Chapter 1: A Gateway to a New World

Mel stepped out into the golden sunlight of Upper Michigan. The small town had become ruins in the time Mel had been alseep in the relaxation vault.

"How long have I been asleep?" wondered Mel.

She took another step onto the grassy and cracked concrete of the aged sidewalks. But far down below, where Mel had just left, the old Portal Gun Mel had incinerated had become unstable. This was a prototype of the ASHPD, back when Cave Johnson was working on it in the 1970s. The black hole had been released and destabalized, opening a small rift in two different universes. A large blue portal opening just below the town where Mel was standing. Up above, the ground began to rumble deep under Mel.

"Was the facility powering down?" asked Mel to herself.

But this couldn't have been a simple shut down from below, and earthquakes weren't common in the region of Michigan. The whole city becan to sink into the portal below. But Mel knew this wasn't anything ordinary, seeing the blue ring starting to rise around the town. But when the ring touched her feet, she felt like her feet were burning and beeing mended into a different shape. She rappidly searched for higher ground. She began to rapidly climb the Aperture Science Innovators statue near by in hopes of being able to escape. But she had no Portal Gun, no gels, and worst of all...no Virgil.

Virgil had been her greatest friend in the quest to get out of the facility. She wondered what he was doing now. But it was too late to try and escape, once the blue ring had touched her back, her spine gave a sharp pain, and then she blacked out.

Chapter 2: The Re-awakening

Out in froggy bottom bog, Fluttershy was helping to migrate all of the frogs out to the bog. She was just about ready to leave when she saw a large, round sort of mossy pebble falling from the sky. Fluttershy gently dropped her cart down onto the ground before trying to catch the pebble. She didn't want to upset any of the frog's eggs from hatching into tadpoles. But as the pebble kept on coming downward, she noticed that the pebble was turning into a more medium sized rock, and then a boulder. Fluttershy's eyes widened while quickly gathering as many frogs and tadpoles as she could before the large boulder could crash into the swamp.

Fluttershy then ducked for cover as the small town-sized rock crashed into the swamp with great force. Luckily neither Fluttershy nor her frogs and tadpoles were hurt. But before relocationg the frogs and tadpoles, Fluttershy heard a weird groaning sound, like somepony was hurt. Fluttershy carefully flaced down the animals and went into the small cavern. She looked around at the strange torn-up structures that lay ontop.

"A-anypony there?" quivered Fluttershy.

Mel got up, opening her eyes wearily, trying to get back up to her feet. But she couldn't feel her fingers or toes. Mel wobbled over and got onto all fours. When she looked at her hands, if you could still call them hands, Mel screamed loudly. Fluttershy covered her ears with great pressure trying to block out the scream.

"E-excuse me miss?" asked Fluttershy.

Mel saw Fluttershy and quickly backed up onto the side of the Aperture Science Innovators statue.

"D-don't be scared, I'm just trying to help." said Fluttershy nervously.

"W-who are you? W-where am I?" asked Mel.

"I-I'm Fluttershy...y-you're in Froggy Bottom Bog. You crashed down here into the swamp with this small cave." Fluttershy replied silently.

"Okay...my name's Mel. Short for Melanie.

"Okay, well it's nice to meet you Mel. Are you okay? You're very scared."

"Uhm...I'm just really tired and hungry...but other than that I'm fine. Is there any towns or cities nearby?"

"There's Ponyville, but that's kind of a far trot from here. But I'm sure it's a good five minute flight back"

"Huh?"

Mel had never heard of such flight. Planes were still in development back in 1952, but they were really small. Mel noticed that the yellow pegasus named "Fluttershy" had wings, did she have similar wings like them? Mel turned her head to see a beige coat, a pair of wings, and a long redish-brown tail flowing behind her. She didn't have anything on her flank like Fluttershy had her butterflies. This was new for Mel, but then again so was being trapped in an old facility for thousands of years while your only friend is a robotic sphere, or "core" as Virgil called it.

Mel looked back up at Fluttershy, then she looked back at her wings. She seemed to be able to move them on her own just by thinking she could move them. It's like she had a few new arms on her back. They just had feathers and could help her fly.

"Y-yeah..." said Mel slightly nervous about her new apendages.

"Is everything okay?" asked Fluttershy worryingly.

"I-I'm just kinda...new to this." replied Mel.

"I think we should go to town, there's more ponies who can help there. I-if that's okay with you..." said Fluttershy.

Fluttershy then placed the cart on her back again and started to take off. Mel tried to follow behind, but flying was a whole new thing for her. Mel wobbled in the air for a few moments before getting a steady pace while flying. Ponyville was a small town, like something you'd see in Norway. The houses were made mostly of wood and were a tanish color with brown outlines in the more outer structure of the houses. But when Fluttershy began to land, Mel had no idea what she was doing. She tried to land, but instead she toppled overwards into a somersault while planting her face into the ground. But after hitting her head on the ground she toppled over and landed onto her hooves. Luckily those old long fall boots were still in proper function.

