When a spell goes awry, two alicorn brothers surface and are forced to intervene in a royal conflict
The changlings have been defeated, yet they still remain in equestria. After an argument that could destroy the Royal sister's friendship, Twilight finds a spell called 'The Balance' that could end all the chaos which she plans to use if matters in the Royal court go haywire. But when the spells goes horribly wrong, the elements of harmony open a portal to 2 powerful alicorns. Who are the Brothers of the Balance and what is their purpose in Equestria?
Author's Note: Hey guys, Bronypanda here, this is my first fanfic so go easy on me :)
The Royal Court had been brought together that day to determine the fate of the defeated changlings whether to search for them and finish them once and for all or to simply forget the matter thinking they had learned their lesson and wouldn't dare to return. As the 2 alicorns sat at opposite sides of the enormous court room, they clearly had different opinions on their next course of action. All of canterlot shook as the power of the regal sisters argument could not be contained by stone walls.
"ARE YOU SAYING THAT WE SIMPLY GIVE UP AND LET THEM ROAM FREE AROUND EQUESTRIA"? shouted the Princess of The Moon to her equally stubborn sister.
"There is no need to search for an enemy that no longer bears threat to our land". replied the calm but agitated princess of the sun. At this point luna was more furious than ever as she tried to reason with her sister using the royal canterlot voice.
"WE MUST ACT NOW AND HUNT FOR THEM WHILE THEY ARE AT THEIR WEAKEST, IF WE DO NOTHING, THEY WILL MOST LIKELY EXPLOIT OUR INACTION AND STRIKE AGAIN, THIS TIME WITH A LARGER ARMY, SURELY YOU SEE THAT SISTER"! Luna spoke with fury,
"To strike back would be to declare war on them, you wish to silence them but your actions will only push them to avenge their recent defeat. I believe this is a good point in which our negotiation can come to a pause, so that you may find a resolve to your anger and perhaps continue at a more calm attitude sister". To that, the rest of the royal court was dismissed, with luna glaring at her sister with anguish as she walked out of the courtroom with a look of victory over her younger sister.
The whole time, the events of the negotiations had been overseen by the commanding officer of the royal Canterlot guard who was non other than Captain Prince Shining Armor who had a look of deep worry on his face as he pondered about what future events would take place as a result of this two sided conflict. Not far away, Princess Cadence along with Twilight Sparkle had witnessed the whole scene from a balcony as the worried alicorn motioned her husband to meet them afterword. As Shining armor made his way to the bacony, his wife and sister met him half way, Cadence almost knocking him over with a hug of concern,
"What now"? She questioned, with fear in her tone, "Do we not get a say in this whatsoever? I think with all that we've been through, you and I at least deserve some opinion in the negotiation, after all-
"It isn't our place to only worsen the matter". He interrupted. "Barging into the middle of this would only inspire the whole Court to take sides, which is something that would definitely not be helpful, the Princesses are already in a disagreement, how else could things get worse"?
I've never seen them argue like this before", Twilight added. "We need to find some way in which we can get them to see both sides of each other's stories but we they won't even speak let alone listen to each other".
"it is a good thought Twily". Shining responded with full support, "But we won't be making any progress in this negotiations until the princesses or at least princess Luna can find a reason to speak to Princess Celestia without starting another argument like today, before we even re-open the discussion tommorow". The captain spoke, with some reassurance.
Twilight was not happy with the answer. "Cadence, can't you do something? You're their niece for pony's sake"! Twilight said with eagerness.
"Ehh sorry Twilight, but I doubt they would take my opinion seriously-
-What about your spell"! Twilight interrupted with more eagerness from before.
"Absolutely not young filly"! Cadence argued back with a look of seriousness. "Using alicorn magic against WAY more powerful alicorns is too dangerous, besides, my form of the spell only works with two ponies in LOVE, not two sisters".The princess said in defiance of her sister in law's idea.
"But-
Not another word Twily," Shining Armor interrupted, ending the conversation. "It's too dangerous, plus we might end up making things worse" . Twilight nodded her head in disappointment.
"All we can do is wait for tommorow and see where that leads", said Cadence trying to support her husband. " Try to get some rest Twilight, and we'll talk more tommorow". The couple began to walk back to their chambers leaving the purple unicorn alone, thinking to herself,
" What did Cadence mean,'Her form' of the spell"? Ending her thought she quickly ran to the royal library for an all nighter.
