Practice Makes Perfect

Two mares who've never been kissed wanting to practice with each other is perfectly normal. Isn't it?

There's no shame in being inexperienced, even if you've never been kissed. And if you have a friend in a similar situation, why shouldn't the two of you try to practice with one another? Just a little, so you're ready for the real thing and have a little more experience. Besides, there's nothing wrong with kissing your friend!

And as they say, "practice makes perfect!"

Session 00 (Bragging)

Cider, Twilight thought, was in some ways quite superior to wine. While she had never had the most discerning of palates it was still a treat to sample some from time to time. It, however, lacked the same nuance of spice that made the contents of the small keg Applejack had brought over so delightful.

At least, that's what she was thinking through a lovely little haze while doing her best to ignore Rainbow’s various gestures and motions as she bragged about her latest interaction with some stallion. The would-be Wonderbolt had her hands held out in front of her, as if wrapped around an invisible...endowment in a way that Twilight was quite sure was exaggerated. She’d read anatomy books--she knew they weren’t that big!

“And while I'm just goin’ to town he can’t even move, too busy grabbing my hips and trying to hold on and keep up, so anyway I start doin’ this thing with my butt and really riding him hard, I can feel his dick inside me and I just slam down and kiss him, shoving my tongue down his throat, and I feel him start to, y’know, clench and buck and--” Rainbow was saying as she held her hands in front of her and thrust. Applejack was just rolling her eyes and nodding along, as if she’d heard it before, while poor Fluttershy was practically hiding behind a couch cushion. . Pinkie seemed to be taking notes, worryingly enough.

Rarity, however, had had enough it seemed. “Rainbow, really now! I know a little gossip can be fun, but must you go into such vulgar detail about your conquests?” she interrupted, sounding beyond exasperated as she sipped cider from a delicate little cup.

Dash snorted. “Ah c’mon, don’t be a spoilsport! Just because you haven’t gotten laid recently doesn’t mean I can’t share a little of my fun!”

“A Lady does not kiss and tell, Miss Dash!” Rarity said with a sniff. Twilight could hear the capital L. It was rather well done--too many of the nobles she’d met at various functions tried to pronounce every word as if they were just so terribly important, which lessened the effect.

Dash rolled her eyes. “Yeah, yeah, whatever you say. Like you’ve never talked about the juicy bits. C’mon, some of you had to have had some fun worth sharing recently! AJ, you get hot and heavy with any of the farmhands recently?” she asked with a lascivious grin, eyebrows bouncing.

Applejack shrugged. “Nah, but I had a tumble with Thunderlane a couple nights ago. Pretty nice, let off some steam. Held up longer’n I thought he would,” she drawled, taking another swig of cider.

Dash stared at her, practically vibrating on the spot. “...That's it? ‘Pretty nice’? C’mon, you gotta have more details than that!”

AJ chuckled. “Nah, not really. We had fun, both went home sore. All you need to know, Miss Ten-Seconds-Flat.”

Dash flopped back onto her chair, groaning. “C’mon guys! Someone’s gotta have a story! I mean, Pinkie?” she asked.

The ever-energetic girl grinned wide. “Well I did have some fun last week that used up two whole cans of whipped cream, but I don’t think I should talk about who I was with, they don’t want people to know they’re in an open relationship, but I have a date behind the barn tomorrow night, but I don’t think Big Mac wanted AJ to find out, but I also have a date with Thunderlane the night after that, and he asked me to bring chocolate sauce, but I don’t know if he means chocolate chocolate or triple chocolate shell coating, or white chocolate supreme, so I’m just gonna bring’em all, I hope he uses the last one it’s really yummy and looks fun when splashed all over my-”

Applejack, at that point, shoved an apple fritter into Pinkie's mouth. “Alright girls, maybe we’ve had a bit too much cider,” she said, giving the pink pony a lingering look that promised a Talk with her brother later. “And it’s gettin’ kinda late, maybe we should start packin’ it in.”

Dash let out an exasperated huff. “C’mon! I mean, someones gotta have a cool story! Flutter--” She paused, reconsidering, and gestured to Twilight. “Twilight, how about you?”

Twilight blinked and tilted her head curiously. “Are you asking me to talk about my, um, dating life?” she asked, quite happy that her cheeks were already flushed from the alcohol in the cider, and couldn’t show how she felt about the question.

Dash snorted. “I’d rather hear about your sex life, Sparks, I mean you’re from Canterlot. I’ve heard all kinds of wild stories about what people get up to up there!” she said with a lewd grin on her face, hands gesturing in arcanely obscene ways that Twilight refused to think about.

Twilight shrugged, shaking her head. “Sorry to disappoint, Rainbow, but I never really had time for all of that. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a date, or even kissed someone.”

Dash slumped further in her chair, groaning. “Laaaaaame! You’re all so boring!”

Rarity stood, gesturing as her horn lit. “That's quite enough of that, Miss Dash. If you’re going to be insulting to your host, perhaps Applejack is right.” she nodded to Twilight who just looked on, bemused, as a struggling Rainbow was lifted from her seat.

“Hey, woah, put me down!” she yelled, thrashing in mid-air. Her flailing wings send gusts of wind about, knocking over a stack of book returns.

“Oh, I am sorry about that Twilight! I’ll make sure the ruffian gets home safe and come back to help!” Rarity said as she headed to the door with Rainbow in tow.

“Don’t worry about it!” Twilight called, waving off Applejack as the farm-pony started to pick them up. A gesture and a light of her horn had the books floating back into place. “I’ll get these resorted and see you all later!”

Applejack took her leave after that, one-arming the small cask of cider as she nodded her good-byes.

“Do you want me to leave too?” asked the yellow pegasus, still hiding behind her hair and shrinking back in her chair.

Twilight shook her head with a smile. “No, no, it’s alright. You can finish your cider at least, it’s really tasty,” she said as she began to reshelve. Behind her, Fluttershy’s small tea-cup of cider vanished under the waterfall of pink that was her mane.

A minute or so later, just as Twilight reached “An Idiots Guide to Thaumic Physics” Fluttershy spoke up again. “I...um. I’ve never kissed anyone either.”

Twilight glanced back, seeing that the pegasus had pushed half of her mane back up, exposing some of her face. She looked a little flushed.

“Would you...maybe um. Maybe we could...try to...practice it? With...each other?”

