After years of living in Ponyville General Obsidian Blaze receives a vision leading him to the Everfree Forest, and to begining Equestria's new line of defence, the New Equestian Reserves.
"That guy is wired." a blue unicorn mare whispered to another, as a dark grey unicorn stallion with a red mane and tail passed by.
"I know, but he's kinda cute." the other mare whispered back.
'I can hear ya'll ya know.' Obsidian Blaze thought heading towards a small two story building with a stone forge out front. Unlocking the door with a spell he walked inside setting down his saddle bags, embroidered with a flaming hammer and a small red gem sown to it. "Thank you Ms. Rarity for the bag." Blaze continued lifting groceries out.
"Hey you in here?" asked a cyan Pegasus poking her head in the door.
"Dash, would the door be unlocked if I weren't?" Obsidian Blaze replied sarcastically. Laughing Rainbow Dash walked into the kitchen eyeing the food.
"Thought changelings didn't need food." Rainbow Dash remarked grabbing a bundle of apples and placing them into a large wooden bowl.
"Not for basic survival, but it helps strengthen us. Also it's mostly for if I have guest." Obsidian Blaze replied. "Hey by the way, found a place we can go tonight for our date." he continued placing various foods into a woven basket. "And before you ask, it's a surprise." Blaze stated with a slight sternness.
"Oh, what's so special?" Rainbow Dash asked, slinking towards the stallion. With a flash of red flame Obsidian Blaze stared back before rolling his eyes. "Ya know I don't know witch form I like better, the pony or the changeling." Rainbow Dash stated.
"I'll pick you up tonight at 17:00." Obsidian Blaze stated, ignoring the question. Flying around the town Obsidian Blaze doged from house to house, avoiding the Ponyville streets. Flying higher he came to the cloud home of Rainbow Dash. Knocking on the door Obsidian Blaze shuffled nervously. 'You've been dating her for two years now, and ya still get nervous.' he chastised himself as he saw the door crack open.
"Oh hey you're early." Rainbow Dash stated with widened eyes.
"Ready Dash?" Obsidian Blaze asked offering his hoof. Nodding Rainbow Dash taking his hoof. Flying together the pair came to a small hill, with a red and white checkered blanket and picnic basket.
"What's that smell?" Rainbow Dash asked, closing her eye as a sweet fragrance assaulted her nostrils.
"Hey, just because I don't have to eat doesn't mean I can't cook. Also Ms. Pie has been teaching me some recipes." Obsidian Blaze responded, rubbing the back of his head.
"You know you just call her Pinkie." Rainbow Dash stated landing opposite from her date. Talking to each other the tow giggled and laughed. Suddenly a loud howl pierce the air. "What was that?" Rainbow Dash asked, looking around.
"Don't know, but it sounded big." Obsidian Blaze responded. A few moments later a large wooden beast stepped out of the trees. "Timberwolf!" Obsidian Blaze exclaimed, teleporting the two out of the way. Tugging Rainbow Dash tried to pull Obsidian Blaze towards town. "No, if it isn't stopped here it will pursue us, and many lives could be lost." Obsidian Blaze stated, standing firm.
"Be careful." Rainbow Dash whispered, a tears forming in her eyes. Nodding Obsidian Blaze looked down towards the wolf, and screamed in pure rage as he dived at it with a red ball, mimicking fire, formed around him.The ball of arcane energy exploded as the two collided, smashing the Timberwolf against a nearby bolder. Howling in pain the Timberwolf stumbled to it's feet. "This is where you, DIE!" Obsidian Blaze shouted in a unfamiliar tone. With a blast of magic, another scream of rage escaped him. Charging the beast Obsidian Blaze was knocked into a bolder beside the Timberwolf, shattering his jagged horn. Dazed, Obsidian Blaze stumbled to his hooves. Weakly looking up he saw a magenta beam of magic impact the wolf.
"Are you alright?" Twilight Sparkle asked looking down at the wounded changeling. "Dash get help!" she yelled, as her voice cracked in fear.
