Bad Luck Turned Good
Up in the grand city of Canterlot a small town Farmer was making a final delivery. Big Mac trotted down the streets, he’d honestly rather be at home spending quality time with his family, but when a big order from Canterlot was made they just couldn’t say no, not just because of the bits they would get payed but because Canterlot was the capital of equestria and their are some ponies who could easily ruin the Apple family if they felt so inclined. Fortunately for Big Mac he wouldn’t need to deal with any of the so called ‘Canterlot elite’ but instead was dropping of apple flavored sweets for the local shop’s that only opened this time of year to sell to the fillies and colts of Canterlot who actually still had a sweet tooth. The apple family made sweets that were not only tasty but they were also nutritious so the parents would be more likely to buy them. It was the first time the Apple Family had been personally asked for, you could thank Twilight Sparkle, equestria’s newest Princess for that, simply her saying she enjoyed the Apple family sweets made them immediately popular all across equestria.
Big Mac was able to finish his delivery soon enough, he wished that his family could’ve helped him but understood why they couldn’t, Apple Bloom was too young and easily distracted, Granny Smith can’t carry heavy loads like he could, and Applejack had to do some last minute holiday shopping. But now he was done and was ready to head back home
He got to the train station but immediately noticed that something was wrong because the ponies were all gathered like an angry mob the crowd of ponies were all shoving each other as the train’s conductor was yelling over them “The Train is delayed! The weather team made a mistake in the schedule and theirs a blizzard on the way when their was supposed to be one tomorrow! We’re sorry you have to miss the holidays with your families but it’s not safe to travel during a blizzard! If you want to send a message to your family about the situation the Wonderbolt’s have generously offered to deliver your messages for you!”
That put a damper in Big Mac’s mood, he was looking forward to Heartswarming with his family but their was nothing that could be done now, he didn’t even have anywhere to stay for the holidays now, the hotels in Cantelot were way outside of the amount he could reasonably afford, the previously mentioned bits from the delivery was already payed up front, Granny Smith held onto it, he made his letter to his family letting them know that he wouldn’t be home for Heartswarming
Big Mac trotted down the cold streets, he would need to find a place to stay for the night, not exactly easily for somepony like Big Mac who didn’t like to talk much after talking too much and not listening got him in serious trouble.
But their would be a saving grace yet, a Royal Guard suddenly approached him and asked “Big Macintosh?”
Big Mac replied “Eeyup.”
The guard nodded and declared “Princess Celesta is inviting you to stay in the castle for Heartswarming.”
This statement confused Big Mac, he’d never meet the solar Princess, why the only royalty he personally knew was Twilight and even that was through Applejack, and even if they pulled some strings this seems a bit fast, he knew the Wonderbolt’s were the fastest flyers in equestria but even then, something like this seemed near impossible but he wasn’t about to question it too much
The Castle itself was in a word, big, bigger than the entire Apple families farm, if Big Mac didn’t have a guide he would likely have gotten lost. Making it to the throne room Big Mac immediately bowed before Celesta in all her radiant glory
“Please rise. There is no need for that, your sister and her friends have done many great things for Equestria, and your family likes to treat good friends as if their family.” Celesta offered with a smile
Big Mac did rise but couldn’t meet her eyes, Celesta understood why he couldn’t as many ponies saw her as a goddess, not completely unreasonable to see why as she was one of the immortal rulers
Celesta directed her attention to the guard and declared “That will be all.”
The guard nodded and left
Celesta then stated “Big Macintosh, I’m glad to welcome you, Applejack expressed her frustrations about you being stuck here for Hartswarming, I hope you find your stay in the castle comfortable
Big Mac said nothing he only nodded in appreciation
Celesta declared to personally lead Big Mac to the room he was staying in for the night
They eventually made it to his room okay and she left him to his own devices
What Bag Macintosh didn’t know was that Celesta had a spell on the castle itself that was only active during Heartswarming, for everypony in the castle during said time the castle itself would grant that ponies most deep desire, it would only last for the day and never affected anything outside of the castle itself, Celesta herself often used it to check on how Luna was doing
Big Macintosh woke up to see the snow piled high from the blizzard but in the window he saw something he incredible, he had a unicorn horn! He loves this dream!
Not yet realizing he was actually wide awake he immediately tested it out by attempting to levitate his sattle bag, it was surprisingly difficult, the magical grip felt, slippery for lack of better term
Eventually he was finally able to completely lift his bag off of the ground and he smiled
“Only thing that could make this better would be if mi family were here.” Big Mac said to himself
Unfortunately the castle couldn’t grant that wish
He was called to breakfast by the same royal guard that showed him around
On the way to breakfast the guard declared “Oh I have a name now.”
“What?”
“Yeah I didn’t have a name before but now I do.” The guard explained
“How?”
“I have no idea, I just didn’t have a name at all yesterday but now I do have one.” The guard stated
“What’s yer name then?”
“Oh right my name is Charging Shield.” Charging Shield declared with a smile
“Nice ta meet ya.”
They made it to breakfast where Celesta had made pancakes
At the table sat a light blue Pegasus filly with a white and light blue main her eyes looked so light blue she looked as though she was blind, and her cutie mark looked like a flower made of ice with a snowflake as the flowers petals
Princess celesta looked at him and smiled as she declared “Big Macintosh, I see your already enjoying your Heartwarming wish.”
“Mi what?”
Princess Celesta then explained how she had a spell on the castle to grant ponies desires during Hartswarming and only Haertswarming
The explanation explained a few things, at least now he knew this wasn’t a dream and how it was possible
Big Mac directed his attention to the filly and asked “So who are y’all?”
“You probably heard of my in your history class, I’m the spirit of snowdrop, and I’m here because seeing me is Luna’s greatest desire.”
Big Mac nearly choked on his pancake, he definitely heard the stories of the Pegasus said to change winter from being the most miserable time of year to a wonderful time with the invitation of the wishing snow, or snowflakes as they were called today
“Now I just need to wait for my dear friend, Luna won’t be awake for a while so I just go around the castle and try and pass the time until then.” Snowdrop’s spirit informed
This was definitely a heartswarming Big Mac wouldn’t forget for a long time to come
Celesta declared “Well if anypony needs me I’ll be in my room, theirs a semi infinite cake their, every time one takes a bite the cake regenerates itself, so just for today I can quite literally have my cake and eat it too.”
Celesta left to go and eat said cake
Eventually the snow was cleared enough so Big Mac could finally get home and when he got home he wanted to tell his family about his Hartswarming in Canterlot but didn’t think that they would believe him and if he was being honest with himself he wasn’t even sure he believed what happened.
