "But I don't want to meet that thing." Fluttershy was scared. "Please Fluttershy." Pinkie looked with sad eyes into hers. "Dashie needs us."
Fluttershy gave up "Oooh ok, you're right. I'll go with you." Twilight smiled a bit at Fluttershy, she turned her head and walked through the broken door "Applejack..." "Ah'm on it." She ran outside followed by Pinkie pie and Fluttershy.
The purple baby dragon looked at Twilight with fear in his eyes. Twilight stepped towards Spike and hugged him, she knew what was bothering him. "Don't worry Spike, I'll be back before you know it." she said with closed eyes and a smile. "But, maybe I can come with you guys, you know. To help you out or something." Twilight shook her head and sighed "No Spike, it might be to..." Spike interrupted her "I know, I know! To dangerous."
A tear slipped down Spike's cheek, hoping she would be alright "Come back, ok?" Twilight broke the hug and wiped the tear away. "Spike, I need a favor." she said happily. "Huh? Uh, sure. What is it?" Twilight stepped again towards the doorway "I need you to repair this door for me untill I get back, ok?" Spike started to smile and held his claws against his head like a salute "You got it."
Twilight smiled one last time before she left the library, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy were far away but they already stopped, waiting for her to come. "C'mon Twi! We haven't got all day!" Applejack yelled in the distance.
Finally she catched up with the other ponies to help Rainbow Dash, hoping that it won't be too late.
"You can't hide from me!" Rainbow Dash yelled as she searched for the human in a nearby forrest. She lifted up a stone and looked underneath it. But when she saw only some bugs she dropped the stone, then she flew in front of a bush hoping he would be in there. Again without results when she looked into it.
"Great. I found a weird looking talking monkey and I already lost him." she mumbled to herself. Rainbow Dash's head went up, she heard a sound behind her. She had a little grin on her face and talked quietly "There you are." She flew away towards the sound she heard.
However, the man hid himself behind a tree, not far away where Rainbow Dash stood just five seconds ago. He leaned his head against the tree and breathed slowly so she couldn't hear him.
"Ok, what's going on here. First I wake up in a stange place I don't even know, now I'm beeing attacked by a flying blue pony. Can this day be even crazier?" He looked slowly behind the tree to see if she was really gone. "Good, she's away. Now... where am I?" He stepped away from the tree and looked around. "What is this place?"
After a small walk in the forrest, he finally he reached the border of the forrest. It was on the edge of a hill and now he had a clear view of the landscape. His mouth dropped down when he saw the Canterlot Mountain in the distance. He held his hand against his head and stroked his hair backwards while he gazed at the palace. He started to laugh a bit "Whoah, Would you look at that." he even laughed harder. "Can someone please wake me up?"
"I'll wonder who would build-ow!" Rainbow Dash flew out of nowhere and tackled the human by crashing against his back, making him fall downhill together with the blue pegasus.
After a few rolls he hit the ground with a thud. The human was lying on his back again, when he opened his eyes he saw Rainbow Dash looking at him upside down angrily but curious.
"Who are you?" Rainbow Dash asked. The human didn't react, he only stared at the blue pony. "Don't make me say it twice!"
"I'm Adam." he reasponded in a calm voice. Rainbow Dash stepped back a bit when Adam rolled slowly on his belly and puched himself up, so he could sit on his knees. "What about you? You're a flying blue pony. Damn, what was the name of a horse with wings, a... a pegasus right?"
Rainbow Dash began to smile "Yeah, I am. The name is Rainbow Dash." Adam looked at her mane and tail "I see. Rainbow Dash huh?" "Yep. Wait a minute. You never seen a pegasus before?" When she saw Adam shook his head she laughed, making Adam a little confused.
"You really need to get out more. I'm not the only pegasus around here. In fact you should feel yourself lucky. You have the chance to meet the coolest and fastest pegasus in Equestria." "Equestri-what-now?" Adam asked when he stood up.
