The return of Rainbow Dash's brother. He appears to be more than a simple pegasus who was gone for a decade.
Dash is very excited in the morning. Her brother is coming back after missing for 10 years. However, some of her new friends seem to know him already. Rainbow Dash also learns more about their past. She knew she was a descendant of somepony very important. But she never knew her other ancestor.
Rainbow Dash seems very excited this morning. She woke up early. Which is strange because loves sleeping. She sleeps everywhere. She arrived early at the Wonderbolt HQ. Spitfire is shocked to see her early. She's usually almost late. "Crash is early."She said. "That's new."
"You want me to be late?"She said, rolling her eyes. Just then, the other Wonderbolts came in. Their eyes widened as they saw Dash early. "Dash is early!?"Asked Fleetfoot. Spitfire nodded.
"Okay. NOW, ALL OF YOU TO THE MESS HALL. BREAKFAST IS ABOUT TO START!"She yelled.
"YES MA'AM!"Answered the other 'bolts. They all got to the mess hall. Better listen to the Captain in the morning. Spitfire can be a total monster in the morning. One time, Lightning Streak was very late for breakfast. He got three extra hours of practice. He didn't fly for weeks! After that, they vowed never to piss off Spitfire in the morning. During breakfast, the others are talking about random things like love life.
"So. Fleetfoot is it true you like my brother, Rapidfire."Asked Blaze. Fleetfoot choked on her food and blushed furiously. The others, except Dash, smirked.
"Of course not!"She said, still blushing.
"Then, why are you blushing?"Asked Spit, smirking.
"How about you tell us if you have a crush on Wave Chill, Cap?"She teased, smirking. Spitfire blushed a little. Unlike Fleet, she can easily hide her emotions and feelings. The others snickered.
"I don't."She said bluntly. But she still can't hide her small blush.
"Sure, "Blaze answered, skeptical.
"How about we talk about High Winds and Blaze?"Suggested Misty Fly. The couple blushed. The two mares have been dating for a few months now. They still haven't told their parents since they were still afraid of their reactions. The only ones who knew about their relationship were their friends.
"How are you two?"Teased Surprise.
"Fine, I guess..."Answered Blaze, a bit embarrassed. "How about we talk about Soarindash instead."
"Who's Soarindash?"Asked Spit.
"Soarin and Rainbow Dash, duh!"Said Surprise.
"What do you think about that Crash? Crash?" Rainbow Dash wasn't listening to their conversation She seems to keep looking at the door. Her expression was a mix of impatience and excitement. This is starting to worry the others 'bolts.
"RAINBOW DASH!!"
"Huh? What?"Dash fell off her seat. The others chuckled.
"Seriously?"Said the rainbow-haired mare, glaring at the other mares.
"Not our fault if you are distracted."Said, Fleet.
"Talking 'bout distraction, what makes you so excited and distracted today?"Said Spitfire, raising a brow
"More like who. Maybe Soarin"Fleet whispered the last part, with a teasing tone.
"I heard that. And no, I'm not thinking about Soarin, but yes, I'm thinking about someone."
"Who?"They all asked, grinning as they leaned toward Rainbow.
"Do I have to?"
"YES!!!" Dash sighed. She knew she won't escape this.
"My brother is coming here."She said, smiling widely.
"Wait a sec, YOU HAVE A BROTHER!?"Said Surprise
"Yep, Got a problem with that?"
"Not at all. You just never told us."
"Wait, that's why you're so excited."Said, Misty.
"Yes."
"No offense Dash, but seeing your sibling is barely a reason to get so excited."
"Do you have a sibling?"
"No."
"She's right, Crash. And before you ask, I have two siblings, ."Confirmed Spitfire.
"Did your sibling, or should I say siblings went away and came back after a decade?" She shook her head, eyes widening.
"I thought so."
"Why did he leave?"
"Well, how old are you?"
"We're a year older than you. Spit and Fleet are two years older."Informed Misty Fly
"Do you remember the unusual storm when you 11 or 12?" They nodded.
