"I'm so bored!" Sonata groaned as she lay on the couch just staring at the ceiling. She was home alone tonight while Adagio and Aria were out working. "There's gotta be something to do." She looked around the house but found nothing that could distract her from boredom. There was nothing good on TV, Aria's gaming system was in maintenance mode, and she already read all the magazines they had. "Welp, that's it then," she laid back down on the couch with her face down on the couch, "I'm going to die of boredom."

Right after she said that a strange noise was heard and it caught her attention. "What was that?" She stayed quiet for a moment to see if she wasn't hearing things out of boredom. But she wasn't as the noise was heard again and it sounds like it came from outside. Curiosity got the best of her as she grabbed a flashlight and went outside to find the source. She shined the light side to side to find whatever it was making that noise. "Hello?" she called out to see if she'll get a response. Nothing happened, so she called again, a bit louder this time, "Hello?" Then the bushes started to rustle, startling Sonata. "H-Hello?" she said again more quiet and scared. Another sound was then heard and this time it sounded like...whimpering? She walked up to the bushes slowly and got on her knees to look under them.

She shined her light and what she saw was, "A dog?" Yes, there was a dog under the bushes in front of the house. Sonata reached out to him, but he reeled back in fear. "Oh no no no, I'm not gonna hurt you. Come on out." She reached out again, slowly this time and started petting his head to try to convince it that she won't hurt him. The dog was hesitant, but eventually, he crawled out from under the bushes. By the looks of it, the dog to be between its adolescent and adult stage and it was dirty and starving. "Oh you poor thing, where did you come from?" she asked, but she knew she wouldn't get an answer because he's dog and she doesn't speak dog. "You must be hungry," she said noting that his ribs were a bit visible. She thought about of it then got an idea, though she knew that a couple of certain sirens are not gonna like it. "Come on, there might be something that you'll like." Sonata stood back up and walked to the house, but she noticed that the dog didn't follow, he just sat there. She gave him a genuine smile, "Come on, what are you waiting for?" Again the dog was hesitant, but he complied and followed her.

They both entered the house and Sonata went over to the fridge to find something for her furry guest. "Now let's see," she said as she opened the fridge, "What do dog's like to eat?" She looked around to find a suitable food for him, "I'm guessing maybe some meat?" She found some leftover chicken from last night and put it in the microwave to warm up. After it was done, Sonata took it out and went back over to the dog who was waiting patiently for his food. She set the chicken down in front of him and waited to see if he'll eat it. He started to sniff the chicken to see if the chicken was safe to eat. Once he determined it was safe, he started eating the meat of the bones. Sonata was a bit relieved that she didn't give him anything bad for dogs. A few minutes later, the dog was done, she picked up what the remains of the chicken and threw them away. He seems a bit happy and satisfied now that he had eaten. "Ok, now that you have eaten I think you need a bath." She led him to the bathroom as he happily followed.

Once inside the bathroom Sonata started filling up the tub with warm water. "Give it a moment to fill up, ok?" She told the dog as he sat there patiently. It took a bit of time but soon the tub was full enough and Sonata turned off the faucet, "Ok jump in." He didn't need to be told twice as he went right in with a little splash. "Wow, you must be really happy to get a bath," she then noticed that the water had turned brownish, "and you are dirtier than I thought." She started splashing some water on top of him to get him completely. Once he was all wet, she grabbed some shampoo and pour some on him, then started scrubbing him down. She had to use normal shampoo since they didn't have any dog shampoo, for obvious reasons. Hopefully, her sisters won't notice. As Sonata was scrubbing him, the dog started to shake, flicking soapy water onto her. "Hey!" Sonata cried playfully as she tried to shield herself. After that, she finished scrubbing him and rinsed him to get the suds off. "Ok, all done. You can come out now." The dog complied and jumped out while Sonata drained the water. She then grabbed a towel and dry him off. "There all clean now." He was quite happy and showed his appreciation by licking her face. "That tickles!" Sonata giggled. She looked at the tub and saw how dirty it was after that bath. "I better clean the tub before they get back. Can't leave any trace." She quickly gathered some cleaning equipment and cleaned up the mud and dog hair. It took a little effort, but it had to be done. "There, good as new." She said proudly at her work. But she couldn't admire it for long, cause she heard a car pulling up from outside.

