When you go to school, you expect to be bored. Not at Canterlot High. I have to survive through crazy creatures, magical students, an evil spirit, and a relationship. All by graduation. Well, wish me luck.

When I go to a new school, I always go through the same routine. But Canterlot High is way different. I have never had the same experience at any other school. Now I have to survive magical creatures, friends with powers, an evil spirit, and a relationship. All by graduation.

This story is not connected to any of my other stories. This will be ongoing for as long as I want.

Surviving the Local Bully

View Online

"Get back here, Golden Rise!" yelled an angry Sunset.

I ran down the hall as the students hid in fear from the enraged Sunset. Your probably wondering how I got in this situation. Let's just say you do not make the local bully angry. And make sure not to trip while carrying your lunch. A few of the students heard about what happened, so I received a few high fives on my run. I just rounded a corner, and started running towards the exit. "Almost home free." I just got past the threshold to the foryer, when I was tripped. I rolled across the ground, and landed just a foot from the exit. "That could've gone better."

I saw Snips and Snails step out of a classroom. Sunset had finally caught up to me. She grabbed my shirt and pulled me up. "Do you have anything to say for yourself?"

"Listen, I'm new here. I can tell your angry at me for the accident, and I apologized about five minutes ago. So this can just be all water under the bridge." I looked at the clock and smiled.

"What is with that stupid grin of yours?" asked Sunset.

"I may be new here, but I know the bell schedule." The bell rang, and a mob of students entered the room. I was able to slip away into the crowd. I hid among the students and saw Sunset looking around in frustration.

I could tell Sunset figured it out when she yelled, "GOLDEN RISE!"

I smiled to myself and got to my locker. "Another run in with Sunset?" I turned to see my friend Flash Century.

"Yeah, I don't know how you were able to take her for so long. She's determined, I'll give her that."

"I can agree with that, so how are other things going?"

"Good. Class is class and social life is good." I got out my new books and shut the door. "I better get going, got to get to class before Sunset. See ya."

"Catch ya later, Gold," said Flash.

I made my way through the crowd, and got to my science class. I sat down next to my lab partner. She removed her headphones and gave me a smile. "Hey dude, what's up?" she asked.

"Just finished running from Sunset, Vinyl. Got my cardio in for the day." I set my books on top of my desk.

"Yeah, I heard. Your lucky you escaped. What you did was actually major. I'm sure you heard what she did to Rarity?" Vinyl shuddered at the memory.

I shuddered. "I not only heard, but I was able to delete those photos and help her. Luckily she came to my computer shop. I still fell bad for her. She kept saying the pictures made her look like a pig." Rarity had just walked in. "Speaking of her."

Rarity saw me, smiled, and walked over. "Hello Gold, darling. How are you?"

"Good all around. Just finished running from Sunset."

"You know, I could still-"

"No Rarity. I am not wearing a camouflage outfit."

"Aw. I've always wanted to try something like that." Rarity then perked up. "I'm just glad your ok. Not everyone has the same luck as you when it comes to running from Sunset."

"I know, but it's still difficult. Especially with Snips and Snails at her beckon call." The bell had runs for the start of class. Everyone else took their seat.

The teacher was a man with tan skin and brown hair, and he wore a brown coat with a dress shirt and tie underneath. All he had on the board for his name was Doctor. "Ok class. Today we will start discussion on Balancing Chemical Formulas." The class drew on as the lesson was being explained. After about an hour, the final bell rang. Everyone gathered their stuff and walked out.

"See ya at the music store?" asked Vinyl.

"Of coarse. I'll send you a text when I'm on my way." We exchanged goodbyes and went off. I got my stuff into the bag and started walking towards the exit. Then I got grabbed. I was pulled into an empty classroom, and the door was slammed shut. "We have to stop meeting like this."

Sunset grabbed my arm and pushed me against a wall. "Your gonna pay for what you did. Your not getting away this time." Her voice was darker then before.

"What's going on?" I then heard a dark voice.

Eliminate this problem now. He stands in your way.

The voice sounded really crazy. "Gotta get out of here." I began using my strength to push my arm back down. "Just got to push harder." I freed my arm and twisted around. Sunset went for another grab, but I got her hand. "I don't think so."

