The TARDIS

Dr. Whooves was a strange pony. While he looked like a regular pony on the outside, he was definitely not one on the inside. He was an alien from a planet called Gallifrey in another dimension like the mirror, except "less cute and more extreme," as Dr. Whooves would say. People knew he was not from around Ponyville, but they did not care: he was nice, funny, and had many fascinating stories to tell from his travels.

As Rainbow entered the police box, she mused, "I know this is not magic, but this is impressive stuff, even for an earth pony."

"Ah...Mrs. Dash, welcome!" The Doctor said. "I presume you’re here for training."

"Yes, Mr. Whooves," Rainbow said.

"Please," The Doctor said, "just call me The Doctor."

"Ok… Doctor, where exactly are you taking me to train?" Rainbow asked.

"Well," The Doctor explained "I was thinking, how about going back in time to the Golden Age of the Wonderbolts, when Spitfire herself was still in camp, So that's where I’m taking you."

"So I’m going to time travel!" Rainbow said, excited.

"Yes indeed," The Doctor said.

Just then, the TARDIS began to make noise, and Dr. Whooves said something that sounded Old Ponish.

"Allons-y!" The Doctor shouted.

Wonderbolt flight camp 2001 BMN (Before Nightmare Moon)

As Rainbow exited the TARDIS, she saw the flight camp and was astonished to see what was in front of her: all the buildings looked new, the grass freshly cut, and the runway paved to a perfect coat of black.

"Thank you, Doctor!" Rainbow said, hugging him.

"No problem, Miss. Dash," The Doctor said. "Now remember, there are three things you cannot say to anypony: One, your name; Two, what happens to them in the future; Four....no wait....Three, most importantly, don't change the future by telling people about future events!

"Yes, sir!" Rainbow said. As Rainbow exited the TARDIS she was astonished. She had never time traveled before, and here she was standing in the Wonderbolts’ Camp"

"You! Rainbow Mane!" said a voice. As Rainbow turned around she immediately froze in place. Before her was a stallion with a dark blue coat, his eyes bright yellow and his mane consisting of light, dark, and regular blue. This stallion was none other than Commander Hurricane!

"Where in Celestia’s name are you going!" Commander Hurricane said. "The new recruits are meeting over near the barracks, not the mess hall!"

"Oh, um sorry sir, must have gotten lost," Rainbow said.

"What’s your name, Newbie?" Commander Hurricane asked.

"Um," Rainbow said, quickly trying to think of a name.

"Prism, there you are!" The Doctor said. "I thought that you were near the barracks, why are you at the mess hall?"

"Who are you, Earth Pony?" Commander Hurricane asked.

"John Smith," The Doctor said. "I’m Mrs. Prism’s Personal trainer."

"Personal Trainer?" Commander Hurricane said. "Why would Prism need a personal trainer?"

"Why, because of her missing wing," The Doctor said. "Ever since her horrible accident she has been in my care."

As Commander Hurricane looked back at Rainbow. He could clearly see her metal wing.

"Ok, I’m going to need to see some identification to confirm your identity, Mr. Smith."

As the Doctor pulled out his wallet he flashed a blank sheet of paper in front of Commander Hurricane.

"Ok, you are cleared to be here, Mr. Smith," Commander Hurricane said.

"As for you, Prism," Commander Hurricane said, "I want to see you with the other cadets, and just because you have a metal wing does not mean I will go easy on you, am I clear?"

"Yes, sir," Dash said.

"Good, I will see you in a few," Commander Hurricane said as he walked away towards the barracks.

"Well, I think that went well," The Doctor said.

"Oh my Celestia, I just met the Commander Hurricane!" Dash said. "Time travel is so awesome!"

"Yes, I guess it is," The Doctor said, smiling.

Outside The Barracks

As Rainbow stood with the other cadets she could remember her first time in the academy, with all her fellow cadets and friends. Well, almost all of them. As she studied her fellow cadets, she took in their appearances. One was a short stallion, another was a stallion with scars surrounding his eyes, another was a white stallion with a mane and tail consisting of blue, light blue, cyan, and light green with a cutie mark that had a lightning Bolt, then a Music Note on top of the Lightning Bolt. Then a pony caught Rainbow’s eye. She was white with a curly yellow mane, but what caught her the most is that she had a strange resemblance to Pinkie Pie.

"All right fillies," Commander Hurricane said. "You are all here because you want to become Wonderbolts. Well let me tell you, as far as I am concerned none of you are deserving of the title. If you think this will be a walk in the park, then you are wrong!"

Commander Hurricane walked up to the short stallion.

"You think you can become a Wonderbolt, shortie?"

"Yes, sir!" the short stallion said.

"What’s your name, rookie?"

"Tiny Dust, sir!"

Commander Hurricane then walked up to the stallion with scars. "You look like someone who came out of Tartarus, why should you be a Wonderbolt?"

"I want to protect my country, sir!"

"And what’s your name?" Commander Hurricane said. "Scar Face?"

"The name’s Thunder Colt, sir!"

Commander Hurricane then walked over to the stallion with the red shield for a cutie mark.

"And what’s your story, maggot?"

"Name's Orion, sir!" he said. "I have been a fan of the Bolts all my life, and I wanna give it my all!"

"Well then, you better hope you don't flunk out!" Commander Hurricane said.

Then Commander Hurricane moved onto the mares of the group.

"And what’s your name?" he said.

"Name's Surprise Pie, sir!"

"Surprise?" Commander Hurricane "What’s so surprising about you?"

"I don’t know how to fly, sir!" Surprise said, sticking her tongue out.

"If you don’t know how to fly then why are you here?!" Commander Hurricane said.

"I want to have fun, sir!" Surprise said.

"Well, don’t get your hopes up," Commander Hurricane said.

"And what about you?" Commander Hurricane said as he walked up to Rainbow. "What makes you think that you can make it here with a metal wing?"

"I just want to prove myself, sir!" Rainbow said.

"Oh please, you’re not the first pony to walk on this base with a prosthetic wing," Commander Hurricane said. "What makes you so special?"

