The wedding of the Belle and the drake

Canterlot was quite festive today, almost as it had been some years ago when a princess had married a captain of the royal guard. Not only was this the wedding of the royal advisor, but it was also the first Pony/Dragon wedding Equestria had seen. There had been a bit of controversy and a bit of resistance by most of the royals and Canterlot rich ponies, but after some very effective persuading by the new ruler of Equestria, everypony had decided to let this dragon marry a unicorn.

The guests were getting rested because the bride was causing a little dilemma; everypony knew she was waiting behind the doors but for some reason she was delaying the ceremony. Meanwhile, the groom was at the altar shaking nervously, suddenly unsure if he was ready to get married.

Behind the giant doors, Sweetie Belle was pacing back and forth, her father sighing and her friends chuckling at her while she frowned in response.

"This is NOT funny, girls!" Said Sweetie Belle.

"Sorry, Sweetie, but this is hilarious!" Replied Scootaloo with a chuckle.

"I'm mighty sorry too, Sweetie, but you gotta admit, this brings back some memories!" Said Apple Bloom with a smile.

"Daaaaaad, please tell them to stop!" Sweetie said, to which Hondo just rolled his eyes.

"Sweetie, you have got to stop being so nervous! You love this guy and I'm sure he loves you." Said Hondo, putting a hoof on Sweetie's shoulder.

"I know, I know, but I'm just so nervous about this!"

"Look, you know him since you were kids, right?" Sweetie nodded. "Well, if what you told me is true, then I'm sure he is just as nervous as you are. Just take a deep breath and go marry him, dear. I'm sure nothing will make the two of you happier."

"Dad, that was beautiful, where did that all come from?" Asked Sweetie, touched by her father's words.

"You mother and me felt the same way as you two right now. Now let's go, I'm sure he can't wait any longer to see you."

Sweetie looked at her friends and bridesmaids; Ember, Babs Seed, Smolder, Ocellus and Apple Bloom and Scootaloo who were no longer laughing. All of them gave Sweetie a nod, and when she looked at her father, he too gave her a nod. Sweetie took one last peek at the door, and then, she decided that it was now or never, now there was no option to chicken out.

Spike was at the altar, and he wasn't looking good. He was shaking and he looked at those doors with a mixture of hope and horror. Of course, Twilight Sparkle, his closest friend was the first to notice, and she wanted to speak to him, although she didn't want to cause a scandal, luckily, an idea came to her mind.

'Spike? Can you hear me?' Spike heard Twilight's voice in his head, he turned around but he didn't see anyone there. Then he looked at her direction, and he saw that she was smiling warmly at him and her horn had a weak light around it.

'Twilight? Are you doing this?' Spike thought, hoping to hear an answer and not come to the conclusion that he was insane.

'Yeah, it's me. I didn't want to embarass you here. What's wrong? You look kinda tense.'

'I'm sorry, I guess I'm just nervous. I don't want to screw this up.'

'Spike, I'm sure you'll do perfect. Sweetie loves you and I'm pretty sure she doesn't care how perfect you are. Just remember to breathe and talk from the bottom of your heart.'

'Thanks, Twilight.'

'Hey, don't do it for me, do it for her.'

Spike looked at his groomsmen, Button Mash, Tender Taps, Rumble, Garble and Pharynx all had a very excited look on their faces while his best man, Thorax, let a tear escape his eye. Spike then looked at Twilight with a smile and a nod, and decided that this was the moment. Everypony gathered here was excited to see them get married, so he also should be. With one last breath, Spike turned his frown to a small smile and waited for Sweetie to come through the doors. Luckily for him, he didn't have to wait very long.

The doors opened and the flower girls had come jumping from the back of the hall, but when Sweetie came into view, the world seemed to stop for both of them. They looked into each other's eyes and their minds seemed to slow down time. Spike took a good look at how beautiful Sweetie looked in her dress, and Sweetie Belle noticed that Spike looked extremely handsome.

When Sweetie reached the altar, Spike finally noticed her father when he came to tell him something before they got married:

"You're a good guy, Spike. I trust you with her, please take good care of my little girl for me, okay?"

Spike nodded and gave Hondo a bump with his fist. Sweetie then stood beside him and both of them looked at Twilight Sparkle, not daring to break the beautiful silence between them.

"Dear fillies and gentlecolts, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union between Spike, my faithful royal adviser, little brother and best friend." She said, making the dragon smile. "And Sweetie Belle, my apprentice and one of the best sisters-in-law that anyone could have. Now if you want to speak your wedding vows, this is the time."

Seeing that Sweetie was still a bit nervous, Spike decided to go first. "I do want to speak." Sweetie looked at him with a surprised experssion on her face, which turned into a smile when she saw him facing her. "Sweetie Belle, I would be lying if I said that I always knew we would be together. I remember having a little crush on another unicorn when I came to Ponyville."

Sweetie Belle's smile fell a bit when she heard this, and her mare of honor turned away, knowing this was directed at her. "Also, we were not enemies but we did have some fights here and there when we were kids, remember?"

Sweetie chuckled a bit. "How can I forget that?"