"Yes your highness, he'll be fine." came a soft, motherly voice. "but he will need to stay here for a few weeks at most." the voice continued. Groaning Obsidan Blaze shifted.
"Nurse Red Heart!" Twilight Sparkle exclaimed pointing a hoof at the bed.
"Stay still now, you're safe." Red Heart assured Obsidian Blaze as he laid upon the bed. "Now i'll be stright to the point. Last night during your fight the Timberwolf bashed you up against a bolder, shattering your horn." Red Heart explianed calmly. "You'll be unable to cast magic for a while, and will need to stay here for a few weeks at most." she continued.
"Dash alright?" Obsidian Blaze asked softly.
"Yes she's alright, just a few scrapes and bruises from something that day." Red Heart explained. Nodding Obsidian Blaze rested his head and went to sleep. Waking Obsidian Blaze looked to his left to see a quivering patient.
"Calm down, even if I wanted to hurt you i'm in no condition to do so." Obsidian Blaze stated.
"Oh, you're awake." Red Heart gasped opening the door.
"Yea, i'm up." Obsidian Blaze stated, moving into a sitting position.
"Here let me take a look at that." Red Heart ordered softly, moving over to his side. "Hm, you seem to be recovering quite quickly." she continued. "Well let me get the doctor, he'll determine if you can leave or not." Red Heart stated leaving the room.
"Well he does seem to quite well, very well he can leave." the doctor stated looking at a clipboard. Nodding Obsidian Blaze got to his hooves and stumbled. Using his wings Obsidian Blaze steadied himself.
"Thanks doc." Obsidian Blaze stated leaving the room. "I'll get your payment." he continued.
"No need, Princess Twilight Sparkle has covered all expenses." the doctor explained. Rolling his eyes and mumbling Obsidian Blaze left the hospital for home.
Well he's very reserved, looking straight at a changeling. Obsidian Blaze thought leaving the hospital. Walking towards town Obsidian Blaze came to a abrupt stop, seeming to be starring at nothing. A vision of a ruin surrounded by thick trees came to him.
"Hey you alright?" Rainbow Dash asked, knocking Obsidian Blaze back to reality.
"Yea, yea i'm fine." Obsidian Blaze stated softly. "Let's go to Twilight's, I need to ask her about something." he continued.
"But that means..." Rainbow Dash started before groaning as the changeling moved on.
"Exposing myself, I know." Obsidian Blaze finished, turning onto Ponyville's main road. Taking a deep breath he pressed forward.
"Changeling!" yelled a small yellow earth pony in a country accent, before running away. As the other townsfolk looked in the direction they gasped as they saw Obsidian Blaze walking though. As he passed ponies locked themselves in buildings. Upon reaching the Castle of Friendship Obsidian Blaze knocked on the doors before him, only to be greeted with silence.
"Odd." Obsidian Blaze stated under his breath. Opening the doors he proceeded to the castle library. Walking into the library Obsidian Blaze noticed a passed out Twilight Sparkle on the floor, covered in books. 'I'll just come back later.' he thought closing the door. Walking to the castle doors Obsidian Blaze heard what sounded to be an angry mob. "Your highness, I require some assistance!" Obsidian Blaze yelled over his shoulder.
"What's going on?" Twilight Sparkle yawned looking around the corner.
"Well there's a mob outside, I believe it's about me." Obsidian Blaze explained. It took Twilight's brain a bit to process this, but once it had her eyes shot open.
"Oh no." she gasped bolting for the door, and opening it.
"Get that thing outta here!" screamed a stallion.
"How do we know you're not the changeling!" cried out another.
"Because i'm right here!" Obsidian Blaze yelled calmly, walking outside.
"He's not here to hurt us!" Twilight yelled out to the crowd. After a long three hours of arguments the last of the townsfolk whent home.
"Your highness thank you, but I have a quick question before I depart." Obsidian Blaze stated, bowing his head slightly.
"Ok, what's the question?" Twilight asked.