Session 01 (Starting Slow)

Twilight was puttering about the library when she heard the knock at her door. Though she’d only lived in this strange little town for a few months now, the purple unicorn had come to know her new friends fairly well. Applejack, for instance, always knocked the same way--three heavy raps of her knuckles against the door, sure to be heard. Rainbow Dash announced herself with a flurry of rapid pounds, while Rarity used the bell with almost musical rhythm. And Pinkie, of course, usually honked a horn. A horn Twilight still hadn’t found.

The quiet, barely audible taps that Twilight heard now could only be the last member of their odd little group of friends.

The purple unicorn froze momentarily before closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, nervously smoothing down the front of her dress. She put a smile on and went to answer the door despite the knots in her belly.

The door closed behind the butter yellow pegasus, shutting out the light of the setting sun and leaving them in a quiet moment. It let Twilight get a good look at the green sweater Fluttershy wore, the one with a sash-like trail of pink butterflies going from waist to shoulder. They matched a similar butterfly sewn into the bottom of her knee length skirt. Her wings framed the view, even tucked in as they were. The pegasus clasped her hands at her waist and she seemed to find the floor of the Golden Oaks Library rather interesting. After far too long a silence, both tried to break the quiet at once:

“Hello-Oh, I’m sorry--you go--”

The two lapsed back into quiet for a moment before Twilight gave an only slightly forced chuckle. “This is...more awkward than I thought it would be.” That was a lie. It was exactly as awkward as she had feared. “Why don’t we sit down? Spike’s at a sleepover, so we shouldn’t be interrupted.”

She led her friend into the main room and paused for a moment, studying the seating options. It didn’t take a genius intellect to picture the two of them on the couch, sitting at opposite ends, too far away from one another to do what...well, they were here to do. To...practice.

Instead, she sat in one of the loveseats that was sandwiched between two book-cases. A perfect little reading nook. Fluttershy sat beside her, studying her hands resting in her lap.

“..So you...still want to, then?” the quiet pegasus asked, barely audible, her cheeks slightly flushed at just the thought.

Twilight took another breath and smiled again. “...Yeah. I think it’ll be...an interesting experience! And, well, we both, well, last night, we both did admit we wanted to...practice.” She quashed down the twisting feeling that brought up. There was no shame in being inexperienced, even at their ages. “I’ve been reading books about it all day! You know, um, techniques and things and the history of--like, oh, i found this out, did you know there was no cultural tradition of oral affection among the unicorn nobility until the third generation of the Platinum line of succession, when Princess Bezel married an earth pony and insisted on a fused wedding ceremony…”

Twilight’s nerve-fueled babble trailed off as she looked over her friends almost hunched over form. She could see that Fluttershy’s hands were trembling, despite their tight grasp on one another. Unthinkingly, she scooted closer until their legs pressed together and covered her friends hand with her own. “You’re really nervous, aren’t you? I’m sorry. We don’t have to do this if you don’t want to, Fluttershy,” she said quietly.

Finally, the yellow pegasus looked up, eyes wide. “But I do!” she gasped, before ducking her head down. “I-I mean...We talked about it last night. A-and I..do want to practice. I just, I’ve never...k-kissed anyone. I mean, I told you that before, but...you want to practice, right? And so do I. S-so maybe I could...be confident when somepony…” she trailed off, looking down again as one of her legs began to bounce.

Twilight was quiet for a moment before she gently pulled one of Fluttershy’s hands away from the other. “It’s alright. I mean...I haven’t either. So maybe we can just go really slow? It’s not like we’re in a big hurry, or anything.” She paused, blinking as a thought struck her. “Unless there’s someone you really want to practice for?” she asked cautiously, only to receive a quick head-shake from her friend. “Alright. How about this then. Like I said, I read a few books--” don’t tell her how many don’t tell her how many “--and we can take this one step at a time. Like...well…”

Twilight shifted her grip on Fluttershy’s wrist, sliding her hand down until she could twine her fingers with the pegasus’. Fluttershy’s leg stopped bouncing as Twilight leaned against her. “...Holding hands,” she said quietly. She gave her friend’s hand a gentle squeeze and had to bite back an abrupt giggle when she returned it a second later. Wrist pressed to wrist, she could feel Fluttershy’s pulse thrum against her own, and it only made her aware of just how fast her own heart was beating.

“See? This isn’t so bad, is it?” Twilight asked. She could almost feel the shift in body language as Fluttershy cracked a smile.

“N-no, it’s really not. It’s...kind of nice. I-I don’t know if I’m ready for kissing, though…” she whispered.

Twilight bit her lip in concentration, spinning through the dozen or so books she’d read through earlier in the day. “Well, maybe we don’t start with...um. Kissing on the lips? There are other kinds. I read about an earth pony tradition that sounded nice…”

Slowly, giving her friend time to put a stop to it, Twilight lifted the hand she was holding. Fluttershy looked up, seeming almost startled as Twilight's lips pressed against the back of her hand.

Twilight felt like she was mashing her lips against her friend’s skin, feeling clumsier than when she’d first started practicing her telekinesis. But the sight of Fluttershy’s cheeks flushing red drove that out of her mind. “It’s really cute when you blush like that.” she said with a grin.

She knew she’d made a mistake instantly as Fluttershy let out a strangled little “Eep!” and snatched her hand away, leg picking up the pace it had set before. Twilight opened her mouth, but couldn’t think of what to say. The silence stretched out.

“...I’m sorry,” whispered Fluttershy, so quietly Twilight had to strain to hear her. “I’m not...I don’t like it when people...look at me. I-it makes me n-nervous.”

Twilight nodded slowly, and let her hand rest on Fluttershy’s wrist again. “I shouldn’t have said anything then. I’m sorry. Um...If that's making things harder for you, maybe it would help if I closed my eyes?” she suggested, rewarded with her friend lifting her gaze once more and blinking at her curiously.

“That...might work,” Fluttershy said slowly. “Would you be ok with that?”

Twilight just smiled and closed her eyes in response. “I won’t open them again until you tell me it's ok,” she said, letting her hand slide over Fluttershy’s again. She felt a fluttery feeling deep in her belly when she felt her friend take her hand.

“A-alright,” Fluttershy whispered. Twilight was far more aware of the feel of her now that her eyes were closed. Aware of things she hadn’t consciously noticed before. She could feel the thrum of her friend’s heartbeat against her wrist again, but she could tell it was starting to slow a little. She could feel just a little of the tension leave Fluttershy’s body, feeling her relax by millimeters.