The next morning, Twilight quickly ran to Cadence and shining Armor's Chamber, excited with the news that she had discovered. The night before, she had done research on Cadence's love spell and had learned of the diffrent forms that it took, but the odd part was, there were only 2 other forms, but these spells could only be performed by two different spell casters simultaneasly, in order to form the spell known as 'The Balance'. The spell could only be cast by two ponies that had a strong sense of harmony between them, and would settle any dispute between ponies and bring them together creating balance "Who had more harmony and peace, then the newlywed"? Twilight thought as she raced for the tower which the royal couple were staying at, with hope that they would agree to using the strange magic. Just as Shining Armor was about to leave, to begin his daily routin as captain, before the court gathered, Twilight crashed through the doors of the tower into her brother, shaking a not fully awake Cadnece from the bed. Shining Armor rose to his hooves rubbing his forehead,
"Nngh, Twilight, are you crazy? Do have any idea what time it is"? The captain said still tryin to recover.
"Oh sweetie is that the milk pony bringing the mail"? A still woozy Cadence said as she rose from the bed with her mane a mess.
"Just go back to bed honey. Twilight, whats wrong, why are you here so early, whats with all the scrolls and books? Did you sleep at all last night? Shining asked with concern.
"We have alot to talk about". She said, still catching her breath.
Now almost noon around 11:30, Shining armor already late for his duties was pacing the floor, " So let me get this straight, you found a spell that can only be performed by two ponies in complete harmony, and it will somehow settle the Princess's argument"? Shining Armor asked with doubt.
"I know it sounds ridiculous, but if this spell is for real, then it could solve all of our problems" Twilight said, trying to reason with her brother.
Shining Armor looked to Cadnece who was now wide awake, but still in bed, then back to his sister."I just don't know if its right for us to be tampering with their emotions, and even if we agreed, what if it doesnt work, what if it ends up causing them to fight more? I mean, if you havent noticed Twily, it says this spell hasn't been used in thousands of years, even before the Princesses ruled! I just don't think its worth putting our hopes into this dusty old spell that MIGHT work".The look on his face was simply depressing. It was silent for a few moments, then Cadence was the first to speak up,
"Well, if you really have faith in this Twilight, then I guess we should atleast try, you are the element of magic after all". Twilight lit right up, " You can show us how to do the spell but we should only use it if things go haywire in the courtroom, is that ok with you Shining"? Cadence asked her husband.
"ohhh ok, fine we'll try it, BUT dont say I didn't warn you if it doesnt work- He was cut of as his wife and sister both attacked him with a hug.
"Grrrreat"! Twilight said with joy at her brothers decision. " We should get started RIGHT away"! With that, she began to teach them the new spell.
Author's Note: So yeah thats the first chapter, lot of tension between the princesses, dont worry im not gonna do anything TOO bad with them, the brothers will probably be added in in the next chapter, im open to suggestions and comments and if you guys want, i'll keep going on with the story.

(tick tock, tick, tock, tick, tock) the large clock echoed through Princess Celestia's bedroom as sleep had slipped away from her knowing all was not well between she and her sister.
"She doesnt understand what's at stake" Celestia mumbled to herself. She clearly still disagreed with Luna.
The clock struck noon when she realized how long she had been sitting at her desk staring blankly down at some documents. Today the discussion would resume. The very thought of it made Celestia's head and heart ache. She knew her sister was still upset with her and she didn't like it when she felt seperated from her. The same feeling she had during Luna's 1000 year banishment and she wasn't in the mood to argue this time. Today would be the day when the repairs would be made.
"But how can i convince her that her desire for revenge would only spark greater conflict"? The princess thought as she slowy climbed into her bed for little bit of sleep.
On the other side of the castle, you could say Princess Luna was almost thinking the same thing...almost. Being a nocturnel pony, she too had gotten little rest. She paced the marble floor of her room, thinking about what her next course of action would be during the discussion this afternoon.
"She will not realize her mistake until it is too late, only then would she regret doubting my opinion". Luna growled as she stared into the large mirror in her room.
"I am as much a ruler of this kingdom as she is. I dont deserve to be treated this way"! She began raising her voice.
"Your highness, are you well"? A guard spoke behind the thick doors of her chambers.
