Big Macintosh travles to Pandora to become a Vault Hunter.
Big Macintosh had lost it all, first his parents died, then granny Smith, then Apple Bloom decided to leave Ponyville to do her own thing. Then the worst thing happened, he lost his family farm to the bank. Not knowing what to do and his friends won't help him, he does the one thing no pony would expect him to do. He travels to Pandora to become a Vault Hunter.
Hello everyone, this is my first crossover with Borderlands and I want to explain something before you all read the story, this version on Mac is a little different then we are all use with. He is the element of honesty, AJ doesn't exist in this univers, and that's all. I hope that you all will give the story a chance. ENJOY
“Great, another vault hunter, handsome Jack has been busy.” Said a metallic voice.
‘Handsome Jack? That guy that wanted me dead?’ The Vault Hunter then felt the cold wind. ‘Am I lying in the snow?’
Claptrap was busy digging through the remains of the train that had exploded thanks to a man called Handsome Jack, while digging he could hear a loud groan. Claptrap looked in the direction of the groan and boy was he happy.
“Wait a minute, you’re not dead! YES! Now I can get off this glacier! Claptrap, your metaphorical ship has finally come in!”
‘What an annoying robot.’ The vault hunter thought. ‘How come I am not dead?’ The vault hunter asked himself. The vault hunter in question wasn’t a human, he was a pony. He had red fur with blond hair and tail, he was wearing blue pants, a with t-shirt and a brown coat that reached just down of his ass. The pony managed to sit up. “My head.” He rubbed his head and notice that something was missing, he looked up. “My hat, where’s my hat?” He started to look around after it.
“Your hat? I didn’t see any hat.” Said Claptrap.
The pony then stood up, he was way higher the Claptrap, he then grabbed the robot and lifted it up to his face. “Listen to me you trash can, my father gave me a hat on my tenth birthday, if you don’t want me to rib out your circuits, you are going to help me look for it. Got it?” The pony said in a threatening tone.
Claptrap saluted. “Sir, yes sir.” The pony nodded and dropped the robot down with a thump. It didn’t take long before Claptrap managed to find the hat, it was lying not far from them, it was a brown Stetson hat. The hunter placed the hat on his head. “Now that we have found your hat, let me introduce myself. I am a CL4P-TP steward bot, but my friends calls me Claptrap! Or they would, if any of them were still alive. Or had existed in the first place! Oh, I’ve got something for you!” The pony just stared at the robot knows as Claptrap, just wondering what was wrong with it. Claptrap then picked up something from the snow. “Here! Take this ECHO communicator that I TOTALLY didn’t loot from one of these corpses. It comes with a class-12 heads up display complete with a mini map! Now, come friend. Let’s get you inside.”
The pony wasn’t sure if he should take the ECHO device, he did eventually. He didn’t have one himself. “Thanks.” The hunter place the ECHO device in his hips and immediately he could see a map and how much life he had left? He just shrugged it off. He then place the earpiece in his ear.
The Claptrap started move and the hunter followed him. “Man, this is GREAT! Now that I’ve met a mighty Vault Hunter, I can finally join the resistance in Sanctuary, take vengeance against Jack for killing my product line, and repair my central processor so I stop thinking out loud! I wonder what it’s like to have a belly button.”
The hunter couldn’t help but question what the robot just said. ‘He wants to have a belly button, what’s wrong with this robot?’ As the hunter walked, he could fell the could. ‘Dame it’s cold, I must have landed in the cold part of Pandora, fucking Jack.’ The Vault hunter didn’t exactly want to follow the robot but at this point, he didn’t have any other option and besides, it looked like Claptrap knew where he was going.
As he was walking, a female human appeared in front of his face. “I’ll explain everything soon, but know this, you are alive for a reason, and I am here to help you.” Then she disappeared. “What was that?” He asked no one in particular.
“Did you say something?”
The pony saw that Claptrap was staring at him. “I just saw a woman she was right in front of me.”
“I didn’t see anything, maybe you are delusional thanks to the cold. I wouldn’t know considering I can’t feel the cold.”
The robot had a point, he was freezing. Claptrap started to move again, the pony wrapped his arms around himself to try and get some war, he followed the robot.
It didn’t take them long before they arrived at something that looked like a house. The hunter could see a sign that said, ‘I see you’ and ‘welcome.’
“Well done! Your ability to walk short distances without dying will be Handsome Jack downfall!” Claptrap said while waiting near the sign.
“That’s good and all but can we talk inside? I am freezing.” The hunter said while walking towards the robot.
“Sure, just let me get the door. Oh, I never got your name.”
The hunter couldn't help but frown. ‘He could at least wait until we are inside to ask me that.’ The hunter decided to answer Claptrap. “It’s Big Macintosh, just call me Mac.”
Claptrap but a hand under his ‘chin.’ “Nah, I am going to call you minion.” Said Claptrap as he rolled towards the door.
Mac just stood there. “Wait, that’s not my name.” But Claptrap wasn’t listing at all.
When Claptrap reached the door. “Aaaaaand open!” then a blue beam scanned him. “Just a little added security. Gotta keep those Bullymongs at bay or they’ll rip your eyes out!”
Mac swallowed a lump he had in his throat when he heard that. “That doesn’t sound very pleasant.”
The door opened the they both went in. Once inside, Mac could see many other different CL4P-TP robots, just laying around. Once they got to the living room, it looked like one. Mac saw one thing he was glad to see, fire. Somehow Claptrap had managed to make fire and it was good.
Claptrap rolled over to the fireplace and started to poke it, he then turned around and faced Mac. “Sorry about the mess! Everything Jack’s kills, he dumps here, bandits, Vault hunter, CL4P-TP units… if I sound pleased about this, it’s only because my programmers made this my default tone of voice! I am actually quite depressed!”
Mac looked around the room, he could see what Claptrap was talking about. “I can see why you are depressed. You mentioned Bullymong, what’s that?” He asked Claptrap.
“They are the creatures that lives around here, and they are very dangerous, especially this Bullymong named Knuckle Dragger, he kills everyone I know! Anyhow, I keep a pistole in the cabinet over there for emergencies, but in HERE, we should be pretty safe!”
Somehow, Mac didn’t believe a word he was saying, it was a freaking hole in the celling for fuck sake. And mac was right. Then he heard a roar and he saw Claptrap trying to protect himself by hiding? Then Mac saw a giant four arm beast coming from the hole in the celling, the beast jump down and grabbed Claptrap, jump up the furnace and managed to rip Claptrap’s eyes out. It then disappeared.
Mac saw the whole thing and he wanted to help the robot, but he was frozen by fear, he didn’t think it would beast on Pandora that was twice his size. He was pretty big for an earth pony, but the beast was just so much bigger than himself. He then watch as Claptrap fell on the floor thanks to the lack of an eye. “The gun! The gun in the cabinet!” Claptrap said in a ‘weak’ tone. Somehow, Mac knew that the robot was faking it all.
That didn’t matter now, Mac looked to his right and saw the cabinet that Claptrap was talking about. He ran towards it and opened it, inside was a handgun. Mac picked it up and cocked it a few times to make sure that the gun was working, it was superlight working good, Claptrap must have maintained it. Mac aimed the gun towards the wall to get a feel of it, this was not the first time he had just a gun. On the train, he and the rest of the vault hunters had been ambushed by some Hyberion robots and soldiers, they managed to kill them fast but unfortunately, Mac lost his guns when the train explode, that included his favourite shotgun.
As soon as he got the gun, the woman appeared in front of him again. “Once upon a time, four Vault Hunters changed Pandora forever. But their time has passed, thanks to Handsome Jack, Pandora needs a new hero. I know that hero is you.” She told him.
“Who are you?” Mac asked the mysterious woman, but she didn’t answer him.
Mac then heard someone crashing into something behind him, it was Claptrap running into a wall. “Apart from the excruciating pain, this is Great! I’ve been waiting for a mighty Vault Hunter to reach Sanctuary! I will be your wise leader and YOU shall be my fearsome minion! Ahahah”
Mac wasn’t listing to the crazy robot, eh busy finding ammo and think about what the woman said. She called him a hero Mac wasn’t a hero, sure he had saved Equestria a few times but he never considering himself a hero, that was Dusk Shine’s job, not his.
When Mac was finished gathering ammo and some help packs, he saw that Claptrap ha somehow managed to open a door, which was weird considering he was blind.
Then they were in another room with some more ammo, which he didn’t need. Mac decided to take some money that Claptrap had lying around, something told him that the robot didn’t need it.