"In all of your explorations of the Everfree Forest, have you ever seen an underground ruin." Obsidian Blaze asked softly.
"Besides the castle, no I haven't." Twilight replied shaking her head, before apologizing.
"Thank you." Obsidian Blaze stated before leaving.
Keeping a brisk pace Obsidian Blaze headed for Fluttershy's cottage, with a small bag in hoof. Reaching the cottage Obsidian Blaze looked to his left eyeing the dark forest before him. Taking a deep breath he continued and turned towards the forest. ' Stay safe Dash.' he thought as the darkness consumed him. Walking though the forest he noticed a few deep growls. 'Timberwolves.' he thought to himself. Keeping the same calm pace, Obsidian Blaze prepared to bolt or fly up if necessary.
"Why hello friend, what brings you to my humble sted?" asked a zebra as Obsidian Blaze came upon a clearing.
"I'm looking for an underground ruin Ms. Zecora, do you know of one" Obsidian Blaze asked.
"I noticed a strange light, it gave me quite a fright." Zecora replied, pointing her hoof off into the trees. Nodding Obsidian Blaze thanked the zebra. Moving in the direction Zecora had pointed in Obsidian Blaze started to notice a deep glow in the forest, where no other light penetrated. "Hm, that's odd." Obsidian Blaze stated before something zoomed past him. Groaning rainbow Dash shakily got to her hooves. "Dash!" he yelled sprinting to the cyan mare.
"Found ya." Rainbow Dash stated chuckling.
"I left a letter specifically stating to not follow!" Obsidian Blaze shouted in such fury that startled Rainbow Dash.
"Yea, I don't listen that well." Rainbow Dash stated checking her wings. "Well, what's that?" she asked looking at the glow. Growling Obsidian Blaze simply trotted into the glowing cave. "So where'd you see this ruin?" Rainbow Dash asked following the changeling deeper into the cave.
"Saw it in a dream." Obsidian Blaze stated. "Stay close, something feels off here." he continued.
"Analyzing subjects." spoke a strange voice that seemed to come from nowhere. "Subject One, half breed changeling, Subject One access granted." the voice continued.
"What the hay is that?" Rainbow Dash asked looking around.
"Subject Two, unknown species, confirmation required." the voice continued causing Rainbow Dash to fly straight up.
"Ow!" she yelped in pain rubbing her head.
"I don't know what you are but she's with me." Obsidian Blaze stated in a dry tone, looking for the source of the voice.
"Affirmative, Subject Two access granted." the voice spoke up as a door opened up, flooding the room in light.
"I guess we go in." Obsidian Blaze stated moving though the door.
"What do you think this place is?" Rainbow Dash asked, looking at the dark grey walls.
"Possibly a changeling hive based on the architecture, but the technology debunks that idea." Obsidian Blaze responded.
"This way." the voice commanded in i's emotionless tone as a green orb appeared and slowly moved away. Following the orb Obsidian Blaze and Rainbow Dash entered a room filled with items similar to the medical equipment in the Ponyville Hospital. "Blood samples required for identification." the voice stated.
"Hey!" Rainbow Dash yelled a a needle attached to a robotic arm pierced her and drew blood.
"Subject Two DNA indicates unknown species." the voice rang out.
"Identify yourself immediately!" Obsidian Blaze commanded, grunting as a needle pierced a crack in his hide.
"Subject One DNA indicates mixed pure blood." the voice stated, ignoring Obsidian Blaze's command. "This way." it continued. Once again the orb appeared floating past them.
"I think we should get Twilight." Rainbow Dash whispered walking next to Obsidian Blaze.
"As much as I agree i'd rather not anger this thing, if it can be angered." Obsidian Blaze whispered back. After a few moments a door opened to a large room covered in large screens.
"Awaiting unit designation." the voice stated forming into a changeling like figure.
"What was your former unit designation?" Obsidian Blaze asked, earning a confused stare form his companion.
"This unit was commonly refereed to as project Starbane." the voice answered.
