It has come. The day has finally come.

I am now going to Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. My name is Twilight Sparkle. I am an ordinary unicorn who is your typical nerd. I love to read books. I'm also kind of... well... an introvert. I'm not one of those friend making ponies. Friends aren't really my thing.

But I do have one friend, and that is my brother.

My brother is my B.B.B.F.F. That means big brother best friend forever. We do everything together. We would do things like fly kites and share snacks. He's the best brother anypony could ever ask for. I just love him so much.

Anyways, I am excited to go to Celestia's school, but also nervous, but my parents tell me I'll be okay and the princess will be there.

I got up out of bed and started getting ready. I brushed my mane and started packing my things. Just then, my brother entered my room. He was in a royal guard suit.

"Hey, little sis," he said to me.

"Big brother!" I exclaimed, overjoyed.

Not only am I going to a new school, but my brother is becoming a royal guard. He always wanted to be one. Of course I was excited for him. How could I not?

"Going to Celestia's school, eh?" my brother said.

"Yeah..." I said nervously.

My brother sensed my nervousness and sat on the ground. I sat with him.

"Listen, sis. I know you're nervous, but remember what mom and dad said. You're going to do fine," he told me. "You're my sister. You read lots of books for crying out loud.

I let out a giggle when he said that. He really knows his little sister.

"Okay, Shining Armor."

That's my brother's name. His name is Shining Armor.

"Are you ready? If you are, come downstairs and have breakfast," Shining Armor said.

"I'm ready," I said.

"Okay. Lets go."

When me and my brother entered the kitchen, our parents were sitting at the table. Their names are Twilight Velvet and Night Light.

"Good morning, you two!" our mother said.

"Morning, mom," my brother said.

"Morning," I said.

We headed to the table and sat down. There were pancakes on it. Pancakes were my favorite thing to have for breakfast. My mom is a good cook. She also puts fruit on them.

The table was silent for moment until my dad broke the silence.

"So, Twilight, excited for your first day at your new school?" he asked me.

I gulped before speaking.

"Nervous..." I admitted.

"Don't worry, you'll be-"

Suddenly, my dad was cut off by my brother.

"Don't worry. I told her already dad," he said.

My dad nodded and then asked him the same question he asked me.

"And you son. Are you excited for your new job as a royal guard?"

"Pretty excited actually," my brother replied.

"That's good. Now, you should get going. You don't want to be late."

Late? Of course I don't want to be late! Not on the first day!

"Alright, dad," my brother said. "Ready Twiley?"

That's the nickname he gave me. I really don't mind if he calls me that. I actually like it.

"Ready," I said.

"Okay. Lets go."
...
After a few minutes of walking, we arrived at my new school. I was in awe at the sight of it. I couldn't believe it. I was finally here. It was not just any normal school, but Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. I was looking at it in person. I just had no words. It was amazing.

And I was about to go inside.

I was about to go inside on my own. My brother was about to leave me.

"Have a good day, sis," my brother said, giving me a hug.

"Bye, Shining," I said.

We broke apart from the hug and then he left. I took a deep breath. I was about to face the fact that I'm actually going to be in the school.

You can do this, Twilight... you can do this...

I went inside. When I was in, I looked around. It looked so interesting from the inside. This was a dream come true. Sure, I was nervous about my first day, but I was wanted to go to this school.

And it was a dream come true for me.

But I sure was going to need a little help around the place. I just didn't know who to ask. The hall was empty. I realized I was late.

"Ugh..." I said, frustrated. I really didn't like being late.

Just then when I was about to go have a walk around, I heard a sudden voice. It was a sweet and gentle one.

"Twilight?"

I turned around quickly. I gasped. It was the ruler of Equestria herself, Princess Celestia. I stared at her in amazement. What was even more amazing that I'm going to be her personal pupil. That was just an honor.

She was also going to teach me some spells.

She had a snow white coat, a mane with a combination of different colors, and magenta eyes.

Here I was, seeing her again.

"What are you doing out here alone?" she asked me gently.

"Well... I just got here and I don't know where to go for my first class..." I replied in a quiet voice.

"Oh! Sorry, I forgot. Here are your papers," she said, handing them over to me with her magic. "You can place these in your bag.

Great, papers! Thank goodness. These will sure help. Now I could find my class. If it weren't for the princess giving me these, I wouldn't know what to do.