"Uh oh! Their back!" She panicked. The dog just looked at her with confusing. "I can't let them see you, come on!" she led him to her room and let him in."Stay here and stay quite ok," she didn't give him a chance respond as closed the door leaving him alone in the room. Sonata rushed back to the bathroom and put up the cleaning equipment, then went to the living room and sat on the couch while pretending read an old magazine. Just in time for just Adagio to come through the front door. "Hi Adagio, where's Aria?"

"Hello Sonata," Adagio greeted back, "she had to work late tonight, so she'll be home after midnight." She set some bags on the kitchen table. "Anyways I brought you some Taco bell."

Sonata got excited when she heard that, "Thanks, Adagio!" She went over to the table to enjoy her taco.

"So Sonata were there anything interesting to you busy while me and Aria were gone?"

Sonata got a little nervous, "Uh, nope, nothing at all, it was totally boring."

"Well, maybe next time I can find something to distract you while we're gone."

"No no that's fine," her nervousness increases, "I'm getting quite used to the boredom.

Adagio started to notice her nervousness, "Sonata, are you ok?"

"Y-Yeah, sure, why wouldn't I be?"

She raised an eyebrow, "Well, it just feels like your hiding something?"

Sonta could have sworn she was now sweating due to her nervousness, "What makes you say that?"

And just like that, they both heard some whimpering and Sonata eyes went wide. "Sonata," Adagio looked at her with a stern look, "what was that?"

She swallowed a lump in her throat, "What was that?"

Another whimper was heard, "That."

"Uh, It's probably nothing," Sonata tried to play it off as she continued to eat her taco.

Not buying what she said, Adagio exited the kitchen and went down the hall towards Sonata's room cause she knows that would be the first place she would usually hide stuff. The blue siren tried to stop her but was too late as the leader was greeted by the dog. She was surprised for a moment turned to Sonata with a glare, "Sonata, why is there a dog in your room?"

Sonata was at this point beyond nervous, "He must have...jumped through my window?"

Adagio pinched the bridge of her nose, tired of hearing her terrible lies, "Sonata I told you: No animals in the house!"

"But Adagio," Sonata whined, "I couldn't just alone outside."

"Sonata, bringing in stray animals will bring us nothing but trouble, or did you forget about the cat you brought in before?"

"But this is a dog, they're totally different. Please!?"

"No. We are not keeping this dog and that's final."

Sonata started to tear up and went over to the dog and hugged him, "But we can't just leave out on the streets. You should have seen him when I found him. He was alone and scared, and he hasn't eaten days. We can't just let him continue living like that."

Adagio took a moment to think about what Sonata said. She supposes she is right. Though she isn't really fond of animals, even she wouldn't let them just let them live alone out the streets and fend for themselves. That would be cruel, even for her standard. But she still doesn't want want to deal with a dog living in her house. She sighed, "We're not gonna make him live on the streets. We'll take him to the Animal rescue shelter. He can stay here for tonight, but that's it. Okay?"

Sonata looked up at Adagio and then back to the dog. Tears were currently streaming down her face. She didn't to say goodbye to him after they just met, but it can't be helped. At least he'll be somewhere better than the streets. "Okay." She lets go of him as Adagio went to her own room and went back to the kitchen to finish her taco, though it now had a bit of a sour taste to them now. After that, she came back and changed her pajamas then went to bed. As Sonata laid in her bed, she started sobbing silently. Then she felt another presence jumped on her bed. Once she rolled around she saw that it was the dog laying next to her. He sensed that she was upset and was trying to cheer her up. Sonata gave a sad smile and pet his head a little. "Well, it was fun while it lasted," She sighed sadly, "I just wish we could spend more time together." She the drifted to sleep with the dog not far behind, “Goodnight, Allen.”