"Just let me show you what I can do sir!" Rainbow said.

"Well if that’s everyone we can now move on to..." Commander Hurricane said before somepony interrupted him.

"Wait up!!!" the voice said.

As the group looked into the sky they could see a young mare flying towards the camp. As the mare landed Rainbow got a clear view of who had just landed.

"Cadet Spitfire reporting for duty, sir!" she said.

"Spitfire?!" Commander Hurricane shouted. "Who gave you permission to come late?!"

"Sorry sir, I was caught up by… Traffic," Spitfire said.

"Well don’t let it happen again!" Commander Hurricane said. "Now get in line with the others."

"Yes sir!" Spitfire said, then flew next to Dash and stood at attention.

"Now then, before I was rudely interrupted," Commander Hurricane said, "I was going to say that it’s time for room assignments. The boys will get the left cabin and the girls will get the right. I want all of you up bright and early tomorrow."

"Yes, sir!" the group said.

As Commander Hurricane walked away the group split up to head to their cabins. The Doctor walked to Dash. "Did the meeting go well?"

"Yeah, it did," Rainbow said, "but I had no idea Commander Hurricane was so strict."

"Well drill sergeants will be drill sergeants I guess," The Doctor said.

"So what are you going to do?" Rainbow said.

"Well, the TARDIS is safely parked, so I will probably stay in there until you’re done with your training," The Doctor said.

"Oh well, I guess I’ll see you when I’m done," Rainbow said.

"See you later, Mrs. Dash," The Doctor said.

Little did The Doctor and Rainbow Dash know, a figure was spying on both of them, and had heard everything they had just said.

Wonderbolt Barracks - Girls

As Rainbow woke up from her bunk she could see that Spitfire was already up and ready for the day.

"Prism right?" Spitfire asked.

"Um, yeah, name’s Prism," Dash said.

"So how does it feel to finally become a Wonderbolt?" Spitfire asked.

"We are not Bolts yet" Rainbow said.

"*Pff* I’m the best flyer in cloudsdale, they might as well make me a bolt right away!" Spitfire said.

"Well, I wouldn’t get your hope up..." Rainbow said.

"Hey, it’s almost time for training. Get Surprise up so we’re not late," Spitfire said.

"Ok, see you at training," Rainbow said as Spitfire walked out of the barracks

"Ok Surprise, time to get-" Rainbow said as she turned to Surprise’s bed, only to get confetti blasted into her face. "Ahh!"

"Surprise!"

"Well, I guess some things never change..." Rainbow said.

Wonderbolt Training Grounds

As Rainbow, Spitfire, Surprise, Orion, Tiny Dust, and Thunder Colt lined up they could see Commander Hurricane walking towards the group, ready to address them.

"Welcome to day one of training. Today we will be focusing on your moves and what it truly means to be a Wonderbolt," Commander Hurricane said.

"Oh, this should be easy," Tiny Dust said.

"Oh, you think this will be easy?" Commander Hurricane said. "Well… It won’t! If you had what it took you would already be a Wonderbolt. Looks like I’m going to have to teach you what it means to Be A Bolt

Commander Hurricane

Let's get down to business

To defend the throne

Do you think you'll last here

Where you're on your own?

You're the saddest bunch I ever met

And you can bet before we're through

Filly, I'll make a bolt out of you.

Commander Hurricane

Tranquil as the darkness

But a light within

We maintain this balance

With it we can win

You're the weakest fliers I ever met

And you haven't got a clue

Somehow I'll, make a bolt out of you

Rainbow Dash

I'll never get these wings to work

Thunder Colt

The ground looks so far down below me

Tiny Thunder

Boy was I a fool for joining with this size

Orion

This mare's scared to death (Points At Spitfire)

Spitfire

Hope he doesn't see right through me

Surprise

Now I really wish that I knew how to fly

Groop

Be a Bolt

You must be swift as the coursing river

Be a Bolt

Orion

With all the force of a sonic rainboom

Groop

Be a Bolt

Commander Hurricane

With all the strength of a million stallions

Mysterious as the mare inside the moon

Commander Hurricane

Time is racing toward us

Til our foes arrive

Will you fight against them?

Are you on our side?

You're not suited for the flying corps

So pack up, go home, you're through

How could I make a bolt out of you?

Group

Be a bolt

You must be swift as the coursing river

Be a bolt

With all the force of a sonic rainboom

Be a bolt

With all the strength of a million stallions

Mysterious as the mare inside the moon x2

"Ok, I think we have everything done for the day," Commander Hurricane said. "Dismissed!"

As Commander Hurricane walked away from the group, they finally all passed out onto the ground, tired and exhausted from the training.

"I knew Commander Hurricane was known for his excessive training," Rainbow said, catching her breath, "but this is ridiculous."

"Well, we did all sign up for this," Orion said.

"I signed up for The Wonderbolts, not the military!" Thunder Colt said.

"Dude, The Wonderbolts ARE the military," Rainbow said.

"Guys, gals, we shouldn’t argue, we’re all supposed to be a team," Tiny Dust said.

"Yeah, let's all be friends!" Surprise said.

"Hey, I’m all for being friends, as long as none of you get in my way," Thunder Colt said.

"Hey, who said we would get in your way!" Rainbow said.

"I did, you Filly-Fooler," Thunder Colt said.

Rainbow froze in anger. There was that word the one word that she was always called.

"Nopony Calls Me A Filly-Fooler!" She knew that while it was the truth she needed to keep her identity a secret.

"Oh I’m sorry, I just got confused by that stupid mane you have," Thunder Colt said.

"Why I oughtta-!" Rainbow said before Spitfire grabbed her hoof."Hey, let's not argue. After all, we could all use a break," Spitfire said.

"*Humph* Fine, I was getting bored anyway," Thunder Colt said before heading towards the mess hall.

"You ok, Prism?" Spitfire asked.

"Yeah, I’m ok. I just wish I didn’t have to deal with guys like him," Rainbow said.

"Hey, there’ll always be ponies like that" Orion said.

