It has been years since the attack of the changelings, led by the evil Queen Chrysalis. The invasion ruined the Royal Wedding and nearly destroyed Canterlot, but in the end, the Queen was defeated and she was banished from the capital. After that, many thought she disappeared, never to be seen again…that is, until the day she returned to the castle, alone.

Of course, when she was spotted she was immediately arrested and dragged off to the dungeon for questioning. When the captain of the Royal Guard heard of her presence, many questions plagued his mind.

‘What is she doing here?’

‘What’s her plan this time?’

And the one he wondered the most…

‘Why is she…crying?’

At least the first two questions would be answered when she was hauled off to Princess Celestia’s throne room. Shining Armor was there for security, as Chrysalis stood silently in front of her adversary.

Celestia herself was not one for expressing anger, but the recent memories of what the Changeling Queen did to her beloved citizens made her look down upon her with scorn. “You have a lot of nerve, Chrysalis, showing your face in my kingdom unannounced without warning. Why have you returned?”

Of all the responses she expected, never did Celestia think that the proud Queen would kneel before her. “Please, your majesty, I’m in need of your help. I beg of you!”

Celestia and Shining both stood there silently, surprised at the sight before them. Never did they imagine the Queen groveling before them. Despite this, Celestia continued. “Explain yourself, and I would advise that you tell me the truth. No tricks this time!”

Chrysalis shrunk at the tone of her voice. She silently prayed that her next words matter. “I understand if you won’t believe me, but I promise you no form of trickery or vengeance. I came here by myself to ask for peace between Ponies and Changelings. I surrender myself to you and your forces.”

Celestia stared at Chrysalis with a hint of pity. She still decided to stay sharp, just in case. “What happened to you? You’re a proud ruler of a vicious and dangerous race. It’s definitely not like you to just give up like this.”

“A proud ruler who has failed her own kind. My changelings have been starving ever since the failed invasion. I’ve tried everything in my power to feed them, but now we’re reduced to mere scraps. It’s only a matter of time until my whole race dies.” Chrysalis felt tears start to roll down her cheeks. “All I ask is for some way for my children to feed and not hurt your subjects. I will literally do anything you want, no matter the cost, if it means even one can live.”

Shining Armor had listened to every word the Queen said, but he unmoved by her story. This has to be some sort of scheme to get back at his wife and sister for last time, and he would make sure it wouldn’t happen again. Just as he was about to intervene, Celestia stood up and walked toward the sobbing Queen, staring into her dark, green eyes.

The air stood silent, as no one dared to do or say anything. Chrysalis held her breath, as she felt herself tense up, frozen under the Princess’s gaze. The judgment she was receiving felt unbearable, as if in any moment, she would burst right into flames. In an instant, however, she felt the pressure wash away as a white hand gestured toward her. She looked up in confusion. “I…don’t understand…”

Celestia gave her a small smile. “Come, if we want to save your people, we have some diplomatic discussions to have.”

After that day, Equestria would be changed forever. A treaty was passed between the ponies of Equestria and the Changeling Hive, officially ending the war between them. The signature caused quite the stir on both sides, especially the Ponies, each of them thinking this was a disastrous idea. Despite any complaints from the citizens, the four Princesses and the Queen signed the agreement that would allow Changelings to live alongside Ponies.

It has been a whole year since the treaty was passed, and many Changelings have been residing in cities such as Ponyville, Canterlot, and many more. While many are still not fond of the change, many welcomed it and saw it as a hopeful sign of peace in Equestria for many generations. It was especially great for the Changelings, as their hunger for love diminished over time, and their attitudes became much more docile.

As for Chrysalis, rarely was she ever seen since the treaty was signed. Due to the Changelings becoming proper citizens of Equestria, she now shares her power over them with the rest of the Princesses. Her title of Queen dropped, making her the Ambassador of the Changeling hive, even though the Changelings would still refer her as “Queen”…and on occasions, they’d even refer to the Princesses as such.

Come to the present day in Canterlot, under Luna’s night sky. Shining Armor stood nervously right in front of one of The Crystal Empire’s finest restaurants, “The Midnight Rendezvous”. He wore a bright and freshly ironed blue suit and tie that he hasn’t wore in years. Checking his watch it was almost time for his date to meet him for dinner.

With a deep sigh he shook his head and looked toward sky. “How did I get in this mess?”

---

“You’re kidding me, right?”

“Nope!”

Shining Armor sighed as he shrugged and shook his head. “So, let me get this straight…you want your own husband, and father of our little girl, to go on a dinner date…with Chrysalis?”

“Why, yes, I don’t see what’s hard to understand from that.”

“Seriously Cadence!? You’re literally asking me to go on a date with the monster who trapped you in a dungeon, messed with my mind, and tried to take over Canterlot! Am I supposed to pretend none of that ever happened!?”

Cadence placed her hand on her husband’s shoulder. “Honey, please, you can’t act like this. I know Chrissy has done horrible things to us, and believe me, I wanted to tear her apart for what she did…”

Cadence turned around as she laid her eyes upon a picture taken long ago. It was of her and Chrysalis at the beach, enjoying themselves in front of the waves. Cadence liked the picture, but at the same time, the fake smile told another tale. “…I remember the first time Celestia told me that Chrysalis wanted peace between her kingdom and ours. I didn’t believe for a second she was turning good; I thought she was here to get us and our baby. It took both Luna and Celestia to keep me from incinerating her where she stood.”

Shining crossed his arms. “So, what changed?”

“I saw in her eyes how desperate she was for her people. She told us how much she wanted to save her children from the brink of extinction. She was even willing to accept any an every punishment for all she done in the past, no matter how harsh. That’s when I realized that this wasn’t some plan to get revenge on us. This was a fallen Queen’s plea for help, and I didn’t want anger to get the better of me.”