"Thank you so much, princess!" I said, hugging her.

I then heard a soft giggle from her.

"You're welcome, Twilight," she said. "Now, head off to your first class."

"Okay. Bye princess!" I gave her one more hug and headed off to class.

...

Well, the first day of school was interesting. The classes were interesting. I know I'm an introverted pony, but I did make a few friends. Their names are Twinkle Shine, Minuette, Lemon Hearts, and Moon Dancer.

But I am still going to be studying most of the time.

Anyway, not only the first day was interesting, but I get to stay in my mentor's castle! Isn't that great? I get my own room! I have somewhere peace and quiet to study.

I obviously couldn't decline that offer! I just couldn't!

I was laying in my bed. It was comfy. I got up for a moment so I could grab a book out of my bag that I brought from home. I then got back up on my bed and started reading.

...

I love you daddy... I love you mommy...

I shot right awake. I must've fallen asleep while reading. While I was asleep, I was dreaming about my parents. Tears started to form in my eyes.

I was homesick.

I started crying. I missed them so much. I wasn't at home anymore. I was now at the castle of the princess. I wasn't tucked up in my bed at home.

Just then, a heard a voice.

"Twilight?"

It was that sweet, calm, and gentle voice. I could tell it was Princess Celestia's.

"Are you alright?" she asked from outside my door.

"Y-Yeah! I'm fine!" I lied, sniffling.

She didn't believe me. She could tell I was lying.

"Twilight... if there's something bothering you, please let me come in... you can tell me anything, I promise," she said.

When she said that, I opened my door, letting her come in. When she entered, she had a concerned look on her face. I knew she could see the tears on my cheeks.

"Twilight, dear. What's the matter?" she asked again in a caring voice.

I couldn't seem to find the words to help me explain.

"I..."

The princess went over to my bed and sat up there with me. She then placed a wing over me.

"Like I said, you can tell me anything," she told me again.

I finally found the words for me to explain.

"Princess... I'm... homesick..." I confessed, looking down at the ground. I felt ashamed. I was happy that I got to stay in the castle, and now I'm homesick?

I just felt awful.

"I-I'm sorry... I-I know I accepted the offer to stay in your castle a-and I'm homesick... I-I-I'm so sorry I-"

Suddenly, I was interrupted by my teacher. She put her hoof over my mouth, silencing me. She then spoke.

"Shh... Twilight, it's okay. It's completely normal to feel homesick. You're far from home." she said. "Do you want to go home?"

I looked out the window for a moment. I decided I didn't want to go home. I wanted to stay here with her. She's so sweet. She's like a second mother to me.

"No, princess. I would rather stay here with you," I replied, smiling.

This made her smile too.

"Alright, Twilight. Well, goodnight," she said, exiting my room.

"Goodnight, princess," I said, closing my eyes, going to sleep.

...

"Twilight."

I woke up, hearing the sweet voice of the princess once again. It was a new morning. The sun was shining and it was time for a new day. It was time for another day of school.

I turned in my bed, opening my eyes, facing the princess.

"Good morning, princess," I said, yawning.

"Good morning, Twilight. Do you want to have breakfast with me?" she asked sweetly.

Wait... breakfast with the princess?! No way! I get to eat with the princess! The ruler of equestria! The pony who raises the sun! Well, she is my mentor after all.

"Yes!" I replied excitedly, getting out of bed as fast as I could.

Due to my excitement, I made her giggle once more. I wonder if I make her happy.

"Alright. Get ready and meet me in the kitchen," she told me.

"Okay!"

...
When I entered the kitchen, I saw her sitting at the table, waiting for me. I smiled once more. It was such a nice offer to have breakfast with her.

I went over and took a seat next to her. I looked at the food on the plate. It looked so good.

"Looks good, doesn't it?" the princess asked.

"Yeah, it does!" I replied.

"That's good. Now, eat up. We're going to practice some spells," she said.

My expression quickly changed to a shocked one. Spells? As of right now? We're going to do spells right now? It's so early in the morning.

"Spells? But it's so early in the morning!" I said shocked.

"I know, but I just thought we could practice some since class doesn't start until a few hours," she said. "What? Do you have a problem with it?"

"No, of course not!" I replied.

"Alright. Now, lets eat."

...