"Yeah, as the librarian's assistant you and your friends sometimes would cause me to have more work, but anyways, here we are, right? After having moved on from that old crush I thought I would never find true love, but I was wrong. I found you. You're so loving, sweet, caring and you've stayed by my side even in my darkest moments. I love you so much that I can't imagine my life without you. Thank you for loving this dumb and sometimes clumsy dragon, but even though I'm dumb and sometimes clumsy I swear that I will never let anything happen to you and that I will make you happy for the rest of my life."

Then, Spike noticed that Sweetie was crying tears of joy, and he too started to cry. "W-well, I guess i-it's my turn now." Said Sweetie with a shaky voice.

"Spike, the love of my life, if somepony were to ask me if I believe in true love, I would say yes inmediately because I will always think of you when that word is said. I love you, Spike, I've loved you for a long time and I will love you forever. I can't promise you that I will be a perfect bride and life with me will be perfect because I have many flaws and I know I'm not as pretty as my sister, whilst you're the most handsome guy I've ever seen. I know you deserve somepony better, but one thing that I'm sure of is my love for you, it will never end or change. I'm forever yours, Spike."

Spike, unable to resist any longer, hugged Sweetie out of nowhere. "Don't be dumb, Sweetie. I just need you, and I don't want anypony else, because you're perfect."

Feeling like tearing up again, both lovers let go of the hug. Twilight herself let a tear run on her face. "Bring the rings!"

When the rings were brought to them, Twilight placed one of the rings on Spike's finger and the ring with a golden string around Sweetie's neck.

"Now with the power granted to me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride."

Twilight almost didn't finish her sentence, Sweetie Belle grabbed Spike's shoulders and pulled him into a deep kiss. The guests were moved by the scene, and everypony celebrated, even those who had doubted their relationship at the beginning, saying that it wouldn't last; because now they were seeing with their own eyes that they were wrong, and love like this wouldn't die out ever.

At the party, after so many congratulations, hugs and kisses on their cheeks, finally had some time with each other.

"Some wedding this was, right?" Asked Spike, to which Sweetie giggled with him.

"Yes. It kinda reminds me of Princess Cadence and Shining Armor's wedding." Replied Sweetie Belle.

"Yeah? How?"

"Well, it's mostly because before the wedding I was really nervous, like today." Sweetie admitted sheepishly.

"Well that's curious."

"Why?"

"I was nervous that day and today too."

"Really?"

"Yeah, and I was kinda scared that I would screw this up somehow."

"Really? Me too!"

They stared at each other for a couple of moments before both of them laughed out loud. All their doubts and troubles for nothing! And the other felt the same way! The situation was too much to describe. Their laughter eventually stopped, but before each of them could comment on it, the lights of the room focused on Thorax and Pharynx, who were on stage and had the microphone.

"Ha, alright, everypony, me and my brother are going to sing a very special song to celebrate the couple!" Said Thorax

"Yeah, and you better enjoy it because I don't sing too often!" Said Pharynx, to which the guests laughed.

Suddenly, Sweetie Belle began draging Spike by his left claw to the dance floor. "Sweetie, what are you doing?" Asked Spike, confused.

"Don't you wanna dance? Come on, it'll be fun!" Replied Sweetie with a big smile that made Spike's heart skip a beat.

'Man, I'm so lucky to have found somepony like her.' Spike thought as he grabbed Sweetie by the waist to dance.

Four minutes later, the couples at the dance floor were finished dancing the famous song "No matter what" from Coltzone, and Spike and Sweetie Belle were a bit tired. Nevertheless, they still gave Thorax and Pharynx a couple of good cheers before they went off the stage.

The lights went down, the instruments started to sing their melody and the couples at the dance floor were now holding each other to dance a waltz. The mood changed in a pair of moments, and the couple noticed it, as everypony's gaze was now cast on them.

"I think they want us to go first." Whispered Sweetie.

"Geez, whatever gave you that idea?" Said Spike, sarcastically to which Sweetie scrunched her face. Noticing this, Spike decided to continue. "Shall we give the crowd what they want?"

Sweetie smiled in response. "Of course."

Their movements started out slow, but little by little, they began picking up the pace, now performing more complicated movements which surprised everypony, even themselves were surprised. After some moments of silence and awe from the guests, everypony soon followed after the pair and began dancing as well, which gave Spike and Sweetie Belle some privacy to talk in the dance floor.

"Spike, have you been practicing?" Asked Sweetie as Spike carried her above his head elegantly, which made her blush slightly.

"What about you? You seem more experienced at this too." Replied Spike, now holding Sweetie by her waist and the back of her mane.

"Well, I've been practicing a little since Princess Cadence and Shining Armor's wedding." Confessed Sweetie with a sheepish smile and a small blush.

"I guess that's another thing we have in common."

"You know, it's funny."

"What?"

"Everything started for us in a wedding waltz and now look at us, now we are the married couple." Said Sweetie with a dreamy sigh.

"Yeah, that's funny. I still remember how everything started right here all those years ago."

"Spike."

"Yes, Sweetie?"

"I love you."

"I love you too, Sweetie Belle."

The couple kissed, oblivious to everypony looking at them and cheering, because now their story had come to a fantastic conclusion. Even though their story as just lovers ended here, they knew their story as a happily married couple was just beginning, and that there was nothing that could happen to make it end.