He's not worth the trouble. Leave now!

Sunset sprinted out of the room. I rubbed my arm. "That's the first physical attack. I now have to watch myself." I grabbed my bag and walked out.

----------------

Sunset ran into the library and clutched her head. "What's going on?"

Your second encounter was not ideal. Next time, he won't be so lucky.
You will follow my orders Sunset. Go to Equestria and get the Element of Magic.
With its power we will rule the world.

"Yes master." A giant shadow replaced Sunset's shadow. She walked out of the school, walked up to the Canterlot High horse statue, and walked through the hidden portal.

New Girl and Proposition

View Online

Same old, same old. Running from the bully, hanging out with friends, and just surviving a normal day. That's until someone new comes into school. I was talking with Flash when a girl with purple skin and dark purple hair bumped into him. She was acting a little strange. When Flash offered her a hand, she had a fist and then slowly release it. When she got up, she was wobbly on her feet. "Thanks." She looked around her like the place was another world. She walked off after that.

I closed my locker and smiled. "Smooth move casanova."

"Shut up man. It looked like she was trying to get somewhere." Flash closed his locker. "See you later, Gold. Maybe you'll run into that new girl."

"Yeah, but the ladies don't throw themselves all over me." I started running when Flash began throwing pencils as me. "That's was still weird. It was like she never saw people before." I pulled out my phone and looked through my messages. There were a few from Rarity.

Rarity: Hello darling. Do you think we can talk about something by the statue?

Me: Sure. I'll meet you after school.

I put my phone away and turned down another hallway. I saw Normal Norman hiding in a locker, Fluttershy in a corner, and the new girl standing against Sunset. "Better diffuse this situation." I walked out so the others could see me. "That's enough Shimmer."

Sunset moved her head so she could see me. She scoffed. "Fine, hero boy." She turned back to the new girl. "This isn't over Twilight Sparkle." She stormed off after that.

"Well that was that." I helped Fluttershy stand back up, and pulled Norman out of his locker. I turned to the new girl. "I don't think we formally met. I'm Golden Rise, and I think I got your name from Sunset."

"Its nice to meet you Gold," she said with a smile.

I turned to the other two. "Flutters, Norm, you two ok?"

"Were fine," said Norman. "Thanks for the save."

"No problem. Just glad I was here to stop an attack." I rubbed my arm. After the incident, I went to class and waited for the end of the day.

When classes ended, I gathered my books and packed up for the day. I walked outside and looked around, but didn't see Rarity. I saw most of the students move away from the statue. "That's odd. What's making them do that?"

I got my answer when Sunset walked towards me. "Hello Rise."

"What are you doing here Shimmer?"

"I'm just here to see if you want to join me?"

"That will be the day I sprout wings and fly. There's nothing you can do to me to use me." I started walking away.

"What about protecting the girls?" Sunset held up her phone.

"What do you mean?" Her comment got my attention.

"I have some pictures and information that will make a certain group of girls very upset."

"You wouldn't."

"What's stopping me? All I have to do is press upload and it will all be out there."

"Nice try. I can easily delete them before most of the school sees."

"But can you get rid of hundreds of copies." My expression said it all. "Just as I thought. Now here's what I want you to do. When Rarity ask you to go to the Fall Formal with her, you say no. No excuses or reasoning. Just say no to her. Got it?"

I thought over my two options. If I broke Rarity' s heart, I may lose all my friends. But if I don't, then my friends will most likely become humiliated. I was apparently taking to long, because Sunset shoved the upload screen with the folders in my face. I sighed with defeat. "Fine. I'll keep my end of the deal, as long as you delete those files after I do."

"I can do that." We shook hands and went our separate ways.

"May my soul be pure after this." I waited outside and Rarity came walking out. She smiled and ran over. "She never runs for anything."

"Hello Gold. I'm glad you could make it." She started twirling her hair.

'She's really nervous. But why would she. It's not like I'm special.'

"I was wondering if you would like to accompany me to the dance?" She had the most pleading eyes.

I looked up and saw Sunset with her finger over the upload button. I took in a sharp breath, and did what I had to do. "No, Rarity."

