Sonata wishes to free the souls of her sisters trapped within jars and travels to Equestria with her friends in order to liberate them. However, mysterious portals connected to Sunset Shimmer are manifesting at seemingly random all over.

Sunny, the human counterpart of Sunset Shimmer, travels with Flash Sentry and Sonata Dusk to Equestria in order to free Adagio Dazzle, Aria Blaze, and Inky Rose from the canopi jars which entomb their souls. They convince the human six to cross over with them, hoping it will lead to a relaxing vacation.

However, a crisis is slowly brewing in Equestria, as portals start to manifest at seemingly random across the land, and ancient beasts start to rampage all over. Could Sunset Shimmer, who sacrificed herself to save the world, somehow be at the center of it all?

Over the months relative peace settled back over the town. However, there would always be those who'd seek to take advantage of the situation. But with the geodes permanently bonded to the Rainbooms, they had turned to bounty hunting on occasion, basking in the adulation of the townspeople while they cleaned up messes all over and made a small fortune in return.

With the chokers around their necks they were easily able to keep in contact and respond to whatever incidents that were picked up on the radio, ever since Twilight Sparkle and Moondancer had fined-tuned the devices to act like police band scanners. Whenever they put their mind to it they were a well-coordinated unit, quickly responding to and dealing with disturbances.

With the loss of her double Sunny was forced to live a lie. Only those directly involved knew the truth; Sunset Shimmer had sacrificed herself to close a portal to a hellish dimension which had almost ruined the planet. She'd pretended to be her for sometime while also trying to build her own identity, inheriting her life and everything that came with it.

The best part? Flash Sentry, who despite his reluctance had entered a relationship with her and Sonata Dusk, assured that's what Sunset would have wanted. She sat on the bed in her little house, wearing Shimmer's old outfit down to the badgirl black boots and leather jacket. “Some habits are hard to break,” she admitted staring at a crumpled pack of cigarettes.

“How can you stand those nasty things?” Sonata's wet hair was down, wrapped up in a towel when she stepped from the shower, skin glistening under a thin sheen of moisture. “Bad enough you get shit-drunk all the time!”

“Yeah...” Sunny chuckled. She'd turned to all sorts of vices, even some milder drugs, in a self-destructive spiral when her parents had mocked and abused her. Meeting her double from Equestria had made things better and worse; she was happy she'd succeeded in some form, and lived vicariously through her, but simultaneously it reminded her what a failure she'd turned out to be. “Don't worry. I've kicked the habit. Mostly.” She fidgeting a little, reaching for a stick of gum instead.

The little abode had been rundown, but Flash had put his handyman skills to work, touching it up into something nice if still a bit plain. He strolled in from the kitchen, hands in his jean pockets while he managed a small smile. “Good morning.”

“Yo.” Sunny lazily waved and looked to the diary with Sunset's cutie mark on its cover. “Almost time for that little vacation.”

“About that.... I think we should invite our friends,” he said. “They have a stake in this, too.”

“Sure, I don't mind. Don't think they care much for me, though.” Sunny shrugged her shoulders. “I mean, I can't blame them. I took Sunset's place, not to mention I screwed with their world.”

“Hey, it could've happened to anyone.” He squeezed her shoulder.

“Besides,” reminded Sonata. “Some of us liked that dream world you created! Imagine all the fun we could've had there...” She slowly opened her towel with a smirk, exposing her wet, voluptuous body underneath, breasts so large they drooped and blue pubes moist and sticky upon her tight vulva. She batted her eyelashes. “You two up for a romp?”

“You know I'm down,” said Sunny who's clothes dematerialized to be replaced by the strange markings that denoted Sunset's geode was fused to her. “Not only does it let me fight crime...but it makes me even sexier.”

“That's hot,” admitted Flash, her skin bare save for the strategically-placed rune-like symbols.

Sunny crawled towards him on all fours to the bed's edge, breasts swaying while they hung down. With her power she, Flash, and Sonata had achieved a whole new level of intimacy. “Ready to fuck each other senseless?”

“Maybe later,” said Flash who admittedly couldn't look away. “Unfortunately, we have work to do.”

Sonata pouted. “Come on! What about you, Sunny? Just a little quickie?” She laid a hand on her thigh, running up her supple skin, raising up her skirt and letting the cute black panties below peek out. “You know I'll make you feel real good!”

Sunny laughed and squeezed her hand. “I know. But Flash has a point. We need to take care of business first.” When Sonata frowned she poked her nose. “Hey, cheer up. Twilight said we could take the soul jars with us.”

“About that,” he said. “Twilight had a condition...she wants to visit Equestria, too. So I figured it's only fair if we invite everyone else. Moondancer will look after her work here. Applejack's family can take care of their farm, same with Pinkie and her sisters, Rarity has her assistants, Tree Hugger can hold down Fluttershy's shelters.... I mean, I don't want to presume, but I think we could all use a change of scenery after all that's happened. Clear our heads, see some new stuff.”

“Sounds like a plan. I'll get right on it.” Sunny tapped her choker and tuned into the right channels. They'd decided that cellphones were for casual contact and the collars were for business. And well, even if this was an adventure, it could turn out to be quite an undertaking, couldn't it? After all, it was a journey to an unknown world to free the souls of those lost...

*****

After a short meeting was called it was agreed that the Rainbooms would travel with them to Equestria. Twilight Sparkle had rigged up a device to the portal, which now lied on the grounds of Canterlot Academy, the statue it was embedded into now depicting a troika of Celestia, Luna, and Cadance who stood back-to-back with their hands linked.

Now that Celestia, Luna, and Cadance were busy with Equestrian Suicidal Girls they'd passed the rebuilt Canterlot Academy onto someone they trusted; Cheerilee, who despite her nervousness had agreed to undertake the project.

It was evening and the skies were starting to darken, stars peeking out as the sun started to dip and the moon rose. An engine sounded when Sunny arrived on her motorbike, Sonata holding on fast to her midsection behind her when she pulled to a stop. She parked and they hopped off, a number of cars having already arrived near the lawn.

Applejack stood hand-in-hand with Rarity, who'd now made their relationship open. The former had said a teary farewell to her family, the latter the same, particularly to her little sister. A similar event had taken place with Pinkie, who knew her sisters were more than capable of looking after things without her like they always had when she was away.

Tree Hugger came to see her girlfriend off in person. “You'll be fine, babe. I will too, you know?” She tried to hide her watery eyes, not that it was easy when she was so receptive to Fluttershy's tears.

“I know.” Fluttershy forced a smile despite her sobbing. “I wish you could come, but-”

“Someone has to look after the animals, and like, you can't trust just anyone. I get it. Now,” she spun Shy around and whapped her playfully on her wide posterior to sent her forward with a chuckle. “Try not to fool around with my double too much, 'k?”

Shy's face colored, scandalized by her teasing. “I'd never! No matter how cute she is!”

“Come on, you totally have my permission. I'm sure you're curious, right? Try a little free love for a time.” She poked her bottom with an index finger from behind. “You need to find yourself before we can settle down.”

She shook her head. “You're the only one for me, Tree.”

At the same time Twilight and Moondancer were rigging up the machinery around the statues which would activate the portal. “Once we've started it will only be open a short time,” warned Moondancer. “And it will probably be some time before we can reopen it again. So make sure you've finished all your business here, because there won't be time to turn back.”

Rainbow Dash heaved her shoulders. “I don't have too many ties here.” Nevertheless Trixie and her sidekicks Lavender Lace and Fuschia Blush had come to see her off anyway. “Look after the place in my absence, will ya?”

Trixie tossed back her hair with a flourish. “You can count on Trixie! With a little help from her assistants,” she added.

Pinkie zipped around the mechanisms set around the statue's base with saucer-like eyes. “Ooh, I can't wait!”

Sonata carried the soul jars that contained the spirits of Adagio and Aria in her arms, her geode still suspended by a necklace which left it hanging between her breasts, while Sunny held onto the urn which contained Inky Rose's soul.

The machine lit up and a swirling azure portal materialized at the statue's base. “Now or never,” said AJ.

Rarity exchanged a quick, tender peck with her. “I wonder what will happen to our geodes on the other side? I suppose we'll find out soon enough!” They were the first to cross over, while the rest lined up after them and followed.

Twilight adjusted Moondancer's glasses, waiting until every else had piled into shimmery nexus between worlds. “Look after the house, will you? Especially Spike. I know he can be a handful sometimes.” She laughed.

“You know I will. Take care.” She drew out a kiss between them before they parted.

With a final look back Twilight stepped in. Outside of Sonata they'd had little direct contact with Equestria and had no idea what awaited them. Their friends would take their vehicles back and look after their homes. The police could look after whatever petty crimes would happen in their absence. Perhaps they would finally have the getaway that they deserved?

*****

With a tumble the adventurers landed in the candy-colored countryside. They ended up in a pile, somehow seeming to arrive almost at the same time. They hobbled to their hooves unsteadily, adjusting to their strange new forms. Some like Pinkie, Rainbow, and AJ seemed to take almost instantly to these new shapes, reveling in their newfound freedom.

Others were far more unsteady. Flash flexed his new wings, sailing into the air, and immediately sailed into a tree trunk with a thunk. “Ouch,” he muttered looking around with red cheeks. He held down his tail, trying to obscure his unmentionables.

For some reason Sonata had emerged as an earth pony, perhaps through a combination of how her powers were lost after her banishment, and how she perceived herself since. “Don't be shy, we all let it hang out here!”

Sunny's eyes darted around, frantically searching for the soul jar, and was relieved to find it within her saddlebags. It seemed their stuff had metamorphed into similar bags neatly carried on them. She plucked out Sunset's diary and started to write to Princess Twilight, a pen held between her teeth. She'd find out where they were and meet up with her soon.

Rarity's horn glowed when she experimented with a bit of rudimentary telekinesis, lifting a few stones. “It's not so different from using a geode,” she mused. “With practice we'll master our new guises in no time, darlings!”

Sonata sniffed the fresh air. “Wish we could be by the ocean! Huh, but why were we deposited in the middle of nowhere?”

A series of long shadows fell over them when another party approached. “Forgive me,” said an imperious voice. “But Equestria's magic has fallen out of sync. I fear that extends to the nexus which links worlds.” With a shattered horn and a scar over one eye, Tempest Shadow remained as intimidating as ever despite her attempts to soften herself.

Sunny smiled and fumbled a bow. “Uh, hello there. You must be Tempest Shadow? And this is-?”

Sonata's eyes boggled. “Flash Magnus?!” Her face burned and her hooves shook.

Flash Sentry cocked an eyebrow. “You two know each other?”

“Of sorts,” said Magnus in a stoic manner. “It's ancient history now.”

Sunny's lip curled further. “Heh, I sense a history here.” Magnus tried to appear neutral but the attraction shared between he and Sonata's eyes was obvious. They were subtly trying to check one-another out even now on the sly.

“We can catch up later,” said Tempest curtly. “Isn't that so, Princess?”

The Twilight Sparkle of Equestria waltzed forward to welcome them. “Please excuse my bodyguards, they care about all these formalities!” She raised a forehoof to her mouth and tittered. She wore a tiara on her temple and a dress flowed behind her. “Of course, I do wish to do things, ahem, 'by-the-book', but I've found that sometimes has it's limitations!”

Behind her were this world's counterpart to Flash Sentry, who wore a helmet like Magnus and carried a spear, and also Spike who stood tall and slender, leather wings upon his back and his thin body lined with lithe muscles below his scales. “We tracked you here,” explained Twilight. “There was a spike of magical energy in the area, and we raced to see what was amiss. You see, there's been a lot of odd phenomena across Equestria lately. We suspect it's connected to what happened in your world.”

Gathered in a circle at the insistence of the Princess, she teleported the lot of them away to the Castle of Friendship.

Once the guests settled into the Castle of Friendship, the soul jars were taken away for study, in the hopes the greatest mages in Equestria would finally be able to unlock them. They'd even called in this world's equivalent of Somnambula, since her human counterpart, while corrupted by dark magic, had used these infernal devices to make people into her mindless slaves.

Laid out on a crystal-carved table, the urns were studied by high-ranked magicians from all over, including Starswirl the Bearded, Starlight Glimmer, Celestia, Luna, while even Sunburst and Zecora were permitted to attend due to their extensive knowledge. Somnambula rolled them between her forehooves, somehow feeling responsible for what her counterpart had done.

They poured over the relics, studied the hieroglyphics which lined them, turned them over in their hooves. Pretty soon they had been passed around the entire room. Flashes enveloped the area when some of the unicorns cast a series of spells that were supposed to dispel enchantments, and eventually a number worked in unison to enhance the potency, but they proved virtually indestructible even when a few turned to brute force out of sheer frustration. A deflected fireball was barely evaded and scorched a blackened wall, embers dancing in the smokey air as an acrid stench filled the atmosphere.

While in the meeting room Princess Twilight Sparkle smiled at her double as both sets of Element Bearers sat around the table. The interior shimmered, catching dots of sunlight which streamed in from the windows. She'd dismissed her entourage, admittedly not caring much for the stuffy formality which now often surrounded her. “It's been a while!”

The other Twilight adjusted her glasses. “Yes, it has. I hoped this would be a chance to relax, but I see a crisis is brewing.”

“Even with all our forces we'll be spread thin,” the Princess explained. “Can we count on your help?”

“Believe it,” said both Rainbow Dashes in unison.

“This is mighty confusin',” noted one of the Applejacks. “But I'm in, too.”

“Of course we'll help,” said Rarity who shared a smile when she and her double looked to one-another.

“Um...well, I suppose I have no choice,” said Fluttershy meekly.

“You know my answer,” chirped Pinkie who mimicked her doppleganger as they bounced in their seats.

“Probably best we split into teams,” said the formerly human AJ. “But do we have any powers here?”

Rarity nodded and rose. “Feast your eyes on this.” She focused and a series of purple markings appeared all over her physique. “See? Our geodes have apparently bonded with us here, too. Allow me to demonstrate.” She created a gem-like construct which hovered before them, a hollow diamond which shined with a brilliant illumination. “Not much so far, I'll admit, but-”

“Whoa,” cried Dash who similarly lit up with markings that were a rainbow hue. She and her Equestrian double took flight, but the enhanced speed it granted her wasn't quite up to par when they zipped about. “Hey! What gives?”

“Obviously we'll need to master 'em,” said AJ who was swathed in bright yellow marks. She twirled a lasso about, hopping through the loop. “Granted my powers aint fancy like ya'lls, but they'll get the job done I reckon'!”

“I'll help with that,” teased the Dash of Equestria to her double.

“Just you wait! I'll be on your level in no time!” The formerly human Rainbow hoped it wasn't a mere boast. She couldn't stand the idea of being left behind, especially when her friends were taking to their powers so easily.

“Now, now, Rainbow Dash.” One of the Fluttershy's patted her shoulder. “You'll be even cooler once you catch up!”

“I'd better be,” said Dash who looked at her other self who she now considered a friendly rival.

Princess Twilight looked between them all. “Why don't you all settle in, have a look around Ponyville? We can continue our business later. For now, I think it's better if you all feel welcomed, since you'll probably be here for quite a while.”

*****

Unable to shake the feeling that she didn't fit in here, Sunny sneaked away and hid at the back of the castle. Her forehoof shook, wishing she had a cigarette to take her mind off things. “It's a dirty habit,” she reminded herself with a forced chuckle. Ponyville certainly seemed like a nice, peaceful place, almost saccharine in its boundless cuteness.

“Room for one more?” Flash clumsily landed next to her.

“Make that two!” Sonata skipped over to them. “Hey, why are you sticking to the shadows like the only chick who wasn't asked out to the prom? Why so glum?” She smacked her on the rump hard, forcing a big smile out of her.

“Sorry. Lot on my mind. Now I know how Sunset felt all the time.” She sighed. “I hoped this would be a chance to escape for a while. Instead it looks like more drama.” She looked skyward, the sun blazing over the humble little town in the distance.

“Hey, we're with you.” Flash wrapped a wing around her.

“Yeah, I know. Sorry.” She slowly drank in his new form. “By the way, you look rather sexy like this. What a nice, toned ass.”

Sonata licked her chops as his cheeks burned. “Uh-huh, scrumptious!”

Sunny's body heat radiated when she pressed next to him with a shapely hip. “Want to do it?”

He balked. “H-here? Out in the open?”

“Sure, why not? We're animals now, why not act like them? I can't wait to try out this new body, let-alone yours.” Somehow it didn't seem odd to her at all that she suddenly found stallions and mares attractive once she crossed over.

He watched her lower herself to be mounted, her flame-like tail flicked aside. “Uh, what if we're caught?”

Sunny heaved her shoulders. “Let them. Maybe I'll even invite them in if they're cute.” She winked with that lazy smirk that drove him wild. Carefully settling his weight atop her, he instinctively bit the nape of her neck, and she moaned and pushed her posterior higher in submission. His stallionhood escaped its sheathe and drooped upon her asscrack, its flared tip wet.

Gently he pressed into her, spreading folds swollen and moist wide, sinking deeper into her past the medial ring. She closed her eyes and whined without shame, accepting him balls deep into her, until his tip pressed upon her cervix entrance. She winked around him, matting her thighs with her lubrication, while Sonata watched with pants and rubbed her marehood in circles.

He moved slowly and somewhat clumsily. No longer was he the self-styled 'cool guy' Sunset had helped mold him into, but that awkward and shy boy again, fumbling as he tried to please a thankfully forgiving and easy-to-please lover. She whinnied when he released his hold on her neck, tugging on her mane with a hoof while she whinnied, his other forehoof patting her bottom.

Unable to sit idle any longer, Sonata sidled up with a wiggle of her hips. She spread Sunny's buns with her hooves, exposing her ringed ponut, tracing it hungrily with her tongue. Hearing the unicorn whimper in appreciation, she wormed her tongue far as she could inside, licking her asshole out while he continued to rut her with bucks of his muscular hips which increased in speed.

Sonata swung a hindleg over Sunny, straddling her for a better angle, sandwiching herself between her and the pegasus. She lowered her twat onto the unicorn's horn, the spine sinking into her slit, which dripped atop Sunny's head and smeared her mane and face in her love juices. He reached over, groping one of Dusk's buttocks with a hoof, while the other continue to fondle Sunny's spanked asscheek. Sunny writhed in pleasure, constricting around his length while she started to water the grass with her squirts. Groans escaped between his clenched teeth, his veiny cock throbbing towards sweet release.

“I'm-I'm about to-”

“Don't pull out.” It was almost a demand. “I want to be bred properly!”

Their mating instincts were almost overwhelming them all now, as they were unused to their new physiology, and with a final howl he let loose. Spurt-after-spurt filled up her womb with sticky cream, pushing her over the edge anew, helped by Sonata's own climax at the sight before her causing her pussy to squeeze around the horn embedded within her. His wings fluttered as he emptied himself into her, until she squeezed out the last droplet. They huffed, lathered in a thin sheen of perspiration.

His sleepy eyes matched theirs. “Did I-”

“No worries. Sunset said contraceptive potions are easy to come by. Just take a swig within a few days and no harm, no foal.”

He wiped his brow, not ready to become a father so young, if ever. Sunny pulled free of him with a pop, still leaking with a mixture of their emissions, which Sonata started to lap clean in a sensuous manner. She laid back to let the siren-turned-earth pony work, while he sat on his haunches and watched, a dopey smile born of bliss plastered upon his snout.

“Hey Flashy,” called Sonata with half-lidded eyes. “Come closer.”

Doing as she asked, she took his still half-erect cock into her maw, cleaning it with gentle bobs of her head. He shuddered while she licked him clean, rolling her tongue around his circumference. A siren was naturally wired to be sexually submissive towards males, and unlike her sisters, she'd embraced this aspect of her nature with enthusiasm.

However in this new form that aspect appeared to be considerably lessened. Not that she held back, determined to please him, and his veiny meat throbbed after repeated strokes, jizzing a little into her mouth. She lapped up the salty goodness with smacks.

He stroked her ponytail. “We...we should get back, before we're missed.”

“Eh, okay.” Sonata licked her lips clean and swallowed hard. “Let's check on the soul jars!”

“Suppose we should,” said Sunny who who rubbed her smeared face with a forehoof and slurped down the mess. “I could get used to this place.” Taking a moment to make certain they looked presentable, the trio headed back inside.

*****

A few hours passed while the mages tried to discern the secrets of the soul jars. It was Somnambula who suddenly perked up when she was hit by an epiphany, reading the writings in their ancient language. “I have an idea. The mere recital of the words are not enough. These are a prayer to a pharaoh, meant to be sung in the hope he will grant mercy and forgiveness.”

Tempest and the rest of Twilight's restless entourage entered. “But will it work? Whoever placed this curse must be long dead, and isn't even from Equestria! Well, I suppose it's worth a shot.” She hovered near a shelf lined in dusty old tomes.

“The prayer must come from the heart to be effective,” said Somnambula who placed a forehoof over her bosom. “Of course, I do feel some responsibility for what my other self did, even if she was possessed by the darkness, and must attempt to make amends.” Nopony else here understood the words and it would take time to teach them. She would have to attempt it alone.

“We're here,” called Flash Sentry when he trotted into the room and waved to his Equestrian double.

“Please let this work,” prayed Sonata who could almost feel the presence of her entombed sisters.

“I have an idea,” said Sunny. She touched Somnambula, peering into her mind and spirit, which enabled her to quickly understand the chant she intended to sing. Her eyes turned white as the knowledge sunk in. “How about a duet? Adagio, Aria, and Inky are my friends, too. Maybe if I add my own prayers it'll help soften the heart of this pharaoh?”

She took Somnambula's forehoof and squeezed it. Reading the hieroglyphics, they sang as one, a gentle and sensuous melody which echoed throughout the interior. They were moved to tears by the alien hymn, as were the onlookers, who felt like they had fallen into a trance. The symbols carved into the soul jars began to glow as their words seemed to communicate with the pharaoh. The urns slowly began to shake, small cracks suddenly appearing, audible as they spread throughout their surfaces.

“It's working,” breathed Tempest wide-eyed in shock.

Sonata tearfully smiled. “Adagio, Aria, I'll see you soon!”

“Wait,” warned Starswirl who readied some flasks. “If we aren't able to capture their released spirits, they may ascend to the afterlife. And with the terrible sins Adagio and Aria have committed, it's likely they'll be cast into the depths of Tartarus!”

“No! We can't let that happen!” Sonata raced forward. “They tried so hard to be better!”

The jars shattered. Shards erupted everywhere like shrapnel, and Tempest raised an invisible barrier, which the fragments harmlessly pinged off of. A trio of spheres which matched the respective color schemes of their former holders shot upwards. Starswirl dove to catch them, and they swerved out of the way, slipping into the walls in a b link. “Damnation!”

“Seems they have a mind of their own,” observed Flash.

Sunny and Somnambula stopped their chant. “Most likely the three act on instinct,” the latter said. “They will likely be drawn to places important to them in their former life. But since Inky is not from Equestria, she will likely seek a place of comfort that reminds her of home. Sonata, have you any idea where Adagio and Aria would likely return to?”

“Somewhere in the ocean. It's what I'd do,” admitted Sonata who wiped her eyes of ambivalent tears.

Sunny wrapped a foreleg around her. “How about we form a pair of teams to seek them out? I'll chat with our friends, see if they're up for another adventure. I'm sure you all will be busy with those weird portals that are manifesting all over?”

“Indeed.” Somnambula smiled. “Good luck and be blessed.” Grumbles escaped Starswirl while he cleaned up the books that had toppled from a shelf. Several of the others helped him tidy up.

