Stalls
Attention all students this is principal Celestia speaking I would like to remind everyone that whoever keeps planting roses by the statue out front, that even though it is pretty that I must ask you to stop or you will face punishment. In other more pleasant news, construction of the new Horse riding field was just completed yesterday. So today whoever wishes to sign up and be a part of the new team must meet by the brand new stables, right after school. Where you will be introduced to the newly chosen team captain Applejack as tryouts will be held. "That is all," Celestia said as she cut off the announcements with a click.
Fluttershy perked up at that announcement, as she was petting a caterpillar she had found on the steps leading to the front doors of the school building. She just loved animals and horse were so regal and majestic creatures she just had to go see them. She didn't really want to join the team because looking down at herself in her flowery dress and frowning as she just knew she didn't have the athletic ability as some other people. Now Rainbow Dash would do an excellent job but her not so much, but that didn't deter the kind-hearted girl.
Just after the bell rang Fluttershy and a few other girls made their way over towards the brand new bright red stables, where a smiling Applejack greeted them wearing what looked like a brand new outfit with a shiny black helmet on.
"Well howdy ya'll, I don't mind much for this here outfit but I thought I should be dressed up to at least start this off with a good impression."
Applejack took a few moments to greet all the new girls most of which she at least new in some way, but as she was getting towards the back of the girls she noticed that there was a familiar face trying to blend into the wall behind her like always.
"Fluttershy I didn't take you one for sports but besides that, I'm glad to see you here."
With that Applejack turned back and began explaining to all the assembled girls about duties and requirements and everything that should and would go along with being a part of the new team.
"Now onto the introductions, to for some of you your new riding partners."
With that Applejack turned and led everyone into the Stables. At first showing off a brown and white speckled mare with the name Cookies n Cream. Then onto a few more varying horses some stallions some more mares leading everyone from stall to stall right up until she came to the very back of the stables.
"Ok everyone that was all the ridable horses we have in this here Barn." Applejack said with a smile.
As a single hand shot up, everyone turning to look at a now trembling Fluttershy as all eyes turned upon her.
"What about that one." Fluttershy squeaked out pointing at the horse in the back.
Everyone's attention now turned towards a massive black coated stallion who's coat was so shiny it reflected what little light reached it in the back where its stall stood by itself. It stood at least a head taller than all the other horses AJ had shown off until now and Fluttershy just absolutely loved the way it looked, it was almost as if its name should also reflect magnificent such a creature was.
"Oh him, that there is Nightshade. But nobody is to go near him, he isn't the friendliest and we've been trying to break him in with no success."
"He was one that was sent to us with a discount being as to how hard he was for the sellers to handle."
"One day he will be ridable because he is a very strong stallion until then we have plenty others to ride."
"Now onto tryouts," AJ said as she turned and lead them out to the field.
As they were all lead out Fluttershy was the last to go as her eyes never left the onyx-colored horse. Knowing deep down in her soul that was the one that she just had to become friends with. Outside Applejack, went through each person that showed up letting everyone have a chance to show what they were made of. As the already saddled mare gave each of the students a chance to show whatever skills with a horse they had. When Fluttershy's turn came up it went as badly as both Applejack and even Fluttershy had thought. She couldn't even hold on to the reigns with much strength as she was scared of how high off the ground she was. Being stopped before she would hurt herself Applejack said: "Maybe next time Fluttershy."
After everyone had left Fluttershy stayed near the treeline by the edge of the school's property. She had wedged a stick into the lock of the stables main door when she left. So as Applejack had left and thought she locked the door Fluttershy waited for her chance. When Aj had finally gone she made her way up to the door and swung it wide open turning on the interior lights.
Making her way towards the back of the building she stopped in front of Nightshade. She hadn't made the cut for the team but that didn't mean that she couldn't at least befriend the horses. With that, she most certainly wanted to get to know Nightshade he was by himself in the back and wouldn't even be ridden for a while to come. She found a brush in a pale next to his feet as she picked it up and slowly eased her way next to him. He watched her warily as she approached but as she spoke to him in a soft tone he seemed to relax. Fluttershy just had a way with animals that she had been working with her whole life as she began to brush him.
