“So…that beanie on your head. What purpose does it serve?”

Starlight Glimmer looked up from the sandwich she was eating in the Canterlot High School cafeteria. “Huh?”

Twilight Sparkle gestured to their friend Sunset Shimmer. “Well Sunset said that you weren’t wearing clothes before you went through the portal. So, when you, her, and the um, the princess version of me come into our world, the portal magically creates clothes for you. Right?”

“Right,” Sunset said, nodding her head.

“So, you have enough clothes and the portal makes sure you’re decent. Every article of magically generated clothing serves a purpose. But…what about your beanie?”

“You mean this hat?” Starlight asked, removing her beanie and examining it curiously.

“She makes a good point. Me and Princess Twilight don’t get hats when we go through the portal. I wonder why you do?” Sunset said, rubbing her chin in thought.

Starlight stared at her hat with a mix of confusion and wonder. “I don’t…know…” she hummed.

Rainbow Dash looked up from her meal. “Are we really talking about this?”

“As much as I enjoy any conversation about fashion, I would have to agree with Rainbow on this one,” Rarity said, taking a sip of her drink and clearing her throat. “I’m afraid I have little experience with magical portals creating hats, and thus cannot offer any explanation as to what makes Starlight’s headgear so special. Besides, there are more important things to talk about. Such as, what are our plans for the upcoming break?”

Applejack shrugged. “Ah don’t have anything pressing Ah need to get done at home, so I’m game for anything y’all have got planned fer the March break.”

“Uh, girls?” Fluttershy spoke up.“Did anyone else just get a text from Pinkie? She sounds…”

“GIRLS!” Pinkie Pie cried as she ran into the cafeteria, her eyes filled with tears, arms waving above her head, screaming as if the school was on fire. “I JUST HEARD THE WORST NEWS!”

“Whoa, whoa! Pinkie what’s wrong?” Sunset gasped as Pinkie slammed her hands against the table, pausing to catch her breath.

“Pinkie? Are you crying?” Fluttershy asked, her voice dripping with concern.

“It’s just the worst!” Pinkie sobbed. “It was SO beautiful, why’d they have to close it?! WHYYYY?!

Fluttershy and Sunset both got up from their seats to offer their friend a hug, but Sunset was closer. “Pinkie, it’s gonna be okay,” Sunset said, wrapping Pinkie up in a hug and rubbing the back of her shoulder.

“No, it’s nooooott!” Pinkie wailed, big, fat tears spilling out of her eyes.

“Look, just take a deep breath, and tell us what’s wrong Pinkie,” Applejack said gently.

“To quote Rarity, of all the worst things that could happen it’s just the WORST…POSSIBLE…THING!” Pinkie cried. “They’re closing Disney Quest!”

“NO!” Twilight and Rainbow cried at once, leaping up from their seats.

“What? That’s terrible! Oh, Sweetie Belle always loved the place,” Rarity sighed.

“Ah, dang it. Apple Bloom loved that place too. We hardly ever get ta go to Disney World as a family too, why’d them business folks have to do something stupid like that,” Applejack groaned.

“I think I still have that one toy from Sid’s Create-A-Toy somewhere…” Fluttershy sighed wistfully.

“Um, sorry for being the odd one out, but what’s Disney Quest?” Starlight asked.

“WHAT?!” Pinkie shouted. She grabbed Starlight by the shoulders and shook her. “Disney Quest is only the coolest, best-est, indoor arcade theme park EVER!”

“Easy, Pinkie,” Sunset said as she pried Pinkie’s fingers off the startled Starlight’s shoulders. “From another world, remember? I’ve only heard about Disney World online, myself.”

“Disney World?” Starlight asked. Pinkie let out a huge gasp before her head hit the table. Her arms looped around to cover the top of her head, shutting her off from the world.

“Okay, you remember that Disney Renaissance movie night marathon we had a little while ago?” Sunset asked.