“Watch out for that one,” warned Flash Magnus who nodded sideways at the former siren.

Sonata skipped up to him. “Aw, did you miss me?” She nuzzled his armored breast and he recoiled.

Sunny chuckled. “I smell a story here. Juicy, at that.”

“You see, old Magnus here was sent to hunt down me and my sisters, but I lured him away and-”

“It was a mistake. A moment of weakness.” He appeared suitably shamed. “I see she's still untamed.”

Sonata tossed back her ponytail. “Ooh, would you like to tame me?”

“She's cool,” said Sunny. “Just needs somepony to keep her on the straight-and-narrow.” Unlike her more ambitious sisters she was a natural follower. Playful and seemingly innocent, but selfish and thoughtless towards anyone she didn't consider close to her. “Hey, it's nothing to be embarrassed about. Everyone knows the legends about how seductive the sirens were, right?”

He turned away to save face. He tended to spend a lot of his time near the Flash Sentry of Equestria she'd noticed, but rather than ask him what the deal was directly, she ventured over to the pegasus. “Hey there. I'm the Sunset Shimmer of the other world, but they call me Sunny for short. Less confusing.” She offered a forehoof with half-lidded eyes and a wry smile.

“Heh, Flash Sentry at your service.” Unlike his counterpart he stood boldly and had a cocky smile plastered on his snout. He took her hoof, and she allowed her mane to fall over her face, hiding her eyes as they turned white and she peered into him. She told herself she shouldn't use her powers like this, but it couldn't do any harm, could it? She simply had to know the truth.

She saw snippets of what Flash Magnus shared with him. A one-night stand with Sonata who'd lured the proud warrior away and almost drowned him after they'd mated. And more interestingly a connection between the two which they'd kept hidden; Sentry was directly descended from his bloodline. The records were lost, but the two had sensed it intuitively upon meeting.

She withdrew her touch, barely able to meet his eyes. “I'm the worst,” she mumbled almost inaudibly, ashamed she'd decided to pry. “Well, nice to meet you.” She sashayed her hips when she strutted away as an apology, his reputation as a playpony notorious among mares. Nothing like the gentleman she'd formed a bond with after she'd inherited Sunset's life.

He swatted her rump with a wing. She shot him a bemused look over her shoulder, a red mark left on her plush buttcheek. She shrugged it off with a laugh. Not that she really minded, but she hoped her Flash wouldn't mind. Well, it wasn't like he didn't get lots of action between her and Sonata! Jealousy would only get in the way of their fun, so she tried to avoid such complications.

More pressing were the fates of Adagio, Aria, and Inky, not to mention these mysterious portals which would appear across Equestria then vanish just as swiftly. Were they merely some magic that spiraled out of control, or was their some form of intelligence controlling them? Could they somehow be connected to the one Tirek and Sombra had opened to a hellish dimension in her world? And if so could she possibly use one of them to potentially track down Sunset Shimmer?

Stroking her wavy mane, she considered all the possibilities, her heart heavy with foreboding.

In their downtime the human six decided to explore Ponyville like Princess Twilight suggested. From here it seemed like another peaceful day, the populace unaware as to the portals which manifested all over Equestria, then vanished just as quickly and mysteriously. Fluttershy trotted alongside her Equestrian counterpart, following her all the way to a cottage tucked outside.

Surrounded by a dense forest, a path of stones had been set, marking a trail beset by thickets. “It's almost a little spooky,” she said taking tentative steps towards the entrance. “Um, do you really live here?”

“Yes,” replied Equestrian Shy. “But not by myself. Tree Hugger, are you there? I'm home!”

A treetop rustled. “Hey babe.” Tree Hugger hopped down with a basket filled with multicolored berries. Juices were smeared across her lips which she pulled into a crooked smile. “Hey, is it my birthday? Wasn't expecting two of the sexiest pony ever...”

“Tree Hugger, meet Fluttershy. She comes from that parallel world of humans.” They shook forehooves. “Welcome to our humble little abode! Thankfully, Discord is out at the moment, so we should have some peace.” She led them inside.

They settled into the living room. Fluttershy decided to play hostess, putting on an apron and whipping up some tea, which she placed in dainty cups with floral patterns. Tree Hugger couldn't stop staring at the newcomer while he marefriend was away brewing a pot. “So...” She laid a hoof atop hers across the short table. “Like, anything I can do to help you relax?”

“Um...well...” Her cheeks colored. “Maybe stop touching me? If that's okay.”

“Ah, sorry.” She reluctantly withdrew. There was a moment of awkward silence. “I don't mean to pry, but I'm sensing some really intense vibes from you, you know? Like you could really use a massage or something to ease that tension.”

“No, I'm fine, really.” She stared down at her hooves, seated upon a chair. Her Tree Hugger had told her to get out there and experiment a bit. Was it simply a jest or a serious suggestion? She'd often taken the easy way out, stuck with whatever was comfortable, and she'd settled on the first safe bet who'd flirted with her, used to the wolf whistles and jeers from boys.

She'd always been self-conscious of her voluptuous form, particularly her ample breasts. Guys often treated her like meat and girls could be jealous and resentful. Both sexes would often assume she was just some bimbo. She'd repressed her anger towards them, seeking solace with her animals who never judged her. She felt safe and comfortable with her Tree Hugger.

“You're with me and that other world too, huh? I recognize that earthy perfume.” She sniffed the air. “If I were me, I wouldn't want to hold you back. Like, I'd want my marefriend to sow her wild oats, experience the world, see if we're truly that compatible. I don't want to treat my Shy like a possession, even if I know she'd never cheat on me.”

Fluttershy sensed her words were true. But was she really prepared to cross that line? Would she be able to go back? Maybe that was part of the test? Luckily her reverie was interrupted when her double poured steamy tea into their cups.

“I see you two have gotten well acquainted,” said Equestrian Fluttershy who settled next to her lover.

“We've chatted a little,” said Tree in a sly manner. “So...room for one more?”

“I'm not sure our guest would like that,” she whispered looking at her double who squirmed awkwardly in her seat.

“W-well...” Fluttershy's mane fell over her face, feeling rather pressured. “I...am...a teeny-bit...curious...?”

Tree Hugger took her forehoof. “See babe? She's totally down.” She got a sense of her vibes, realizing she wanted this more than either of them, but was afraid to admit it aloud. But how to help her crawl out of her shell? “Should we tell her?”

“No! I mean...” In truth Flutters was mostly with Tree to hide who she was secretly with.

Fluttershy quirked a brow, overwhelmed by curiosity, but decided it was impolite to pry. Maybe the truth would come out when they were ready. For now, she had to be patient. It would take sometime before she adjusted to this world.

Markings shimmered across the formerly human Rainbow Dash's aerodynamic form when she strained to keep up with her double. The pair whirled about in circles, a multitude of colorful blurs left behind them. She immediately pushed herself to the limit, soaked in sweat and huffing, determined to catch up despite the obvious difference in their current abilities.

At least she was making progress, albeit painfully slow for her taste. “Got to learn to walk before you learn to fly, I guess.” She was still somewhat clumsy on her hooves. “Start with the basics.” She landed and stretched out, cat-like.

“What's the matter, slowpoke?” Equestrian Dash lazed of a fluffy cloud. No doubt it was simply tough love, but the taunts still stung a tad, pushing her to try even harder. “I've seen Fluttershy make faster circles than that!”

“Yeah, probably when she was scared out of her wits. So...” She decided to switch subjects while she recovered. “What's your love-life like? I sometimes fool around with Pinkie, but nothing serious. However, I kind of have a thing with Trixie going...”

“Trixie?!” She balked. “Ugh. Well, somepony cool as me can't afford to be tied down by one partner. I have a few side dishes. Gilda, Spitfire, Soarin, Celaeno.... Don't recognize all those names? Well, I'll show you a picture later.”

“Not sure I wanna know...” She sighed, once again feeling inferior to her other self. But it wasn't like her to wallow in self-pity. No, she'd simply have to become better! “Hey, Applejack, Pinkie Pie!” She waved the foursome over. “Wanna help us train?”

“Sure, why not?” One of the Applejack's raced up.”

She looked to the Equestrian AJ. “You with anypony here?”

“Well shucks, I don't like to talk about my love-life much.” She removed her stetson and squeezed it. “I...I'm in a relationship with Rara...Coloratura. Famous singer here, not sure she exists in your world? Foalhood friend of mine.”

“Sounds nifty,” said Dash.

“Yeah, she's wonderful.” AJ pulled a photo hidden in her hat which showed the pair in a casual embrace. “How 'bout you?”

The once human AJ swallowed hard. “Well, ya see...I'm with my own Rara...Rarity, that is.”

“Really? But we've got nothin' in common!”

“Nonsense. We're both hard-workin' and have wonderful little sisters. And, well, I reckon that's enough!” She proclaimed it with finality and turned back to her own practice session, just as stubborn as her Equestrian self.

*****

The once human Rarity was shown around the Carousel Boutique by her twin. Trying to mimic her telekinesis, she formed constructs under the costumes, lifting them and helped tuck them onto racks. She shimmered even brighter than the lit up horn, her geode tattoos glimmering all over her physique, making her even more lovely in an exotic sort of way.

“So, darling...how are you enjoying your stay in Ponyville? I know it hasn't been long, but I do hope it's been accommodating.”

“Oh yes. It's very quaint.” She'd taken to her powers quickly, choosing to focus on creating small objects at first, which made her strain a little as she concentrated. “I do not mean to pry, but may I ask a personal question?”

“Of course, dearie.” She placed another row of silken dresses.

“I'll start, then.” She cleared her throat. “In my world, I'm currently courting Applejack. It's not something we originally intended. We simply...posed for a magazine together, one which required us to be a little touch-feely at times, and discovered we liked one-another's company in another way. Poor AJ was terrified her family would disown her if the truth ever came out.”

“I see. Applejack is certainly a fine choice. Don't tell her I said so, though. I'm in a relationship with a number of creatures,” she explained unable to think up a better word. “Spike, Thorax, and Ember. Strictly for political reasons, of course!” She quickly added and stifled a nervous titter. “I'm honestly too busy to have much of a love-life, unfortunately.”

“That's a shame. The Spike of my world is unfortunately a mere mutt. Granted, for a time he was a werewolf of sorts...”

The pair continued to chat while they worked, watching both Dashes race outside the window in a storm of colors, while the Applejacks were swinging and weaving between the hoops of lassos. The once human Rarity admired the freckled cowponies, who'd worked up a sweat all over their soft but well-muscled physiques, almost forgetting the brewing crisis.

*****

Fluttershy wasn't certain how it had started, but before she knew it she was in her Equestrian twin's bedroom making a sweet sandwich with her and Tree Hugger in the middle. She realized it was likely down to her new physiology; animal instincts overriding all common sense. All the hormones had hit her at once the moment they started to seduce her.

Not that she would've needed much encouragement regardless. She knew her Tree wouldn't mind; that was simply her excuse to not test the waters. In truth she was intimidated by the duo. But somehow that also acted as a spice which entranced her.

They had formed a daisy chain, her snout buried deep in Tree's snatch, who in turn ate her double out, that Fluttershy busy eating her own ass and pussy in a sloppy manner. The covers were soaked from the mess they were making. Their musk filled the air. Normally she would've had to work up to something so intense, but it was all coming naturally to her.

Unlike her tender licks the lovers were eagerly muzzle-fucking away, obviously used to this. Spatters of pussy juice flew in fleck about them, soaking their matted maws. It was completely unlike the gentle lovemaking she usually indulged in with her Hugs.

“Hey there,” chirped Pinkie when she and her other self popped up from seemingly nowhere. “Can we join in, too?!”

She screamed, jumped up, and slammed her head into the ceiling, nearly knocking herself senseless. “Pinkie!” Both Flutters cried in unison, her more out of bewilderment, while her Equestrian double narrowed her eyes.

“Oops, sorry! Guess the proverbial cat's out of the bag, huh?” Pinkie beamed wide.

She looked between them and realization dawned. Somehow, improbable as it seemed, this Flutters and Pinkie had fallen into a relationship, one which they kept on the downlow. Perhaps her coupling with Tree was partially to held keep that a secret.

“Let me guess,” said Equestrian Fluttershy. “You two have been busy pranking Ponyville.”

“Maybe~” Both Pies practically hummed the word. “We're a natural team!”

“Sometimes I think even one Pinkie Pie is totally too many,” teased Hugs. “Well, the mood's broken.”

“I, um, had fun anyhow.” She turned her head aside, her face stained pinker than her mane. However, like she suspected her feelings for her Tree Hugger hadn't changed a whit. If they didn't have their own responsibilities back in their world, they would've taken their closest pals with them. Nevertheless, someone had to watch over their responsibilities while they were away.

*****

Sunny chewed on a surprisingly tasty daisy. It was no replacement for a cigarette, but she smacked her lips anyhow, savoring the sweet taste. She'd wandered about aimlessly, idly chatting with her Flash Sentry and Sonata, thoughts focused on al souls that had escaped. Well, it wasn't like there was anything she could do at the moment. So why couldn't she relax?

“I can't stand that guy,” said Flash who clenched his teeth. “I'm nothing like him!”

“Yo, chill out. So what if this Flash is a total womanizer? Marizer? Anyhow, point is maybe you're more alike than you think?” He frowned at her. “What I mean is, you're both really into girls, which is totally natural.”

“Yeah, but I don't hit on every cutie I see. Or toss them aside.” He kicked a dirt pile.

“Yeah, you're nice like that. Sometimes I think I'm more like this Flash...just a selfish bitch...maybe that's why I'm trying to see the best in him...” She stared wistfully into the distance, once again feeling like an off-brand version of the 'real' Sunset.

Flash stared at the slap marks from feathers imprinted in red marks on a buttcheek. “Least he has good taste.”

Sonata hung back a bit. While she doubted anypony would recognize a legendary siren who'd been banished so long ago, she certainly wouldn't prove popular if the truth were known. For once she felt like the most competent pony in the room, at least in her group, easily taking to her new form and skipping about while singing. “Equestria sure has changed! Back when the sirens ran wild, most of the land was totes untamed! For sure, it was a different time...” She closed her eyes and smiled.

“Certainly a stranger one, from what I've heard.” Sunny picked more flowers scattered about. She tucked a bunch away in her saddlebags to snack on later, hoping this wouldn't be considered theft. It sure was a weird place, she decided.

The once human Twilight rushed their way, her mane still styled in a bun, her glasses almost slipping off her snout. “I think the Princess has come up with something. I figured I'd check in with you first, since the others are probably still busy.”

“Good call. They could use a rest.” Sunny trotted up next to her. She wasn't entirely certain how she felt about her; after all she and Sunset had been in a relationship and fallen out of it pretty hard. She'd been cordial but distant, almost like every time she looked at her, it was a painful reminder of what had happened. Well, she could hardly blame her.

Pretty soon the foursome arrived back in the meeting room. What appeared to be a three-dimensional map of Equestria arose from the table and cast a pall over them. A portion in particular glowed somewhere in the middle of the ocean, where there was apparently a powerful spark of unusual magic. “Hey,” cried Sonata. “I recognize that place!”

Princess Twilight nodded. “I've studied the history books well. The sirens sunk quite a number of ships in the area.”

“Y-yeah,” whispered Sonata who looked like a spoiled mischievous foal who'd been caught stealing from the cookie jar.

“Don't worry,” said Twilight in a tender manner as she smiled. “We believe in second chances here.” She pointed to another section. “I think we've found up where Inky Rose ended up, too. It isn't pretty.” She pointed to an entrance to Tartarus.

Sunny pursed her lips. “Why? No offense, but her crimes are small fry compared to what the Dazzlings have done. Heck, she isn't even from Equestria, so why should she be judged so harshly?”

“Relax. It's probably some sort of mistake.” Princess Twilight rubbed her chin. “Or worse...somepony or something captured her soul and dragged it down to the underworld. We'll have to send a team to investigate.”

“Huh. Well, you all probably have to look after Ponyville.” Sunny plucked a flower from her bag and shoved it into her mouth. “Even with the Pillars to help out. My friends and I will split up and look into it, okay? Don't worry, we'll keep in touch if we get over our heads!” She was worried about the lost souls, particularly Inky, but this was their responsibility, wasn't it?

The day wore on as the human six continued to spend time with their counterparts and slowly work to master their newfound abilities. While they were well-versed by now in their humanized forms, it took quite a bit of practice before most of them started to adjust to their pony shapes. Fluttershy took to her powers rather swiftly, the runes shimmering over her as she called groups of critters from all over Ponyville. Gathered around her, she stroked them and hummed in delight. “This place is wonderful!”

“It is, isn't it?” Her Equestrian double smiled back, surrounded by her own menagerie of wildlife. “Oh, I do hope Pinkie didn't put you off.” Her voice lowered to a conspiratorial whisper. “She kept hitting on me, and eventually I said why not?”

Hearing her name, pony Pinkie popped up between them. “Told you I could make your life more exciting!”

The other Pinkie played hopfrog over her, alight with glowing markings. “Whee,” she cried tossing up confetti which popped like fireworks as she worked her mojo. An acrid smell lingered from the tiny explosions, more akin to weak fireworks.

The pair of Rainbow Dashes were still making circles around town, stopping to kick away clouds which vanished in white puffs, the formerly human one's tattoos shining as she slowly started to catch up with her double who decided to take it a little easier.

And below them Equestrian Applejack did tricks with her lasso, while once-human AJ dove between the loops. Pretty soon the pair of Rarities exited Carousel Boutique and came to watch. “Magnificent, aren't they darling?”

“Indeed. I'm relieved they're finally taking to their abilities like ducks to water,” the once human Rarity noted. “A shame you cannot join us, but perhaps it's best if you stay here and help the Pillars protect the area?”

“Yes, not to mention my own business. I cannot leave everything to Coco and Sassy! Mmm, not to mention Sweetie Belle might rifle through my room while I'm away...” She stared fretfully at her forehooves. “I'm grateful we were able to meet.”

“Not to worry. We'll visit again soon, I'm certain. We could be in Equestria for a few months, even?” She hoped their friends could hold down all their responsibilities back home. “Thank you for welcoming us.”

“Of course! I'd like you to do the same should we ever come to your world.”

Twilight trotted their way, balancing the glasses on her snout tip. Her double had told her she likely had the potential to cast all the same spells she did, but they would take lots of time and practice to learn, and so she'd focused mostly on what she was already comfortable with; basic telekinesis. “Hey, everyone, er, I mean everypony! Can I have your attention?”

Her friends collected around her, both Dashes hovering in place with beating wings. “Thank you.” She cleared her throat. “Anyhow, Princess Twilight's discovered where the lost souls went. Unfortunately Adagio and Aria went to one area, while Inky was pulled down to Tartarus, so we'll have to split up to tackle this problem.”

The Equestrian Rainbow cocked an eyebrow. “You sure we shouldn't team up?”

“I'd rather not take you away from here if it isn't necessary,” explained Twilight. “Plus, the Princess said I was free to borrow some of her entourage. Not to mention we'll have Sunny, Flash, and Sonata with us. I think we'll be fine!”

“Dangerous words sugarcube,” said the once human Applejack.. “Hope ya don't regret 'em.”

*****

A pirate ship sailed across the seas, its flag billowing in the wind as Sunny peered over the side of the swaying boat, her face discolored as she felt like her stomach contents were about to be loosed. “Wonder if Sunset got seasick too...”

The waves rolled below, splashing against the weathered sides, the scent of salt carried by the breeze while gulls cried above. A small crew ran the vessel, captained by Celaeno, who was at the wheel, taking short glances at the map and a compass as she steered, making certain they stayed the course.

"Kinda surprised you've got a ship like this." Sonata stated as she inhaled deeply, enjoying the salty air. "RD told me you guys were sky Pirates."

"Technically we are…" Celaeno replied. "...but sometimes it pays to have more than one means of transport, the winds of the sea can get mighty treacherous, so air travel isn't the best option of the moment...."

Seeing her point, Sonata nodded and went back to exploring the ship.

Meanwhile, the once human Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack had decided to play pirate, joining Sunny's group on their quest to locate the missing souls of the Dazzlings. At the moment those who weren't busy involved themselves in a casual game of cards, not that it didn't stop Pinkie and Rainbow from teaming up to cheat. Poor Applejack proved that no incarnation of her had any poker face.

At the bow Sonata stood at the tip, studying the figurehead of a siren at the front. “Good likeness! Wonder if she's based on a real ancestor?” She shivered in anticipation, ready to track down Adagio and Aria. She hadn't planned beyond that.

“Careful Sonata,” called Sunny. “Remember, you're an earth pony now. We don't need a mare overboard!”

“Yes, mother!” Sonata rolled her eyes. “How you holding up, Flash?”

“Fine,” he replied more curtly than intended. He and his Equestrian counterpart flew beside the ship helping keep a lookout. The Princess had insisted some of her entourage came along, and Equestria's Flash Sentry alongside Flash Magnus had volunteered. They'd wanted a chance to get to know him better, but so far he'd done his best to interact with them as little as possible.

“Hey bro,” said the other Sentry. “She's cute, isn't she?” He joined him in staring at Sunny.

“Touch her and I'll...” He sucked in a breath, trying to calm down. “Let's just say it won't be pretty.” Was he more afraid his double would break Sunny's heart if he decided to move in? Or that maybe he'd be able to charm her away? No, she wasn't like that! Besides, it's not like she was the jealous type, allowing him to sleep with Sonata, too. Was he being an unfair hypocrite?

“Come on, let's be friends!” He was garbed in shiny, golden armor which reflected glints of sunlight. “Why do you dislike me so much? We've hardly even met, yet you've been given me and Magnus the cold shoulder this whole time!”

“It's...I don't like how you treat mares. Like they're nothing but pieces of meat to you!”

“Ouch. That's never been my intention. I have broken a few hearts in my time, I'll admit, but most of the mares I've been with were out for the same sort of fun I am. Granted, I really screwed up with Nurse Redheart...” He winced at that bitter memory. “I don't like going into detail on that… but it was one heck of a wake up call… I'm just glad cleaned up my act before I met Twilight... mostly anyway.”

For a moment neither spoke. They watched the ocean stir, Rainbow swooping about alongside Flash Magnus.

Heading further into the Sparkling Seas, the skies started to darken. Celaeno called, “A storm's brewing! Prepare yourselves!” Gray clouds swirled and the wind started to howl. Lightning crackled and thunder boomed. A tidal wave suddenly struck the ship, nearly capsizing it. “Below deck, everyone! Move!” She shouted while the ship violently rocked about.

"Yikes!” Sonata yelped as she teetered on the edge and toppled into the ocean.

Sunny's eyes went wide. “Pony overboard!” She peered over the side, searching the darkness below.

Magnus, Rainbow, and both Sentries formed a search party, diving about the area where she'd been lost. At the same time Applejack prepared her lasso, while Pinkie lifted up a lifesaver, everypony looking desperately for their lost comrade.

The surface broke. Sonata's ponytail had fallen loose when she popped up, playfully lifting her snout and spitting out a stream of seawater. She cheerily laughed and shook her face, flecks of water tossed about. “Don't worry, I'm fine! Look!” She leapt into the air like a dolphin, revealing she'd turned into a seapony. “Just add water!” She winked and wiggled fins on her hooves.

“You jerk...” Sunny chuckled with her, nibbling on a daisy to calm her nerves.