Twilight leaned in unconsciously. She could smell something, something….floral. With a hint of honey?

She almost flinched when something touched her face. She held still as she felt fingertips glide over her cheek. They weren’t trembling anymore. The pulse she could feel through Fluttershy’s wrist had slowed considerably. Still, both their hearts were beating faster than normal. At least, Twilight was pretty sure this exceeded a normal unicorn resting heart rate.

The fingertips traced down over her lips and Twilight leaned forward just a little, pressing a kiss to the first two. She could hear Fluttershy’s breathing hitch a little and wondered if she’d done something wrong, if she’d misunderstood something in her books--but her friend’s whisper put her at ease.

“I-I think I-I’d like to try...n-now...if that’s okay...” Fluttershy’s voice was so quiet, but Twilight could hear her clearly in the silent library. More than that, she could feel the little eddies of breath against her skin. How close was she? How close were their faces?

Twilight nodded slowly, and tried to remember what her books had told her. She wasn’t prepared for this, but she could remember...don’t pucker. Just lean in. Tilt your head to the side a little…

Something soft pressed against her lips and Twilight froze for a moment, trying desperately to remember everything she had just been thinking of. Fluttershy pulled away after just that soft brushing though.

“H-how was it?” she asked in a breath-soft murmur, and Twilight smiled.

“It was really nice. Can we...do it again?” s he asked, leaning forward a little more. She heard a giggle and could feel Fluttershy leaning in again.

Unfortunately, it’s a little hard to judge trajectory and angles with your eyes closed without practicing. So as soon as their lips met again so did their foreheads, with an almost audible ‘thunk’.

Twilight’s eyes snapped open as she flinched back, staring into Fluttershy’s own as they both clutched their heads. They both burst into loud giggles, cheeks flushing red.

“M-maybe that's enough for tonight,” Fluttershy suggested once their fit of laughter had subsided.

Twilight wanted to object, but just nodded with a smile. “But...maybe we can try again soon?”

Fluttershy’s cheeks flushed darker red, but she nodded. “I’d like that.”

Session 03 (Careful Positioning)

There wasn't any of the awkward shuffling about one another like the first night when Flutershy arrived. Twilight took her friend's hand in her own once she’d shed her jacket and led her back, nattering on about her latest studies until they reached the same loveseat.

It felt strangely comfortable to Twilight. She’d never used it much before this, preferring the quiet of her own study, but with the library closed for the evening and Spike helping Rarity out, the place held a cozy sort of ambiance. Of course, that might just have been the company.

“I’m really glad you came again,” Twilight said once they’d taken their seat, sharing a smile with Fluttershy, who returned it with a small one of her own.

“Well, you know what they say about...practice and everything,” she mumbled in response, ducking her head down as the flush in her cheeks deepened.

Twilight bit back a giggle--it was just so adorable--as she brought Fluttershy's hand up to kiss the back of it. A gentle, lingering press of her lips elicited a giggle from her friend. Fluttershy pulled Twilights hand back, cupping it in both of hers and gently pressing her lips against it. The unicorn blushed as she felt a strange warmth blossom from that featherlight touch.Three times she felt that gentle brush over a few seconds, and she couldn’t look away.

It took her a moment to remember how talking worked. It felt like something was going to fly up out of her stomach if she opened her mouth. But, still, she asked, “Fluttershy? Do you want me to close my eyes again before we, um...start?” The unicorn scooted a bit closer as her friend nodded. Her eyes closed, she leaned forward a little, excited to continue what they’d started the other night.

Twilight was still quite new to having friends and being social, but at the same time, she was always rather detail-oriented. It came with the territory--when you were measuring the thaumic resonance inherent to certain Equestrian flora and how it affected its usage in traditional zebra alchemy you needed to be able to notate every little variant you saw, whether that was spotting a number just barely out of place on a readout, or noting how Moon-Blossom petals had a different sheen depending on when they were picked.

Maybe having her eyes closed helped her to notice it. Maybe being just a little more at ease than she had been before. Maybe just having read a little bit more of her friend's body language from so close let her notice the little twitch, almost a wince, as Fluttershy bent and leaned towards her. The little librarian in her head raced through the shelves to where she’d stuck the memory of pegasus anatomy that she’d read earlier in the week as she paused mid-motion, and asked, “Fluttershy, are you comfortable? I mean, um, physically. Are your wings cramped? Should we, er, move or change positions or something?”

“Kind of. I...do like this little nook though, I don’t want to move from it...unless you do? But um...maybe I could…” Fluttershy trailed off into an inaudible whisper, looking down once more as Twilight’s eyes cracked open.

Twilight smiled and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. “Whatever you want, we can try it. We both need to be comfortable if we’re going to, ah, practice.” She still felt her cheeks flush whenever she put it into words. “Just...make yourself as comfortable as you can.”

Fluttershy nodded slightly, looking down. “Maybe...um. I’ll try something. Let me know if it’s not okay?” Twilight just nodded and closed her eyes again. Her hand felt oddly empty without Fluttershy’s holding it as the pegasus stood.

Whatever Twilight had been expecting, Fluttershy settling onto her lap was not it. Twilight’s eyes snapped open and she shifted in surprise. It was just enough to overbalance Fluttershy, who let out a little squeak as she started to tilt back too far, grabbing for Twilight.

Twilight tried to catch her, but spending all your time doing your heavy lifting with magic doesn’t give you a whole lot of muscle to work with. Even hefting as heavy a bookbag as she normally did wasn’t enough to let her arrest Fluttershy’s fall back. And, distracted and surprised as she was, she didn’t think to use her telekinesis (until several days later when it prompted a loud groan in the middle of brushing her teeth). All her attempt did was throw more weight onto an already unbalanced load.

Both of them went sliding and toppling off the love seat, Twilight only just managing to stop her head from smacking into Fluttershy’s, her shoulders and neck twinging with the effort of keeping herself up.

“I’m so sorry! Are you okay?” Twilight asked as she stared into her friend's face. Fluttershy was blinking back up at her with an odd expression as she shifted slightly.

“Y-yes…” she whispered, and Twilight quite abruptly became aware of a few details she hadn’t quite processed:

Fluttershy had a hand wrapped around the back of Twilight's neck, a soft pressure that seemed to urge her closer.