Luna quickly snapped back to reality replying with a subtle "I'm fine". Although everything was not "fine". She needed to be heard by the court and more importantly, Her sister, if she was to prevent more destruction from reaching Canterlot. Like i said before, Almost the same thoughts.
On another side of the Castle, beams of light could be seen through the windows of Shining Armor and Cadence's chambers. The royal couple lay on the floor from exhaustion, gasping for air, barely able to move due to the excessive use of magic in a short period of time. Twilight had shown them the technique in casting 'The Balance' and they appeared to be ready.
"Success"! Twilight jumped around the room, like she would if she were still a filly.
Although the spell seemed to have worked properly; 2 halves of an aqua green ring forming and coming together like the halves of a heart from Cadence's spell; there was no actual way to see if the spell was a success.
"Did it work"? The couple said in unison, still trying to catch their breath.
"No way to know for sure, but it says here that the spell must be performed from a distance so if the time comes, you'll have to come up to the balcony and do the spell with Cadence there, Shining Armor". Twilight said to her broher, her face deep in a book.
"Let's just hope we won't need it" Shining Armor replied, still tired from the difficult spell. "But why do I feel that there's more to this spell than meets the eye"?
"Well, its an ancient spell, I found this scroll in the 'Pony legends and History' wing of the library". Twilight said sheepishly.
"I guess only time will tell". Cadence spoke, finally recovering from their little 'exercise', you could call it.
5:30, it was time, not a word was spoken as the royal court and the 2 princesses slowly walked into the courtroom. The sisters gave a quick glance at one another, before taking their seats on opposite ends. The rest of the court memebers took quick bows to their majesties and hurried to their seats. Shining Armor cleared his throat and was the first to break the silence with the introductions.
"The Royal Court is now in session, discussion over the sentence of the changling race will now resume from yesterday, 4:26 P.M". He announced professionally.
"Thank you Captain". Princess Celestia nodded, "That will be all". She said, waving Shining Armor back to his post.
As he backed away, head bowed down, he rose his head to see his wife, and sister waiting at the balcony, looking terribly nervous. "Here we go".
"Now", Princess Luna started, "Where were we sister"? She said in a harsh tone.
"Back to where we ended yestarday and presenting evidence why, your motion is ludicrus". Celestia shot back, not looking at her sister, head in the air."Oh brilliant, THAT is how you start repairs..." The princess sarcastically thought to herself.
Luna was quickly agitated, "You still do not see right path in this matter sister". She said, rubbing her forehead.
"Very well...........I'm listening sister". Celestia replied trying to be more reasonable to hopefully get on Luna's good side.
Apparently it was working, Luna, along with the rest of the court had a suprised look on their faces, at Celestia's sudden change of thought, eager to hear what she would say next, even Shining Armor looked suprised. Over on the balcony, Twilight and Cadence looked at each other with hope in their eyes that the spell may not afterall be needed.
Luna continued, "Well, um....'ahem' um if you insist sister". She replied, still a bit suprised and taken back. She thought today would no different to the day before. Finally! Maybe this was her chance to persuade her sister! She used her magic to bring out some papers and maps that she had in a bag that ine of her guards was holding close by.
"From what my sources have managed to discover and report, A changling hive has been located near the edge of the Everfree, on the far side, to the north edge of Equestria. My. Consultants have warned me of the recent increase of activity in these hives". Luna explained. "I hope you can see what the inevitable will be sister". She asked, Hopefully.
Luna would not be pleased with her sister's answer. Trying as hard as she could, Celestia could not agree on what her sister was trying to say. She sighed when she knew how her next sentence would devestate Luna.
" I am sorry sister, but i know what you are thinking and once again, I must disagree, you believe that the increase in activity is a rising army, when it is no more than a mere increase in their population, trying to get back to their life, if you will". Celestia explained, with some hint of persuasion in her tone.
Luna sighed at her failure to persuade her sister. She could keep calm no longer because of Celestia's stuborness. Luna decided it was no longer time for politics, she had to make her sister understand, for the good of Equestria. With the last bit of peace escaping from her mind, she summoned her Canteot voice and went on the offensive on her sister.
"I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS, ISN'T IT OBVIOUS THAT THERE IS AN ARMY OUT THERE JUST WAITING FOR THE RIGHT MOMENT"?! Luna burst with all her fury. "ALL I AM GUILTY OF IS WANTING TO DEPLOY A SIMPLE SEARCH CAMPAIN TO ENSURE THAT OUR LAND IS SAFE FROM THOSE MONSTERS, YET YOU SIT HERE, COWERING BEHIND YOU'RE THRONE, AND FROM WHAT WE ALL CAN CLEARLY SEE SISTER, YOU ARE TOO SOFT"!!! The Princess roared in rage.