Rainbow Dash was kinda suprised with that question "You mean you really don't know?" Adam shook his head again.
"Tell me... Adam. Where do you come frome?" asked seriously. "Well, I guess you can say I'm from..." Adam stopped before he finnished and looked at Rainbow Dash with a weird smile. "What's wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?" Rainbow Dash asked when she stepped back. "I feel a little..." Adam leaned backwards when his eyes rolled over. He fell on the ground again.
Rainbow Dash looked confused at him "Err... Adam? You ok?" "Rainbow!" Rainbow Dash turned her head as she heard her name. She recognized that voice "Applejack?" She saw the other ponies coming to her in the distance. Applejack in front followed by Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy and Twilight, while her horn was reduced by annealing.
"Rainbow Dash, are you alright?" Twilight asked her. But she looked at Adam quickly after. "Did he hurt you?" She asked Rainbow Dash. "No I'm fine." Pinkie Pie grabbed her hoof and examined it very closly "Then how do you explain those bruses and durt?" Rainbow Dash pulled her hoof back "Pinkie, I'm fine. I just fell downhill, that's all."
"Uhm, what are we gonna do with him?" Fluttershy pointed her hoof at Adam. Pinkie pie jumped up next to Adam's head and giggled "He looks funny." "Don't worry Fluttershy, he won't do us any harm. My 'Sleep-well spell' has ensured that he stays this way for about 7... maybe 8 hours." "Wait, you did that? Why?" Rainbow Dash asked.
The ponies looked confused at Rainbow Dash. Applejack was the first to respond "Sweetie, in case you didn't noticed, there was a human standing in front of you." "Yeah... so?" Rainbow Dash wanted answers "Why did you used a spell on him Twilight?" "That thing is dangerous. You're lucky you survived this." "His name is Adam... and he's not dangerous!" Rainbow Dash responded angrily.
"Have you lost yer mind? The book told us he was." Twilight stared at Rainbow Dash "Applejack is right, we don't know what he is and why he's here. I think we're better tell this to princess Celestia. She will figure out what to do." "No!" Rainbow Dash stomped with her hoof on the floor. "Who do you believe more? A stupid book... or me?"
The four ponies were silent for a moment. Twilight looked at the sleeping human, she closed her eyes and sighed. "Alright." she spoke quietly "I will take him to my place so we can ask him where he comes from."
Rainbow Dash made a small smile of relief "Thanks." Twilight returned the smile and stepped shortly after towards the human. "Come closer, I'm going to teleport us to my library."
Applejack and Rainbow Dash folowed Twilight's instructions immediately, Fluttershy hesitated at first, but with a 'gentle' push from Pinkie's head, she was standing next to Applejack. Twilight lifted her head up and prepared herself to teleport her and the other. And in a blink of an eye they were gone.
Twilight searched into her bookself to find more answers of the human they found. He was still sleeping on the couch . Fluttershy was already gone home, to take care of the animals. Rainbow Dash looked intently at Adam as she lay next to him.
"Are you alright Rainbow?" Applejack asked her when she stepped closer to her. "Yeah, I'm fine." she responded with a sigh. "It's just... I can't believe he's dangerous. Why would they write something like that?"
Rainbow Dash looked back at Adam "He was more afraid of me, then I was from him." she turned her head at Twilight "Did you find anything yet?" "No, I can't find anything about his whereabouts, they don't even know if he actually exists. The Mystery encyclopedia is the best clue we have about him."
Pinkie Pie appeared out of nowhere next to Applejack "Maybe the Canterlot library has some books that most ponies don't know about. Or maybe they kept it a secret and locked something away in a secret passage and..." Applejack held her hoof against Pinkie's mouth before she could finnish.
"You know that doesn't sound like a bad idea." Twilight came closer to the two ponies. "What? You don't really think that the library in Canterlot has secret tunnels?" Rainbow Dash asked her while lifting an eyebrow. "Of course not, but they may have some artifacts about mythical creatures. We will go to Canterlot today."