“Great! Just let me get this door open and we’ll hunt ourselves a Bullymong.” Claptrap managed to roll over to a control panel, he the opened the door which surprised Mac. “Onward, seeing-eye minion! Let me know if I’m gonna run into anything.” Claptrap told Mac while he exit his own house.
Big Mac took a deep breath. “Time to hunt a Bullymong.” He then walked after Claptrap.
Mac and his ‘companied’ had just left Claptrap’s house and where hunting a Bullymong named Knuckle Dragger, who had stolen the robot’s eye.
“Even though Knuckle Dragger blindsided me, I know my way around this glacier. I bet ya we’ll find me eye in in Frostbite Crevasse.” Said Claptrap as he rolled around in the blind.
As they walked, Mac watch as Claptrap crashed into the clump, he could say to the robot that he was about to crash into something, but it was too much fun just let it happen.
Then the woman appeared in front Mac again. “Stick close to the robot, he will help you off this glacier, and into the city of Sanctuary. That is the only place you will be safe.” She then disappeared again.
Mac tried to ask her again. “Just who are you lady?” She still didn't answer him.
“Did you say something minion?” Claptrap asked him.
Mac shook his head. “It was nothing, let’s just find this Knuckle Dragger already.”
One the way they past something that looked like a container but it walls was gone Mac looked inside the container and saw that a yellow sniper rifle lining there, he picked it up and studied a few times, it was in fine shape. Mac place the rifle on his back.
Then they arrived at a dead end. “What now?” Mac asked Claptrap.
Claptrap never got the chance to answer, they both heard Bullymong coming towards them. “Ahhh! I hear Bullymongs! Sic’em minion.” Said Claptrap while waving his arms. “PROTECT ME, SQUIRE!”
Mac took out his pistol. ‘I really wish he would stop calling me minion.’ Mac saw three Bullymong, that was a little smaller then Knuckle Dragger. All of them was on top of the glacier, he aimed the gun and fired a few rounds and managed to hit one of them. The reaming two jump down and charge Mac, he fired the gun again and manged to hit the second, Mac was about to fires again but was out of bullets. The third one charge him, Mac had to roll away from the attack. He managed to chance the magazine to the gun, he fire again and fell the last Bullymong.
Mac tried to catch his breath, but he never got the chance, as soon as he had killed the three Bullymong’s, two new once destroyed an ice wall came towards him. Mac sat up and fired some few shouts towards them and he hit the straight in the face, they went down very quickly. When they weren’t moving, Mac could finally catch his breath. This wasn’t the first time he had killed, he did it on the train and something told him that it wasn’t going to be the last time.
“Let’s go! If we don’t get my eye back, we’ll NEVER get to Sanctuary.” Said Claptrap while rolling towards a small cliff, He fell down.
Mac didn’t care anymore, he just got up and followed Claptrap through the hole in the ice wall. They keep walking through the ice landscape.
As the walk, Mac could fell the ground shaking. “Ughhh, AGAIN?! Jack’s tearing Pandora apart to find the Vault. They say Jack’s drilling operations are causing those earthquakes.” Mac didn’t want to know what Jack was using to make a hole planet to tremble. “That, or mom just got outta bed. ZING!” Claptrap was going to pay for what he said about Mac’s mother.
Then the woman appeared, again. “You’ll need that funny little robot’s help to reach Sanctuary, the last bastion of the resistance against Jack, and the only place you will be truly safe. Get to Sanctuary.” Then she disappeared, again. At his pointed, Mac didn’t bother to listen. When he got the chance, he would have a chat with this woman.
Eventually they arrived at Frostbite Crevasse and something that looked like a giant ship frozen in the ice. Claptrap, who can’t see, fell down the cliff in front of them and got stuck in the snow. Mac jumped down and landed not far from the robot, he saw Claptrap struggling to get up, Mac wanted to help but he found it funny.
He was about to help the robot when Bullymong’s came out form holes in the ice wall. Mac took out his gun and started to fire towards them.
“Hey! What’s that noise? Are you fighting?” Claptrap asked Mac
“Yes, I am fighting and if you don’t want to die, you’ll shut the hell up.” Mac answered the robot.
Mac managed to kill the four off then, but then a bigger one charge him and that was a little tougher then the small once. It took more bullets to kill it but eventually he killed it.
“Great, now get me outta here before more Bullymongs arrive.” Mac wasn’t about to argue with what Claptrap said, he has seen enough of those things. Mac grabbed and yanked him out of the snow. “Many thanks, friend of friends. Onward!”
Mac was about to follow Claptrap, when he saw Jack pop up. “Hey, kiddo. Jack here. President of Hyperion? Let me explain how things work here. Vault Hunter shows up. Vault Hunter looks for the new vault. Vault Hunter gets killed. By me. Y’see, you seein’ the problem here? You’re still alive. So, if you could just do me a favor and off yourself, that would be great. Thanks, pumpkin.” Then Jack was gone.
“When I get my hands on your neck, we will see who dies.” Mac said with anger in his voice.
The first time Mac saw Jack was on the train, when he and the other Vault Hunter had managed to defeat the Hyperion’s robot and henchmen, they were meet by a Jack doll that had dynamite strap on it and before they could do anything, it explode. Mac then woke up in the snow, not knowing what had happened to the others Hunter.
After that memory, Mac saw Claptrap roll up a container. “And open.” Mac followed the robot through the container, they arrived at the open place. “Oh! My eye just switched back on! I see a tough looking minion, and an incredibly handsome robot, which means that whoever has my eye…” Then Claptrap decided to hide himself in his own body?
Then they both heard a roar and Mac could see the same Bullymong that took Claptrap eyes.
Knuckle Dragger; This is gonna hurt.
Knuckle Dragger then threw a car towards Mac, the pony Hunter had to jump of out of the way so wasn’t crushed by the car. “That’s it, I am sick of this.” Mac took out the gun and started to fire shots towards the giant Bullymong, he managed to get some hits, but it looked like it didn’t do much damaged. Then Knuckle Dragger charge Mac and he had no time to doge, Mac flew into the ice wall, back first.
Mac felt the impact and it hurt, he fell to the ground, face first. Mac looked up at Knuckle and he was pissed off. “Alright, now I am angry.” Mac got up and ran towards Knuckle, he then jump up into the air and hit the giant Bullymong right in the face. Knuckle Dragger staggered backwards, he felt that. Knuckle was about to charge again, but then he saw a gun barrel right in his face. “Nothing personal.” Mac fired of four shots right in the face of his opponent, Knuckle went down and died.
“Woohoo! If you would, retrieve me eye for me. Oh, and I apologize for saying ‘wall sphincters’. I say that a lot when I’m frighten.” Mac didn’t hear him say that, Mac picked up the eyes from Knuckle Dragger hand and put the eye in one of his pockets.
“Got my eye? Great! Now we just gotta find someone to put it back into me. Much as I’m sure YOU’D like to jam your fist into my skull, optic surgery is best left to professionals. My pal Hammerlock in Liar’s Berg can fix me up! Allons-y!” Mac was not keen to help Claptrap so he was glad that someone ells could do it.
They both then climb the hill to get to the crashed ship on top of the ice. “Liar’s Berg’s on the other side of this Hyperion barge. What say we cut through it, chum?” Claptrap then rolled over to the barge to try and get it opened. “Ha! This door’s Hyperion tech, child’s play” Aaaaaand open!” Then Claptrap was scanned.
“Intruders detected. Locking door.” Said a female voice, then the door was lock.
“Nice work you idiot.” Said Mac while slapping a hand on his face.
Claptrap just ‘looked’ at the door. “Well, it was nice knowing ya. I hear getting eaten by alive by Bullymongs isen’t such a bad way to go!” Mac couldn’t help but think how pathetic this robot was.
Then the woman appeared again. “Let me get that for ya. Executing phase shift.” Mac heard some weird noises and then the door opened. “You’re welcome! Perks of being an artificial intelligence. I’m networked into almost everything on this planet.” Mac walked in as saw some boxes, which assumed contained ammo and money. “It’s a long way to Sanctuary, please take whatever you need for the journey ahead.” And she disappeared.
Up from the floor came a giant box, Mac walked over to it and pushed a button that was glowing, then the box opened and revealing a shout gun. Mac couldn’t help but smile when saw the shout gun, he had lost his when the train explode, and he was glad he finally found a replacement. He lifted it up so he could feel how it felt in his hands, it felt perfect. He aimed the shout gun towards the wall, and it felt good.
