The Harmless Prank
Well... This is my first oneshot. Enjoy.

It was a great day! It was one of the ones that people would spend talking to friends or playing. But for me it was a day of pranking. I wish Pinkie had decided to help me with this. Then again, there were some pranks that Pinkie couldn't do. Like the bit tied to a string trick. That one never got old for me. But at the moment, I had a different prank in mind. The main focus of this one was Fluttershy this time. Pinkie Pie may have discouraged me against it last time but now I was positive Fluttershy could take it. She had recently gotten so much stronger that I'm sure she can take a prank. I had the cloud set up in the tree and the air horn in the bushes. The fake turtle would serve as the attraction to the area. I saw a flash of yellow and pink in the distance. Perfect! I pulled on the string that was attached to the fake turtle. It slide down the shoreline and ant just under the water. I looked over the bush I was hiding behind. She had followed the bait.
"Perfect" I say. I just hoped that the air horn would go off when she tripped the wire. That would trigger the cloud and make it rain. This is the most genius prank I've ever come up with! My thoughts were cut short when I hear the horn go off and I hear Fluttershy squeal. I looked over the bush. There she was. The look on her face was priceless. I fell over laughing. The prank happened just as planned! When I looked over the bushes I noticed that Fluttershy was gone. I was still laughing. I really hope that her feeling weren't hurt to bad. That was probably the best prank I've ever managed to pull off!. I started to walk back to Ponyville still laughing.
It was dark by the time I got back. My laughing had only recently stopped. I then noticed one of my best friends passing by. What is Twi doing out this late? Probably getting a book or looking something up. I laughed at the thought.
I was interrupted by her talking to me. "Oh Rainbow Dash, thank Celestia I found you."
I was curious to know why she was looking for me. "Oh really? What is it Twi?"
"It's Fluttershy. I stopped by her house earlier and heard her crying. She won't even let anyone in to see what's wrong. I was hoping you could go cheer her up."
Oh no. This is my fault isn't it? What happened? I quickly jumped into the air and flew away towards Fluttershy's cottage. I stopped flying once I reached her front door. I could hear Fluttershy crying softly inside behind the walls. I knocked on the door.
"Fluttershy. Fluttershy! Open the door!" I said. It was probably a little rude to talk so loudly to her while she was crying. I remember one thing...she never locked her windows. Yeah, this was a great life lesson. When in doubt, break and enter into your friends house! I flew up to the top window and opened it. It was dark in the room. No lighting were on. I found the door and walked downstairs. There she was. She was crying on her chair with angel patting her back. Judging by the wet spots on the chair, she had probably been crying ever since my prank.
"Fluttershy?" She looked up at me. I couldn't help but feel terrible at the sight of her. Her mane was a mess and her eyes were wet. "You okay?"
"Oh Rainbow, somepony did the meanest thing." She cried as I sat down next to her.
"What did they do?" I asked her. I obviously knew...but maybe somepony else did something to hurt her feelings.
"Somepony used an animal to scare me and a cloud to get me drenched." She started crying again after she finished her sentence. I felt one more pang of guilt. I stopped thinking about it when she laid her head onto my shoulder. I lied myself down with her head falling down onto it. She kept crying while I tried to comfort her. Eventually it all lead to us both falling asleep.
I woke up first. I looked to my right side and noticed Fluttershy sleeping on my shoulder. I wanted to move but didn't want to disturb her. She did look cute the way she was sleeping. Wait, cute? What am I thinking? I can't think of FLuttershy that way, just yesterday I had scared the hay out of her!