“Oh yeah…” Starlight slowly smiled. “I liked Belle and Mulan. Aladdin was really cool too. Genie kind of reminds me of Discord, except bluer. Funnier too, but uh, don’t tell him I said that.”

“Well those are all movies made by the Walt Disney Company,” Sunset explained.

Starlight rolled her eyes. “I gathered that much. But what’s Disney World and Disney Quest?”

“Well, Walt Disney World is this huge, multi-park, theme park in Florida,” Twilight explained. “It started back in 1971-”

“Hold on Twilight, there’s a lot of info to go over,” Sunset interrupted her. “I can show you the stuff I’ve read online later, but basically it’s a huge theme park and the ‘Happiest place on Earth’. The main parks are Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios-”

“MGM,” Pinkie mumbled.

“…and Animal Kingdom,” Sunset continued. “Plus, two water parks, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach. Each park has its own rides, attractions, shows, restaurants, and characters you can meet.”

“Sounds like fun,” Starlight said with a smile. “And I’m guessing Disney Quest is a part of Disney World?”

“From what I’ve read, Disney Quest is like an indoor theme park mixed with a video game arcade,” Sunset explained.

“Oh. Well we have some video games in Equestria, though they’re not quite as-”

Pinkie got back up on her feet. “Sunnny, Sunny,” Pinkie chastised her, interrupting Sunset and Starlight with a shake of her head. “You’re not doing Disney Quest justice! Think about how unique an indoor arcade/theme park is! Can you think of ANY place in the world that’s like Disney Quest?”

Applejack pulled out her phone and did a quick search on it. “Well, says here that they’re building some kinda NBA interactive experience...”

Pinkie wrinkled her nose in disgust. “They’re not even replacing it with something Disney?! Just some boring, bland, basketball thingy?!”

Rainbow frowned. “Hey!”

“Well, if you like basketball or NBA, that’s fine, that’s whatever,” Pinkie said, waving her hand in dismissal. “But they could have built their NBA thingy some place else! Like that ESPN world of sports place, they’re already doing sports stuff there! But why do they need to tear something as fun and unique as Disney Quest for that! It’s not fair!” she wailed.

She shut her eyes tight, wiping out the last of her tears, and pulled out her phone. Her eyes opened, filled with determination, as she typed furiously into the Google search engine. “I’ve tried emailing the people in charge of Disney World, but haven’t heard anything back yet. So, in the meantime, I’m saving and downloading every picture, video, and Wiki article about Disney Quest. The childhoods of boys and girls everywhere will survive!” She raised a fist dramatically into the air. “SURVIVE!”

“If it’s closing soon, can’t you just go there and record stuff for your last visit?” Starlight suggested.

“Florida’s a long way from here,” Applejack pointed out. “And dang expensive ta get to. Then of course, there’s the ticket prices for getting in, a hotel room if yer planning on staying fer more than a day…”

“Sweetie Belle would be heartbroken if she didn’t get to visit it one more time…” Rarity mused. “If we’ve no better plans for our March break, why don’t we all take a Disney vacation?”

Pinkie grinned and grabbed Rarity by her shoulders. “You mean it? Yay! This’ll be the best vacation EVER!” She let go of Rarity and started jumping from joy. “Not only do we get to see Disney World, but we get to introduce Sunset and Starlight to the whole Disney Quest-perience!”

Starlight smiled sheepishly. “Well, if it’s as amazing as you say it is, I’m up for giving it a try. Although, if we’re traveling away from the mirror portal, I’ll need to let Princess Twilight know I’ll be gone for a week.”

“I’ll need to ask my parents to look after Spike,” Twilight mused to herself.

“If we have time after Disney Quest, I’d love to see Animal Kingdom again,” Fluttershy mumbled happily.“Maybe spend some time in Epcot too…”

“My parents would approve of Sweetie Belle joining us for this experience. She’d never forgive me otherwise,” Rarity said, tapping away notes into her phone.