"Then your unit designation is Starbane." Obsidian Blaze replied.
"Affirmative." Starbane stated. "System analysis indicates the primary arcane reactor is offline." Starbane continued. "Arcane charge is required to restart." Starbane finished.
"Alright lead the way." Obsidian Blaze said as the changeling image walked out of the room. Entering another large room Obsidian Blaze whistled.
"This is the arcane reactor, centralize your magic on the disc to begin charging." Starbane stated.
"Problem, I don't have a horn to use magic." Obsidian Blaze stated lowering his head.
"Changelings developed horns to employ the use of directed energy spells." Starbane explained. "Though your arcane power is diminished, I can initiate the full extent of your DNA." Starbane continued.
"What will that do?" Obsidian Blaze asked, cocking his head slightly.
"The full extent of your DNA will cause your horn to recede, but will give you full access to indirect energy spells and personalized spells." Starbane explained.
"Hold on, what's all this magic talk?" Rainbow Dash asked, nearly screaming.
"Sorry I forgot you're not versed in the types of magic." Obsidian Blaze apologized. "Well lets see indirect energy spells include magic that does not form a straight line or require a direct line of sight such as levitation and mass teleportation, while personalized spells are ones like disguise spell and personal teleportation." he continued. Turning to the large disc Obsidian Blaze focused a spell on it, causing the disc to glow a deep crimson.
"Systems charging forward thrusters online, battle net online, all system online." Starbane stated changing from a light green to the deep crimson that now filled the arcane reactor. "Power levels optimal, initiating lift off." Starbane continued.
"Well lets get back to that room." Obsidian Blaze stated moving out of the reactor room. "What in Tartarus!" he gasped as the top half of the glass wall now reviled trees and seemed to rise higher.
"Please select destination." Starbane asked as a holographic map appeared. "System warning, this vessel can not break orbit." Starbane continued.
"Here." Obsidian Blaze ordered, pointing a holographic representation of Ponyville.
"Destination confirmed, optimal altitude achieved." Starbane stated as the trees of the Everfree Forest seemed to move under them. Within moments the Starbane stopped just outside Ponyville, maneuvering as to not cover Sweet Apple Acres.
"What in tarnation?!" Applejack yelled as the Starbane hovered over the rolling hills. At that moment all the ponies of Ponyville were outside, gawking at the hovering object.
"Warning hostiles detected!" Starbane shouted as an image of Princess Celestia and Princess Luna appeared.
"Starbane stand down!" Obsidian Blaze shouted. "They'er friends." he continued concentrating on Princess Luna.
"Tia!" Luna shouted as her horn glowed and Obsidian Blaze appeared. "General we need your help..." Luna started but was cut off by a wave of Obsidian Blaze's hoof.
"Your highness' please stand down, the Starbane is under my command." Obsidian Blaze explained. "Please come aboard, we will need to discuss this matter face to face." he continued before cutting the spell.
"Tia is it just me or was his horn missing?" Luna asked turning to her sister.
"We should let him explain." Celestia responded. The two alicorns flew to a nearby hatch on the ship. As they approached the door is opened allowing the pair entry.
"Tia lookout!" Luna yelled a a crimson figure appeared.
"Do not be alarmed, I am Starbane the ship's arcane intelligence." Starbane explained, motioning a hoof for them to follow.
"Your highness'. Obsidian Blaze greeted. "I see you met Starbane." he continued as four flames appeared forming chairs for the ponies and changeling. "Now Starbane, time for an explanation, first what did you mean by mixed pure blood?" Obsidian Blaze asked taking a seat.
"DNA indicated multiple changeling classes flowing within you, these classes include the warrior and magister classes." Starbane explained.
"Magister class?" Rainbow Dash asked.
"Affirmative, the magister class changelings were capable of large technological and arcane advancements, eventually the Project Starbane was designed a the first full on mesh of these technology and magic. Further more they were the only class of changeling capable of wielding magic without horns." Starbane explained.
