You rode through the streets with your family on the family horse, Epona, to your destination. Your homeland, Hyrule, was recently discovered by Canterlot officials and the king is currently working out a peace treaty with them, making sure that there is no hostility between the two countries. Now, you and your family are on your way to Canterlot High School to meet with Principal Celestia and Vice Principal Luna to discuss your education arrangements.

Your father, Link, was controlling Epona to the school, your mother, Princess Zelda, was sitting between you and Link, holding the both of you, and you yourself held onto your mother's waist, trying not to fall off of the horse. You were wearing a green tunic held together at the waist with a brown belt, green cloak, denim shorts, and brown boots, now all you needed was a long, green hat and you'd look like your father. Soon enough, you all approach the school grounds and dismount Epona as the principals who were waiting outside for you made their way over.

"Hello, Your Highnesses," Celestia greets, "it's great to see you all here."

"Yes," your mom agrees, "we have been meaning to give our son a good education, but the teaching methods we have had been used for generations and appeared outdated to your customs."

"It is understandable," Luna adds, "your kingdom has kept to itself and has been living in the medieval ages for far too long."

"Indeed, hopefully our kingdom can modernize and learn from the technology your country has."

"Oh, where are our manners?" Celestia interjects, "We've been standing out here for a while now, why don't we head inside and discuss your son's education?"

"We would like that, right, you two?"

You and your father nodded.

"Great! Let's get a move on, shall we?" Celestia says as she leads you all inside.

The Main Foyer was rather spacious; trophy cases adorned the walls, a massive star chandelier that reached down past the second level of the school, and the floors sparkled as if the guards back at home spit shined them themselves.

"Young one," Luna gains your attention, "we will take your parents to my sister's office to begin our discussion, meanwhile, you will stay here and wait for your tour guide, she will show you around the school to help you get a good grasp of your surroundings here."

Your face appeared apprehensive as you didn't want to be separated from your family.

"It's okay, sweetie," your mom cooed, "we'll be back, we just need to talk about your education here, you'll be in good hands with this 'tour guide' they have, okay?"

You hesitated, but nodded.

"Good. We'll see you in an hour."

"Here," your dad came up to you and put his hat on your head, "for good luck."

Your mom giggles, "You look like the spitting image of your father when he was your age."

You couldn't help but giggle as well, you always had your dad's looks and your mom's kindness. Your parents and the principals left the Foyer, leaving you by yourself. It had been half an hour when a girl with fiery-like hair came up to you with a smile.

"Hi! Are you the new guy I'm supposed to show around?"

You shy away a bit, covering more of yourself with your cloak as you nod.

She giggles, "It's okay, I won't bite."

You walk up closer to her, but struggle to make eye contact.

"So, what's your name?"

"That's a nice name, I'm Sunset Shimmer." the girl says, "Well, let's get on with the tour!"

The two of you went around the school while Sunset named off all the classrooms as you passed by them. You came up to a poster and chose to ask Sunset about it.

"Oh! The school's having a musical showcase in the next few days, maybe you could enter if you want. Do you have an instrument?"

You remember a family heirloom that was given to your ancestor from a friend of his, your dad passed that heirloom down to you for your birthday two years ago. You pull it out of your pocket and show it to Sunset.

"What's that?"

"It's an ocarina." you answer.

"An ocarina? That's an interesting choice of instrument."

You tell her it was a family heirloom and a birthday gift from your dad.

"Really? Well that was nice of him."

You nod.

Suddenly, a loud bell rings and people start pouring out of the classrooms.

"Oh, no..." she moaned, "I was hoping we would get this done before the lunch bell."

"Why?" you ask.

Then, you began to hear whispers, harsh whispers, quietly spouting crude names or cruel profanities. But they weren't directed at you, no, they were directed at Sunset, who was becoming uncomfortable by them. With newfound courage, you decide to stand up for your friend.

"Hey!" you shout, "Why don't you all pick on someone your own size?!"

Murmurs fill the halls, curious about why someone would protect Sunset Shimmer. You take this advantage and grab Sunset by the hand and run away from the crowd, heading for the cafeteria, which she had shown you earlier. You both went in and sat down, catching your breath from running.

"You...okay?" you pant.

"Yeah...I'm fine." she pants back.

Soon, the two of you regain your lost air and just sit in uncomfortable silence.

"...Why?" Sunset asks.

"Huh?" you ask back.

"Why did you help me?"

"...Because you're my friend."

Sunset gasps in surprise, "Really?"

"Of course!" you give her a big smile, "I haven't seen a bad bone in your body since we met!"

"But I was a bully in the past..."

"Who cares? That was then, this is now, and my parents taught me when something bad happens, you just let go of the past and forgive yourself."

Sunset stared at you, wide-eyed at your words; never had she thought of forgiving herself for her actions before and during the Fall Formal, she always believed she was unforgivable, but here this new guy is, telling her that it's possible to forgive and forget her terrible deeds as if it wasn't a problem.

"Thank you." Sunset says.

You smile, "You're welcome."

Just then, people started entering the cafeteria, along with five girls that came your way, making you tense up and gear yourself up for a fight.