This had caused a snap in her sister. Now Princess Celestia had lost all calm demenor and had had enough of her sister's tantrum. It was her turn to be be on offense. And for the first time in thousands of years, SHE was going to use the Canterlot voice.
"HOW DARE YOU, HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME ABOUT THE SAFTEY OF OUR LAND WITH SUCH DISGUST, IT WAS I WHO KEPT OUR LAND SAFE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS, I WHO HAS SACRIFICED ALL FOR THE GOOD OF PONY KIND, I WHO PUT AN END TO A CHILD'S JEALOUSY WHO LET HATRED OVERCOME HER A PUT EVERYPONY IN DANGER, THE PONY WHO BECAME THE REAL DANGER TO EQUESTRIA WAS YOU"!!!!
Realizing what she had just said, Celestia quickly wrapped her hooves on her mouth, ashamed at the painful memory that she had just brought up; tears flowing in her eyes. The whole room gasped in suprise. Shinging Armor lowered his head, knowing what had to be done, He looked over to the balcony and nodded to Cadence and Twilight, who nodded in return. Hopefully the spell would work. The captain quickly ran to the balcony, the ponies in the court still whispering and talking amongst themselves. Celestia still covering her mouth, crying, knowing that she could not take back her words. The only pony who said nothing..........was Luna.

Silence. Silence was all that could be heard throughout the courtroom. Celestia, was still in tears because she had not chosen her words wisely, and yet, still nothing from Luna. Shining Armor raced to the balcony, hoping to end this before it escalated any further, but it was already too late.
The silence was finally broken, as Luna spoke; a mixture of anger and hurt in her tone. "I see..... Now i see what you really think sister. Now i see that i am nothing but a child to you. I was a fool to believe that you would listen, I thought THAT matter was forgiven long ago......I guess I was wrong".
"Luna please, I didn't mean a word of it... I...I was just angry". Celestia tried toreason with her.
"No, I will not listen to your excuses. They say a pony's mind is truely focused when they are in anger.....you meant it all...EVERY WORD''!!!!!!!! Luna was now more furious then ever as her horn lit with bursting magic.
Shining Armor finally made it to the balcony, with Cadence already focusing on the spell and Twilight nervously observing the event that was transpiring bellow. Realizing that his wife was to busy concentrating and his sister was still in shock, he quickly began his part of the spell. He walked over to Cadence; horn glowing, and touched the tip of his horn to hers. The two unicorn's magic then fused together, giving of an aqua green glow as the 2 halves of the ring began to form. As they opened their eyes, they saw the ring. Things were not going too well though, when Twilight noticed the couple losing their strength, unfortunatley, they had not rested well enough before using the spell again in the same day in such a short period of time.
"No! Not yet! It's too early! Just hold on a bit longer, its almost time". Twilight whispered as her body shook nervouslly.
Down bellow, things were also going haywire, Celestia, now more focused and no longer sobbing, was focusing on pacifiying her sister before she would do something she would regret, the two alicorn's horns flaring fiercly.
"Luna please, we can talk this through, it doesnt need to be this way. You dont want to do anything drastic, perhaps we can talk in private". Celestia begged, not wanting to start a fight with her sibling.
Luna barked back at Celestia, "NO! NO MORE WAITING, NO MORE TALKING, THIS ENDS NOOOWW"!!!!!!
In a shocking move, Luna fired a beam of magic directly at her sister; lethal or non would never be figured out. Terrified and baffled, Celestia thought quickly and fired a beam back, in order to stop Luna's attack from doing more damage then she intended.
Time slowed down.... It was now or never. Twilight looked to Cadence and Shining Armor. Now that the spell was complete, the two nodded and quickly shot the ring itno the courtoom.
The three were thinking the same thing at the same moment after the ring was fired, unfortunaltely, they had not aimed there shot very accurately; it was headed straight in between the two princess's beams. They watched in horror.
"Uh oh".
Instead of aiming the rings at the princesses, Shining Armor and Cadence fired their only shots blindly into the air due to panic and the lack of time to act. Just like that, the halves connected and formed the ring, not before it was struck by the two beams of magic just fired. Shining Armor observed in horror at their foolish mistake.