Shining Armor listened intently to his wife about her new friend, yet was still skeptical. “And you have zero doubts that this is not a ruse?”

Cadence sighed. “I know you just want to protect the ones you care about, and I appreciate it more than you think, but you’re being too paranoid. Chrysalis is done trying to take over and only cares about her people and their well-being. Trust me; once you two finally sit down and talk, you’ll start to like her. Besides, Twilight warmed up to her, took way longer than I did, but at least they’re both talking.”

“Okay, I’ll give you that, but mind telling me why I have to do this? Can’t we do something else or have Twilight hang with her?”
Cadence immediately shook her head in response. “I’m afraid not. Ever since she surrendered herself, she’s been near emotionless. It’s like all that bravado and confidence she once had has been drained and replaced with sorrow. Even after the treaty was signed and her people started to thrive, she hardly ever smiled and she hardly ever comes outside. She’s just empty…”

“Wow…sounds like surrendering did a number on her pride.”

“I wouldn’t know, she always tries to play it off as nothing. Twilight and I did everything we could to cheer her up, but nothing ever seemed to work, which is where you come in. I had a chat one day with Chrysalis and we both talked about Flurry Heart.”

Shining immediately groaned at that last sentence. “I still don’t like how you let Chrysalis meet Flurry in our own home.”

“Focus honey. Anyways, during the conversation, she talked about how lucky I was to have a husband like you. She even told me that she was a bit jealous.”

“I got a bad feeling I know where this is going…”

“So one thing led to another…and she mentioned that she always wished she could go on a date with you.”

A blush immediately came over Shining’s cheeks. “Wait, what!?”

Cadence laughed wholeheartedly. “That’s what I said. She told me that back when she was disguised as me, most of that time was spent just with you. Even though that time was used deceiving you, she actually developed a bit of a crush on you.”

Shining couldn’t help but stand there, both confused and curious. “Seriously? But she was just using me for her plans, right?

“True, but she just couldn’t help but tell me how dreamy you were. She was truly admired by your status of Captain and she was grateful on how kind you were to her. She loved how strong you were, how smooth your fur felt, how well-toned your flank wa-”

“-Ok! I think I get it!” Shining yelled, embarrassed by the thoughts Chrysalis had towards him. “So, I’ll go on this date with Chrysalis then?”

Cadence nodded. “I already got you two reservations to the best restaurant in the Empire. You’ll wear your best outfit you can find and be there at exactly seven o’clock. Just act like it was our first date, strike up conversations, show her a good time, and make sure she gets home safely.”

“Alright, mom…but seriously, if you trust her that much, I’ll be sure to show her a good time.”

“Speaking of…” Cadence started, with a small hint of lust in her voice. “I want you to do your best, no matter what, even if you two need to get more…intimate.”

Shining lifted an eyebrow at what Cadence was suggesting, but as the gears turned, his face turned a paler shade of white, as he realized what she meant. “WAIT, WHAT?!”

“I’m just saying that as the Princess of Love, I grant you both full-freedoms to do whatever you want. Even if you two decide to do something that would be considered taboo normally.”

Shining took a step back as he put two and two together. “Cadence, what the Tartarus?! We’re married and we have a kid. I can’t have sex with Chrysalis!”

“It’s ok honey. I trust you completely that you’ll make all the right choices. Even if you two actually have sex, I won’t get mad because, in the end, I know you’ll stay loyal to me and our child.” Cadence stepped closer to whisper into her husband’s ear teasingly. “So, I want you two to have the best night ever, without any worry.” Cadence then stepped back, taking a more serious tone, tilting her head down, as she looked up to her lover. “I just want my friend to smile again. I want her to see that, despite what she did in the past, she’s now in a safe place with all of us. If you won’t do it for her…will you do it for me?”

Shining sighed as Cadence was giving him her trademark eyes that always get him to do what she wants. In his mind, he was thinking about
Chrysalis, maybe she really did change and needed see that she has been accepted into Equestria. Giving her a contented sigh, he smiled.

“Alright, Cadence, I’ll get my best suit ready.”

“Thanks honey! You’re the best!” Cadence cheered, smiling as he hugged her husband tightly. "Trust me Shiny, you won't regret this."

---

“Oh…right…that’s how.”

Shining Armor glanced at his wristwatch to see that it was almost seven, and Chrysalis would be arriving any in second. He had the whole night planned out; a nice dinner in the fanciest restaurant around, have nice conversation that doesn’t involve any evil schemes, then round it off with a nice stroll in the Empire. Maybe if he’s lucky, they can both go to bed without being too kinky tonight.

“Excuse me…your Highness.”

As the big hand reached twelve, Shining heard a near faint whisper of a voice from his left. He looked to see a sight that mesmerized him. A beautiful mare with pink fur in a red dress, her horn and wings glistening in the night, as she stood shyly. “Uh…C-Cadence? Wh-what are you doing here?”

Princess Cadence giggled as she flicked her hair in an attractive manner. “Greetings my wonderful Prince, it seems like I am your date for tonight. Chrysalis unfortunately couldn’t come since she was dreadfully too sick to come. So I’m here to take her place just for you. Perhaps it’s for the better though, after all, surely you prefer your beautiful mare tha-”

“-Chrysalis…you can drop the disguise, I know it’s you.”

Cadence looked surprised to at the small accusation toward her, but immediately groaned and shook her head. “Should’ve known that wouldn’t work. You’re more perceptive than I thought.”

