Flurry Heart Crusader
It’s the end of the week in Twilight’s School Of Friendship, with all the students leaving. Despite waiting until Monday, they’re happy to spend their time anywhere in Equestria. Twilight’s friends went back home while the Princess Of Friendship looks at her list of things to do during her weekend. Of course, she’s always a busy alicorn with barely any rest during the day. Then, the tutors of the School Of Friendship, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo left their classroom as they walk past Twilight in the main hallway.
“Hey Twilight.” Scootaloo said. “Is this all your going to do during the weekend, again?” She looked at the list Twilight wrote down.
“Well yes, even ponies need help during the weekends.” Twilight smiled.
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle knew Twilight would be a busy alicorn, but they’re curious of what she does. After years of knowing Twilight, they wanted to return some favors she did for them.
“Do you think you need any help?” Apple Bloom asked.
“Yeah, we got nothing to do during this weekend.” Sweetie added.
“Sorry, but these are some things I can handle by myself.” Twilight replied. “This list contains a lot of duties I have to do for Ponyville and not only that, Princess Cadance and Shining Armor will drop off Flurry Heart tomorrow.”
“Flurry Heart?” The Cutie Mark Crusaders responded in surprise.
“What, none of my friends told you about my brother’s baby?”
The fillies became silent, while also looking at each other. They did go to the Crystal Empire for the Equestria Games, but that was long before Flurry was born. Twilight sometimes wanted her closest friends to know about Flurry Heart because of the baby’s difference than other babies in Equestria.
“Anyway, tomorrow and Sunday, I’m not going to be doing anything during my free time and I want to make sure Flurry is occupied. unlike last time.”
Just when Twilight was about to leave, the Cutie Mark Crusaders blocked her way. “Can we help you take care of Flurry Heart?” Apple Bloom offered.
“Excuse me??” Twilight reacted.
“If we take good care of Flurry, you might be able to do everything on your list tomorrow.” Sweetie said.
“And not only that, we might get to know Flurry Heart a lot more with the activities we can do with her.” Scootaloo added.
Twilight respected the fact that the Cutie Mark Crusaders are willing to help, however unlike other babies, Flurry Heart will show Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo who she really is. She was grinding her teeth with the idea that if somepony takes care of her, Flurry might use her alicorn magic.
“Girls, I want you to understand that Flurry Heart is an alicorn, long story. And whenever she gets upset or loses one of her toys,”
“She lifts anything she comes across?” Sweetie Belle guessed.
“Including ponies?” Scootaloo added.
“Yeah, pretty much.” Twilight answered.
“We can be responsible, We’ve been through this in the past.” Apple Bloom chiming in. “We can keep all our attention on her to the point she won’t be invisible.”
The Princess Of Friendship still had second thoughts but at the same time, during that day when she was taking care of Flurry, her list got in the way. She hurt Flurry Heart by yelling at her like a scarily bear which make Flurry cried. After that day she refuse to make that mistake again.
“Okay, tomorrow when Cadance and Shining arrives, I’ll give you the responsibility to take care of her, just keep her safe.” Twilight replied.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders cheered with the opportunity to play with Flurry Heart. As long as they occupied the baby alicorn, things will turn out great in the end.
The day came with the Cutie Mark Crusaders arriving at Twilight’s castle. By the time they got there, Cadance and her husband give Twilight the baby alicorn before they returned to their kingdom. The Princess Of Friendship gave the fillies a list of what Flurry Heart loves the most with baby food as well. The Cutie Mark Crusaders put Flurry in their wagon with her things, they leave Twilight’s castle as they head to their treehouse.
When they saw Flurry for the first time, they were surprised to see a one of a kind baby alicorn. They thought those types of ponies would only appear in dreams since dreams can do so many things outside in reality. Flurry found the Cutie Mark Crusaders really fun to play with since she never played with any filly who’s older than her. So far, everything is turning out good with the four ponies heading to the treehouse and the morning is just the beginning.
“I still can’t believe that Flurry Heart is an alicorn, and she’s a baby!” Apple Bloom commented.
“Tell be about it, I wonder if Cadance trains her to be an awesome hero like Twilight is.” Scootaloo added to which both of her friends gave her awkward looks. “What? She would be the first ever bravest baby in Equestria.”
“I’m pretty sure babies would rather still be babies even if they’re somehow alicorns.” Sweetie Belle retorted. She then turned to Flurry Heart, who’s playing with her toys. Apple Bloom agrees with Sweetie Belle considering the way Flurry is behaving right now however Scootaloo thinks otherwise. She stopped pulling the wagon until she stood face to face with the baby alicorn.