"What do you mean, darling?"

Sunset kept the threat up. "I can't say why. But the answer is no Rarity."

I could see her heart break just like mine. "I should've known," she said coldly. "I knew you couldn't be trusted. I thought you were against Sunset, but you were working for her." I could say nothing. "Well goodbye Rise." She walked off with her head low.

Sunset walked up to me with a smile. "Good boy, but for extra precaution, I will keep the files. Well enjoy yourself." She bumped into me as she walked away.

"That was your mistake." I pulled out Sunset's phone and smiled. "Let's fix this." I took out a paper and wrought a small note. "This note will be explain everything." I walked back into the school, and dropped the note and phone into Rarity' s locker. "Hope she believes me."

Dance with Destiny

I woke up with a splitting headache. The events of the last two days came crashing down on me. I was a complete mess. I decided to get up and find something comforting. I walked over to an old chest from my parents. I opened the chest and pulled out the last present they ever gave me. It was a gold compass with the family insignia on it. "At least I have some connection to the past." When I held the compass, it began to glow. "That's new."

The compass flew out of my hand. The glow began to form into a being. The being was a guy in full gold armor. "Hello Golden Rise."

"Who are you?"

"I am the wielder of light, the protecter of all that is good. I am the Divine Master."

"Ok, why are you here?"

"I'm here to help you realize your destiny." Divine lifted his hand, and the room faded from existence. The surrounding space was filled with a path made of light. "Your first test. Escape your fears." A shadowy figure appeared behind Gold. "I would act fast."

I began sprinting down the path. "How is this my fear? I'm not afraid of the dark."

"Its not the dark your afraid of." The shadowy figure got even closer.

"Then what do I fear the most?" The shadow moved even closer and got one of my legs. I tripped and the shadow engulfed me. "It's cold and empty." Then I realized what my true fear was. "I'm afraid of being alone. I don't want to lose anybody else. And I won't. As long as I stay strong my friends will stay strong."

The Shadow gave a small bow and disappeared. "Very good. You have conquered your fear. Now to more important manners." Divine sent a bit of energy to me. "I will teach you how to use your powers. First off is summoning weapons. All you have to do is think of the weapon and it will come to you."

"Ok, let me try." I closed my eyes and started thinking of a classic long sword. I then felt a weight in my hands. I opened my eyes and saw a sword with a golden hilt.

"Very good. Now if you want to dismiss your weapon, just stop focusing."

I stopped thinking of the sword and it left my hand. "Now that's cool."

"I can already tell that you have fighting experience so you don't need to learn that. I will be able to help you more when you return to this place."

"How do I get back here?"

"You will know when the time comes. For now I suggest you get to the school. Your friends are in danger."

The world returned to the way it was, but the moon was out now. "That realm must have a different time system then my own. Can't focus on that, got to get to the school." I ran out the door, then I remembered something. "Still in my sleep clothes." I got changed and ran to the school. When I arrived, I saw the girls, Twilight, Sunset, Snips and Snails by the statue. Sunset held out a sledge hammer, and was threatening to smash the podium. "Not on my watch." I summoned some rope and got in postion.

"Time to decide Twilight. Here or Equestria?" Sunset readied her hammer.

"I don't think so." I stepped out and threw the rope at the hammer. I was able to pull it away with one tug.

"Why are you here?" said an angered Sunset.

"A little birdie told me that my friends were in danger." I looked to the girls and saw that they had smiles. "And my plan to fix things worked."

"So your the one that took my phone!"

"Yeah, and we have it." Rainbow brought out the phone.

Sunset laughed. "No matter, the crown will still be mine." Sunset tackled Twilight and the crown went flying. A game of keep away began. The crown was thrown from person to person. When it finally landed in Twilight's hands, Snails ran towards her and she threw it behind her. Sunset was the only person behind Twilight. "Finally all the power I could ever want." Sunset was about to place the crown on her head.

I saw her shadow change dramatically. 'Something' s not right. That shadow is no normal shadow.' I charged up some energy in my hand, and fired it at the shadow. When the blast hit, the shadow was sent flying into the wall, and Sunset let the crown fall.