Immediately, the mare’s eyes glowed, as a ring of green fire circled around her. Slowly, she started to transform, as the pink fur turned a rich shade of obsidian, and the dress she wore changed as well. Her feathery wings became transparent and insect-like, and her horn turned jagged and sharper.

The process made Shining block his eyes from the bright sight before him. When the glow faded, he looked to see a view that made him speechless. Her date, Queen Chrysalis, garbed in a black and green shaded dress. She wore black high-heels and bug-like earrings along with her purse. She looked at him with her emerald eyes and spoke with her usual regal tone. “Greetings, Shining Armor, it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.”

“Whoa…”

“Yes, I apologize for the rather…crude disguise. I know Cadence wanted tonight to be just you and me, but I thought you might want her inst-”

“-You’re beautiful.”

Chrysalis immediately noticed the sudden compliment and looked at her date, confused. “I…I am?”

Shining stumbled on his words. “I mean…you look fantastic tonight in that dress.”

“I…uh…yes, thank you. You look quite nice yourself.” Chrysalis mentally groaned at the great start she was on already. “In any case, I’m quite surprised Cady picked this restaurant for us to dine in. She told me getting reservations took months in advance to get.”

“Well, when you’re royalty like us, getting reservations isn’t so hard to do. Cadence and I ate here many times, so I know you’ll find something you’ll love.”

“Could you not say that word to me tonight?”

“What word?”

“You know the word, you damn fool!” Chrysalis angrily growled. Her agitation was shortly lived as she noticed the defensive stance he was taking. She sighed in response. “Forgive me, but that last word you used…please don’t use it for the rest of the night. Let’s just get this over with…”

Shining saw Chrysalis march inside the restaurant without even a second thought. Pinching the bridge of his nose, he took a deep breath, and followed her inside. ‘For you, Cadence, I’m going to help your friend.’

The inside of the restaurant was filled with bright, elegant decorations and the smell of delicious and expensive meals. Many rich ponies who all managed to get their reservations enjoyed talking among themselves and ate to the live band that played brilliant jazz music for the patrons. Looking around, Chrysalis observed the unfamiliar environment. The elaborate and dazzling environment captivated her like a child. Feeling out of place, she immediately turned to her date. “I can tell Cady doesn’t lie with her claims.”

Shining smiled. “Here, I’m gonna get our seats while you just relax and look around.” Seeing her nod in agreement, he went up to the receptionist and greeted the waiter. “Good evening, my good man, reservations for Prince Shining Armor, please.”

The receptionist, clad in his uniform of a black suit and bowtie, smiled. “Ah, yes, here it is…Prince Shining Armor and your guest for tonight, Ambassador…” The receptionist looked up, puzzled, before seeing Shining Armor’s guest, almost stumbling on his next words. “Um…yes, your majesty Shining Armor and Ambassador Chrysalis…er, w-we have your perfect table, right this way.”

‘Huh…he’s usually not this nervous.’ Shining thought, noticing the receptionist’s tone. “Hmm, whatever, you coming, Chrysalis?”

“You really want to do this, Prince?” Chrysalis asked fearfully, as the two started to follow the waiter. “I know I told Cady my desire for a night like this, but actually doing it is not what I wanted. We should just go now.”

“Well, we’re already in the restaurant, we can’t turn back now. Besides, everything is going just fine, there’s nothing to worry about.”

Chrysalis sighed, as the emotions in the air were hitting her hard. She didn’t see them, but she could feel the angry eyes following her as she passed by them. She can sense the negative emotions of uncertainty and disdain for the former evil Queen of the Changelings. The taste was utterly disgusting to her. ‘A year after I surrendered and they still see me as a major threat. Only seems fitting for a monster like me.’

The three finally reached the table. The Midnight Rendezvous was well known for its garden section, where eaters can eat among the Empire’s most beautiful flowers and plants. Their table stood in the middle of a circle along with others. A path to the expanding garden where patrons can break from their meals and enjoy a stroll. “Here’s your table sir and madam.”

Shining smiled, as he pulled out Chrysalis’ chair for her. She silently thanked him, as the two were given their menu. “Your waitress for the night will be with you shortly, your Majesty. I hope you enjoy your night.”

The receptionist quickly left, but not before taking a nervous glance at the grown Changeling, as if expecting her to attack. Shining noticed this and gave a questioned glace, then heard a sad sigh coming from his date. He cleared his throat and took a stab at small talk. “So Chrysalis, um…we never really talked before, how’s things?”

The former Queen could sense the uneasiness in his voice, but decided to go with it. “Interesting to say the least. We recently had to deal with some recent problems concerning Changelings in the health department. Seems that Poison Joke have a variety of rather strange effects on them from random transformations to desires for honey of all things. Luckily your cures work for us along with other common cures. Along with…” Chrysalis froze as a realization came to her. Mentally groaning, she had to ask. “I’m sorry, but are conversations like these normal on dates?”

Shining scratched the back of his head. “Not particularly, but there aren’t really any wrong subjects. I’m not the best with small talk.”

“What is she doing here?”

A foreign, condescending voice suddenly appeared in Chrysalis’s head.

“The ugly bug that nearly took over Canterlot? No way can this be good.”

The voices she would hear nearly every day since her transfer into Equestrian royalty, the patronizing voices of those not accepting her and expecting her to go back to her evil ways. Chrysalis knew her surrender would cause controversy, but even after a year, she could not go outside without ridicule. As she looked around her, she could hear the voices of the Equestria’s cruelest.

“And why is she with the Prince? Did he have some sort of falling out and had to settle with her of all mares?”

“Maybe she hypnotized him like last time. How else would she score hunks like him, not with her looks that’s for sure.”