"Yah...I know" Rainbow said

Spitfire would then walk up to Rainbow. "How about me and you go race a couple of laps, ya know to fly out the tension eh Prism?"

"Oh, you’re on!" Rainbow said.

The Mess Hall

"Wow, you are a fast flyer," Spitfire said as they sat at the table eating their hay fries and cakes.

"Yeah, I could have gone faster, but my accident has made it kinda hard to go as fast as I used to," Rainbow said.

"If I may ask Prism, how did you lose it?" Spitfire said.

"Got caught under a pillar, doctors had to amputate," Rainbow said.

"Well that's a shame. It must have been hard to adjust to flying again," Spitfire said.

"Actually, that's why I’m here. I thought, ‘who better than Commander Hurricane to whip me back into shape?’" Rainbow said.

"Well, you’re right about one thing: Commander Hurricane will definitely whip you into shape," Spitfire said.

"So what about you, why did you join?" Rainbow asked.

"You know, to be the best of the best," Spitfire said.

Just then the door slammed open and Commander Hurricane, followed by royal guards, came in.

"All right maggots, listen up," Commander Hurricane said. "The whole camp is on lockdown, one of the workers was just stabbed and was found dead."

"What?!" Spitfire said.

"Impossible!" gasped Thunder Colt.

As the other cadets and staff tired to figure out how this could have happened, Rainbow Dash snuck out the back.

"I’ve got to get the Doctor."

The TARDIS

The Doctor was bored, which was never a good thing. As he played around with the monitor he thought about the coming years. He knew the outcome of the future and holding the truth from all those whom could get affected by it was torture enough. The TARDIS beeped.

"What do you expect me to say?!" The Doctor said to the TARDIS. It beeped again.

"Well obviously they will find out eventually, but I’m not the person to tell her. Besides if I do who knows what kind of time line changes would happen."

The TARDIS door slammed open and Rainbow came barging in.

"Doctor, there's a situation!" she said.

"What happened?" The Doctor said.

"Commander Hurricane has just put the camp on lockdown, and one of the workers was stabbed to death!" Rainbow said.

"Murder? At the Wonderbolts?" The Doctor said. "That’s impossible, the history books would have said that..."

"Well, it looks like the history books lied!" Rainbow said.

Canterlot High - Other Dimension 2018 ANM (After Nightmare Moon)

As Twilight walked with Sunset in Canterlot High, she stopped in her tracks.

"Twilight?" Sunset said. "Is everything ok?"

"Why do I have the feeling a book was just insulted..." Twilight said.

"Ok then..."

2001BMNR (Before Nightmare Moon's Return)

"Ok Mrs. Dash, if there was a murder then something is definitely wrong," The Doctor said, then looked at the TARDIS monitor. "Aha, here we are!"

"What?" Rainbow said "What does it say?"

"According to the TARDIS monitor, time is in flux," The Doctor said.

"Flux?" Rainbow said. "What does that mean?"

"Think of time like a line," The Doctor said as he pulled a chalkboard next to him, drawing a long thick white line. "When time is in flux it means that the timeline is sorta, thin." Then he made the chalk line from thick to thin. "When the timeline is thin it means that the timeline has the potential to change drastically, like right now. Because of the murder the timeline has the potential to change."

"What does that mean for us?" Rainbow said.

"It means that when we go home, things could be very different" The Doctor said.

"How can we stop it from changing?" Rainbow asked.

"Since the murder was done to someone who is not significant to the timeline," The Doctor said, "it stays intact, but if someone important, say, Commander Hurricane or Spitfire, were to be killed..."

"The Wonderbolts could cease to exist!"

"Mrs. Dash, it looks like we have a mystery on our hooves," The Doctor said.

The Mess Hall

As Spitfire, Thunder Colt, Tiny Dust, Orion, and Surprise sat in the mess hall, Commander Hurricane stood in front of them.

"All right, I have sent the janitors and roadway cleaners home until further notice. The only people who remain here are me, the Royal Guards, you guys, and a killer." Commander Hurricane then looked around and noticed someone was missing. "Where Is Prism?"

As the mess hall door opened, Rainbow and The Doctor walked in.

"Sorry I’m late, gents," The Doctor said.

"Mr. Smith, you better have a good reason for barging in here unannounced," Commander Hurricane said. "And Prism, who gave you permission to leave the mess hall?"

"Yes, about that. You see, my metal wing was cutting into my side and I needed Mr. Smith to bandage it up," Rainbow said.

"Yes, yes, now that that's all cleared up I will take it from here, Commander," The Doctor said.

"What?" Commander Hurricane and Rainbow both said.

The Doctor pulled out his wallet and flashed it at Commander Hurricane.

"My name is not John Smith, I’m The Doctor. I was sent by Celestia to oversee preparations here, and I am also a Royal Detective."

"Well," Commander Hurricane said as he looked at the wallet, "The credentials look legit."

"Now then, I hear there has been a killing. Is this true?" The Doctor said.

"One of the Janitors was found dead behind the barracks," Commander Hurricane said. "And the only people to be near the barracks at the time of his estimated death were the cadets."

"Well, I know for a fact that Prism didn’t do it," The Doctor said. "She was with me last night for her daily check up, so that only leaves Spitfire, Thunder Colt, Tiny Dust, Orion, Surprise, and you, Commander."

"Me?!" Commander Hurricane said. "You think I’m a suspect?”

"Just taking precautions, dear Hurricane. After all, you can go wherever you want at whatever time you want, unlike the cadets who have a curfew," The Doctor said.

"Fair point," Commander Hurricane said.

"Um, Doctor, can I talk to you a for a moment?" Rainbow said.

"Of course, Prism. I'll be right back. If anyone moves, he or she will automatically be accepted as the killer," The Doctor said as he and Rainbow went to the corner.

"Doctor, are you sure you know what you are doing?" Rainbow said.

"Of course Mrs. Dash, I have been in hundreds of murder situations before," The Doctor said. "Now as for how to solve this, we will have to find some suspects. Any idea who it could be?"