Twilight realised something "Shoot. The library is closed today. Now what?" Pinkie jumped up and down "Oh Oh. Guessing games. I like those." Applejack looked at Pinkie pie curiously "So... yer already knows how to get in the library?" . "Yes." "Pinkie, we will not sneak inside." Twilight reacted. "Then no. I do not know." she continued with a big smile. "But the museum might be open. Maybe there we can find there some old books or articles that can help us."
"Sorry Twilight but I'm not comming." Rainbow Dash said as she lowered her head on her hoofs. She was still lying on the couch next to the human. "Aaw. Why not?" Pinkie Pie asked her "It could be fun."
Rainbow Dash stared at the ground "Because I'm not in the mood, ok. Besides, walking in museum's isn't my thing." Applejack looked at the blue pegasus with a grin "Says the pony who's sitting in a library." "I know, but this is different." Rainbow Dash looked up and turned her head at Adam "And somepony need to watch over him. I'm the only pony he knowns."
Twilight let down a sigh "Well alright. But promise me you will be carefull. Applejack, Pinkie. We have to go to the train station before we miss our train." "Twi we're ready to go... but wouldn't it be easier and faster to use yer fancy magic instead of the train?" "Yes, but Canterlot is been heavily guarded because of the market. If I teleport us there they know something is wrong."
Pinkie jumped in the air screaming "To the train station!" and ran away. Applejack followed her shortly after. "You guys make sure you keep a good look for Pinkie, she might get lost in the museum." Rainbow Dash said with a laugh.
Before Twilight followed the others she had one more thing to say to Rainbow Dash "And you make sure you keep a good look for Spike when comes back. And for our sleeping friend." Then she ran outside leaving Rainbow Dash alone.
After a long trip on the train and a small walk in Canterlot, they finally reached the museum. "Wow, it's huge in here. How are we gonna find something 'bout that guy?" Applejack asked Twilight while looking around. "I really don't know. Ah, I see somepony who might help us."
She talked to the museum guide but without results. He didn't even know what a human was. Twilight walked towards Applejack "Great, nothing." she looked left and right "Uh, where's Pinkie?" "She went to those old books over there." Applejack pointed her hoof at Pinkie who was watching very closely at some books in the bookshelf. "Pinkie, are you comming. We didn't find anything there."
"Those books maybe not. But this secret tunnel will tell us." Pinkie Pie said in the distance. Twilight rolled with her eyes "Pinkie there isn't a secret..." her eyes widened when she saw Pinkie opening a bookshelf in a secluded corner of the museum. Behind the door was a staircase leading down. The walls were made of old bricks. On the wall hung a number of torches to see the stairs.
"Pinkie? Ah don't know how you do this. But you have to teach me someday." Applejack stepped closer towards Pinkie. Twilight investigated the secret doorway "I can't believe this." Pinkie Pie's head came next to Twilight "Well? let's find out what's hidding downstairs."
Adam opened his eyes quickly when he saw a sealing. His attention however went to a voice he heard. A simular voice.
"Keep falling down like that and you will hurt yourself one day." Rainbow Dash said with a teasing tone. She was sitting up on the couch not far from his legs.
Adam looked around "Is this where you live?" "Hey don't insult me. This is the library of my egghead friend Twilight." "So you're friends with an egg?" Adam asked confused. "What? No no, you got it all wrong. It's a nickname I gave her." "So she's not an egg. What is she? A pegasus like you?" "Nope, she's an unicorn." Adam looked at her in disbelieve but he was soon distracted when his stomach growls.
"You hungry?" Rainbow Dash asked him with a smile. Adam only nodded with a small laugh. "There is probably some food in the kitchen." Rainbow Dash pointed her hoof towards a door "You can take whatever you like."
"And this Twilight will be ok with this?" "She won't know about it, I do it all the time." Adam could only smile with that answer. He stood up and went to the kitchen to grab some food he liked.
