Twilight and the rest of her friends conquered darkness, but a bigger and badder threat comes this way.
With the conquering of the nightmare essence and the snake siren Genevieve, it would appear that things are starting to calm down but now there are more threats coming to Metropolis. One of those threats has a keen eye for the brute of the team Fluttershy and drive her quite batty.
The events of what happened with Rarity was devastating but they were able to rebuild and make Metropolis much better. Kate and her symbiote companion Kassidy Black vanished after the Nightmarity incident, Kate had her own reasons that the other heroes had to respect despite what Rainbow Dash thought of her.
Twilight looked out the observation window at the rising sunlight that rose to greet the city with a warm bubbly feeling after what was a dangerous place at first.
After Rarity was corrupted by the nightmare essence, things are starting to calm down
She walked over to her bulletin board where she saw notes about Kate's plan with a few of her accomplices including Kassidy, Crimson (which Twilight announced he was deceased when Shy and Pinkie found the body), and there was a question mark above a picture of Genevieve which made Twilight ponder a bit.
"She turned on both Kate and Kassidy to fill her own MO" Twilight pondered.
That question was going to keep being a mystery to her, all of a sudden some kind of note scanned itself off the fax machine that rested a few inches away from the super computer. Twilight took a picture of Spike in her hand and traced her fingers across it.
"Spike...thank you for keeping my spirits up even though you left this world too late" Twilight said, wiping a single tear away before it had any chance to escape her eye.
The door opened to reveal Rarity who came back after going to a store along with the others, she noticed a strange message point out from the fax machine.
"Darling there is a strange message on the fax machine" Rarity stated the obvious.
Rarity got a sense of what has happened a few days ago involving Genevieve and that nightmare essence that entered her friend and turned her into a monster. The fashionista gave Twilight a big hug, reassuring her that she will stand by her side. Twilight wiped a single tear from her eye and returned the embrace.
Thank you Rarity Twilight smiled.
"Twilight I'm not going anywhere except by your side in this fight" Rarity proclaimed.
"Thank you Rarity that means a lot to me" Twilight replied, wiping more tears from her eyes.
Both girls smiled and gave each other another tight but warm embrace. This felt great for Twilight as the diamond bracelets shined in the morning light.
The ship that loomed over the Earth, circling in a tight but maneuverable circle which didn't come as a surprise as Kate walked down to a corridor inside a dark room that only had one window of nothing but deep space.
"My master" Kate bowed in respect.
King Sombra looked over at a bowing Kate Taiga and gestured her to stand up and approach her.
"The snake siren is dead, a forced partnership with those heroes, during that time Kate have you learned anything about them?" Sombra asked.
"More than my fair share master. Those heroes were like open books to me and Kassidy" Kate replied, handing Sombra her notes.
Looking through them, Sombra could tell that Kate took a watchful eye on the Power Heroes. A diagram of a some kind of a sword caught Sombra's eye like a fish hooked to a lure, examining it closely it seemed to be in the testing phase but still posed a threat to his plan.
"Kate I want you to grab the schematics for this weapon and bring it to me" Sombra commanded.
"Yes master" Kate said obediently.
Kate then left his chambers with orders to snatch up plans for a potential sword that could pose a threat to the king of shadows. His plans to plunge the world into eternal darkness would be met with resistance from Twilight and her friends, Kate would bring those plans to him and then strategize a counterattack. Imaging that placed an evil smirk across his face and gave a hardy laugh, with a picture frame of him and Fluttershy during her corrupted days with him.
"My little batty queen will come back to me" Sombra said, looking at the photo.
Kassidy was the next to walk inside Sombra's chambers upon his request, she was kinda confused why she was summoned considering that between her and Kate they helped those heroes defeat Genevieve.
"You wanted to see me sir?" Kassidy asked, still confused at the odd summoning.
"Kassidy I have something very special for you to do, I want you to kidnap Fluttershy for me" Sombra commanded.
"Doesn't she hate you?" Kassidy asked.
Sombra gave Kassidy a death glare, "I am well aware of her hatred of me miss Black, I would just like for her to be here so I can turn her against those heroes" he explained.
"Ohhh...that makes sense" Kassidy replied, finally getting the hang of it.
