The Mirror, an innocent inanimate object with a sinister curse, will turn the fate of Equestria into darkness
The Mirror, an inanimate object that allows one to see their true reflection. Many say that even the Mirror isn't as innocent as it seems. Breaking one would mean seven years bad luck and the deadly glass shards it produces when shattered. But what if the mirror has the power to spawn death itself? That's the case for this one particular Mirror. Possessed by a demon of the past, this cursed mirror has spawned the opposite side of one's reflection. The more good in one's heart, the reflected version becomes more deadly and evil. Twilight Sparkle didn't think much of this mirror at first, but now she wishes she'd listen to the warning the sales pony at the yard sale had given her.
Twilight Sparkle walked down the rows of tables examining each and every one of the items. Today was the annual yard sale held in ponyville's plaza and Twilight was hoping to find something worth buying. Looking around she noticed that this side of the yard sale had nothing but old hats and fake plants.
"Hey Twilight there are some cool antiques over here!" Fluttershy called over. Antiques? Hmm maybe she would find a new clock or something to hang up in her castle. She walked over to where Fluttershy was and looked over to see a bunch of old clocks and chairs. "Well do you see anything you like?" asked Fluttershy.
"Not really," answered Twilight. That's when something shiny caught her eye. She looked over to find a small Mirror with a golden frame lying on a wooden chair. She walked over and picked it up holding it up.
"A Mirror?" asked Fluttershy walking over.
"Isn't it beautiful especially with the golden frame," said Twilight.
"Yeah but why is it covered with black tape?" asked Fluttershy.
"I don't know but I'm taking this," said Twilight walking over to the cashier with the Mirror. She slid the mirror in front of the cashier and began digging through her bag for bits. The cashier took one look at the mirror and froze.
"Ma'am," said the cashier.
"Hold on I'm getting my bits," said Twilight digging through her bag.
"Ma'am," the cashier called out. Twilight looked up to see a worried look on the cashier's face. "Are you SURE you want to purchase this mirror?" he asked in a serious tone.
"Um yeah, why is it wrong for me to buy it?" asked Twilight.
"No it's just that... you know what on second thought you should probably just put it back," said the cashier nervously.
"Oh come on are you scared of the mirror?" joked Twilight.
"No you don't understand," said the cashier.
"Understand what? It's just a mirror," said Fluttershy.
"No you HAVE to listen, this mirror it's cursed," said the cashier.
"Oh please a cursed mirror?" laughed Twilight. "Come on I'll pay extra,"
The cashier let out a sigh of defeat,"I guess no matter how many times I try to persuade you it won't work," Twilight shook her head. "Alright but I'm warning you, don't look into the mirror or even try to show anypony this mirror,"
"Well then whats the point of owning it if I can't even look into it?" asked Twilight.
"I'm telling you not to look into it," said the cashier.
"Alright fine," groaned Twilight pulling out her wallet.
"No I don't need any bits, just take the stupid mirror," said the cashier.
"Ok thanks," said Twilight grabbing the mirror.
"What do you think he meant by cursed?" asked Fluttershy.
"I don't know but I'm taking off this stupid tape," said Twilight tearing off the tape. Once the tape was off she held it up and looked at her own reflection. Surprisingly the mirror looked to be in a fine condition for it to be sold at a yard sale. "Heh I actually look pretty good," said Twilight adjusting her mane.
"Well I gotta go, angel needs to be fed," said Fluttershy.
"Alright see you tomorrow," said Twilight.
"Yeah thanks for letting me hang out with you today," said Fluttershy.
"No problem," said Twilight. Twilight waved goodbye to her friend as she made her way to the library gazing at her own reflection the entire way. By the time she reached the library, the sun was already starting to set. "Spike I'm home!" said Twilight opening the door.
"Cool did you get anything?" Spike called out from inside the library.
"Sure did," said Twilight walking in. She slid the mirror into her bag wanting to surprise Spike with her new household item. Little did she know her reflection suddenly appeared on the mirror with a demonic smile and glowing blood red eyes. Later that night during dinner Twilight told Spike about the mirror and the cashier's strange behavior towards the mirror itself.
"So the mirror's cursed?" asked Spike.
"Unlikely there are no such thing as curses," said Twilight.
"Are you sure?" asked Spike nervously.
"Oh come on Spike do you seriously believe in those fairy tales?" asked Twilight.
"But Twilight what if he was right, what if this mirror IS cursed?" asked Spike.
"If it was cursed I'd be dead right now," said Twilight sarcastically.
"Twilight that's not funny," said Spike.
"Ok sorry," giggled Twilight.
"Geez you better keep that mirror away from me," groaned Spike crossing his arms.