“Apple Bloom’d wanna come,” Applejack said. “But still, it’ll be dang expensive…”

“And I gotta bring Scoots along for this ride!” Rainbow said, hitting the palm of her hand with her fist with a determined grin. “I wanna smash some bad guys, blast some aliens, and ride that sweet Cyberspace coaster with her!”

“There will be a lot of stuff to plan,” Sunset said, tapping her chin in thought. “I’ve stayed in a hotel before, but this will be my first time in a Disney hotel. Sweet Celestia, this’ll be my first time on a plane…

“Alright, settle down y’all,” Applejack said, holding her hands up.“That’s eight tickets fer all of us, plus three tickets for our sisters. That means plane tickets, park tickets, hotels – Ah mean, don’t get me wrong, I’d love to spend our March break going ta Disney World and seeing Disney Quest before it closes, but can we afford all that?”

The girls quieted down a bit. Twilight and Sunset both typed into their phones, searching for information on what tickets would cost for all of them. As they were doing the calculations in their head, the school’s vice principal approached their cafeteria table.

“Good afternoon students,” Vice-Principal Luna greeted them. “I couldn’t help but overhear your discussion. Planning on a Disney vacation over the March break?”

Pinkie looked up at her with a smile. “Yeah, but we mostly wanna visit Disney Quest and record as much of it as we can to the point that nostalgia is flooding our brains and we can replay the game intros and the games themselves in our heads over and over, so we can keep the best video game arcade slash theme park ever alive in our hearts forever and ever, because we need to keep the memory of Disney Quest alive, because they’re planning on closing it down to make way for some stupid, boring, dullsville, NBA experience. So, whatcha doing for the March break?”

While Twilight, Fluttershy, and Starlight had trouble keeping up with Pinkie’s fast-paced explanation, Luna caught the general idea of it. “They’re closing Disney Quest?” she asked with wide eyes.

Pinkie sighed sadly. “In a few months.”

“I see.… Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Excuse me….” Luna reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. She dialed a number and impatiently tapped her foot on the floor as she waited for someone to answer. “Celestia? I’m going to Disney World for the March break. Actually, how many students could we afford to take on a field trip to Disney World?”

The girls looked up at her with wide eyes. “Say what?!” Pinkie asked, a grin spreading on her face.

“Hold on a minute Celestia,” Luna said, covering the phone with her hand before she turned to the girls. “Disney Quest must be saved, my friends. I know how difficult it can be to get Disney to reopen an old attraction, nay almost impossible. I am putting a lot of hope in the ‘almost’.”

Pinkie nodded frantically. “Oh, if they open it up again in a few months or even a few years, I’d be super-duper happy.”

“But as the old saying goes, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. If there is nothing we can do to prevent that most wonderous of arcades from closing, we must do everything we can to preserve our memories of Disney Quest. Money is not an issue when it comes to preserving those blissful memories of playing retro and virtual reality games all day long. For Disney-fans, for gamers, for the young, and the young at heart! We MUST keep the magic alive!”

“THIS...I...PROMISE!”

With that dramatic declaration, the bell for the end of lunch rang and the students hurried to their next classes. Sunset, Pinkie, and their friends were already feeling pumped at the awesome vacation plan they had set in motion.

Equestria Girls go to Disney Quest

It had taken over two weeks but Principal Celestia and Vice-Principal Luna were successful in organizing a field trip to Disney World. Several students were going on the trip along with Sunset Shimmer and her friends. Flying on an airplane for the first time was quite an…experience for Starlight Glimmer, but she had made it through the worst of the journey and now she was experiencing the wonders of Disney World for the very first time.

At the All Star Movies resort, Starlight stared up at the gigantic statue of Buzz Lightyear and whistled in amazement. “Now I know how Twilight felt.”

“How I felt about what?” Twilight asked as she and Sunset walked over to Starlight.