“Please…stop…”

“We should bring her back to the dungeon before she causes any more trouble.”

“I don’t want to hurt anyone anymore.”

“Hey, why stop there? If I were the Prince, I would just off her where she stood.”

“I just want to be loved…”

“CHRYSALIS!”

The Changeling Queen shrieked as somepony banged a table. Breathing rapidly she glanced at her clenching hands sweating up a storm. She looked up and saw a concerned Shining Armor staring at her. “What happened?”

“Take it easy. You were mumbling to yourself and freaking out or something. Are you okay?”

Taking a moment to look around, she saw that the customers were still eating, as if nothing happened. She tried to calm down as her heart kept racing, quickly composing herself, she coughed in her hand. “I’m fine, Shining Armor, just a bit anxious about…food. Where is that blasted waitress?”

As if on cue, a short, teenage pony in uniform appeared, getting to their table in a flash. “Oh, excuse my lateness. My name is Crystal Core and I’ll be your waitress for tonight.”

“Well, it’s about damn time you showed up.”

“I know, I’m terribly sorry about that. It’s just that the other waiters were forcing me to serve you two. I’m not sure why though, who wouldn’t want to serve royalty in a restaurant like this? Oh, but enough about me, would you like something to drink tonight?”

Shining smiled as he looked at his menu. “Yes, ma’am, I would like lemonade please.”

“Sure thing, your Majesty, and for you, Ambassador Chrysalis?”

“Uh…” Chrysalis took a quick glance at her menu. In actuality, she almost forgot she was in a restaurant. “Actually…I think some red wine would be nice.”

Crystal happily jotted down the orders, humming a random tune. “10-4! I’ll be right back with your drinks!”

The waitress quickly stepped toward kitchen, her enthusiasm starting to get onto the Changeling’s nerves. “Is she always this peppy? If you ask me, it’s rather annoying.”

Shining ignored the rude question in favor of one more important. “I think I have a question of my own. Ever since we got here, you’ve been acting strange.”

“What do you mean I’ve been acting strange? As if you know how I really act when I’m on dates.”

“True, but you’re acting stranger than the other times I’ve seen you. The whole time, you’ve been looking around, as if you’re expecting something terrible to happen. I shouldn’t even have to mention that little panic attack you had a second ago. I’m just a little concerned.”

She gritted her teeth. “I’m just a little stressed is all; things haven’t been quite spectacular for me as of late. Not like it matters to anypony, it’s just my emotions after all.”

“It matters to me, you are our friend and if there’s anything wrong, I want to help.”

Chrysalis looked down at the table, surprised that Shining would even consider calling her a friend. In fact, that would be the last thing she would expect him to call her, creepy bug lady probably being the second to last. It definitely was strange to hear, but she really liked it.

Suddenly, she heard a small laugh coming from across the table. “What’s so funny, Prince?”

“Heh…you’re blushing.”

Feeling her cheeks warm up, she quickly banged her hands against the table, completely flustered. “Sh-shut up, you jerk!”

Shining Armor laughed even harder. “Sorry, it’s just that you look absolutely adorable! Cadence would’ve just eaten this up if she was here.”

She hissed under her breath at the jest. She lifted her menu to block her view. ‘How embarrassing, I never thought my life would come to this. Guess it’s want I deserve though…oooh, that one looks nice.’ A clink of glass jotted her out of her own thoughts. She looked to see that her wine finally came after what seemed like so long.

“Here you go guys, fresh lemonade and the best red wine we have.” Crystal announced, smiling. “Wanted to get this to you quickly to make up for my late entrance.”

“Well, I’m certainly impressed by the service.” Shining said, sipping his delicious lemonade right up. “Tastes great, just like before. What about you, Chrysalis?”

Quickly taking a huge sip of her wine, she took in the succulent taste that was her favorite drink in the world, a flavor that always calmed her nerves back when she was still Queen of an entire race. It reminded her of her days back when she was still feared throughout Equestria. “Tastes as good as I remembered.”

“Perfect, I certainly do my best to make sure all I serve go home full and happy. Especially royalties like you two. You both inspired me and my fiancé to do our best every day, no matter how hard it can get in these times. So since you have your drinks, can I go ahead and take your orders now?”

“I already know what I want tonight. I’ll have the Hay Pasta, please.”

“Great order, Prince, and you, Ms. Chrysalis?”

“Um…I guess I’ll just have the same meal, if that’s possible.”

“Definitely possible, ma’am.” Crystal said as she jotted down notes for the chef. “All taken care of. I’ll have it all here before you know it!” In a peppy step, she walked toward another table to check on them.

Chrysalis sighed, relieved that the overly upbeat girl was gone again. She knew nothing about her, but she already can’t stand her. How she skips along a professional restaurant like she freely can. The way she’s annoyingly friendly to her without even being cautious about what she was before. She thought more about the last reason she disliked her, but the thought made her realize something. ‘She called me an inspiration. The evil ruler of the Changeling race…and I inspire her to do better...’

Inspiration and respect; these were the words she would use to describe her? Does that waitress even know what she did? How she nearly destroyed everything she loved out of revenge, how she was forced to literally beg for forgiveness for everything she had done? She didn’t deserve to be an inspiration and she didn’t deserve love or respect. She was a monster…a hideous monster.

“You’re not welcome here, bug!”

“Throw that bitch in a dungeon!”

“Those Changelings can’t be trusted!”

“Chrysalis, are you okay?”

Chrysalis snapped out her thoughts and looked back at Shining, his face plastered with concern. Just as she was about to say she was fine, she could feel tears falling down her cheeks, her once stoic façade shattered into pieces. “I…I need to go.”