"How could this get any worse"?? He asked himself.
He would soon horribly regret tempting fate with a stupid question such as that when he noticed that Princess Celestia had seen the whole thing. Thousands of thoughts raced through his head as he thought of his career and future. Cadence would probably only be punished by having a discussion with her aunt becuase she was royal, but him, ooh he was finished.
"This is it Armor". He whimpered, " No more Captain of the Royal Guard, no more respect, no more Cadence, after dishonorable discharge, I'll probably be banished... OR WORSE"!
He was panicking much like Twilight would at a simple mistake. Must run in the family becuase Twilight was right there with him thinking about similar punishments.
"Oh no no no no no no no no....... This is bad, VERY bad" Twilight cried in her mind. "My role as prized pupil, my advanced studies, my relationship with the princess, GONE! She'll never see me as her prized student EVER AGAIN! She panicked.
While the 2 sparkle siblings were hiding in the corner crying like foals, Cadence, along with everypony else was staring at the orb of magic that floated near the ceiling of the room. Slowly pulsing, the aura soon took some golden shape that nopony could make out, a weird rod with an odd design of some sort, almost like a.....key.

The room was full of whispers while everypony stared at the mysterious magic object that was ominously floating at the top of the ceiling. No pony was more shocked and horrified than the 3 ponies at the top of the balcony. The sparkle siblings had regained their heads and were now watching the magic object as it grew larger and larger. After firing back at Luna in defense, Princess Celestia had witnessed something out of the corner of her eye were The Balance was performed and was now glaring at the balcony with a vicious anger.
The 3 ponies at the ledge tried to make themselves as small as possible. Princess Celestia opened her mouth, as if to yell at Twilight, Shining Armor and Cadence for interfering with royal affairs, but was interrupted by a bright glowing coming from the key. The key was now as large as the hanging chandelier and was now slowly descending, hovering inches from the ground.
His captain instincts taking over, Shining Armor rushed down to key and observed it from a few steps away to make sure it was safe. It was nothing like he had ever seen. It was a beautiful, eligent design, rivaling the majestic beauty of The castle design itself. Shining Armor snapped out of his day dream when the key began to ascend from the ground,
He didn't get the opportunity to get a closer look, when the key launched out the nearest window in the room and raced into the city. Twilight, Cadence, Shining Armor, the Princesses, and a few guards chased it outside, after having to postpone the discussion (battle) for obvious reasons, and followed it to somewhere In the middle of The town square.
They all came to a sudden stop when they had reached there destination, they were all shocked where the key had few off to........Canterlot Tower.
(Inside Canterlot Tower)
The key slowy came to a stop at the chamber that rested in the tower. Finally at the chamber's door, it came to a halt and glowed brighter than ever before. As if on cue, the doors slowy creaked open revealing the case that contained the elements of harmony. The case then unlocked and fell to the marble floor, revealing the 6 elements, completely vulnrable to the key floating mere inches away. The 6 elements then formed a vertical ring infront of the key, and began to spin slowly at first, soon speeding up in a matter of seconds. As they spun faster, a small hole was created; a key hole. Siezing the oppurtunity, a beam was shot from the tip of the key directly into the hole, which began to grow larger and larger until it fit the shape of chamber door perfectly, presenting a portal.
Having served it's purpose, the key dematerialize, becoming a mist; the mist entering the door way into the darkness of the portal. The Elements Of Harmony ceased their spinning, falling to the floor with a number a 'clanking' sounds that echoed throughout the room.
It was silent in the tower, not a Sound could be heard. The portal still open and motionless. If you looked straight into it, you could see beautiful stars gleeming in the darnkess, as if it was a portal directly into space. The sound of wind broke the silence, as activity began to stir within the doorway. The surface of the portal began to trickle like dripping water into a still pond.
The trickling came to a stop as a white hoof stepped onto the carpet of the floor....

(Outside the tower taking place at the same time as the previous part)
Everypony stood still at the massive door to Canterlot Tower. Twilight took a few steps closer and was immedietly stopped by a hoof presented infront of her.
"Explain". Princess Celestia demanded with a bitter tone.
Twilight exchanged nervous glances back at Shining Armor and Cadence in hope that they could lend a hoof.
"Well".....

After what seemed like hours of explanation, The princess had heard enough and was trying to think of the 3's punishment.