"What about Thunder Colt? He’s really suspicious" Rainbow said.

"Ok, do you have evidence to support your claim?" The Doctor said.

"No, but he just seems like the type of person who would kill," Rainbow said.

"That’s not enough to go with," The Doctor said as he he put his hoof up to his chin. "I think I might have an idea."

"What is it?" Rainbow said.

"Go with the others and do exactly what I say," The Doctor said, then turned around and faced the group. "For now the killer is unknown. I have a plan, but it is risky."

"What Is it?" Tiny Dust said.

"Does it involve a party?" Surprise asked.

"I want everyone to keep doing what they came here to do, and when the killer strikes again, I’ll have a better idea of who it might be," The Doctor said.

"So what we are just supposed to do, walk around with a killer?" Thunder Colt said.

"Correct. Don’t worry though, I have a feeling the killer is not after the cadets," The Doctor said. "Commander Hurricane, I want you to go and give me the files for all the cadets. I want their birth records, sign up sheets, anything that will help."

"Ok, I’ll go do that right now," Commander Hurricane said.

"Oh, and Tiny Dust, I want you to go along," The Doctor said.

"But what if Tiny or Hurricane is the killer?" Orion said.

"Then whoever comes back alone is the killer," The Doctor said.

"Oh, he is good," Surprise said.

"Now all of you go and try to be safe," The Doctor said.

"I hope you know what you’re doing, Doctor," Rainbow said as she joined the rest of the cadets.

"So do I."

Wonderbolts Barracks

As Rainbow, Spitfire, Surprise, Thunder Colt, and Orion headed back to the barracks they still could not believe what had happened.

"I still can't believe it... Murder?!" Spitfire said, still in shock. "Who would do something like that?"

"A meanipants, that's who," Surprise said.

"Guys, we should all just relax," Orion said. "I think that the Doctor knows what he’s doing, at least I hope he does."

"How do we know the Doctor isn’t the killer?" Thunder Colt said "He told us he was John Smith, now he’s this person walking around saying he’s The Doctor? Doctor Who?"

"Just Doctor," Rainbow said.

"So you're his assistant?" Spitfire said.

"Yeah, sorry about lying to you guys. The Doctor said to keep a low profile, but I was telling the truth when I said I came here to fix my flying," Rainbow said.

"So this Doctor, what is he going to do?" Spitfire said.

"Most likely catch the killer, and then we’ll both leave," Rainbow said.

"The sooner the better," Thunder Colt said. "I never trusted you and I was right not to."

"What's your deal, man?" Orion said.

"Yeah, quit being a party pooper," Surprise said.

“Hey, it's not my fault that the Wonderbolt chose such weird cadets" Thunder Colt said.

"We’re not weird! If anything, you're the weird one!" Rainbow said.

"Says the mare with the gay mane," Thunder Colt said. "You people make me sick."

"I’M NOT A LESBIAN!!" Rainbow shouted.

"And so what if she is? That doesn’t make her a bad person," Spitfire said.

"Yeah, I agree," Surprise said.

"Ugh, whatever. The sooner the killer is gone, the sooner I can leave," Thunder Colt said.

Then the door opened and Tiny Dust and Commander Hurricane came in.

"We’re back," Tiny Thunder said.

"Did you find anything??" Rainbow said.

"Settle down, Prism," Commander Hurricane said. "Me and The Doctor are going to question each of you one by one. We want to have at least one suspect."

"I'll go first," Thunder Colt said. "Anything to get away from these weirdos. Besides, I have nothing to hide."

"Now gentlemen, relax. I’ve got this covered," The Doctor said. "Besides, we’re all friends here. I think we can all hear what each other have to say."

"But, it's unethical to do interrogations in front of other people," Commander Hurricane said.

"Well that's how I roll. Now, if there will be no more interruptions we can begin the questioning," The Doctor said.

"Fine by me," Thunder Colt said. "Ask away."

"Ok, Where were you last night?" Commander Hurricane said.

"I was in my bed, reading," Thunder Colt said. "Is it a crime to read?"

"Ok, according to your record, you have been arrested two times for domestic violence," The Doctor said. "Can you explain to us why you got arrested?"

"I live in a rough neighborhood, so I wasn’t surprised that I was mugged. I got into a fight and I ended up getting arrested for it," Thunder Colt said. "The second time was because some guy was being a total asshole to me so I stabbed him."

The Doctor raised an eyebrow. "What happened to the victim?"

"He didn’t die, just had to get surgery," Thunder Colt said. "I did my time for those acts and then my folks signed me up for the academy, so here I am."

"Thank you, that will be all. You can go sit," Commander Hurricane said. "Orion, you're next."

"Ok," Orion said.

"Ok, Orion, where were you yesterday night?" The Doctor said.

"I was out on the training grounds. Wanted to prepare for tomorrow's session" Orion said "I even talked to some of the other people, so you can ask them if you need confirmation."

"Ok, thank you," The Doctor said. "Surprise, you’re next."

"Yay!"

"Ok Surprise, it says here you have a brother, correct?" Commander Hurricane said.

“Yeah, My brother Igneous Rock, he works on a rock farm, he is actually having his choosing ceremony next week I'm so happy for him, hey I should invite all of you over for the wedding, we can have cake, streamers, balloons, oh I can hire a clown too that will be fun, did you know I was once a clown too? That was a really weird summer kinda round the same time I met....." Surprise said before getting cut off by The Doctor.

"Ok, I think that's all, thank you," The Doctor said.

"But we didn’t ask her about last night," Commander Hurricane said.

"If we ask her about last night she will continue to talk. Besides, she’s way too nice to be the killer," The Doctor said before continuing. "Ok Tiny Dust, you're up."

"Ok" Tiny Dust said.

"Ok Tiny, says you have a wife and a kid," Commander Hurricane said.

"Yeah my wife Ice Dust. We just had the baby so we are not sure what to name her," Tiny Dust said.

"Ok Tiny, where where you last night?" The Dr said.

"I was in the mess hall. I got hungry so I went to get some grub," Tiny Dust said.