“Let me know when you are ready to meet with Sir Hammerlock, minion.” Mac was going to have a talk with Claptrap when his eye was working again.
Mac place the shout gun on his back with the sniper rifle. “All, right. Let’s go and find this Sir Hammerlock.” Claptrap rolled over to a control panel and managed to open the door. With that done, they continue forward.
When they arrived at the Southern Shelf, the first thing Mac saw was more ice. He was getting tired of all this ice.
“Vamanos, minion! Arriba, arriba.” Mac’s eyes started to twitch thanks to that Claptrap still called him minion. “Keep your wits about, minion, this glacier’s run by a bandit named Captain Flynt. The jerk kept me as his torture plaything for a few months. We played games, like ‘dodge the blowtorch’ and ‘don’t get dunked into the pool of acid’! I was really good at the first one.” Somehow, Mac didn’t feel bad for Claptrap, he didn’t know why.
Before he go to walk, Jack showed up on his ECHO. “Attention, people of Pandora! Handsome Jack here, offering a million bucks to whomever brings me the head of the Vault Hunter who just arrived in Liar’s Berg. Oh, and I’m still offering a reward for Roland, the mass murdering leader of the Crimson Raiders. Good hunting.”
Mac let out a heavy sigh. “Great, my first day on Pandora and I am wanted criminal. That’s just great.” He said while walking after Claptrap.
They continued forward until Mac could see a small town not far from where they had arrived, Mac decoded to take out his sniper rifle to have a look. The first thing he saw was men with guns. ‘I guess those are bandits, I have to take them out before I can move on.’ He put away the rifle and jump off the ledge while Claptrap fell down.
Once down, he saw serval Bullymongs not far from the entrance. He took out his shotgun and made short prosses of them. After that was dealt with, a human with a helmet with horns on appeared. “A MILLION BUCKS?! Alright, boys, this is captain Flynt! I want you to find that Vault Hunter and bring him to me, NOWWW!” Mac couldn’t help but think how charming this Flynt was.
Then they arrived in Liar’s Berg, but it was closed thanks to a metal gate. Claptrap rolled into it, he then went over to control panel and started to press some of the buttons.
“Hey, Hammerlock!” Said the robot.
Then an elderly man appear in Mac’s ECHO. He was wearing a hat he also had a moustache. “Spectacular, first Captain Flynt’s bandits attack, then Claptrap shows up! I must have been horrifyingly cruel to puppies in a previous life to deserve this kind of treatment. I say, Vault Hunters, could you kill Flynt’s men for me?”
Mac sighed. “Fine, just opened the gate and I will take care of them.”
That made Hammerlock very happy. “Excellent, just give me minute and I will opened the gate." The gate opened and Mac took out his sniper rifle, he could see at least five bandits inside.
He took aim at one that was just sitting one ice block, killing him alerted the others and they started to fire at Mac, he had to find some cover. Lucky for him, some ice block was lying in the snow that work perfectly. He dived behind them, reloaded the rifle, he then took a look over the cover and saw that one of the bandits was also reloading his gun and he wasn’t in cover. Mac aimed the rifle at the bandits head, fired, bandits head explode.
“Well, that was gruesome.” He then had to duck for cover when another bandit fired upon him, as soon as bandit was done, Mac ready another shout and he hit his mark.
Then Captain Flynt appeared at the ECHO. “Got a proposition for ya, Vault Hunter. You give up, we’ll just shoot ya in the head! It’ll be quick, clean, and a hell of a lot less painful than what Handsome Jack’ll do to ya.” Mac just ignored that.
He then took cover again. “Hey Vault Hunter, you heard Captain Flynt so just give up already.” Said one of the bandits.
“No thanks.” Mac reloader his rifle. “I prefer to live.” He took aim again and managed to get one more. Then he heard a familiar roar, three Bullymongs was coming down the cliff and bandits was now focus on them and not Mac.
Mac just watch as the three Bullymongs killed the remaining bandit to shreds, then they turned their attention towards Mac. “Of fuck.” He got up and took out his pistol and killed the two of them, he then had to take out his shotgun to kill the last one. Once they were dead, Mac had to catch his breath. “Man, I can’t remember the last time I was this tired.” He sat down to relax a little.
The Flynt was on again. “Dammit! This ain’t over, grinder!”
“Hey, Hammerlock! Since my minion just saved your town, you wanna do your bestie Claptrap a favour and repair my eye?” Mac couldn’t help but groan, he just wanted to catch his breath.
Hammerlock sighed. “Yes, I suppose I am in your debt now, aren’t I? Come to my shack, and I shall restore Claptrap’s sigh. First, I shall shut off the electrical fence for you.” Mac got up and started to walk through town and towards a fence that was electricity and Claptrap was rolling straight towards it. “Please stay back, Vault Hunter, let Claptrap go first.”
“I knew Hammerlock would come around eventually. Me and him are like two peas in a pod! Two cannibal midgets in a fat guy’s ribcage!” Then Claptrap hit the fence and he went down.
Now, Mac could have warned him that the fence was electrified, but he knew that if Claptrap hit the electrical fence, he would shut down. He just wanted some silence from the robot.
“Apologies, but when Claptrap speaks, I feel my brain cells committing suicide, one by one. I shall be out directly.” Mac knew actually what Hammerlock was talking about.
Then a door open to the house that the electrical fence was protecting and out came a man that almost looked like Daring Do. Expect that he was human, a man and that his right arm and leg was mechanic.
He then saluted. “A pleasure to meet you, Vault Hunter. I am Sir Hammerlock.” Sir Hammerlock. Hunter, Scholar, Gentleman. “At you service.”
Hammerlock then ran towards the fence. “I came out here to research the Bullymongs for my almanac, but Captain Flynt’s men trapped me on this glacier. Many thanks for disposing of them, by the way. To survive a direct run in with Handsome Jack AND defeat captain Flynt’s bandits? Unheard of! I’m headed to Sanctuary myself, from what I hear, the Crimson Raiders there could use a hero like you.”
“Don’t mention it, it was either that or die.” Mac then watch as Hammerlock open the gate and walked towards Claptrap. “You are well not going to turn me in to collect the bounty on me?” He asked Hammerlock.
The elderly man gave Mac an assuring smile. “Don’t worry, I am not going to deliver you to Jack. As most people on Pandora, I hate Jack. I might say, I haven’t seen your kind before.”
Mac leaned against the stone fence. “I am a pony from the planet Eguis.”
“Never heard about it.”
“That does not surprise me, it took me ten days to get to Pandora.”
“Alright, my I get your name.”
“It’s Big Macintosh, just call me Mac, it’s easier.”
Hammerlock nodded. “I see. Now, if you could hand me the robot’s eyes, please.” Mac reached into his pocket and took out Claptraps eye, he then threw it to Hammerlock who managed to catch it with his robot arm. He then bent down near Claptrap, who was still twitching on the ground. “Now, I need only connect this to this, and…” He then plunged the eye into the robot. He then hit a few times.
“Are you sure that you know what you are doing?” Mac asked Hammerlock.
“That should do it!”
Mac got his answer, Claptrap jump up. “Ha-ha! I AM ALIIIIIVE!”
Hammerlock place a hand on his face. “Oh, dear. He’s talking again.”
Claptrap then looked at Mac. “Minion! Now I’ve got my eyesight back and you’re far uglier then I remembered! Time to join up with the Crimson Raiders in Sanctuary!”
“That’s it.” Mac pushed himself of the wall and drew his gun and pointed it at Claptrap, who immediately put both hands up in the air. “Two thing are going to happened now. First, you are going to stop calling me minion, I am not your slave and I will not be treated like one. Do I make myself clear?” He asked the robot.
“Sir, yes sir.” Claptrap answered while shaking.
“Second, you are going to apologize to me that you called my mother fat, she was a loving wife and she loved her children may she rest in peace. if you don’t apologize, I will pull the trigger and kill you right now. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME CLAPTRAP?”
“Yes sir, I am truly sorry for calling your mother fat. Please don’t kill, I am too young to die.” Claptrap answered with fear in his voice.
Mac could hear that Claptrap was scared and that was good enough for him, he put away the pistol. “Good, don’t you forget it.” Claptrap rolled away as fast as he could, he didn’t want to anger Mac more.
Hammerlock couldn’t help but smile of what he just saw. “Jolly good show, I never thought I would see the day that Claptrap apologize to anyone.” He then patted Mac on the shoulder. “Nice work.”