"You 3 are lucky there is another matter to attend to at this moment, if Nothing were to stop me, your punishments would be executed at this moment, but since that is not the case, it will have to wait". Celestia declared.
The 3 ponies before her looked like pathetic children being scolded by their mother becuase they had messed up big time. Celestia looked to Luna who was clearly still holding her grudge, but fortunatley had a moment of equal minding, to decide the ponies fate with her sister.
"Very well, let us proceed inside" Luna announced to the guards, who saluted in return.

The front door slowy creaked open, as Shining Armor popped his head in to take a quick peek to make sure the area was secure. When he anounced that it was all clear, the princess slowy proceeded into the tower cautiously, unkowing of what they might find. Twilight and Cadence shortly following.
One step at a time, everpony made their way to the door of the element's chamber shocked to find it open, and more shocked to see the Elements of Harmony laying on the floor like garbage.
Luna, having respect to old customs and traditions, picked up the elements in her hooves, holding them like she would a small foal.
"I.....don't understand" Cadence spoke up, "what happened to the key, how did it open the chamber to the elements and a better question, why did whoever did this just....leave em' here"?
Everypony was startled to hear a light chuckling from 2 figures, sitting on a chandlier above the chamber.
"ehheh, oh we're terribly sorry for our little..... overperforming entrance". Said the white figure.
Next to him was a dark grey figure laughing as much as his companion. "Whats the point of making an entrance if not in style brother"? He asked.
Down below, both the Princesses, backed away slowly, motioning everpony behind them to do the same. They had no idea who they were or what they were dealing with and planned not to find out.
The dark grey figure was the first to notice. "Oh brother it seems we've frightened them, perhaps we should introduce ourselves"?
"Ah, Captial idea my brother.... If they're not gone by now" the white figure replied.
Slowy, the 2 figures descened from the chandlier and presented themselves to their hosts. Once they came into light, they were revealed to be 2 MALE alicorns, which brought an aghast expression to everypony's face.
The first to speak was the white alicorn who was as tall as Celestia, wearing blue armor and a helm allowing his horn to show, sky blue mane and eyes, with an amazing triangular sapphire stone with music notes encircling it as a cutie mark.
"Ahem, greetings friends, my name is Septimus, I am the spirit of unity and honor". He announced pridefully, "And it is a great honor to be in your presence". He spoke humbly.
His brother, who was taller than both Celestia and Septimus stepped up to speak. He had a dark grey coat, wearing black silver armor, his mane, eyes and tail color were red. His cutie mark being similar to his brother's, a square shaped ruby with gold keys encircling it. He also wore an odd helm, the thing that was odd about it was that altough he had a unicorn horn, the helm displayed 2 horns in a downward position, like a bull's horns put upside down.
"I am the great Alduin, Spirit of the duty and power ". He said, his head raised high and then respectfully bowing, "It is a pleasure to meet you all".
Septimus was the one to professionally introduce themselves.
"We are the Brothers Of the Balance".

The princesses were frozen in place, for the first time in eons, here stood not one, but TWO male alicorns in equestria. Beside the 3 princesses, no other alicorns existed in equestria let alone male alicorns. Even Cadence was in awe at the sight of the brothers. Not a word was spoken for a few minutes, setting an akward mood for the 2 brothers.
Septimus looked to his brother, then back to the ponies thinking that they might have not heard well "Err, I...am Septimus spirit of-
"N-not necessary Septimus, we heard you the first time". Celestia interrupted a bit harshly. The princess could not tell whether or not these 2 were a threat in anyway, and wasnt taking any chances, keeping her distance.
"Watch your tongue mare". Alduin shot back, "The lad simply was trying to make mere converstion, and does not deserve your condesending tone".
Alduin clearly seemed to be the eldest of the brothers on account of his size compared to Septimus and his overprotectivness of his sibling.
"Forgive her brother, she knows not what we are or why we are here and she is simply being protective". Septimus looked to Celestia, then to Luna. "Let us start over perhaps".
"My brother and I are humbled to be here, may we have the honor of knowing your names"?
The ponies before them looked at each other nervously before Twilight spoke up to break the ice, against her teacher's wishes.
"H-hello.... Uh, my name is Twilight Sparkle, This is Princess Celestia, princess Luna, and princess Cadence, and my brother, Shining Armor, Captain of the Royal Guard". She said, nervously.