“What are you doing?” Apple Bloom asked.
“Shhh! I want to give her communication.” Scootaloo replied in annoyance. Her friends decide to give their pegasus friend a chance to show Flurry the kind of friend she is. With her attention back to the baby alicorn, she puts on her happy and thrilled face.
“So, if Cadance the mother who really cares about you, do you think she would turn you into a powerful alicorn warrior STILL as a baby?”
After of what Scootaloo asked, Flurry Heart made a confused look. Scootaloo immediately took notice so she decided to do charades. She picked up a stick with bark she ripped off from a tree as her shied. She poses herself as a knight with Flurry Heart and the others watching.
“Imagine being me, but younger while a powerful creature is about to attack.” She moved forward while putting on her brave and aggressive expression. “Then you face destiny and take down the beast with all of your might!” She then jumped in the air and made an attack with her stick on the tree. Unfortunately due to the thickness of the tree, the stick broke in half. “Just imagine I took down the creature.”
“Not really.” Sweetie Belle rolled her eyes.
“And then.” She went back to Flurry Heart. “You come back home with everypony giving you an encore of being the bravest baby alicorn who ever-“
Flurry Heart then sneezed, which causes her alicorn to create a huge forcefield that pushed Scootaloo yards away, interrupting her speech. She crashed onto the same tree and because of the impact, the tree timbered on the ground with Scootaloo completely dizzy.
Both Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom couldn’t believe what they saw with their jaws hanging open. “Wow, when Twilight said she’s powerful, she wasn’t kidding.” Apple Bloom replied.
“And a baby alicorn would definitely beat a warrior with that kind of magic.” Sweetie Belle added.
Scootaloo tries to get back on her hooves from the impact that just happened. “L..ll...live…” She finished her sentence with her eyes dazing.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders finally arrived to their treehouse. They took Flurry Heart inside while also bringing some toys and food along. They put the baby alicorn on the ground as they put on their uniforms representing the group they spend most of their lives.
“Flurry Heart,” Apple Bloom smiled. “I, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle, are the Cutie Mark Crusaders!” Scootaloo then pulled down a poster on the wall, showing all three of the cutie marks they have. Flurry Heart found the poster really mesmerizing with the design of the cutie marks beautiful.
Sweetie Belle then took out a collage of her and her friends helping others who just got their cutie marks. “Our cutie marks shows what we can do to so many who deserve a cutie mark of their own.”
“Not to mention, we became tutors in your aunt Twilight’s School Of Friendship.” Scootaloo added while popping her head from behind Flurry. Flurry Heart flow off from the ground, used her magic from her alicorn to lift the collage of photos from Sweetie Belle. She loves all the fillies who are with the Cutie Mark Crusaders and how they show respect to them. Flurry only spend most of her time with her mother and father and in some occasions like the cruise she had with Twilight’s family, she spends little time with fillies in her age.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders we’re surprised from Flurry’s happiness in their collage of memories. “Wow, you really like what we did?” Apple Bloom asked while tilting her head.
“I sure she does.” Sweetie whispered.
This gave Scootaloo another idea for what she and her friends can do for Flurry Heart. “Hey Flurry Heart.” She spoke which got the baby alicorn’s attention. “How would you like to be a member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders!?”
Flurry Heart became more happier then even with squeaks of enjoyment as she few all around in the treehouse. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle on the other hand we’re shocked from their friend’s crazy idea.
“Scootaloo! Are you serious!?” Apple Bloom shouted.
“When we told Twilight we can take care of her baby, that doesn’t mean she can be one of us!” Sweetie Belle retorted.
“But you don’t understand,” Scootaloo reclaimed. “Babs Seed became a member of our group and she lives in Manehattan.”
“That’s not the point.” Apple Bloom replied.
“Flurry Heart is a baby, what are you talking about?” Sweetie Belle added, raising her eyebrows.
“The point is, if we show her what it’s like to be a Cutie Mark Crusader, maybe the next time Twilight takes care of her, she could be thrilled to do more with us.” While her friends continue to listen, Scootaloo shows off her uniform. “Our group make so many of our friends change and if we do the same with Flurry Heart, she could have a cutie mark of her own. She could be the first baby in Equestria to have a cutie mark!”
Scootaloo raised her hoove up in the air to show how much her advice could make Flurry’s future a bright one. However, her friends are still unsure with the idea of a baby being part of their group.
“I’m sorry, but I doubt Twilight will approve that her baby will spend more time with us.” Apple Bloom said.
“We can’t allow us to show Flurry Heart everything we do.” Sweetie added.
“Why not!?” Scootaloo wined.
