After his return from Limbo, Flash Magnus goes to reunite with his grandson Flash Sentry.
After his return from Limbo, Flash Magnus goes and reunites with his grandson Flash Sentry and he's so proud of Flash Sentry and so glad to see how much his grandson has grown.
Not long after seeing the world of Equestria in its new state, Flash Magnus lands in the Crystal Empire right in front of Flash Sentry. "What's your name son?" asks Flash Magnus.
"My name is Flash Sentry. My paw says I was named after my great great 20x more great-grandfather," replies Flash Sentry.
"What was your grandfather's name son?" Flash Magnus inquires.
"His name was Flash Magnus," replies Flash Sentry. "You look just like him."
"That's because I am him," replies Flash Magnus. Flash Sentry gasps in semi-disbelief. He had thought for so long that Magnus was dead.
"I thought you were dead," says Flash Sentry stunned.
"No, not dead, banished into Limbo to save you and the rest of the ponies from the Pony of Shadows. Now the Pony of Shadows is gone and I'm back for good," replies Flash Magnus as he embraces Flash Sentry in a great big hug. The two then go off to lunch to catch up.
At lunch, the two talk. "So, you're on the guard now, I'm impressed grandson," sighs Flash Magnus before taking a big gulp of cider.
"Yeah, some things will forever run in the family," giggles Flash Sentry. "My dad's side of the family has been guards going all the way back to you and now I'm one too."
The two soon finish up lunch and three more rounds of cider before going to the Flash family house. There, Flash calls to his dad who comes down and embraces both him and Magnus in a hug. "Hey Magnus," says Flash Sentry's father, Flash Sentry Senior. "It's so good to have you back. I'm so glad you're back."
"Yeah, Limbo got lonely just the six of us," replies Magnus.
"The six of you?" says Flash Sr. surprised.
"Yes, myself, Starswirl, Somnambula, Mistmane, Meadowbrooke, and Rockhoof," replies Flash Magnus. "Now, whatever happened to the old royal squadron flying team?"
"They all retired years ago after you disappeared, you were their best flyer and they thought they couldn't function at their best without you, so they disbanded," replies Flash Sr. with a frown.
Magnus frowns. "Well, I did miss so much, huh?"
"You missed a whole lot," replies Flash Sr. "You missed several years, thousands of years. The Wonderbolts are the major flying team now."
"Can you take me to meet the Wonderbolts then?" inquires Flash Magnus. Flash Jr. nods and he and Flash Magnus fly off towards the Wonderbolts grounds where they land an hour later and are greeted by Spitfire. She stands at attention when she sees Magnus land.
"Hello sir, welcome back sir," she says, standing in salute.
"No need to salute ma'am," says Flash Magnus. "I want to see what your team's got."
"Sir, yes sir," says Spitfire as she grabs Soarin, Rainbow, Sky Stinger, Vapor Trail and the other Wonderbolts and they then take to the skies. They happily put on their best performance for Magnus and Flash Sentry. At the end of it, they land and Magnus compliments them with a smile.
"You guys sure have what it takes to fly for and represent Equestria," says Flash Magnus. "You've led them well, Spitfire."
"Thanks, sir," replies Spitfire. "I do have your horseshoes to fill."
"And you've filled them well," replies Flash Magnus. "Now get back to practice." Spitfire nods and she and the rest of the Wonderbolts take back to the skies. Flash Magnus and Flash Sentry then fly off back to the Crystal Empire themselves where they spend the afternoon chatting it up with Cadence and Shining Armor and playing with Flurry Heart. Flash Magnus is glad to be back in Equestria, back in his home in the Crystal Empire, he's glad to be back where he belongs.
The next day, Flash Magnus and Flash Sr. and Serafina, Flash's mother, go and watch Flash Sentry's Wing Ball game. As they watch, they cheer every time Flash Sentry scores a goal on the other team, the visiting team from Manehattan. If they beat Manehattan tonight, they'll move on to face Cloudsdale which is the biggest game of the tournament. After all five rounds of the game, the Crystal Empire team comes up the champion. They squeal in excitement. They're going on to Cloudsdale to face off against the best of the best at Wing Ball and they couldn't be more thrilled.
As the cheering dies down, Flash's family flies down onto the field and carry him off on their backs. Flash Sentry blushes. He's so glad his family is proud of him. A few minutes later, they arrive at the ice cream palace alongside the rest of the team where they all enjoy the biggest celebratory sundae of them all together. "Great job, grandson," says Flash Magnus. "You did us proud."
"Thanks, Magnus," replies Flash Sentry with a grin as he stuffs a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth. Next week we head off to Cloudsdale for the final game of the tournament."
"And you'll do great, we just know it!" reply Magnus, Flash Sr. and Serafina.
"Awe, thanks, I hope you guys come," replies Flash Jr.
"We wouldn't miss it for the world," replies his family.