"My brother managed to locate a trace of magic in the Everfree forest. He decided to track down the cause of the storm. He said goodbye to us and left. When he found it, or rather them, the culprits imprisoned him. He still managed to send letters to us. 6 years later, someone released him. Nopony knew who did it. And now, he is coming back. Now you know why I'm excited about seeing my bro." The mares nodded as a sign of understanding. Just then, Spitfire said:
"Its almost practice. Let's go change." The others nodded. "EVERY 'BOLT! ITS ALMOST PRACTICE SO YOU BETTER GET OUTTA HERE AND HIT THE SHOWERS OR I'LL MAKE YOU CLEAN THE COMPOUND FOR TWO MONTHS!" Everybolt got up and ran to the showers. Like they said, never, like never piss off the Captain in the morning. When they were done, everybolt was out in the gym warming up. then, Spitfire ordered them to do 100 laps. Rainbow was particularly motivated and happy today. Not that it's bad, it just rarely happens. After a fifteen-minute break, they did 500 laps. Everypony was exhausted. Except for a particular mare. Yes, you guessed right. That particular mare is Rainbow Dash. It seems that her brother gave her more strength. The others were dumbfounded.
"How *pant*are*pant*you*not*exhausted?"Said Soarin, obviously very tired.
"Don't know."She shrugged. Even Spitfire was amazed.
"Guess that brother of yours gives you strength and endurance."She said gently poking the mare on the side
"Yeah."Smirked the rainbow mare. Soarin was confused since he didn't hear the mare's conversation earlier.
"Brother?"
"Dash's brother is coming back after being gone for a decade."Explained Spitfire.
"You never told us you had a brother."Stated the stallion.
"Well, what's the point of telling you about someone you may never see?"Said Dash with a "duh" tone. Soarin grinned sheepishly. Then, they locked eyes and began to approach each other dangerously, not realizing Spitfire just behind them. The Captain was smirking widely. They would have kissed if a "just a little bit crazy" mare didn't ruin it. Can you guess who? Yes indeed, it was Surprise who ruined the Soarindash moment. To be honest, she appeared from nowhere. But when it comes to Surprise, let me give you a bit of advice. Never ask. Back to the story, Spitfire glared at the white mare while the other two stared away, blushing furiously.
"Damn it Surprise, you had to ruin the moment." Surprise ignored her and squealed like crazy at the scene she just saw.
"OMG!!! I GOTTA TELL THIS TO EVERYBOLT!!!!" She ran to the others saying: "GUYS!!! YOU WON'T BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW!! SOARINDASH IS HAPPENING!!!"
"SOARIN WHAT!?"Yelled the not-yet couple.
"Soarindash. Your ship name."Answered Spitfire, smirking.
"Our ship name!?"
"Don't ask me. They created it."The captain shrugged. Rainbow and Soarin facehoofed. They knew that if Surprise told every wonderbolt, they'll have to bear their teasing every day. And, knowing Surprise, she would tell every, I mean, everybolt, if not everypony. Spitfire decided to go to the mess hall with the other two for lunch.
"Alright guys, let's go to the mess hall."
"Yeah, I'm starving."Said Dash. When they entered, everypony present smirked at Soarin Skies and Rainbow Dash. Or Soarindash, for short. The two glared at Suprise who ignored their glare and smirked. Rainbow and Spit got the mare's table while Soarin to the stallion's. Fleetfoot was the first to react since she was the first to ship Soarindash. She created Soarindash.
"Soooooo, is it true what Surprise said? Where you and Soarin really about to kiss~?"
"NO!!"She yelled, blushing.
"You can't lie. I saw the whole scene."Spitfire said. The others were like "ooooh". Rainbow Dash was completely red now. She knew she couldn't lie since Spitfire witnessed the scene. High Winds decided to intervene since she was the second most mature of the mares since Spit is the first.
"That's enough, guys. You'll heat her up at this rate." She then took Rainbow to the mare's bathroom to calm down. Rainbow washed her face to calm down her blushing.
"You know, you and Soar ain't that bad."Windy teased.
"Not you too, Windy."
"Be grateful, I just saved you from them."
"Thanks, "Dashie said, rolling her eyes, but still gave a smile. When they went back to the mess hall, Dash glared at her fellow bolts. They gave her an apologetic smile. She sighed. She knew she can't stay mad at them. Blaze decided to bring up another topic.
"So, do you where and when will your brother come?"She asked, referring to Rainbow's brother.
"Mom and Dad said they'll send him here. About the time, he's supposed to come by-"She was interrupted by security.
"Visitor for Miss Dash."He said before leaving. Dash smiled widely before continuing: "Now." Then, she went out. The others decided to follow her except Spitfire and Fleetfoot since they were busy. When they arrived, their jaw dropped.