"Ok, thank you," The Doctor said. "Last but not least, Spitfire."

"Hay, why is Prism not going up?!" Thunder Colt said.

"She was with me the entire night, so she has an alibi" The Doctor said.

"Ugh, so stupid," Thunder Cold said.

"Anyway, Spitfire, I have one question for you," The Doctor said.

"Shoot," Spitfire said.

"Why are you really here?" The Doctor said.

"What do you mean?" Spitfire said nervously.

"Well for one, your record could not be found," The Doctor said. "And secondly, the reason it was not found was that your application to the Wonderbolts was rejected."

"WHAT?!" the group said.

"Ok, fine, you got me. I came here without permission. It’s just that I want to be the best flyer in Equestria, my dad died fighting in the Nightmare war, and I wanted to follow in his hooves."

"Spitfire, give me one good reason I shouldn’t kick you out for being a non-registered bolt," Commander Hurricane said.

"Please, sir, The Wonderbolts is the best thing to happen to me. I promise I will not fail, you can double my training if you have to!" Spitfire said.

"Ugh, fine, but don't make me regret it," Commander Hurricane said.

"Ok that’s everyone. I think I have a good idea of who is who, but I need more time. You all get some sleep tomorrow, you have the training to do."

"Yes sir!" the group said, then the groups split up to go to their separate cabins.

"Doctor, I hope you know what you are doing. The fate of The Wonderbolts depends on you," Commander Hurricane said

"Don't worry, dear Hurricane. This is not my first murder mystery. Besides, I already know who did it," The Doctor said.

"Then why did you not get them?!" Commander Hurricane said

"Because, just like a spider hunting its prey, it takes time and effort to catch a killer, and for now he has us in his web. However, this web is not as strong as he thinks it is," The Doctor said.

"I hope you’re right," Commander Hurricane said.

Wonderbolt Barracks - Girls

As Rainbow, Spitfire, and Surprise walked into the barracks they all were eyeing each other, especially Spitfire.

"I still can’t believe it! You failed the Wonderbolt application, then snuck in here?" Rainbow said, breaking the silence.

"Listen, I’m sorry I lied to you," Spitfire said. "I just wanted to be a Wonderbolt so badly."

"Badly enough where you snuck into a military institution?" Surprise said.

"Yah..." Spitfire said. "But you all would have done the same!"

"Not all of us," Rainbow said, "and even if I did, I wouldn’t lie about it!"

"Why?" Spitfire said. "You lied to us about The Doctor. I mean, he walked in here saying he was your personal trainer, then he tells us he also works for Celestia?!"

"Trust me, he knows what he’s doing, ok?" Rainbow said.

But before Spitfire could answer Tiny Dust came in with some food and drinks.

"Hey girls! Me, Orion, and Thunder Colt thought it would be nice If we could all relax and eat together."

"Thanks, Tiny," Spitfire said. "And also, how do we know we can trust you, are you who you say you are, Prism?"

"Because she doesn’t lie," The Doctor said, walking into the room. "Trust me, she would never lie to her friends."

"Yeah, like she did with you?" Spitfire said, sipping her drink.

"That's different, okay? I told her not to tell you," The Doctor said.

"Yeah, I promised not to tell anyone," Rainbow said.

"Prism," Spitfire said.

"What’s wrong?"

"I don't feel so...AGH!" Spitfire said before grabbing her heart and passing out onto the ground.

"SPITFIRE!!" Rainbow said. "Doctor, what’s wrong?"

The Doctor sniffed Rainbow’s drink.

"Sweet Celestia, it's cyanide! Sparkling cyanide!"

"What do we do?" Surprise said.

"Tiny, go alert Commander Hurricane and tell him to meet us in the mess hall," The Doctor said.

"Got it," Tiny said, running out the door.

"Ok, now the rest of you come with me to the mess hall. Prism, carry Spitfire with you," The Doctor said before running out the door to the mess hall.

The Mess Hall

The Doctor barged into the kitchen, followed by the group.

"Put Spitfire on that table," The Doctor said.

Rainbow put Spitfire on the table. She was breathing and was half-awake.

"Doctor, what do we do??”

"Ginger beer!" The Doctor said, turning to Surprise.

"What?" Surprise said.

"I need ginger beer! Get me some now!"

"Doctor, I’m not an expert in poisons, but there's no cure for poison. It's fatal," Rainbow said.

"Here you go, Doctor," Surprise said. The Doctor took the ginger beer and poured it into a glass.

"Well you see, dear Prism, I learned how to stimulate the inhibited enzymes into a cure for this type of situation," The Doctor said, pointing to Rainbow. "Protein. I need protein!"

"Walnuts?" Rainbow said, grabbing them from a cabinet.

"Brilliant!" The Doctor said, grinding the walnuts into the drink, but before he could deliver another order the door was slammed open by Orion, causing a frying pan to fly into the air and hit The Doctor, causing him to fall on the ground jaw-first.

"AGH!" The Doctor yelled before getting up and rubbing his head "Cn Yu Udestnd Mu?"

"Oh no, he bit his tongue," Rainbow said, then turned towards Orion. "Look what you did!"

"Sorry?" Orion said before The Doctor started to wave his hooves in the air.

"I can't understand you. How many words? One. One word?" Rainbow said before The Doctor nodded, then started to move his hooves up and down. "Shake. Milkshake. Milk? Milk? No, not milk? Shake, shake, shake. Cocktail shaker. What do you want, a Harvey Wallbanger?" Rainbow asked frustratedly.

"Harvey Wallbanger, is that a band?" Surprise asked.

"Well, I don't know, I just heard someone say it before."

"How is Harvey Wallbanger one word?" Orion said. "What do you need, Doctor"

The Doctor pointed to a salt shaker.

"Salt, he was miming salt. It's salt he needs, something salty," Rainbow said.

"What about this?" Surprise asked.

"What is it?" Rainbow said.

"Salt." Surprise said.

"No, too salty," Orion said.

"What do you mean that's too salty??" Surprise said. "It’s SALT!"