Twilight's arms were wrapped around Fluttershy in something approaching a hug--one curled around her side, hand pressed tight under the base of a wing, while the other was acting as a cushion for Fluttershy’s head, ensuring she hadn’t hit it against the wooden floor, her weight resting on her elbows.

She was practically laying atop Fluttershy, half-sprawled together as they were. She could feel the soft swell of her friend’s breasts pressing against her own, just tight enough that she could make out the subtle line where the cup of the pegasus’s bra was against her own. Twilight had already known that her friend was more generously endowed than she was, but now she was aware of it, aware of the gentle pressure change from their breathing as they stared at one another. She could feel taut muscles trembling under her fingers as her friend's wings twitched, half-flared out from the fall. Fluttershy’s fingers shift slightly against the back of her neck--not pulling, not pushing, closer to stroking. Sliding down, fingertips starting to glide over the side of the unicorns neck the same way they’d stroked her cheek the other night.

Twilight was forever a thinking creature, but in this instant she didn’t. She closed her eyes and leaned down before thought could put in its two cents and let her lips touch Fluttershy’s. For a terrible instant as her friend shifted beneath her, it felt like she’d made a mistake. But she wasn’t pushed away--the pegasus leaned her head up, lips moulding against hers. Fluttershy's hand slid back up to gently grasp the back of Twilight's neck, her other arm wrapping around the unicorn's side, fingers flexing against her back doing the oddest thing as they let their kiss go on and on.

When it finally broke they were both breathing harder, foreheads pressed together.

“I-I think we jumped ahead in the book a little,” Twilight said with a giggle that Fluttershy echoed.

“That was...really nice.” the pegasus murmured. She shifted slightly and smiled sheepishly up at Twilight. “But, um..c-could we get up? T-this is really, really nice, but the floor isn’t very comfortable.”

Twilight carefully scrambled up, cheeks burning, and offered a hand to Fluttershy. She felt a little thrill in her chest when the pegasus kept ahold of her hand. The two sat once more--Twilight first, and then Fluttershy, carefully settling herself onto the unicorn's lap. The librarian wound up with one arm wrapped around Fluttershy’s waist, hand on her hip, and the other resting on her legs.

“I...um. I’d like t-to try again...” Fluttershy said. “That is, um, if you wanted to keep going?” she continued, cheeks a lovely shade of pink.

Twilight nodded rapidly with a wide smile. She reached up, cupping the side of Fluttershy’s face as the pegasus leaned down. It didn’t feel awkward at all to close her eyes, letting their faces meet once more. Her lips felt so soft...time seemed to lose meaning as they kissed. She felt Fluttershy’s lips part wider, her own matching, and for a moment she wondered if she dared---

Tap tappa tap tap tappa tap! A musical knock at the door, followed by the doorknob rattling as it opened. Time slowed down in a much more horrible way as Twilight shifted, feeling Fluttershy’s wings flap once, and by the time the door was open, they were both sitting in chairs a short distance from their loveseat, with just enough time for Twilight to wonder where the pot of tea had come from.

“Twilight! Oh I am so sorry to come barging in like this, but Spike is being such a dear little helper, and he doesn’t want to admit it, but I think he left his toothbrush here! I just wanted to nip by and grab--” Rarity came up short as she spied the two of them, pausing mid-word. “Oh! I am dreadfully sorry! I hope I’m not interrupting something!”

“Oh, no! Twilight and I were just, um. Talking,” Fluttershy said before Twilight could form a word, raising a teacup to her lips. She seemed surprised that it was empty.

“Oh, well, I wouldn’t want to interrupt your conversation! Twilight, if it’s no trouble, can you tell me where his toothbrush is?” Rarity said, pretending not to notice.

Twilight gestured to the stairs. “Bathroom’s the third door on the left, his is the green one with the hooked end for digging scraps out from between his fangs,” she said quickly.

“Oh thank you ever so much! If i may be just a little nosy, though, what are you having such a spirited conversation about?” Rarity asked with an odd little smile. Twilight once again opened her mouth--

“I was inviting Twilight to a sleepover. I..heard about how much fun you all had last month, so I...um. Was...wondering if she...would be interested? Maybe this saturday?” Fluttershy beat her to it again.

It took Twilight a second to realize it was an actual question, one actually directed at her in fact. She blinked, trying to process it, but still hadn’t quite recovered from recent events. It took an uncomfortably long moment of Rarity staring at the two of them with her confusing little smile before Twilight blurted out, “That sounds amaz--really fun! I’d love to! Saturday sounds great!” Even she wasn’t sure how much of her enthusiasm was real vs forced. She must have imagined the little squee she heard from Fluttershy.

“It’s a d--it’s settled then! I really should be going though, Angel gets up to so much mischief if I leave him alone for too long. Thank you for the tea, Twilight! I-I’ll see you Saturday!” Fluttershy said, before performing a passable imitation of Rainbow Dash, leaving a confused, yet oddly excited Twilight behind.

Twilight stared at her empty teacup for a long moment, frozen in place as she considered what she’d just agreed to with a feeling of warmth growing deep in her chest.

Rarity stared at her friend for a minute before coughing quietly. “I’ll just...get Spike’s toothbrush then…”

Session 06 (The Sleepover)

View Online

Twilight stared at the door in the same way she had been for the past ten minutes. She had become very familiar with the pattern of the wood grain, the gentle waves that seemed almost unique to each board that made up the whole structure. She was in the process of trying to work out, mathematically, how likely it was that any two boards were from the same tree based off a study of the grain pattern and it’s inherent tie to the tree’s age and health and she certainly wasn’t procrastinating because she was insanely nervous about spending a night with her g--good friend who she’d been practicing mildly amorous activities with for some time now friends did that all the time didn’t they?

She was on roughly her fifth loop of this little spiral when a sharp pain in her shin made her yelp and look down with a flinch. Twilight locked eyes with a very unamused looking bunny. He had his tiny arms crossed and one foot impatiently tap-tap-tapping against the ground, and as she watched, he made a gesture that rather easily conveyed, Well, get on with it!

Twilight closed her eyes, and ran through the little calming ritual she’d been taught as a filly. Deep breath...hold....release and sweep away the nerves. Deep breath...hold...release and sweep away the nerves. Deep breath....

Twilight knocked on the door. She barely got two knocks in before it swung open, revealing a smiling Fluttershy.