A week later, they head off to Cloudsdale. A few hours later, they touch down and head to the Wonderbolt Arena where the Wing Ball game is being held. Once they arrive, Flash Sentry meets up with the rest of his team and heads off to practice before the game starts in the next two hours. He's excited and nervous at the same time. After all, his entire family is watching him and this is the biggest game of the season so it's the one that counts the most.
Two hours later, the crowds fill the stands and the game begins. The ref kicks the ball into the air and Flash Sentry catches it and tosses it to his teammate Reuben Hot Hoof. Hot Hoof catches it and flies it over the next and scores them the point. As the point is scored, the Flash family cheers. Hot Hoof then tosses the ball back to Flash Sentry who catches it and tosses it across to Airborn. Airborn promptly catches it then tosses it back to Reuben who then tosses it to Orange Leaf who then tosses it over the net and scores them the second point. After several rounds, The Crystal Empire Team racks up the most points and wins against Cloudsdale, which ends up ranking them in the second spot of the ranking system, knocking the Manehattan team out of that spot. Flash Sentry and his team are thrilled. They can't believe they beat the best of the best. For them, that is the best feeling in the world. They then go off to get their picture taken with the trophy before heading off to a celebratory lunch. Everything is perfect for Flash Sentry. His great great 20x great granddad is back from the dead and he and his team just won the Wing Ball tournament against Cloudsdale. Things, in his mind, can only get better from here.
One day a few weeks later, Magnus pulls Sentry to the side. "Flash Sentry, son," says Flash Magnus as he hands the shield to Flash, "I want you to have my shield. Then when the time comes, give it to your children."
"I...I don't know what to say," says Flash Sentry as he takes the shield.
"You don't have to say anything, I'm glad to give it to you," replies Magnus with a great big smile. Flash Sentry then takes the shield into his room, hangs it on his wall, and the two fly off to watch a Wonderbolt Derby.
At the Wonderbolt Derby, Magnus cheers as he watches the Wonderbolts fly by overhead. Flash Sentry smiles as he watches his grandfather enjoy himself. Flash is glad his grandfather is back. He really and truly is. A few minutes later, Flash Sentry sneaks off and grabs some snacks before returning to his seat. A few hours later, the Derby comes to an end and the two head off to enjoy dinner together before returning home. Back at the house, Magnus helps Sentry polish the shield properly and Sentry just smiles. He's glad to have the shield. A few minutes later, the two finish polishing it and go and get some homemade pie out of the fridge and eat it as they watch a movie. Everything is perfect for the two of them and they'd have it no other way.
Chapter 4-Flash Introduces Magnus to His Girlfriend, Twilight
The next day, the Sentry family invites Twilight over to dinner. Once she's there, Flash Sentry sits her down and then calls his 20x great grandfather in to sit down right beside himself. "Twilight," says Flash Sentry, "Flash Magnus is my 20x great grandfather!"
"What!" squeals Twilight with a happy giggle, "that is so cool!"
"I thought you'd think so," replies Flash Sentry blushing. He then passes her the plate of noodles and hay-balls. She then loads her plate and hands it to Magnus. The plate then goes around until everyone gets their plates filled. They then begin to eat, Twilight talking with Flash Magnus and Flash Sentry during the dinner when she's not stuffing her mouth with food.
"So," says Twilight to Flash Magnus, "are you happy to be reunited with your family after a thousand years?"
"For sure," replies Flash Magnus, "but it's been an adjustment."
"I bet," replies Twilight. "Well, I'm glad you managed to find your family after all that time away from them."
"Me too," sighs Flash Magnus, "me too."
Around 7:00, Twilight says goodbye to the Flash family and leaves their house but not after giving Flash Sentry a hug and a kiss. "See you tomorrow," she says before flying off.
"I'll see you then," says Flash Sentry as she flies off. He then closes the door and goes off to sit down and watch Disaster in Maretonia: Daring Do Episode XII with his family. He's glad Twilight has met his entire family and he's glad she thinks it's cool that Magnus is his 20x great-grandfather. That's all he could ever truly want. Now, however, it's time for him to just chill out and enjoy a family with his family. It'll be the first movie Magnus has seen in over 1,000 years.
Chapter 5-Flash Magnus Takes Flash Sentry to His Grandmother, Gloria's Grave
One night after dinner, Flash Magnus takes Flash Sentry with him to his deceased wife's grave. "Flash Sentry, pal, this is where your 20x great-grandmother, Gloria is buried. She died from a stroke ten years before I went into Limbo," says Flash Magnus.
"Wow," replies Flash Sentry. "Well, thanks for showing me her grave. It's always cool to learn more about my family lineage."