"So I request of you to capture Fluttershy for me Kassidy" Sombra requested.
Kassidy gave a nod and left his chambers, Sombra stared at the photograph once again then let out a sigh.
"I will have you back very soon" Sombra said to himself.
Dash drilled in another screw on the new turbine on the jet to keep from having unwanted problems like with that hair raising situation. Fluttershy came off the elevator to see Rainbow fixing the jet and gave off a small giggle upon approaching the rainbow haired super heroine.
"Hey Dashie I didn't know that being someone that has electrical powers would never fix a jet" Fluttershy joked.
Dash let out a laugh at that joke and gave her shy friend a hug.
"Shy I know that taking care of Aria was a reminder of what 'he' did to you" Dash said, being careful to not step over any boundaries.
"No Dash I know what you meant trust me, I would NEVER go back to what I used to be. That part of me died a long time ago and now I can focus on what's happening now" Shy proclaimed.
Dash was proud that her friend is letting the past behind her and thinking about moving on as a person.
"I'm glad your doing so well, it would be quite a shame if someone took that away from you" Kassidy said as she walked out of the shadows.
"Kassidy..." Dash said, balding up her fists causing them to spark.
Turning her hand into a blade, Kassidy charged at both girls almost slashing her arm blade at them. Shy increased her strength enough to punch Kassidy in the mouth, sending the symbiote host flying into a wall that cracked some. She slid down the wall and struggled to stand but Rainbow grabbed her by the throat and lifted her up a little bit.
"Alright shit stain, who the fuck sent you?" Dash demanded.
Kassidy just smirked and a spike drove itself into Dash's stomach, pushing her back as she was on the ground, writhing in pain after almost being impaled. Shy rushed over to her downed friend to stop the bleeding before it got worse.
"Behind....you...." Dash managed to say.
Unknowing to Shy, a chloroform rag smothered her until she went limp and unconscious courtesy of the rag that Kassidy had placed in her pocket. Dash went to try and stop her from taking Fluttershy but Kassidy round house kicked her to knock her out.
"Idiot" Kassidy said.
She pulled out her ear piece and pressed a button to contact Sombra about the success.
"Have you captured her?" Sombra asked anxiously.
"I did, I will admit that she and another that goes by the name of Rainbow Dash aka Zapp were tough but I got the job done nonetheless" Kassidy explained, admitting that kidnapping Fluttershy was not easy.
"All that matters is that you got her" Sombra said.
Kassidy nodded at that and released the button on the ear piece and faded away with Fluttershy in her possession.
Rarity treated Dash's ruptured stomach that was caused by Kassidy. The rainbow haired superheroine felt awful for not defending her friend, even though there was no way she could have stopped that psychopath in her current state. Applejack and Pinkie rushed in the observation deck, looking up at Dash laid out on top with Rarity stitching up the wound.
"What happened Dashie?" Pinkie asked frantically.
"She almost died trying to save Fluttershy from that dreadful Kassidy Black but unfortunately she was unsuccessful" Rarity explained.
All Dash could do was nod in agreement and look down at the ground in shame.
"Hey hey Rainbow don't blame yerself. Yer did yer best and we'll get Fluttershy back I promise" Applejack promised.
With those words etched into Dash's mind, it would give her the confidence to want their kidnapped friend back here before something else happened.
"Pinkie, I want you and Rarity to head down to the Diamond District for a massive power spike in that part of the city" Twilight commanded.
"On it darling" Rarity replied.
"We're on it" Pinkie said smiling.
They both put on their respective costumes before heading out into the city on their way to the Diamond District for that power spike.
"Twilight are you sure we can find Fluttershy?" Applejack asked.
"I don't know honestly but I am hopeful" Twilight answered.
Applejack nodded.
Rainbow Dash couldn't fathom what horrible and terrible things Kassidy wanted to do to poor Fluttershy at the hands of whoever the mastermind was behind it.
I will find you Fluttershy and bring you back Twilight proclaimed, feeling very determined.
Fluttershy's vision started to become clearer after being drugged with a chloroform rag that Kassidy used during her attack while Shy was tending to Dash's aid. The room was cold, full of nothing but a super computer with a space view of the planet Earth. Shy tried to move but something was holding her down, she looked down and noticed some chains shackles keeping her firmly to the ground.