“You came! I didn’t--uh, I mean, please come in!” Fluttershy squeaked excitedly. Twilight stepped inside and paused for a moment as everything hit her at once. First off was the scent--she had expected something rather...earthier from her friends cottage, but the place smelled mostly of lavender and...cinnamon? The place was extremely clean, with no sign of animal fur or feathers. She could hear a soft twittering from the ceiling’s exposed rafters and the occasional scurrying, but the place just felt very….lived in, rather than overrun as she’d secretly feared.

Wait, wasn’t she forgetting some-“Thank you for having me over!” Twilight said when she realized how long she’d just been standing there.

“Of course! I-I did invite you, after all,” Fluttershy said, ears perking up at a ding from what Twilight assumed was the kitchen. “I need to check on the cinnamon rolls! Please, have a seat!”

The pegasus rushed off, leaving Twilight to set her bag--packed carefully in accordance with her studies on the art and science of sleepovers--by the couch and settle on it. The setting sun slanted through the many windows the cottage had, lending everything a wonderful amber radiance. It was very relaxing.

After a moment, Twilight became aware that she was being watched. It was a singularly unnerving feeling, and she couldn’t tell where it was coming from. A moment later, she realized that she could hear Fluttershy in the kitchen--an oven opening, some quiet humming--and absolutely nothing else. Slowly, she looked up to where the birds had been softly twittering before, only to find well over a dozen sets of eyes locked on her, including a few perched on either side of truly nasty looking beaks.

She cast her eyes down, and saw dozens of small critters--rats, mice, ferrets, a pair of snakes, was that a badger?!--staring not so much at her, as into her. The tension stretched on for an agonizing minute as Twilight wondered if she was being...weighed? Judged? Condemned? On and on, like a rubber band, and she just knew something would happen when it snap--

“A few minutes of cooling while the icing sets, and they’ll be ready!” Fluttershy called as she stepped back in, wiping her hands on a dishrag. The birds twittered quietly, the mice and rats and snakes and the badger trundled along and played with one another, and Twilight wondered if she’d just had a hallucinogenic episode.

“Y-you made cinnamon rolls?” she asked rather than think about what just happened. A drowning mare will swim for any shore. “Is that what that smell is? It smells delicious!”

-|-

Twilight hadn’t thought changing into her pajamas would have changed the mood at all, but it had. Settling onto Fluttershy’s comfortable couch with her in her own--lime green with little carrots all over them, while Twilight’s were a pale blue with lavender stripes--she felt...relaxed and at ease, in a way she hadn’t since she’d arrived. Maybe the third cinnamon roll had helped.

Fluttershy sat up and sighed happily, stretching. Twilight’s eyes dipped for a moment. Her eyes paused for a moment at the swell of her friend's breasts, before sliding down further. A line of yellow was exposed by the stretch, and an idle part of Twilight's brain wondered what it would feel like to run her hands along that line. Caressing there, letting her hand slide up a little, under her pajama top.

A little cough pulled her out of her ramblings, and she had to fight not to go bright red as she realized how long she’d just been staring at her friend. Fluttershy, however, didn’t look nearly as nervous as she normally did. A little, yes, but nowhere close to how she usually was at the start of their...practice sessions.

“So, um. I know it’s a little early to go to bed, but I thought...well, we don’t have to, but I’d like to have another...um. I’d like to...practice again? But I think it’d be more comfortable there,” Fluttershy said, cheeks a delicate pink. “I...really liked when we kissed while...um. L-laying down,” she continued, and Twilight could feel her own cheeks heating up a little at the memory. The thought of that again sent a little jolt through her, and some of that heat pooled down, lower in her core.

“I think that's a wonderful idea!” she said excitedly and only a little nervously.

Fluttershy’s smile widened just a little and she stood, offering her hand to the purple unicorn.. To Twilight's surprise Fluttershy gave a little tug once she’d stood, pulling her closer. The pegasus leaned in, and pressed her lips lightly against her friend’s. It took Twilight a moment to respond, shocked by Fluttershy’s uncharacteristic forwardness

It was just a moment though, before she was leaning into the kiss. Fluttershy’s lips were soft againsts hers, and when she let her tongue touch them for a too-brief moment, she tasted cinnamon and the gentle honey-sweet taste of the tea that had accompanied dinner.

Twilight felt something touch her lips, and then pushed past. Fluttershy leaned in closer, one arm sliding around Twilight's waist as the unicorn realized her friend's tongue was in her mouth!

She’d always privately though such displays were just a little...disgusting when she’d seen them before. But this...she couldn’t describe it. She could taste...well, cinnamon and honey, but she felt so close, so...intimate.

The two pulled back almost simultaneously, breathing hard. Fluttershy’s cheeks were a bright pink, and she was fighting to look Twilight in the eye as she smiled slightly. “T-too much?” she asked.

Twilight’s rapid head-shake seemed to put her even more at east.

Their fingers twined together, Fluttershy led the purple unicorn up to her bedroom.

Fluttershy’s bed was incredible. It sank under Twilight weight as she settled onto it, but didn’t give her the smothering, gripped-on-all-sides-sinking-into-marshmallow feeling some of the beds back in the palace in Canterlot had.

Most of that was only registering unconsciously, because Fluttershy was settled next to her, their legs touching. The pegasus wings stretched out in a way Twilight hadn’t seen before, and one actually curled around her for a moment--a moment far too short, as far as she was concerned. Those feathers brushing against her back as the wing re-folded itself sent a strange thrill through the unicorn. Concentrating so much on that, she was surprised to feel a hand on her cheek. She turned at its touch, and Fluttershy’s face was right there.

Their lips met as the pegasus leaned in, and Twilight felt Fluttershy’s lips part again. Her eyes widened as Fluttershy leaned further in. Her wings spread and curled, and Twilight could feel the tip of her tongue running over her own lips.

The unicorn pulled back, breaking the kiss with a little gasp. Uncertainty flit across Fluttershy’s face, and the pegasus shrank back, wings folding behind her once more. “I-I’m sorry. Was it too much?” she asked quietly, looking down.

Twilight could feel her hand pulling away and gave it a squeeze as she put on a smile. “No, no, I just--I wasn’t expecting you to be so...forward. Not that I didn’t like it! It was really really nice. Just...unexpected.”

The pegasus hesitated, mouth half open, and reached up with her free hand to toy with a length of pink hair. “I’m sorry,” she murmured. “I just...I feel...better here? S-safer. Not that the library isn’t wonderful, but I’m always...worried. About people walking in and s-seeing...me.” Her voice shrank, until the last was barely audible.

