“Thanks for helping me today,” said Twilight. “No problem,” replied Rainbow Dash,” Besides, the Wonderbolts show doesn’t start for a few hours anyways.” “Anyways, you know how Trixie was a showoff?” Twilight asked Dash. “Yeah, what about it?” replied Rainbow Dash. “Well from what I’ve observed the Wonderbolts seem like showoffs as well. So why do you like the Wonderbolts anyways?” asked Twilight. “Because they’re fast,” Rainbow Dash said. “Well I figured. Well I think this library is looking really good. You can go now,” Twilight said.

Rainbow Dash flew out of the house and back to her house in Cloudsdale. As Rainbow Dash grabbed her Wonderbolt’s hat, she stopped at the door. She stared at the wall, feeling guility for lying to Twilight.

“Mom, why can’t I play a bit longer?” a flightless Filly Rainbow Dash asked her mom. “Because it’s getting dark and we need to get back to our apartment in Manehattan,”her mom replied.

“I’m getting hungry. What’s for dinner mom?” Rainbow asked her mom. “Frozen Pizza,” replied her mom, “I’m putting it in the oven right now.” Rainbow Dash went to her room, and lay down on her bed. She fell asleep without her mom knowing.
Soon after she fell asleep, her mom smelled burning. She went to the kitchen, to find the oven was overheated and on fire, along with the rest of kitchen, and was quickly spreading along the room. Her and Rainbow Dash’s dad ran flew outside and landed on the ground, and saw it was quickly spreading along the building. “Mom? Dad?!” Rainbow Dash said in fear, seeing the flames. Outside, Spitfire, at the time a junior Wonderbolt appeared. Rainbow Dash’s mom said when she saw her, “My daughter’s in there. Please help!” Spitfire quickly looked through the rooms and found Rainbow Dash in the living room, panting, almost passed out. “Mom… dad… where are you?!” Rainbow Dash said, coughing, “Help…. Me…” She collapsed onto the floor, passed out. Spitfire grabbed her with hooves and flew out of the building. Rainbow Dash woke up in her hands and saw her face as Spitfire was flying out of the building. Spitfire put Rainbow Dash into her mom’s hands. “Here you go mam,” Spitfire said. She soared off, Rainbow Dash seeing a glimpse of her before passing out again.

“I’ll never forget that day,” Rainbow said as she walked out the door.

The Fall

“Hi I’m Speedwing,” “and I’m Darkstorm.” “And we’re your announcers for this Wonderbolts Derby here at the new Rainboom Stadium,” they said together. “On your mark, ready, set, GO!” the referee colt said as they took off from the finish line. “And there off!’ said Darkstorm. Many laps, head to head, Spitfire and Fleetfoot were racing fiercely throughout the race. “Oh! This will be the closest match ever! A great way to celebrate to opening of this stadium!” said Speedwing.

“Spitfire and Fleetfoot neck to neck for first place! This will be a close match,” Darkstorm said, “In third place is Soarin’ and in fourth is Rapiddash.” Head to head, Fleetfoot kicked Spitfire’s wing trying to boost ahead, knocking her to the ground. “NO!” yelled Rainbow Dash from the croud. “Oh!” “Timeout,” said the coach. “Uggh,” moaned Spitfire. A medic walked up to her. “Her wing’s really damaged. We’ll have to take her to the hospital,” the Medic said. “It seems that Spitfire is out for at least the next month and a half,” Darkstorm said, “After this game, all derbies are post-phoned for the next 2 months.”

After the game ended, everyone left the derby stadium feeling a little down, especially Rainbow Dash. She looked outside the stadium, seeing 5 familiar silhouettes. “Rainbow!” said Applejack from outside the stadium. “You guys! I’m so glad you came!” Rainbow shouted in delight. “We are very happy to come to any of our friends when they’re in need,” Twilight said. “Let’s get back to Ponyville,” Pinkie Pie said, “because we need to meet back up with someone.”