"Alright just for you Spike," said Twilight kissing his cheek.
Spike's smile returned as he asked,"So are you planning to stay up and study again tonight?"
"No not this time, I'm too tired," yawned Twilight.
"Well then good night Twilight," said Spike.
"Yes good night Spike," said Twilight walking up to her room yawning. Twilight opened the door and placed the mirror onto her nightstand as she left to go brush her teeth, not noticing her reflection once again appeared smiling demonically, her eyes glowing in the red tint. While Twilight brushed her teeth she replayed the warning the cashier had sent her. "Don't look in the mirror? What a joke," she said to herself. She bent over the sink to spit out her toothpaste, but when she looked back up into the bathroom mirror, the eyes in her reflection had turned into empty sockets with black substance dripping down. Twilight screamed as she fell back. Twilight quickly scrambled to her hooves and looked back into the mirror to see that her reflection had returned to normal. "What in Equestria?" she mumbled.
"Twilight what's wrong?" asked Spike poking his head in.
"Oh nothing sorry for waking you," said Twilight.
"Nah it's cool," said Spike walking back to his bed. Twilight looked back into the mirror confused, "What was that?" she mumbled. Twilight just shook it off as a hallucination and decided to go to bed as soon as possible. She turned off the lights and made her way to her room, not noticing her reflection was now smiling demonically.
Luna's head flew back as her eyes widened. What was that she saw? She didn't know but the feeling that something was terribly wrong had only grown stronger. She didn't know what it was, but she couldn't shake the fact that Twilight might be in danger.
"I should talk to her as soon as possible," Luna mumbled. Whatever the problem could be it was no joke that something sinister was lurking somewhere in ponyville. If she was to protect everypony there, she had to do it before whatever demonic entity could appear.
Twilight paced up and down while she waited for Princess Luna to arrive. It's been five days since she bought that wretched mirror at the yard sale and now she regretted it. Ever since the mirror entered her household, she had constantly seen her reflection change in the mirrors around her house. But none of them were as bad as the one she saw last night.
"Oh come on please hurry," mumbled Twilight.
"So NOW you believe that mirror is cursed?" asked Spike.
"Yes and I'm sorry I doubted you Spike," groaned Twilight. Suddenly the doorbell rang and Twilight ran to get it. She opened the door to find Princess Luna standing there.
"Hello Twilight Sparkle," said Luna.
"Princess Luna!" Twilight gave the alicorn a big hug close to tears.
"Twilight is something wrong?" Luna asked concerned.
"Luna I've made a terrible mistake and now I don't know how to fix it," sobbed Twilight.
"What is it what happened?" asked Luna concerned.
"I would tell you but I don't think you would believe me," Twilight sniffled.
"There's no need to hide anything, now tell me what's going on," Luna said calmly. Twilight let Luna in as she explained to her about the mirror she bought at the yard sale and how things had been going terribly wrong ever since it entered the library. Luna nodded,"So you believe this cursed mirror is tormenting you through different reflections," said Luna.
"Yes, so far all of them were bad, but none of them were as worse as last nights," said Twilight.
"What did you see in your reflection last night?" Luna asked.
"Well it all started when I was brushing me teeth as usual, I was rinsing out my mouth from the toothpaste and when I looked up I saw it," said Twilight.
"Saw what?" asked Luna.
"It was me but at the same time it wasn't, it had my face, body, and mane but instead it was black with red eyes and a really creepy smile," Twilight began to sob again. "I don't know what it was but it looked like it was holding a knife or something,"
"What happened next?" asked Luna.
"The bathroom door just slammed shut and I couldn't get out, then the lights began to flicker and a creepy laugh filled the bathroom," At this point Twilight covered her face with her hooves and continued to sob,"The next thing I know the mirror was covered with bloody hoof prints, and the sink and tub was filled with more blood," "But the worst thing out of all that was the message on the mirror written in blood,"
"What did it say?" asked Luna.
Twilight sniffled as she tried to collect her composure,"You Owe Me your Soul," The entire room went silent just as Twilight recited the message. Even Luna seemed to be freaked out by what Twilight said.
"You Owe Me your Soul," Luna repeated.
"Luna I'm scared I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight without having that one image in my head haunt me," Twilight sobbed.
"Don't worry Twilight," said Luna stroking her mane.
"What do I do?" asked Twilight.
"I don't know but no matter what happens, I'll make sure that nopony tries to hurt you," said Luna hugging Twilight.
"So what now?" asked Spike walking up to Luna.
"I have to tell my sister about what's going on," said Luna. "In the meantime I suggest you stay away from all mirrors,"
"What about Twilight," asked Spike.
"I'm planning to take her back to the castle, see if that changes anything," answered Luna.
