"Here it is!" Pinkie Pie picked up the box and removed the plastic game board. She set it on the table, and handed out the game pieces. Pinkie and Rainbow Dash intensely glared at the grids as they carefully arranged the miniature plastic boats. When both were ready, they began to guess. Pinkie had the first guess, shouting, "A1!" Dash, clearly frustrated, replied, "Hit." Pinkie was ecstatic as she gloated, "How'd I know?" Dash mumbled to herself, and took her turn. "C5", she randomly guessed. Pinkie relpied, "Nope!" Dash could barely contain her anger. Pinkie wasted no time. "B1!" Dash grumbled, "There goes my patrol boat", and hurled the gray piece of plastic as hard as she could.

It sailed about two feet before hitting Pinkie squarely in the forehead. "OW!", the pink pony exclaimed. "Dashie, why'd you do that!?" Realizing that she'd hurt her friend, Dash got right to apologizing. "Pinkie, I'm so sorry!" But Pinkie wouldn't have any of it. "I THOUGHT YOU WERE MY FRIEND!" she shouted as she started to sob. Dash was apologetic, but she had know way of seeing the turmoil inside Pinkie's mind. Pinkie's mind raced as she thought, If Dashie isn't my friend anymore then maybe no one is my friend and if no one is my friend then I have no one to invite to parties and if I can't throw parties I can't have fun and if I can't have fun...

Pinkie's hair flattened out, and she took on a maniacal expression. Dash groaned. She remembered what happened the last time this happened. If only she hadn't thrown the game piece... But it was too late. Pinkie tore all the pieces from her board and threw them all at Dash. "How do YOU like it?" Dash was barely able to dodge the projectiles. She hadn't realized how hard Pinkie could throw. Dash bolted out and started flying. Pinkie started flinging Dash's ships until she ran out, and bolted after Dash. Pinkie kept up surprisingly well, and chased Dash right out the door.

Dash soared up to a nearby cloud, and aimed a lightning bolt at Pinkie. A direct hit. Despite this, Pinkie was unfazed. Frantically, Dash searched for another way to keep Pinkie at bay. Thinking quickly, she made a hairpin turn, and executed a Sonic Rainboom just as she made contact with Pinkie. The sheer force of the impact sent Pinkie hurtling through the sky, and knocked her unconscious. Dash felt terrible for what she'd done, but knew she'd have to get away quickly. "I knew we should've played Connect Four instead," she mumbled to herself as she fled to Cloudsdale to hide.

Pinkie Pie couldn't believe it. Her best friend had betrayed her! She couldn't let this slide. She knew that there was only one place for Dashie to hide: Cloudsdale. She would plot her revenge on her former friend, and get Dashie back for what she'd done.

...

Rainbow Dash sulked. She had hurt Pinkie, and now Pinkie would never forgive her. The last time Pinkie did this, it was a genuine misunderstanding, but this time, it really was Dash's fault. There was no way Dash could apologize without being ripped to shreds by Pinkie. So she hid, knowing that Pinkie, an earth pony, couldn't visit Cloudsdale. Dash knew she would never see Pinkie again.

...

Meanwhile in Ponyville, Pinkie was screaming at Twilight, demanding that she cast the spell so Pinkie could walk on clouds. Twilight, however, knew better. She knew from the sight of Pinkie's hair that something was wrong. The fact that Pinkie was talking like a deranged maniac confirmed this. So she refused to cast the spell. But Pinkie knew Twilight well, and she knew exactly how to get her to crack. "If you don't cast the spell, then I'll burn ALL of your books!" She held up a box of matches and waved it in Twilight's face. "You wouldn't!" Twilight responded. "Oh, but I WOULD!" Pinkie said, as she grabbed a random book off the shelf and set it ablaze. Twilight panicked. She had no idea why Pinkie wanted to go to Cloudsdale and didn't know if Pinkie wanted to hurt somepony, but she didn't want to lose her entire library! So when Pinkie reached out to grab another book, Twilight shouted, "FINE! I'll do it!" A glow emitted from her horn and flowed into Pinkie. Pinkie suddenly felt lighter. She was still just as insane, however, and threw a match into the row of books, setting it ablaze.

...

Pinkie Pie confronted Rainbow Dash. This was it. "You're not my friend anymore!", Pinkie shouted." Dash replied, "Pinkie, I'm sorry!" But Pinkie wouldn't have it. She charged at Dash, and....

Pinkie Pie nailed Dash, and sent her hurtling through Cloudsdale, Dash was barely able to keep herself in the air. She frantically flapped her wings, and raced through the sky. Pinkie gave chase, ignoring the stares from Pegasi who were amazed at the sight of an Earth pony. Eventually, they made it to the edge of Cloudsdale. Pinkie, blinded by rage, chased Dash right off the clouds, and began a freefall straight to the ground. Dash knew that this could be her only chance to reconcile with Pinkie, and she swooped down, executing a Sonic Rainboom just in the nick of time, saving Pinkie.

Pinkie woke up, a little dazed. She asked, "If you don't like me anymore, why did you save me?" Dash replied, "I DO like you! I know I got worked up over the game, but I'm still your friend." Pinkie Pie pondered this for a second, then asked "So you don't hate me?" "Of course not", Dash said. All of a sudden, Pinkie sprung to life, back to her usual self. "Sorry, Dashie, she said". "No problem", her friend replied. "What do you say we finish playing Battleship?" Pinkie replied, "Ok, but don't think I'm going easy on you this time!" Dash laughed, and the two walked back to finish the game.