Mac placed the gun on his hip. “I can tolerate a lot of thing, but when someone insults my mother, that’s my limited.”
Hammerlock nodded. “I understand. Now that Liar’s Berg is clear, I might as well turn on the main power. This town’s full of things that may be of use to a go getting slayer of men like yourself. Follow me.” Hammerlock started to jog. “Charming fellow, isn’t this Jack? Spout drivel about ‘bringing peace to the frontier,’ then shoots unarmed men, women and children like it was going out of style! Bah, I’m spouting exposition again, aren’t I? Apologies!” What Hammerlock told Mac, made him even madder at jack. Killing children? What kind of monster does that? Mac followed Hammerlock.
They arrived at a generator, Claptrap was also there, looking very nervous. Mac smiled at that.
Hammerlock pressed a button. “Ah, there you are.” The generator came back to life, Hammerlock then walk over to a board and started to use his fist on it. “Come on, work, curse you! Ah, fecal matter, the bounty board is broken. The resistance must have disconnected it before they left for Sanctuary. I’d planned to post some jobs for you. Ah well, just talk to me and I’ll give you some work.”
Mac looked around. “People lived here?” He had a little trouble believing that humans lived in a place where there’s nothing but ice. But the crystal ponies managed to live up in the north in Equestria.
“That was a long time ago, the Bullymongs managed to drive them out. Though captain Flynt killed most of the people that lived in Liar’s Berg. I see no reason that wild Bullymongs should lalligag about the place, disrespecting the memories of the former townsfolk. If you could clear the town of them, that would be most gentlemanly.”
Mac crossed his arms. “Sure, as long as you are paying.”
“Just clear them out and I will reward you.” Said Hammerlock a little annoyed.
“Where are the Bullymongs?” Mac asked.
“They are right behind me.” He pointed his thumb behind him, Mac could see a bridge. “And there are some to my right, at the cemetery.”
“Alright, I will be right back.” Mac walked to Hammerlock’s right to started with the Bullymong at the cemetery.
He didn’t have to walk far and when he arrived there, he could see at least five off them, three big once and two small. He took out his sniper rifle and took care of the big once pretty fast, then small one charge him, he took out his pistol and managed to shoot them right in the face, killing them right away.
Mac then walk towards the bridge. When he was at middle of it, he looked down and saw a one of the big Bullymong just walking, minding his own business. Mac couldn’t help but smile of the opportunity, the Bullymonh was right underneath him. He jump from the bridge and landed right on top of the animal, killing it right away. Then the rest charge him which he killed with his shotgun.
Then Hammerlock appeared. “Most efficacious! Bullymongs will think twice about raiding peaceful cities in the future. Hopefully. Return to me and I will give your payment.” Mac headed back.
Once back he got paid and he also got a shield, he placed it on his hip. “That should teach them, I have another job for you if you are interested.”
“That depends. What is it?” Mac asked Hammerlock.
“Would you like to do battle with a midget riding piggyback on a Bullymong? If the answer is yes, please proceed to the Southern Shelf and defeat Midge Mon for me. If the answer is no, you are sad, and I’ve no desire to speak with you further.”
Mac just gave Hammerlock a blank look, wondering what he just heard. “You want me to kill a midget that is piggybacking a Bullymong?” Hammerlock nodded. “Why?”
“I came here to study Bullymongs remember, and I want to see how they act when there as midget riding them.”
Mac still gave Hammerlock a blank stare, he then eventually shrugged his shoulders. “Sure, why not. As long as I get paid. I’ll head to the Southern Shelf and kill this Midge Mon.”
He was about to go when Claptrap spoke. “Hey, what about my problem? I need to get to my ship.”
Mac gave Claptrap an angry glare that made the robot shake in fear. “When I am finished with my current task, I’ll help you.” He really didn’t want to, but something told him that the robot was his only way of this place.
Which that done, Mac decided to get job done. He headed towards what he thought was the controls of the gate that blocked his path, he puled the leaver that opened the gate and he was on his way.
While Mac was doing that, a mysterious figure just arrived in the same entrance to Liar’s Berg that Mac and Claptrap used.
Mac had just jump down a 3 feet cliff and landed on the ice, he was on his way to Southern Shelf to kill a midget that was riding a Bullymong. Mac had done a lot of thing he never thought he would do, save a princess from a nightmare, battle Discord the spirit of disharmony, helping Dusk get a castle in Ponyville, which he thinks is stupide. Who puts a castle in the middle of a small town like Ponyville? He would have said that he help save the crystal ponies but, the only thing he did was the heavy work. If there was something heavy that needed lifting, that was his job, nothing more. He didn’t miss it, that’s for sure. And now, now he was on his way to kill a midget riding a Bullymong. He couldn’t help but smile of what he had gotten himself into.
As he keep walking, he could see some house on his right side and there was bandits there, that was not his destination. His destination was right in front of him. He could see a giant house, a smaller house, two containers and an electric fence. Also, bandits, at least six of them. Mac decided to try and sneak up on them, he was not the stealthies pony, but he gave it chance. It looked like he could get in undetected on the left of the giant building, Mac crouch down and started to move towards them.
Somehow, he managed to sneak past all of the bandits. They didn’t even notice him, or they were incredibly stupid. Mac went for the last one. Mac hide behind the small house that on the left, he took a look around the corner and could see a bandit just leaning on the house he was hiding behind. He was wearing a green jacket with red mask that was covering his face. Mac didn’t care much of what he was wearing, this guy was in his way. Mac snuck up on him, grabbed his neck and snap it before he could alert his friends.
Mac then dragged his corps around the corner so no one could find the body, not right away. As soon as he had rounded the corner. “Hey Mike, where are you.” Mac quickly hid, he stood against the wall. “Don’t tell me that you are taking a piss again.” Mac took a peak around the corner as saw another bandit walking towards him, with an assault rifle in his hands, he hid again so he didn’t get spotted right by the bandit.
Mac waited for the bandit to come around the corner, when he did. “What’s up?” Before the bandit could do anything, Mac grabbed both the bandits shoulder and slammed his face into the wall of the house, Mac slammed him so hard that he heard a crack, the bandit was dead. “Sorry about that.” Mac said as he pick up the assault rifle, he study it and saw that it was in pretty good shape. “Huh, I guess bandits are good for something.” It even came with bullets. He saw then name Dahl. “Dahl? What’s that?” Mac had no idea, he just shrugged it off and hang the rifle around his arm.
Now, there was four of the left and sneaking was probably not possible anymore. There was no more places to hide anymore, time to go on the offence. Mac took out his sniper rifle, step out from his hiding spot and took aim at the bandit that was scouting on top of the large building, he pulled the trigger and saw the bandits head explode, which alerted the rest of the bandits.
The bandit that was closest saw him first. “Hey, there’s the Vault Hunter captain Flynt want. Shot him.” And with that said, the bandits started to shoot at him.
Mac took cover so he didn’t get hit by the bullets he had a shield, but he didn’t take any chances. He placed the sniper rifle on his back and took out the assault rifle. “Time to see if this is any good.” He waited for the bandit to stop shooting, when that happened, Mac came out and fired a few round into the bandit that was shooting at him, he hit and killed the bandit right away.
That just angrier the rest of them. “That was a mistake.” Then one bandit decided to throw a grenade at Mac, it landed right before his feet.
“Oh shit.” Mac ran as fast as he could but unfortunately, he was caught in the explosion and that send him flying forwards. He landed on the ground, face first. The shield took most of the damaged, but it still hurt. “Fuck, that hurt.” He was about to get up but was pushed down again by a foot, he then felt a gun on his head.
“End of the line, Vault Hunter.” Said the bandit that had his gun pointed at Mac’s head.
Mac closed his eyes and waited for the end but, it never came. He felt the foot on his back and the gun disappeared. “Don’t you bandits know that three against one isn’t fair.” That voice was not male, it was female. Mac looked to his right and there stood the most beautiful female he had ever seen, he thought that when he first saw her, and he still do think that she is beautiful. She had light blue hair, she was wearing a yellow and black overalls that only one sleeves, she was also wearing some black pants. She had some tattoos on her left arm.
“It’s another Vault Hunter, kill her.” Said another bandit.
Mac was about to act when the woman pulled out a gun and shoot two of the bandit in the head and then she threw the bandit she had suspended in the air, into the ice wall. Killing him.
The women then looked at Mac with a smile. “What’s up handsome? The names is Maya.”
Maya, the siren.