A furry dream

Sonata groaned as she slowly woke up from her sleep. She stretched and yawned then wiped her her eyes and let them readjust to their natural focus. Once she was somewhat awake, the first thing that she noticed was that her little companion wasn’t with her. “Allen?” she looked around her room to see if he was nearby, but he was nowhere to be seen. “Al?” Sonata got out of her bed and exited her room to look for Allen. She checked the living room, kitchen, and the bathroom, but steered clear of Adagio’s and Aria’s room because she wasn’t allowed there. However, another thing that she noticed was that she noticed, was that Adagio and Aria (or at least Adagio sometimes) are not up before she is. Usually, by the time Sonata wakes up breakfast would be ready.

"Did they already took Allen to the shelter?" Tears started to form in her eyes, "Without out me saying goodbye at least?" Before the tears could stream down her face, a muffled noise was heard inside the house, and almost sounds like a bark. "Allen?" Another bark. She wiped away her tears and followed it and as she got closer to the source she started to feel a little relieved that they didn't take him to the shelter yet. Another bark and it led Sonata straight to Adagio, but what she didn’t notice was that the bark was a higher pitch. “Why is he in there? I’m sure that Adagio wouldn’t allow him in there.” She knew she wasn’t allowed in there, but if Allen is in there and Adagio was still asleep, then she’ll need to go in and get him out before she wakes up and see him in her room or else she’ll be really mad.

Sonata opened the door slightly enough to poke her head through. “Allen,” she said quietly as she looked around Adagio’s room, “Allen, where are you?” Once more, a bark was heard. She looked down and what she saw was...well...it was a dog but it wasn’t Allen. In fact, it was a little puppy that looked too familiar. It had a yellow coat of fur and the eyes were a brilliant raspberry color. But what really tipped her off was the mass of orange curly hair with yellow streaks and a familiar spiked headband on its head. “A...Adagio?” Sonata said stunned at what she is looking at as she opened the door entirely. Adagio barked in response and up to her and jumped on her leg. “Oh, my Celestia. You’re...so...CUTE!” She picked Adagio up and brought her to her face, then nuzzle their noses together, “I don’t know how this happened, but I don’t care right! You’re just so cute!” Adagio wagged her tail at the attention she was getting but then, Sonata came to a realization. “I gotta tell Aria about this!”

She set Adagio down and rushed over to Aria’s room then opened the door wide open. Sonata didn’t care if Aria was still sleeping, she has to know. “Aria! Aria! You’ll never believe what...” She hesitated to finish her sentence as she noticed something laying on Aria’s bed, “happened?” She got closer to the bed to get a closer look at it. By the looks of it, its seems like a large patch of purple fur. But she also noticed some small movement, like it was breathing. Sonata reached out to it and gave it a little poke. The patch of fur squirmed a bit before it uncurled revealed that it was another puppy, but this one was different from Adagio. It yawned and stretched before it gave Sonata an annoyed glare. This puppy was about the same size of Adagio, however, as it was stated before, it has a coat of purple fur and its eyes were a moderate mulberry. What's really unusual about this puppy was that it had some familiar dark purple hair with turquoise streaks and twin pigtails that's being held by silver star hairclips. “Aria? You too?” Sonata tried to pick her up, but Aria growled making reel back. “Yep, that’s Aria alright.” Aria jumped off the bed and walked out her room leaving Sonata more confused than before. “How is this even happening?” She didn’t think about it much as she felt her stomach growl reminding her that she haven’t had breakfast yet. “Well, I can’t think on an empty stomach.”