"What about this," Rainbow said.

"What's that?" Orion asked.

"Anchovies," Rainbow said.

"That works," Orion said, giving them to The Doctor and pouring them into the drink. Then he walked over to Spitfire, making her drink the substance, then turned around and started to wave his hooves again.

"What is it? What else? It's a song? Mammy? I don't know. You Gotta Share, and Care?!" Rainbow said.

"Share, and Care? That's an interesting name for a song, I’ll have to use it sometime," Surprise said.

"I think he means shock. Look, shock. She needs to be shocked," Orion said.

"Right then. Big shock coming up," Rainbow said before grabbing Spitfire and kissing her long and hard. When she released her, smoke came out of her mouth, snapping her awake.

"Oh wow, " Spitfire said. "I have to do that more often." Everyone stared at her. "I mean the cure not the… Nevermind!!"

"What just happened??" Surprise said.

"That’s what I want to know," Commander Hurricane said walking through the door with Tiny Dust. "Doctor, what happened?"

"The killer tried to poison Spitfire," The Doctor said. "I was able to save her."

"Well then good work," Commander Hurricane said. "Doctor, the killer has acted twice now. We should go and get him since you know who it is, just tell us already."

"Don’t worry, Hurricane, the killer will reveal himself to us," The Doctor said.

"Hey… Where is Thunder Colt," Rainbow said.

"He was sleeping, really tired from interrogations, had to almost pull him out of bed to help us with the food and drinks."

"I knew it, he must have put the poison in the drinks!" Rainbow said.

"Are you sure it was him, Prism?" Orion said "Sure he’s mean, but he’s not a killer."

"I’m positive," Rainbow said.

"Well then let's go interrogate sleeping beauty," Commander Hurricane said.

Chapter 6: The Killer Is Reveald

Wonderbolt Barracks - Boys

Thunder Colt was mad. He had joined the Wonderbolts so he could prove to his family that he was not some violent asshole, but so far he hadn’t shown that he has changed.

"Cadet Thunder Colt!" Commander Hurricane said as he barged into the barracks. "You have a lot of explaining to do!"

"Can I for once read my fu..." But before he could finish that sentence Rainbow flew in and pushed Thunder Colt to the ground.

"I got him!" Rainbow said.

"Good job, Prism," Surprise said.

"What in Tartarus is going on? Get this bitch off me now!" Thunder Colt said.

"Cadet Prism, get off him NOW!" Commander Hurricane said.

"But sir, he is the killer!" Rainbow protested.

"He is not the killer until proven so, so until then, GET OFF HIM!" Commander Hurricane said.

Rainbow stood there staring at Commander Hurricane. She was arguing with a Wonderbolts legend, and she did not want to get on his bad side, so she reluctantly got off Thunder Colt.

"Can someone tell me what in the name of Celestia is going on?" Thunder Colt said. "And why did the filly-fooler decided to tackle me like I was some sort of criminal!"

"Ok everyone just shut up!" The Doctor shouted. The group all stared at him quietly. "Thank you. Now to answer your question, Thunder Colt, Spitfire was just poisoned, and the rest of the drinks were poisoned as well. It seems that the killer had poisoned the drinks, and the last people to touch the drinks were the boys, and Tiny and Orion have alibis"

"What so you think I killed them?! That's insane!"

"We have enough evidence to prove it Thunder, now come quietly or we will have to-"

Then all the lights in the barracks shut off.

"Nopony Move!" The Doctor said

"AGH!" said a voice.

"What's going on?!" Rainbow said.

"WAH!" The Doctor said, falling to the ground. "What the..." The Doctor said, examining the box he could hardly see. "Of course..."

"Ohh, are we throwing a nobody can see party?" Surprise said.

As the lights turned on the group could only look at the body of Thunder Colt, a big knife in his back.

"AHHHHH!" the group yelled shocked by the body in front of them.

"Wait, but I thought..." Rainbow said.

"Oh no..." Surprise said as her mane started to deflate.

"Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Doctor, you are going to tell us who the killer is now or I will have you arrested for impersonating a royal detective," Commander Hurricane said.

"EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP AND LET ME BLOODY THINK," The Doctor said, quieting the room. "Ok, I want everypony except Rai...Prism to go to the mess hall, am I clear?"

"Ok," the group said as they each walked out of the room.

"Doctor, what are we going to do?" Rainbow said.

"Mrs. Rainbow," The Doctor said, "I need you to make soup."

The Mess Hall

As the group sat at the table they all were looking at each other, each pony waiting for the other to make a move.

"SOUP’S UP!" The Doctor said as he passed the food around.

"Well, this has been a terrible day for all of us. The Wonderbolts might get shut down, Thunder Colt is dead, and yet we still take dinner," The Doctor said. "And then someone tried to poison Spitfire. Any one of you had the chance to put cyanide in all the drinks. It’s a good thing Spitfire took a drink when she did, or else all the cadets could be dead."

"Well, Doctor, as much as we want this to end, you still have not told us who the killer is, and you know who it is," Commander Hurricane said. "So why don’t you just tell us who it is?!" he yelled.

"Well, dear, Hurricane, it’s because I don't know who it is," The Doctor said.

"WHAT?!" Commander Hurricane said. "Then why did you tell us you knew who it was?!"

"Because, I knew the killer would panic, and in doing so he would react in a way that would give me clues about who it is. In fact, that whole ordeal with Spitfire gave me an idea," The Doctor said.

"And what would that be?" Tiny Dust said.

"Well, poison," The Doctor said before everyone spit out their food. "Eat up. I've laced the soup with a special serum of my making.".

"Ah, I thought it was a little too spicy," Surprise said, eating her food again despite what The Doctor said.

"And the active ingredient of this serum is a type of chemical that reveals the true person he or she is hiding. So, anyone got the shivers?" The Doctor said. There was a crash of thunder and the windows blew open.

"What the deuce is that?" Commander Hurricane said.

"Show yourself, Killer!" Spitfire said.

"Nobody move, stay where you are!" The Doctor said.