“Sorry, I meant Princess Twilight. Ooh, did I ever tell you this story?” Starlight said, smiling at Sunset. “I was visiting Canterlot to help Princesses Celestia and Luna with a friendship problem. Princess Twilight couldn’t come but she was so worried about my visit that she took control of this toy sized ballerina in a music box and used it to talk to me, even though she was still in Ponyville!”

She turned back to stare up at the Buzz statue. “Seeing how huge this toy is…well, you can figure out the rest.”

“And do you know WHO that toy is?” Pinkie asked as she slid right up to Starlight, giving her a suspicious look.

Sunset sighed. “Like I texted you the last FIVE times you asked me this, we had a movie night to bring Starlight up to speed on everything she’d need to know at Disney Quest.”

Starlight smiled and nodded. “I’ve seen the first Pirates of the Caribbean, Wreck-It Ralph, and all three Toy Story movies.”

Pinkie sighed in relief. “Phew! Along with Aladdin, that should be everything you need to know.” She paused and hummed in thought. “Why didn’t you see the Pirates sequels?”

Starlight shrugged. “Sunset told me that they made four sequels, and unfortunately I didn’t have time to watch all of them.”

“But you had two weeks!” Pinkie exclaimed.

“And my life back in Equestria,” Starlight pointed out. “As much as I’d like to spend everyday watching movies, I’d miss having magic. I’d miss my friends.”

Pinkie waved her hand in dismissal. “Trust me Starry, Disney World’s got plenty of magic and friendship to go around.” She grinned wildly and started bouncing up and down. “Now come on! We gotta get to Disney Quest before the place closes!”

“Now simmer down, sugarcube!” Applejack said as she and the rest of their friends made their way over to Starlight, Sunset, Twilight, and Pinkie. “Since we’re all here mostly ta remember Disney Quest, Ah reckon we wanna be there a full day. Sun’s already down, so we…Hey! Apple Bloom, git over here! Come on girls, keep up with us!”

“Sorry sis,” Apple Bloom said as she, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo hopped out of the Toy Story RC statue that they had squeezed into and rushed over to join them.

“Now listen up, y’all. It’s too late ta go to a park and properly enjoy it, so for now let’s all git settled into our rooms. We can grab dinner, maybe check out the pool or the TV, and make sure we’re all bright up an’ early for tomorrow. That sound fair?” Applejack asked.

The girls all nodded and headed towards their rooms.

“WHEE! It’s still here, it’s still here!” Pinkie squealed with joy as she pulled her friends towards Disney Quest the next morning, just before 11:30.

“Whoa. Big place,” Starlight commented as she examined the five-story building. She tilted her head and stared at the logo. “That’s got to be the most unique way I’ve ever seen the letter Q written.”

“Ooh! Thanks for reminding me Starlight! Pictures!” Pinkie squealed again as she took out a camera from her backpack and began snapping photos.

After about twenty flashes and beeps, Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow. “Gee Pinkie, do you think you took enough?”

“I’m not letting ANY detail go to waste!” Pinkie declared as she finally put her camera back in her backpack. “That’s why I brought not only my phone, but also SEVENTEEN cameras!”

“Seventeen?!” Starlight exclaimed. “How did you fit them all in your bag?”

Applejack crossed her arms and smirked. “Ah always figured ya had more in common with Mabel than Dipper.”

“Who?” Starlight asked.

As Pinkie let out a huge, wide-eyed gasp, Sunset quickly got in between her two friends. “Okay, we’re here to appreciate Disney Quest, right? We can bring Starlight up on Gravity Falls later. Trust me, you’ll love it Starlight.”

Pinkie nodded. “You’re right, Sunset. Gravity Falls will always be there for us, but Disney Quest is fading fast! We need twenty CC’s of friendship, Disney magic, and memories FAST! Tally ho!” Pinkie ran into the building giggling all the way. The rest of her friends followed her at a slower but still very excited pace.