Before he could react, the Prince saw Chrysalis rush toward the restaurant gardens, ignoring anyone who saw her. He tried to call out to her, but like everyone else, he was ignored, leaving the sad Captain behind. “Damn it, way to play it smooth…” He said, sighing to himself.

“Guess those rumors were true.”

Shining looked to his left to see Crystal was back with a small basket of bread and butter, her eyes portraying sadness, with a hint of wonder. “What rumors are you talking about?”

Placing the bread down, she explained. “The rumors about the Pony and Changeling peace treaty, and how it affected Queen Chrysalis. A lot of the media said that the treaty made her reclusive, shamed about everything she had done in the past. I thought it was all nonsense at first, until my fiancé finally confirmed it for me. Can’t imagine how much pain she endured at this point.”

Shining Armor groaned at himself. ‘How could I be so ignorant? No wonder Cadence wanted me to go on this date.” His eyes glowing with a sense of determination, he took of his coat and got up from his table. “I’m going after her; don’t let anyone in on what we’re doing.”

“Sir yes sir!” The waitress said, saluting him.

At the entrance of the gardens, he could see the many twisting and turning paths that led to the outer areas of the gardens. Each of them would lead to a dead end, however, which made searching slightly easier than he initially thought. Using the magic he learned in the Royal Guard, he scanned the area to find any signs of life throughout the gardens. After a few seconds, he quickly found a heat signature in one area and immediately made his way toward it. Another minute passed and he was able to find her, leaning against a pillar.

He could feel the aura of utter despair she was giving off, the total want to be alone. “Chrysalis…tell me what’s wrong.”

“Go away…”

“Chrysalis I need you to tell me what’s wrong, please.”

“I said GO AWAY, YOU WORM! I don’t need you or anypony’s help! I’m better off dying alone, so just LEAVE!”

It was obvious words were not going to work now, Chrysalis is definitely not as calm or reserved as Cadence is when she’s upset. Then again, he tried his best to not make her angry; an uncomfortable couch was always the least of his worries. But he had a mission this time, one given by the Princess of Love, his own wife, and he will not fail.

Throwing all caution in the wind, he took a few steps closer to his objective. He could hear a low, beastly growl, a clear warning that would’ve made any lesser pony run away in fear, but he was determined to make her feel better, no matter what happened next. He came right behind her and placed his hand upon her shoulder.

Suddenly Chrysalis’ anger reached its limit, as she turned around and grabbed his arm, instinctively flexing her wings to appear taller and belted out a threatening hiss. Like a venomous snake, she bared her fangs, spitting out bits of liquid, as her eyes and horn shined a sickening emerald. She was so close that she could bite his face off right then and there.”

“…You done yet?”
Chrysalis couldn’t help but stagger back as she realized that Shining Armor didn’t even so much as flinch. One of her ultimate methods of scare tactics…and it failed to scare one pony. Calming down, she folded her wings and sat down on the ground, her eyes filling with tears.

“Okay Chrysalis, I’m going to ask it again…will you please tell me what’s wrong.”

“Why bother, you didn’t even care about how I felt until Cadence asked you to go on this accursed date.”

“That may be true, but now that I’ve finally see the real you for myself, I realized how selfish I’ve been for the past year. I know that you’re hurt, and now that I can do something about it, I’m ready to help you, but you need to tell me so I can help you.”

Chrysalis felt her tears roll down her cheeks and onto her dress as she asked. “Have you ever felt the sorrow of hundreds of souls crying out at once? The weight of regret after years of being ignorant of the suffering of your people?

Shining could only shake his head. “No…”

Chrysalis gave out a silent chuckle. “Lucky you. After we were all defeated in the invasion of Canterlot years ago, the Changelings were hit hard. We were running out of food, water, and our love reserve was just as low as before. So I spent the whole time coming up with the perfect plan to enact my revenge.” A sadistic smile appeared across her face. “It would’ve been genius, another invasion where all the bases were covered, no mistakes would be made. It was flawless, the greatest attack set by any queen of any generation!”

“And what happened.”

The feeling of nostalgia Chrysalis had recalled from her former days faded. “It turns out that I developed a bit of an obsession. Destroying you ponies was all I could ever think of. I must have rechecked those damn blueprints hundreds of times, I…just ignored everything that didn’t involve those schemes. Sure, I would tend to any drone’s needs, but giving them my full attention was apparently not a concern to me.” She sniffed, as her mind went back to a memory that still haunts her. “And you know what I saw the night I announced the second invasion? The hive decimated…and countless drones laid starving, too weak to move, let alone invade. I watched as my children suffered getting by, fighting each other in desperate squabbles, and feasting on food that would never give them the love they really needed…and I just stayed cooped up in my throne room, ignorant to what was really going on.”

Shining already realized what was going on. “So that’s why you surrendered like that…if you didn’t, all of your drones would’ve died fighting a battle they already lost.”

It was then that Chrysalis lost it; she released all she had held back, as she bawled into her lap. “It was as if my biggest fear came to life! They were all going to die if I didn’t do anything! That poor drone looked at me with those blank eyes as he perished at my own feet!”

Shining Armor watched as the former Queen of the Changelings cried before him, all amount of pride thrown out as she started to stain her dress in the tears of her regret and sorrow. It was a sight that took him seconds to register, but once it did, it pained his heart to no end. Sitting right beside her, he draped his arm around her shoulder. Nothing happened as the two sat in silence, drowning in their own sorrows.

Minutes passed, until Chrysalis finally broke the silence. “I didn’t think the treaty would even work. I gave up my crown, my status, everything, in hopes that my children would survive. Now look at me, a pathetic cretin, unworthy of ruling anything. I’ve been called so many insults for my past actions…I don’t deserve any of this…especially not the friendship you or Cady gave me. I’m just some bug who deserves to get squashed.”