"What on Earth? Where am I?" Fluttershy asked frantically.
Footsteps could be heard from the distant hallway and pattered on the solid cold ground until a tall dark figure came into Fluttershy's point of view.
Her eyes widen at the figure that stood in front of her.
"King Sombra!" Shy shouted in fear and surprise.
Sombra gave off a sinister toothy grin, letting Fluttershy know how dangerous he was. Looking everywhere else other than him, Sombra put his hand on her cheeks and squeezed a bit.
"Fluttershy my love I am so in love with you, I missed all those times we caused chaos. I want to live in that fantasy but make it a reality, I miss my little Flutterbat" Sombra explained, turning Shy's head over to a torn up but skimpy dress with bats in the design.
Shy's eyes widen after seeing that dress then turning her attention back to Sombra.
"I know leaving those heroes sounds hard but it gets easier the more times you do it" Sombra continued, letting Shy's cheeks go.
"I won't go back to what I was! All those people I hurt or killed which was even worse, the friends I betrayed just to feed your ego, I became better and more stronger when I got my super powers from a radiation accident and now I'm ready to defend the world from threats" Fluttershy proclaimed, breaking free of her chains using her increased strength.
Sombra was utterly mesmerized by the sheer power that was standing in front of him, Shy gave him a slight jab so powerful that you heard a crunching sound of Sombra's rib cage cracking from Shy's punch, sending him flying through two doors and into Kassidy who was walking over to see if Sombra converted that superheroine.
She used this an opportunity to escape so she ran out of the room she was being held captive and ran over to what looked like a pod room that had some of her friends in suspended animation. Twilight was in her Midnight Sparkle form, Rarity was back to being Nightmarity, Pinkie wore a purple shirt with a green vest on and what looked like face paint that branded a sinister smile. Rainbow Dash wore a lab coat covered in blood, holding a rainbow like syringe. Applejack was covered from head to toe in fur so Shy made an assumption that she was a werewolf or something.
"Midnight Sparkle, Nightmarity, Jinkie (Joker Pinkie), Rainbow Killer, and Applewolf" Shy read from the nameplates.
What is this? Is this what Sombra planning to unleash when we're all gone? Shy contemplated.
Distant noises interrupted her thoughts and Shy hustled to get inside one of the escape pods and set the coordinates to Metropolis, it shot out like a cannon and headed towards Earth back to Metropolis.
Rarity jumped from rooftop to rooftop while her speedster friend zipped and weaved through traffic, avoiding anything that was coming at her. Ever since the whole nightmare essence situation, the Diamond District has been in a fit of disarray after Nightmarity almost ruled Metropolis but thanks to Twilight's anger she was able to bring the real Rarity back. In the back of Rarity's mind, that thought of having power like what she had, made her mind swirl like a coffee mixer.
I hurt a lot of people including one of my best friends...it was dreadful but I choose to be betterRarity smiled.
Her guidance system on of her bracelets started blinking that signaled they were close to the power spike. Pinkie stopped in front of a huge crater laid before them for some unknown reason.
Coming out of the mist was a white haired lady wearing a worn down shadowbolt uniform, her eyes were hazel but looked soulless, like she was hypnotized but she wasn't.
"Guess we found out the source of the power spike" Rarity said, using her bracelets to create a purple staff.
Both girls put on a defensive stance in shape for what was going to be a very contested and heated fight.
The escape pod that Fluttershy was currently in, made a crash landing on to a city park not too from city hall or the Power Heroes HQ. The door popped open with a bit of steam coming out. She looked up at the tall sliver building looming above the city park in astonishment at the sight before them.
I should probably get out of here before something else happens and I have to explain myself Shy said to herself.
She rushed off to go find her friends quickly.
Pinkie moved away from what was an attack from this former shadowbolt, she had brought out a staff from her growing mist that was surrounding her. Rarity, using the bracelets, wrapped her up like a Christmas gift but that didn't hold her for long, she faded into mist and reappeared behind Rarity, going for a surprise attack. Pinkie socked her with a punch straight in the face, sending her flying into the air. Rarity fired a purple arrow at the mist shadowbolt as she crashed to the ground with blood coming down her mouth. Pinkie raced over to where she was laying at, all she could do was look at the speedster.