Sonata swam ahead and waved. “Come on, follow me! I know exactly where they'd go!” Fearlessly she raced ahead despite the weather, until the graveyard of wrecked ships came into view. Entire fleets that had been sunk by the Dazzlings when they waged war on Equestria, Adagio determined to take revenge on all the males who'd taken advantage of their kind.

But she also blamed the females who stood by their enemies, Celestia and Luna for denying her plan to control all males, pretty soon they were at odds with nearly all the major races across the world. It was a time of strife that left thousands dead.

An eerie calm settled over the sector once they were in the midst of it. The winds and waters suddenly stilled. A ghostly miasma swept over them. A particularly massive vessel had drifted into the center, halfway submerged. “That's the one!” Sonata made circles near the wreckage, bugs skittering across the rotted wood. “Adagio and Aria are probably inside.”

Flash Magnus scoffed. “I smell a trap. I don't trust her, not even a little.”

“I do.” Sunny hopped onto his back. “Now, are you with us or what?” He grumbled under his breath but raced ahead.

Flash Sentry readied his spear, armor gleaming. “You ready, bro?”

The once human Flash said, “Yeah. Suppose I am.” He looked back at their friends. “Keep watch, will you?”

“No problem!” Rainbow saluted him. “Maybe I'll have a real chance to test these powers!”

“I'd rather not,” said AJ. “We need lots more practice!”

“Speak for yourself!” Pinkie skipped a shiny stone across the ocean, which then exploded into a small fiery cloud of powder.

Shaking his head, Flash followed his armored double onto the downed ship. The surface rocked with a drawn out creak, the deck slick and hole-eaten. Sonata swung below, all the way into the drowned portion. Sunny lit her horn, illuminating the darkness while she went below, thankful that such a spell was easy to learn and cast. They fanned out, scouring the ship.

Droplets fell from above. Seaweed hung suspended and draped along the water-logged floor. Suddenly a pair of glowing spheres arose from the depths, drifting up, one a bright yellow and the other a shimmering purple. Sunny made a dive for them with a flask provided by Starswirl, as did Flash Sentry, but the obs zipped out of the way and broke to the deck.

“Sisters, wait!” Sonata shook away the seawater, taking on her pony legs again and clambering back up. She climbed the bent mast with its tattered flag, hanging onto the edge as she raised a forehoof outwards. “Adagio, Aria, please!”

She barely hopped away in time when a bolt of lightning rippled out from a stray cloud, the destructive force smashing wood and sending chunks everywhere. She landed back in the ocean, taking back her seapony form.

Flash Magnus snarled at the colored spheres that whipped about. “They even betray each other!?”

“No, it wasn't them!” Sonata's eyes watered. “Look!”

A serpentine beast broke the bubbly waters. Reddish-orange, the water dragon-like creature was covered in fins. Its yellow eyes darted about, its mouth twisted into a malicious smile. It barreled towards the wreckage, the fliers scooping up the grounded ponies just in time before it crashed full-force and demolished the vessel.

Celaeno's ship closed the distance, just to the point where the cannons were in range, and she waved her cutlass, a signal to cut loose. Her crew lit the fuses, aided by Pinkie, AJ, and Rainbow, cannonballs erupting and crashing into the monster with thunderous booms. It reeled under the explosions as gunsmoke filled the air. “Next round! Don't let up, you scurvies!”

The Equestrian Sentry darted at the dragon, pricking it with stabs of his spear. “What an ugly beast!”

“I'm no mere beast,” announced the serpent. “I am Squirk, Titan of Water!”

Flash Magnus tossed a javelin at the creature's eye, only to have it swatted away by a fin. “Why does that sound familiar...?”

It rang a bell with Sonata too, and she wished she'd paid more attention to her sisters' lessons. “Celaeno, pull back!” The ship turned, still firing upon the Titan and doing surface damage as black marks covered its body. Concentrating, Squirk summoned a whirlpool right underneath the pirate ship, which started to crumple while it fought the tide, being dragged into the vortex.

“Aw, crap!” Rainbow groaned as she scooped up Pinkie. “Abandon ship!”

Celaeno caught AJ's lasso loop when she took flight and carried the cowpony. She was relieved a number of her crew could fly, who picked up the less fortunate and ferried them away. "Aw crap, there goes another one...”

Rainbow smirked. “Sooo, you and the Rainbow here-”

“Later. Got to focus on the task at claw, hoof, whatever.” A flurry of soldiers darted around Squirk to little effect. They could do little more than poke at the Titan, who's snaps came closer-and-closer, covered in tiny pinpricks from where he'd been struck.

The formerly human Flash Sentry tried to keep his distance while providing support, but he could tell it was a losing battle. “Maybe we should get out of here, seek some help! We'll need some heavy-hitters to deal with this!”

“No way,” called his counterpart. “We can't risk letting this monster run loose!” A tail suddenly swatted at them. “Look out!” Aware his double couldn't fly fast enough to evade in time, he knocked him out of the way, a crack sounding when Squirk knocked him from the air. The Equestrian Sentry was tossed about at rapid speeds and slammed with a crunch into a rock.

“No!” He rushed to his side and saw the broken body upon the stones sticking out of the sea. “Please, be okay!”

The spheres started to take shape and formed into Adagio and Aria who were little more than spectral forms. They had taken pony shapes too, the former a unicorn and the latter a pegasus, their ethereal forms swirling about. “Sisters,” whispered Sonata whose physique lit up with runes. She'd fused with Chrysalis' geode once crossing to Equestria, but had kept that a secret, in fear the others would distrust her. Now she and her sisters started to sing in harmony, a beautiful, ghostly wail.

The storms stilled. Everypony paused, entranced. Even the Titan hesitated, paralyzed by the serene music, which moved several of them to tears.

“This isn't over,” The Titan swore before diving into the Sparkling Seas with a splash and vanishing into the depths....

Flash Sentry cradled his limp twin. A forehoof wrapped around his shoulder, Sunny settled next to him, while he watched the blood leak between the pony's closed eyes. Without a way back they would have to seek out whatever land was near to buckle down. Calaeno was already at work, looking between the downed ships, hopeful that she might be able to get one up-and-running.

At the same time Adagio and Aria continued to hover around Sonata, almost like they were tethered to her. “I don't trust 'em either,” said AJ who spat into the ocean while she watched the Dazzlings. “What'll we do if they slide back into old habits?”

“We'll deal with that when it comes. If it comes,” said Sunny curtly. “I mean, I changed, didn't I? Why can't they?”

“Their crimes were a lot worse,” reminded AJ darkly. “Still, I see your point, I suppose.”

“I rigged a vessel up. Not seaworthy yet but give us a couple hours,” said Calaeno who directed them to land on a drifting hull. “Heck, given time and resources we could probably convert it into another sky ship, maybe have some pegasi or dragons help drag it along...” She was starry eyed, reminiscing about older times. She wrapped a wing around Rainbow. “You up for it, Dashie?”

“You betcha! With enough speed I could probably pull the ship by myself! And don't call me Dashie.” She borrowed a telescope. “I'll scout ahead, see if I can't find us some land! I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm starved!” She hurtled skyward and peered about. "Hey, I think I see something!"

*****

The depths of Tartarus were a shadowy dimension. An eerie drone echoed throughout a series of caverns. Within it a duo overlooked a map of Equestria. Which displayed a large number of Titans being sent through each of the portals in preparation for their attack ... and one of them making hasty retreat.

“Squirk acted too fast and on his own. The fool. Perhaps I should reduce him to his core components!” He growled in anger, slamming his hoof on the rocks below.

A female figure floated next to him with a curious look. “Why not have them all simply attack Canterlot and Ponyville at once?”

“Because I don't want to alert our enemies that the Titans are under someone's control." He started firmly. "If they attack random areas at once, they'll simply assume the monsters are rampaging blindly, and allow us to continue without risk of being found out.”

The mare beside him nodded in understanding before turning to take her leave through the nexus… only to pause when he called out to her. “And by the way… make sure to gather as many souls as possible for the ritual.”

" Of course…" She nodded. “The souls of the two sirens managed to evade me, but I at least managed to seize the third one... Inky Rose, I believe her name is… she seems to have some sort of connection to our adversaries."

"Hmm, keep a close eye on that one, it may prove useful in the long run…" He started. Once she exited the mastermind turned his attention to what appeared to be some sort of large cocoon made up of black and white flames…

"Soon… very soon you will play your part as well…"

Gales swept over the tropical island and kicked up sand clouds from the beach. Palm trees swayed and dropped a few coconuts. The barely seaworthy ship rolled to a stop and Calaeno dropped the anchor. “Land-ho!” She lowered a shaky bridge with help from her crew, puffs of dust kicking up where it touched down, and the voyagers started to file out. The storms were dying down but still continued to circle around the area, making them worry that Squeak might return at any time.

“Whoo-hoo! Good call, Dash!” Pinkie Pie hopped down with a lifesaver wrapped around her. Hermit crabs scattered away.

“I could use some grub!” Rainbow tapped on a coconut. “Maybe I can ash it with some super speed?”

“I could blow it up,” offered Pinkie with a grin.

“Let's not.” Applejack's body lit up with glowing runes and she cracked one open with her forehooves. “Mmm, tasty!”

Flash Sentry and Flash Magnus carried a rigged-up stretcher between them where the Equestrian Flash Sentry was placed. He was still unconscious, with a number of broken bones and bruises, the medics onboard insufficient to properly treat him. “He's in a bad state,” admitted Sentry who couldn't help but feel guilty his counterpart had taken a bad blow for him.

“If only teleportation was a more common skill,” said Magnus who twitched as he tried to maintain his stoic demeanor.

“I know. No way to find him the help he needs from here.” He wiped his eyes.

Sunny trailed behind them leaving hoofprints in the sand, her head and tail bowed. She knew her double could've taken care of this in a blink; but she hadn't mastered even the simplest spells despite her potential. “Should've asked Princess Twilight to come...” She pulled another daisy from her satchel and started to much it into mush. “Sonata, what about-”

“My sisters are fine!” Sonata trundled along while the spectral forms of Adagio and Aria floated beside her in their pony forms. The duo shimmered in an ethereal fashion, their features warmly lit up, but they appeared unable to communicate with her.

“Spooky...” Pinkie shivered. Wherever the ghosts tread they left a cold trail behind them.

“I still don't trust 'em,” mumbled AJ while she cracked more shells and allowed Rainbow to slurp down the contents. “Sonata never was 'purified', and as for those other two? Pair of rattlesnakes, so far as I'm concerned.”

Rainbow licked the sweetness from her chops with a slurp and burped. “Oops, sorry! Have to keep my strength up after flying around for so long! Anyhow, yeah, they do seem to have part of their powers back, but to be fair, they did use them to help!”

“Still...what if they suddenly decided to switch sides? Not like we'll be able to resist 'em!”

“We'll deal with that later.” Dash tossed an empty shell aside. “I'm more worried about Flash. Maybe I can fly him back?”

“Way too far and you know it.” AJ bowed her head, her tired face shaded by the stetson.

“Yeah...if only I could pull off that Sonic Rainboom...” Dash pursed her lips.

“This ship was only readied to take us here. We'll have to collect some materials and build a better one from this shell,” said Calaeno. “All of you, short break and then get to work! We can't dawdle here too long! Maybe we can make it airborne somehow? Curses, if only we had the proper materials...” She hovered about the beach and stared at the mountains.

Over the next couple of hours trees were stripped, pieces from other wrecked ships that had washed ashore were gathered, and Rainbow Dash kicked away rain clouds with a smirk. AJ carried a thick hunk of metal with ease. Pinkie blew open some caves and searched inside for whatever could be scavenged, convinced there was some treasure buried inside, and a few pirates traveled with her. A short time later between all of them they'd collected a pile of useful junk which they used to work on the ship. Sunny couldn't help but shake her head, feeling useless as ever. At best she could shift a few smaller items.

Clanks sounded when they started to \reconfigure and expand the would-be seaworthy vessel. “Look at what I found!” Pinkie hefted a huge treasure chest and dropped it with a thunk onto the sand. “What'cha think we'll find inside?!”

“Impossible! I Don't believe it!” AJ threw down her hat and resisted the urge to stomp it. “How in tarnation-”

“It's Pinkie, don't question it.” Sunny chuckled while the party pony blew up the lock in a small plume of smoke and threw open the lid. A number of them crowded around to study the contents which seemed to glow in the sunlight. “It's...a bunch of maps?”

Pinkie unfolded one with an x marked on it. “Look! Bet there are more chests all over!”

“Or traps.” Sunny rubbed her chin. “Could be a decoy to send the finder on a pointless chase.”

“Can't know until we try!” Pinkie immediately set off.

“Yo, it's not safe to travel alone.” Sunny tried to keep pace with her. “Sonata, want to come?”

“Totes!” She skipped along and her spectral sisters whooshed beside her.

“I have to stay and look after him,” said Flashy Sentry. “Magnus, will you-”

“Yes, I'd best keep an eye on them.” Hefting his spear he flew after the small party.

“So much for a relaxing vacation!” Sunny trundled up with them. They wound down a hillside, heading out to uncover secrets scattered across the island. She shuddered when she spotted the skeletons of a few ponies washed onto the rocks below.

Over the next hour they dug up another chest, silverfish spilling out from the water-logged contents, skittering about. The treasures within had rusted and cracked, what would have been a small fortune reduced to so much trash. Pinkie frowned, then shrugged, collecting the scrap and figuring some of it might be used as spare parts with a little tinkering.

They ferried the items back, and Calaeno had them broken down, using them to help rebuild a new vessel. It wouldn't be elegant, but she hoped it would suit their purposes, aware that efficiency was far more important than style at times like these.

Just went it seemed like everything was going smoothly, the island started to quake. The onlooker s shuddered when dust clouds were kicked up. The earth started to yawn open and a roar split the air. A tidal wave swept from the ocean, and they scattered, as Squirk once more barreled from the seas. “You can't hide from me! This time, I'll finish what I started!”

Sonata and her sisters immediately started to sing, but the sea serpent quickly shook the haunting tune off, opening his jaws and making a dive for the siren. She broke off and screamed, only for Flash Magnus to sweep her off her hooves as he raced away, jaws snapping behind them. “My hero,” she murmured with a smile laying her cheek on his powerful chest.

“Damn, what now?” Flash readied his own spear, protectively standing over his double.

From a fissure another Titan arose. This stone golem-like monstrosity towered over them, shaped like a dog of some sort, crudely carved from gray stone. “Crunch will crush you!” The earth shook when it stalked from the depths.

Squirk rounded on the beast. “You?! Don't interfere, you botched creation!”

“Traitor! Crunch destroy you for master's sake!” The monster rushed to meet his fellow Titan.

“Stop! I simply took initiative, you fool!” He was knocked over by the force of Crunch's weight, the pair rolling, Squirk twisting about its almost unbreakable shape. The spell used to create the Titan had damaged Crunch's core, reducing what was otherwise the most powerful Titan to little more than a mindless animal. Squirk proved unable to throw off its weight.

“Maybe they'll kill each other,” said Sunny while they cowered.

“Or tear us apart in the process,” said Rainbow as storms and tremors shook the island.

“Almost ready!” Calaeno tapped the ship. “Should be able to take us away, at least!”

“Wait!” Pinkie felt her curly tail shake. Is that...?” She spotted the air start to split in the distance. A bluish-white portal manifested, shimmering. “Sunset Shimmer?!” She swore she could catch a glimpse of her inside for a moment.

“Afraid not,” called a voice from within. “Hurry! I'm trying to hold it open, but someone is interfering!”

Sunny crinkled her brow. “Who are you?” The voice was feminine but didn't sound at all like her double's. “Not sure I can trust you, but...” She looked between Calaeno's shaky ship and the portal ahead of her. She figured the wounded Flash Sentry wouldn't last much longer at this rate. “Okay, I'll do it. Everypony, follow me!”

Calaeno saluted them. “Don't worry about us! We'll travel faster with a lighter load, anyhow! Look after them, Rainbow!”

The small party rushed into the portal. At the same time Calaeno's crew boarded the ship which rattled when it sailed into the skies, rotors spinning as the winds threatened to batter it about. Crunch practically snapped Squirk in two with a crunch. The serpent screamed as teeth sunk into his flesh and ripped out his shimmery core. Crunch swallowed it whole and took it into itself. The serpent's body lost its color and crumbled into dust without the sphere to animate its enchanted shape.

Crunch morphed into a more humanoid shape, the core's power added to its own. No more the simple-minded brute, orb-shaped eyes shimmered a dull emerald-yellow. “I am...one step closer to completion,” he wheezed thankful his instincts had at least driven him to seek out another core. But by the time his new shape had settled Calaeno's ship was already in the horizon, while his other prey slipped into the portal, which closed behind them. He punch the dirt, realizing he was trapped here.

In this new form he was stronger, smarter, but also slower and clumsier. Half-finished, he stomped into the tunnel he'd made, and slowly headed back to either seek out a fellow Titan or his master who'd breathed life into the Titans...

A mare with a pale blue coat and white mane lurked within the hollows of Tartarus. A labyrinthine maze of tunnels surrounded Shadow Scythe, one of the many Grim Reapers tasked with escorting souls to the afterlife. A horse skull with a scythe behind it adorned her flanks. “Somepony else who can manipulate portals? Intriguing. But she is an amateur compared to me.”

She'd forsaken her duties to serve a new master. With a forbidden form of magic he could further empower her through the souls she consumed and promised her all she could ever want; however there was a limitation to this power, as the souls needed to have been slain by an actual demon in order to be devoured. And since she'd neglected her duties she was no longer able to obtain spirits for herself. They were dependant upon the other, at least for the moment.

She'd collected a few minor devils who served as her huntresses. Some she'd sent out to seek this mysterious intruder, and they'd almost caught her, but she'd barely managed to slip away at the last second. More of them scurried down the tunnels, succubi and lamia mostly, the atmosphere heavy and oppressive. She started to toy with a grayish-black sphere; Inky Rose's soul.

“More intruders...” From here she could watch the entire netherworld from a murky pool which wafted with thin vapors. A number of ponies were descending into her realm. Normally nopony would ever dare intrude this far, in case they lost their flesh and were trapped within the mists of the unknown for eternity, but she'd knew they'd come to seek her prize.

Twilight Sparkle wiped sweat from her glasses. She couldn't help but shiver, the air simultaneously somehow way too hot and cold. Her team consisted of Rarity, Fluttershy, and the escorts Princess Twilight had offered her, Tempest Shadow and Spike. While it was a rather small party they'd been assured Tempest was one of the most powerful mages in Equestria.

“If something should prove amiss I'll teleport you all out,” assured Tempest. “But I take it you can handle yourselves.”

“W-well...we haven't gotten used to our powers here,” admitted Twilight who blushed.

“It may seem creepy, but the Grim Reapers here are supposed to be pretty chill!” Spike stood tall and wiry, his leather wings flapping behind him. “There has been some weird stuff happening lately, mind you.”

“A potential traitor.” Tempest sneered. “I shall deal with them if necessary.”

“Let's simply finish this and leave this dreadful place,” said Rarity with a swish of her mane.

Fluttershy shivered and hid behind them. “I'm with her. This place is so barren! Eek!” A shadow crawled over a wall. But whatever the creature was it hastily skittered away. A slimy trail marred the stonework.

They hurried onward, navigating the maze, tracking the source to where Inky Rose's soul was supposedly sent. She wasn't supposed to be a part of Equestria's cycle, but perhaps a Grim Reaper had mistakenly scooped it up. Eventually the group arrived where mare awaited them. “Shadow Scythe? I am Tempest Shadow, here on behalf of Princess Twilight Sparkle.”

“I know who you are. And what you've come for.” She raised a forehoof where the grayish-black orb hovered. “Tell me, what can you offer me in return? You didn't think I'd simply offer this up for free, did you?”

“So you have betrayed us.” Tempest took a step forward.

“Careful. I could swallow up her soul,” warned Shadow Scythe. It was a lie of course, as Inky hadn't been killed by a demon, but she doubted they understood her limitations. “Perhaps a trade? Would you like to take her place, Tempest?” Such a powerful unicorn would potentially multiply her potential several times over. She smiled devilishly at the idea.

“Never. I do not deal with traitors. You will release Inky Rose, or face the consequences!”

“Wrong answer.” Shadow Scythe appeared to float backwards with a cackle that echoed through the caverns. Tempest flared her horn with a prepared spell, when a menagerie of monsters suddenly spilled out from around the corners, prepared to overrun the small team. Most of these beasts were female, somewhere between mares and animals.

The portal transferred Sunny and her companions back into Ponyville. They immediately rushed Equestria's Flash Sentry to the local hospital, hopeful that he could still be saved without any lingering problems. Pretty soon the group was clustering in the hallway, waiting with bated breath for news about his current condition. Soft clops sounded in the sterile hallways while doctors and nurses went about their business, transferring and attending to the many patients that stocked the waiting room.

“It's my fault,” the other Flash Sentry repeated to himself. “If I'd been faster-”

“Hey, don't beat yourself up over it.” Sunny patted his shoulder. “We did what we could. It was his choice.”

“At least those monsters are outside,” noted Flash Magnus who curled a lip at the thought of the Dazzlings. “They should all be imprisoned in Tartarus. All those wrecked ships in the Sparkling Seas? No doubt their old work. Imagine how many they've slain. Some crimes are beyond forgiveness.” He raised a forehoof to his barrel-like chest, shaking it with barely restrained fury.

“He has point,” said Applejack. “Why, in the times they hail from the lot of 'em would likely be strung up!”

“I'm not too fond of them either,” admitted Rainbow Dash. “After what Adagio and Aria did to me and Rarity?” She rubbed her midsection and shuddered, almost able to feel the bullet splitting her midsection again.

“I mean, they do have part of their powers back?” Pinkie Pie shrugged. “What if they do go back to their old ways?”

“Then we'll deal with them,” answered Sentry. “But until then, they're with us.”

Sunny moved to support him. “Sonata's come a long way. As for Adagio and Aria, they've been purified, so they shouldn't be any threat to us.” She didn't fully believe it, but she certainly wanted to, after all her counterpart had sacrificed to save them.

A short time later a doctor waved in Flash Sentry. “He's stable,” the stallion said. “He asked for you specifically. It's odd. You could be his twin! Anyhow, you'll have to visit one at a time. He's still weak, and we don't want to tax him too soon.”

With a nod Flash quietly entered the room. “Hey.” He waved to his twin who was slouched in a bed.

“Hey to you too,” he replied with a wry grin, reduced to a disheveled wreck. The sun's rays intermingled with the shadows that fell across him, his body wrapped in casts. “Might not fly ever again. But I'd do it just the same.” He chuckled.

“Look, I'm sorry. I misjudged you. And I screwed up.” He rubbed the back of his head.

“Nah, don't worry about it.” He coughed a couple of times, his voice straining a tad. “I'm no hero.”

“Bullshit.” They shared a warm laugh. A soft knock sounded at the door. Turning, the pair stared at a teary-eyed Nurse Redheart, shaking as she pushed aside the doctor who tried to bar her way and barged inside.

“Now hold up,” began the doctor.

“I have a right to be here!” She sniffled and wiped her eyes. “We used to be...be...” Her voice cracked.

“You're too close to the patient. You'll take this too personally!”

“I don't care! He needs somepony who'll...who loves him.” She'd lowered her voice to a whisper.

Equestria's Flash smiled. “Leave her be. She's right. I'll get better much sooner with a cutie looking after me.”