“...And you don’t like it when people stare at you,” Twilight murmured. “But that doesn’t worry you here.”

Fluttershy nodded, gaze averted. “I know I’m...safe. And I don’t feel the same way when it’s you looking. N-not anymore, anyway. I don’t mind you looking at me.”

Twilight smiled then, and reached out to touch Fluttershy’s cheek, guiding her gaze up until their eyes met. “I’m glad. Because I like looking at you. I’m happy you feel safe with me. Do you want to continue?” she asked.

Fluttershy bit her lip, and Twilight had to fight back a blush at how unutterably adorable it was. The pegasus nodded slowly, her wings spreading once more as she leaned in, as she had before. Her nervousness seemed to fall away as their lips met once more, and this time Twilight’s parted first, her tongue sliding over her friend's.

Twilight wasn’t even aware she was leaning back until Fluttershy was on top of her. And she found she didn’t mind at all. The weight pressing down on her was exciting, the warmth she felt from their kiss pooling low inside as their bodies pressed together. Her eyes were half-closed as their tongues wrestled, and she found her hands wandering. Fingertips explored the little line of Fluttershy’s stomach that she’d seen before, circling around her sides to caress her lower back slowly as they kissed, slowly and lingering.

When they finally broke and pulled apart, she found herself staring up at Fluttershy. Her wings were half-spread, a canopy of yellow feathers that framed the pink halo of her hair. One of her hands was helping to keep herself propped up a little, while the other...had gone wandering further north than Twilight's own.

It was cupping one of her breasts with a gentle pressure. Fluttershy’s gaze darted down to it and she started to move her hand, looking mortified. Twilight grabbed the pegasus's hand before she could start to apologize and gently put it back, smiling up at her. As encouraging as she could be without saying anything.

Fluttershy looked down, wide eyed, and bit her lip. Her hand shifted slightly, a hesitant squeeze that made Twilight let out a long, drawn out sigh. Then her friend's thumb stroked over the pert little nub capping her breast, just under the fabric of her top making the unicorn's eyes flutter closed as she let out a soft noise. She reached up, tangling a hand in her Fluttershy’s hair to urge her down so their lips could meet again, tongues wrestling.

Twilight let her hands slide under her friends top once more, stroking up her back. She found the taut muscles at the base of the pegasus's wings and felt Fluttershy stiffen and twitch as she did, breaking their kiss. Only a breathy whisper from the pegasus kept her hands where they were, exploring the space between, making Fluttershy gasp quietly and shift in such interesting ways. The pegasus gently squeezed Twilight's breast, eliciting a low moan from the unicorn.

Their legs tangled as they kissed again. Twilight felt Fluttershy’s hand slide under her top, flat against her belly, and was so, so glad she’d decided to sleep how she normally did and forgo a bra, so now there was nothing between those fingers and her breast. The warmth pooling so low in her pulsed as the pegasus's lips crushed against hers and all she could smell was lavender. She felt Fluttershy’s leg between her own, and one of hers raised as Fluttershy shifted down, pressing tighter against her. She shifted her hips up, pressing her groin against the pegasus’s thigh, mirroring her movements, and broke the kiss with a loud gasp at the shock of pleasure she felt.

The two stared into one another's eyes, knowing they were on the precipice of moving farther than either had thought when they’d first started “practicing”. Slowly, hesitantly, Fluttershy whispered, “W-we should...stop. And g-get ready for bed.”

Twilight didn’t want to. She wanted to keep going, to keep kissing the yellow pegasus and find how far their hands could wander, how much they could explore. She wanted more. But she nodded, smiling despite herself. “Y-yeah...we should.”

And soon the two were ensconced beneath the covers. Twilight found she rather liked the position they were in--Fluttershy spooning her from behind, one arm curling over her side, fingers curled with Twilight's own. .

“Sleep well, Twilight,” the pegasus murmured, snuggling against the unicorn. Twilight could feel her breath against her hair, ever so gentle.

“Sleep well, Fluttershy.” she responded. After a moment, she gave her hand a squeeze. “We...should do this again. I really liked it…”

She thought she could feel Fluttershy’s smile. She definitely felt the pegasus plant a soft kiss against the back of her head. “We should,” she murmured in response.

“...Fluttershy? I’m really happy you’re...comfortable with me.”

“...So am I, Twilight.”

A comfortable silence fell over the two. And if, when they woke, Twilight found that Fluttershy’s hand had wandered north once more and found something soft to hold in her sleep...she certainly didn’t mind.

Session 10 (Seeing Is Believing)

Fluttershy’s lips tasted like honey again. They sat on Twilight's bed, the afternoon sun falling across the both of them. Rather, Twilight was sitting on her bed--Fluttershy was straddling her lap, arms wrapped loosely around her shoulders as they kissed. Twilight’s caressed her friends back, feeling tension tightening the muscles there, muscles almost quivering in places.

The unicorn leaned back slightly, breaking the kiss and giving the pegasus a concerned look. “Are you okay? You feel pretty tense, Flutters,” she asked as her fingers dug in as best as they could to work out some of the tightness. Fluttershy let out an unhappy little whimper and slumped against Twilight with a sigh.

“No…” she said quietly. She glanced at the door, as if checking that it was, indeed, locked. “I just...I don’t know what to do, Twi. You know what's going on with that photographer, Photo Finish, who came to see Rarity? You saw what happened. She’s been pushing me into modeling, and taking so many pictures…”

Twilight nodded, stroking Fluttershy’s hair for a moment. “And you don’t like being looked at,” she murmured. “And you don’t want to hurt Rarity’s chances with her?”

She felt Fluttershy nod and whimper again. “I can talk to her if you want…” Twilight started to suggest, but the pegasus leaned back and cut her off with a shake of her head.

“No! I can’t, Twilight! I d-don’t like it, but I can deal with it. Besides…” She paused and blushed softly. “The past couple of weeks...I guess I don’t mind...” She trailed off and smiled, her hand gliding down Twilight's arm until she could give her hand a squeeze. “...Can you close your eyes?” she asked quietly.

Twilight chuckled but did so with a smile. She could feel as Fluttershy shifted slightly. Her ears twitched at the sound of cloth sliding against skin, but she didn’t have a chance to question it before the pegasus found her hand again and gave it another squeeze.

“Y-you can open them now.”