Fluttershy was just watching in aghast after Mel had preformed her little "stunt".

"A-are you okay?" asked Fluttershy.

"Yeah, just a little bruised, but I'll be fine." replied Mel brushing the chunks of dirt off of her.

"What're those things on your legs? I-if you don't mind me asking." stammered Fluttershy pointing and the old Aperture Long Fall Boots.

They had seemed to have changed with her, fitting onto her hind hoovesquite nicely. But this didn't really concern Mel.

"Oh, they're just a sort of thing to protect my back legs." replied Mel, shaking her wings to get out all of the gunk in them.

"Incoming!" yelled a raspy voice from out of nowhere.

Before Fluttershy could reply, mare with a rainbow mane came crashing head first into Mel. Mel was pushed backwards into the dirt, still on her hooves, but the mare had bounced right off of her like a tennis ball to cement. The mare got up and wildly shoke all the dirt off of herself.

"Whoa! That. Was. AWESOME!" yelled the mare.

Mel covered her ears in slight pain.

"Oh, sorry. I was just practicing a few tricks and I sorta, kinda, lost control. My name's Rainbow Dash by the way, what's yours?" asked rainbow.

"Mel, nice to meet you. I'm kinda looking for some help around this place." replied Mel looking around at her suroundings more than Rainbow Dash.

"You're new around these parts, huh. Pinkie Pie is gonna be pretty happy to see you. She greets every new pony with a party." said Rainbow Dash scratching the back of her mane.

'Yeah, but I was hoping if you could-" said Mel before being cut off by Rainbow Dash.

"Woah, you don't have a cutie mark? That's something you don't see everyday." said rainbow Dash.

"Rainbow! Don't be rude to Mel, she's new here and very confused." said Fluttershy trying to stop Rainbow from worrying Mel any further.

"I-It's okay." stammered Mel.

"I'm sorry, but I think you should see our friend twilight. She's good with new ponies and can most likely help you." said Rainbow Dsh.

"Sounds good...but where're we going?" asked Mel.

Rainbow pointed to a castle in the distance from where they were standing. Mel's eyes widened at the sight of the large castle standing out from the rest of Ponyville. This was going to be a long day.

Chapter 3: A chat with some tea

Mel entered th vast castle with wide eyes. It was almost as big as the old Aperture facility! Mel tripped head over hooves when she bumped into something. Apparently, the long fall boots were just a prtotype, and only protected jumps from long heights and not little trips like this. She got up to see what she had bumped into, she expected a book or a mopped up section of the floor. But when she looked behind her, she saw a little purple dragon, by all standards this would've normally surprised Mel. But every since she fell from the sky, got turned into a pony, and now in a castle the size of a skyscraper back home, this wasn't as surprising as she thought. Mel then rushed to help the little dragon up, offering a helping hoof.

"Are you alright? Sorry I didn't see you there." replied Mel sheepishly.

"I'm fine. Hey, I don't think I've seen you around here before?" asked the little dragon.

"Oh, yeah...I'm...kinda new." replied Mel.

"I met her in froggy bottom bog, she was in this weird cave that fell out of the sky." said Fluttershy.

"Woah, wait...did this really happen?" asked the Dragon.

What would Mel say? That she was from another dimension, in which she was form another time of that dimension, in a facility thousands of miles below ground? They'd think she was crazy! The dragon still couldn't believe that she'd fallen out of the sky in that small town of Michigan.

"Uhm, I could show you, but I don't think that you'd believe much if you didn't" said Mel rubbing the back of her head with a hoof.

"I'd better go get Twilight." said the little dragon running off into a corridor to the left.

Mel and Fluttershy waited a few short minutes before the dragon came out of the same corridor with a purple alicorn who Mel assumed was Twilight.

"You said she fell from the sky, and doesn't have a cutie mark?" said Twilight to the little dragon.

Twilight looked up to see Mel looking back at her. What Twilight saw was something she'd never seen before. Her eyes were new, like she was born a full grown mare. It seemed impossible, yet, here she was.

"Hi, my name's Mel...I believe you're Twilight?" asked Mel staring weirdly back.

"Yeah...I normally only do friendship problems, but I think this's pretty serious. Do you know where your home is or what happened before Fluttershy found you?" asked Twilight.

"What would she say if I said I was from another dimension?" thought Mel to herself.

"No...it's kinda foggy." replied Mel very unsure of herself, like she wasn't entirely sure what she said was right.

"I think Princess Celestia should see you. She'll be able to help with both your memories and find your home." replied Twilight a little bit skeptical about Mel.

"Who's Princess Celestia?"