“Chrysalis, listen!” Shining exclaimed, getting her attention. “You can’t just say things like that! Your people knew what you had to do and they are grateful for the choice you made. Because of how you let go of your pride and hatred, you saved hundreds of lives and Equestria has one less enemy to worry about. Those Changelings you said you gave up on, they’re all living happy lives. I should know because I’ve seen them with ponies, making friends and being more than that.”

“Are…are they really happier now than before?”

Shining Armor nodded. “Yes…and then there’s Cadence and the others. You haven’t realized it, but you have so many new friends who forgave you for everything you’ve done…including me…”

Chrysalis wiped her tears away as she looked upon the eyes of the regal unicorn. “You’re my friend?”

“Of course I am.” He said, before standing up and bowing, extending his hand toward his partner. “We might’ve been enemies before, but if you give me a chance I’ll show how loved you really are.”

Chrysalis hesitantly looked at the hand, unknowing what kind of future awaited her. For so long, she suffered alone, afraid of hurting anypony else, but if this was finally the chance to get the happiness she longed for, what other choice did she have? Taking the hand, she stood up and hugged him. “Thank you…Prince Shining Armor.”

“You’re welcome, Chrysalis.” He finally said, as he led her down the path back to their table. “By the way, I was wondering, where did the whole ‘Cady’ name came from?”

“Ugh…that infernal nickname I accidently blurted out one time at the beach. Cadence forced me to say it so often that it turned into a habit.”

“Interesting, mind telling me more?”

“You know what, Armor, I think I can.”

---

“It was funny how they made quite the wreck on the beach that day. Still trying to figure out how the pink one with the poofy mane could build sandcastles that quickly.”

“Well, Twily always told me that it’s just Pinkie being Pinkie.”

“That pink one scares me. Was pretty serious about breaking this so-called “Pinkie Promise” back at Canterlot. I just hope she was kidding with those threats.”

The two chatted together peacefully as they ate their meals. The previous drama gone, now replaced with content. They’re chat led to each other learning new things between them; Shining certainly didn’t know Chrysalis’s love for theater. They were so wrapped up in their conversations that they didn’t notice their waitress coming toward them.

“So, is everything all good here?” She asked politely.

“No complaints here.”

“Everything seems to be satisfying.”

“Great, just great! Oh, by the by, um…Chrysalis, ma’am, if it’s alright…um, could I take a picture with you?”

Chrysalis looked at the waitress as if she grew a second head. “You… want a picture? With me?”

“Yeah, you did so much in Equestria. If it weren’t for you, I would have never met my fiancé Mesosoma. I just always wanted to thank you in person and take a picture so I could show him.”

“Well, look at that, Chrysalis, you got yourself a number one fan.”

Chrysalis smiled wide, as she nodded. “It appears so. Here, let me help you with that camera.”

After an hour, the two happily left the restaurant and a hearty tip to their waitress. They walked down the street, aimlessly continuing their conversations on whatever treated them. “So, Chrysalis, I’m still wondering about something.”

“Hopefully a question I can answer.”

“I just want you to be honest…do you have a crush on me?”

A beat of sweat fell down her forehead as the thought came to her, before she snickered. “That wife of yours just loves to play jokes on others, but it was true…when I first met you, I was rather enraptured by your looks, your charms, everything about you seemed to match my interests. Of course, I had a mission, and any sort of crush would jeopardize it. It’s a shame still. I wish I could meet a stallion like you, one who wouldn’t mind being with an insect like me.”

Shining felt a knot in his stomach. “Wow…I’m sorry to hear about that.”

“It's fine, I guess Cadence chose the right mate to spend her life with. Brave, honest, well-toned flank, loyal, maybe someday I’ll receive that same luxury.”

“Yeah…and can you two stop talking about my flank?” An idea crawled in his mind that made him giddy to show off. “Hey Chrysalis watch this.”

Before Chrysalis could react, Shining charged up the magic in his horn and shot a large bolt into the air. The magic scattered into the night sky, as each bolt danced their way to the stars, covering them all in a pinkish glow that illuminated throughout the Empire. “That’s a little trick I picked up years ago. I used it to impress Cadence for our Anniversary. What do you think?”

“It’s beautiful!” Chrysalis gasped, starring at awe into the skies. “It’s like a flower is blooming over and over in front of my eyes.” Her mouth widened into large smile as the prismatic bliss started to warm her heart. “I never imagined something so beautiful could exist.”

Shining smiled as he looked upon his own work. He was proud that one of his oldest tricks can still make those he cares about smile. Minutes passed and the light show before them started to slowly fade. “Well, that’s that, ready to head home?”

Chrysalis nodded, but remembered something. “Armor, do you think I’ll ever find true love?”

Shining wasn’t the one to answer questions like these, they were more of Cadence’s forte, but he truly knew the kind of person Chrysalis is now. She’s beautiful, smart, and nice when she can be, and now that the strife between Changelings and Ponies is over, she just wants to be loved just like any other mare in Equestria. “Yes…I know you will.”

“That is all I needed to hear…let’s head to the castle now.”

The two finally made it into the castle as the midnight hour was approaching. Many of the castle employees were already asleep, and Shining hoped the same could be said for his wife and daughter. Inside, the two made their way toward the guest room reserved for Chrysalis. “Well, here you go, all yours.”

Chrysalis raised an eyebrow at what she saw. In the room was a standard bed, nightstand, and dresser, but on that nightstand was a wine bottle, two glass cups…and a box of condoms. “It seems somepony is trying to send a message.”