She moved. Only a little bit. Fluttershy was always a light sleeper. I remember that from flight camp where she woke up to a bunch of ponies talking quietly at night. Luckily, I didn't wake her. In fact, she snuggled her head more closely into my side. I smiled to myself. What am I doing? Rainbow Dash is NOT a spineless wimp. I can't really be hung up with Fluttershy....right? It was just because I feel bad for pranking her. Then again...the thought of her being snuggled into my side...I felt my wing get a little stiffer. Oh no! Now was not the time for one of these! Think of something else. Fluttershy was directly on top of my right wing! Think of something else then! Um...Daring Do, Pinkie Pie's parties, that time Twilight tried to teach me some flying patterns with algorithms, ANYTHING! It happened anyway. My left wing was fully in the air while my right one strained under Fluttershy's weight. I hear her murmuring something as she begins moving. Great. Here comes the most embarrassing moment of my life. I move out from under her. She didn't wake up...I stood there for at least a minute waiting for it. Nothing. I guess all of that crying took it out of her. And during that entire time of fear my wings had cooled down and were only half high. Oh thank Celestia she didn't wake up!
"Yes!" I said happily under my breath. Big mistake. At those words she opened her eyes and noticed me standing there.My wings half erect. Crud. Time to do some trickery. I stretched my legs out and shook my wings around. "Well I slept great! What about you Fluttershy?"
She rubbed her eyes with her hoof before looking at me and responding "Oh, you're still here Rainbow? I thought you wanted to leave."
I can't believe she thought I would leave. Even after she had been hurt from a prank. My prank. I had to tell her. And why not now? Maybe in her daze she won't hate me for it. "why would I leave? You needed some calming down."
"Oh um right...I'm sorry I wasted your time with that when you could have been doing something else."
"Oh no! I didn't mind it at all Fluttershy! It was the least I could do after the....the..."
"Yes, Rainbow?" She said nicely. Out of anypony else that statement would sound rude. But from her...it sounded sweet and innocent. Again, what am I thinking! This is Fluttershy. Your best friend! I was brave strong and all of that! I couldn't think somepony was cute! Especially weak minded Fluttershy....I want to reword that. I didn't want to make it sound like I was insulting her.
I sighed before I gave my answer "Well Fluttershy, the person who pulled that prank on you....was...me" I said sadly. My head dripped to the floor. I really hope she wasn't upset more by this. I didn't want her crying because of me again!
"But Rainbow, why would you do that?" She had tears in her eyes as she said that. Great! Now I've hurt her feelings twice!
"I didn't mean to hurt you! I was just...pulling a prank...that's all! But I swear I didn't mean to make you cry! It's just that I thought you were getting braver and I thought you could handle a prank!" At least I was honest there.
"It's okay Rainbow....do you really think I'm brave? She said. Was she blushing? I could have been imagining it.
"Really? You aren't mad?" I asked amazed at her answer. I thought that she would be angry at me or sad and start crying. But this was perfect. Oh wait. The question. "Of course Fluttershy! You've been getting so much stronger at everything. Like when we were just under 800 wing power and you helped us reach our goal!" Did she blush again?
"Of course I'm not mad. How could I get mad at my best friend?" She asked me. It was my turn to blush now...Why were my wings stiffening again? Oh no....
"Thanks Fluttershy. You know, my wing is killing me from you sleeping on it." I extended both my wings and fluttered them around. That would hide it.
"Oh, I'm sorry Rainbow." She said sweetly. She was nice.
"Oh It's fine! You look cute while you're sleeping anyway." I said. What did I just say? I probably just said something bad...
"Oh...I'd say the same thing to you Rainbow, but I fell asleep before you..." You know what. She really is a great friend. My thoughts wanted her to be a little more maybe....No, she wouldn't like that. Oh well, she accepted my apology and even told me everything was okay.
"Thanks Shy....say, do you wanna go get breakfast or something? I'm pretty hungry." Please say yes!
"Oh um, well I guess that I've got nothing else to do. Are you sure you want to go with me?" Of course I did! She was my best friend!
"Why would I lie? Come on lets go!" I tell her as I unlock the door and open it. I'm glad we're friends. If I'm lucky, maybe we can become something more someday....what am I thinking? I can't be a special somepony to Fluttershy! Oh well, I could think of all of this at breakfast.