For a split second, Twilight wasn’t sure what she was seeing. It took that long for her brain to process that the sounds she’d heard had been her friend removing her shirt and bra, leaving herself topless. A small part of her noted just how far down the flush of pink in her cheeks went. It almost matched the color of the pegasus nipples.

Twilight knew, on some level, that she was staring at her friend's half-naked form. She wanted to quote poetry. To cite sonnets. To write a new definition of beauty for the dictionary.

“...Wow.” she said.

It just made Fluttershy blush a little harder and giggle. “I...the past few weeks, after...um. Well I don’t mind...you seeing me,” she said as she lifted Twilight's hand. “...Or...touching me…” she added with a little squeak in her voice at the end.

Twilight could feel her own heart hammering in her chest abruptly. Her hand only shook a little as she reached up to palm one of Fluttershy’s breasts. It filled her hand and then some, and she couldn’t help but to give a little squeeze, eliciting a breath from the pegasus.

“...Just a second!” Twilight said, breathing hard. It took her a moment to assemble her thoughts into something coherent, but when she did, her fingers began to pluck at the buttons of her own shirt.

“Oh, you don’t have--” Fluttershy began, only to pause as Twilight's horn lit, and her shirt disappeared in a flash of light, reappearing two feet to the left. “...I didn’t know you could do that…”

“Neither did I!” Twilight said with a giggle. She made a mental note to find out where her bra had gone later--it hadn’t reappeared with the shirt. “But I wanted it out of the way. So we could...do this properly. It’s only fair if I get to look...so do you.” She smiled up at her friend, who bit her lip and nodded.

Their hands began to roam once more, accompanied by eyes. Neither made any mention that this had nothing to do with “kissing practice”, too busy exploring the other. Fingertips brushed over soft skin, caressing and squeezing. Twilight paused as she found a little raised ridge, pulling Fluttershy’s breast up a little to see a small scar on the underside of a breast. “What happened here?” she asked curiously.

Fluttershy sighed. “Oh, I was trying to give Mr. Ferret his ear-drops last month when Harry came by. He was in a mood, and may have let out a teeny tiny roar, which frightened Mr. Ferret. Mr. Ferret…” she winced. “Has very sharp teeth and tends to bite when he’s frightened.”

Twilight hissed in sympathy and leaned back, pulling one of her own breasts up. “I dunno if it’s still visible, but…” She pulled Fluttershy’s hand to the base of it. “Feel that?” she asked. The pegasus nodded as her fingertips ran over a thin line. “I was doing an experiment when an erlenmeyer flask discharged its contents. The resulting thaumically-infused current grounded itself through me, which was deeply unpleasant. Doubly so when I remembered I was wearing an underwire bra, which had just been heated pretty thoroughly. Fortunately I only got some mild burns, except for right there, where the wire had worn through and was pressing against my skin,” she explained.

Fluttershy winced and shook her head. “Ow! I can imagine.” She paused and got a mischievous look on her face that Twilight had only seen once or twice before--and only in her friend’s own home. “Want me to...kiss it and make it better?” the pegasus asked, already starting to lean down.

Twilight’s mouth opened, but she couldn’t say anything. Not before she could feel lips pressed against her skin, sending her heart racing. The pegasus shifted up, pressing a second kiss a little higher, just below her nipple. “Fluttershy…” Twilight whispered. She could feel her fingers trembling as they moved up the pegasus’ side. Fluttershy moved up, her lips touching Twilight’s again, though only briefly. The unicorn broke the kiss, breathing harder, and blurted out, “I don’t want to practice anymore!”

Fluttershy jerked back, wide eyed, looking shocked. “W-what?” she whispered, sounding hurt.

Twilight shook her head, grabbing for the pegasus hand quickly. “T-that's not--I, I’m sorry, that came out wrong, I mean--I don’t...I don’t want this to be practice. This is...more than practice,” she babbled. “I-I really like this and I like spending time with you, even when we’re not kissing not that the kissing isn’t amazing because it is it really is you’re so good at it it makes me feel so strange but it doesn’t feel like just practicing and if I’m being honest it hasn’t for awhile, I just, I really like you and I’m so bad at this!”

Twilight finally stopped. Not because she’d run out of things to ramble about--she could have kept that going for another twenty-eight point seven minutes without any issues other than lung capacity. It was, however, hard to keep talking when your lips were busy being pressed against a pretty mare’s.

Fluttershy broke the kiss, pressing her forehead against Twilight's, just under the horn. “You really feel that way?” she whispered.

Twilight smiled despite her blush. “...Yeah. You’re a lot of fun. And really pretty. And I like just...being with you,” she said.

Fluttershy smiled. “I feel the same way,” she said, leaning back. She brought Twilight's hand up, pressing a kiss against the back of it as they looked at one another in the silence. “...Do you want to come over again tomorrow?” she asked, and Twilight could tell, from the tone of her voice, that it wasn’t just another sleepover. Even one as fun as theirs.

Special Session (Something New)

Twilight thought she’d passed a few animals carrying tiny camping supplies on her way to Fluttershy’s cottage. It was a testament to the power of the butterflies wrestling in her stomach that she barely took note of it. The sight of the yellow pegasus answering the door in a thick, fluffy, dark green robe made it even harder to think. A butterfly pin kept her hair out of her face, pinned up to one side.

Fluttershy took Twilight's hand and led her upstairs to the bedroom. She guided her to the bed and took a step back, taking a deep breath as she wrapped her arms around herself. “Twilight? Please...don’t close your eyes,” she said, her cheeks flushed pink as she unwrapped the robe from herself.

Twilight’s gaze went wide as she realized what she was seeing. The robe slid down the pegasus’ form, revealing...everything. Forest green fell away, leaving only delicate yellow. Twilight took in everything she saw, dedicating her powers of observation and attention to detail to capture and memorize every speck of visual information she could as the world slowed to a crawl.

The line of her jaw that led to the gorgeous swell of her lips. Down the contours of her neck, over the swell of her breasts and the pert pink little circles that capped each as they hung full on her chest. Down the valley between them, over the flat plain of her stomach, the dip of her navel. Her eyes traced the outline of Fluttershy’s hips and dipped down, around, to the delicate grace of her legs, the curve of her calf, and the firm thighs that lead up to…

Pink, hiding so shyly behind yellow. A bare glimpse of it at the center of her sex, unlike the proud pearl that reigned atop it, just below a soft thatch of fur.