Flash Magnus then sits down and Sentry sits down beside him and Magnus begins to tell him everything about his 20x great-grandmother. "Your 20x great-grandmother, Gloria, she was an amazing pony with an amazing voice. She was a singer. She was a famous singer. One day while we were on release from the flight squadron, I went to the bar and there she was, just standing there singing. I fell head over hooves for her right then and there. After her performance, I went up and we began to talk."
"Hey handsome," said Gloria to me.
"Hi, you have a nice voice," I replied rubbing my neck nervously.
"Why so nervous?" she then asks.
"I'm not nervous. You're just so beautiful," I reply.
"Well, thank you," she replies with a smile.
"Do you, do you wanna go out for a drink with me?" I ask.
"Sure, but first let me change," she responds. "She then goes backstage, changes, then comes down and joins me and we head off to the nice restaurant up the street. Once we were at the restaurant, we began to talk some more. How long have you been singing?" I ask her.
"Going on fifteen years," she replies.
"That's cool, you're really good at it," I respond. "She then smiles at me and thanks me."
"What do you do for a living?" she then asks me.
"I am on the Royal Flying Squadron," I reply. "A few minutes later, the waiter comes over to us and takes our order. We order a bottle of red wine, she ordered a salad, and I got a nice big, hay steak with a honey glaze and freshly roasted carrots and mini potatoes."
"How long after that did you two tie the knot?" asks Flash Sentry.
"About five years after that, she then settled down and we started a family, but she still sang on the side," Flash Magnus responds. "We were happy. She supported me and wrote me all the time I was in the Squadron."
"That's sweet," Flash Sentry responds.
"Yeah, your 20x great-grandma was the sweetest mare in the world," Flash Magnus says with a smile as he puts a bunch of marigolds on her grave. "Marigolds were her favorite flower."
A few minutes later, the moon finally rises all the way into the sky and the two fly off towards home, as they fly, they continue to talk. Flash Sentry is glad to finally know more about his ancestors because up until now, the only one he ever knew about was Flash Magnus and not even through true stories but just through night tales his father used to tell him all the time as a colt. Now he's hearing them first hoof from Magnus himself and for that, he couldn't be more grateful.
Chapter 6-Flash Sentry Takes Flash Magnus to a Coloratura Concert
It's a bright and sunny afternoon as Flash Magnus and Flash Sentry squeeze into the crowd at the Coloratura concert. Once in their places, Magnus whispers over to Sentry. "What do you call this massive event?"
"It's called a concert. It's an entertainment that all ponies love. It's when a singer sings their best songs for all their fans," responds Flash Sentry.
"I see, so it's a minstrel show?" responds Flash Magnus.
"Not quite, but similar, yes," responds Flash Sentry. "Now be quiet. It's about to begin."
A few minutes later, the lights dim as Coloratura takes to the stage. The spotlights then flip on to reveal her unveiled face. "Hello, Ponyville! It's good to be back!" says Rara. "This first song is in honor of a dear friend of mine. One of the heroes of our time. Applejack. Enjoy." She then begins to sing. "Hero, sister, daughter, granddaughter. She's a wonder. She's saved the world with her friends so many times. I can hardly count them all. She's always so busy. How does she handle it all? At the side of her friends, they save the world together. Together. Together. They saved it from a Bugbear, Discord, Tirek. Chrysalis, Storm King, Tempest Shadow, and Nightmare Moon. Sombra, the Tantabus, the Pony of Shadows. They did it all together. They all saved the world together. She's a hero. They're all heroes. Recognize them as such. They deserve it. They deserve your praise. At least, give them that much. Hero, sister, daughter, granddaughter, she's had it rough. Despite the loss of her parents at such a young age, she's still got a heart of gold, and a spirit of life that's always ready to save the world. Yes, indeed, she's always ready to save the world." A few minutes after the song comes to an end, the ponies break out in loud hollers and cheers. Rara blushes and thanks them before going to the next song, the always popular, "I'm Just a Pony".
Rara then smiles and begins to sing. As she does this song, Applejack comes up and accompanies her on the guitar. As she sings, Applejack begins to sing along. "I'm just a pony. I make mistakes from time to time. But now I know the real me and put my heart out on the line and let the magic in my heart stay true-u-u. And let the magic in my heart stay true-u-u, just like the magic inside of you. Just like the magic inside of you."
After two more songs, the concert comes to an end. As they leave, Flash Magnus won't stop talking. "Wow! That was just amazing! Her voice is absolutely beautiful! I see why you ponies enjoy concerts so much. They really are such a spectacle, such a sight to behold!"
"I'm glad you liked it," responds Flash Sentry with a smile. "There's a Songbird Serenade concert coming up in five weeks if you want to go see that with me as well."
"I'd love too," responds Flash Magnus with a smile. The two then continue to walk and talk until they get to the Ponyville Cafe where they sit down and enjoy lunch. As they eat lunch, the two continue to talk. Flash Sentry is glad Magnus had a great time and can't wait to do it again with him in five weeks time.
