View Online

Chase has been in Equestria for a few months now, and since then he has adapted to his new life. However, being the only human in a world populated by multi-colored ponies took some time getting used to.

During the course of his stay, he has managed to make some friends; Applejack, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle. The latter gave him a room at the Castle of Friendship, but Chase told himself he should get a house of his own.

To that end, he started doing odd jobs around the town of Ponyville. When he started out helping Applejack down at the farm, he quickly found it rather hard to buck apple trees with his feet. So he instead helps Applejack by loading crates of apples onto a cart, ready to go to the market.

When he helped Pinkie Pie to make sweets and cakes at Sugarcube Corner, he discovered that it was probably better to leave the cooking to Pinkie; her referring to his attempts as ‘Baked Bads’ being very accurate. Rather than cook, Chase instead spends his time helping out on the shop floor, where his helpful nature has proven to be a big hit with the customers.

He helped Rarity by acting as a mannequin for her latest designs, although he did feel embarrassed trying on all those dresses. But, he told himself, as long it helps Rarity to improve her business, that’s all that matters.

His hard work soon paid off, though, and he moved into his own home a few months after his arrival. The housewarming party that Pinkie threw was hailed as her ‘best party ever,’ at least until the next one she put together.

One thing that Chase couldn’t fail to notice during his time in Equestria, though, was the fact that he had developed feelings for Twilight. It started out as small unnoticeable feelings, but grew over time into something more.

He didn’t know why he liked her; maybe it was her smooth silky mane, her beautiful eyes that sparkle like the nighttime sky and her love for books that made her so appealing. The only problem was, he felt like it was wrong to be in love with her. He’s a human and she’s a pony, surely it would be considered bestiality?

But he thought to himself that, no, it’s not really bestiality — because she’s sapient. She can talk, she can think for herself, and she can display emotions like a regular human can, so maybe it’s not wrong after all.

After hours of thinking, Chase decided that he was going to confess his love for Twilight. But first... he needed some help from a friend.

While helping Applejack load up some baskets full of apples onto the cart, he thought that this would be the perfect time to chat with her.

“Hey, Applejack, can I ask you a question?"

“Sure ya can, partner,” Applejack replied, as she loaded some more baskets onto the cart. “Ask me anything.”

“Well…” Chase replied. “I’ve been having some trouble recently, and I was wondering if you can help me out.”

Applejack looked a little worried. “What’s wrong, Chase? Is somepony giving you a hard time?”

Chase waved his hands dismissively. “No, it’s nothing like that, Applejack."

“Then what is it, sugarcube?”

“It’s just that there’s this friend that I know,” Chase explained. “A friend who just so happens to have feeling for a certain somepony.”

"Let me guess," Applejack said. "The ‘friend’ is you, an’ the ‘certain somepony’ is Twilight.” She smirked. “I’m right, ain't I?"

“How did you know?” Chase asked, unable to keep the confusion out of his voice.

“Sugarcube, I don't know a lot about romance - that's mostly Rarity's thing - but I know that whenever we hang out together, I can almost see the feelings you get whenever you’re around Twilight.” Applejack gave him a curious look. "But if that's case, why don't ya just tell her?"

“Because I can’t.” Chase sighed and sat down. “Every time I’m with her, I want to tell her… but then I get worried that I’ll mess up and say something wrong.”

"Listen, Chase." Applejack approached him and placed a hoof on his shoulder. "I don't know what to tell you. All I can say is, do whatever you think is best."

“I don’t know, AJ. I just want to tell her in a special way, that’s all." Chase looked at the ground with sadness in his eyes. "I mean, how am I going to do that?”

“Hmm." Applejack thought for a while, then gasped as something came to mind. "I think I have an idea."

“And what’s that?” Chase asked.

“First of all…" Applejack pointed at him. "Do you have a guitar?"

“Well, yes, I do,” Chase replied. “But why?”

”Because." Applejack helped Chase get to his feet. "I think I know of a way you can tell Twilight how you feel about her."

As the sun began to set, paving the way for the moon’s soothing light to grace Equestria, Chase was walking down the path towards Twilight’s castle. The closer the building got, the more Chase found himself sweating nervously.

“It’s okay, Chase, everything is going to be okay.” he took a few deep breaths to calm himself. “Just remember what Applejack told you."

He walked up the flight of steps and stopped at the door, which he knocked on.

“Coming!” a muffled voice said from inside. Chase heard the sound of hoofsteps getting close, at which he checked his breath, fixed his hair and straightened his clothes. Gotta make sure I look presentable, after all.

Just then one of the castle doors opened, revealing Princess Twilight Sparkle herself. She looked absolutely amazing; her mane was done up in its usual style, she wasn’t wearing her regalia, and her purple eyes were bright and happy. If someone were to look at those eyes for too long, they would surely get lost forever.

“Oh, hello, Chase. What brings you here?” Twilight asked.

“Hey, Twilight,” Chase replied. “I was in the area, when I began wondering if I could come over and visit for a while?”

“Well of course you can visit, Chase, I don’t mind at all." Twilight happily stepped aside. "Come on in."

Chase stepped inside the castle and started walking down the hall with Twilight by his side. The two of them walked in silence for a few moments before he spoke.
“So how are things going here, Twilight?"

“It’s going great,” Twilight replied. “I’m doing a little bit of work here and there, spreading the magic of friendship. How about you, Chase?”