"My head. What happened?" She looked around and saw where she was. "Why am I in front of the school?"

"Ok, what just happened?" asked Rainbow.

"Sunset wasn't in control of her actions." I looked to see the shadowy being stand up. "That shadow was."

The figure let out an angry growl. "You have messed with my plans for the last time Golden Rise. It's time for you to fall." The figure wrapped Sunset and the crown in its shadowy grip. "Say hello to my new puppet." The crown was forcefully put on Sunset's head. She was then surrounded by green flames, and the shadow wrapped itself in the flames. The flames disappeared, and a new figure stood before us. "Welcome, Demon-set!"

"Finally, I have true power," said Demon-set.

"Looks like that shadow isn't backing down easily." I saw the Shadow off to the side, watching what was happening. "Think you girls can handle Demon-set while I go for Shadow?"

"We sure can," said Twilight.

I nodded and ran towards the shadow. I summoned a bow, and surprised him with an onslaught of arrows. "Time to bring the light."

"You have no idea who your messing with boy." The figure blasted me with some dark magic. I summoned a shield to block it. "I am the darkest part of all. I am the fears that you will never get rid of. I am nightmares at their purist. I am Tenebris!"

"Your name may mean darkness, but you are nothing more than a shadow. You can't exist without someone being your puppet." I summoned a sword and charged forward.

Tenebris blocked my attack with a swipe of his arm. "You may speak the truth, but you cannot see the future." He raised his arms up and brought them down on me. I barely had my shield up when the attack hit. "Your nothing more then a bug I have to squash." He grabbed me and then threw me way off.

I summoned a shield and rolled into the fall. When I got to my senses, I was in front of a coffee shop. Tenebris appeared in front of me. "You may be stronger then me, but I have hope and light within me. That's something you'll never have." I felt a surge of energy behind me. I looked towards the school and saw a pillar of rainbow light shoot up into the sky. "And your puppet has had its strings cut."

"Nooo!" Tenebris charged up a powerful blast and fired. I summoned my shield again, and held it against the blast. "Darkness will always triumph over light. I cover your energy no matter what."

"All your saying is lies. Light pushes back the darkness."

"Oh really. Is that what happened with your parents?"

"What?!?" My shield fell and I was hit full force with his dark blast. I was sent flying back into a streetlight.

My vision was blurry and my hearing was muffled. I could barely see Tenebris kneel down to my level. "I will be back with more help." He gave a dark chuckle as he faded away. I heard the sirens coming towards me. I finally blacked out when I felt myself being lifted up onto a stretcher.

The Truth Will Set You Free

I pushed myself off of the floor. The room around me was white and unnaturally sterile. "Where am I? I don't remember coming here. I was on my way to the hospital."

"No need to worry Gold," said a female voice.

"Who said that? How do you know my name?"

"We have been watching you for awhile. You see our origination is known as Glow."

"What does Glow mean?"

"Glow stands for Guardian Lights Of the World. We are a group that tries to ensure peace around the world."

"Well your not very good at your job. There are wars all over the world."

"That is why we are trying to recruit people of your 'particular' skill set. Your powers have great potential, and with the right training it could grow." The voice cut out. I could hear muffled voices. "Sorry about that tiny interruption. I just got word of a dark magical attack from your school. And that brings me to why you are here. We believe that all of this violence is caused by Dark magic. We want you to eliminate all those that possess dark magic. Wether they had it at one time or have it now, it doesn't matter." A panel opened on the wall. A small table extended out. There was an ear piece and a syringe. "On the table is a hidden ear piece and a syringe. If you choose to join us, you can put on the ear piece and inject the tracor into your arm. So what do you choose?"

The Decision

I paced around the room, just... thinking. What do they really have planned for me? "What to do?" A bright light engulfed the room.

Divine Master appeared before me. "I sensed that you are quite troubled."

"This group barely gave me any information. I don't know what they want me to do."

"Well, why don't you get some?"

"I tried talking to them, but the intercom was turned off."

"Then just be a spy. Join their ranks and get the information you need. And do not hurt anyone."

