The afternoon sun was shining brightly over Canterlot High. It was an unseasonably warm day for June but none of that mattered to Emerald Bolt. He walked quickly through the crowded hallways, pushing by other students to get to his destination. Starlight Glimmer was standing in front of her locker, grabbing books for her next class. "Guess who?" A voice came from behind her. Starlight recognized it immediately.

Starlight's face lit up as she picked up the box from his hands.

"I saw you looking at it when we were at the mall last week. Thought you might like it." He told her, realization suddenly struck Starlight.
"You didn't...!" She said, quickly opening the box. Inside was a small, silver necklace with a dark green emerald in the middle. Starlight was lost for words.

"Do you like it?" He asked.

"Damn, I gotta get to class." Emerald said. "I wish we had more classes together this year." Starlight giggled.

"Jesus, I thought she was going to take you right there in middle of the hallway." Came a voice from behind the corner.
"Were you standing there the whole time?" Emerald stopped, watching as the figure walked out of the shadows.
"Eh, give or take. It was long enough though." Silver Shine replied as he walked up to his friend. "Did she at least like the necklace?"
"She loved it, thanks for helping me get it. I'll pay you back when I get paid next week." Emerald replied. Silver laughed and put his arm around his friend.
"Ah, don't worry about it!" He laughed. "You can just remember that when I need a place to crash for a night or two." Emerald chuckled in return.
"Just hope she likes the second part of the gift..." Silver looked back at his friend.
"So, You're seriously going through with that?" Emerald pulled out another, slightly smaller box from his back pocket.
"Yeah, I think I am. We've been dating for 3 years now and she's always talking about having a future together so, I think it might be the right time." Silver looked at him and gave him a slight punch on the shoulder.
"Well, if you're happy, I'm happy." He said.
"Thanks man." Emerald replied and the two headed off to class.
The final bell ring at it's usual time. As the students made their ways home, Emerald Bolt walked over to his car. Just as he was unlocking the door, he heard rapid footsteps getting closer to him.
"Emerald!" Starlight hollered as she leaped into his arms, the two embraced in another massive hug as he twirled his girlfriend in the air before placing back down again.
"What are you doing here? I thought I was picking up after your tech club meeting?" Emerald asked, pleasantly surprised. Starlight just laughed.

"It's already 4:30. I almost forgot, I got us a reservation at 5 for dinner at Coradelo's!"

"You go get the shower started, I'll be there in a minute." He said also standing up.
"Don't take too long!" Starlight winked and walked away to start the shower. Emerald walked over and picked his clothes up off the floor. As he did, the little box, fell out of his pocket. Landing on the floor.

By the time they had gotten cleaned up and dressed, a slight rain had begun to fall outside. Neither of them minded, they liked the way everything looked as the drive through the city. It was a very busy place. Emerald walked up to the counter.
"Reservation for two, please. Under the name, Bolt." He spoke politely. The waitress checked the reservation sheet to indeed find his name there.
"Ah, yes. Mr. Bolt, party of two. Right this way please." She said, grabbing to menu's and leading the couple to their seats. They soon sat down and began going over the menu.

"Are you sure, Emerald? I can pay if you want. You've already done so much for me tonight." Emerald chuckled.
"No, Starlight. I'm serious. We're celebrating tonight. Don't you worry about a thing." Starlight smiled at him.
"Thank you, Emerald." She said, putting her hand on his. Emerald just smiled back at her. The two had an amazing dinner. Once they were done, Emerald paid the bill and they two began walking back to his car. Starlight wrapped her arms around Emerald as they walked along.
"Oh Emerald, thank you for such an amazing night. I'm never going to forget it." Emerald chuckled and kissed her forehead.
"Well, it's not exactly over yet." He said. Starlight perked up, confused.
"What do you mean?"
"I have one more thing I want to do. But it's a surprise." Emerald replied. Starlight couldn't help but wonder what Emerald had in store. The two walked on a bit further to a courtyard just off the main road. It over looked a small marina on the river. Boats were docked for the night with parties going on on most of them. The two walked up to the deck that looked down on the river. The lights sparkled with the rain and reflected on the river. This was one of Starlight's favorite places in the city. There were only a couple of people standing around in the courtyard as Starlight and Emerald walked in. They sat down on the edge of the fountain in the center. Starlight glanced up at Emerald.
"I stand corrected. Now, I'm never going to forget this." She smiled, laying her head on his shoulder.
"Did you have a nice night, Starlight?" he asked quietly.
"Absolutely perfect. Thank you, Emerald." She replied sweetly while looking around and taking in everything. Then, Starlight noticed something. She looked around again.
"Mom? Dad?" She asked, two figures turned around.
"Oh hey, Glimmy-Dear!" Her father said walking up to them.
"What are you two doing here? I thought you were working late?" Starlight asked.
Well, actually... We uh, didn't." Her mother added.
"Emerald asked us all here." Her father explained. Starlight was even more confused.
"All of us?" She asked, looking around. As she did, more of the people in the courtyard turned around to reveal themselves.
"Huzzah, The Great and Powerful Trixie, master of disguise, is here!" Trixie shouted throwing her cape back around.
"Trixie!?" Starlight began to notice more and more of her friends were there.
"Twilight!? Sunset!? How- what are you all doing here!?" She asked, stunned.
"I asked them all to come." Emerald finally spoke up.
"I'm glad you're all here, but why?" Starlight asked as she hugged her parents.
"For this." Emerald said from behind her. Starlight turned around to find, Emerald, down on one knee.
"Starlight." Emerald began. "Since the first day we met, I fell madly in love with you. I've heard some of the things you've said to me about having a future together. Even if you didn't think I was listening" He chuckled. "Now that we're three years into this relationship with no signs of slowing down, I really want to make that more than just talk. I want to make it a reality. So, I have a very important question for you." Emerald dug into his pocket and pulled out the small, black box and opened it. Inside was a small ring with a shiny emerald, matching that of the one on her necklace, on it. Starlight had tears streaming down her checks.
"Starlight Glimmer, will you marry me?" Emerald said placing the ring in front of Starlight, looking up at her. Now in a full blown cry, Starlight leaned down close to Emerald, looking at the ring.
"Y-yes, Emerald Bolt, I will marry you!" She blurted out through her tears, quickly placing the ring on her finger and pulling him into a long kiss.
"SHE SAID YES!!!" Emerald shouted. Everyone present cheered! Starlight and Emerald gazed lovingly into each other's eyes.
"I love you, Starlight Glimmer." Emerald said quietly.
"And I love you, Emerald Bolt." Starlight replied, pulling him into another kiss. Then, a voice interrupted.
"You actually did it, you crazy son of a bit-"
"That's good, Silver" Emerald said cutting him off. Silver just laughed.
"Congrats, you two." He finally said seriously, giving them a hug. Emerald and Starlight laughed.
"I hope now it won't be a night to forget!" Emerald whispered as he kissed her on the top of her head. Starlight just smiled.
"You really are the best boyfr- fiance in the world." She replied looking back up at him.
"Come on you guys!" Silver shouted from on top of the boats. "The party boat is about to leave."
Emerald and Starlight looked at each other confused.
"Did he rent that boat? Or just jump on it." Starlight asked.
"I'm hoping the first one." Emerald responded as he saw the rest of the guest hoping on the boat.
"Ready to go then?" Emerald asked sweetly, Starlight giggled.

And the two headed off into the night, ready to start their new life together.