When Adam closed the door, Rainbow Dash started to think, something bothered her "Wait a minute. Twilight said he would be out for 7 or 8 hours? Then why are you standing up just after 2 hours?"
The fixed door of the library opened. "Hello Rainbow." Spike walked in and waved at Rainbow Dash but stopped immediately. "Rainbow Dash you're back? Where are the others? What about that human-thing?"
"Oh don't worry he's..." Rainbow Dash paused for a moment to think "He's been taken care of. You don't need to fear him anymore." she continued while trying to hide her grin. "Pfff, I wansn't afraid. Who said that?" Spike responded bravely.
Rainbow Dash jumped of the couch and looked at a cardbord box Spike held in his claws "What's that?" "This? It's a cupecake I bought from Sugar Cube Corner... and no this is my cake." Rainbow Dash let down a fake sigh "Just put it in the kitchen before I eat it."
She saw how Spike walked into the kitchen and waited a moment. Rainbow Dash started to laugh out loud when she heard Spike screaming. Spike ran out the kitchen and hid himself behind Rainbow Dash "Well... so much for the brave Spike." Adam appeared in the room with a carrot in his hand. He was also surprised when he saw the purple baby dragon.
Rainbow Dash stepped aside so Adam and Spike could see each other again "Adam this is Spike, Twilight' sassistant." Adam waved at Spike which makes him calmer. Rainbow Dash looked at Spike "Spike this is Adam. The oh-so-terrifying human." she said with a sarcastic tone. Even though Spike knew Rainbow Dash made a joke, he could only stare at Adam.
"Finally!" Applejack said relieved when she put her hoof on the floor "Ah thought that it would never end." On the bottem of the stairs, the hallway ended up in the dark. Luckily Twilight used a spell making her horn glowing.
In the distance they saw a wooden door. Twilight, Applejack and Pinkie Pie looked at each other. "Ah wonder what's behind it. And why they put it away from anypony." "Well, there is only one way to find out."
Twilight stepped closer to the door, she pulled her hoof up to open the door. Unfortunately for the ponies, the door was locked. Pinkie Pie crossed her hooves "Great. Now what?"
"Pinkie." Applejack received her attention "Twilight has magic, remember?" Pinkie looked at Applejack "Oh yeah." "It won't be easy to open it. There was no key used for this, the door seems to be sealed by magic."
She pointed her head towards the door when her horn started to glow. Like Twilight said before, It was not easy to break the spell on the door but she managed to open it. "Aha, There we go. Now why would they use such a difficult spell?" she asked herself.
The wooden door creaked as they opened it. The room looked like a dungeon. Again some torches illuminated the room, but there wasn't much to see insinde, only a only a small table. They went into the room to get a good look of the table.
"Is that a book?" Pinkie asked. "Yes, it is Pinkie." Twilight read the cover "But i'm not sure it's the one we're looking for." "What is that thing doing here anyway?" Applejack asked "Is it important or something?" Twilight opened the book and looked at the first page "I don't know but..." Twilight's mouth fell open.
"What... Twi?" Applejack stepped beside Twilight and tried to read along. "Look at the name and signature." Twilight responded again. "It's the same one our former queen used. "So yer saying that this book was written by the queen?" "Well duh." Pinkie said unexpectedly.
"I don't get, who would keep this a secret?" Twilight lifted the book up with her magic and began to smile "Well, there is one way to find out. We'll take this book and I will read it back home." "Fine with me. This place is given me the creeps anyway."
The three ponies gasped when they heard a male voice. "And what are you three doing here?" There was a shade standing in the door opening. "Answer me Twilight Sparkle."
The shade made sure the ponies couldn't flee by blocking the exit . "One last time Twilight. What are you doing here?" he asked when he stepped closer into the light.
The three ponies could finally see him, it was a white pegasus with blood red mane and tail. His yellow eyes followed the mares intently. They realized when they saw his armor, scar and half severed ear that this stallion was a pony who experienced many battles in life. "Ooh and who are you?" Pinkie Pie asked exited.
