The Concert

Fluttershy sat impatiently as she observed the three wonder-bolts preform across the sky. The croud was only growing louder as the three ponies dazzled the audience with their unbeatable feats. Even though the young pegasus felt bored, she couldn't help but admit that their performance was extraordinary. Her friend Rainbow Dash seemed to agree, as she was cheering and stamping her hooves against the ground in her approval. Fluttershy began to wish she hadn't gone. Put the loud sounds of the performers, the sound of the crowd, and the cheers of the fanatic next to her and you have a perfect recipe for ear damage.

Though she felt out of place in the crowd, she was still glad that she came for Rainbow Dash's sake. Rainbow had been a wreck for the past few days and seemed almost as happy as Pinkie Pie when she had offered to purchase the tickets. That warm smile brought butterflies to the shy pony's tummy. She wasn't exactly sure what it was about that moment that made her tingly. Maybe it was the smile on her face, or perhaps when Dash had hugged her so tight that she had a hard time breathing for a brief moment in time. Or it was just the fact that she hadn't seen Rainbow that happy in years. It reassured her that Rainbow Dash would feel better after these few days.

It was probably the loss of Tank that was tugging at her heartstrings that was bringing her down but Fluttershy didn't know what was going on in Rainbow's mind.

"Isn't this amazing, Flutters," Rainbow Dash asked, turning her head to face Fluttershy while glimpsing slowly back at the sky. Fluttershy shook her head to regain her composure, which Dash had mistaken for 'no.'

"Oh," Rainbow sighed, looking at the grass slowly, a look of disappointment scribbled across her cyan face.

Fluttershy immediately faced Rainbow, panic plastered on her pale face. She feared that she had ruined Dash's happy mood. "No, no, no," Fluttershy exclaimed in a rush. "I was shaking my head because I was kinda' lost in my own little world. Sorry."

Rainbow Dash placed a hoof on Flutters's shoulder, igniting a bright red blush to appear on the shy one's face. Fluttershy's face flushed even redder when she realized that Dash wasn't moving. The butterflies from yesterday returned to her stomach. She felt awkward. What Dash was doing was awkward; the whole situation was awkward.

For a split second Fluttershy could've sworn she saw Rainbow Dash yawn. "Are you tired, Dash," Fluttershy asked in a caring tone. Rainbow Dash turned to face her, her majenta eyes half lidded.

"Kinda'" Rainbow admitted as another yawn escaped her lips. Fluttershy began to try to stand when Dash's head fell onto her lap. Fluttershy squeaked in surprise. Fluttershy fumbled with her curly mane, seeing nothing else to do. Being shy and timid, she didn't request for Rainbow to move. She couldn't help but admire how cute Rainbow was when she slept. Her rainbow mane was covering closed eyes and her wings were folded gently to their sides. Her messy tail trailed down Fluttershy's forelegs in a bumbled up mess. After several moments of sitting alone in the cool grass, Rainbow Dash whispered something to Flutters.

"I love you, Flutters," she slurred, curling up and retracting her front legs.

Fluttershy's eyes shot open. "W-What," Flutters inquired timidly. She couldn't have said what I thought she did.. Fluttershy thought.

"I love you.. That's that," Rainbow added. Fluttershy's face became flushed. She was stuck lying there, waiting for the rainbow-maned pegasus to awaken. Left with only her thoughts, she began to drift off. She felt the cool wind tickle her ears as her mane was guided with it's gently movements. On the brink of consciousness, the world around her began to become silent as her eyelids enclosed her turquoise eyes. The world around her darkened and sleep welcomed her with it's warm tender grasp.

Fluttershy came to, expecting to awaken to her warm covers and her annoying alarm clock which would buzz an obnoxious sound to wake her. Yet this morning she wasn't awaken to that; in fact she wasn't awoken by anything. She awoke to her own consent. Her eyes slowly opened to see roses inches from her muzzle, flowers covered the grassy land. It was beautiful. Birds flew all around her, singing in the most beautiful voice in which she's ever heard. The sounds welcomed her and brought a warm smile to her face. All of her animal friends rushed around in delight. This place felt like paradise. The young mare galloped around fluttering her wings to the slow pace of the wind. While playing around, she found herself running up a hill. At the top perched her dear friend, Rainbow Dash. Fluttershy's fun galloping ceased as she stared up at her friend. Dash walked down the hill slowly, inch by inch coming closer to the young timid pony. When Dash was in front of her, the world just seemed to stop. Her flushed face met Dash's. Rainbow nuzzled her gently and planted a kiss on Fluttershy's forhead. Her eyes widened as she stared into Dash's magenta ones in awe. Rainbow moved in for a kiss, Fluttershy just stood. Their lips met and Fluttershy felt a feeling of desire.

"Fluttershy," Rainbow Dash cooed after ending the kiss. "Will you go out with me?"

Fluttershy smiled giddily. "Oh, yes, Rainbow," she exclaimed, "I love you!" The two moved in for a second kiss when Fluttershy woke up. She questioned everything, looking to the right, then the left. In a sudden realization, Fluttershy covered her mouth to stifle a gasp. She realized that she loved Rainbow Dash. Her feelings may have been new, but they were strong. She looked next to her, and Dash's sleeping body was there, leaving Flutters with a very difficult decision.