Mac tried to say something but was lost for words, he had never seen such power before. Only unicorns and alicorns could lift other from the ground and throw them around.
Maya walked over to Mac and offered him a hand he gladly took it she help him up. “I see that I got her just in time.” She said with a smile.
“Yeah, thanks by the way.” Mac told her while rubbing his shoulders.
“You ok?” She asked with a worried voice.
“I took a grenade to the back I am just glad that my shield took some of the damaged, but it still hurt like hell.” Maya nodded. “I’m guessing that Hammerlock told you where I was.”
“Yes, and it thought I would help you take down this midget that was riding a Bullymong.”
“I don’t mind the help.” Then he realize she didn’t know his name. “I’m Big Macintosh by the way, just call me Mac. It’s easier.”
“Nice to meet you Mac. Now, let’s hunt a midget.”
Mac nodded. “After you.”
“What a gentle man.” It wasn’t right, but Mac didn’t complain. He was stallion not a man.
They walked over to where the power box that was giving the fence it power, Maya was about to bull out the fuse. “As soon as I pull this out, there will nothing stopping the Bullymong for attacking us, ready?” Mac ready his assault rifle. “I’ll take that as a yes.” She bulled the fuse, electric fence dropped, Bullymongs attack them.
Mac fired of some shots that killed some of the small once, then the big one attack. Mac sift to the shout gun, taking out two of them before he had to reload. The last one tried to jump Mac, lucky for him, Maya used her power to stop the Buyllymong in the air, she then threw the animal into the ice wall killing it instantly.
When they were done, Mac decided to ask Maya something. “That power, what is it?”
“Have you never seen a siren power before?” Mac just shook his head. “Well, that was it and it called Phaselock and it give me the ability to stop one enemy for a few seconds.”
The first time Mac saw her power was on the train and it didn’t scare him at all, somehow it made her even more beautiful, he didn’t know why.
With the Bullymongs out of the way, they continued towards Southern Shelf.
Mac the pony and Maya the siren had arrived at Southern Shelf and the first thing they saw was ice, just more ice and Mac was getting tired of it, that and Bullymongs.
They were currently inside an ice cave. “Bloody ice.” Mac muttered to himself.
Maya heard him and could help but giggle. “You are right about that.” She then decided to ask him a question. “What’s your story? Why travel to Pandora to become a Vault Hunter?”
Mac wasn’t sure if he wanted to tell her, considering he didn’t know her that well. “Tell you what, if I tell you my reason, you will tell yours.”
Maya nodded. “Deal.”
Mac stop and so did she, he started to tell his reason. “Let’s see here, my parents and my granny died five years ago. I lost my house and farm to the bank because I did not manged to pay what my parents owed them, and my so calls friends didn’t even bother to help me. They just said, you got this Mac.” Maya couldn’t help but feel bad for him. “A few days before the bank was about to take my house, I found an ECHO device at the local post office in my town. I heard the recording about the vault. Then said fuck it, I packed up my things and left. There was nothing left for me.”
“What about the rest of your family? Why didn’t you ask them for help?” Maya asked her.
“I did and they didn’t want to help me, they said that my parents got themselves into the mess and it was my job to fix it. I couldn’t, even my little sister didn’t want to help me.”
Maya was shocked to hear what he said, that his own family didn’t want to help him. “I am sorry Mac I didn’t mean to bring up bad memory.”
He just shrugged it off. “Don’t worry about it, I tried not to think about it. I told you my reason, your turn.”
“Well, my reason for coming to Pandora is that I want to learn more about my Sirens lineage. You see, most of my life I lived with some monks that called themselves Order of the Impending Storm, they help me trained my powers and they saw me as their goddess and saviour. I eventually found out that they were using me to scare other people to give them money and obedience. I eventually killed their leader, left Athenas and now I am hear.”
Maya’s reason wasn’t as bad as Mac’s, but it was still bad, beginning used by an order just to scare a planet just so they could take advantage of the people there. It was pretty messed up.
“Sorry to hear that.”
She did was Mac did, just shrugged her shoulders. “Don’t be, I am glad I left those assholes. Although, this planet is probably even worse than mine. Thanks to that jackass Jack.” Mac agreed on that one. They counited to walk.
Eventually they arrived at a cliff and they saw holes in the ice and Bullymongs, they crouched down so they wouldn’t get spotted right away. There were small once, medium and big once.
“What should we do, take them out?” Maya asked Mac in a whispering tone.
“I’ll take them out, you stay here.” He whispered back.
Maua was offended when she heard that. “Just so you know, I don’t need protection.”
“Protection has nothing to about it, just stay here.”
Before she could say anything ells, Mac got up and took a few steps back. She then saw that Mac started to run towards the cliff, at the end of the cliff he jump of it and landed not far from Bullymongs. “Hey, you fucking wandering fur balls, over here.” They then charge him.
Maya was about to help him but stopped when it looked like Mac started to glow, out of curiosity, she decided to watch and see what happened. She got a shock when she saw what happened next, Mac kicked one of the big one and it flew at least ten feet in the air, when it landed it did not move. Then some of the small one attack Mac, he punched them so hard that he actually killed them with one punch. One tried to jump at him, but Mac just punch him the face, while the Bullymong was in the air, stop it dead in the track.
Maya just watch the whole thing and the only thing she could think about hoe sexy that pony was, she was getting turn on by of strong he was, she was getting a little horny. She was brought out of her thoughts when he was finished with them, she got up and jump down the cliff, she then ran to him.
When she arrived, she just looked at the dead Bullymong, at least she thinks they are dead.
“How did you do that?” She asked him.
“Do what?”
“This.” She gestured to the dead Bullymong that was lying around them. “You took out at least eight Bullymongs without breaking a sweat, I have never seen anything like it.”
“I am earth pony and we are known when it comes to strength.”
She believe him. “Then why were you glowing?”
Mac looked at her with a confusing look. “I was glowing?” Maya nodded. Mac scratch his head. “I have never done that before.” He the shrugged his shoulders. “Oh well.” He then started to walk towards the bridge, leaving a very confusing Maya.
“Wait a minute.” She walk after him. “Aren’t you a little curious why you glowed?” She asked him.
“I am guessing that I have some magic in me, but I am not an expert when it comes to this stuff. One of my former friends would probably know why but he isn’t here.” He rubbed his forehead. “Can we talk about this another time? I want find this midget that is riding the Bullymong.” Maya decided to respect what he said.
When they reached the bridge, Mac pulled the lever that made the raft move. Once on it, Maya pulled the lever on the raft and they were on the other side. They had to walk up some stairs and on the top, they saw a bunch of building and their destination, Blackburn cave.
“So, this is where this Midge Mon is.” Said Mac
“I guess so.”
They saw a bridge that was submerge under water and they had to pull a lever to expand it, unfortunately for them there were bandit on the other side with weapons. One it was expand they were in for a fight. Mac got ready his assault rifle while Maya got ready something that looked like a miniature version of an assault rifle. “What’s that?” He asked her.
“It’s bandit submachine gun or SMG for short, it’s not as powerful as assault rifle, but it gets the job done, at short range. If it that don’t work, I can just take out my gun.” Mac just nodded. “Then pull the leaver.” He did and the bridge raised.
One of the bandits was leaning towards the wall, he was bored. He notice that the bridge raised. “What the fuck?” He then looked at the other side and saw a female and a pony running across the bridge. He then shouted. “HEY, WE GOT VAULT HUNTERS COMING OVER…” That was all he could say before Mac put a bulled into his skull.
Even that Mac managed to kill the bandit, the others was alerted. “Here they come.” He was right, out of the buildings that was just across the bridge, came out two more bandit. Mac killed one while Maya took out the other one.
They both hide behind the first house and Mac took a look around the corner. He saw no activate. “It’s look like they didn’t hear him shout or the shots.” He told Maya.
“We should be careful we are still outnumber.” Mac agreed with that.
Mac step out from the corner with his assault rifle raised and ready to fire, Maya followed him. They had to cross another bridge, there was a house on their left that they hide behind. Mac took a look around the corner of the house, he told Maya was he saw. “I can see at least three bandits and three psychos, they haven’t notice us yet.”
“Can you use your sniper rifle to take one of them out?” Maya asked him.
“If I did, a hell would break loss.” He looked at her. “See is you can get around the other side of the house.” She nodded and went the other way it didn’t take long before she returned.
“No good, the way is block.”
“There goes that idea.” Mac though for a moment. “Alright, new plan. You see those two barrels up ahead?”