With a grumble the doctor relented and closed the door behind them. Redheart trotted up to his bedside, soft tears falling on his barrel. “You foolish, pig-headed...you shouldn't have...” She choked back her sobs, trembling.

“Hey now. You're even more beautiful when you cry.” He reached up a forehoof and caressed her cheek, which she nuzzled into his touch. “Do you forgive me now? Almost makes it all worth the beating I took!”

“You jerk!” She raised a forehoof to punch his shoulder and caught herself. “You're forgiven...for now, dear. Oh, I'm sorry.” She turned to the other Sentry. “I haven't properly introduced myself. I'm Nurse Redheart.” She shook his hoof.

“Nice to meet you. He's lucky to have somepony so faithful,” he replied with a mild smile.

“My, he's so much more polite than you! Maybe I should trade up, hmm dear?” She teased with a coy look.

“You know my attitude drives you wild.” His smirk widened when she bristled. Despite knowing better, he reached out an injured wing, tracing her flanks with the feather tips. “So soft,” he murmured as her white cheeks colored.

“Not in front of our guest,” she muttered.

“Why not? He's practically me anyhow, despite his different temperament. Are you taken, Flash?”

“Uh, not exactly.” He shifted awkwardly. “I have a thing with Sunny and Sonata, but it's an open-relationship.”

“See? No problem. And since I can't exactly tend to my mare's needs like she deserves, why don't you?”

“Hey now! I'm not some hussy to be freely traded around,” she snapped. “But...” She softened and looked him over with a keen eye. “You are quite handsome, I'll admit. Still, it seems a little sudden. We've barely met, after all.”

*****

The air burned hot and blew cold in equal measure within the depths of Tartarus, sweltering and frigid, but Twilight Sparkled and her companions were more concerned with the mass of demons which seemed to beset them from every hollowed-out tunnel. Glasses fogged up and she repeatedly wiped them, wishing she knew an array of spells like her double here, rather than just some simple telekinesis. Despite the wishes of Tempest Shadow, she'd convinced her a retreat was in order.

Unfortunately the area proved a maze, and despite repeated attempts, Tempest found she still couldn't teleport them out. Nor did it seem whoever their mysterious ally was could assist them, no doubt pursed by the treacherous Grim Reaper named Shadow Scythe, who'd beset them with succubi, lamia, harpies, naga, and other such creatures somewhere between mare and animal.

Spike's belly swelled, laying out a cloud of greenish fire which blocked some of the demons funneling in. Another passage was looked after by Tempest, laying out a dazzling display of beams, as Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy hid behind her.

“This was supposed to be the easier mission,” noted Rarity. “Yet I see now we shouldn't have come.”

“I'm not leaving without Inky Rose,” said Twilight. “I owe her that much, after what she did for Moondancer.”

“Of course, darling. I simply meant maybe we aren't well-suited to this, at least not as we are now.” Runes appeared across her body when she lifted up several stones, throwing a storm of rocks at their opponents which managed to drive a few back.

“See? You're a natural,” said Twi with a chuckle as she joined in.

“M-maybe I can help too,” whispered Fluttershy. “They're not so different from animals, are they? Maybe some will listen to me.” Tentatively she took a step forward, trying to steady herself, and stared down one of the lamia.

For a moment it hissed. Then it froze, tilted its head, and gazed back. Suddenly an aura enraptured the creature. “Huh, that's new.” Twi surprised herself with the impromptu spell. “All I could think about is how much I want to study it, and poof!”

“Damn it,” cried Tempest. “There's no end to this!” By now she and Spike had slain a dozen of the beasts, but he was huffing, his bursts of fire slowing. “Well now, I think Shadow Scythe's ability to block our escape is weakening, now that she's distracted! Looks like she's split her attention too far, controlling these monsters, trying to dim my magic, and dealing with the intruder! Just a moment now and-” She'd started to blink away with them, only to be struck by one of the creatures.

*****

Screams sounded when the party appeared back in Canterlot Palace. They'd manifested near the throne room, butlers and maids scurrying away, soldiers falling in to support them. Tempest sneered and wrestled with the succubus who'd assailed her, the pair rolling and trashing to gain purchase. Finally she managed to pin the devil, who snapped and snarled, helpless.

“Wait,” cried Princess Twilight who swiftly trotted over. “We should-”

“Study it!” Her formerly human counterpart finished with her, the pair sharing a twinkle in their eyes.

“Ugh. Of course,” noted Rarity who nevertheless tittered. She looked to the lamia, who was practically purring when Fluttershy stroked its cheek. “My, and it seems you two are getting on swimmingly, too! What's your secret?”

“Oh, it's simply my natural talent.” Fluttershy stared at the cutie marks on her flanks with a proud smile. “My other self told me all about it. No wonder I've always been a natural with animals. Um, do you think maybe that's why both Flash Sentries are so different? Maybe the one here realized what he was good at early, and it made him really confident, while our Flash-”

“Figured it out thanks to Sunset Shimmer,” finished the once human Twilight who adjusted her glasses. “No wonder he loves her. Speaking of which...I could have sworn I saw a an almost ghostly afterimage of her in the portals?”

“It's possible she's somehow able to manipulate the portals from the afterlife,” noted the Princess who continued to carry the succubus in an aura with Tempest while she led them to her private laboratory. It was almost like a gothic dungeon, built more for function, and packed to the brim with a variety of equipment. Beakers fizzled and bubbled upon the tables.

She deposited their captives into two of the empty tubes which lined the walls. These vats were usually used to craft constructs, such as golems, but would serve as makeshift prisons while the devils were studied. “Don't worry, I don't intend to harm them.”

“That's a relief,” said Rarity who watched the creatures squirm below the magically-reinforced glass. “But we still couldn't recover Inky's soul, and now Shadow Scythe is aware we're onto her. At least this confirms she's betrayed Equestria.”

“I don't think she could do this alone.” The Princess jotted down notes on a pad, the shrieks muffled when the demons clawed uselessly at their prisons, tiny scratch marks left down the interiors.. “Somepony or something is aiding her.”

“Could it be Tirek or Sombra?” The other Twilight pursed her lips. “They were cast into that hellish dimension, too.”

“Well, whatever the case may be, I'll have to leave a sizable army around key areas. Just in case.” The Princess sighed. “We're sure stretched thin these days, even with all our resources. I'd hoped Celestia and Luna could eventually retire, but it seems we'll have our hooves full for some time. Tempest, Spike, please continue to look after our guests.”

“You can count on us!” Spike saluted her. “Isn't that so, Tempest?”

“Of course. Well, the Pillars are looking after Ponyville at the moment, so I pity any creature foolish enough to attack it. Nonetheless it's probably best we return for now. I'll be in touch.” Tempest directed them to come with her.

*****

While she couldn't speak with her sisters directly, Sonata somehow understood their spirits, who radiated emotions when they hovered around her. She'd marched somewhere quiet and private in Ponyville, taking shelter behind a wooded area by the outskirts. Adagio and Aria floated around her, in a spectral unicorn and pegasus shape respectively, shimmering ethereally.

“They'll never understand.” Sonata's eyes watered. “It was a different age. Most creatures were cruel!”

Their eyes seemed to light up when they faced the intruder. “Sorry,” said Sunny who cantered up. “Didn't mean to intrude. Just wanted to make sure you were okay and all. Yo, hey there, Dagi and Ari. I'd offer you a flower, but you know.”

Sonata accepted one with a smile and munched down on it. “Hee-hee, they're not bad.”

“You might think they're safe for now, but if we leave them be, what'll happen to them? What if they end up tethered to one area forever? I hate to say it, but I don't think your average pony will take too kindly to them.” Sunny walked in a circle, lost in thought. “Maybe you won't like this, but I think we should take them to an expert. Somepony who can figure out what to do.”

“I won't let anypony hurt them,” reminded Sonata.

“Of course.” Sunny wasn't certain what they'd do anyhow. Exorcise them? Send them to the afterlife? She doubted whatever awaited those two was peaceful. They were probably responsible for thousands of deaths. Compared to their crimes in Equestria, what they'd done in her world almost seemed small-time. “Just trust me, okay?”

After a moment Sonata took her forehoof. “Sure. Sunset believed in you, enough to let you take her place.”

“Good! Sunny'll be there whenever you need her,” she promised wrapping a forehoof around her. The spirits hovered behind the duo who headed back towards the hospital. She also could've sworn Sunset Shimmer was briefly visible in that portal, but that was impossible, wasn't it? Was it simply wishful thinking, to believe their dear friend was somewhere out there?

*****

The stallionhood brushed against Redheart's cheek, smearing it in precum. Looking at her helpless prey with half-lidded eyes, she took his flared tip into her maw, bobbing her head with slow strokes. He'd convinced her to give him a little sexual healing, but she still needed to take it slow, as one wrong twist and he'd end up in an even worse state.

The other Flash Sentry hovered behind the nurse, gradually massaging her flanks with his forehooves. Her snatch started to wink, a thin drizzle dripping from it, her hips shifting and her incredibly soft pink sexholes puckering. She was inviting him in, and he pulled her lifted tail a bit, rubbing his dick between her squishy cheeks as his own pre oozed out.

“You'll have to fuck her for me,” reminded the wounded Flash. “A blowjob's about all I can take right now.”

With a nod he slid into her warm, moist canal, which parted to accept him. Almost lazily he rocked into her, slow, sensual humps, tracing over her buttocks and hanging breasts, nibbling on the nape of her neck which caused her to coo.

Back in the human world Flash was ashamed to admit he'd always harbored fantasies of the school's hot nurse. She'd always been sweet, thoughtful, attentive to her patients, not to mention she filled out her uniform nicely. What boy (And he was sure some of the girls) wouldn't have fallen for her? Her spread for Equestrian Suicidal Girls certainly hadn't hurt!

Looking at her counterpart on all fours before him now, he had to admit mare ass and pussy wasn't so different from a human woman's. His dick certainly couldn't tell the different. He wasn't certain how much his new biology informed his attraction, but he hadn't been able to tear his eyes away from the nethers of the mares here, who were seemingly always in position ready to be taken by a passing stallion ready to mount them. Maybe that's partly why his double was always so sexed up and cocky?

Studying the ring of her butthole while he rocked in-and-out of her, he traced it with a hoof. Seeming to sense what he wanted but was too afraid to ask, she reached for a bottle of cream from a table nearby, rubbing it into her rectum to lube herself up.

Withdrawing with a wet pop, his meat now soaked from her mare juices, he slowly pressed into her anus. She whined low, gradually spread as he took her, in absolute heaven as he fell into a steady rhythm. She clenched around him, each time he impaled her, working himself up a little faster as she did the same, skewering herself between the tow Sentries.

Eventually the two lost control, almost at once, his load released deep into her bowels, and likewise she buried her face in her lover's crotch, warm spunk painting the interior of her mouth. It rushed up her nose as she struggled to swallow it all down, burning her nostrils when it exploded out. She huffed and yanked free, swallowing down his gooey load with wet smacks.

“That's one way to bond, huh?” Equestria's Flash laughed. “Sadly, I won't be able to go on another mission for sometime.”

“You stay here and rest dear,” said Redheart who wiped her cum-stained lips and licked his release up.

The other Flash landed a playful spank on Redheart's butt before he pulled out too. He knew Sunny and Sonata wouldn't mind. They were free to do whatever they wished in Equestria. His concern was more with Sunset Shimmer, now that he knew his twin was safe. He wasn't the only one who'd seen her presence in the portal. Somehow she was still tied into all this.

They'd taken the first step and recovered the souls of Adagio and Aria. Now they needed to decide what to do with them. He hoped Inky Rose was okay, too. Knowing that they'd spent quite sometime alone in this room, and that the others would likely be suspicious by now, he quickly cleaned himself off, Redheart helping by licking him off. Of course she she had to take special care in case she worked him up all over again! She nuzzled him affectionately, which he returned with a mild smile.

Chapter 7

In truth Princess Twilight Sparkle had laboratories in Canterlot and Ponyville, in case she ever needed one in a hurry. She'd teleport between them, transferring equipment as needed, never far away from her latest projects. While the succubus and lamia were currently docile, allowing her to run some tests unimpeded, she'd need more help to finish.

Thankfully her double stepped in, mane tied up in a ponytail, glasses on her snout, and a lab coat she borrowed wrapped around her. “Ready to work anytime!” Her eyes poured over the notes scrawled out on a blackboard.

Sonata hung around to watch, staring at the spirits of her sisters hovering nearby with a tilt of her head. She'd paid Flash Sentry a visit in the hospital with Sunny, then Tempest had collected and deposited the mares here at their request.

“Uh-uh. Hmm. I don't know.” Fluttershy nodded and looked skyward, lost in thought while she chatted with the captive creatures. “Um, they want to make some sort of deal with us? Or more specifically, with the Dazzlings?”

“Huh, for realsies?” Sonata looked between her siblings then trotted forward. “So, let's hear it!”

Fluttershy listened to their chatter which no one else could interpret. “It seems they'll soon be whisked back to Tartarus since they're spirits who've taken flesh, unless...unless they unite with somepony here. They think if they combine with Adagio and Aria, maybe they'll be able to fool the afterlife and stay in Equestria? Do you think it can be done?”

“I've heard about similar deals with demons,” noted Princess Twilight. “They usually don't end well. But maybe with a little science we'll be able to avoid any treachery? Well, ultimately it's up to the Dazzlings to decide, I suppose.”

“We'll, er, confer or whatever?” Sonata waltzed into a corner to chat with the spirits.

Princess Twilight jotted down some more notes. She'd sent Nurse Redheart to her Flash Sentry to help him get over his reason troubles, hoping it would enable him to mend faster. Hopefully Tempest Shadow wouldn't mind him getting some side action too much! She still wasn't certain where they all stood in their little open relationship, as they constantly tested the waters.

She drew a few runes on the tubes where the monsters were stored, which would send a jolt through them if they lied or attempted to break free. While she didn't like to do this, there wasn't any harm in taking precautions, right?

Tempest Shadow marched into the lad. “Princess, trouble in Canterlot. Another portal has opened.”

“On my way. Twilight, could you take over for me?” She smiled at her twin then cantered off.

Sonata rejoined them. “My sisters'll do it!”

“Good. Think I can complete the formula,” the formerly human Twilight stated. “But I'll need complete concentration, okay? I'll need to borrow Adagio and Aria. Oh, and privacy, too, so do you all mind leaving us alone for a while? No distractions.”

Fluttershy nodded and headed out. Sonata frowned, and studied the hovering colored orbs, shooting them a sad smile before she reluctantly abandoned the lab, too. Once they left Twilight closed and locked the door. “You, over here.” She directed Adagio to where the succubus was, until she hovered within the tube. “And you here.” Aria rested where the lamia was. “Good.”

She'd rigged up some of the equipment stored here to resemble some of her inventions back home. To bolster it she'd rerouted all the power she could hear. Magic was a wonderful thing, almost without limits. She'd seen the results with all the damage Sombra, Tirek, and so many others twisted by the darkness had caused in her world. But now she'd turn the tables!

She flipped a heavy switch. The room went completely black, save for the glowing tubes where all the power funneled, the monsters screaming as jolts of electricity crackled through them. They thrashed, while Adagio and Aria found themselves bound to the creatures, sharing the same searing agony as they were slowly melded to their souls.

Twilight watched, seeming indifferent over her spectacles which reflected the pair. “Don't think I've forgotten what you did to my brother.” While upon her momentary ascension Sunny had tried to banish all the darkness from the world, small traces still remained, one rooted deep in her heart. A seething resentment after the Dazzlings had murdered Shining Armor that she'd locked away. But it smoldered and grew over time, unable to accept that they hadn't ever been properly punished.

Before her the abominations started to twist while their souls melded, the succubus taking on a likeness similar to Adagio's, and the lamia Aria's, their half-mare forms exceedingly lovely to hide the she-devils Twilight knew they really were. She tapped on the reinforced glass as the shocks whirred down. “I know you can hear me. Too bad nopony else will. This place is sound-proof. That means you're both mine, to do whatever I wish with. I'll say it was a freak accident. By then, you'll both be back in Tartarus! And who knows? Maybe Shadow Scythe will tear your souls to pieces!” She managed a humorless cackle.

“Wh-what do you expect us to say?” Aria sniffled as tears pooled down her face. “No matter how many times we apologize, we can't bring him back. We can't do anything but try and make amends for the rest of our lives.”

“This isn't like you,” observed Adagio who pursed her lips. “Yes, we're monsters, but are you? I don't think so.”

Throwing the switch again, Twilight briefly sent another round of volts through them, making them shriek as she upped the intensity. “Don't try and manipulate me, Adagio! I know what you're like!” She huffed and turned off the torture device.

Memories flashed through her aching head, reminding her of the mad scientist she'd almost been twisted into by the darkness, but she shook her hesitation aside. If she didn't act, who would? She couldn't allow them to get away with what they'd done! If she forgave them, it would be like betraying her brother, saying it was okay that they'd murdered him!

“It's okay,” whispered Aria who choked on sobs. “I know I'm terrible. I'm ready to face whatever you think I deserve.”

Adagio shook her head. “If you think we got off too easy, take it before Celestia and let her decide. But do this, and you'll be a step closer to being like us. Can you truly live with that? Think it over, carefully.”

Shadows fell over Twilight's face while she bowed her head and momentarily pondered her words. “I know you're still trying to play with my head. It's what you always do. You almost destroyed my relationship with Sunset Shimmer, after all.” Stomping a forehoof, she threw the switch again, hitting them with such intensity this time their bladders messily emptied.

“How undignified,” she mocked when she paused their treatment, remembering the way they'd drank her brother dry and left his pallid, naked carcass on the bloodied streets. “But still way better than you treated him!”

“Please...I'm the one who made Aria this way,” murmured Adagio. “Her sins are mine. But I know she can be better. So please, let me take responsibility. I'll do whatever you want for as long as I live, just please let her go.”

“Sister,” whispered Aria who teared up even more. “No, I couldn't let you-”

“You don't get to play the heroine,” said Twilight who let loose her ponytail and ruffled up her scraggly mane. “And you don't have any options, either! No more of your pitiful begging, demons! I'm sending you straight to Tartarus where you belong!”

She was about to throw the switch one last time, only now she wouldn't stop until they were both dead. No doubt after the thousands they'd murdered the underworld would be eager to gobble them up; and she hardly felt any remorse for a pair of demons caught in the mix. However, a forehoof closed over her own, stopping her. “Who the-?”

Despite all the monsters that spilled through the portal, between the Pillars and Element Bearers from both worlds, plus lots of help from their friends it took less than an hour to clean up the bedlam that beset the area. Sunny watched from the sidelines, unable to contribute more than an occasional push from her telekinesis, disappointed she was once again obsolete.

“This is almost too easy,” said Discord with a snap while he turned a pair of nagas into a bed of flowers. “Bored, bored.”

“I think we've had enough excitement for the time being,” replied Tempest Shadow who launched another series of beams. Beside her Spike took to the air, torching the devils and driving hordes of them back into the glowing rift. “I swear, all this clean up duty while we flit between Ponyville and Canterlot...” She sighed heavily.

While there was a fair amount of property damage, by the time the dust cleared there were no casualties on their side, those who were able to fight much having helped with the evacuation. “That's a relief.” Sunny wiped her sweaty brow. “Oh, hey Flash.”

“Hey yourself.” He smiled, hovering in place beside her with beats of his wings. “Luckily, my double will be okay. Nurse Redheart's, um, taking good care of him.” His cheeks colored a bit. “Anyhow, nice to see you're well.”

“Suppose so. Really need to practice some more. Without any advanced spells I'm dead weight.” She plucked another flower, gnashing it between her chompers. It had an almost sickeningly-sweet flavor, no doubt Discord's doing.

Princess Twilight wandered up. “Sorry, didn't mean to listen in, but maybe I can help with that? Invite the other 'me' and Rarity, too! Heck, everypony might as well come, I'm sure AJ's, Dash's, and Shy's new powers could use some practice, and they're pretty much the same as magic from what I can tell! I'd love a chance to study them, anyhow!”

“That's a nice offer. Sure,” answered Sunny with a laugh.

“And I'll train with Flash Magnus if he'll have me,” said Sentry. “We'll need all we can muster to deal with these Titans.”

“Yes...” Twilight bowed her head, remembering what she'd read in some of Starswirl's scrolls and suspicious of where these Elemental Titans may have come from. Hit with a sudden bout of inspiration, she turned. “Discord-?” But he'd vanished.

*****

Twilight Sparkle adjusted her glasses as she did a double-take. “Trixie?!”

“Close enough.” The stranger smirked. The coloration was all wrong, more inline with Twi's own but a lighter shade, the hat and cape decorated with rows of closed eyes and lips. "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Beatrix Belladonna, traveler from a parallel dimension, daughter of Trixie and Shining Armor from where I come from, who happened to stumble upon this Equestria!" She doffed her wide-brimmed hat with a theatrical bow. "But that's not important right now.”

She circled the room, her cloak closed at the neck by an eye-shaped piece of jewelry. “What matters is that Sunset Shimmer's still out there...in a sense. I don't know who's behind this, but Shadow Scythe's working with them. I barely managed to give her the slip. I couldn't speak with Sunset directly, but I could feel her presence in the portals, helping me take control of them momentarily. She saved my ass. I'd like to return the favor, but all I could sense is she's somewhere in Tartarus.”

“Probably with whoever Shadow Scythe's allied with,” replied Twi and the witch nodded. The darkness threatened to die away inside her, yet one look back at Adagio and Aria almost brought it rushing back to the surface.

“Actually, Sunset sent me here specifically for a reason, I'm sure.” Beatrix pursed her lips while she studied the Dazzlings. “She sacrificed herself to save them, too. Isn't that the best way for them to atone? By continuing to fight for Equestria?”

“But I...I...” Twilight's wails echoed and she stumbled into Belladonna's grasp, burying her face while she wept for her brother.

The venom in her heart bled away, banished to the dark where it belonged, until only her sorrows remained. Maybe she'd never be able to forgive the Dazzlings, but somewhere deep down she knew she'd have to work with them, if she ever wished to recover Sunset Shimmer. By now Adagio and Aria had fully molded to their new forms, their souls united with their hosts.

Using her aura Twi pressed a few buttons and opened the tubes. “Thank you,” said Adagio.

Aria shook her head. “We'll spend the rest of our lives making amends, I swear it!”

“I'll hold you to that,” replied Beatrix with a smirk. “Now, let's find Sonata, okay?” She unlatched the door and told them all a bit more about herself while they headed out, figuring she could fill in all the details on their way.

Twilight barely heard her, still distant. She wiped her glasses and rubbed her eyes. What had come over her? It was like she'd been possessed, trapped in a nightmare, almost completely falling to the residual evil left behind by the machinations of Tirek and Sombra. Keeping her distance from the Dazzlings, she continually mulled over their current predicament.

*****

In the depths of Tartarus a hulking creature cast a shadow over its prize. “You've been very bad, Sunset Shimmer.” A hoof rubbed over an artifact he'd dubbed the Coffin of Light and Darkness; a sarcophagus-like cocoon where the savior of the other world now remained entombed. “Who could have know you'd be able to interfere with the portals from within?”

Siphoning her power, he'd fused the two parallels worlds together, and once united they would be his to rule over. But he'd need far more power to break down Sunset's resistance, and thus far, his Elemental Titans and Shadow Scythe had been hampered in their duties. Perhaps he'd have no choice but to take a more direct approach in the times to come?

“Huh, cozy little place you have down here.” Discord chuckled, casually popping up next to the coffin. “Is that-?”