Shining looked into the room and stood there slack-jawed. Before he could say anything, he noticed a small note on the door and opened it:

“Have Fun!”

-Love, Cadence ;)

“Dammit! Why is my wife always trying to get me laid by other mares!?” Shining Armor annoyingly grumbled.

“Uh…Shining I know your loyalty to Cady is unbreakable and I certainly don’t want to intrude, so if you don’t want to do this, it’s perfectly okay.”

Taking a deep breath, before letting out a long sigh, Shining Armor conceded. “No, Chrysalis, it's fine…you’re fine.”

Chrysalis started to blush as she saw Shining look deep into her eyes, the space between them suddenly shrinking. She couldn’t help but see herself get pulled in by those eyes she loved so much, as she grabbed one of his soft hands and stand there, mesmerized. “I don’t want to see you get hurt because of me…”

Shining only responded by bringing his hand to her chin. “Don’t worry, it’s going to be alright.”

Silence filled the air as the two slowly came together for a kiss. They held onto each other as they tasted the succulent flavors they were dying to share. Chrysalis moaned softly as she felt Shining’s muscular hands grab her waist and pull her closer. They separated after a minute to catch their breath.

Breathing heavily, Chrysalis gave him a sultry glance. “Well, that was fun. Mind if we do that again?”

Shining didn’t respond with words, as he turned her around and gave her a kiss to the neck. Chrysalis shuddered that her more sensitive part was given attention. She rubbed her hands against her body, the heat of the moment getting to her. She could feel his hot breath touch her skin.

Without even thinking, Shining unzipped her dress methodically and took it off to reveal her bare back and black panties. He licked his lips as

Chrysalis laid atop her bed and gave him a full view of herself splayed before him. “You look more beautiful than I ever thought possible.”

Chrysalis beckoned him with her finger, to which he loyally did so. Leaning down, he directed himself to her right breast and he gave it a nice squeeze with his lips. She sucked in her breath as he teased her nipple with his mouth and the other with his fingers. The love she was feeling felt intoxicating, the need for more filling her mind. “Oh Shiny, give me what I want. Please, give me what I need.”

Shining smiled deviously as his blood boiled to serve his queen. He used his free hand to reach down and slide into her panties. Now, along with her breasts, he was giving Chrysalis’s marehood a good rub, as he slipped his finger right in. He went to work pumping his finger in and out, moving it around decisively. The motions enticed a series of moans, until she screamed a heavenly scream.

Shining licked his lips as he took his now moist fingers and gave them a few licks taking in her sweet flavor. “How does my actions please you, my queen?”

Chrysalis panted softly, as she gave out a hungry glare. “Your queen still wants more, take your clothes off.” Her horn glowed bright, as Shining Armor suddenly felt his position change and all of his clothes suddenly appeared on the floor. He now sat on the bed with his large stiff member hanging out.

“That’s much better.” Chrysalis stepped closer, as she got to her knees and grabbed his member. She rubbed it up and down, her fingers dancing around, making Shining groan in pleasure. “I must say, it’s much larger than a thought, maybe that’s why you were made Captain of the Royal Guards.” Chrysalis giggled and gave the shaft a slow, long lick along the underside. “Time to see how much love you have to offer me.”

Chrysalis opened her maw and wrapped it around her prize, which filled it quite nicely, being a couple inches thick. Her head bobbed while her long, forked tongue wrapped around the flared tip like a tasty lollipop. She hummed in her mouth, causing the dick to vibrate, as she played with it some more.

Shining sighed placing his hand on her head, making her go deeper. The soft, yet firm, pleasure he was receiving was unlike any he felt before, the queen having her own unique take. After minutes, he felt the pressure build up in his groin, knowing what was about to happen next.

“Oh…C-Chrysalis… I’m gonna cum soon!”

Chrysalis let out a venomous laugh as she squeezed harder. “I know…and I want it all!” She continued to suck down on his dick, pumping it with her fingers and even giving his balls a good fondle. She kept going until she heard hard moans coming from the prince, which finally resulted in Shining spewing his load. The white, hot, sticky liquid flowed seamlessly, forcing her to have to constantly swallow it down, lest her cheeks overflow with it and allow it to leak out, letting the precious cum go to waste. Despite nearly choking from the lack of air from the constant swallowing, Chrysalis found herself unable to resist pressing on, the taste too delicious to resist.

After a few more pumps of cum, it finally subsided, giving Armor the break he waited for. “Oh goddess above, Chrysalis…that was incredible.”

“Mmh…and tasty.” Chrysalis said licking the last strands cum off his prick. She relished in the true, genuine love she now had. Never had she felt the true love of another who would willingly give it to her. It tasted sweeter than that of which she stole from horny stallions, and now she was ready for a second helping. “How about you lie down, your services are needed elsewhere.”

Shining obeyed, as he propped himself up on the bed’s pillows. His thoughts then shifted to something else. “Wait, Chrysalis, what about…y’know.”

Chrysalis only laughed. “Oh, don’t worry about any problems afterwards. I already took care of it.” She said with a wink. “Let’s just get to the main act.”

Chrysalis slowly lowered herself right down onto his erect member. It took some effort, as his thick tip pressed against her virgin-tight pussy, but as the pressure against her lower lips increased, they finally gave in, and Chrysalis found herself gasping sharply in a mix of pain and pleasure, having taken a few inches of stallion cock into her within a brief moment. Each new inch made her wince and moan, especially when she managed to get past his equine ridge, until she finally reached the bottom, her large, plush ass resting against his still pent-up balls. Being balls deep on his two foot long shaft, they both admired how it bulged her tummy out with its shape. With an evil snicker, she started to bounce up and down, squelching sounds resonating from her pussy. Her palms resting on her breasts and her eyes locked on the utter desire Shining’s face portrayed.