"Our king will destroy you all" Mist uttered before fading into dust.
Rarity rushed over to be by Pinkie's side, "What happened? Did you hear her say something?" she said frantically.
"Said something like 'They're dark king will destroy you all' or something like that" Pinkie recited.
Rarity pondered at that line 'Our dark king will destroy you'. This was something that stuck itself inside her mind, Rarity knew that it meant danger was on the horizon so they had to see if Twilight knew anything about that phrase Mist was talking about.
"I'll head back to base in lick banana split!" Pinkie said, giggling to herself before speeding off.
Pinkie always makes a situation light even though things look bleak Rarity smiled.
Meanwhile, Twilight was hard at work perfecting the crimson light sword and so far, things were looking pretty good. A few rewiring almost everywhere, tests(more than 15), and making the design cool looking. Twilight didn't care too much about how it looked, she wanted to see if any threat from the darkness would be damaged from an upgraded version of a famous Japanese kitana with purple lighting around it with a special little extra surprise hidden within that Twilight was proud of.
"Hopefully I can be there for my friends like you were to me Spike" Twilight said to herself, looking at a picture of her and Spike hard at work but having fun at the same time.
She put the picture down before hearing a sudden crash like someone broke in. Twilight instinctively put on a repulsor arm and walked over to her room to see a broken window with glass shatters everywhere, over to the left was schematics to the sword but one problem: They were stolen. Twilight's eyes widen with the sudden realization that one of her many blueprints were stolen by someone who broke through the window.
A piece of what looked like purple(mainly light purple hair) could be found underneath one of the shattered glass pieces.
"I have a sneaky suspicion as to who could be responsible for this theft" Twilight said.
She tapped two buttons on her arm, set it to scan and a blue light scanned the bright purple then went into the database looking for an exact match of the hair DNA. A ding sound signaled Twilight that she found a match, it showed a picture of Kate Taiga matching the hair DNA.
"Of course! I knew it, after she and her little science experiment helped us defeat Nightmare Rarity and that snake siren Genevieve" Twilight said feeling betrayed.
At the same time she knew that she along with Kassidy. Twilight trusted them when it was nothing but a facade, not a friendship that she was supposed to be she was about, thanks to Princess Celestia. All that "friendship" mumbo jumbo disappeared when Spike passed away while deflecting a bullet that was aimed at Twilight by Discord. The thought of Spike smiling before dying made Twilight's anger toward Discord and she blasted a fire repulsor at his chest, killing him instantly.
Twilight clutched her chest and quietly sobbed. Kate in a small kitten form she shifted into, watched as Twilight cried over Spike.
"She's crying over something that happened a long time ago. I swear these heroes get more and more fragile by the day" Kate whispered to herself before fading back to Sombra.
Fluttershy kept walking until she spotted her two best friends Applejack and a now fully recovered Rainbow Dash who had a bandage around her left hip where Kassidy stabbed her in the stomach next to her left hip. Shy ran up and gave Dash a tackle hug, that not only surprised Dash but also Applejack.
"What the hay? Fluttershy where have yer been? Dash and the others have been worried sick" Applejack asked curiously.
"Well first thing first she needs to get off me" Dash interrupted.
Shy got off of Dash and helped her rainbow haired friend up to her feet. All three of them went over to a park bench and sat down so Fluttershy could explain her ordeal about her kidnapping by Kassidy.
"Well after Kassidy captured me and drugged me inside this cold unforgiving room that I had no idea I was in. When I looked up, all I saw was King Sombra with that devil like grin spread across his face. He said something about turning me back into....Flutter...." Shy managed to say.
"Flutterbat?" Dash asked.
Fluttershy nodded, "So when I escaped, he had these canisters with versions of us from different dimensions I'm guessing I don't know" she continued.
"What did it say?" Applejack asked.
"Something about Planet Zero" Shy answered.
Dash and Applejack exchanged confused looks but maybe the best way to go about this is to head back to base to research this Planet Zero. Before there was any chance to do so, a big ship loomed above the city of Metropolis.
"Guess the party got started here" Dash said.
"Time to suit up!" Applejack commanded.