"There was that so difficult"? Alduin bantered
"I suppose......not". Replied Celestia, defeated by her student's good mannerism.
Luna was more curious than ever and had a certain Pinkie Pie eagerness to barage them with questions.
With all her confidence she dashed up to the brothers, messing with their manes, wings, hoofs, just begging to know more about them.
"I'vveverseenalicornssuchasyourselves,wereareyoufrom,youcan'tbefromequestria,howdidyougethere"? (i've never seen such alicorns such as yourselves, were are you form, you cant be from equestria, how did you get here)? " I have so many questi-
She was cut off when she was picked up by her sister's magic as she flailed around, desperate to escape and get back to the brothers.
"Forgive her, she can get quite.....messy, around strangers, especially other alicorns". Celestia explained, perhaps we can talk someplace more private"?
Septimus and Alduin nodded in agreement as they all walked to the castle. Celestia still holding luna in her magic, Shining Armor discussing with Alduin about responsibilities and Cadence trying to get to know Septimus better. Twilight walked behind everypony with one question floating in her mind,
"Brothers...? Of... the Balance"?

Canterlot Hospitality
(perspective Twilight Sparkle)
The sun had already made it's descent and it was now nightime. There was still akwardness flying through the air as we reached Canterlot Castle, I was still walking behind everypony trying to figure out what had gone so wrong. We entered the royal throne room as the princesses sat at their thrones with the brothers standing before them. Princess Celestia and Alduin were in deep discussion."
"Right then" Princess Celestia began, "We welcome you to Equestria, but as it's rulers, we must know all your intentions to ensure that you will not be a problem while you are here". She said.
Luna was still really, I mean REALLY upset about the court earlier, and looked at Princess Celestia with disgust for adressing 2 important alicorns like common ponies.
"Please do not take this personal, we are only watching over our subjects". Princess luna tried to sugercoat her sister's words.
Alduin and Septimus looked at each other with discomfort and confusion.
"Our intentions"? Alduin asked.
I feared for the worst when I realized why the spell performed with mixed results. The Balance wasn't a spell to unite 2 ponies, it was a spell to SUMMON 2 ponies, specifically, Septimus and Alduin. As far as we knew, the spell had been a success. I knew that we were to blame for this accident and Shining Armor and Cadance would suffer because of my childish behavior and tampering.
"I assure you Princess, it was not by our intentions, that we arrived in Equestria". Said Septimus with determination.
The princess looked over to us with an angry glare then looked back to Septimus.
"I cannot blame you for that Septimus". Celestia admitted. "But i still need to know more before we can truly trust you".
"Very well". Alduin replied reluctantly.
The 2 brothers looked at each other, nodded and summoned their magic to tell their tale by a display of magic, showing us images of their life. Finally some answers...
Lights filled the royal throne room and being nightime outside, added more affect.
Alduin began,
"Together, my brother and I form the Balance, a way of life in which creation cannot exist. My brother, spirit of Unity and Honor, and myself, spirit of power and duty. Septimus and I are spiritually one form of magic, we are connected and act as one. One unable to exist without the other. We are the overseerers of reality, we level out two sides of the universe creating the Balance as your world knows it".
The room was filled with beams of magic, almost like the northern lights, images of Alduin and Septimus flew threw the air, we could see the stars, and the very sun and moon that the princesses themesleves controlled. We were all moved at the beautiful lights and the story of their history, but there was more.
"But". Septimus continued, " Now that we have been brought to the mortal world, we know not of how it will affect us. No offence to you all, but mortality is infamous for it's natural ability of corruption, in which my brother and I are powerless against, this is why we do not belong to here".
Alduin continued from where Septimus left off. "If my brother and I do not return to our world, one of us could unfortunatley become corrupted, destroying the Balance with you all along with it".
We all listened very carefully, like ponies around a camp fire.
The show then ended, all lights disappearing, and throne room lights resumed. All of us still curious, Celestia was the first to ask questions, "Although you are now here, do you still posses your abilities"?
"But of course", Septimus replied, "We can control the balance from anywhere in the universe, which is why it would be devastating for one of us to become corrupted by your world...no offense".
"You mentioned coming here, not part of your intentions"? Luna asked.
"She just had to ask".
"Yes well, it seems we have been summoned here by ancient equestrian magic, a magic that we thought no longer existed". Alduin responed.