Mac and Maya switch position so the siren could see around the corner. “Yeah, I see them.”
“Try and sneak up to the barrels while I position myself behind that box.” Maya saw the box he was talking about, it was ‘leaning’ against the wall. “I will take up position there and take them out with my sniper rifle while you take them out from the barrels.”
Maya like the plan. “I can do that.” She walked around the corner and headed towards the barrels, also nothing trying to be seen.
Mac watch her go and couldn’t help but think that she had a sexy ass, he shook his head. ‘Focus Mac.’ He followed her and took up position behind the box. He waited for Maya to get in position, strangely enough, none of the bandits or the psychos saw or notice her. ‘Are they idiots?’ He though while aiming his sniper rifle at one of the bandits. “Nighty night.” He took the shout and his head disappeared.
Before anyone could react, Maya revealed herself from here she was hiding. She just her Siren power to life one of the psychos in the air, she then killed it with her gun. Mac reloaded as fast as head could, he took aim at another one and managed to hit a bandit straight in chest, the bullet went through. Maya managed to take out the rest with putting a bullet in their skull.
Once they were all dead, Mac walked out from the box and walk to Maya. He looked at her ‘work’. “Remember me not to piss you off.”
She gave him a sly smile. “Don’t worry about that handsome.” Somehow, that made Mac blush and he was relieved that he had red fur.
Mac rubbed his neck. “Well, back to the task. There’s no way that the rest of the bandits didn’t hear the gun shots, we are probably up for a fight.” As soon as Mac said those words, a psycho came running towards them. Maya took him out with a bullet to the head.
Mac put away the sniper rifle and got ready the assault rifle while Maya got read her SMG, they had one hell of a fight coming for them.
They crossed the bridge to their right and as they did, more psychos came charging at them. Mac fired first and he managed to hit some of them, Maya took out he rest. Then they arrived at large opened place and there were more enemy’s to kill. After taking care of them, they had to climb higher on some roof tops. They took care of the enemy’s there to until they reach their destination, a couple of double doors.
Once there, Mac was ready to kick the doors in when they suddenly opened with force and a middles side Bullymong came out, riding it was a midget.
Hammerlock. “Ah, what an unlikely symbiotic relationship, two deadly creatures cooperating to survive this harsh environment! Also, the midget looks like a little human backpack, and that’s funny.”
“You have a weird sense when it comes to humour Hammerlock.” Said Mac as he got up after he was knock down by the doors.
Hammerlock. “Hm, I guess so.”
Once the conversation was over, Mac and Maya headed after the Bullymong who had moved a floor down. They chase it and fired shoots after but the Bullyomng keep leaping away, that made them miss.
“Dame it, it won’t stand still.” Mac looked over to Maya. “Can you use your ability to stop them?” He asked her.
“Yes, but they have to be close.”
Mac nodded. “Alright, I’ll chase after it and force them towards you, once you have them trap, we kill them.” Maya like the plan.
Mac jump down a floor and started to chase the midget the was riding the Bullmong, she watch as those two jump from place to place and Mac chasing after them. Mac managed eventually to get the Bullymong close enough so Maya could lock them in the air, once she had done that, they fired enough bullets into the Bullyomg and midget to make a swiss cheese.
Hammerlock. “Wonderful! That fracas was most helpful to my studies on Bullymong social structures. Return to me at your earlies convenience.”
Maya walked over to the corpse and kick it. “That Hammerlock, he has some weird ways to study other creatures.”
Mac nodded. “You got that right, let’s head back.” And they did.
Before they left Southern Shelf, Mac decided to ask Maya something. “So, did a woman guide you here?”
“You mean the women that appeared in my ECHO device after the explosion?” Mac nodded. “Yes, and what’s with her? She says that we are the only one who can stop Handsome Jack, for doing whatever he is doing.”
“I have no idea what she is planning but one thing is for sure, I don’t like begging used, it has happened to me before and I didn’t like it. Once we are off the glacier, I am going to ask her.” With that said, they left Southern Shelf.
When Mac and Maya finally arrived back at Liar’s Berg, the sun was setting. Hammerlock pay them and them he offered them a place to stay for he night, Claptrap off course complained that Mac hadn’t help him with his trouble. Mac was too tired to listen to him.
They were currently walking back to the house where Mac had first meet Hammerlock, it was the safest place in the whole town thanks the electrical fence.
“I assure you both that the beds here are very comfortable.” Hammerlock told them while walking towards the house, Mac and Maya had to take his words for it. “And I am sure your fellow Vault Hunters is glad that you are alive.” That just confused them.
When they arrived at the house, Hammerlock opened the door and they step inside a living room and there sat two humans Mac had seen before, on the train. One was a little girl who was at least fifteen years old and she was wearing something that looked like school uniform, she had a hood on her head and her eyes was glowing? Her left arm was of metal. She was sitting on the couch fiddling with her metal arm.
Gaige the Mechromancer
The other one was sitting on a shelf and he was sharpening his sword. He was wearing a black suit which has some white on it, he was wearing a black helmet that was covering his face and he had the number zero on his chest.
Zero as a number.
The girl was the first one to notice them. “Hey, is the horse and the siren.” Mac wanted to scream when she called him a horse. “I haven’t seen you two since the train explode, which was awesome by the way.” Not the words Mac would have used.
“Yeah, it was a wild train ride.” Said Maya.
Then Hammerlock step inside. “I see you all have meet, again. I have some bad news, there only for beds so one of you have to use the couch.” Mac and Maya gave him an angry glare. “I am terribly sorry, I forgot it.” He said in embarrassing tone.
Before anyone could say anything, Mac walked over to the couch. “I’ll take it.” He sat down it.
“Are you sure Mac? It doesn’t look that very good.” Maya said in a worried voice.
Mac just waved if off. “Eeyup, I have slept on a couch for a month before I left my plant.”
Maya nodded. “If you say so.” She then decided to ask the other Vault Hunters something. “Now that we know who is sleeping where, might we get your names?”
The girls smiled. “Sure, my name is Gaige and guy with the sword is Zero.” Zero just gave them a nod. “He doesn’t speak much but when he does, he speaks in a launches I haven’t heard before.”
Then Zero decided to speak. “Greetings, I'm Zero/Occupation: Vault Hunter/Just like all of you.”
Maya and Hammerlock just gave him a blank look, they had never heard the languages before. “It’s called Haiku.” Said Mac which made everyone stare at him with surprised look. “What? I know stuff.”
Gaige was the first one to recover. “Whatever, I am tired, so I am headlining to bed.” She jump of the couch and headed to the back of the house. “Talk to you guys tomorrow.”
When she was almost at the door, Claptrap rolled in. “Wow, two new minions. This is great, captain Flynt doesn’t stand a chance now. I’ll get my ship back in no time.” Then Claptrap just realized what he said. “Oh crap.” He look over to Mac who was giving him a very angry look.
They all now look at the robot, Gaige pointed her metallic finger at Claptrap. “Did that robot just call me minion?”
“Yes.” Said Mac, Maya and Hammerlock at the same time.
Gaige walk over to Claptrap and she didn’t look happy. “You listen to me tin can, I am not your minion and if you call me that again, I will let Deathtrap slice you into pieces.”
“Who is Deathtrap?” Claptrap asked in a confusing tone.
The mechromancer extended her left arm forward as small blue bits of data began to form around her as well as in front of her. As she rose her arm up, a large mechanical contraption rose as well. This one was not like that of Claptrap, but instead was a full on machine of death with metal claws as it floated nearby Gaige. Who was just smirking at Claptrap.
“This is Deathrap” The sight of the robot made Claptrap shake in fear. “and don’t you dear call me a minion again.”
Claptrap saluted. “Yes mam, I will not call you or anyone ells a minion ever again, I promise.” Gaige wasn’t sure if she believe him, but she made him terrified and that was enough. She walk towards the door where the beds was and Deathrap followed her.
“I think I will sleep outside.” Claptrap then rolled outside.
Hammerlock, who had watch what happened. “Well, as entertaining it had been seen seeing someone scaring Claptrap twice in one day, I think I’m going to hit the hay. Good night everyone.” He then walked after Gaige. Maya and Zero followed after him leaving Mac alone in the living room.
He took of his bag he had forgotten he had and placed it beside the couch, he then lay down on it and let out a heavy sigh. “What a day, if Dusk had seen what happened on this planet, he would probably have a heart attack.” He then let out a big yawn, he covert his eyes with his hat. “Friends is magic, my ass.” He mutter before he feel asleep.