"That should be impossible." Celestia stated.
"Negative, magister class changelings are a clear example of this." Starbane responded. "Warning, multiple hostiles detected, charging defensive cannons." Starbane continued as alarms wailed. Outside pegusi beat on the hull of the ship. "Activating loud speakers." Star and finished as a screen appeared in front of Celestial.
"My little ponies, calm yourselves this object wishes no harm." Celestial stated, her voice being heard all around. At once the pegusi stopped and began murmuring to each other.
"Hostilities ceased, powering down cannons." Star and stated as a screen showed the lower levels of power diverted to the defensive cannons.
"Well this vessel will remain here for the time being." Celestial stated. "I trust you can handle this General." she continued, turning to Obsidian Blaze.
"Of course, your Highness." Obsidian Blaze responded. Nodding the princesses left for Canterlot.
"Hey Blaze, are you home?" Twilight Sparkle yelled knocking on the door to Obsidian Blaze's home. 'Huh, a letter?' Twilight thought as she spotted a small scroll next to the door.
If you are reading this then I am still absent on my trip to Canterlot. I am sorry for any inconveniences this trip might cause, but I was called away by order of Princess Luna in terms of national defense. Beyond this I can say nothing but I should be back soon

"National defense?" Twilight mumbled trotting back to her castle, leaving the note behind.
"Come on." Obsidian Blaze grunted. Soon a burst of flames consumed him, but as they dispersed no change had occurred to his physical form. "Dammit!" Obsidian Blaze shouted. "Alright, once more." he mumbled closing his eyes once more. As Obsidian Blaze focused on himself, flames burst around him. Opening his eyes Obsidian Blaze was greeted by dark grey fur. 'Just in time.' he thought as the train blew it's whistle, signifying the approach to Canterlot station. Stepping off the train Obsidian Blaze was immediately encountered by three earth ponies.
"There he is, you two know the drill, kill it." the pony in the middle spoke before all three drew crossbows. Upon firing Obsidian Blaze jumped up, one bolt piercing his hide.
"Alright ya want a fight, i'll give ya one." Obsidian Blaze stated drooping his disguise.
"The heck, never seen one like that!" one of the ponies yelled.
"One warning, stand down or die." Obsidian Blaze growled darkly.
"Stop right there!" yelled a bat pony mare, swooping in.
"Next time." the leader stated as the trio ran.
"Private Nova sir, are you alright?" the bat pony asked landing in front of Obsidian Blaze.
"Minor injury,i'll survive." Obsidian Blaze replied, wincing as he put his injured hoof down. The pain caused him to lift the hoof.
"Princess Luna wishes to meet you General." Nova stated.
"That's what she said when she contacted me." Obsidian Blaze responded.
"But why not tell you then?" Nova asked looking to the changeling.
"Princess Luna said the spell could be intercepted, so it would be best to meet face to face." Obsidian Blaze stated limping.
"General, you should get that looked at." Nova pointed out. "Actually now that I look at it, your wound looks a lot better." she continued.
"That's due to the excess amounts of magic around here, my body heals faster using unneeded arcane energy." Obsidian Blaze explained. Upon reaching the castle Obsidian Blaze's wound was fully closed as he began to put more wight on it.
"Ah General Blaze, i'm glad you made it." Luna stated as he entered the room with Nova.
"Princess Luna, we did have some trouble." Nova stated with a bow.
"Changeling hunters your highness." Obsidian Blaze explained. "They seemed well armed and trained, about as well as the bat pony guard." he continued bowing.
"Yes thank you for bringing this to my attention." Luna stated, motioning for the pair to rise. "Private, may we speak alone." Luna requested.
"Of course your highness." Nova stated, leaving the room.
"Now general, Equestria needs a defense should the Elements of Harmony fail." Luna explained walking down from the throne. "I would like you to make an organization for this." she continued.
"Makes sense, should one of the elements die of fall ill we'll need a defense." Obsidian Blaze murmured. "It will take time but the Starbane can serve as a base of operations, but witch of the princesses lead it?" he asked.