Chrysalis gave a toothy grin. “Oh, Armor…you know how to treat a queen. Filling me up with all that thick, sweet, succulent love. Yes…I want you to hold nothing back, make my pussy yours like your life depends on it, and rut me like the bitch in heat I am!”

Suddenly Shining gathered all his strength as he flipped her over, still connected. Chrysalis suddenly found herself on her back, her surprised look now turning ecstatic as he saw the pure lust in his eyes. “Aaaw…poor boy. You want some more?”

Shining only responded by thrusting hard and fast into his queen. He grunted again and again, the need for more taking over any other instinct. Like a mindless machine, he thought about nothing else, as he pulled her in and pushed her out, gripping her by the waist forcefully giving her all his love, the phallus-shaped bulge from her belly rising and falling with every thrust. What was only minutes felt like hours as the two made a wet mess of each other, repeatedly making the bed violently creak. Finally, Shining felt the pressure build up once more, making
him double his efforts. “Chrysalis…I’m gonna cum again!”

“I can feel it Armor, all of that hot love can feed a changeling for a fortnight! Give me everything, all of your love! Please Show your queen how much you love her and GIVE ME ALL OF YOUR LOVE!”

Finally, after a long fucking, Shining unleashed his entire load entire load into Chrysalis’s wet, wanting womb, filling her up just as she asked.

All of his “love” filling her up and even spilling out onto the bed sheets. More spurts of cum filled her insides, more so than what spilled out around his cock, gradually swelling her to the point where she looked like Cadence before birthing Flurry Heart, hiding the bulge the meaty pole inside her once made. Afterward, during the afterglow of their blissful embrace, Shining Armor sighed in both relief and exhaustion.

“There…you go…all the love…you want.”

Chrysalis panted heavily as she laid flat on the bed, her arms splayed out. “Yes…I think that’s more than enough, for now.” She used the last of her strength to extend her arms. “Now cuddle me…please.”

Shining happily obeyed as he laid next to her and wrapped his arms around her, his now soft member grazing her leg. “There…you feel better?”

“All thanks to you Prince.” She said as she shuffled into a more comfortable position, her horn glowing softly and holding her lower lips watertight, wanting to savor the full feeling a bit longer. She happily purred. “Thank you, Shining Armor…I really needed the love you shared. I now have hope for the future and it’s all because of you.”

“Heh…anything for you Chrysalis. I may be married, but that doesn’t mean what I say is anything less than true. I love you, Chrysalis, and you will always feel loved when you’re around us. Never forget that.”

Chrysalis felt a small tear pass down her cheeks as she hummed sweetly. “That’s all I ever wanted…thank you…”

The two finally fell into unconsciousness, resting easy after a long day, the two unlikely of pairs sharing the love they now have.

In the morning Shining’s head felt like it was spinning, he was feeling a little dizzy. He looked around to see that Chrysalis was nowhere to be seen. “Must’ve gone off somewhere before I woke up. Damn, wish I had something for this headache.”

“Here try this.”

He looked to see Chrysalis come in wearing a pink bathrobe. She held two coffee mugs and handed one to him. “Oh, thanks, been meaning to have something like this.”

“I simply thought it would be sweet to bring you a nice drink to relieve any stress you might have. Just think of it as my way of thanking you for last night.”

“Heh…you’re welcome.” Shining said as he sipped his coffee. The two sat quietly on the bed, light radiating through the windows alighting the room. Shining took a moment to look upon Chrysalis, seeing the calm and collected way she drinks, noticing how untroubled she now is after the events of last night. He also noticed the holes that covered her arms and legs now sealed and her overall appearance looking more docile. “You look much better. Did you sleep well?”

Chrysalis gave a content chuckle. “I did more than sleep well Armor. Last night was simply fantastic, all that love made me feel so alive. I’m ready to see the world now with Cady and the others, I want to spend time with those I can now call my friends. Of course only if you’re willing to help me out.”

“I think I can help you out, after all that’s what friends are for.”

After saying this, the two ponies heard a knock at the door, before seeing Cadence peek her head in with a grin. “Good job you two. I’m so proud of you both.”

“C-Cadence?” Shining said surprised. “What are you doing here?”

With a rather childlike chuckle she entered the room wearing nothing but a see-through “Well I do live here too. I’m just here to check on the two of you. So tell me Chrissy, was he as good as you imagined?”

“And so much more. Honestly I’m a bit jealous, his hands feels like magic. And the way he fills you up with all of that love is so intoxicating!”

“You don’t know the half of it. I bet he pushed you down on the bed and talked dirty to you as he forcefully thrusted into you without letting up.”

“Ohh yes!” Chrysalis moan feeling the heat rise in her own body.

“Uhh…yeah sure. I’m glad to serve the both of you. Hey if we’re done here maybe we could all hang out and go out for lunch right?”

The two girls looked at each other with half-lidded eyes, giggling together as they looked back at Shining Armor. “Oh Prince, that sounds like a grand idea. But it’s still morning, why don’t we spend some more time together?”

He immediately caught on to what the two were talking about and gave a small smirk of his own. He didn’t want to admit it, but he loved where this was going. “I guess we have some time to kill, any ideas ladies?”

“Well I think I want to see how you serve your Princess as well as you served your Queen.” Cadence used her magic to close and lock the door, she started to stroke Shining’s dick as Chrysalis went up and began to make out with him.

Cadence gave a lusty smile. “Ready for a threesome, Shiny?”