After a few hours had passed, I finished practicing some spells with Princess Celestia and school had ended for the day. I guess the second day was interesting. I have a feeling it may get more and more interesting as more days go by though.

I was laying in my bed, reading another book. I wasn't really sleepy just yet. I wanted to read until I got tired and fell asleep.

Suddenly, I was snapped out of my reading, hearing a voice.

It sounded like singing. It was so beautiful. I could even hear the words they were saying.

Lullay Moon Princess goodnight sister mine...

Rest well in the moonlight's embrace...

Bear up my lullaby winds of the Earth...

Through cloud, and through sky, and through space...

Carry the peace and the coolness of night...

And carry my sorrow in kind...

I wondered to myself, who was singing this melody?

Who's that singing? Who's singing something so beautiful? Who's singing in such a beautiful voice?

I wanted to go out there and find out who it was, but I didn't want to get in trouble by the guards. I also didn't want to invade, the singer's privacy if they wanted some.

I really didn't want to be rude and inturrupt, so I just went back to reading.

...

The next morning, I woke up earlier than usual. Princess Celestia didn't have to come and wake me up. There was a reason why though. I wanted to talk to her about the voice I heard last night and how beautiful it was.

I just couldn't stop thinking about it.

I got out of my bed and started getting ready. When I was ready, I exited my room and started heading to the kitchen.

...

When I entered the kitchen, I didn't see my teacher, sitting there waiting for me as usual. She wasn't there. She probably just got done raising the Sun. I decided to head over to the table, sit down, and wait for her until she comes.

When I looked down at the table, I didn't see no food either.

Perhaps I had gotten up too early... heh.

The wait wasn't long for the princess to arrive. It was actually pretty short. When she arrived, she looked shocked when I was at the table. I did get up really early after all.

"Good morning," I said, grinning.

"Twilight! What a surprise! I was about to come wake you up!" she said shocked.

"Well... um... there's a reason why I got up so early..."

"Oh? What is it?" she asked.

"Well... um... I heard something last night..." I began.

"What was it?"

"Well... it sounded like... singing..."

After those words came out, the princess's face quickly changed to a shocked one. I was confused. Why did she look so shocked?

"Princess? Are you okay?" I asked, concerned.

She didn't say anything. She quickly turned away from me.

What's up with her? Why did she turn away from me?

I thought for a moment. After a few moments, I came up with a realization.

That was her singing.

"Was that... you?!" I asked shocked.

She turned back to me. She looked embarrassed. She must've not wanted anypony hearing her sing. She didn't even want me hearing her sing.

"Y-Yes..."

I could hear the nervousness in her voice. I couldn't understand. Why was she embarrassed? Her voice is so beautiful. I decided to talk to her about it.

"Princess... you don't have to be embarrassed... your voice... it's so beautiful... you should sing more often..." I told her.

I hoped that would make her feel better. Suddenly, it looked like it did. She started to blush. Her cheeks were light pink. Yup. She was totally feeling better now.

"T-Thank you, Twilight..." she said. She sounded speechless.

After she said that, I decided to ask her if she could sing me a lullaby tonight. Her voice is so beautiful that I want her to sing me to sleep.

"Princess?"

"Yes, Twilight?"

"Can you maybe... sing me a lullaby tonight?"

She fell back speechless once again, also falling silent. After a moment she replied.

"Of course, Twilight.

I smiled, hugging the princess. She smiled once again, wrapping me in her wings. She was still blushing.

She was going to sing to be tonight.

...

Another day of school has ended. I was laying cozy in my bed. The princess entered my room. She went over to my bed and sat down. She was ready to sing me a lullaby.

"Alright. What do you want me to sing you?" she asked.

"Can you sing You Are My Sunshine?" I asked.

"Of course," she replied, smiling. She then cleared her throat and started to sing.

You are my sunshine...

My only sunshine...

You make me happy...

When skies are gray...

You'll never know dear...

How much I love you...

Please don't take my sunshine away...

There it was. That sweet voice now in my bedroom. I could feel my eyes growing heavy. I was getting sleepy. I was ready to pass out into dreamland.

"Thank you, princess... that was beautiful..." I said sleepily.

"You're welcome, Twilight. Goodnight." she said, exiting my room.

I was about to head my way into dreamland by a wonderful voice. The voice of the Sun. the Sun's voice.