After him followed a small group of ponies with the same kind of armor. Two unicorns, one earth pony and another pegasus.
Twilight looked at his cutie mark "A burning shield?" After seeing his cutie mark, twilight immediately recognized the red maned pegasus. "Thunder Blade? Is that you?" The pegasus remaind silent after Twilight's answer.
"Twilight, who is he?" Pinkie Pie wispered at the purple unicorn. "This is Thunder Blade. A high security guard of the royal palace with many war victories. He's a hero to my brother." Twilight responded. "But what I don't understand is how you know me."
"It is my duty as high royal guard to know everything what comes near princess Celestia. Even a small filly for... private lessons." Thunder Blade explained with a serious look. "And the Elements-of-Harmony-thing got my attention as well."
Thunder Blade turned around "Now, follow me." Applejack was suprised "Now hold on a minute. You come in here, scares the hay out of us and now you want us to follow you? Ah'm not going anywhere until you explains what's going on."
Thunder Blade looked back at the three ponies without any emotions. "Princess Celestia herself awaits your presence. And let say she's not pleased." He gazed back at Twilight making her swallow.
Meeting with Spike in the library went better than expected, at least that's what Rainbow Dash thought, so she decided to take Adam out and show him Ponyville and its inhabitants. But when many of them saw Adam, they ran off because they were afraid of him. Luckily Rainbow Dash managed to stop them before chaos or panic broke out.
After the guided tour of the village they went to the outskirt of Ponyville right next to the applefarm. They were both lying on the ground, looking up into the sky. But it didn't take long when Rainbow Dash broke the silence.
"So, how is life on your world?" Adam didn't answer her question and kept looking into the sky. Rainbow Dash rolled on her side and stared at Adam "Hello? You still awake?" "I... I don't to talk about it." Rainbow Dash blinked with her eyes "Did I say something wrong?" "What? No, no. It's just... I had a hard time on the world I lived. It was all a giant mess."
Adam leaned on his side and faced Rainbow Dash with a smile "But today, my life changed into one big adventure. This place is just like a dream. Everthing is so beautiful. I've seen things here I never thought that they even existed." Rainbow Dash gazed at Adam in silence. But she thought of something and smiled.
"Come on, get up." Rainbow Dash said when she jumped up an floated in the air "There is one more thing I have to show you and I think you'll probably going to like it." "What are you talking about?" He asked with a smile. "Get up you lazy." She grabed his hand and pulled him up. "Alright, alright. I'm up." Adam laughed "You're making me curious."
Thunder Blade walked in the throne room followed by Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and his squad. The royal princess was sitting on her throne while Luna was standing right next to her watching how the ponies walked in.
Twilight wasn't sure how princess Celestia will react about the fact that they have sneaked in a hidden passage and attempted to steal her mother's book. And the sudden arrival of Adam made it difficult for her to even think straight.
The ponies made a bow before the princesses.
"Thunder Blade, my most reliable guard. I am pleased with your successful return. I assumed everything went exactly according to plan?" she asked with a smile of relief. "Not quite actually, your Highness." Thunder Blade responded when he stood up. "Miss Sparkle was untraceable. One of my men went to her residence in Ponyville. But a small dragon told him that she was in Canterlot. I had a hunch where she could be after we received an alarm from sector 6."
"Sector 6?" Celestia looked suprised at Twilight. "She succeeded to break your spell on the door and was able to put her hooves on the book. But no worries princess, the book is secured and in our possession." One of the guards showed the book to the princess and putted it on a small table. Twilight looked up at Celestia "Wait, you were searching us before we entered the dungeon and took the book? Then what's going on?"
Celestia looked back at the high guard "Thunder Blade?" "Yes, your Highness." He ordered his patrol to leave the room. They walked away and closed the door behind him. Thunder Blade took place next to princess Celestia.
Princess Celestia stood up "There is something in need to tell you. An old enemie is returning and is within range to terrorize throughout all Equestria and will soon affect us all." The three ponies were suprised by the sudden news.