“Sister, sister! There it is!” Luna said as she dragged Principal Celestia with her.

“Luna, settle down. I’m happy to be here too, but please, people are staring,” Celestia whispered.

“I don’t care if my Mickey Mouse ears look ‘silly’ as you call it, this is the only place in the world where said ‘silliness’ is encouraged!”

“Mouse ears aside, can we at least wait before we go in? I just saw Sunset and her friends go inside, and it’s always so awkward to see students outside of school.” Celestia rolled her eyes. “Not to mention that if Disney magic isn’t the ONLY kind of magic we find in there, I’d rather not get caught up in any Equestria shenanigans while we’re on vacation.”

As the two sisters argued and made their way over to Disney Quest, Pinkie was already inside the main entrance, rapidly taking pictures of everything that she saw.

“Come on girls, get out your cameras! Disney Quest must be preserved!”

As the girls got their wristbands scanned in to enter Disney Quest, Starlight spent some time looking at the busts of famous Disney characters sitting at the top of a few pillars. “Okay let’s see here…we’ve got Pinocchio, Jafar, that’s Pocahontas, there’s Buzz Lightyear, there’s Maleficent…which movie is the duck guy from?”

“Mighty ducks, I think,” Sunset answered.“It’s a movie about an ice hockey, but that’s all I know about it.”

“Okay. And this word on the banner, it’s…Super…Super-cal…what?! How do you pronounce that?”

Pinkie immediately jumped in between the two transfigured unicorns. “Oh, it’s…

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious

If you say it loud enough, you'll always sound precocious!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”

Before Pinkie could get into the next verse, Sweetie Belle reached up and slapped her hand over Pinkie’s mouth and shook her head. “Don’t sing the whole song! We haven’t gotten Scootaloo to see Mary Poppins and we don’t want any spoilers!”

“Girls, come along now” Rarity said as she, Applejack, and Rainbow Dash led Apple Bloom, Sweetie, and Scootaloo got into the elevator.

“Okay, the Genie is going to help you all up and then he’s going to come back down for your friends. Take it away Genie,” a Disney Quest cast member said before the elevator closed behind the six girls.

Still out in the front entrance, Pinkie gasped.“Wait, Genie?!

“Hold on, back up a bit. What does super…that word even mean?!” Starlight asked, her mind feeling a tiny bit overwhelmed at the majesty of supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.

Twilight pulled up her phone and searched for the word. “It’s a word that comes from another Disney movie, Mary Poppins. It has a few different meanings. It’s a way to say something is incredibly good but it can also be used as ‘something to say when you have nothing to say’. It can also mean ‘Atoning for educability through delicate beauty’. It’s also known as one of the longest words in English. However the actual longest word in English is…”

“Okay, that’s enough egg-head talk for now. Let’s go!” Pinkie said, impatiently pushing Twilight towards the elevator.

“What? But I wanted to-”

Sunset sighed and stuffed Twilight's phone back into her backpack. “Come on Twilight, even you have to side with Pinkie on this one. I’m pretty sure the longest English word literally takes an hour to pronounce.

A stunned Starlight followed her friends into the elevator, shaking her head.“Never thought I could learn so much in an arcade.”

When the elevator touched back down, Pinkie, Twilight, Fluttershy, Starlight, and Sunset got on next. Pinkie’s awed grin grew even wider as the Cybrolator started up. She pulled out a camera and started recording as the elevator lights flickered on and off with a crackling sound before they shut off completely. The Genie’s head appeared on a screen in front of the girls, coughing out a cloud of smoke.

“Oh, hey. I specifically asked for a non-smoking flight!”

The Genie then appeared to the right side, full bodied and transformed into a blonde woman wearing a flight attendant uniform.

“Welcome aboard Cybrolator. Our estimated flight time to Ventureport will be oh, forty-five seconds.” As the Genie turned his head, the blonde wig briefly flew off his head before he snatched it up and put it back on, adjusting his wig and uniform.