"Crash is early," Spitfire said. "That's new." The 'bolts' eyes widened as they saw Dash early. ALL OF YOU TO THE MESS HALL. BREAKFAST IS ABOUT TO START!"Spitfire yelled. "So. Blaze decided to bring up another topic. "So, do you where and when will your brother come?"She asked, referring to Rainbow's brother. "Mom and Dad said they'll send him here." "Visitor for Miss Dash."Security said before leaving. Dash smiled widely. Then, she went out. The others decided to follow her except Spitfire and Fleetfoot since they were busy. When they arrived, their jaw dropped.
Rainbow was hugging a quite charming stallion. He looked similar to Dash. The only differences were his fur, who was lighter than Rainbow's, and his eyes, who were pale yellow. His cutie mark was a rainbow lightning rainbow with some fading winds. (Picture on the cover) Dash's friends seem shocked to see such a charming stallion. Or maybe, there's another reason.
"Psst! Dash!"Whispered Blaze. "Can we talk for a second?"
"Can you give me a minute?"Asked Dash to her brother. The stallion nodded. Dash followed the mares back to the mess hall. "You wanted to talk to me guys?"Asked the rainbow-maned mare.
"WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US YOUR BROTHER IS A LIVING LEGEND!?"
Whisper-yelled the others.
"What are you talking about?"She asked, confused.
"Do you even know who is outside!?"Asked Misty.
"Rainbow Thunder Blitz, my brother."
"As in Blitz, the one who pulled a rainbow lightning bolt!?"Squealed Blaze.
"Yep"
"As in Blitz, the descendant of Commander Hurricane!?"Said High Winds.
"Yep"
"As in Blitz, the most handsome stallion in all of Equestria!?"Said Surprise, dreamily.
"Wait, what?"
"I heard that Surprise!"Yelled Lightning Streak, obviously jealous.
"Sorry, Lighting!" She apologized to her coltfriend.
"My brother!? Handsome!? He's uglier than a pig."
"Still! Dash! Your brother is the ruler of the pegasus tribe!"Exclaimed Misty.
"I know."Rainbow stopped to think about the point of her friends. Then, she realized. "Oh! I forgot to mention that to you, guys." The mares glared at her. Just then, Fleetfoot and Soarin appeared behind them.
"What are you guys doing here?" Asked the mare.“Aren’t you with Crash’s brother?”
"Rainbow's brother is a living legend!!"Squealed Misty.
"Really!? We gotta see that."Said Soarin. Then, the cousins went out. When they saw Rainbow's brother, their eyes widened.
"Blitz!!??"They said in unison.
"Fleetfoot! Soarin! Good to see you both again!" greeted Blitz. The greeted ponies ran and gave a big bear hug to Blitzie. Then, Rainbow Blitz noticed something. “Waiiit. If you are both here that means Spitfire is here too. Right?”
Blitz, a bit nervous, followed Fleetfoot to the hall where Spitfire's office is. Fleetfoot noticed it and asked. "You okay, Blitz?" "Y-yeah, w-why do you ask?" "Because you're walking slower and you're basically stuttering." Then, she realized. "Nervous of what Spitfire would do?" Blitz's eyes opened wide, just to confirm her statement. She laughed hard. Always the little Blitz scared of Spitfire. I still wonder how both of them are best friends. Hopefully Spitfire is in a good mood. Especially after what they almost had. Wondered Fleet.
She was snapped from her thoughts when Blitz called her. "Fleet? Fleet!" "Huh?" "Seems like you got your head in the clouds." "I was just thinking about something." "Could it be somepony? Like, a colt or stallion?" Blitz smirked as he thought about Fleet with a stallion. For Fleetfoot, well, Rapidfire came right back in her mind. She blushed so hard, unconsciously making Blitz think he was right. "So you were thinking of a stallion. Care to tell your dear old pal who it is????" "It's none of your business and look we arrived at Spit's office. Be prepared for any reaction!" Instantly, Blitz paled. He was really, like REALLY nervous. He hasn't seen Spitfire for a decade. She can be a very hot-tempered mare so anything can happen.
"Don't worry Blitz. I'll go in first if you're, you know, scared." Fleetfoot said with a smirk. "Me, scared? I'm not scared! Definitely not scared! I'm excited actually! Very very excited that it seems like I'm nervous! But I'm not, why would I be? Spitfire's my best friend!" Blitz ranted though it was obvious, he was lying. "Suit yourself. You can go in alone then." "Huh? Wait! Ugh, fine maybe you going in first may not be a bad idea after all..." Fleet grinned at the colt's answer. She knocked on the captain's door and waited for a response. In a little while, the usual answer "Come in" was heard and Fleetfoot opened the door.