Mac awoke the next day, he opened his eyes and saw that he was in the same place as previous day. He sat up and rub the trienes out of his eyes. “I need some air.” He got up and grabbed his bag before headlining out the door.
Once outside he could fell the cold wind hitting him in the face, it felt good. He then saw that Claptrap had tugged himself in and was standing beside the door. ‘Huh, I guess robots can sleep.’ He thought to himself. He then heard his stomach make some noise. ‘Time for breakfast.’ He opened his bag and took out a sandwiches, which he had packed with him. He leaned against the wall of the house and started to eat.
While Mac was eating, the door opened and Maya and rest step outside. Gaige was the first one to say something. “I wish that I had taken the cough, bloody Hammerlock snored.”
“Yes, it’s a habit that I am not proud of.” He said with some embarrassment.
Then they all notice that Mac was eating. “Where the hell did you get that sandwiches? Gaige asked Mac while drooling.
“I made it before I left.” He answered with a shrug of his shoulders. They just stared at him, hungry. He let out a sigh. “Fine.” He took out more sandwiches and so they also could eat.
“Man, this might be the best sandwiches I have ever eaten.” Said Gaige as she was eating her fourth sandwiches, the other agreed. “Are you some sort of cock?”
That question surprise Mac, he had never seen himself as a cock before, only a farmer. His mother taught him since he was a young colt, she was the cock in their house not him but that chance one day. When his parent’s died, he was the one who made all the food. His sister Apple Bloom never cared about that stuff.
“Not really, I was a farmer before I got here, never considered myself as a cock.”
They were to say something, but Claptrap beat them to it. “As happy I am to see that you are getting along, I still need help to get to my ship. Are you going to help?” Everyone gave the robot an angry look. “What? Was it something I said?”
Mac wanted to punch him, but he decided not to. “Never mine, let’s just get this over with.” He finished his last sandwiches and followed Claptrap as the robot started to roll out the gate. Maya followed him.
“I will catch up with you later, I still have some work here. I will see you all in Sanctuary.” Said Hammerlock as he waved them good bye.
“Hey, wait for me.” Said Gaige as she finished up her sandwiches and ran after them.
One their way out of Liar’s Berg, they saw Zero training with his sword. The mystery man had accepted some sandwiches but after that he just walk off to do some training, they never saw him eat his food.
“You coming Zero?” Mac asked him, the man just nodded.
As they walked out of the gate, Claptrap started to talk. “Flynt and I had a gentlemen’s agreement in the past: I give him the loot from the bodies Jack ditches in the glacier, he then promises not to torture me for hours at a time. Then he does it anyway. But that ends today! We’re gonna take him out, steal my ship back, and sail to Sanctuary!”
As soon as he was one talking, Gaige leaned over to Maya. “Is it bad that I don’t feel any sympathy for the robot?” She asked the siren in a whispering tone.
“Don’t worry about it.” She whispered back.
Then Flynt came up on the ECHO. “Here’s what’s gonna happen, Vault Hunters. My first mare Boom Dewm is gonna kill ya, Jack’s gonna pay us, and I’m gonna play hopscotch in your chest cavity!”
“Rather unlikely/Odds are not in their favour/Time to go to work.” Said Zero in his usual tone
Gaige just stare at him. “Can you even speak ‘normal’?” She asked him.
“Just ignore it Gaige.” Maya told her.
“Ignore it? How can I ignore that this guy is talking so weird.” Gaige said in a frustrated tone.
“If he want to talk like that then let him.” Mac told her, he had some experience when it came to others talking funny, for him it was Zecora. He still can’t believe that the whole town was afraid of her just because she was wearing a hood over her face and that she was a zebra.
Then Claptrap started to talk, again. “You guys have to be careful taking down Boom Bewm. He’s one of the ‘Ripper’ clan. As in, ‘flesh-ripper.’ I don’t have to tell you why they’re called that.” Mac could only think of one word when he heard that, charming.
Then Jack appeared. “Hey! How’s it, god, these pretzels suck. How’s your day been, buddy? We haven’t really talked much since I, heh, left you all for dead. Hey, you think you’ll freeze to death out there? Nah, probably not. The bandits’ll get you first. My day? It’s been pretty good. Just bought a pony made of diamonds. Yeah, because I’m rich! So, you know. That’s cool. Kay, bye.” They just ignored him.
As jack was done talking, Mac and the rest had arrived at some buildings where there were bandits, which was Flynt’s men. When they saw the Vault hunter, they opened fire on them. They managed to doge some of the bullets and Gaige summoned Deathrap who immediately went into action, the death robot kill two of them. Mac took out his assault rifled and managed to kill two of them, Maya used her siren ability to take out two more, Zero killed the last one using his sword.
“Man, we are here fighting for life and that asshole Jack is living the good life.” She snap her metallic arm, Deathrap then disappeared. “What a prick.” They all agreed on what she said.
They ventured on and then Jack appeared again. “I’m rackin’ my brain trying to think of a name for that diamond pony I bought. I was gonna call it ‘piss-for-brains’ in honor of one you, but that just feels… immature. Hey, maybe ‘Butt Stallion?’ Nah, that’s even worse. Tell ya what, I’ll give it some more thought.” Mac was really hoping that he didn’t call it Butt stallion.
Then Claptrap led them to something that looked like a meat gate, without a door. On the other side of that gate was more building and bandits. Mac had to wonder how many bandits Flynt had, he couldn’t think about that now, they were taking fire.
They all hide behind a metal bar on the ground. “Man, these guys are everywhere.” Said Gaige as the fired a few shouts from her hand gun, killing one of them.
“You can say that again.” Said Mac as he looked over the bar to see just how many there were. “I count at least seven, maybe more.” He told them as he took cover again. He then notice that Zero didn’t have any weapon, took of his sniper rifle. “Zero, catch.” Mac threw the sniper rifle to him. Zero managed to catch it and gave a nod as thank you.
Maya looked at the pony. “Don’t you need it?” She asked him.
“Not really, it never felt right using it.” He then took his assault rifle. “Gaige, catch.” He threw the weapon to young Mechromancer, she manged to catch the weapon.
Not entirely sure what to say, she just said. “Thank you?” You can say that she was confused.
Maya gave Mac a questionable look. “Stop looking at me that way. Like I said, it didn’t feel right.” Then a bullet flew over his head. “Let’s finish this already.” He grabbed his hand gun and got up and put two pullets in the heads of two bandits.
Maya followed she use her Phaselock to levitate one of them and Zero took him out with a bullet to the dead, then one of them tried to run towards Mac, he just grabbed his shotgun and shot him right in the stomach. Gaige then jump over the cover and fire some shots from the assault rifle Mac gave her, she killed the last bandits.
“Well, that was fun. What’s next?” She asked while resting the assault rifle on her shoulder.
Mac walked over to the one he shot with the shotgun and saw that bandit was wearing some kind of mask. “That’s a Psycho.” Sid Maya while walking towards him. “They are a little crazier than your normal bandit.” She told him when she stood beside him. “You don’t have does on your planet?” Mac just shook his head. “Probably for the best, they are pretty crazy.”
They then saw Claptrap roll towards a control panel, he then started to press some of the buttons. “Aaaaaand open!” The bridge fell down.
Then Jack appeared. “I should probably clarify, the diamond horse I’ve been telling you about? It’s not a sculpture, or anything. It’s a living horse that actually happens to be made of, actually, I’ll just go get her. Butt Stallion! Here girl Butt Stallion! Say hello!” They then hear a horse wailing. “Butt stallion says hello.” While he was talking, Mac and the others had killed two Psycho’s that was running towards them with a grenade in their hands.
Then Zero said. “You say stallion/Yet, you also say 'here girl'/Would she be butt mare?” They all gave Zero a confusing look, even Claptrap was confused.
Then Jack appeared again. “Just shut the hell up, freaking bad guy.”
They then walked over the bridge, ignoring what just transpired. At the end, they jump down a hole. Then Claptrap started to panic. “It’s Boom Bewm! AHHHHHHHHHH!” He then started to roller around on panic.
The Vault Hunters looked in front of them and saw someone sitting on a cannon? He was wearing a yellow suit with a yellow mask he also has grenades strap to his suit. “Light the fuses, bitches.” He then made an odd position. Then another guy appeared doing the same thing, the Vault hunters was wondering what the hell they saw.
Boom …and his brother Bwen
He then said. “I’m ready to blow.” Boom then jump into his mortal and started to fire at Mac and the others. They had to jump into cover just so they didn’t get blown up.