Twilight looked into Fluttershy’s eyes as time started to move again.

“...I know this is probably too much, too fast, but I wanted you to...t-to see me. All of me,” the pegasus whispered as she took a step closer, reaching out. “I want to...be with you, Twilight.”

Twilight took her hand and gently tugged her friend forward. Their lips caught, and she wrapped her arms around the mare, spending a wonderful eternity in the gentle languidness of their kiss. Her horn lit and when they parted she was as nude as Fluttershy, hearts hammering in tandem.

“I love you,” Twilight whispered. “I want this.” She raised the pegasus’s hand to her lips, but turned it over, brushing them over the inside of her wrist. A line of gentle kisses trailed up from there, each eliciting a soft giggle or a gasp from the pegasus. The unicorn's lips brushed over her collarbone, before finding the hollow of her throat.

“Twilight…” Fluttershy whispered, head tilted back. Twilight curled her arm round the pegasus back, working her fingers into the muscles just under those wings, pulling another soft gasp from the winged mare.

Fluttershy shifted back slightly, her eyes half closed as she pressed a soft kiss to the tip of each of Twilight's fingers in turn, finishing with one that lingered on the palm of her hand. The warmth pooling in Twilight's belly grew hotter and deeper from each kiss, and she found herself biting her lip when those lips touched her wrist.

Fluttershy shifted so she was straddling Twilight as the pair’s lips locked once more. Twilight could feel her own nipples pressing against the soft flesh of Fluttershy’s breasts as their bodies shifted and slid against one another throughout the kiss, a sensation rapidly driving her wild--all the more so when her hard little nubs caught against Fluttershy’s. Her hands slid over her friend's back, down her hips, and she could feel hands roaming over her own body in return. One wrapped around her side while the other slid between them, cupping her breast. Thumb circling her nipple slowly as her tongue tangled with Fluttershy’s. She was dimly aware of those wings flaring out and almost curling around them as they continued.

One of her own hands found it’s way between them. Sliding along the inside of Fluttershy’s thigh. The pegasus broke the kiss with an almost startled sound that transformed into a little mewl of arousal mid-way through as Twilight's unsure fingers slid just a little closer to her sex.

“Please…” the pegasus whispered. Twilight looked into her eyes as she let the palm of her hand rest against her mound, pressure against the pearl atop it. Fluttershy quivered, clutching at Twilight as she shifted her hand gently, trying to figure out the best way to..go about this. A single finger stroked between the yellow pegasus folds, pressing slowly inward, eliciting a hot cry of pleasure. “Please kiss me...” she groaned, biting her lip. It only took a minute for Twilight to understand what she meant.

The two shifted until Twilight was on top, half-standing between Fluttershy’s legs, leaning over her. She could feel that pool of heat so deep within her, could feel her arousal threatening to spill down her legs as she kissed Fluttershy’s chest. Her lips brushed down over her breast, catching not-so-briefly around a nipple as she hefted and squeezed the other. Down she continued, following the same path her eyes had before. A kiss to her navel, a brush of her cheek against the pegasus’ hip.

She knelt between those spread legs. Twilight’s kisses caressed the inside of those yellow thighs. Slow and lingering kisses, first one, and then the other in a steady line before she reached her prize. She hesitated, trying to recall what she’d read about this. There wasn’t any subject she hadn’t studied, and she’d...read ahead a little when preparing for their practice sessions.

Her lips pressed slowly, langorously against Fluttershy’s sex. The scent of lavender she associated with the pegasus was overridden by something else, something more...primal as Twilight's nose brushed against her clit. Fluttershy was trembling at each touch, and when Twilight let her tongue slide out in a long, slow, and deep lick, the pegasus cried out, her legs curling around Twilight's shoulders and urging her on.

The unicorn took her time to explore. Gentle presses of her lips against that pearl, letting her tongue play between those yellow and pink folds. She hooked an arm over Fluttershy’s thigh, fingertips toying with the sensitive skin so near her sex as she pressing her tongue between those folds again in a slow lick when the grip of those legs tightened. Fluttershy’s trembling tripled for a second before her back arched and she stilled, gasping out, “Oh yes, oh yes, Twilight, yes!” as she quivered.

When those legs finally relaxed, the purple unicorn found herself pulled up onto the bed once more, Fluttershy atop her. The pegasus was pressing kisses over her chest, little pecks, one after the other. Twilight shivered slightly as she felt something cup her mound, gasping sharply when Fluttershy’s thumb stroked a little circle around her clit. “Fluttershy, please…” she found herself whispering, almost whimpering as she grasped the back of the pegasus’s head.

Twilight almost lifted them both off the bed when one of those slim and oh so delicately nimble fingers pressed into her. Her hips bucked as the pegasus worked, a second joining the first as the palm of her hand rasped over the unicorn's clit. She slid her free hand down as she pulled the pegasus into a rough kiss, her own fingers delving into the cleft she’d explored with lips and tongue already. She felt so rushed and clumsy, but she needed this, needed to give the same pleasure to her friend, her lover that she was receiving.

She felt the fingers inside of her curl, caressing something within her, and saw white for a moment. “Fluttershy!” she moaned, clutching her tightly as she tried to repeat the motion herself. The two gasped and trembled, legs shifting and hips bucking as they worked. Moans and whimpers and cries echoed in the small room.

Twilight could feel it building, like she was running towards the edge of a cliff. So much more than anything she’d achieved on her own, and when she came to that edge, with no warning, the unicorn spread her arms and dove, knowing she’d be caught. She stiffened, finding herself sinking her teeth into Fluttershy’s shoulder to muffle her cries as she shook under the pegasus, wracked by spasms of pleasure that poured through her. Over and over, tears at the corner of her eyes as she rode through it, feeling the pegasus tense and moan atop her as she did. She couldn’t tell if it lasted for hours, days, or years, but eternity passed in waves of ecstasy until she could bear no more and flopped back limpy onto the bed.

The two lay side by side, panting for breath in the aftermath. Fluttershy’s fingers trailed down Twilights wrist until their fingers twined. Abruptly, the unicorn began to giggle, turning to outright laughter.

Rolling over, Twilight smiled at her lover, running her finger in meaningless patterns on her stomach. “I guess we have something else to practice together now,” she said with an impish little smile.

Fluttershy blinked once before bursting into giggles herself. “Well...you know what they say about practice.”