"You just had to meddle with my plans, Doctor," a familiar voice said. "It would have been a simple kill, in and out, but then you had to intervene!"

"It can’t be!" Rainbow said.

"Well, then I'm just going to have to improvise!" Tiny Dust said, holding a butter knife.

"Tiny?!" Commander Hurricane said. "You're the killer?"

"Yes, I am," Tiny said. "You see, Commander, it was you who I was trying to kill, but when The Doctor and Prism arrived I had to be extra stealthy, and when a road worker saw me with a knife outside of Commander Hurricane’s office, he had to go."

"But the drinks, you poisoned all of them. You would have died too!" Spitfire said.

"But he wouldn’t," The Doctor said. "I found a box underneath his bed. It had ginger beer, walnuts, and anchovies, plus a firecracker to get a shock."

"I learned about the cure for poison when reading a book I found, so I prepared myself," Tiny said. "After all of you were dead I would have blamed it on you, Doctor. Then I would have killed Hurricane and The Wonderbolts would be shut down!"

"Why, why would you want the Wonderbolts to shut down?" Rainbow asked.

"A couple of years ago I was approached by a stranger. He told me that in the future Nightmare Moon would return, and The Wonderbolts would betray Equestria, turning into a group called The Shadowbolts."

"The Shadowbolts?" Rainbow said, shocked.

"After my daughter was born I decided to act so that I could train my little Lightning Dust in the ways of the Wonderbolts, the proper way!"

"Lightning Dust, that's your daughter's name?!" Rainbow said angrily.

"Yeah, it's a name that will strike fear into her enemies," Tiny said.

"Ok Tiny Dust, by the order of Celestia, you are under arrest for the murder of Thunder Colt and an official Wonderbolt worker!" Commander Hurricane said.

"Not if you can't catch me!" Tiny said, pushing the table forward sending all except Rainbow and The Doctor back into the wall, and he then ran out the door

"Oh no, you don't!" Rainbow said, running after him.

Chapter 7: The Chase/End

As Tiny Dust ran away from the mess hall he tried to get some air, knowing that he would surely be caught, though he decided to run for it instead. As he ran at top speed he could see Rainbow chasing him, and he was doing his best to lose her while at the same time Rainbow was trying her best to catch up to him.

"If I could get into the air then I could differently get the upper hand," Rainbow thought to herself. Rainbow then unfolded both her real and metal wing and took off into the sky, but before she could get up to speed in front of Tiny he got into the air as well and started to head to the obstacle course.

"Face it Prism," Tiny said, "you can't catch me. That metal wing is only holding you back!" He then flew into the course and started to rearrange the course, starting with the numerous rain clouds.

"Bucking hell, my wing will rust if I get it wet, and he’s getting away! Rainbow thought.

"Hey, you need some backup?" Spitfire asked. "I'm not letting you have all the fun."

"I’m sorry Spitfire, but I can't let you. He’s dangerous, and his family and I have some history," Rainbow said.

"Hey, we’re a team, remember? Like Commander Hurricane said, we’re swift as a coursing river and as strong as a million stallions. Together we can do amazing stuff."

"Yeah, we can, but we need to catch Tiny, and we can't do it not at this speed," Rainbow said.

"Well, at the distance he’s at, the only thing that could catch up to him would be a Sonic Rainboom, but that’s just a myth."

"A Sonic Rainboom, that's it!" Rainbow said, darting to the group coming out of the mess hall. "Doctor I have an idea."

"What is it?" The Doctor said.

"I need to do a Sonic Rainboom to catch Tiny," Rainbow said.

"Are You Insane?!" The Doctor said "Rainbow, a Sonic Rainboom gave you and your friends a cutie mark, but it was also the first time a Rainboom had been seen in over 100,000 years. If you do one before your younger self does, it could have massive effects on the timeline."

"Then what can I do?!"

"Well Rainbow, when you perform the Sonic Rainboom you are traveling at 7,610 MPH, so if you were to catch Tiny you would need to be able to fly at a speed that is at least 7,600 MPH, which means you will need to literally stop flying the second you feel the Boom happen. That way you can catch Tiny at the given speed needed," The Doctor said.

"So, you want me to stop mid-Boom?" Rainbow said. "Is that even possible with my metal wing?"

"Theoretically yes, but there is a 10% chance that if you stop at mid-Boom, your wings will physically give way and disintegrate," The Doctor said. "But don't worry, it’s a 10 out of 100% chance."

"Oh yeah don't worry, it's not like my wing is going to completely disintegrate or anything!!" Rainbow said in a stern but worried tone.

"Hey, listen, you can do this," Orion said as he walked over to Rainbow and The Doctor. "If you get enough speed to the point where you can pull of the Sonic Rainboom, then all you have to do is slow down a bit. It's just like running, but with wings."

"Ok, I'll do it, just..." Rainbow looked up into the storm clouds, then back at The Doctor and Orion. "If I don't make it, tell Applejack that I love her, and that she was the best thing to ever happen to me in the entire world, and also to not kill you for letting me die."

"Well then, we better make sure that doesn’t happen," The Doctor said. "Go and catch that killer."

Rainbow kicked herself off the ground and leaped into the air. As she flew into the obstacle course she could feel the rain, wind, and freezing temperatures on her coat, her fur getting tiny flakes of frost. As she looked at her metal wing she could see that it was starting to freeze up a little so she sped up, faster and faster, then started to fly forward at top speed. She could feel the pressure of the sky funneling in as the sky started to form a triangular shape around her, and she could feel her face getting pulled back at the sheer pressure. Then, she could see Tiny Dust flying toward the clear sky. As she got closer and closer she could feel just the Sonic Rainboom forming, so just before the boom she jolted herself back and sent a powerful gust of air at Tiny.

"What the?!" Tiny said as he started to lose control of his wings and fell downward. "AHHHHHHHH!"

"Ah, bucking hell," Rainbow said, knowing that she would have to save him, despite not wanting to do so. She bolted down towards the falling pony and put her hoof out in front of her, then flew directly under Tiny. "You’re not getting away that easily" Rainbow said.