"Then I'm coming too," said Spike. Luna shook her head in disagreement.
"It's too risky I'll need you to stay over at somepony's while I help Twilight deal with this mirror situation," Spike, feeling defeated, wanted to argue but he knew that Luna was only doing this to protect him.
"Alright," said Spike.
"Let's go Twilight," said Luna walking out of the library with Twilight by her side. Spike quickly ran upstairs to prepare to head over to the dragon lands.
Luna had the guards at the castle arrange a room without mirrors for Twilight when they arrived.
"You should be fine here," said Luna showing Twilight her room.
"Thanks Luna I really appreciate it," said Twilight.
"I'll call you for dinner, in the meantime try to get some rest while you can alright?" said Luna.
"Yeah I'll be sure to do that," said Twilight. Luna nodded as she closed the door to let Twilight have some time to herself. Twilight walked over and jumped on the bed placing a hoof over her eyes.
"What Twilight?" asked Celestia.
"Yeah recently she's been having troubles with mirrors apparently," answered Luna.
"What kind of troubles?" asked Celestia concerned.
"Something having to do with a cursed mirror or something," said Luna.
"A Cursed Mirror?" asked Celestia. Luna explained the whole story to her sister and the reason why Twilight was in the castle.
"I see, and you're planning to keep Twilight here until this whole thing blows off?" asked Celestia.
"Yeah, and I plan to keep Twilight from coming into close contact with any mirrors," answered Luna.
"But what about Spike?" asked Celestia.
"I told him to stay at somepony's house while he waits for this whole thing to pass by," answered Luna. Celestia nodded and scratched her chine with her hoof. If what Luna is saying is true then they needed to find out who was after Twilight and why.
"Alright, but I won't let you do this on your own dear sister," said Celestia.
"Celestia please you must understand, whoever is after Twilight will most likely strike at night or in the dark at the very least," said Luna.
"Even so you can't do this alone, you'll be better off protecting Twilight with my help," said Celestia.
"Celestia," Luna mumbled looking a little upset.
"Please Luna let me help, I'm worried about Twilight too," said Celestia.
Luna stayed silent for a while before answering,"Alright but I hate to say that you probably won't be able to do much for her,"
"Wait so that mirror really IS cursed?" Fluttershy asked surprised.
"Yeah Twilight says she's been seeing creepy versions of herself appear on the mirrors around the library ever since she brought that mirror in," answered Spike.
"Wait what's this about a cursed mirror?" asked Starlight.
"Recently Twilight bought a mirror at the yard sale that was going on and the cashier warned us about that mirror being cursed," answered Fluttershy.
"Heh a cursed mirror, sounds creepy," smirked Rainbow Dash.
"I'm not kidding it got so bad that she even had Princess Luna come in and talk to her," said Spike.
"Poor sugarcube ah wish there was something we could do to help her," said Applejack.
"Well Luna told us to stay away from that mirror," said Spike.
"Yeah ok," snickered Rainbow as she started in the direction towards the library.
"Rainbow what are you doing?" asked Starlight.
"Oh come on we can't help Twilight if we don't see this mirror for ourselves," groaned Rainbow Dash.
"Ooh good idea dashie," laughed Pinkie Pie.
"Um Rainbow if Luna told us to stay away from it, then maybe we should listen to her," suggested Fluttershy.
"Oh quit being such a baby," said Rainbow.
"She's right Rainbow if it really IS cursed then we shouldn't be messing with it," said Starlight.
"Oh come on, you're all too cautious," said Rainbow flying off towards the library.
"Sweet Celestia, Luna's not going to like this," said Rarity face hoofing herself.
"Got it," said Rainbow appearing next to Fluttershy causing her to yelp.
"Rainbow why did you-,"
"What come it can't be THAT bad Spike," said Rainbow interrupting Spike.
"It IS that bad," spat Spike crossing his arms. Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes as she held up the mirror in front of her. The Golden Frame shining brightly in the sunlight.
"Wow I actually look pretty cool," said Rainbow adjusting her mane.
"That Frame is so pretty," said Rarity.
Rainbow Dash continued to make funny faces as Pinkie Pie joined in bot of them staring at themselves in the mirror. She flipped the mirror on it's back and back onto it's surface and tossed it aside. "See nothing it's just a plain old mirror," Spike or any of the mane 7 didn't notice Rainbow and Pinkie's reflection smiling demonically with glowing red eyes.
"At least the frame is pretty," said Rarity.
"Come on Rarity is that ALL you care about?' asked Applejack.
Suddenly a voice similar to those of Rainbow Dash spoke up," Yeah because she's a selfish brat," Everypony, even Rarity looked at Rainbow Dash shocked.