"Princess, can you tell us what we're dealing with." Applejack asked. "You probably haven't yet heard about the mythical creature known as a human but..." Celestia couldn't finish het sentence when Twilight turned her head to her friends. "See, I told you so, didn't I."
"So you do know about them?" Celestia asked surprised. "We've found... some evidence about his existence. That's why we went to the museum to learn more." Twilight tried to play it smart, she wanted clear answers before telling the princess that they actually found him.
Pinkie pie stepped forwards "Princess? Is it true? Are they that dangerous?" "I'm afraid so. The stories and legends are true. A long time ago, there was once a human here in Equestria who called himself Bryon. No pony knew where he came from or how he got here."
Celestia walked down the stairs of her throne as she continued "He was quickly noticed and came before my parents, the king and queen of Equestria. My mother saw that there was good in him, but my father didn't trust him, for a good reason. Because since Bryon arrived in Equestria he created a powerfull magical aura. He was able to proform spells only the highest warlocks could do. After a big discussion the king and queen both agreed that he could live on a farm in a small village so he wouldn't attract much attention."
"My mother said to him that the farmers were friendly, so it was easy for him to make some friends. There were rumors saying that he fell in love on a mare who lived on the farm. He seemed to be happy there."
Princess Celestia walked next to her sister and sighed "But with time however... things changed." Applejack lifted an eyebrow.
"He became avaricious with his magic. Bryon wanted to know everthing, so he stole the most powerful scrolls of dark magic he could find. His greed for more grew after every scroll he read and after every spell he preformed. Unfortunately for him, the king knew all about it. Thanks to his spies who kept an eye on Bryon since the beginning. My father stopped him with a final warning. If he continued like this, the king would banish him."
"And did he listen?" Twilight asked. The princess nodded "Yes he did. But it was already to late for him." "How?"
"The power of dark magic has brought Bryon into madness. He saw terrible visions of the farm and the ponies he cared about. He wanted to do something about it and asked my parents for help. But my father didn't believe it. He thought it was a trick to get more scrolls for selfish desires. Bryon returned with empty hands, fearing that his visions might come true.
"Not a week later, an accident happened. A heavy fire broke out at the farm and the village, making it burn into ashes. No pony made it out alive... except Bryon. There was nothing he could do, just watching how he lost everything he held dear."
Pinkie Pie held her hoof against her mouth "That's terrible." "Indeed, but his grief and loss quickly turned into rage and anger. He attacked the royal palace. The king warned him, giving him one last chanse to turn around. But he wouldn't listen this time and continued the assault. My father used all his knowledge and magic to protect everypony and tried to sent Bryon away from this planet."
"But it didn't work. Bryon was one step ahead. He knew that my father would try to banish him, so he learned a spell to defend himself. My mother joined the fight as well after Bryon violated her trust. She had a different kind of punishment for him in mind. Something Bryon never expected. Her magic turned him into neither a man nor a pony, a creature of the dark. Bryon fled from the palace and hid himself in a forest where he lurked in his humiliation."
Celestia turned her head at princess Luna "A few years went by and the kingdom celebrated the birth of a newborn princess. Princess Luna. I couldn't be happier to have a little sister. Our parents organized a great celebration so everyone could see how happy they were."
"But Bryon heard about the celebration and returned to the palace. He tried to steel Luna from us at the ceremony to avenge his friends. My father was furious at him and wanted to end his terror once and for all. I can't remeber much what really happend. One thing was clear. Luna was saved and returned by the guards."
A tear went down princess Celestia's cheek "But my father didn't survive the encounter. Bryon killed him with a dark spell. My mother saw everthing and used the Elements of Harmony to lock Bryon up into a wall. She sended it into the deepest and darkest part of the Everfree Forest, to make sure he could never harm anypony anymore."
"After the whole incident, my mother erased the memory of everypony, to protect everypony if they wanted to search him. Only the highest level unicorn could remember some parts of the human. That's how the stories and legends came."