“You.” Grogar stomped forward. “You're a fool to come alone.”

“Oh?” With a raised paw over his mouth Discord yawned. “And what can you possibly do to-”

Before he could finish, a Titan tunneled up from the rock, bursting to the surface and wrapping its rocky arms about him. He recognized it as Crunch, a sturdy sentinel he'd believed long dormant. Discord tried to blink away, and when that failed to alter his shape, but no matter what he thought up his ability to warp reality was immediately neutralized. “Curious. Now how exactly are you-” His eyes went wide as he started to turn back into stone.

“My territory, my rules.” Grogar snorted. “Some would-be hero.”

Resigned to his fate, Discord summoned up all his power, trying to channel it at once in the hopes he could overturn the neutralizing effect. “Forgive me, Fluttershy.” He closed his eyes, the air around him seeming to unnaturally churn. Was Sunset Shimmer somehow helping him now, from her prison? He thanked her silently, his consciousness fading.

Cracks rippled through the golem, Crunch's core overloading as energy was funneled into it. The one it had absorbed from Squirk to make it stronger also doubled as a weakness, proving too much to contain now that Discord charged it up with what magic he could still drawn upon, the almost impossibly hard shell turning brittle under the impact. “M-master-”

A boom sounded amidst an explosion of light. Tossed backwards along with the sarcophagus, Grogar tumbled as clouds of debris filled the hellish caverns and temporarily blinded him. By the time it cleared, all that remained of his servant the the intruder was a nasty black stained on the cracked floor. He rose to check on his artifact, still seeing Sunset sleeping inside, the unicorn curled up in a fetal position below the translucent surface. “No matter. I have plenty more servants...”

Almost on cue Shadow Scythe reappeared. “Forgive me. The interloper escaped.”

His nostrils flared. “And how will you make amends for this blunder?”

“I still have Inky Rose's soul,” she reminded him. “They'll return for-”

“No.” He stomped with such force the interior quaked and she reflexively shuddered. “I can't have them snooping around here anymore. For now, I'll retreat even deeper into the labyrinth. As for you? Return to Equestria and lure them into a trap. Use your minions to whittle their numbers down. Do so, and you'll be well-rewarded. I don't think I need to explain the price of failure...” His blazing eyes settled on the dark spot, like a twisted silhouette forever etched on the earth's core.

“As you wish.” Trying to hide a sneer, the Grim Reaper mare hurried off to enact her latest plan.

At the Castle of Friendship an abrupt meeting was called, with everypony who could battle the invading forces summoned. Most of them packed into the chambers, with only a few choosing to stay behind; using the argument that they were needed to stand by on guard, just in case. It was decided Celestia, Luna, and the Pillars would keep watch for the moment.

Princess Twilight's eyes darted between the attendees. “Where's Discord?”

“Probably off playing one of his pranks,” answered pony Rainbow Dash who hovered nearby.

“Oh, I do hope he's okay.” Pony Fluttershy pursed her lips.

“Discord can take care of himself, can't he?” Sunny grinned, standing near the back where the Dazzlings were. “Besides, we have two sets of element bearers. Just a little more training and we should clean up the Titans in no time!”

“I do hope our confidence isn't misplaced,” noted Rarity. “Our only real lead at the moment is Shadow Scythe, but it's obvious she can't be working alone. But who could possibly be behind this? Somepony new? Most villains have been dealt with...”

“I'm always up for descending back into Tartarus and dealing with that traitor,” said Tempest Shadow. “Unfortunately, its a constantly shifting labyrinth filled with a menagerie of monsters in its depths. A perfect place for Scythe to lay a trap.”

Suddenly the map in the table's center started to light up everywhere. A resonance sounded, and they realized Titans were on a rampage again, this time several attacking at once. This time they were spreading across Equestria, the calls more than even their numbers could answer without splitting their large parties quite a bit.

But before they could even begin to take in this news, an astral projection manifested above the map; the glowing apparition of Shadow Scythe, with her deathly pale blue coat and white mane, looming over the onlookers. “No more games,” she announced. “You want the soul of Inky Rose? Then come and take it...if you dare!” She waved a forehoof and portals began to manifest.

“Oh, and you're wondering what happened to Discord?” She tossed back her head and laughed, the beheaded statue landing with a thunk from one of the rifts in reality. Fluttershy rushed over to the defaced statue, whimpering and sobbing while she tried to piece back together the shattered chunks. “That's what he gets for attempting to interfere!”

Fluttershy's eyes were pink when she screamed, “You monster!”

Beatrix Belladonna looked at one of the portals. “Sunset Shimmer, can you hear me? Maybe we can-” From the nexus suddenly emerged a series of coil-like strands, wrapping around her and pulling her in. Everypony scattered, but more reached out, seizing the Dazzlings, Sunny, and the pony versions of Fluttershy and Rarity who were closest by them.

Shadow Scythe's cruel, mocking laughter continued to echo throughout the room as she faded away. The tears in reality faded just as quickly and silence momentarily settled over chamber. Princess Twilight and Tempest Shadow were already hard at work trying to track the magical signature of the intruder, but found it difficult, especially since hers was overwhelmed by the Titans raging all over Equestria. They had no choice but to divide their forces and try to deal with this threat...

*****

An eerie miasma blanketed a dew-covered forest seemingly in the midst of nowhere. And within it sat what appeared to be an elaborate dollhouse somehow blown up to mansion size. The baroque architecture was lined with gargoyles to frighten away interlopers. It stood several stories high, barely visible in the barely-lit dawn and wrapped in a glowing shroud.

A thud sounded when the portal deposited the captives into its innards. A massive spiderweb lined decrepit hallways filled with webbing, and at its center was pinned Beatrix, who squirmed helplessly. “H-help,” she called nearly emptying her bladder when a demonic spider the size of a wagon with clicking mandibles and multiple crimson eyes crawled her way.

“Just hold on,” cried Sunny who tried to untangle the threads around her. However they merely pulled even tighter.

“We're fucked,” yelled Aria who's new lamia form was almost able to squirm out of her binds.

“Don't give up!” Adagio realized just how sharp the teeth in these new monstrous forms were, and started to chew through the sticky webs. Unfortunately she realized by the time she made it through their new ally would be pumped full of venom that would reduce her organs to sludge and leave her a tasty snack for the hellish monster that captured them.

Rarity attempted her own escape, telekinetically unwinding the threads with precise care, much like when she worked a new outfit. It was working well, but sadly she knew it would take far too long to possible save the prisoner.

“Um, Mr. Spider?” Fluttershy stared at the creature who paused. “I know you're hungry, but if you don't mind terribly, could you let us go? They're all friends of mine, and I'd be terribly sad if I lost any of them.”

The spider flexed its jaws while thinking it over, his multiple legs covered in tons of tiny fine hairs.

“O-oh my,” blushed Fluttershy while she listened to his bizarre chattering. “But I simply couldn't...”

Aria raised an eyebrow. “What's he saying?”

“Well, um, he...he says he'll let us go...but if we can't feed him, we'll have to compensate him in some...other way.” Shy mumbled the words, barely able to make herself say them aloud. “But I can't make that decision for them.”

“Meh, these aren't our real bodies.” Aria shrugged. “Why not?”

“You have a point,” said Adagio. “And I am eager to try out this succubus guise.”

Sonata giggled. “This should be fun! It'll be totes like old times, right sisters? Like when we used to go around seducing whatever creatures wandered our way...” She stared upwards with a blissful sigh, recalling better times.

Sunny shrugged. “Guess we don't have much choice, huh?”

“I'd rather not be a snack,” admitted Beatrix who continued to wiggle helplessly.

“Very well. I shall make this sacrifice too,” announced Rarity. She added more quietly, “Thank heavens he isn't my first...”

Readying his spinneret, the spider shot out more gooey strands, like a rain of bukkake that splattered all over the mares. He drew them into his shimmery web, depositing them around Belladonna. “Um,” the witch said. “Are you sure about this-?”

“I know Mr. Spider will keep his end of the bargain,” assured Shy who nevertheless shivered a bit at his approach.

His digits lined up with each of their slits, struggling to find the one that started on the pony portion of Aria and trailed into her serpent lower half, and then he slowly pushed into their moist tunnels. Squelches sounded and flecks of pussy juice spattered while he filled them, a chorus of moans resounding as he started to claim them with rough stabs.

Blushes crossed their faces, Mr. Spider's penis starting to slide out, wet and thick. His fiery eyes trailed over them, uncertain which he should take fully to satisfy himself. Predictably he settled on Flutters, positioning himself to mount her.

“Be gentle,” she murmured coyly with a sultry smile and half-lidded eyes. “At least, at first.” He pierced her, spreading her pussy open, carving it to fit his shape. She whined when he gradually started to hump her.

“Always knew she was a closet freak,” mumbled Aria.

“Perhaps we all are,” admitted Adagio who was enjoying this just as much as her sisters.

Beatrix said, “You won't have lots of little spider-babies I hope?”

“I-I don't think we're compatible,” wheezed Shy between huffs. “But with magic, you...you never know?”

Squishes sounded when he continually speared them. They wiggled and writhed, spattering its hairy extensions with love nectar, which dripped down it. Flutters winked and milked Mr. Spider, who finally lost control, burying himself completely into her when he started to unload. His mandibles twitched, his abdomen throbbing each time he pumped more cum into her.

Her belly swelled almost to bursting once he finally finished. Satisfied, he withdrew from them all with a wet pop, their holes gaping and oozing with feminine honey when he started to unwind his threads. “Th-thanks, Mr. Spider!” Fluttershy wobbled and drops rolled from her with pitter-patters, nuzzling her cheek against his face and patting it with a warm smile.

“Not bad,” mused Adagio who stretched lazily. “Wouldn't you agree, sister?”

“Yeah,” admitted Aria who was similarly basking in her afterglow. “These new bodies are pretty sweet!”

With their end of the deal kept Mr. Spider withdrew back into the bleakness with a skitter, leaving them to explore further into the decrepit dollhouse unimpeded. Taking a few moments to compose themselves, Sunny took the lead, their nominal commander despite her lack of any offensive abilities. She started up a winding staircase which creaked with each step.

They trotted after her, their silhouettes seeming to crawl over the uneven interiors. The architecture was designed at odd angles, like something out of a surreal painting, or perhaps an unfinished sketch blotted in ink.

The party reached the second floor where a seemingly endless hallway stretched out. Sunny started to choose a direction at random, having to admit much as this place creeped her out, it seemed to suit Inky Rose to a tee.

“Enjoying yourselves?” Maniacal laughter sounded throughout the haunted house.

“Show yourself,” demanded Rarity with a snort.

At the end of the corridor appeared Shadow Scythe who raised a forehoof, the dark sphere of Inky's soul hovering above. “Not another step,” she warned when Rarity started to advance. “Or else I'll swallow it!”

“You murdered Discord,” cried Fluttershy with teary eyes.

“He did himself in by interfering. And now that you're all in my trap? Well, you'll soon follow!” Around them the halls seemed to rotate, making them tumble about, their senses assaulted from all sides. Vertigo threatened to overwhelm them, enveloped by a nightmare that refused to relent. The Grim Reaper floated towards them, her scythe raised for a fatal stroke.

“You...won't beat us,” swore Rarity who clenched her teeth and strained. “Everypony, haven't you realized it yet? I'm not certain how, but she's somehow sucked us into a dream! And that means the normal rules do not apply!”

What her new allies nor their enemy knew was that she'd once been turned into what was dubbed 'Nightmare Rarity'; and that once she'd been purified by the love of her friends she still had access to an angelic version of that guise. At her will she became taller, more regal and imposing, her mane growing longer and flowing ethereally around her radiant, glowing form.

She resembled an angel, almost blinding in her golden-white illumination. In her presence Shadow Scythe was forced to withdraw, the shifting area settling back to normalcy. She tried to ready her scythe for a blind swipe, when Aria slithered up and swatted her back with her tail. At the same time Adagio flew towards her, using a jar she borrowed from Sonata to scoop up Inky's soul. “No,” cried the Reaper with a glare. Her silver blade arced out with a swish, a crimson mist tossed about.

“Ah,” screamed Sonata when the metal sliced into her torso. She'd barely missed being beheaded, but crumpled in a pool of her own spreading blood, her body shaking and kicking while the life drained from her.

Hisses sounded from Adagio and Aria who backed the Reaper into a corner, ready to shred her to pieces. Beatrix used her cape to wrap up Sonata, trying to help Sunny stifle the bleeding, while Rarity continued to light the area, leaving the Reader nowhere to escape. Unable to teleport away, Shadow Scythe bared her teeth at them, ready to go down in a bloodbath if necessary.

The haunted dollhouse started to rumble. Portions of it collapsed, and Fluttershy narrowly evaded chunks of debris that crashed down, shattering a part of the floor. The top was ripped off the house, a swirling vortex whirling above, threatening to suck them in. They were forced to cling to whatever was available, boards ripped away in the midst of the howling winds.

A playfully malicious voice boomed, “Looks like I have to clean up your mess after all!”

The dreamscape Shadow Scythe had lured them into was ripped away. She stared hatefully above. “Arabus, the Titan of Storms? Grogar betrayed me!” She realized with her failure he'd abandoned her to die, that perhaps he'd intended to betray her since the start before she could do the same, in order to seize all the souls he'd collectedly as his own. But before she could complain further a gust of wind hurtled the screaming Reaper into the distance.

Gray clouds above took shape. Golden claws unfurled from it, matching a stylized bearded and beaked face with fiery orange eyebrows. The fluffy wisps took on shapes that resembled flowing hair, wings, and a tail, empty black eyes studying his new prey. To the Elemental they were little more than toys his master provided to amuse him...

Trapped somewhere between a state of waking and dreaming, Sunny and her team struggled to hold onto the dollhouse which was being ripped apart by a whirlwind. Above them Arabus continued to loom, laughing while he toyed with them, the Titan easily able to suck them in but choosing instead to take his time and enjoy his latest toys.

Torn beams and other debris circled skyward and whipped about. Rarity's illumination was fading, while Adagio and Aria struggled to keep hold of a badly wounded and unconscious Sonata. With gritted teeth Dagi also clasped the jar with Inky Rose's soul close to her bosom, unwilling to let it be snatched away after they'd tried so hard to claim it.

“Yo! We're kinda fucked,” called Sunny over the howling winds. “Aren't we?”

“Don't...give it just yet,” wheezed Rarity who tried desperately to call upon more of her mysterious powers. But with the Titan's arrival they were being pulled out of the dreamscape, back into the comparatively mundane reality.

“At least this punk took care of Shadow Scythe,” yelled back Aria who's tail curled around a beam for support.

“For all the good it will do us,” whispered Fluttershy who was still sniffling over thoughts of what happened to Discord.

Arabus hovered closer and looked them over. “Now, who should be first?” The cloud-like figure's gaze settled on Beatrix. “You're the one who's been interfering with master's portals, aren't you? Time to pick you apart piece-by-piece!”

The witch shivered and lit her horn, preparing a spell she knew would have little effect to defend herself. That only made his boisterous laughter boom louder, knowing that all of them combined would be no match for him under any circumstances.

But before he could strike, Mr. Spider hurtled out from seemingly nowhere and clamped onto him. Immediately the gales started to die down, the duo struggling in midair. At first they believed he'd come back to aid Fluttershy, only to see that Shadow Scythe was riding atop the critter's hairy back, scowling while she guided him to attack the treacherous Titan.

“Grogar's a fool to think he could be rid of me so easily! Unfortunately for him, I know most of his secrets!” Using her strange magic Scythe exposed the glowing core hidden in the depths of the cloud. “There! Rip it out and crush it!”

“You fool,” called Arabus while he wrestled with the arachnid. “Do you really think-”

Another portal manifested around the dollhouse, this one much larger than any they'd encountered before. Almost like a bunch of the rifts in reality had somehow been tethered together. It started to close around Sunny and her companions, a bluish-white oval that shimmered and hummed, drawing them away from a conflict between their enemies.

A howl sounded from Arabus. He'd ripped Mr. Spider open with lancing winds, splattering his guts about, only for his core to be overloaded by Shadow Scythe's magic at the same time. The glowing sphere erupted in an explosive fiery tornado, the fate of the Grim Reaper unknown as the party was swallowed up and deposited elsewhere...

*****

“W-where are we?” Fluttershy trembled while she studied the odd void of shifting colors all around them. Somehow they were standing upon air, like they were trapped in some sort of purgatory. “Wait, isn't this like-”

Rarity nodded, now returned to her normal self. “Like that place Twilight described when she became an alicorn?”

“Close enough,” came a familiar chuckle as a figure materialized before them.

“Discord?!” With a choking sob Shy ran to hug him, only to pass through his body. “Oh no, are you-”

“A ghost? Something like that, my dear. Don't ask me to explain it.” He shrugged and floated about, looping his thin body. “Grogar may have destroyed my body, but it looks like I'm not really able to pass onto the afterlife, maybe due to the nature of what I am? Guess I'm trapped in limbo forever, my spirit tethered to other dimensions?” He chuckled some more.

“Thank you for saving us,” said Shy who wiped her eyes.

“Oh, I'm not the one you should thank. It's all her doing!” He pointed at Sunny.

“Me? Um, I don't understand...” Suddenly her eyes went white. “Sorry about this. It's me. Sunset Shimmer. Don't worry,” she said with a laugh when they looked somewhere between alarmed and confused. “She's practically me so she was the easiest to possess. She won't be hurt, and I'll return her body to her soon as I can, but this was the only way to communicate with you!”

“Huh,” said Beatrix Belladonna. “Thanks for all you've done! I have so many questions...”

Sunset Shimmer nodded with a sad smile. “I'm sure you all do. I've been helping channel the portals through Beatrix, interfering with Grogar's and Shadow Scythe's plans wherever I can, but in this state my power is rather limited. He's trapped me somewhere deep within the abyss of Tartarus, in an artifact he calls the Coffin of Light and Darkness.”

Adagio frowned. “Can you lead us there? And what about Sonata...?”

“She's safe, for the moment. Time moves differently here so she's stabilized, for now. But she'll need immediate medical attention. After we're done here I'll help Beatrix open a portal and deposit you somewhere safe. Maybe I can take you right to the hospital where Flash Sentry's at?” She smiled wistfully, thinking of her old boyfriend. “Tell him I miss him.”

She walked around them in a circle. “As for confronting Grogar, that would be suicide at the moment, even if I could penetrate that far. His small army of Titans are rampaging all over Equestria right now, not to mention all the demons he has under his command. This is all due to Tirek's and Sombra's actions back in the human world; they've torn down the barriers between realities.” She softened, sighing. “Adagio, Aria, thanks for helping out. I want to think I made the right choice saving you.”

“We'll make you proud,” swore Aria who was moved to tears.

“You've become such a softy,” gently teased Adagio who smiled at her sister.

“Shut up sis, you'll ruin the moment.” The Dazzlings embraced Sunny. They held her for some time, wishing the moment would never end, but knowing there was still much that needed to be done. “Isn't there some way to bring you back...?”

“I'm not sure. When I died I was worried I'd be trapped in Hell like Tirek and Sombra forever...or my soul would be ripped to shreds. But I'd do anything to make up for my mistakes,” she admitted unable to hold back tears.

“Well, this is rather touching, but we can't do this forever.” Discord drifted over, reclining on his back. “We'll be watching over you from here, so don't let us down, will you?” He blew Flutters a kiss, and she blushed with a subdued nod.

With help from Sunset and Discord a nexus opened to transport them back. “Normally I'm limited to just a rift between dimensions,” admitted Beatrix. “I can't teleport on a whim, I'm afraid, so thanks for that!”

They filed into the rift one-after-another.

*****

Twilight Sparkle had returned to the laboratory, still shaken by what she'd almost done. Grime stained her lab coat, but she hardly carried, goggles shrouding her eyes and hiding her tears. Maybe she'd never be able to truly forgive the Dazzlings...but she knew her brother wouldn't want her to grieve forever. To distract herself, she threw everything she had into her work.

Unlike Adagio and Aria, who'd taken on the host bodies of demons and fused their souls with them, Inky Rose had no such option waiting. Instead she worked in a magical construct in her spare time; a flesh golem that was an exact replica of what the pegasus would look like. Carefully sculpted by her hooves, it was anatomically correct and fully functional.

“We're home~” Beatrix hummed a jaunty tune, carrying the jar with a purple-and-black sphere trapped within. She'd left Adagio and Aria back at the hospital, with the excuse Sonata needed them; but more accurately she didn't want a relapse if she wasn't ready to handle another meeting with the Dazzlings. “Ready to bring poor Inky Rose back?”

“We'll see if it works. I'd like some more input from the mages here, but all of the best ones are busy dealing with the latest crisis.” Carefully she accepted the jar. “But I'm sure you'll lend a hoof, won't you?”

“Of course! But I'm only a mid-tier mage I'm afraid,” admitted Belladonna who pulled the tip of her wide-brimmed hat over her eyes. She trotted next to the flesh golem and her smirk widened. “Just tell me whatever I need to do.”

“Don't worry, it's not difficult. But I could always use an assistant!”

Mostly the series of directions she rapidly rattled off involved throwing switches and turning nozzles that put on a light and electric show, which made Beatrix wondered if half of this was for mere effect. It wasn't helped by Twilight casting back her head with a mad scientist cackle, her shadows dancing over the laboratory while she spun about.

However she was all business when the time came, the bottle uncorked. “Now, help me direct the soul into its new home!”

Wrapping the slippery soul in her aura, Belladonna forcefully pushed it into the golem before it slipped away. The creation was primed to resonate with it, trapping it in place, helped by the magical currents ran through the shell. This went on for several moments, until the machines whirred and wound down, several lights blinking out from the sudden overload.

Gradually Inky Rose blinked her sleepy eyes. “What,” she rasped in a muted whisper. “What happened...?”

“You traded your life to bring Moondancer back,” said Twilight. “But we've made it all better.”

“I'm...a pony now? This must be Equestria,” noted Inky as realization dawned. “Where is everyone else?”

“It will be a long story. Just rest now,” said Twilight who hugged her. “You're with friends.”

“And Pacific Glow...?”

“Sorry...there's no way to save her.” She wiped a teardrop from Inky's cheek. “I'd like to think she's in a better place.”

“Maybe.... I don't know what I should do now. Pacific and Sombra were everything to me. But he screwed us over, and I don't have anyone or anything to return to. Maybe I should stay in this world...if that's okay.” She stretched her wings experimentally.

“I think that should be fine.” Twilight tossed aside her goggles and beamed.

Beatrix strutted up. “Nice to meet you My name's Beatrix Belladonna.” She offered a forehoof and they shook. “Say, would you like to meet your counterpart here? Or what about Pacific Glow? Maybe we could track them down...”

“Meeting myself would likely just be awkward,” said Inky. “As for Pacific Glow, she's not the one I know, and if she's happy here, I certainly wouldn't want to intrude like some creepy stalker. It might be nice to see her from a distance, though.”

“Sweet! We'll make it a date soon as possible,” said Beatrix.

Inky practiced walking on her long, thin legs, smiling at her new body. “I could get used to this. Hmm, but what about Sunset Shimmer? I assume she dealt with Sombra and Tirek? I'd like to thank her, wherever she is.”

“About that.... Well, it's quite a tale. Sunny can tell it better than us I'm sure,” said Beatrix.

The trio headed out of the lab. Twilight decided to reunite with her friends, who were still practicing to master their powers, in the hopes they'd eventually be on a level to help out. By now she could cast a few simple spells, but nothing that would make much of a difference in a heated battle. Now that Grogar had loosed the majority of his forces, they would all need to be ready...