"Celestia and I have discussed this, we have come to the conclusion that it would be best for all princesses to posses equal power." Luna explained.
"Then I take it You will both lead?" Obsidian Blase asked.
"Yes, I will lead the millitary side and Celestia will lead political matters." Luna stated.
"Agreed, and I think I have a name." Obsidian Blaze stated. Nodding Luna allowed him to continue. "How does The New Equestrian Reserves sound?" he asked looking in to the dark princess' eyes.
"It will do." Luna agreed.
"General I stand ready for orders." Starbane stated appearing.
"How did you?" Obsidian Blaze asked, bewildered by the unexpected appearance.
"I am linked to your arcane essence, allowing me to stay in contact with you when necessary." Starbane stated. "The ship's signature has been updated to the NER Starbane." Starbane continued.
"Affirmative Starbane." Obsidian Blaze stated. "Your highness, I would like to select a few of your recruits to start with." he continued, turning to Princess Luna.
"Of coarse Genera, I have recruits ready for you now." Luna a stated, gesturing for Obsidian Blaze to follow. Exiting the room Nova followed the pair. "Nova is one such recruit." Luna explained. "And these are the rest." she continued opening the courtyard door. The courtyard was filled with a full battalion of bat pony guards.
"BATTALION, ANTEN-TUN!" yelled what appeared to be the battalion,s commander.
"Atease!" Luna commanded loudly. With this the battalion stood still, moving only their heads. "This is General Obsidian Blaze, he will be leading you in a new task force." Luna continued. Luna motioned for Obsidian Blaze to move forward.
"Any questions?" Obsidian Blaze asked firmly. "Yes, you." he stated pointing to a male guard.
"Yes sir, where will we be operating from?" the stallion asked.
"From the NER Starbane, the arcane intelligence, Starbane, will guide you though your positions." Obsidian Blaze replied.
"General drop-ships inbound to pick up troops." Starbane stated appearing on the balcony.
"Alright, troops this is Starbane, best get to know him on the ship." Obsidian Blaze explianed. "DISMISSED!" he yelled. Minutes later several drop-ships landed in the courtyard and the beginnings of the NER loaded on.
"Starbane situate the troops upon the ship, i'm heading for Ponyville." Obsidian Blaze commanded boarding a dropship.
"Yes General." Starbane replied fading away. As the dropship's cargo door closed the engines roared to life. Taking a seat Obsidian Blaze thought back to his battle with the Timberwolf.
'That thing craked my chitin like a nut, I need better armor.' Obsidian Blaze thought to himself. 'I think i'll have Ms. Rarity draw up some designs.' he continued, leaning forward. Arriving in Ponyville in minutes, Obsidian Blaze headed towards Rarity's home and shop. "Ms. Rarity are you here?" he asked moving into the main floor. Looking around, many objects where out of place and even broken. Moving carefully though Carousel Boutique Obsidian Blaze saw markings he cold not quite pace. 'What in Tartarus.' he thought. Moments later a scream caused him to jerk around to see the horrified face of Rarity.
"What happened to my Boutique, it's a absolute disaster!" Rarity screamed.
"I'd say fanatics." Obsidian Blaze stated bluntly, looking around. "For what. I don't know." he continued.
"This must be cleaned immediately, i'll get Twilight." Rarity stated, seaming half-mad.
"No need." Obsidian Blaze sternly stated closing his eyes.
"Oh hey Obsidian, what do you need?" Twilight Sparkle asked.
"Ms. Rarity's store has been trashed, we'll start cleaning but we may need help." Obsidian Blaze stated bluntly. Gasping Twilight cut the spell. "Well, lets get started." he continued turning to Rarity. Nodding Rarity lit her horn and began to shift though the mess. Within hours, with the help of Twilight and Rainbow Dash, the Boutique was clean.
"I'm going to find whoever did this and give them what-for!" Rainbow Dash yelled, throwing her front hooves together.