"Even thought my mother wanted to forget everything, she wrote it all down. Every detail she knew." Pinkie Pie looked at the book they found in the museum "You mean this book?" The princess nodded "Yes... and that is why I locked it away with a spell. To make sure that the peace in Equestria will continue."
"But I'm afraid that the peace will be disturbed when he returns." Princess Celestia looked at the three ponies with a serious look "That is why we need to prepare ourself before it's to late. Before the human attacks."
Twilight turned at Pinkie Pie and Applejack "I can't believe this. We have to warn Rainbow Dash about Adam, he is not what she thinks he is." She was suprised that she said that out loud in front of the princesses and held her hoof against her mouth.
"What are you talking about Twilight? Who is this Adam?" Luna asked. "He... is... a..." Princess Celestia looked at the orange mare "Applejack? What is going on?" As the Element of Honesty, Applejack couldn't lie, especially not to her princess.
"We... we found him. We found the human." Applejack said with a deep sigh. Princess Celestia's eyes widened "What? Where is he?" "He's at my place." Twilight asnwered "But he's asleep. I used my magic to..."
Celestia turned her head at her high royal guard "Thunder Blade! Assemble your squad. We are going to Ponyville and capture that creature... by any force necessary!" "Yes, Princess." he ran out the room to gather his mightiest soldiers.
Princess Celestia gazed back at Twilight with an angry look.
Adam walked slowly forwards with his hands in front. He couldn't see anything because Rainbow Dash was sitting on his shoulders and blindfolded him with her hooves.
Luckily, Rainbow Dash was giving him directions where he has to go "Okay, a little more to the left and... Hey, no peeking." "Can you at least give a hint?" "No way, that would ruin the surprise."
Rainbow Dash told him that he could stop. "Alright. What do you see?" Rainbow Dash released her hooves so that Adam could see. "Ok, I see hills, a tree, a..." Adam's mouth dropped when he looked itno the sky.
"Well, what do you see?" Rainbow Dash asked when she floated around Adam. "I see a huge cloud... in a shape of a house. Is this your... ?" Rainbow Dash nodded "Yep, I tought if this has been the adventure of your life, then maybe my cloud will blow your mind." Adam held his hand bind his head "Well... I got to admit that this is the highlight of the day. "Wanna see what's inside?" Adam crossed his arms and looked at the blue mare "And how do you think I can get there?"
Rainbow Dash landed in front of Adam "Use your wings of course." Adam chuckled "Rainbow, unlike you, I don't have wings on my... back." His eyes went bigger when he touched his back. He felt something fluffy, like a pillow.
"What the... ?" He removed his T-shirt which showed his bare skin, making Rainbow Dash blush a bit. He had two large white wings on his back. He was able to spread his wings as far as he could.
"When did this happen?" Adam remebered something. He folded his wings back against his back and looked at Rainbow Dash. "You told me that your friend used a spell on me, right? Could this be a side effect?" "I doubt that. You need a different kind of spell to create wings."
Rainbow Dash flew next to Adam and grabbed one of his wings. "You know, its not bad as it looks. I think it's awesome. With such large wings, I'm sure you'll be able to take a lot of speed." Adam stared at Rainbow Dash and smiled, while she let his wing go and returned a small smile.
But the smiling didn't last for long when a yellow aura covered Adam and pushed him on the ground. He landed on his knees while using his hands to push him back up. But it was no use, the spell that forced him down was to strong, he couldn't get up. "Adam! What's wrong?" Rainbow Dash panicked when Adam couldn't take it anymore and fell to the ground with his face down.
She looked around to see what causing this. She saw somepony on the top of the hill, a large white alicorn. "Princess Celestia?"
The princess stepped towards the blue pegasus and Adam. "Rainbow Dash!" Princess Celestia was distracted when Adam groaned in pain by the spell., but she looked back at Rainbow Dash with an angry stare. "We need to talk."