The hospital was packed with the wounded. With an onslaught of monsters spilling all over Equestria, soldiers and mages were called from all over, rallying to stem the tide and guide bystanders to safety. A number of well-known protectors, such as the Pillars, put in constant public appearances to assure the citizenry that they would protect them and maintain order.

Sonata's head swam with dizziness, fading in-and-out of consciousness while she was wheeled to her room on a gurney. Her wounds had been hastily patched, and she half-heard somepony say, “She's stable,” but the clinical halls were mostly a partially remembered blur. “S-sisters,” she barely managed to mumble, shaking and reached out a forehoof.

“We're here,” replied Adagio who raced beside her with wings spread and watery eyes. “You'll be okay, I swear it.”

Aria sniffled and slithered on the other side. “I'm sorry. I should've treated you better-”

Sonata laughed weakly. “It's...okay. Just glad you're...here...” She blinked, trying to stay awake.

Sunny turned to Nurse Redheart who was helping a doctor and team of orderlies transport her. “Yo, think she could share a room with Flash Sentry? I mean, lots of company will do them both some good, I think.”

“It's not my call,” said Redheart who looked to the doctor.

He shrugged. “Your instincts have panned out okay so far, Redheart, so I'll leave it to you”

She smiled. “Then we'll try it.” Redheart helped them open the door and guide the gurney into the room. She shot both Flash Sentries a tired smile, the formerly human one having been at his counterpart's bedside nearly the entire time. Sonata was carefully placed in a section nearby, and the orderlies were racing to fetch more supplies to make her nice and comfortable.

“It's a madhouse out there,” said Sunny. “Dozens upon dozens wounded. Not many casualties, thankfully.” She could hear the muffled clop of hooves and a cascade of voices even from here, more battered ponies and other creatures being admitted all the time. Again she couldn't help but think her double could do a whole lot more to help out, if only she were here!

“Try and relax,” called Adagio over her shoulder. “The others will take care of everything.”

“I suppose,” replied Sunny who nervously nibbled on a flower. “How you holding up, Flash?”

“Fine...thanks to all these cuties,” said the pegasus who was wrapped up in his bed with a grin. “Redheart's taken real good care of me!” She blushed when he winked at her, trying to carry herself in her usual professional manner.

“Knock it off,” said the other Flash who sat on a stool. “This is serious. They've all been worried about you.”

“Makes it even better. But seriously, Flash Magnus is out there doing his part, and I'm stuck here. You'll help him in my place, won't you?” His double nodded once. “Good. Without my wings I'm pretty much useless, I'm afraid.”

“I know the feeling,” said Sunny who often felt like her horn was little more than decoration. She reminded herself her pals were out there working with their counterparts to master their new bodies, and she needed to do the same. “Well, I just came to check in, really. I'd only be in the way, so I'm off.” She gave both Flashes a peck on the cheek then cantered out.

*****

“I can slip between dimensions,” explained Beatrix Belladonna while music thudded and neon colors flashed around them in the dance club. “But I can't teleport around at will, I'm afraid. It's only thanks to Sunset Shimmer that I can open up these portals, and even then, it's risky. Always a chance somepony like Shadow Scythe will intercept me!”

“I see,” replied Inky Rose who stood on the railing beside her. “Thanks for taking me here.”

“No problem. Hard to believe they could celebrate with all this nonsense. Or maybe that's exactly why? We could all kick the proverbial bucket at any time, what with this Grogar business. From what I hear he's an ancient evil that's created all kinds of monsters with his magic.... Oh, sorry, we didn't come here to talk about that gloomy stuff. You seen her yet?”

“There,” murmured Inky who spotted the raver pony dancing in the middle of the floor. A pacifier hung from Pacific Glow's neck, and she was covered in some glowing tubes and the like, whirling and working herself up into a frenzy, smiling all the while. Inky sucked in a breath, watching her as tears crept into her eyes. “She looks so happy.” A pained smile crossed her. "She was the closest thing I ever had to a sister, before Sombra..."

For a few minutes they simply observed, the rail trembling a little under the vibrations. She toyed with her hat and asked, “You sure you don't want to say hello? It might be hard to track her down later.”

Inky shook her head. “She's not the same Pacific I knew, not really. Besides, she's made a nice life for herself here, and I wouldn't wish to interfere with that.” She used a silk napkin to dab at her runny mascara. “I'll be fine. Really.”

“Good! Last thing I want to do is depress you, especially when you just came back. It'll take some time, but I'm sure you'll adjust to Equestria. We'll head back when you're ready. Right now I'm Sunset's main link with everypony else, so I can't afford to relax too long, I'm afraid!” She clutched her wide-brimmed hat in her forehooves and watched the dancers below gyrate. They stayed that way for almost an hour, before Inky nodded at her.

Drawing a circle in mid-air with a forehoof, she opened a rift into reality. The bluish-white energy swirled with a low hum, and she tried to locate the faint imprint of Sunset Shimmer in the nexus, waving with a smile and hopeful Grogar hadn't been able to harm her in any way. “After you!” She and Inky stepped through, leaving the noise behind them.

Another emergency summit was called between everypony who was available. With the Elemental Titans on the rampage under Grogar's direction, many of their forces were split all over Equestria, yet Princess Twilight Sparkle knew they would need to throw far more at them before their world was completely torn apart by the portals which appeared all over.

A number of attendees were packed into the meeting room in the Castle of Friendship, where a magical three-dimensional map showed a miniature map of the land, and where their known enemies were currently located. A number of lesser monsters unleashed from Tartarus were also loosed; without the traitor Shadow Scythe to keep them in check they freely preyed on civilians and soldiers alike. Thankfully Celestia, Luna, their Royal Guards, and the Pillars were all quick to respond.

“It should be clear how dire the situation is,” said Princess Twilight with a sigh. She looked between her human world counterpart, her friends and their own doubles, her entourage which included Tempest Shadow and Spike, Sunny, and the newcomer Beatrix Belladonna. “Starlight and Trixie have already headed off to help, but we're still low on numbers.”

“Not to mention practice,” noted Rainbow Dash. “We've trained our doubles the best we can, but we haven't had much time!”

“I know. That's why I'm hesitant to send you all out. But we don't have many options left...” It felt like the fate of the wold was again on her shoulders. Worse, if what Beatrix claimed was true, these rifts in reality could collapse entire universes left unchecked. Like it or not, the humans who'd come here were at risk too, as their world could also be ripped apart.

Beatrix tapped the side of her head. “Huh? It's like I can hear this faint whisper from somewhere...”

Sunny's eyes momentarily went white and she swallowed the flower she was chewing on. “Sorry, Discord's trying to help me communicate with you, but it's hard from where we're at. Hate to hijack Sunny again, but it's Sunset Shimmer.” She smiled when they crowded around her, warmed all over as she laughed. “Thanks! It's nice to see you too, but we have business. Beatrix?”

“Got you.” Drawing a circle with her forehoof Belladonna sliced into the air, opening a swirling bluish-white portal. Immediately Discord popped out, or more accurately his ghost. “Nice to see you again!”

“You too,” he replied turning his attention on Fluttershy and her twin. “Much as I'd love to further catch up, like dear Twilight and Sunset said, time is of the essence! I know of a way not to only train you faster, but to more than double your power!”

Sunset nodded. “We've discussed it quite a bit. It should be safe...in theory.” She whispered her plan to Beatrix who nodded.

Between the combined magic of Discord, Sunset using Sunny's body as a vector, and Beatrix Belladonna, they channeled their power through the portal. A spiral of rainbow energy ripped through the room, and from the oval popped out the Dazzlings and both Flash Sentries who landed with a thud. The multi-colored curtain fell over the onlookers, blinding them as they were wrapped in its warmth. For a moment it felt like all of them were united, and slowly the illumination faded.

When the dust settled there were only one set of the mane six, both sets fused into one. Flash Sentry was also one individual, the one from the human world taking dominance since his double was wounded, and Sunset had tethered herself to Sunny.

“Wow,” said Sunny whose eyes watered as she grinned. “Thanks, Sunset. Now I won't feel like such a third wheel!”

Discord was no longer visible; his voice telepathically echoed through the chamber. “That took the last of my power. Forgive me, Fluttershy, but it might be quite sometime before we meet again! However, maybe now I can set right old mistakes. You should all have the power necessary to take on the Titans and their master now. And not to worry; this shall wear off...eventually. I'll be watching over you...” His voice trailed off, until it had completely faded into the ether.

Sonata wiggled her body. “I'm still a little weak, but I'm healed!” She nuzzled up to Adagio and Aria, still respectively in their succubus and lamia shapes. “So, you two ready to help them tackle those nasty monsters?”

“You bet,” said Aria who hugged them. “Not sure if Shadow Scythe's still alive, but I want some payback!”

Adagio nodded. “Maybe we can't ever truly be redeemed...but we'll continue to try.” She stroked their manes, the sisters still haunted by their past actions, unable to truly move on no matter how hard and often they struggled.

Tempest Shadow stared down at her forehooves. “Huh...and what about us without a counterpart present? I do feel a slight buzz, but otherwise, I hardly feel any different.” She exchanged a look with Spike who also shrugged.

“I do feel a hotter fire than usual in my belly,” replied Spike who patted his stomach.

“You've been super-charged!” Beatrix winked at them with a sly grin. “At least, that's how Discord explained it to us. Think of it as taking a limiter off. But as a result, you'd better not go all-out unless you absolutely have to-”

“Or else we might lose ourselves to the power,” finished Sunny as Sunset's personality and memories bled into her own; however her double had allowed her to take the reigns. “Sounds pretty dangerous. You sure about this?”

“It'll be fine...I think.” Beatrix shrugged it off and nodded at a portal. “You all ready to head out?”

Sunny chewed on her lower lip. “So many targets...” This was it. Sunset trusted her to take the lead, inwardly assured her that she needed to do this, but she still trembled at the thought of leading others into battle. At least they would be able to partake in some on-the-field training, which they gambled would enable them to master their powers much faster.

A warm smile crossed her when Flash put a hoof around her; her Flash she realized as the one here allowed him to take command of their shared body. It seemed all their Equestria counterparts trusted the humans to look after them. Sunset's friends crowded around her, embraced her, thankful to have Sunset back; she returned their warm hugs, teary-eyed, soaked in their warmth for a moment. There were tears and pleasantries exchanged, but she knew they couldn't dally much longer.

Looking between the areas where the Titans were situated, she decided on one with a firm nod and trotted to the rift.

Cannon fire erupted in the sky. The airship headed by Captain Calaeno narrowly evaded another chunk of ice hurled their way by a blizzard with a wild turn. Around them the Wonderbolts flew in formation for support, most of Equestria now united in defense against Grogar and his Elemental Titans which invaded with their legions of demons.

“We're outmatched,” snapped Calaeno who spun the wheel again to dodge another stray chunk of ice.

Below the Titan of Ice, Charlatan, turned the ocean around him into a frigid white nightmare. His massive bulk was made up of angular bluish-white shapes embedded in green gemstones. “You dared to destroy my brethren? You will all pay!”

He raised his block-like arms and a blizzard started to swirl above him. Several pegasus were frozen instantly and dropped with a splash. The Wonderbolts drew back, and Calaeno desperately ordered her crew to unload more cannonballs that barely scratched his hide. “Curses,” she hissed. “Is this really the end, after we worked so hard to rebuild our airship?”

As if in answer there was a flash and backup blinked onto the deck. “We're back,” said Rainbow Dash with a wink.

“Count on us,” said Pinkie Pie. “Oh, but it seems a bunch of us are missing?” She looked around them.

“Sunny must have teleported them elsewhere,” said Twilight Sparkle. “Or should I say Sunset It's confusing, now that we're all united with our counterparts.” She noted that Flash Sentry, Beatrix Belladonna, and the Dazzlings were missing too.

“This aint the time,” called Applejack when an ice storm was hurled their way.

Twilight ignited her horn and raised a dome-like barrier that deflected the attack, a hiss sounded as the snow struck. “We have to destroy his Core. However, that also means we'll have to get dangerously close. It's pretty much suicide.”

Rarity pursed her lips. “We must try.” She turned to Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash. “Perhaps you two could fly us in?”

“I...I'm not swift enough for that,” admitted Fluttershy with a frown.

“Leave it to me,” said Dash who grinned and watched Charlatan toss more-and-more at the barrier, visibly frustrated while he tried to tear it down. “Hey, if I don't make it back...it's been wonderful. Oh, who am I kidding? I'll be fine!”

“Wait,” cried AJ. “You can't really mean to-”

But the pair of Rainbow Dashes, now united as one, had only doubled in confidence...and raw speed and power. Bolstered by this, she raced at blinding speeds, past the glaciers it hatefully hurled her way, a colorful blur that shot directly at it. Her mind went back to the day when she performed the Sonic Rainboom, the moment when she'd sealed her destiny and formed a bond with her closest friends. “This is for Equestria,” she screamed and performed her second Sonic Rainboom directly at his core.

“What? Impossible!” Charlatan couldn't even follow Dash when she slammed through his Core, like a white-hot bullet, and he yelled, his centerpiece exploding when she passed out the other side. Cracks started to spread throughout his bulk.

Within seconds he crumbled with a thunderous thud and smashed atop the icy sea he'd crafted, no more.

“Rainbow Dash...” Rarity blinked back tears.

Pinkie shook her head. “She can't really be gone!” She grabbed a pair of binoculars and tried to follow the rainbow blur.

“Sh-she'll be back,” said AJ who gripped her stetson to her bosom. “She has to be.”

The airship touched down on the nearest land mass, a small island in the Glittering Seas, and the Wonderbolts landed around it. They and Calaeno's crew gave a silent salute for Dash, uncertain if the pegasus would return. While it was another victory for the guardians of Equestria, they knew Grogar's forces were marshaled all over Equestria, currently attacking.

“A true, loyal soldier to the end,” said Calaeno who pursed her beak. She and her crew raised a drink in her honor.

Twilight and her inner circle bowed their heads, unable to believe one of the Elements of Harmony was lost. Worse, Dash';s human equivalent had perished with her. She couldn't help but think the price to stop Charlatan was far too high.

“Boo!” Rarity jumped and screamed, and Rainbow Dash fell from the sky, landed in the dirt on her back, and burst into laughter. “You should all see your faces! Did you really think I'd kick the bucket that easily?”

“You are the absolute worst,” said Rarity who stuck her snout in the air.

Pinkie sniffled and wiped her eyes. “I figured you'd turn up eventually!”

“Yep,” said AJ who put her stetson back in place. “Say, how 'bout a drink of cider?”

“Plenty to go around,” said Calaeno and her crew carried out barrels that foamed over. Pretty soon everypony was drinking, including the Wonderbolts, and some took the party into the lower decks, until a drunken orgy started to break out.

Twilight shook her head, and Rarity, Applejack, and Fluttershy declined, but Pinkie and Rainbow joined in, a mass of stallions and mares joining together in celebration. Dash decided to finally offer her team a shot with her, Spitfire, Soarin, Fleetfoot, and Thunderlane all eager for a long overdue piece of her. They hurried out of their sweaty costumes, and she grinned at them, taking the males into her lower holes who stuffed her full while she took turns going down on the females.

Pinkie dallied with random members of both sexes, content to help make everypony happier. The interior filled with sexual musk, the squelches and wet slap of taut and supple flesh, the mess of spilled cum and pussy nectar.

“How crude,” said Rarity who flicked her ears at the thumps below.

Fluttershy hid behind her mane. “It...it is a way to celebrate their survival,” she whispered.

AJ shook her head. “Bit too casual for me. I'd prefer somethin' a little more intimate.”

Twilight Sparkle stared at the skies as the sun was lowered and the moon rose to meet the stars. Her companions had quickly taken to their counterparts, but she still felt a divide, her human self still bitter and lost when she recalled what Adagio and Aria had done to the human Shining Armor. She'd been forced to let it go, but would always carry a grudge.

Was she right to hate them? Maybe it wasn't her place to say. The Dazzlings seemed like they wanted to redeem themselves, but nothing could bring him or their other victims back. She sighed and leaned on the ship's rail, hopeful Sunset's team fared well.

Sometime earlier...

From his vantage point in Tartarus, Grogar was able to oversee much of Equestria. He paced about the stones, grumbling, aware that many of his Elemental Titans had fallen. One of them, Florie the Titan of Nature, had crumbled into her components parts. “The spell to form her was botched,” he observed and pushed her Core which rested amidst the scattered flora. “Her shifting form and personality certainly didn't help. I suppose this result was inevitable.”

Lavan hovered nearby, flanked by an army of demons. “I swear to avenge her,” the leader of the Titans announced. “And the rest of my comrades!” The mass of hardened magma smoldered, standing on two legs but with a bestial face.

“Restrain your personal feelings,” warned Grogar who studied him with narrowed eyes. The goat pushed the Core forward. “There is a risk that consuming this will destroy you...or drive you insane. Are you willing to risk it?”

Lavan lifted it into his fist. “To complete our mission? Yes.” He shoved the sphere into his chest, and it vanished into him, the warmth of Florie radiant. “Be with me, my companions. This is the purpose we were created for, to serve our master.”

“Go then,” commanded Grogar and the Titan of Fire and Magma bowed and obeyed.

Grogar sat, seethed, and planned, aware the odds were no longer in his favor. Nearly all of Equestria had turned against him. He'd loosed most of his forces, unable to turn back from his course now that the trap had been sprung.

Neither noticed a small hooded and cloaked figure that watched from the shadows. “Fools.” Within slender hands rested a crystal ball, and in its contours swirled countless souls, a sheen cast by them that reflected off pale, cruel features...

*****

In a blink Sunny's party arrived. The Crystal Empire was besieged by Lavan, snow turning to steam wherever the Titan trounced, and the earth shook and bubbled under heavy footfalls. “Guess we're on our own,” she said and spat aside a half-eaten flower. “Uh, not used to this whole leadership thing, but Beatrix, can you create a distraction?”

“Leave it to me!” Beatrix Belladonna drew a few smoke bombs from her Ursa Minor-styled cloak.

“Good. Flash Sentry will be the muscle.” She winked at him. “You with us, Dazzlings?”

The trio nodded. “I'm not sure how helpful we'll be,” admitted Adagio who watched with them at a distance.

Aria slithered up beside her and shivered. “This serpentine body really doesn't like it here.”

“I'll keep you warm!” Sonata hugged her close as she could with a large smile.

“Thanks,” replied Aria, her twintails swirling in the snowstorm.

The crystal pony guards, led by Princess Cadance and Shining Armor, kept back and hurled magic beams at Lavan and the monsters around him in attempt to stifle their advance. Imprints that bubbled and smoked were left in the Titan's wake.

“Mother...?” Beatrix Belladonna beamed and pointed at Trixie's caravan. The trickster mage had taken her show on the road, and came to support with Starlight Glimmer in tow. “Take this,” said Beatrix who tossed her smoke bombs.

Thick clouds of colorful miasma erupted with a hiss from the bombs and enveloped Lavan and his demons. For the Titan it was at worst a mild inconvenience, but many of his more mindless minions panicked, and some even turned on each other in the chaos. Snarls sounded and they started to tear at their allies on instincts with teeth, stingers, and claws.

“Yo,” called Sunny who lit her horn and added to the barrage the magicians unleashed in a blinding storm. “Keep it up!” Beatrix supported the array of mystic lasers, while the Dazzlings followed Flash Sentry into more direct combat with the stray demons that had broken away from the group. “Yeah, that's it! Make sure to protect the civilians!”

While her party had been embedded with their counterparts, each had to choose which one took the 'lead', and Sunset Shimmer had entrusted her with this body. She tried not to balk under the pressure, determined to prove her faith wasn't misplaced, that she could be heroic, too! Thankfully, her companions all seemed eager to dive in with little direction from her.

“Sh-Shining,” mumbled Aria who threw up, unable to blot out memories of his counterpart's murder by she and Dazzle.

Adagio had a similar reaction, barely able to look upon him, despite how far away he was. Her eyes watered, and she shook violently, barely able to restrain an urge to run and hide. She beat her leathery wings with a low whimper.

“Sisters,” said Sonata who pulled them away from the battlefield. “He's not the same Shining! He probably doesn't even know!”

“W-we'll never be able to make up for our sins,” lamented Adagio with a choked sob.

Aria wiped her lips and shook her head. “Wrong. That's why we have to keep fighting! Even if it takes the rest of our lives!”

Sonata hopped in place. “That's the spirit! Now come on! The others need us!”

Sunny pursed her lips. “That freak's after the Crystal Heart! Maybe I can teleport him away?” Yet despite the constant onslaught on Lavan, he hurled back flames and magma, which Starlight barely blocked in time by raising a dome-like barrier. Smoke arose and lava slid down the invisible surface. “Damn it, no way we can get close! Hell, we can't touch him!”

“Destroy the Core and he's done for,” yelled Flash who dove with spear in hooves and impaled a demon in a spray of crimson.

“Easier said than done,” noted Beatrix with a shake of her head. “Almost out of smoke bombs, too.”

Dozens of crystal guards were half-buried in the snow, wounded or in some cases dead, the area stained in deep red splotches. The constant storm of lasers forced Lavan to raise his stony arms, and pushed him back inches, but he pressed on solely focused on the Crystal Heart in hopes that once it was shattered Equestria would further be hurled into bedlam.

“Maybe he wants to bring back the wendigos too,” muttered Sunny.

“Hey sisters,” whispered Sonata who pulled them close in a conspiratorial manner. “I've totes got a nifty idea!”

“Uh-oh,” said Aria in a lighthearted manner.

“Let's hear her out,” said Adagio. “Not like we have much to work with.”

After a short conversation the sisters nodded in unison. They began to sing, focused on Lavan, who paused momentarily. “Nice...try,” he said trying to shake off their spell. “But I'm far more ancient than you pitiful little sirens!”

His fists plunged into the earth and removed a heavy chunk, prepared to throw at the Dazzlings. Yet it was the momentary distraction they needed. The lasers continued to peel away his stony form, Beatrix hit him with her last smoke bombs in tandem with Trixie, and Flash Sentry hovered far above with his spear ready, while the mages started to channel magic into it.

The weapon hummed and glowed, pulsing and crackling, popping colored sparks. He waited until the last moment, aware that if it overloaded it would explode...and that even using such a weapon might mean his and his counterpart's end.

But he also knew his cocky counterpart was ready to make the ultimate sacrifice if necessary to save Equestria.

“Here goes,” he whispered and dive-bombed at Lavan. With both forehooves he hurled the spear, yelling and gritting his teeth, and it sailed like a blur. With an ear-piercing shatter the Core was torn from the Titan's chest and sailed away.

“I-impossible,” said Lavan who clasped at the empty hole in his chest.

Beatrix went wide-eyed. “Did it work...? No wait, the Core's still intact!”

Lavan turned and stomped towards the radiant sphere, unconcerned with the continued attack on him, and tossed hunks of molten magma he tore from his chest at the ponies who attempted to intercept him. They desperately tried to close the gap, Starlight, Cadance, and Sunny even tried to teleport in, but were forced to retreat at the lava which sailed their way.

Yet they knew that if he recovered the orb he would rebuild himself, Florie's power now merged with his own!

A number of demons suddenly manifested around it, and behind them floated a hooded, cloaked figure. Lavan desperately assaulted the new arrivals, which cooked and burst under the intense heat which made the air churn, but more arrived to bar his path. “Traitors,” he bellowed and focused on their mysterious summoner. “Who are you? Wait, you must be-”

“It's mine,” whispered the interloper who wrapped the Core up in an unusually powerful aura and drew it into the cloak folds.