All three of them tapped their watches and changed into their hero personas: Zapp, Mistress Marevelous, and Saddle Rager.
A three beam of light came down to reveal Kassidy Black, Kate Taiga, and finally King Sombra as he darted an eye at his escaped prisoner who got out before she could be "converted" as he said to her.
"Three heroes yet so small compared to us" Kate said, having the sword blueprints in her back pocket.
"We'll take you down just the same!" Applejack hissed.
Without a second thought, Dash grabbed Kassidy and rammed her into so many walls before tossing her into what looked like a meat locker. It was cold inside that locker but Dash didn't care, all she wanted to do is zap Kassidy into non existence.
"We love having fun with you hero. Reminds us of when Pinkie had all her siblings killed because of us" Scream cackled.
A long slash almost sliced Dash in half if she didn't move out of the way and countered with an electrical pulse ball that shocked Scream long enough to give Dash an advantage, quick electric attacks before a full blown blast caused Scream to back into a street light back first, the symbiote side of her faded back into her skin that revealed Kassidy knocked out cold.
"Good" Dash said proudly, wrapping her up in electric chains.
Applejack tossed one of her golden horseshoes, only to distract Kate Taiga only to do some quick attacks that did catch her off guard. Before AJ could connect with a kick to the face, Kate grabbed her leg then punched the superheroine right in the crotch, causing Applejack to wince in pain before Kate dropped her like a sack of potatoes.
"How pathetic on your part" Kate sneered.
Rainbow tried to a well planned electric shock sneak attack but Kate grabbed her wrist and kneed her in the stomach, where the wound was bandaged up by Rarity and Fluttershy was once again punctured by Kate's knee. The pain Dash felt was like getting shot multiple times in the exact same place.
Applejack stared wide eyed at her friend, dropping down to the ground.
"Like I said, even if you are super powered heroes bent on saving the world, it won't make-"
A speed punch connected with Kate's face as she went flying into a building as Pinkie stood there with a serious look on her face.
"LEAVE MY FRIENDS ALONE YOU BIG MEANIE!" Pinkie shouted.
Dash looked up a little bit to her friend standing behind her, a small smile appeared on her face.
Love you Pinkie I can always count on you
"It seems that the speedster couldn't stand behind, you had to be the big hero" Kate said wiping some blood from her mouth.
"I will defend my friends no matter what!" Pinkie proclaimed.
Kate smirked, a purple black hue appeared on her hands that sparked some. Pinkie knew that she had corruption magic, after all, King Sombra taught her that type of magic.
"Make your move Flash" Kate hissed.
As if on cue, Pinkie charged at her and punched her in the face, Kate blocked with a magical shield that cracked under Pinkie's punch but didn't count on Dash getting back in the fight by firing an electric blast straight to Kate, shocking her to the point she fell to her hands and knees. Turning her attention away from Pinkie, she was tackled by an enraged Rainbow Dash who was blasted her back first into a brick wall.
"You-" Kate was cut off by a single jab in the stomach by Zapp as payback.
Kate coughed up as she collapsed to the ground, clutching at her stomach while Dash looked down at a pathetic display in front of her. All of a sudden a flash of King Sombra's sword driving his sword into Dash's already injured stomach made Shy's eyes widen at what she saw.
Dash looked down to see a sword full of blood and was already dripping, blood squirted out of Dash's mouth as Sombra let his sword out of Dash's body. Pinkie rushed over to her friend's side, tears coming down her face like a rushing waterfall.
"Dashie...no please don't leave me here..." Pinkie begged in between tears.
The memories that her and Dash shared made a piece of Pinkie's heart fall. Sombra on the other hand admired his handiwork of taking Rainbow Dash. Shy clenched up his hands into fists until she transformed into her other form.
"Hmph I guess you want to join your friend in death Flutter-"
Shy punched him so hard that his ribs cracked like cracking crab legs, his body flung into the air about 12 ft in the air before crash landing to the street below, skidding on the road with blood and bruises all over him. He struggled to stand after Fluttershy's rage induced punch that was well deserved. He reached inside his holster for his sword only to find it empty, when he got hurled into the air the sword slipped out of his grip.
"Damn it" Sombra cursed.