“This is insane.” Said Gaige as she and the rest was hiding behind some metal boxes. “How are we going to defeat him while he’s on that thing?” She asked the rest. “I am open to suggestion.”
“I have an idea but it’s risky.” Mac told them.
“At the moment I don’t care it’s risky, I don’t want to die here.” Maya and Zero agree with that Gaige said.
Mac started to explain. “Three of us have to act as decoys, while he busy with that, Zero can take him out with the sniper rifle.” It wasn’t the best plan, but it was all they had, they all agree. “Alright, let’s move when he is reloading. I am going after other guy.”
They all waited for Boom to reload, when he did, Mac, Maya and Gaige sprang into action. Gaige summoned Deathtrap for extra help. Mac’s plan work, Boom didn’t know which one to shoot at, so he went after Maya first, while he was aiming at her, Zero got ready and fire a bullet towards Boo, the first bullet just hit the shield. Zero reloaded and fired again, the bullet hit the shield again. Boom decided to go after Zero again.
While they were busy, Mac want after Bewn. It didn’t take long before Mac found him, Bwem just as tall as Boom. “Get ready to…” That was all he could say before Mac kick him so hard that he flew towards the closet wall. “… take a nap. Idiot.” Mac then just watch as the rest of the hunters took out the rest.
Gaige robot took out some of the psycho while Gaige used her assault rifle, Maya use her powers and her gun while Zero managed to take down Boom’s shield, he then put bullet into his skull.
While Mac and the others had taken care of the enemy, Claptrap had hid himself, avoiding the battle.
Mac walked over to the robot and kick him .”Hey, the battle is over.”
Claptrap didn’t hide anymore when he heard that. “It is? Great, let go.” He rolled towards the big metal gate. “I have to admit, he sure said ‘boom’ a lot.” They arrived to the metal gate, he then started to hit it. “Raggin’ fraggin’ locked gate, ooh! Idea! One of can use the cannon to blast this door down,”
That got Gaige to run towards the cannon while saying. “Dips.” While she was running towards the cannon. Mac and the others decided to get more distant form the metal gate, they didn’t want to get caught in the explosion.
While Claptrap just stood there, looking at the gate. “but DON’T do it until I’m out of the way! Understand? If you shot the gate now, that could cause SERIOUS damage to me.” While he was talking, Gaige had gotten on the cannon.
Maya decided to warn the robot. “Claptrap, you should…” BOOM. It was too late.
They then heard Claptrap yell. “AHHHHHHHHHHHHH.” And he was gone.
Then Zero said. “And away he goes/Into the frozen unknown/Shall we follow him?”
Gaige jump of the cannon. “That was a blast.” She told Mac and the others while walking towards them. She then notice something. “Hey, where is Claptrap?” She then looked at the gate. “Did I just shoot he gate while he was still there?” She asked them.
“Pretty much.” Mac told her. “Let find out where he is, we need him to get of this glazier.”
They didn’t like it, but Mac had a pointed, they head through the gate to catch up with Claptrap, where ever he was.
As the Vault hunter entered a place called the Soaring Dragon, the entire ground shock.
“What the hell was that?” Asked Gaige as the had trouble keeping her balance.
“That was Jack, drilling into the planets core.” Said Maya.
“Seriously?” Maya nodded. “Wow, hey Zero what do you think…” Gaige words died in her mouth when she didn’t saw the assassin was gone. “Where did he go?” All of them looked around and saw that he was gone.
They all wonder how Zero could disappeared like that. “Let’s worried about that later, right now I want to get of this glacier.” Said Mac as he started to walk again.
“Wait a minute, are you just going to ignore that he just disappeared like that?” Gaige asked him.
He stopped and turned around. “I don’t care where why he disappeared, I just meet him, so I don’t know him. Hell, I don’t even know you two, I just meet you so why should I care.” Both girls was a little shocked over what he just said.
“Man, you have a negative view when it comes to others.” Said Gaige.
“No, I just don’t trust others I just meet. I am going after Claptrap, you two came come along if you want, I don’t really care.” Mac started to walk again.
Both girls just looked at each other with confusion. “What just happened?” Gaige asked the siren.
Maya didn’t answer, she walked in front of Mac and put hand on his chest to stop him. “Ok, what’s going on? Why did you flip one eighty? Have we done something wrong?” She asked him.
“It’s not what you have done it’s what you are going to do and that’s to use me and then you are going to ditch me, that’s wrong.” He said with some anger in his voice.
Maya and Gaige was confused before, now they are even more confused. “Why would we just use you and ditch you?” Maya asked.
“Isn’t that in your nature? Isn’t that in everyone’s nature? It has happened to me before and something tells me it will happened to me again.”
Maya wasn’t sure what has happened to Mac in the past, but it didn’t sound pleasant. “Look Mac, I don’t know what has happened to you in the past, but you can trust me on this, I am not going to use you and then ditch you. You have my word on that.”
Mac looked for any sign of that she was lying, she wasn’t. “You are telling the truth, that’s for sure.”
Maya wanted to ask him how he knew that she wasn’t lying, but Gaige spoke first. “That’s goes for me to, I think you are way to cool to betrayal and beside, you gave me your assault rifle back there.” She pointed her thumb where they came from.
Mac studied her face. “You aren’t lying either, that’s something but time will tell.” He walked past Maya.
Gaige then walked to the siren. “What do you think happened to him before he came here.” The mechromancer asked.
“I don’t know, let’s ask him another time, when he is in good mood.” Gaige nodded in agreement. They walked after Mac.
As they walked down the slope the ground started to shake and then Claptrap appeared. “So, uh, I might have tried to stage a mutiny on captain Flynt’s ship before the flash, freeze. Which explains why his men are currently beating the crap out of me. Right, guys?”
A bandit. “SHUT UP!”
Claptrap. “Okay!”
“Just hang in there Claptrap, we are on our way.” Mac told him.
As they walked, Gaige notice a shed on their right, two bandits had tied someone up to a chair and was beating him up. “Guys, look over there.” Mac and Maya looked where Gaige was pointing. “Those bandits are beating up that guy, we have to help him.” They saw that it was the same military guy from the train.
“You are going to tell us where the rest of the vault hunters are and then maybe we will let you go.” Said the first bandit.”
The military just spit some blood into the snow. “I don’t know where they are and if I did I wouldn’t tell you two assholes.” That made the second bandit to punch him. “You call that a punch? My grandmother punches harder than that.” He got punched again.
“You don’t know when to shut up, do you?” Said the second bandit.
The military just gave them a cocky smiled. “Nope, I never learned how to.”
While the two bandits was busy beating up the tide up man, they didn’t notice the three vault hunter coming up behind them.
“You know, beating up a man who is tied up isn’t fair.” Mac told the bandits.
“We know but’s it’s fun.” Said the first bandit. Then they both realized something. “Who said that?”
Both of them turned around and saw a giant pony looking at them. “What’s up?” before they could do anything, Mac smash their heads together knocking them both out. “Take a nap, jackasses.”
While Mac took care of the bandits, Maya managed to free the military man. “Thanks.” He stood up and tub his wrist. “The names is Axton and I haven’t seen you guys since the train exploded.” He told them.
“Yeah, how did you end up here?” Mac asked him.
Axton rubbed his head. “I have no idea, after the explosion I woke up tied to a chair and those bandits was beating me up while trying to get information out of me, information I didn’t have.”
“They wanted information on where we were, right?” Maya as Axton.
“That’s right. By the away,” Axton look at everyone. “I don’t even know your names.”
“I’m Maya, and the girl is Gaige.” The mechromancer just saluted him two fingers.” And there’s Mac.” He just gave him a nod.
Axton nodded his head. “Cool. So, what are you doing?”
“We are going to save a Claptrap, a CL4P-TP unit from a guy by name of Flynt…” Gaige was interrupted.
Then Flynt appeared. “That’s CAPTAIN FLYNT to you, you little shit.”
Gaige rolled her eyes. “Whatever. We are going to save Claptrap from Flynt because he have a boat we can use to get of this place.” Gaige told Axton.
Axton just smiled. “Then what are we waiting for? Let’s save this CL4P-TP unit and get of this glacier.” He then pick up an assault rifle that was lying by one of the bandits, he then cock it. “Let’s kill some bandits.” He then started to run towards the giant metal dragon that was spitting fire.
“Do you think we can trust him?” Gaige asked the other.
“I think so, Jack wanted him dead so yeah.” Maya told the young vault hunter.