"It's okay," Sunset whispers in your ear, "they're my friends."

You lessen your tension and relax yourself.

"Sunset, darling!" the white skinned, purple haired one one called.

"Hey Rarity." Sunset greets.

"We heard what happened," the yellow skinned, pink haired one said, "are you okay?"

"Do I need to kick some butt?" the sky blue skinned, rainbow haired one said.

"Yes, Fluttershy, I'm fine, and no, Rainbow Dash, you don't. I'm okay now, thanks to him." Sunset pointed a thumb at you.

"Who's this feller?" the country looking girl asked.

You introduced yourself, and told them your parents were talking to the principals.

"Ooh! Are you the new guy that came from the land of Hyrule?" the pink one asked.

"Hyrule?" Rarity inquired, "But that must mean...you're the prince!" she curtsies and bows her head, "I am honored to be in your presence, Your Highness."

"Please don't do that."

Rarity looked up at you, surprised at your response.

You look to the side, "I'd rather not be treated like royalty while I'm here."

"But why?"

"I just...want to be a regular kid, that's all."

"Well then, how bout we introduce ourselves? Ah'm Applejack," she pointed to the pink one, "that's Pinkie Pie," Pinkie waves at you vigorously with a huge smile, "and you've already met Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Sunset Shimmer."

"Nice to meet you all."

The doors of the cafeteria open to reveal the principals and your parents.

"It's the princess and the Hero of Time!" one of the students call out.

With that, the entire student body bows down to your family, except for you.

"What's he doing?!"

"Doesn't he know he's disrespecting royalty?!"

"Come on, son, it's time to go."

"Okay, dad!" you said.

You jump up and walk to your family, ignoring the collective shouts, "DAD?!" and continue on your way. After reaching the Main Foyer, you were given a map of the school and your class schedule for your education at Canterlot High.

"We'll see you tomorrow," Celestia said your name.

"Okay, see you then." you said.

You and your family left and mounted Epona, with a neigh, she rode off with you all back to your temporary place of residence.

Chapter 1: Dawn of the First Day

Before you went to school, your mom taught you how to play her great grandmother's lullaby and your dad taught you your grandfather's best friend's song; Zelda's Lullaby and Saria's Song. On your way to CHS, you meet up with Sunset.

"Hey!" she greeted, "What's up?"

"I learned a couple new songs from my parents."

"Really? Well, let's wait till lunch, I'm sure the girls want to hear it too."

You nod in agreement and continue to school with Sunset. After arriving, everyone stops what they're doing and stares at you and Sunset.

"Got a problem?" you call out.

They all instantly turn away.

"Didn't think so."

The two of you continue into the school and head off to your first class, which apparently you shared with Sunset, Rainbow, and Pinkie.

After the lunch bell rang, you and your new friends enter the cafeteria, grab your food, and sit at the nearest table.

"So," Rarity says your name, "Sunset says you learned two new songs on your ocarina."

"What's an 'ock-ka-rina'?" Rainbow asks.

"I'll show you." you say as you pull out your Fairy Ocarina.

You put your mouth on it, your fingers on the holes, and began playing Saria's Song, then Zelda's Lullaby. The girls were quiet after you finished playing.

"So...what do you think?"

"Eh, it was aight." Rainbow said.

"What are you saying, Rainbow Dash? That was amazing. Do you have any idea how hard it is to play the ocarina?" Fluttershy asked.

"Well, my dad said I was a natural when I first played one, said it was in the genes." you add.

"Huh?" the girls chimed.

"On my grandfather's travels when he was near my age, he got this very ocarina from a very close friend of his, and learned many a song in his day. My dad said some music he played carried a special kind of magic within it."

"Magic?" Sunset inquired.

"Oh, yeah, apparently there's magic where I come from, didn't you all know that?"

"No. What kind of magic?"

"Light magic, dark magic, fire magic, ice magic, wind magic, barrier magic, stuff like that."

"Does your dad have magic?"

"Yeah...but, he uses it through items he held on to from our ancestors or the ones he got from his own travels, and he keeps it all locked up in his trunk in the basement."

"Is your...ocarina magic?"

"To some degree. My dad said it was from the Kokiri Forest, that any and all plant life was creating by one of the three goddesses, Farore, and that my ocarina has a special magic from that forest with all the Kokiri children."

"Goddesses? Kokiri children?"

"How about I ask a better question," Rainbow interrupted, "why do you have pointy ears like an elf?"

Before you could be questioned any further, the bell rang for the next class, everyone proceeded to pick up their trays, throw away their trash, and move on to the next class, especially you and your new friends.

Once the final bell rung out, you left the school and waited for your parents to pick you up. You were approached by the girls as your mom and dad came up on the family horse.

"Excuse me, Your Highness?" Sunset asked.

"Yes?" your mom, Zelda, replied.

"Would it be alright if your son could...I don't know, join us at a slumber party at a friend's house?"

Zelda looked at her, then at you and smiled, "I'm glad to see you're making friends, my son. It seemed we have raised you well." that made you smile as well, you always loved your mom's praise, "Go on and have fun, and we'll see you tomorrow."