Twilight suited up in her Matterhorn costume and jetted off to where Pinkie and the others were present which was in Midtown. She checked everyone's vitals, everyone looked healthy except Rainbow who had flat lined. Twilight's heart thumped loudly inside her head as she flew and landed near where Pinkie was kneeling down motionless at the now dead Rainbow Dash.
"Twilight, Sombra sneaked up on us...Dash defended Pinkie from Kate but at the cost of 'er own life" Applejack explained.
"I understand, let Pinkie mourn for a little bit" Twilight commanded.
"Shy went after Sombra herself darling" Rarity added.
"She's going to let her rage get the best of her, I better go find her and end this right now" Twilight said.
Rarity nodded.
Twilight jetted away to the Town Square where she could see Shy smashing everything in sight while Sombra was doing the smart thing and avoided whatever the brute superheroine threw at him. Twilight was in utter shock that Shy was in her full form, guessing having one of her friends die in front of her would send any person in a fit of rage.
Shy...I'm sorry
Twilight landed with a thud in between both Fluttershy and King Sombra, stunning them both in surprise.
"Fluttershy I know that losing Rainbow Dash was a heavy blow to you I know how that feels trust me. When Spike died protecting me, I was like you. I was angry, sad, guilty, all those emotions but I expanded those feelings with friends and family. It's not too late, go be with Dash and let me handle Sombra" Twilight said.
Fluttershy contemplated her options but the one thing that was on her mind was revenge on Sombra for killing her friend Dash, on the other hand she could let Twilight handle Sombra and she went with the others to make sure they were okay. Her form started to shrink down as she returned back to normal, she hugged her friend before leaving.
"You are a fool for leaving yourself to face a king like me" Sombra hissed.
"I'm going to dishonor you and make you pay for what you did" Twilight proclaimed.
Sombra brought out another dark sword and charged at her, only to be in a sword clash with Masked Matterhorn as her face went from fear to anger at all the things he has done, more specifically the death of Rainbow Dash by one of his lackeys.
This is for you Rainbow Twilight said as she broke from the sword clash and dropkicked Sombra.
His body started to feel the immense pain from Twilight's feet that were made from steel along with her armor. He was skidding on the concrete enough that some of the foundation was coming off until a clothing store front broke his fall. Hovering above Sombra, Twilight fired a ice blast at him, he used his sword to block it.
"Your petty little blasts won't harm me!" Sombra hissed.
Twilight speared him through the clothing store and into a basketball park with hoops and lines for a free throw line. Twilight fired another ice blast blast, this time it froze Sombra then sized up her gauntlet and punched him so hard that not only shattered the ice but fractured Sombra's ribs, sending him flying 15ft in the air.
Using her rocket boots to reach Sombra, Twilight punched him repeatedly until he again crash landed but this time a shockwave the size of an earthquake shook Midtown Metropolis like a salt shaker. Sombra groaned in pain as Twilight landed near the drop zone of where he landed. She looked down at the fallen king go down with his kingdom, it was really sad display in Twilight's eyes.
"You might have thought you won...but...I shall *cough* *cough* this is only a test..." Sombra said smirking.
Kate charged at Twilight for a sneak attack but without looking, she aimed one of her gauntlet repulsors at Kate and fired an ice blaster that froze Kate solid in her running position. Sombra looked in astonishment as one of his associates was a human Popsicle, Twilight didn't even flinch.
"You took my friends life for your selfish pleasure and I won't show mercy" Twilight said, pointing her sword at his neck.
Sombra was contemplating about getting up and doing another attack but when he did, a light erupted from Twilight's sword, she drove it into his chest. All of a sudden his essence started to light up as he screamed out for this pain to end, soon enough after he expanded with light energy Sombra exploded in an flash of light as bright yellow butterflies fluttered all around Twilight before they went up in the sky to light up a rather gloomy day, she gave off a smile a little bit.
What's done in the dark will be brought back to the light
Applejack came over after the battle of King Sombra to Twilight where she saw her carrying a lifeless Rainbow Dash bridal style which made Twilight's smile fade away quickly.
"Ahm sorry Twilight, Sombra caused a lot of pain to us" Applejack apologized.
"No need" Twilight replied, stroking Dash's cold cheek as it started to rain hard.