“Same old, same old,” Chase said. “Just doing jobs and helping out around town.”

Twilight noticed a guitar case on Chase's back and pointed at it. “Uh, Chase, why do you have that?"

"Oh, this thing?" Chase took the case off his back and held it in his arms. "It's just a little something for later.”

"Oh, okay." Twilight nodded. At that moment, Chase’s stomach started growling, causing her to giggle. ”I guess doing all that work made you hungry, huh? Well, what kind of hostess would I be if I didn’t offer you dinner?”

“It sure does make me hungry." Chas patted his stomach. "And dinner, really? What did you have in mind?"

Twilight tapped her chin with her hoof. “Does spaghetti sound good?”

“Yeah that sounds good,” Chase replied. “I'm up for some spaghetti.”

"Great!" Twilight chirped. " I'll make the spaghetti, and you can set the table.”

As they entered the kitchen, Twilight began preparing. Her horn lit up with magic, and a plethora of ingredients and utensils were soon dancing around her head as she got ready to cook. Chase, meanwhile, had opened a cupboard and took the plates out, which he began putting on the table.

“Hey, Twilight, where’s Spike?” he asked.

“He’s in bed,” Twilight replied. “He did an amazing job at keeping the castle clean, so I let him sleep in for the rest of the day.”

Chase chuckled as he finished setting the table. Fifteen minutes passed before Twilight was finished making the dinner; a spaghetti bolognese. She dished the meal out and put the pots into the sink, then sat down at the table with Chase.

“I know it’s not much, but I hope you like it,” Twilight said. “Bon appetit.”

“Thanks, Twilight.” Chase took a forkful of spaghetti and put it in his mouth, his eyes widening at the pleasant taste and texture. “Wow this is good, Twilight! I think you really outdid yourself this time.”

“Thank you, Chase," Twilight said. "That means a lot coming from you.”

“You’re most welcome, Miss Sparkle."

The two of them settled down to eat their meal, engaging in polite conversation about their respective days. After eating dinner and cleaning the dishes, Twilight asked Chase if he could stay for a while; an offer Chase gladly accepted. An hour later, he and Twilight were sitting on the couch next to an open fire.

“You know, Chase,” Twilight said. “This is nice, sitting next to a fire on a wonderful night.”

“Yeah it sure is, Twilight," Chase replied. "It sure is."

"You know..." Twilight sighed and looked into the fire, sadness clearly evident in her eyes. "It's been quite lonely without you around, Chase."

“Really? Why’s that, Twilight?"

“Because now that I’m by myself, I have no one to talk to." Twilight sniffled, tears slowly beginning to form in her eyes. "I have no one to keep me company, and no one to be there for me when I'm down. I know I have Spike, but I can hardly expect him to be by my side twenty-four hours a day. He has his own life to live.”

“Oh, Twilight, why didn’t you tell me awhile back ago?" Chase asked. "If you had, then I definitely would have stayed here instead.'

“Because I knew you wanted your own place to live." Twilight began to cry. "And besides, who would want to stay with a boring egghead like me?”

Chase put his hands on both of Twilight’s cheeks, wiping the tears away with his thumbs. “Don’t say that, Twilight,” he said softly but firmly. “You’re not an egghead. You’re an amazing and intelligent mare, with wonderful friends."

“Thanks, Chase, I always knew I could count on you to be there for me.”

Chase thought this would be the perfect time to tell Twilight his feelings. With that in mind, he got his guitar case and opened it.

“Do want know why I brought this guitar, Twilight?" he asked.

“You said that you were going to use it for later.” Twilight said.

“Yes well, that later is now.” Chase sighed. “I think you’re a wonderful pony, but I could never find the right words to tell you. So, with a little help from Applejack, I have decided to sing you a song I know from my world — a song that I believe perfectly sums up you and I, Twilight."

He began playing the guitar, and then he began to sing.

Once he was done singing, Chase put his guitar away and looked at a clearly speechless Twilight.

“So there you go, Twilight," he said. "That is how I truly feel about you.”

“I don’t know what to say," Twilight said with tears in her eyes. "That was beautiful, Chase.”

“I been meaning to tell you this for a long time but..." Chase sighed. "I love you, Twilight. You’re without a doubt the most beautiful mare I’ve ever seen."

“D-do you really mean that, Chase?"

“Of course, Twilight. I would give anything to be with you.”

“Oh, Chase, I… I love you too!” Twilight said gleefully.

Twilight wrapped her hooves around Chase’s neck and planted a kiss on his lips. Chase was a little shocked by this, but he returned the kiss eagerly as their tongues met. After a few minutes, the need for air became important; Chase and Twilight breaking the kiss and gazing into each other’s eyes, a small trail of saliva connecting them.

“That was… amazing, Twilight,” Chase said, still a little breathless from the kiss.

“Yeah it sure was, huh?” Twilight bit her lower lip. “Listen, Chase, I know you have your own place and all but… I was wondering if you could come back and stay here with me?”
Chase didn’t even need to think. “Of course I’ll stay with you, Twilight," he said. "Besides, it was getting kind of lonely there anyway.”

Twilight hugged her new human boyfriend, a hug Chase returned, and they then looked into each other’s eyes for a while, until Twilight rested her head on Chase’s chest.

“I’m so glad you’re here, Chase," Twilight whispered.

“Me too, Twilight." Chase ran his fingers through Twilight's mane. "Me too.”