"What do you want, Fleetfoot." Came the cold greeting of Spitfire. "Wow, what a way to greet your best friend. If that's how you greet me, I'm worried about what you will do to him." "To who?" "Nah, he ain't coming inside. He gonna be dead meat." "Cut the crap Fleet. Who are you talking about?" "Fine, fine. Come on in, bro."
Blitz came in with a nervously sheepish grin. Fleetfoot creeped slowly out of the office, leaving the defenseless blue colt alone with a possibly psychotic mare. "RAINBOW BLITZ!!?" The captain exclaimed as she stood up and her glasses dropped. "Hey Spitty..." Anger burst through Spitfire when she heard that sentence. Of course. "Hey Spitty". That's all he has to say after ten years!!! "Don't you hey Spitty me you little idiot ! Don't act like nothing happened! Care to explain why you were gone for 10 YEARS!!? Especially when you promised to come back for us as soon as possible!! And this is what you call "as soon as possible"!!? Do you know how long we've been waiting for you!? How long I have been waiting for you!!? But of course, you don't care! You just come back after ten years and say "Hey Spitty"!"
Blitz winced a little. He expected a lecture though he still felt a bit guilty for making them wait for so long. And the fact that his best friend thinks he doesn't care about them just hits hard. "I... I'm sorry... I don't have an excuse... You're totally right. I'm just an idiot who left and just came back after ten years like nothing happened. I have nothing to say. No excuse. You can beat me, torture me, hate me. I understand because I totally deserve it."
Spitfire was a little bit taken aback with that apology. She almost forgot that apologizing without an excuse and admitting he was wrong was one of the many qualities of her best friend. She sighed and sat back down with her eyes closed to try to calm down the still burning anger inside her. Blitz went around the table and approached her at a slow pace, to avoid any sudden angry reaction. He arrived near enough for him to put his wing around her shoulders, as a sign of comfort and affection. He knew it was hard for her to take in his arrival.
Spitfire finally stood up and hugged her long-lost best friend. Blitz returned the hug with a smile. The hug soothed Spitfire's bitterness and she decided to talk to him more softly. "What happened Blitz... What took you so long... I...I missed you, you know..." "I missed you too, Spitfire... And I'm sorry I couldn't keep the promise of coming back as soon as possible." " It's okay... The only thing that matters right now, is that you're back... And having you back is already a big thing for me..." "Seeing you again is also a big thing to me. Like imagine not seeing your best friend for a decade. That's pure hell." "I can't exactly disagree with that. I know how it feels." Both of them chuckled.
They decided to talk more about their life during the long distance so they went out for a flight. Spitire told Blitz, about her career. "... And that's how i became captain of the Wonderbolts." "Cool, you must be very talented and mature." "Well yeah. Remember how we used to pretend that we were Wonderbolts and fly all around your house?" "Of course I do. Soarin almost broke my mom's crystal vase at that time." Blitz laughed as he remembered the pegasus' face at that time. Spitfire joined him remembering the same scene.
"So what about you? What happened? All I know is that you went to see the source of the storm and they imprisoned you and now you're back after a decade. I know that's pretty much the story but I need more details." "Well actually... I was planning to tell you all the story tonight. I was going to invite the Wonderbolts for dinner. I wanted to ask you permission since you're the captain." "Well we don't have any show this week so we only have training. I guess I can make us finish early and prepare." "Sounds good. So dinner tonight is cool." Spitfire nodded. After they just continued to fly and an awkward silence began to fill the atmosphere.
Then, Spitfire brought up a peculiar subject. "What about D.D? Are you going to talk to her?" Blitz blushed when Spitfire mentioned the name, which made the mare smirk. "I- I don't know, actually." "Why so? I'm sure she missed you after not seeing you for a decade." "That's the problem. I've been gone for a decade. What makes you think she hasn't found another colt better than me. Some pony who actually stayed beside her. "True love, buddy. I know it 'cause I've been in her place. Go talk to her. Find our her address ask her out on a date. That kind of stuff." "Are you sure about this?" "Certain." "Fine... I'll try to find her." "That's the spirit, boy." "Oh, one more thing. Can I watch you train, today?" "Actually, I have a better idea." "What is it?" "You'll see. Race ya to the headquarters!" "Oh you're gonna cry when I win." And off went the two pegasi, slowly regaining their old fun as besties.