“Because she won’t be interested with Twilight anymore and she doesn’t usually babysit with Flurry Heart all the time.”
“But girls…”
“No, we’re not allowing Flurry Heart to be part of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.”
Just when Apple Bloom was about to tell the baby alicorn the sad news, she was eavesdropping everything. “Flurry Heart?” They also notice that Flurry is crying in tears when she heard she wasn’t going to be part of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Unlike the time Twilight was mad at her, this broke her heart in the inside badly. Her alicorn began to power up in electric magic, a highly dangerous ability alicorns have.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders stand back on the walls when they see Flurry Heart gaining more energy in her alicorn magic. “I can tell Twilight will definitely disprove when she finds out about this!” Scootaloo shouted. When Flurry Heart cried, she zapped the roof from the treehouse which demolished it.
“And the fact the baby is so unstable!” Apple Bloom beginning to freak out. Just when Flurry was about to cause another beam, Sweetie Belle changed her mind.
“Okay, you can be a part of the Cutie Mark Crusaders!!!”
Flurry Heart opened her eyes and stopped her lazer from causing more noise. Her tears are wiped away quickly as she gives the fillies a hug. They felt relieved they didn’t cause another situation like before but at the same time, they still need rules for the baby.
“Don’t you think we should tell her that destroying properties is bad?” Sweetie Belle whispered.
“No, we don’t want her to get more sad.” Scootaloo added.
“I’ll tell my sister to help us rebuild the roof.” Apple Bloom looking at the destroyed ceiling in her treehouse. “Although she’s going to be flipped when she knows what we’ve done.”
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle decide to give Scootaloo the role to show Flurry Heart everything about being a Cutie Mark Crusader. The baby alicorn accepted everything of what the fillies discussed about the rules, but she still has to do one task to prove it. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle tried to help Scootaloo fly in the air and they almost succeeded, only for their friend to meet Rainbow Dash’s parents.
Scootaloo had a vision, if Flurry uses her powers on the thrust of the launch of her chances of flying, it could be more powerful. She’s sad her wings are still small, but it won’t stop her from doing a dangerous but amazing opportunity.
They went to a ledge that shows the views of Ponyville and Cloudsdale. It was a big ledge for any pegasus to jump and fly on their first attempt. Scootaloo is not only wearing a helmet like before but also wearing bubble wrap around her body to avoid any possible injuries. She’s sitting on the wagon, being prepared to lift off into the sky.
“Scootaloo, are you sure you want to do this?” Apple Bloom making a stressful and scared expression.
“I doubt we would be able to find you when you land somewhere.” Sweetie Belle shaking her hooves.
“Believe me, I wanted to fly in higher limits and the fact is this could be the only chance I get.” Scootaloo boasted. “I’m sure I’ll be alright once it’s over.”
Her friends try to respect the fact that she wants her dreams to come true, despite the fifty percent chance of going to the hospital. Flurry Heart is behind of Scootaloo preparing to launch her into the sky but there's a downside. Flurry could only use her alicorn in any of the emotions she feels in situations. Sadness, fear and rage just to name a few will only make her magic to happen.
“Flurry? Aren’t you going to launch me?” Scootaloo turned her head. Flurry shook her head left and right in her response of no.
“I don’t think she can launch you because she doesn’t know how to use her powers.” Apple Bloom commented.
“And I don’t think making her to do it is going to help.” Sweetie Belle added while being yards away from her friends.
Scootaloo tried to think of a faster idea for Flurry to launch her but not making her to do so. She did remember the unexpected allergy the baby had when she pushed her to a tree upon impact. It wasn’t the best idea, but it’s the only chance. She bites one of her feathers from herself and tickles it on Flurry’s nose. Flurry slowly being to sneeze like before but with the help from one of Scootaloo’s feathers, it got her allergies more effective.
After ten more seconds, Scootaloo notice Flurry’s alicorn begin to power up. She finally stopped and looked at the ledge again, being prepared. Flurry Heart panted more than sneezed with a powerful beaming thrust. It launched Scootaloo off the ledge and into the air with the wagon crashing to the ground.
Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle couldn’t believe what they saw. A baby alicorn did so much more thrust power than any of the times they did for their friend. Flurry Heart was also surprised of the thrust she gave to Scootaloo, the filly who trusted her to be part of her group. Without wasting time, Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle took a head start to see where Scootaloo is landing, while also bringing the baby along.
Scootaloo couldn’t believe how high she’s getting, it’s way higher than any of the other times she attempted this activity. She looked down at so many of the ponies in Ponyville being like ants from this height in the air. She was more than thrilled as she looks where the thrust is taking her. The thrust was so powerful, she was above Cloudsdale and she STILL didn’t land yet.