Wait,” demanded Lavan but the stranger vanished in a blink. “Coward!” The proud Titan shook in impotence, and cracks spread across his bulk, and he crumbled with a boom. Lava flowed and pooled into a steamy mess amidst the snowfield.

Beatrix asked, “Who was that?”

Sunny shrugged and watched the remaining demons attempt to scatter, hunted down by the crystal pony guards. “We did it!”

Within mere moments the battle came to its end, the last invaders driven out or vanquished. Cadance and Shining Armor ordered their guards to collect and bury the dead, and invited everypony to a feast at the palace. They would soon be told of a similar victory over Charlatan, the Titan of Ice, Princess Twilight announcing that Grogar was now on the defnesive.

They drank and feasted, their other allies such as the Pillars, Twilight's entourage, Celestia, and Luna dealing with lesser demons scattered across Equestria. Most wanted to believe that with such decisive victories peace was close at hoof.

Yet Sunny sensed Sunset Shimmer's trepidation within her, that whoever had interrupted their battle might have a worse agenda in store for Equestria.

She paused between a drink of wine, seated at a table in the banquet hall, and shared a smile with Flash Sentry. Her eyes shifted over the Dazzlings and Beatrix Belladonna, proud that her team had served her well so far.

Another summit was called in Canterlot and everypony who fought in the war was invited to attend. Soon the streets spilled over with creatures, and Princess Twilight Sparkle watched from her perch, Celestia, Luna, and Cadance behind to support her.

“We've struck a powerful blow against Grogar,” she began speaking into her microphone. “The last of his Elemental Titans has fallen! And now, we must take the battle directly to Tartarus, and deal with his threat once-and-for all!”

Cheers exploded in unison. Hooves stomped and the area shook. Tears came to her eyes. She was so proud of them all, united in their cause, to protect the world they all loved. She spotted Sunny in the crowd and they shared a warm smile.

It would be the last night of rest before they invaded Grogar's domain. As such she tried to put Shining's Armor death behind her, his human counterpart another victim of Adagio's and Aria's, knowing that if the human and pony versions of herself that shared a body weren't in perfect harmony it would affect their performance.

And she needed to be in top shape when the time came. Her entourage returned to her, Spike and Tempest Shadow saluting in a clipped manner.

“No need for that. Tonight, everycreature's free to do whatever they wish.” She left he perch and they trailed after her all the way to the lab she'd allowed Sci-Twi to use, where she'd tortured the pair of Dazzlings in a fit of rage and madness.

She was the Princess of Friendship. Wasn't forgiveness supposed to be in her nature?

To distract herself she turned to her studies, and her companions snapped to assist her, which made her cast a smile their way despite her melancholy mood.

*****

Fireworks erupted all over. Sunny sat on a hilltop under a tree, pressed to its trunk, and Flash Sentry touched down from his flight, passing an ice cream cone to her, his own in a hoof. He paused to study the stars, moon, and colorful explosions that continuously popped. “Looks pretty lonely up here,” he said and settled by her. “Nice view, though.”

“Thanks,” she teased with a wink and took a slow lick. “Vanilla, yum. I love cream.”

“Glad I picked well. Ah?!” He yelped when she reached over and her ice cream slopped onto his crotch.

“Oh shoot,” she said innocently. “Guess I'll have to clean it up.” She spread his shivering legs, and dived between his strong thighs, kissing his stained sheathe and watching his dick start to rise with a chuckle.

“Uh, you don't have to do this-”

She met his eyes. “I know. I want to. We might all kick the bucket so why hold back?” She planted little pecks on his cock and balls, watched him swell to full erect, his horsemeat slapping her snout.

Slowly she dragged her tongue up-and-down, slurped up the runny cream with lewd slurps, determined to pay him back for being such a wonderful boyfriend-turned-stallion.

He trembled with a gasp, his cold groin now heated up. On instinct he bucked his hips a little into her face. His wings fluttered happily, met her large eyes that stared into his, her face swathed in a bright blush while she worked him over.

Sunny and Sunset both wanted to show both Flashes how much they were loved. In order to reclaim Shimmer's body they would have to claim the 'Coffin of Light and Darkness' where it was preserved from Grogar, a mission they might not return from.

Yet for the moment they could ignore all that. She bobbed her head, gradually increased her pace, dragged her tongue around his vein-lined tool and lapped it and his dark testicles clean. He groaned and kicked a back hoof, straining to hold it in.

“I-I'm close,” he warned as his face scrunched up.

Rather than relent she redoubled her efforts, taking him to the base. Grunting, closing his eyes, his cock pulsed and fired directly into her mouth and down her throat. She drank his slimy seed, which coated her tongue and stuck to the roof of her mouth, salty and tangy when it settled into her belly with a slosh.

Then she yanked free with a pop, closed an eye when more of his spurts splashed on her face, scooping them up with a hoof and drinking down each drop with a smirk.

“Thanks,” he wheezed. “Let me take care of you?”

She licked her chops clean. “Sure, whatever you like. Don't feel obligated, though.” She turned, and lowered her rump, using it to push him down until her ass and pussy rested on his face.

He inhaled her sweet musk with a flare of his nostrils, tasted droplets of her juices which dribbled down his snout, eager to be buried deep inside her hot pink foalhole.

Sinking his snout into her, he relished the sweet, tangy juices she dripped, while she in turn nursed his still erect stallionhood. Slurps sounded each time she swallowed him to the base, swishing her tongue around his pair, gently yanking his meat between her teeth. He mashed a hoof to the pink ring of her asshole, swishing circles around the puckered, puffy plothole.

Her tunnels clenched around him, and with a muffled mewl she squirted directly into his mouth. He drank it down, grunted and tapped her leg in warning, but she attacked him with more fury, moaning and blushing when he unloaded down her throat.

When he emptied the last droplets she popped off, turned over her shoulder with half-lidded eyes, and proudly opened her mouth wide, swishing and gargling his splooge which stuck to her gums and between her teeth.

Gulping it down with a smile, she said, “Hope you're satisfied. 'Course, if you're not, I could always go a few more rounds...” She wiggled her ample ass.

He withdrew his thoroughly wet muzzle. “I'm fine. You were great, like always.”

Sunny rolled off him and cuddled up to her lover. “Wonder what everypony else is up to?” She plucked a flower and munched it.

“Celebrating in their own way, I'm sure. I love you, Sunset. Both of you.” He cupped her cheek, staring into her eyes.

She rested her hoof over his. “We love you, too.” With Sunny's permission Sunset Shimmer took full control of their shared body, her eyes wet. “After what happened with Tirek and Sombra, I worried I'd never see any of you again. Truth is, if we can't free the part of me trapped in this 'Coffin of Light and Darkness' Grogar will probably absorb my soul to steal my powers.”

“We won't let that happen,” he swore pulling her close and stroking her mane.

The couple watched more fireworks erupt, Trixie Lulamoon and Beatrix Belladonna putting on a show from the wagon which had rolled out into a stage. Above the Wonderbolts, led by Rainbow Dash, added to the show leaving a blazing trail of colors behind them. Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie Pie danced with the crowds, while Fluttershy tended to the gathered animals.

Elsewhere the war continued, Grogar's forces scattered by Equestria's combined might. It was a rare moment of peace after recent events.

Perhaps the last they would experience, as tomorrow marked the start of the final campaign...

Entire armies stormed Tartarus from different directions. So that Equestria wouldn't be left undefended from the legions of demons that still stalked its surface, Celestia, Luna, and the Pillars defended the Canterlot region, the Crystal Empire protected the borders alongside a number of other allies such as Thorax and the changelings, while Calaeno and her crew and the Wonderbolts patrolled areas and were quick to respond whenever summoned to aid those in distress.

That left a number of teams able to venture into the underworld. One of these was led by Sunny, with Flash Sentry, the Dazzlings, and Beatrix Belladonna there to support their infiltration. She took tentative steps with her hooves, clops sounding with an echo over the rocky terrain, their shadows cast over the cavern walls and crawling along.

“Spooky,” mumbled Sunny who gnashed her teeth.

Beating his wings to stay afloat, Flash planted a supportive hoof on her shoulder. “You up for this?”

“Yeah, leave it to me.” She shot him a sly smile and winked. “Question is, are you?” She reached up and smacked his ass.

He smirked back and rubbed the hoof mark he left on his muscular rump. Under a forehoof he carried a large spear, and followed her trot through a maze of caves, enjoying the way she swished her tail, ample hips, and buttocks with her walk.

Sonata tittered. “Frisky, aren't we?”

“It's because we all might die,” noted Aria whose snake tail left a slick trail when she slid over the rocks. “A little fucking makes you feel alive. Half the time it was all I could think about when we were turned into vampires.”

Adagio sailed beside her sisters with leathery wings. “It's still constantly on my mind. I mean, sirens are naturally sensuous creatures, and now that I'm a succubus on top of that? I could fuck to the end of the world,” she admitted.

“Shame there's no time for that,” said Sonata with a shrug. “Maybe when we get back?”

“If we do,” broke in Beatrix. “Don't mean to be a downer, but Grogar's the most ancient evil in Equestria, right?”

“Can't be much worse than Sombra and Tirek,” muttered Aria with a grumble.

Sunny pushed aside a stone with a clink, surprised they hadn't been attacked yet. “Wonder how Twilight's group is faring...?”

*****

A beam erupted from Twilight Sparkle's horn tip and seared through a demon that scurried her way. Reduced to a charred skeleton, droves of various creatures poured in their direction, as she chose her team to directly barrel down the gates while Sunny was sent to infiltrate from a longer but she surmised much safer route. She was aided by Tempest Shadow, who united her magic blast with the Princess', and a cone of hellish flame that hurtled from Spike's open maw with a whoosh.

Her personal circle launched their own attack, Rainbow Dash from the air with Fluttershy behind her taking potshots with a crossbow. A colorful blur sped behind Dash when she speared them, shafts zipping by and pinning monsters to the caves.

“I'll set you free,” promised Shy who spotted beasts encased in the cages.

Dash asked, “Are you insane? These aren't common animals, you know!”

“They don't deserve to be here!” Shy knocked another arrow and let it fly with a thunk. “They'll listen to me!”

“Sure hope so,” muttered Dash who winced, pushed. Much as she hated to admit it, she hadn't recovered from the last Sonic Rainboom she'd performed which had nearly burnt her out, her muscles sore despite the brave face she put on.

Pinkie Pie plucked up pebbles, ignited them with the ability of her human counterpart until they hummed and vibrated amidst a cloud of energy, and rapidly let them fly. “Whoo-hoo,” she cried when they erupted into colorful explosions that scattered shrill, shrieking demons. “This is almost fun! Except I can't stop thinking about what's at stake!”

“All the more reason to get it done,” yelled back Applejack who landed a backwards kick on a lamia that closed in. A spine snapped with a crunch under her hooves, able to call on her human portion's super strength.

Rarity summoned up constructs to block attacks and press her own when she said, “These geodes certainly are useful.” They had bonded with them after human and pony doubles united, which effectively multiplied their power many times.

“Trouble is they'll wear us out faster too,” said AJ who twirled her lasso and pulled a gargoyle from the air. It smashed to the floor and exploded into fragments of granite. “Better make the most of 'em, while we're still able.”

Tossing open the gates Fluttershy watched the amalgam animals spill out and called, “You're free! Um, I hate to ask this, but...will you help us? You will? Oh, thank you! You understand Grogar threatens all of Equestria, don't you?”

The beasts surrounded Shy, hybrids which some speculated were the result of experimentation by magic that fused them together. Since they were prone to loss of control Celestia had regrettably sealed them away in Tartarus until she could think up some way to permanently restore them. However, Shy was certain that through her care they could be tamed.

Tempest waved a hoof. “We're almost in! Now we'll be able to head into the maze proper!”

Spike flew above and puffed his belly, another blaze loosed. It crackled and smoked, drove the demons back. “There's no end to them, though! Heck, there could be hundreds or even thousands of them down here! Can we really make it in?”

“Maybe not,” admitted Twilight who unleashed more beams. “If we can't, it will be up to Sunny's team.” However she felt about the Dazzlings, she had faith they could pull it off. And even if they sacrifice themselves to stop Grogar, it wouldn't redeem what they'd done to her brother in her eyes. Yet to save Equestria, she tried damn hard to put aside her personal feelings!

*****

Snorting, Grogar hovered next to the 'Coffin of Light and Darkness' where the body of Sunset Shimmer rested ever since it had been rescued from certain oblivion. To have her condemn to soul oblivion or eternal torture like Sombra and Tirek seemed a cruel twist of fate. Yet he and Shadow Scythe hadn't rescued her for altruistic reasons. He desired her power, hoped to siphon it and add her potential to his own, certain that were she also an alicorn her power would rival Twilight's.

His bell was lost forever, destroyed in ancient times. His Elemental Titans had fallen in battle. Now his enemies had him pinned and he merely had his army of demons to call upon. “Make me understand,” he groaned and ran a hoof over the casket's polished surface. “How do I open you? I remove one magical barrier after another, and yet feel no closer!”

He stomped with another snort that flared his nostrils and tried to calm himself. Rage wouldn't get him anywhere. He calmly considered his limited options. “I could cut and run...like a lowly coward. No, I refuse. Somehow, I'll shatter the barricades in time.” His curved horns flared when he prepared another powerful spell to brute force his way through.

A feminine voice called, “Troubled I see?”

“Who's there?! Show yourself, whelp.” Cautiously he studied the dimly-lit cave. Laughter echoed and a shadow danced about.

Her voice mocked him when she said, “Don't tell me you've forgotten me so soon.” A hooded and cloaked figure hovered above him. “It never would have come to this, if you hadn't betrayed me and sent one of your Titans to slay me!”

“You. A mere thorn in my side, now that you've served your purpose,” he bellowed with a deep voice.

“Hee hee...” The unicorn raised her hands, opened portals around her, and from the holes she tore in reality dropped the corpses of similar cloaked figures, who tumbled to the floor with a thunk. “My fellow reapers. I've claimed their power, too!”

“This shouldn't be possible,” he snarled. “How did you suddenly become this powerful? Even with the souls you claimed-”

Casting back her hood, Shadow Scythe pulled open the chest portion of her robes, revealed the Core of the Elemental Titans she'd embedded into herself. “Recognize this? The same one that Lavan used to have! Now I'm more powerful than you were at your height!” She cackled, eyes wide, crazed with megalomania. She'd kept low for some time while both sides were distracted, slipped in and taken the opportunities presented, certain that with time and patience it would all pay dividends.

“You're an upstart! Nothing!” His head bowed when a barrage of magic thundered from his glowing horns.

She giggled and blinked out of his path. Again-and-again he fired, and she danced about, the ram unable to touch her. The caverns shook under the blasts, portions of the wall exploded into rocky chunks, and pebbles fell in a cloud of dust.

Shadow Scythe's aura wrapped around her scythe which sailed behind her former ally, and it swiped with a loud ring. For a moment Grogar stared her down, unable to move, and a thin red line appeared across his neck, until his head toppled and rolled. She swooped down to collect it while his body toppled and blood rushed from the wounds.

“A clean cut,” she observed. “I'll take your power now, thank you. I'm pretty much part demon now, too!”

Glazed eyes stared back at her. “Y-you'll never succeed,” he choked out through bloodied lips.

“We'll see! Well, I will.” She watched his eyes go hollow and dropped the bloodied head. Her attention turned to the 'Coffin of Light and Darkness', as already she felt Grogar's magical energies flow into her own, his remains alight when his potential was drawn into the Core embedded in her breast. It crackled and hummed, alight with fresh energies.

“Heh, I control the portals now. And who knows? Beatrix Belladonna can manipulate her own, but it's wasted on her. What's the point of power if one doesn't exploit it?” She hummed to herself and started her attempt to crack the barriers around the coffin. “After I slaughter Beatrix and steal her power, I'll be able to bring entire dimensions to heel!”

Already she could see it. First Equestria. Then that strange world filled with humans...

It felt like the walls themselves had eyes, watching them from every direction. Sunny bristled in the dim caverns that continued their hellish descent into the abyss. The air grew thick, muggy, rolled under the heat waves. She resisted an urge to chow down more flowers, her stomach already stuff to the brim, and instead pressed closer to where Flash Sentry sailed next to her.

Between him, the Dazzlings, and Beatrix Belladonna, not to mention Sunset Shimmer's might combined with her own, what did she really have to worry about? The Elemental Titans had been dealt with, and surely Grogar couldn't be worse than them, especially since his fabled bell had supposedly been destroyed in ancient times? So why did she feel a sense of dread...?

To break her nervousness she asked over her shoulder, “So...what will you three sisters do once we win?”

“Depends on if we're really free,” said Aria. “I'm willing to pay for my crimes here, if that's what Twilight wants.”

“No!” Sonata stomped a hoof and sent a stone flying. “Rotting in a place like this won't bring Shining Armor back!”

“We're still responsible,” admitted Adagio who stared into the gaping maw of a cave beyond, the stalactites and stalagmites like teeth. “To be honest, when Sunset first purified us, it was so painful I was tempted to immediately turn back to my old ways. I figured we were beyond redemption, so I might as well double-down on what we'd already done. I wanted to run away.”

“But you couldn't abandon us!” Sonata beamed wide.

“No, I couldn't. It would be a betrayal of what I lived for. To avenge my siren sisters on those who abused us. We could be the last three. Equestria might remember our kind as nothing more than evil. Sonata, the weight of your crimes is far less than ours. Maybe you can redeem our reputation, with time? If we're still immortal...” Adagio brushed her cheek.

“I-I'll try,” swore Sonata with a salute of a hoof and a sniffle.

Aria nodded. “I know it's a lot to ask. We don't deserve it. I treated you terribly, insulted and hit you.... That's what hurts me most, more than the lives I've taken.” She shook when Sonata held her.

Beatrix broke in, “How about this? Say you three are free to do what you want. I don't have to leave this dimension immediately. Maybe we could travel around Equestria, see the sights, do some good deeds on the way?”

Flash smirked. “Sounds like a plan. We're invited too, right?”

“Of course!” Beatrix winked. “Something low-key. Think I've had enough of saving the world for now!”

“I'm in,” said Sunny. “I wanted to explore this place, but fighting Titans wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Hoped for something a little more laid back, like a tan on a nude beach.” She shot a sideways grin at Flash.

“I want to bring Inky Rose too,” said Beatrix. “She must feel pretty lost and alone here!”

Sonata bounced on her hooves. “Hooray! The more, the merrier!” She swished her tail about.

Despite their reservations the group remained blissfully unaware that Shadow Scythe observed their every move. She allowed them to close in, concentrated her forces on the other groups that attacked Tartarus, while the infiltration team walked straight into her trap.

Soon they would cross the final threshold, and there would be no hope to turn back...

*****

It felt like the entire horde poured down on Twilight Sparkle's party, and despite their power they began to tire under the onslaught, gradually forced to withdraw. She realized that stunt Rainbow Dash had pulled to beat a Titan had taken more out of her than she'd let on, that the act had almost burned her out completely and she'd barely had time to recover.

Around them were littered the remains of countless demons. “Just...a little more,” huffed Dash who slowed by the moment.

Applejack shook her head. “You'd best beat a retreat, sugarcube. The rest of us'll handle this!”

“Hey, I don't plan to hold you back!” Dash swayed, strained to focus, and winced when her body shimmered, both versions of herself divided with a pop. With her power spent Discord's Chaos Magic wore off the two intertwined pegasi. They crumpled from the air, AJ leaped to catch one on her back, while Fluttershy scooped up her human counterpart.

“Not good,” said Twilight who zapped more creatures to push them away. “We're down one of our strongest warriors!”

Pinkie Pie frowned, charged up a boulder, and it exploded in a spectacular cloud that buried a portion of the tunnel to buy them time. A rumble continued to sound when she said, “I think she'll be okay! But what now? Do we abort the mission?”

“Unthinkable,” said Rarity. “Too many depend on us! Perhaps we can meet up with one of the other teams?”

“I'll handle Dash,” said Tempest. “Once that's dealt with, I'll try to return with reinforcements!” She wrapped both Dashes in her aura and teleported out with a blink, a tricky feat in Tartarus which attempted to disrupt such magic.

“Another powerful soldier we needed,” lamented Twilight. “But you're right, Rarity, we have to join up with one of the other units! It's our only hope!” She recalled the other directions they were mounting their own assaults. “There!” She charged up a blast, let fly with a loud zap, and the rocks crumbled in a cloud of dust to reveal another passageway.

Fluttershy perked her ear to listen when a manticore rumbled. “What's that? You can smell our allies up ahead? Oh, thank you.” She beamed. “Come on, this way!” She waved a hoof and sailed in the air.

The party followed her lead. Trots and the scratch of claws echoed down the uneven tunnels. The distant sounds of battle soon intensified, Royal Guardsmen called by the hundreds to help storm Tartarus, a number of them slain in their desperate bid to hold the line. The Elements of Harmony and Spike raced to their aid, determined to turn the tide of battle.

*****

Shadow Scythe watched the drama unfold with a series of eyes she manifested about Tartarus with a tsk. “So many lives lost. And for what? To feed my growing power!” Each soul, slain by a demon, was consumed by Equestria's now soul reaper. They amplified her, little-by-little, prepared her to accomplish what her slain partner had ultimately failed to.

She'd cracked several barriers that protected the 'Coffin of Light and Darkness' but still couldn't broach it completely. No, she still needed more. Perhaps Sunny was the final key she needed? She observed Sunny's team, who was now less than a mile away, made certain that no demons would come between them, nor would any unwanted intruders interrupt.

A short time later the tell-tale clops sounded. “There it is!” Sonata pointed with a hoof.

“Careful,” warned Adagio who darted her eyes about the cavern. “Grogar could be anywhere!”

“Or maybe there's a trap,” said Aria. “I doubt he'd leave this place unprotected!”

Observing them unseen, thanks to an invisibility spell she could now easily work, Shadow Scythe waited and watched them approach the 'Coffin of Light and Darkness'. They looked about, saw Sunset Shimmer trapped under the coffin, and the reaper was laser-focused on Sunny and Beatrix in particular, certain that once she claimed their souls she would be nigh unstoppable.

Sunny traced a hoof over the casket's surface. “Looks like Grogar couldn't break the barriers. Think he hopes we'll do it?”

“Sounds like it,” said Flash with a nod. “Are you out there right now, watching us?”

“We could flush him out,” called Sonata. “Right, sisters?! A little song and-”

A whoosh sounded, Shadow Scythe's weapon hurled in a blur that broke its invisibility spell. Sonata's eyes widened, and tried to hop away, but realized it was way too fast. Another blur whipped by her. Feathers erupted. Blood splashed. Screams sounded.

“Wh-what...?” Sonata was knocked on her back, and stared up at Flash Sentry, limp atop her with a deep gash in his midsection. He winced and slumped atop her, barely able to push her out of the way and bleeding out with choked breaths.

“No,” cried Sunny who stared up at the source and watched the bloodied scythe return. “Shadow Scythe?!”

The reaper glared back, her scythe readied for another toss, determined to deal with the Dazzlings before they could sing their song, just in case it actually worked on her. A second attack was hurled at Sonata and Flash again, only for a blast from Sunny's horn at her full power to barely knock the blade aside with a ring. “Tch,” muttered the cloak figure whose own horn flared.