The Genie leaned closer to the screen with a smile and wagged his finger. “Remember, it’s not an elevator!”

The flight attendant Genie disappeared just as another Genie appeared in his normal clothes, in the pilot seat of a rocket ship shouting, “It’s an ADVENTURE!” The rocket ship flew around the screen before cutting to the next scene.

Another Genie wearing a yellow vest and red tie hovered by two computer screens, one of the screens displaying a countdown. He filed his nails and calmly announced, “Cybrolator, you are cleared for liftoff.”

Another Genie appeared beside him, with a brown mustache and wearing a red sweater. “Captain! We’re overloaded! We can’t take that kind of pressure!”

The other Genie ignored the distressed Genie’s warnings and spun around, shooting lightning at him with a few quick finger bangs. The distressed Genie disappeared as the calm Genie smiled in satisfaction.

The blonde Genie reappeared, standing next to a whirlpool. “In the unlikely event of a water landing, your friends or family members can be used as flotation devices!” He grinned as a thin blue water tube with his face on it appears around his waist.

Pinkie grabbed Fluttershy in a hug at this point, causing Fluttershy to shoot a bewildered look in her direction.

The flight attendant Genie disappeared, and the Genie reappeared as a big blue rocket ship, with his face at the top.

“Three, two, one, ignition!”

The rocket ship briefly started up but remained on the ground, belching out a lot of smoke.

“Uh, Houston?” Genie asked.

Another second passed before the rocket ship blasted off into space. Electricity started to crackle around the Cybrolator. As the Cybrolator began to rise, the screen zoomed into the middle of space, focusing on the giant laser from Ventureport. An explosion broke out through the screen and the Genie came flying and spiraling towards the girls, screaming with joy before he teleported away.

Stars sparkled in the elevator ceiling as the Cybrolator doors opened and the Genie cheered, “Welcome to Ventureport!”

“YAY! I got it all!” Pinkie cheered as she hugged her phone to her heart, dancing all the way out of the Cybrolator.

“Whoa. They should call that thing the ‘Hype-brolator’! Eh?” Starlight said, nudging Sunset’s shoulder.

Sunset rolled her eyes at the joke, but Twilight, Fluttershy, and Pinkie were polite enough to chuckle. Starlight’s gaze wandered all over the Ventureport landing. She saw a big Wreck-It Ralph statue standing off in the corner. Apple Bloom and Scootaloo were already taking turns posing next to it as Sweetie took pictures. At the four corners of the landing were the entrances to the Explore zone, the Create Zone, the Score Zone, and the Replay Zone. The Explore Zone entrance was guarded by a tiger’s head, much like the Cave of Wonders had been guarded in Aladdin. A comic book background and a mysterious supervillain framed the entrance to the Score Zone.

Scootaloo pointed at the supervillain and whispered to Rainbow. “Don’t ya think she looks like a cross between Maleficent and a Sith lord?” Rainbow examined the picture of the villain and chuckled, nodding in agreement.

The Create Zone entrance was framed by an artist’s paint palette and a paintbrush. Rarity and Fluttershy were already leaning towards that particular zone. And lastly, the Replay Zone was framed by a simple silver arch with a white and red rocket ship blasting off from the side of it.

Starlight finished her brief spin around the room in amazement before she stared up at the giant laser and pointed at it. “Which movie is that from?”

“Uh, I don’t think it’s from a movie,” Sunset said.

“Yuppers! No backstory behind it, it’s just Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious-ly cool-looking! Just like EVERYTHING else here!” Pinkie sang, jumping up and down. She spread out her arms and grinned. “Alright ponies of Equestria, are you ready for the greatest night of your lives?!”

“Yeah!” Starlight cheered.

“You too, Sunny! I can’t hear you! Are you READY?!”

”YEAH!” the unicorns cheered together.

”Alrighty then! What are we gonna do first?!”