Ponyville Hospitality

“Ugh,” Spitfire said, laying down in the hospital, her wing up in a cast. In front of her she saw a familiar pony. “How are you doing?” Rainbow Dash asked. “Fine,” Spitfire said, “Just fine.” “Well I brought you these, just in case you want something to do while you’re in here,” Rainbow told Spitfire. “The Daring Do series. Huh. I’ve always wanted to read these. Thanks Rainbow Dash,” Spitfire replied to Rainbow’s generous gift. “The results are in. Spitfire, you will need to stay off your wing for about another 2 ½ months. You’ll have to stay here for another 3-4 days,” said the doctor. “You’ll need to get going Rainbow Dash, and you need to rest Spitfire.” “Okay. I guess I’ll be going now,” Rainbow said to the doctor and Spitfire.

“So, what all did Spitfire say?” asked Twilight. “Not much. She just woke up from the fall,” Rainbow Dash replied. “Wow. 3 hours being down,” Applejack said. “We should just let her be. Once the next Wonderbolt air show is there, we’ll all be there to support her,” Fluttershy said. “After this is all over we should throw her a party!” Pinkie Pie screamed. “Shhhh!” said a Medic from a room nearby. “Sure,” Spike said to Pinkie, “I bet she would need something to cheer her up.” “I most certainly agree,” Rarity said. “Well I’ll be going home now. See you guys later,” Rainbow said, walking out of the hospital. “I guess she’s really bummed about this,” Applejack said. “I’m going to talk to her now,” Twilight said.

Twilight rushed out of the hospital to see Rainbow starting to fly back to Cloudsdale. “Hey, wait!” Twilight shouted at the top of her lungs. Rainbow Dash stopped flying and looked down at Twilight. “What?” she asked Twilight. Rainbow flew down to Twilight, wondering what was wrong. “It’s about you storming off in the hospital. I was wondering what was up with it,” Twilight said. “I-I don’t wanna talk about it,” Rainbow Dash said. She then took off to go back home.

“Okay, you can go now,” the doctor said to Spitfire, “Rainbow, help her out.” “Okay. Got it,” Rainbow Dash told the doctor. Rainbow helped Spitfire out of the hospital, where they saw a crowd of news reporters for various places such as PNN, Equestria Daily, and various other new places. “Tell us what it was like!” a news reporter from PNN said. “Is there any confirmation on what is gonna happen next to the Wonderbolts?” asked a news reporter from Equestria Daily. “What is going to happen because of the broken wing?” asked a reporter from The Canterlot Times. “Hey, you guys back off! Or, or, I’ll fight you!” Rainbow told them. “Bring it then!” various reporters said. “Fine then,” Rainbow Dash told them.

Rainbow saw many reporters come at her at once, and she didn’t know what to do. She just started fighting. Rainbow had put one hoof on the ground and jumped off, while keeping that hoof on the ground used her wings to spin in a circle, kicking all the reporters around her. After they had fallen, more came in to attack, and she had fought in hoof-to-hoof combat. She had made most of the reporters fall to the ground. “You want some more?” Rainbow shouted. An angry reporter had ran behind her, ready to attack, and she had sensed someone behind her, so while the reporter was running, she put her hoof out and had knocked the reported to the ground. The other reporters fled from the scene right after.

“Wow,” said Spitfire, “you didn’t have to do that for me.” “Well, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do,” Rainbow Dash said. But as she was walking Spitfire to a taxi, she heard a yell, “Rainbow, wait up!” And it repeated. It was Spike. “I-I have a letter from the Princess,” Spike said, painting.

Dear Rainbow Dash,
I need your presence at the Canterlot Gardens today at 6:45 PM to talk about a new task I need to give you regarding the recent events. Bring Spitfire with you.

Yours truly,

Princess Celestia.

“I wonder what it’s about,” Spitfire said. “Well, I think we should get going,” Rainbow Dash said. “True that,” said Spitfire. “Let’s get on the Friendship Express. It will be faster,” Rainbow replied to Spitfire. And so the 2 pegasus were off.

“Girls, I brought you here to tell you something. Rainbow Dash, you, along with Fleetfoot, will be watching over Spitfire for the next few months,” Princess Celestia told the girls when they arrived. “Alright, got it,” Rainbow Dash told Princess Celestia. “I will need you to stay in Canterlot for the next few days,” Celestia told them, “just in case.”