Sunny demanded, “Where's Grogar?!”

“Dead. As you all soon will be,” replied Shadow Scythe who fired off a storm of lasers that rippled about. Sunny raised a barrier to deflect them, her snout drawn and pushed to the limit to keep up. Blinks sounded in splashes of color while the pair teleported about the chamber, spells exchanged in flashy bursts, the rest of them barely able to keep up.

“Sunset...Sunny...they're amazing,” mumbled Flash who struggled to keep his eyes open.

“Don't talk! You shouldn't have done that for me,” choked out Sonata who clumsily attempted to patch his wounds with what she could find in their packs. “Don't you dare die! I-I couldn't live with myself if I knew you died for me...”

“He's hit bad. Could be a mortal wound,” said Aria who shook her head.

Adagio tied some bandages around his midsection and closed the binds with her teeth. “You're one of the few who seems to believe in us, Flash. Despite all we've done. That means you're our friend, too.”

He managed a weak smile, rested his head in Sonata's lap and closed his eyes.

“I'll look after him,” volunteered Beatrix. “Shame only Sunny can teleport, but if things look bad I could always open a rift to another dimension and take him somewhere safer? How about somewhere he can get proper medical attention?”

Shadow Scythe narrowed her eyes, determined not to let her prize escape. “You're not going anywhere!” Summoning the strength contained within the Cores, they shimmered and hummed in her breast, multiplied her power many times over, and she blinked past Sunny faster than she could react despite how much she poured into her most potent spells.

The reaper appeared behind the witch, who froze. A scythe flashed. More hot, sticky blood splashed over Flash Sentry...

Chapter 17

The flash of a blade scythed through Beatrix Belladonna's back, shredded through furred skin and muscle, washed her attacker in a gush of hot blood. Laughter erupted from Shadow Scythe, her maw drawn in a malicious grin, the dying body slumping before her as she used her power as a reaper to draw in the shimmery orb of a soul that escaped the mortally wounded flesh.

The reaper clasped the sphere to her bosom, blinked away from the beams that Sunny desperately fired her way. “It's mine,” she announced upon her reappearance above them. The warm spirit settled into her breast. In demonstration she used a hoof to draw a circle in the air, sliced a rift between realities that swirled, caught more magic lasers that hissed towards her.

“Damn it,” muttered Sunny who scrunched up her snout and blinked watery eyes. Two of her soldiers had fallen and their enemy was better off than before. “We don't have a choice! We have to retreat and return with help!”

“Think I'll let you do that?” Shadow Scythe fired off another blast that Sunny barely countered. The beams collided in a colorful explosion that shook the entire cavern and dislodged loose stones in a cloud of dust.

“D-don't open more than one portal at once,” mumbled Beatrix through half-lidded eyes, the richness fading out of her coat and leaving her monochrome while life rapidly slipped from her. “Do so, and...and this whole dimension will collapse on you...”

Shadow Scythe scoffed. “Thanks for the warning. Shame you won't be around to see how to properly use those powers!”

With a nod between them the Dazzlings stood around Flash Sentry's unconscious form in a circle and began to sing in harmony while their enemy was distracted. The serene song washed over the area, gave them all pause, even Shadow Scythe, for all the power she'd absorbed from creatures and Titans alike, unable to completely resist its seductive lure.

“Ah...bastards...” The reaper groaned, frozen in place, shaken. She willed herself to break their hold, called more and more on the Cores of Titans trapped in her, and the air itself started to violently vibrate about the quaking interior.

With a wave of her hoof and flare of her horn she wrapped her aura around the Dazzlings, snarled, and swept them up. They wailed and were unceremoniously tossed into the nexus she'd opened, which she closed with another wave.

Sunny went wide-eyed. “Where did you send them?!”

“Who knows? Maybe the same place Beatrix traveled last. Could be a hell dimension for all I know!” She cackled.

“Grr!” Without thinking Sunny leaped and tackled her. She slammed her to the rocks, and they rolled over, wrestling as she attempted to pin her down. She lashed out a hoof, smashed her across the maw, felt a bloodied spray and the crunch of bone.

“How dare you!” Another magical blast arose from Shadow Scythe and hurled her away. Sunny smacked into a wall with a crack, whimpered and shaken, the air stinking with the singe of fur. “Oh, I'm going to enjoy killing you...”

She charged her horn to the point where it quivered. Sunny hopped up, wobbled on her hoovers, and broke into a mad gallop. She dove and the reaper tracked her, snarled and loosed a thunderous blast of woven together elements, putting all the power she could store into it. Sunny dived behind the 'Coffin of Light and Darkness' as the explosion struck home.

The area went white. There was a shatter so loud a ring sounded in their ears.

When the momentarily blinded opponents were able to refocus, the 'Coffin of Light and Darkness' was a demolished ruin, Sunset Shimmer's body loosed from it...and reunited with Sunny who radiated with their combined power.

“Clever. But it won't save you. You two are still no match for me,” snapped Shadow Scythe.

Sunny's horn shined and she lanced through a wall. The caves collapsed further in, and she bored tunnels to their other scattered allies to lead them here. “There's nowhere left to run. Unless you plan to punk out into that rift, chickenshit?”

“Not a chance.” Shadow Scythe waved and closed the nexus. “You're right. Let's finish this!”

Their battle resumed in another series of thunderous, blinding magical explosions and beams. Sunny knew she had to win for many reasons. Because Equestria and all other realities were threatened. Because she wanted to save Flash Sentry and avenge Beatrix. Because without her intervention the Dazzlings might be lost forever in some random dimension.

Most of all, because Sunset Shimmer believed in her, and she couldn't bear to let her down!

*****

“We're too late!” Twilight Sparkle stormed into their enemy's lair with her remaining team and the surviving units of Royal Guards. She galloped to Flash's side, attention half-focused on the battle between Sunny and Shadow Scythe. Cradling the wounded stallion to her, she noted Beatrix's corpse with a shake of her head, and the broken 'Coffin of Light and Darkness'.

“Where the heck is Grogar?” Applejack's eyes darted about. “Don't tell me he got away!”

“No,” wheezed out Sunny who sweated and clenched her teeth, concentrating to keep up with her opponent, the light show reflecting off the cave walls. “Shadow Scythe killed him, and stole his power! Beatrix too! And she banished the Dazzlings!”

“How the-” Twilight tried to process the rapid revelations. “It doesn't matter! Fluttery, look after Flash! Let's take her down!”

“You said it!” Pinkie Pie scooped up more pebbles, made them glow, and tossed them at the reaper.

“Pests.” Shadow Scythe nonetheless was forced to divide her concentration between her assailants, who attempted to attack her from all sides. She raised barriers to deflect spells, fired her own back, forced her opponents to scatter.

The stolen Cores in her breast burned brighter and hotter, pushed to their absolute limits. Twilight and Rarity added their own woven spells to Sunny's, empowered it, helped by the unicorn Royal Guards who tried to push back Scythe's wide beam.

“Too...much...” Rarity paled, known more for her defensive spells, and even with two of them combined she struggled to keep up with the sheer display of power. Her eyes half closed, and her knees shook, barely able to stay on her hooves.

“Hold on!” Spike beat his wings above the reaper, his belly swelled with an inferno, and he unleashed a cone of flame.

Blinks erupted and Tempest Shadow arrived with the promised reinforcements, which included the Pillars and more Royal Guards. Shadow Scythe started to laugh at their pathetic attempt, only to snarl with the renewed barrage that hurled her way. She expanded her power, felt her chest throb with the stolen Cores, almost like her ribcage was ready to burst.

“Fools! All of you!” She raised her arms with a shriek, loosed a fresh explosion that tossed her attackers about. Many were thrown into the walls or skittered across the rocky terrain, bowled over by a display that rivaled Twilight's battle with Tirek.

A whimper escaped Rarity who fainted. Spike yelped and one of his wings crunched. Pinkie flipped over backwards several times and her head collided with a wall, rendered unconscious when she slumped down with a murmur.

“Whoa nelly,” cried AJ whose forehooves clung to a stalactite, muscles drawn taut. “What now?”

Sunny watched the reaper's breast glow, the Cores now visible under her ribs below the cloak that fluttered about. “I have an idea,” she whispered to Twilight. Rather than explain, she touched hooves with her, and their eyes went white. Between Sunset Shimmer and her counterpart their potential had expanded it, and with it the empathic abilities they shared.

Rapidly she passed her plan to the Princess of Friendship. After the flash ended, a nod was shared between them.

Chapter 18

Attacked from all directions, Shadow Scythe called on the full extent of her stolen powers to keep pace. Most of all she focused on Sunny, Twilight Sparkle, and Tempest Shadow, the three who came closest to closing the gap between them...but they were still no match for her. They too were pushing themselves to the limit, visibly shaking and sweating at the effort.

The Cores in her violently shook in her ribcage, threatened to crack it under the oscillation. Her face continued to maliciously twist, driving them back with her beams that flashed out, aware that she had them on the defensive.

“What now?” The reaper mocked them, satisfied they had no cards left to play. Oh sure, they could call in more reinforcements, but if such heavy-hitters struggled and failed to match her, what chance would any other creature have even in numbers?

Sunny's maw twisted in a lazy smile, despite the fact that they were obviously at a disadvantage. The reaper bristled in irritation, charged up another particularly powerful blossom of magic, and prepared to nuke them once-and-for-all.

Hopefully, after the pieces of their bodies were cast about, she'd have time to collect their souls and with it their might.

“Wh-what-?” Suddenly Shadow Scythe's torso stretched, and her spell threatened to sputter out in a series of sparks. The Cores within her began to boil and smolder, flesh and fur cooked with a sickening sizzle, and she shrieked.

She was forced to pull away from the beam that connected with her own. Their blast rocketed into the ceiling behind her, smashed into the stone and cast chunks about, and the reaper floated away, writhing and screaming.

“What in tarnation...” Applejack shook her head.

“She can't handle that much power on her own,” explained Sunny. “Few creatures could.”

“Especially when she stole it,” added Twilight. “They're still conscious in her, fighting for dominance...”

From the reaper's flesh partially ripped free Grogar, who grumbled and trashed amidst the bloodied spray, his horned head poking out as he attempted to fully pull free. From another portion tore out Lavan, rocky head poking out, bubbling over with molten magma. She whimpered and tore at herself, flesh tearing, melting, and regenerating with steady rapidness.

The onlookers stared, and Shadow Scythe snarled between pained cries, to proud to plead for help. “B-bastards...!”

“What do we do,” asked Pinkie Pie. “Let her burn out?”

“Pretty much,” said Sunny who if she hadn't given up smoking would have lit a cigarette in celebration. Instead she plucked another flower from her pack and munched on it,thankful that Sunset's simple but brilliant plan seemed to be working.

Suddenly a black, tentacled mass tore its way from her abdomen, where Shadow Scythe's womb lined up. She howled, the creature thrashing and slithering, its slimy tendrils lined in shifting, almond-shaped eyes that bled, and bloodied lips filled with serrated teeth that drooled red. The watchers instinctively drew back from the hissing abomination.

AJ cradled Rarity's unconscious form and cried, “Okay, now I've seen it all! What in the heck is that thing?”

“It's called the Demiurge,” explained Sunny who backed up with the rest of them. “Beatrix didn't really talk about it, but I touched her and used Sunset's power to check her out, just to make sure she was really on our side. I feel bad about that, but I had to make sure. Think of it like a background check. Anyhow, short story is it's part of her.”

“I don't understand,” said Twilight who watched in fascination as the creature tried to pull itself free.

“She's connected to a grimoire called the Necronomicon, and from what she believes, that monster's the real her under that cute appearance. It's also why she can tear rifts between dimensions. Anyhow, improperly separated from her, well, it doesn't know what to do with itself. Ah,” she cried when the Demiurge finally yanked itself free in a massive spray of blood.

Shadow Scythe slumped to the floor, Grogar and Lavan going limp. At the same time the Demiurge crawled with a slurping noise across the rocky terrain, over to Beatrix Belladonna, and slithered down her throat, making her body shake.

Her maw frothed with blood. She went into convulsions, until the mass somehow stuffed its entirety into the witch's small form, and she coughed up blood and mucus, blinking awake hazy eyes. “Wh-what happened,” she whispered.

“You died. And got better,” answered Sunny with a wink.

Shadow Scythe was barely conscious, the partially torn loose forms of Grogar and Lavan slumped from her torn torso pulled back into her. She sat huddled in a daze, surrounded by her tattered and burnt robes, her scythe discarded near her. The embedded Cores within her were shattered, and from her arose a storm of stolen souls, which fluttered away.

Pinkie stared at them. “Ooh, pretty! Where will they go?”

“Where they belong,” said Tempest Shadow. “She's practically powerless now.”

“Still indestructible though,” noted Twilight. “And with her abilities, we can't just banish her to Tartarus.”

“We could have her powers stripped,” offered Sunny with a shrug.

Beatrix rose to her hooves with a smirk. “I have a better idea. Plus, I need to bring the Dazzlings back, anyhow. It seems like a fair exchange.” Rather than explain herself she drew a circle in the air, cut a hole that formed a swirling bluish-white nexus, and lighting her horn used her aura to wrap up the trio that had been cast in and draw them back to her.

Trotting past the bewildered Dazzlings, Beatrix said, “Be back soon!” She then trapped Shadow Scythe in her aura, stepped into the portal, and it closed behind her with a soft buzz. For a moment those present stared at the empty space now left behind.

“We're back,” cried a teary-eyed Sonata who hugged her sisters and nuzzled them. “Hey, what about Flash-?”

“He'll be fine,” assured Tempest Shadow. “I delivered him to Nurse Redheart, and he's receiving the best medical treatment.”

“That's a relief,” said Aria who wiped her brow. “So, is it finally over?”

“Looks like it,” said Adagio. “Well, I suppose there are plenty of demons left out there to round up...”

Twilight nodded. “My duties never end. Every creature who can't or doesn't want to fight anymore, you're free to head home. The rest of you, ready to help clean this up?” Nods, stomps of hooves, and an eruption of cheers met their Princess.

They galloped back into the maze of caves, where a menagerie of monsters waited to do battle with them. Sunny smirked at Twilight, running at her side, the Dazzlings close behind, flanked by Princess' entourage, the Pillars, and sizable platoons of Royal Guards. Hooves and claws thundered with an echo throughout the stony terrain.

Without a leader to guide them many of the demons reverted to wild beasts driven by sheer instinct. Howls, hisses, growls, and snaps sounded, teeth, claws, and stingers bared, some of them even fighting amongst themselves in an all-out brawl.

Sharing a nod between them, the heroes joined the fray, determined to break the last line of resistance.

A portion of stone floated through the vastness of space. Stars glittered in the distance, the surroundings cool, despite a magic barrier that encased the small island that enabled the two occupants to breathe. Beatrix looked upon her fallen foe, snout drawn somewhere between contempt and pity. “You're too dangerous to simply roam free, I'm afraid.”

“So what? You'll banish me here forever?” Shadow Scythe curled her maw, still huddled and helpless in her cloak.

“I...don't know. Maybe I'll come back for you, eventually. Could be any number of years. I'll have to think it over.” She shook her head. The witch's features softened after a moment. “Want to know why I decided to visit here?”

“Not really...but I suppose you'll tell me anyhow,” she replied with a nasty pout.

“The Necronomicon ended up here once. Don't ask how, it's not important. Anyhow, I came to see if it had really been destroyed, as this place was set to collide with either a meteor or the sun, whichever it reached first. Couldn't find a scrap of evidence it was ever here, though. Last place I visited, so I guess this is where you cast the Dazzlings for a while.”

The reaper ground her teeth impatiently. “Is there a point to this story?”

“The point is, if it's still here you should hopefully be safe for quite a while, maybe forever! I know it seems a cruel twist of fate, but after you killed me, not to mention all the other stuff you did and planned to do, well, it's practically merciful. Sorry, I didn't want to gloat.” She wanted to believe the reaper could still be saved, but doubted she was open to that.

But who knows? After quite some time in solitude perhaps she would be more open to redemption.

“Screw you! I'll find a way out of this, somehow, and I'll make sure you all suffer a thousand-fold!” She shook a hoof at her, snarled, her eyes wet by bitter tears. Shaking her head, Beatrix drew a circle to reopen a nexus between worlds.

After a last look back, heart gnawed by guilt, Belladonna stepped through and closed the rift behind her.

“Hooray! Road trip!” Sonata bounced atop her hooves. Gathered with her fellow travelers on a hilltop, the party overlooked Equestria where another peaceful day dawned over the land. Weeks after the battle with the remainders of Grogar's forces ended, the last demons had been driven back into the depths of Tartarus and sealed deep below the earth.

“Figured you'd be all for that,” said Beatrix Belladonna with a wink. Her wide-brimmed witch hat and starry cloak partially shaded her from the sun which rose over the area, the skies a soft blue. “Let's enjoy the moment, shall we?”

“Thanks for inviting me along,” said Inky Rose who wore a spiderweb dress over her tall frame. She'd paid another visit to a club Pacific Glow frequented to watch her from afar one last time, misty-eyed every time she remembered the version of her, who she considered a sister, now lost to her forever. “I...don't know what to do with myself now.”

“You'll settle in over time,” promised Adagio who had chosen to keep her succubus shape, despite a reluctant offer from Twilight Sparkle to fix her and Aria, who also retained her lamia shape. “If we Dazzlings can do it, any creature can.”

“We're still not really welcome in many places,” admitted Aria. “But Equestria's a large place. I want to see it all.”

Above them Flash Sentry beat his wings. He'd separated from his Equestrian counterpart, who decided to stay behind and try to rekindle his romance with Twilight and Tempest Shadow, who were constantly busy. “Glad I was able to recover so quickly.” He rubbed the area where he'd been slashed up. “To be honest, I was sure I wouldn't make it.”

“Of course you'd be happy to be the lone stallion with a bunch of cute mares,” teased Sunny who grinned. He blushed but didn't comment, unable to stop his eyes from wandering to their ample rumps on occasion. “Right, Sunset?”

“Huh? Oh yeah.” Sunset Shimmer had been lost in thought, given a second chance at life. She turned to them, a warm smile on her snout.”You've all done me proud. I want to see my friends back in the human world, but they can wait. Everyone else who returned through the mirror told them I'm okay, so hopefully they won't worry. But I need some time for myself.”

“If anyone's earned it, it's you.” Sunny hugged her double, unable to hold back a choked sob.

“H-hey now.” Sunset stroked her mane. “Everything's okay. Sure, some thing's can't ever be undone.” The Dazzlings bowed their heads, aware that the human Twilight might never be able to forgive Adagio and Aria. “We've all made mistakes, and this is a chance to see Equestria, maybe make up for them by helping whoever we happen to meet along the way.”

Sniffling Sunny said, “Sounds good!” Grass speckled with dew glittered as the sun fully rose. A gentle breeze swept over the travelers, who waited near a tree, the stirring Ponyville visible in the distance. It would be their last visit for some time.

Under the decree of Twilight, Luna, and Celestia, the Dazzlings had been cleared of their crimes and allowed to roam free in Equestria, on the condition that they did no harm, something the trio readily agreed to. Grogar and his Elemental Titans had vanished back into the ether upon their demise, all the doubles had separated, and Discord promised to return someday.

Portions of Equestria were still in the process of being rebuilt, helped by the Pillars and the Wonderbolts. Allies such as the Crystal Empire and Thorax chipped in their resources to speed the world's swift recovery.

“So...” Beatrix chewed her lower lip. She'd visited this dimension's version of her mother, Trixie Lulamoon, one last time, considered asking to borrow her wagon, and thought better of it, aware it might not return intact if they ran into trouble. “Where to first?” She unfolded a map of the known world, some places barely explored by pony kind.

“I would like to see Saddle Arabia,” admitted Inky. “I'm fascinated by their fashion. It inspires me.”

Sonata squealed in delight and swished her tail. “You think they have tacos there?!”

“Probably the veggie kind,” said Aria with a smirk and shake of her head. “Some things never change, huh?”

Adagio flew beside her sisters. She'd raised them like she was their mother. Selfishly used them in her war to avenge the siren race. Yet despite the cruel way she treated Aria, thanks to Sunset's intervention they were now closer than ever. “Wherever we go, we'll be together. I am curious to see how its changed. I recall the stallions were quite studly,” she purred.

“Saddle Arabia it is,” said Sunset who started to trot off. The others flew or trailed after her. She wasn't certain if she and Flash could ever mend their relationship with the human Twilight, but despite her regrets she wanted to believe she'd made the right choice. The Dazzlings could be redeemed in time, like anyone else, if they were simply willing to try.

On the way they talked, ate, and rested, carefree. Days came and went. They stopped at a number of settlements. At one point an airship passed overhead, and Calaeno waved at them. They hitched a ride with the pirates, sailed across the seas, and were left at a village in a desert, the sea of dunes seemingly endless. Rain came and went, and a rainbow was left in its wake.

Darkness fell and stars glimmered around the pallid moon. A campfire crackled at the center, the group seated on stones they found lifted over by their auras. Flames reflected off their shadowed faces, and they cooked vegetables on skewers they'd bought from a market stall. “Glad you gave up smoking,” said Sunset to her double, the cool night air washing over them.

Sunny shrugged. “Didn't seem fair to do that to a body I borrowed.”

“I'm glad. You're pretty thoughtful. A flower addiction, though?” She grinned and shook her head. “Well, it's a step above a sweet tooth, and didn't put on any pounds, at least. Here.” She plucked a flower she bought from a bouquet with her teeth.

Out of the corner she could see the others watching her, particularly Flash who tried to pretend he wasn't interested, her snout pressed so close to Sunny's they practically kissed as she passed the treat to her lips.

“Scrumptious,” mouthed Sunny between loud chews.

Adagio couldn't help but lick her lips. “Should we leave you alone?”

Sunny cast them a lazy grin. “Whatever you like. But I'm pretty pent up after all this time, and well, from what I've heard about customs here herds aren't unusual. Or casual hookups between friends.” She winked.

In the end none of them walked away. Sunny yanked Flash from the sky, pulled him between her and Sunset, taking turns mashing their lips to his. His forehooves trembled as he cautiously ran them down their smooth, lightly furred curves, testing the limits of what they were okay with, and their docks flagged their tails high and to the side, their wet pussies starting to wink.

Loins burning from the shameless display, the Dazzlings lost themselves in their own threesome, something they hadn't indulged in for quite a while. Aria swayed her snake tail, nibbled on Sonata's neck, as did Adagio who outstretched her bat-like wings.

Kissing up between Inky's thighs, Beatrix breathed in her musk, hat falling away as she lapped at her moist slit. They all surrendered to the moment, the buck of hips, audible schlicks and slurps, the pounding and jiggles from masses of flesh.

Flash mounted Sunny and Sunset many times over the hours, nipped at their napes, thrust into them. He managed to cum inside them half a dozen times before he sadly couldn't take anymore, limp atop Sunny who was stacked on all fours atop Sunset, still inside her while they well-used lower holes dripped with his sticky seed. They murmured in contentment.

Sonata was a similar mess, ponytail undone and sweaty between her sisters who pressed their nude forms to her. Beatrix was still underneath Inky, muzzles buried in their partner's plots, noisily eating them out with swirling tongues until dawn arrived.

In the morning after a quick nap they bathed, redressed, and headed back out. Sunny and Sunset practically glowed from post-coital bliss hours later, and Flash flushed with pride, wings flapping and eager for their next session.

They finally closed in on Saddle Arabia. It was a hard won peace, and they basked in the fruits of their labor.