Wonderbolts Training Camp - Runway

As Rainbow flew down onto the runway she could feel Tiny struggling to get out, so she increased the pressure of her squeeze, to suggest he stop.

"You think this is over? When I get the chance I'm coming for you, Prism!" Tiny said.

"Yeah, good luck doing that behind bars," Rainbow replied.

"Prism," Commander Hurricane said as Rainbow landed. "You caught Tiny, good work."

"Thank you sir, but if it wasn’t for Spitfire, I would have never done it," Rainbow said. "She was the one who gave me the idea."

"No, Prism, you caught him. You should get the praise," Spitfire replied.

"Well, it doesn’t matter who came up with what, you both are heroes," Commander Hurricane said. "You are both going to be great Bolts someday."

"Thank you, sir," Spitfire said.

"Yeah, thanks sir," Rainbow said.

"Now, as for Tiny," Commander Hurricane said, turning to Tiny Dust, "I have called Celestia and told her what happened. She has sent two royal guards to come and take you in."

"You think that prison can hold me?!" Tiny said. "When I escape, I'm going to come for all of you, especially you, Doctor!"

"Come one, let's go," Commander Hurricane said.

"Um, sir?" Spitfire said. "What about our training?"

"I’m afraid that because of what happened, the Academy will have to be temporarily closed as the investigation is taking place," Commander Hurricane said. "But as soon as it's over you are free to return. I will hold your applications until you come to get them or when I see you at the next training session."

"Yes sir!" Spitfire said as Commander Hurricane walked away with Tiny to the now-arriving Royal Guards.

"So, now what do we..." Rainbow said before getting confetti shot in her face, yet again.

"Hey Guys!!!" Surprise said.

"AHHHHH" Rainbow said, jumping back. "Pink...Surprise what the hay?"

"Oh, sorry Prism, I didn’t mean to frighten you, but I wanted to take a group photo to keep in my scrapbook," Surprise said, holding out her camera.

"Where did she get...." Spitfire said.

"Just don't question it," Orion said. "Trust me, it’s no use trying."

"Come on everypony, get in for a picture!" Surprise said, waving her hooves to get everypony in the shot. "Ok, everypony say Cherry-Chimichanga!!!"

"Cherry-Chimichanga!!" the group said as the camera flashed four times, indicating the pictures were taken.

"Here, I made one for each of you," Surprise said, handing out the photos.

"Thanks, Surprise," Rainbow said. "So what are you two planning on doing until the Wonderbolts open again?"

"Well, I have to head back to the farm to help out the family, and I have to plan a wedding too, so I’ll be busy"

"Yeah, well, because I was a part of this whole ordeal, I’ll most likely be helping Commander Hurricane with the investigation and the court case against Tiny," Spitfire said. "What about you, Orion? What are you going to do?"

"I don't think The Bolts are cut out for me...I think I might try my hoof at the Royal Guard, I hear they are looking for recruits" Orion said.

"Really? damn...I hope we can see each other again at some point" Spitfire said smiling.

"Yah I do too" Orion would say smiling back

"Well, The Doctor and I have to get back home. I think we’ve had enough excitement for one day," Rainbow said.

"So you're leaving too then?" Spitfire asked "Well... 'll make sure to look out for you alright?"

"Ill keep you on that promise!" Rainbow said smiling

Outside The T.A.R.D.I.S

"Well, Mrs. Dash," The Doctor said, "this has been quite the adventure."

"You’re telling me," Rainbow said. "Applejack will never believe me when I tell her what happened."

"Yeah, well, that happens a lot," The Doctor said as Rainbow entered the TARDIS, but before he could step in Surprise came walking up to him.

"Hey Doctor!" Surprise said.

"Oh, Miss Surprise, what are you doing here?" The Doctor asked.

"Oh, I just came to see you go, and to wish you luck,"

"Oh, well thank you,"

"Hey Doctor," Surprise said. "What is wrong with your eyes?"

"What… What do you mean?"

"They just look so… old and sad," Surprise replied.

"How… how do you-" The Doctor said before getting interrupted by Rainbow.

"Doctor, hurry up!" Rainbow said from inside the TARDIS.

"Listen Surprise, I really need to go," The Doctor said.

"Ok, just be careful. I know you’re from Ponyville, Prism told me," Surprise said. "I know they have had a really Bad Wolf problem."

The Doctor stared at Surprise for just a second, then slowly entered the TARDIS, closing the door on a now-empty lot of grass.

The T.A.R.D.I.S

As The Doctor entered the TARDIS with Rainbow, he could see that she was all sweaty and exhausted. "And I thought Spitfire was a tough teacher," Rainbow said.

"Well, hopefully, you now know how to fly using that metal wing of yours," The Doctor said.

"Yes, I do," Rainbow said, "and I’m now faster than ever before."

"Good," The Doctor said. "Now let's get you back to your time zone.”

As the TARDIS made that noise again, Rainbow was burning with a question for The Doctor and couldn’t wait any longer to ask it.

"Doctor?" Rainbow asked. "Will me and Applejack make it through what is happening with Lightning Dust?"

The Doctor froze.

"I’m sorry, Rainbow. I’m not allowed to tell you your future," The Doctor said. "I can only tell you this… You will both have great happiness and sorrow, that is yet to come."

"Will… Will Me or Applejack die?"

"I am afraid that is all I can tell you." The Doctor said

The TARDIS grew silent. When the door opened, Rainbow could see Sweet Apple Acres.

"Now usually I would come to explain why we were late," The Doctor said, "but we can't stay here."

"Why, is something bad about to happen?"

"No, not at all… Well, you will see, or rather you will hear."

"Okay then… Well, I hope to see you soon, Doctor," Rainbow said.

"Oh, trust me, you will see me very soon," The Doctor said.

As Rainbow Dash exited the TARDIS, the box slowly began to disappear, until just like that, it was like it was never even there.

"Wonder what he meant by that?" Rainbow Dash thought to herself as she headed to her loving wife waiting for her at the barn.