"Got it." Divine Master disappeared. I went up and grabbed the syringe and ear piece. "Here goes nothing." I stuck the syringe in my arm. After I pressed the plunger, my vision blurred. I tried to support myself with the stand, but it retreated back into the wall. I fell to my hands and knees as the world grew darker. My arms gave out and the world disappeared.

12 hours later...

I gave a grunt as I returned to the world. I felt the warmth of sheets. I opened my eyes, but got blinded by the light. I closed my eyes and covered my face.

"Oh, he's awake," said a voice next to me. I could here the accent, but I also heard some sadness. Then I realized, it was Rarity. "Gold, darling?"

I opened my eyes and blinked a few times to clear the right. When my vision returned to normal, I was able to see who was in the room. I saw all my friends with relieved looks on their faces. Rarity was sitting by my bedside. I saw mascara lines on her face, and black tissues in the trash can.

"Hey Rare." I pushed myself up into a sitting position.

Rarity immediately wrapped me in a hug. "I'm so glad your okay."

"You and me both."

AJ began to move everyone else out. "We'll give you two some privacy." The others went out into the hall and shut the door.

"How are you Gold?"

"Still hurting a bit. That tree did a number on my back."

Rarity wiped away a few tears. "Its just, after we finished saving Sunset, we didn't know where you were. Then Celestia told us you were in the hospital. And..." Rarity rubbed away more tears. "I'm just glad I could still be with you." Rarity rested her head on my shoulder. "But there is one thing I want to know, where did you get your powers from?"

"I don't know. They just started to appear. It was about the same time Sunset completely lost it."

"Oh, ok."

"Something wrong Rarity?"

"Nothing darling." She gave me a smile.

I didn't want to pursue the subject. I let it drop as the room fell silent.

Rarity returned home after she left the hospital. She closed her door and slid down with a releaved smile on her face. A bright light entered her room and a female in white armor appeared before her. "Radience? What are you doing here?"

"I was talking with Divine Master. He said Gold was in trouble."

"What do you mean? And who is this Divine Master?"

"Maybe it's time you learned the truth about what happened millennia ago..."

Long ago there was a group known as the Spiritual Guardians. They controlled the elements of the world, and people worshipped them as gods. There were two guardian's for each element. Divine Master and Radiance watched over the sky and heavens. Divine brought light to the world, while Radience gave the humans clear skies and the blue heavens. Shadewing and Midnight watched over the night and the darkness. Shadewing brought the humans peaceful dreams, and Midnight banished the darkness away from homes. Then there was Quake and Serine. Quack formed the mountains and valleys, and Serine formed the oceans and rivers. Finally there was Jolly and Floral. Jolly brought joy to people while floral created plants for them. It was a peaceful time, no fighting, no wars, no problems.

That was until a spiritualist grew tired of the Guardians. He thought that they were poisoning the world that the humans worked so hard to create. So he decided to do something drastic. He performed a ritual that caused an ancient evil to be released. The spiritualist thought he could control the beast, but he was used as food by the creature. It destroyed civilization in a matter of hours.

The Guardians knew that the only way of saving all the humans was to seal away the dark beast. They combined their powers, and successfully sealed away the beast. But the Guardians used the last of their life force to do so, and sealed themselves away to heal. The only time they would ever return, would be when Tenebris escapes the seal.

Rarity listened to Radiance's tale. "So that creature that we saw..."

"Was Tenebris." Radiance gave a solemn expression. "So the other Guardians won't be far behind. I must warn them, and they need to find their human warriors." Radiance opened up a portal into a beautiful blue sky.

"How do we tie into this?" asked Rarity.

"You will learn in time." She stepped through the portal and disappeared. Rarity sat down on her bed and tried to take everything in.

My ear piece began to crackle to life. "I see your doing well," said the same voice from before.

I pressed a button on my ear piece. "Let's get on with this."

"I'm doing good, thanks for asking," said their voice sounding annoyed. There was some clicking on the other side of the line. "Here is your first mission. Good luck." The line cut out.

I pulled out my phone and saw a new message. I opened it up:

New Mission

Objective: Search and Destroy

Target Armed: Dark Magic

Magic Level: Weak

"Seems simple enough. Let's see who the unlucky target is." I scrolled to the bottom of the message and found the target, and dropped my phone.