With that, they rode off back to the house, leaving you and your new friends behind. Pinkie snuck up behind you and trapped you in a bone-crushing hug.

"YAAAAAY! SLUMBER PARTY AT MY HOUSE!" she declared as the girls looked excited.

Chapter 2: Night of the First Day

Night fell as you found yourself in the company of your new friends, whom of which you learned that they started a band called the "Rainbooms", all in their pajamas, making you blush as you've never been this casual with anyone but your parents. Sunset sensed your nervousness and walked over to you.

"Hey, you okay?"

"I-I'll be f-fine." you reply.

"Ya don't sound like yer fine, partner," Applejack jumped into the conversation, "what's wrong?"

"It...I-I-It's just—"

"I see what's going on here," Rainbow interjected, "you've never seen a girl in her PJ's, have ya?"

Your mouth wouldn't respond, so you shook your head.

Rainbow chuckled, "It's cool. Guys like you would kill to be in a girl's slumber party, but you're nervous to be in one. For a kid, you're pretty mature for your age."

Suddenly your voice came back, "'Kid'? I'm 15 years old."

"Don't be offended, it's a compliment."

"Okay, then." you say, unsure.

You heard the doorbell ring.

"Pizza's here!" Pinkie cheered, and everyone left the room but you.

Then, you heard a sound outside. You get up and decide to investigate, just before Pinkie came back.

"Don't you want any—huh?" she looked around the room, "Where'd he go?"

You walked out the back door and looked around, it was dark, but you could make out a bunch of rocks, a tree, and bushes. You climb up the tree and break off a dead branch to use as a weapon.

"I know you're there. Show yourself."

Nothing at first, but then two blobs of goop, one red, one green, slowly slid out in the open with a quiet slurping sound.

Your eyes go wide as you know what they are, "Oh, no..."

The door opens to reveal Fluttershy, who appeared to be looking for you as she called your name. You panicked and turned to her.

"Fluttershy, get back in the house!"

"W-W-What's wrong?"

Too late, the blobs took form; they were round-like and bulbous with big, beady eyes and expressionless mouths. Fluttershy screamed and ran back inside, but you took a defensive stance with your stick as they hopped to you.

"ChuChu's." you growl.

Fluttershy ran through the house until she found her friends.

"What is it, Fluttershy? Did you find him?" Rainbow asked.

Fluttershy muttered your name as gasped for air, "...Monsters...needs our help...!"

"Monsters?!" they all shriek.

They followed Fluttershy to the backyard, where you whacked the red ChuChu on the left with the stick, then the green one on the right, then back to the red one, your attacks went back and forth until you heard the girls called your name.

You turn your head, "Girls, get back in the house, I'm handling this!"

"No way!" Rainbow yelled, "We're not leaving you to do this on your own!"

The red ChuChu hops towards you, forcing you to put both hands on the stick, holding it back, "I won't let you risk your lives!"

"And you aren't?!"

"These things are weak, trust me!"

"How do YOU know?!"

"Because they came from my homeland!"

A collective gasp came from the Rainbooms, you ignored them and pushed forward, staggering the red ChuChu, you took your chance and swung as hard as you could, making it squeal in agony as it disappeared in a cloud of black smoke, leaving behind a drop of red goo. You picked it up and pocketed it, then focused your attention on the green ChuChu, only for it to be hit by a soccer ball and squeal like its brother, evaporating into the same cloud as the last one and a drop of green goo came from it, you did the same as before and pocketed it. When you looked back at the girls, they looked astonished, surprised, and angry, you knew you had some explaining to do.

You returned inside with the others and explained to them the monsters you fought and how it's a normal occurrence back in Hyrule, but you don't know how they got here.

"If what you're saying is true..." Sunset ponders for a moment, "...then that must mean, there's more of them, and not just the 'ChuChu's', as you call them."

"Yes, there are many more types of monsters back at home."

Your response made the girls gasp in shock and fear.

"But if any of the officials find this out, they'll blame it on Hyrule and bring about a civil war between our two countries."

"Then we'll take care of these things personally!" Rainbow declared, punching her open palm.

"'We'?" you ask, "Uh, last I checked, I told you all to—"

"Don't even try, darling," Rarity stopped you, "we're in this together, whether you like it or not."

"She's right," Sunset agreed, "you don't have to shoulder this burden alone."

"But this isn't your—"

"Ah wouldn't finish that sentence, partner," Applejack interrupted, "ya mess with one of us, ya mess with all of us!"

They all cheered as they agreed.

In your frustration, your abruptly stood up from your seat, "I can't guarantee your safety if you all go through with this!"

Though slightly deterred, one stepped up to speak, it was Pinkie, "We're no stranger to danger!"

"And you're all sure about this?"

They nod.

"There's no turning back if you agree, you know."

"We understand." Sunset said.

You sigh, exasperated, "...Okay."

"Good. Now let's grab a slice of pizza and head to bed."

You and the girls did just that, but the night was almost sleepless as the thought of getting these girls involved and getting hurt plagued your mind until the exhaustion from your previous battle caught up to you. The last thought that crossed your mind before sleep took you was that you needed training and a better weapon.