Sonata left Aria’s room and went to the kitchen. Since Adagio won’t be able to cook, she’ll just gonna just have some cereal. She opened the cabinet and grabbed a box of cereal, but then she felt something on her leg nd heard some whimpering. Looking down, she saw Adagio on her leg and looking out her with a sad look. “Oh, are you hungry too?” Adagio barked in response to her question. “Ok, let me find something for you to eat.” Sonata looked through the cabinets to something to give Adagio. She then noticed that in one of the cabinets, was a box of dog food? “When did we get this?” She shrugged it off, at least she has something to feed Adagio. Sonata grabbed the box and a bowl poured then poured some in. She then set it in front of Adagio along with some water. Adagio wagged her tail in gratitude and started eating.

Sonata looked over to the side and saw that Aria was away from them with her back towards them, sulking. She thought about it for a sec then poured another bowl of dog food and went over to her then set it next to her. Aria looked at the bowl for a second then look the other way. “What? You’re not hungry?” she reached toward her and gave a little pet, but Aria responded with a bark then looked at her with a glare and growled. However, she was interrupted by her own stomach give a growl and she looked away in embarrassment. “So you are hungry.” Sonata went back to petting her. Aria growled again to get her to stop, but it had no effect this time. “Come on Aria, you gotta eat too you know.” Aria was hesitant for a moment, but gave in and starting eating. Satisfied to see her eating, Sonata went back making her own breakfast.

Later after they all have eaten, Sonata was sitting on the couch with Adagio on her lap. She scratched behind her ear and pet her back while Adagio just laid there and enjoyed her little treatment. “You really do enjoy getting attention.” Sonata didn’t mind, she just really enjoys feeling her fur. It’s so soft and warm. In the background, Aria was watching as Sonata pet Adagio. As much as she didn’t want to be pet, she could help but feel a little jealous that she wasn’t getting as much attention as Adagio was. So she went over to them and jumped up on the couch. Sonata stopped petting Adagio and looked at Aria, “What’s wrong?” Aria ignored her question and growled at Adagio. She just rolled her eyes and got off of Sonata lap and let Aria take her place. It took Sonata a sec to realize what Aria wanted, “Aw, Did you want some attention too?” Aria didn’ respond but she didn’t need too, she just started petting her back. She growled to make it look like she wasn’t enjoying it, but Sonata wasn’t buying it. “I may not know how this is happening, maybe I’ll ask sunset and her friend for help. But right now I just want to enjoy this moment. You two are just so cute!”

“They are, aren’t they?” a mysterious voice said. Sonata looked around to find where that voice came from.

“Who said that?” Then from around the corner, came in Allen. “Allen, there you are!” She set Aria aside and went over to Allen to give him a hug. “I was looking for you, where have you been?”

“I was under your bed because I thought I saw a ball,” Allen said and it shocked Sonata to hear Allen talking.

“Wait, you can talk!?”

“Of course I can, you didn’t notice?”

“No, but this is amazing!” Sonata beamed with excitement, “I don’t think I ever want this day to end.” Then Allen jumped on her a started licking her face. “Hey, that tickles!” she giggled. Adagio and Aria then joined in and started licking her as well. “Come on, cut it out!” But they didn’t listen and kept t it.

“Cut it out,” Sonata murmured in her sleep as Allen kept licking her face trying to wake her up. She then slowly woke up and the first thing she saw was Allen’s snout in her face. She sat up and noticed that she was back in her room on her bed. “Huh?” she looked around confused about how she got back here so fast. She then looked at Allen, “Allen, speak.” But instead of words, Allen just barked like a normal dog. ‘Was I just dreaming?’ she thought. Just then, Adagio entered her room, the real, normal Adagio.

“Sonata, Breakfast is about ready,” Adagio said before she went back to the kitchen.

Sonata was then disappointed now that she have confirmed that it was all just a dream and even more disappointed that they were still gonna take Allen to the shelter. She looked over to Allen and gave him a pet, “If only they would at least give you a chance.” She said sadly, then got out of bed and got dress. Might as well get the day over with.