"What that wasn't me," said Rainbow Dash.
"Yeah it totally was you," a voice similar to Pinkie's replied. Rainbow dash glared at Pinkie.
"I didn't say that," said Pinkie.
"Yeah you did you annoying idiot," said the Rainbow voice.
"RAINBOW!" Starlight hissed.
"That wasn't me," said Rainbow.
"Rainbow that wasn't very nice," said Fluttershy.
"Shut up you chicken," laughed the Pinkie voice.
"Pinkie," Starlight said seriously.
"That wasn't me," pouted Pinkie.
"Hey it was YOUR voice," laughed the Rainbow voice.
"Rainbow's right," said Applejack.
"I didn't say that," pouted Rainbow.
"What's gotten into you two today?" asked Spike.
"NOTHING!!!!" both Pinkie and Rainbow screamed in unison.
"What a bunch of idiots," laughed the Rainbow voice. Everypony glared at Rainbow not amused by her sense of humor.
"I swear I'm not saying that," said Rainbow dash holding up her hooves.
"Then who is it, that's YOUR voice obviously," said Starlight.
"It's us," laughed the Pinkie voice.
"See even Pinkie agrees," said Fluttershy.
"I didn't say that," said Pinkie.
"You think you're so-" But Applejack's statement was cut off when something flashed behind Rainbow and Pinkie. The eight looked over to see the mirror glowing in a black aura as two ponies EXACTLY similar to Rainbow and Pinkie crawled out, their demonic smiles and red eyes glowing,"
"What the hay!?" yelped Rarity.
"Wow full of happiness and nature, how disgusting," said the evil Rainbow squishing a flower.
"Is that another me?" asked Rainbow dash.
Both the evil Pinkie and Rainbow smirked at the seven,"We are the beings from the other side of this mirror," answered evil Rainbow.
"A world where death, destruction, and darkness strives," added evil Pinkie.
"We have come here as angels of death," said evil Rainbow.
"We want to thank you for freeing us from that wretched mirror," smirked evil Pinkie.
"Freeing you, how?" asked Pinkie.
The two sneered,"You never listen your friends do you, don't you see they warned you," Starlight glared at Rainbow dash.
"What?" asked Rainbow.
"Oh and another thing," said evil Pinkie picking up the mirror. The group looked over as the mirror began to glow in a black aura and creature resembling Twilight crawled out. Everypony gasped. The evil Twilight smiled demonically showing off it's razor sharp fangs and opened it's blood red eyes.
"Finally free," said evil Twilight.
"See what did I tell you?" asked Spike.
"Twilight was a fool Spike," said evil Twilight.
"And that's why we need her," laughed evil Rainbow. Evil Twilight turned around and flew off.
"Oh no Luna isn't going to like this," said Spike.
"And neither is Twilight's friends," spat evil Pinkie.
"What do y'all mean?" asked Applejack. Suddenly the evil clones grabbed Pinkie and Rainbow and began dragging them into the mirror.
"Wait what are you doing!?" Rainbow yelped.
"We're taking you with us!" cackled evil Pinkie as the two pulled them in.
"PINKIE, RAINBOW!" Starlight screamed running over to the mirror. Starlight picked up the mirror and held it up. "GIVE US BACK OUR FRIENDS YOU MONSTERS!" Suddenly Starlight's reflection changed from anger to a devilish smirk as it leaped out screaming tackling Starlight into a tree before she could react.
"Starlight!" Fluttershy yelped. Starlight tried to get up, but her evil reflection used her magic to give the tree the ability to move. Just as she was halfway up several vines fell down and wrapped themselves around Starlight and picked her up. Starlight screamed and struggled to break free but her evil reflection grabbed her with her magic.
"See ya," she said winking as she dragged Starlight into the mirror.
"Starlight!" Rarity and Applejack screamed.
"No, no, no I can't do this!" squeaked Fluttershy covering her face with her hooves.
"What do we do?" asked Spike. Just as he asked the mirror began to glow again.
"What now?" asked Rarity. Suddenly a creature resembling Spike popped out and hissed at the four devilishly.
"SPIKE!?" screamed Applejack.
"Oh right I forgot I looked into that mirror when I was getting ready for my date with Rarity," said Spike. But before either of them could respond the evil Spike grabbed Spike by the tail and dragged him in.
"NO SPIKE!" Rarity screamed.
"NO!!!!!!!" Fluttershy sobbed.
"What do we do?" asked Applejack.
"We have to get help," said Rarity.
"Luna!" Applejack suggested.
"Good idea let's go," said Rarity grabbing the mirror.
"Come on," said Applejack running off with Rarity following behind.
"Wait for me!" yelped Fluttershy chasing after them.