The truth finally dawned, Celestia had witnessed us cast the spell and knew this was all our fault. Shining, Candence and I backed away like cowards, afraid to face the princess.
"Then i have misjudged", Celestia spoke up, "You clearly have no intentions of doing any harm and you are permitted to take your leave if you desire, I have....buisness, to attend to". She said, still glaring at us.
The brothers looked at each other again with uneasiness.
"You mean.......you...cant return us"? Septimus asked, panic in his tone.
"I beg your pardon"? Luna asked.
"Unfortunately, we where forced to come here, princesses....we dont know why or how this was possible and we dont know how to travel back and forth to our demension" Alduin informed.
Princess Celestia thought long and hard about this and finally spoke.
"Very well then, you have my permission to stay here at the castle until you can find your way back to wherever you came from. Since you 2 are both alicorns, you are considered royalty and I will alert our subjects of your presence. My student, Twilight Sparkle will aid you in anyway". She declared, shooting eyes at me.
I knew at that moment, that THAT was my punishment. Yet, I feared what Cadance and Shining would undergo.
The brothers bowed at the princess's generosity, but Septimus had somthing else in mind.
"We are grateful to your offer princess, but tommorow, with your permission of course, I would like to see Equestria with my own eyes". Septimus asked.
"Granted, I have no problem with your request. If you wish, Twilight Sparkle can give you a tour of Canterlo-
-Actually, i think i will have the honor of taking care of this myself sister". Luna interrupted
"Luna, you and i still have matters to discuss, i strongly advise tha-
-A marvalous idea indeed"! Septimus shouted out."I would be thrilled to have the lovely Princess by my side"!
Princess Luna blushed fiercely.
Reluctant at first, the Princess agreed to letting Princess Luna join Septimus, thinking that Luna would enjoy herself and clear her mind before the next court session.
"So be it, In the morning, my sister will fetch you for your little date through the city". Princess Trollestia joked. Septimus and Luna blushed deeply.
"And what of you Alduin"? Luna asked, "What will you do during your stay"?
"With all do respect, I think I will just focus on trying to get back home". Alduin declared. Everypony was deflated at that moment. Noticing, Alduin had no choice.
"But....I would...Love to walk around the castle for a bit, see what it's like to have a royal life i guess, learning about pony lifestyle sounds fascinating". Alduin said, trying to bring everypony's spirits up.
"Splendid". Princess Celestia continued, "My captain will show you both to your chambers were you can rest till tommorow. But for now, I bid you 2 goodnight". After speaking, she along with Princess luna took their leave, Luna gently waving to Septimus, Septimus returning the wave.
Shining Armor approached the brothers to escort them to their rooms, "Right this way my lords"
Alduin noticed Luna's wave to his younger brother and couldnt help but tease him a little. "Hehehe be careful there lad". He warned.
"Corruption can come in many forms and in many shapes and curves". Alduin joked, winking at his younger brother.
"Yeah.....shapes and curves.....shapes and...WHAT"?! Septimus yelled, snapping out of his trance. Alduin only laughed more. My brother couldn't help but giggle a little.
"I remember when the older guards used to tease me like that about Cadence". He thought, blushing.
Cadence and I were about to sneak out of the throne room but failed when Princess Celestia teleported infront of us, blocking our exit. We jumped back in fear
"As for you 2". She said, with evilish humor. "Do not think that I have forgotten your little experiment, you still have a punishment. You along with Shining Armor will meet me in my Study tommorow evening".
We nodded humbly and nervously but thinking that it was over, Cadence and I started to walk away when we were stopped again by the Princess.
"After...of course you keep an eye on my sister tommorow on here date". She added, a grin on her face".
"Tommorw"?! Cadence groaned like a teenager who had been given a chore by her aunt.
"Date"? I asked curiously.
"Yes tommorow, and yes her date. Come now, dont tell me you both didn't see the way they both looked at each, they clearly like each other. I've seen this before". She said winking at Cadence.
"Ohhhh". Cadence and I both said then giggled, along with the princess like some highschool fillies.
Then the Princess became serious. "If everything goes perfect between those 2, it might aid Luna in forgeting about her frustration".
We nodded.
"Oh and Twilight, you might want to invite your friends over, you might be here for a couple more days". After that, the Princess teleported back to her chambers for the night.
-Well...I guess we should get some rest too Cadence. Got a big day tommorow...
"Alright, see ya tommorow Twilight".