"I'm not even sure what this symbol means." Twilight stated, looking at the green symbol that was left.
"Systems to not hold any information regarding this rune." Starbane explained appearing in the room, catching the six mares off guard. "General, systems have detected an energy surge within the Everfree Forest, a clearing has appeared." Starbane continued.
"What the?" Obsidian Blaze gasped as the stone in the Obsidian Forge started to glow.
"You never leave that thing any where do you?" Twilight asked looking at the dark hammer. "And has it ever done that?" she asked as the hammer began to float.
"No!" Obsidian Blaze shouted bursting out in to the night. "Starbane, keep tracking that." he contained, buzzing his wings taking off.
"Affirmative, dropship inbound to track target." Starbane replied. Moments latter Obsidian Blaze was passed by a dark dropship. "Warning, I am losing connection to the dropship. Something is... fighting for control." Starbane stated. The dropship began to jerk around and the engines began to flicker, switching between deep red and bright orange. "Arcane disturbance detected, I am...... my connection..... you." Starbane continued. "Alter.... possible source..... disturbance." Starbane finished before disappearing completely.
'If the connection is lost, then who's piloting the dropship.' Obsidian Blaze thought, watching the dropship slowed and lowered into a clearing. 'What in Tartarus, this wan't here before.' he continued. Landing in the clearing Obsidian Blaze noticed a large circular stone slap in the middle with the dropship about two yards away.
"A new magister rises." stated a large orange figure, with thick plating covering it. "Yet you are not the only one." it continued moving forward.
"Who are you?" Obsidian Blaze asked, growing slightly irritated.
"We are past Obsidian Knights of the Order." replied a female voice from a small purple figure. "While we are not the only ones we were chosen to counsel you as a Knight, but another comes." the female figure continued.
"What order?" Obsidian Blaze asked looking at the two figures, recognizing the larger one as a brute class changeling and the smaller one as a deceiver class changeling.
"The Obsidian Order, built upon the founding of the Obsidian Forge." came a voice as a deep red figure resembling a warrior class changeling. "My son, I wish I could be there for you, to stand by your side when you stood for the honor of those around you." the red figure continued lowering his head.
"Wait you're my father?" Obsidian Blaze asked in disbelief.
"Yes, when your mother was chosen as queen I knew the next magister would be raised correctly as a warrior." the figure spoke. "However you are not the only, your brother will see the beacon, and he believes you killed his mother." the figure continued. After hours of silence, a light cracking sounded from the forest.
"I believe this is him." the female changeling stated as a small changeling stepped into the clearing.
"You!" the changeling growled. As the changeling charged, Obsidian Blaze drew his jagged Night Blaze.
"We don't have to do this, stand down." Obsidian Blaze stated blocking knife swings from the deranged changeling.
"You killed my mother, my queen, you'll pay!" the changeling screamed. The changeling dazed Obsidian Blaze and took the Night Blade. Thoughout the fight the Obsidian Forge glew brightly, reshaping itself.
"The forge has chosen" the orange changeling stated as a blade emerged from the light and flew to Obsidian Blaze. The two blades clashed sending sparks. After countless clashes the Night Blade shattered as the new blade stood firm.
"Wold you fight an unarmed changeling?" the small changeling asked quivering.
"Not with a blade." Obsidian Blaze stated, allowing the purple changeling to take the blade and examine it. The tow magisters butted heads and hooves, eventually the smaller decepter tired due to not being trained for extended combat. Stumbleing the decepter fell with the Night Blade to his side. "Please brother stand down." Obsidian Blaze pleaded.
"I'd die first!" the decepter screamed back.
"As you wish." Obsidian Blaze sighed, taking the long sword from the purple changeling and thrusting it though the smaller decepter. "Forgive me brother." he continued with a sigh.
"Such emotions for one you never knew." the purple changeling stated looking at the corps.
"That aside, you are now an obsidian knight." the large orange changeling added. "As a knight of the order you are charged with the protection of our home land." it continued.