Inside one of the locker rooms in the Wonderbolts Academy, Rainbow Dash just finished her workout as she took a seat on her bench. She opened her water bottle and took a drink to regain her energy again. But one of her ears perked up when she heard a small scream from outside. Once she opened her eyes, looking out the window she saw Scootaloo in the sky, she spit out the water in complete shock.
It took awhile for Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Flurry Heart to find the place Scootaloo landed. Scootaloo was by a beach with a hole representing her landing spot. Her friends were surprised, but also worried if their friend is alright. They rushed to the landing spot and pulled Scootaloo out of the hole. She still has her helmet on but her bubbles on her warp have popped.
“Oh my gosh!” Apple Bloom cried.
“Are you alright!?” Sweetie Belle reacted.
Flurry Heart became ashamed of herself. She was about to head back to the treehouse until she heard Scootaloo moaning. The landing she took wasn’t soft, but not hard at the same time. Then soon Scootaloo begin to cheer in happiness.
“THAT WAS AWESOME!!!”
Flurry Heart then turned around with her eyes wide as she saw Scootaloo ran up to her completely undamaged and gave her a hug.
“I never felt so alive in my whole life!”
The baby alicorn smiled in joy that Scootaloo remained safe and sound as she giggles. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle felt relief their best friend had survived the landing as they join in on the hug.
“I’m just glad you're alright.” Apple Bloom replied.
“But please don’t do this again. We thought you were going to be a goner.” Sweetie cried.
“I know, it was my fault I made Flurry sneeze.” Scootaloo braking the hug. “It’s only going to be a once in a lifetime thing okay?”
Her friends agree on Scootaloo’s idea of safety, they turned to Flurry Heart who’s been standing there wondering what they’re going to do next. After what just happened, they decide to tone down the risky stunts and show her what they do best.
“Flurry Heart.” Sweetie Belle said. “I want you to understand, you don’t need to use your alicorn magic to help us.” The baby alicorn became confused until Apple Bloom fills in.
“What she means is you need to understand what it’s like to be one of us. And the problem is, you’re too young to handle anything we do.”
Scootaloo can understand the consequences that could happen if Flurry being on her side when she does something dangerous. While she loved the thrust Flurry gave to her, almost everyone in Ponyville and Cloudsdale saw her.
“They’re right.” She spoke. “We just wanted you to be happy while your aunt is busy. We’ve known her since she arrived at Ponyville and we wanted to show how far we’ve come. That’s why I came up with the idea of you being part of our group because…”
“You would be upset.” Both Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle finishing her friend’s confession.
Flurry Heart listen to every word she heard from the Cutie Mark Crusaders and felt disappointed in herself but the fillies aren’t done yet.
“However,” Apple Bloom added. “We want to know a lot about you.” This made Flurry look at them again.
“So much that, if you’re part of our group, you might learn a lot when you get older.” Sweetie Belle smiled.
“And the more you learn, you’re more than being a member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders. You would be a wonderful alicorn your mom and dad will be proud off.” Scootaloo finished.
Flurry Heart smiled with tears coming down from her eyes. It came to the point she used her telekinesis, thanks to her excitement to give the Cutie Mark Crusaders a hug again. The fillies accepted it and was surprised she all gave them a group hug on her own.
“We will promise, we will protect you and show you who we really are.” Sweetie Belle replied.
For the rest of the day, Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo showed Flurry Heart everything there is to be a Cutie Mark Crusader. They showed her the ponies they came across and told her the stories they did for their cutie marks. They played with her with Flurry’s toys and fed her with the food they had for her. At the end of the day, they returned to Twilight’s castle and she was shocked to see Flurry so happy with the fun she had today and the fact she did everything on her list today. She thanked the Cutie Mark Crusaders with the help they did and if the next time she has this weekend again, she will call the fillies she knows and likes.
The Cutie Mark Crusaders had one of the best days in a long time. Sure it will be awhile for them to show the baby more about them, since they didn’t do a lot, but they can wait. They wanted to show everything to the youngest alicorn in Equestria the meanings of their group and how it even makes themselves proud of becoming the first of their kind.
As for Flurry Heart, she loves the Cutie Mark Crusaders almost as good as Twilight. The fillies she met in person, the way they acted towards her and how they explained their history with the Cutie Mark Crusaders. And they’re just half of what Sweetie Belle told her in their collage of memories. The fact of honor she's part of the Cutie Mark Crusaders is only the beginning for her future outside of her mother and father’s kingdom. A future of her soon to be friends Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo will show everypony she's one of a kind to be with.