"The Badlands?" Obsidian Blaze asked.
"No, this land was once our home before the equines." Obsidian Blaze's father stated. "However we of the order are not meant to claim the land for changelings once more, but protect those whom inhabit it from threats." he continued. "Take this alter to your vessel and we will follow." he requested.
"This will allow us to fully reactivate the Starbane." the purple changeling explained.
"Very well, but know my troops will have their eyes on you." Obsidian Blaze replied. After a few hours a larger dropship arrived and several stallions unloaded. The stallions letvated the stone alter loading it onto the dropship and climbed aboard as well and the engines roared to life.
"General, hostile changelings!" yelled one of the stallions.
"They hunt you and threaten this land, show them what a knight of the order is." Obsidian Blaze's father instructed.
"There's the one that killed the queen!" one of the changelings yelled as the rest hissed.
"For Equestria!" Obsidian Blaze yelled drawing his new blade and flying towards the changelings.
"The Obsidian Blade only shows itself to those of great honor and loyalty." the orange changeling spirit stated.
"And those of great valor and honesty." the purple changeling spirit added. "It has been ages since that blade has shown itself." she continued. As the three spirits spoke Obsidian Blaze cut though several changelings before being forced to retreat.
"Hostiles within defensive cannon range." Starbane stated as a barrage of red beams burst though the air. The cannons, cutting down the rest of the changelings, nearly hit the two dropships in the process.
"General has command." Starbane stated as Obsidian Blaze walked onto the bridge of the vessel. "General, in your abstinence I was able to identify and revitalize several training simulations." Starbane continued.
"Alright run the first one, lets see what the troops can do." Obsidian Blaze ordered.
"All troops prepare for battle simulation T21-25, Objective- eliminate hostile forces." Starbane stated over the NER Starbane's intercom. The front window became covered in red flame, dissipating shortly after to revile a battlefield filled with ships similar to the NER Starbane, the warships immediately opened fire on the Starbane.
"General, arcane barriers taking damage!" a stallion yelled, turning from a monitor.
"Defensive canons at 65% Sir!" another yelled.
"Starbane, search systems for something we can use immediately." Obsidian Blaze commanded.
"Affirmative, system scan in progress." Starbane replied. "Main gun systems detected, charging." Starbane continued affter a few moments.
"You, on the main gun!" Obsidian Blaze yelled at an idle stallion. Nodding the stallion got to a computer.
"Main gun, 25% Sir!" the stallion yelled.
"Initiating defensive cannon fire!" yelled the stallion looking over the ship's defensive cannons.
"Arcane barriers at 50% General!" a mare yelled out.
"Main gun ready to fire!" yelled the stallion on the main gun controls.
"Initiating main gun firing sequences." Starbane announced as a red glow grew between the prongs jutting from the bow of the Starbane.
"Starbane, aim for the command ship." Obsidian Blaze ordered calmly.
"Command ship sighted, barriers offline." Starbane stated as a much larger ship appeared. "Firing main gun." Starbane continued as the red orb forming at the bow of the ship shot off. The main gun's arcane round smashed though the hulls of multiple dreadnoughts before it detonated, clearing the area of hostile ships. "Warning hostile command ship barriers now active." Starbane stated, shuffling in what appeared to be fear.
"Train all weapons on that ship!" Obsidian Blaze screamed as a barrage of red beams hurled ahead, impacting on the larger vessel. The targeting screen indicated the shields of the command ship to be at 33%, being the shields just started charging.
"Fighter systems detected, deploying." Starbane stated just before small, fast moving craft zoomed forward. The small fighters swarmed the command ship pestering it's defenses as the Starbane's main gun charged. "Main gun charged, recalling fighters." Starbane stated as the dozens of fighters returned.
"Fire." Obsidian Blaze ordered with a growl. As the red bolt conected with the command ship it exploded raining fire down on the hills below.
"Simulation complete, mission accomplished." Starbane stated as the red flame on the front window of the Starbane dissipated.
