Not So Sweet For Me
I smell… Frosting, Muffins, Cake, Brownies, Pancakes, Crepes, Milkshakes… I smell a bakery… I wake up to such smells every day. I work with them all the time, and I fall asleep to ideas for them too. They make everypony feel so much better and even happier when they eat them. Everypony… But me. All of these baked goods make me sick with all of that sugar I put into them, the frosting especially. Yet, I still love them because they make others happy, laugh and sometimes even dance around. It’s a joy seeing ponies laugh and smile because it makes ME laugh and smile. I fake it all the time, and I’m really glad I’m not the element of honesty or…. Well I wouldn’t be able to make ponies as happy anymore! I don’t know why sugary baked goods make me sick, they just do! I remember as a filly seeing my family eat a rock candy cake and smiling so big and wide I thought it’d be delicious just by looking at them! But… then I took a bite myself and excused myself immediately to throw up in the bathroom. They asked what was wrong but I didn’t want to ruin their smiles, their laughter! So I told them I was just sick because I ate a random mushroom outside somewhere. They chuckled and called me silly like everypony else does and shrugged it off when I told them I was feeling fine now. Every single day after that, I felt miserable and lonely. Why did I not like cake? Is something wrong with me? Am I just a broken pony? Then I felt something, something amazing. A huge rumble in the sky that shook me awake from my daydreaming and misery. I saw a beautiful rainbow explosion in the sky and realized something. I don’t need to like it, if everypony else does! I love seeing them all smile, and love hearing their laughter. I want to do nothing more than bring my family and those all around me joy. So the next day I threw my first party. I was so nervous! I hoped my family would love my surprise party, and they did! Next thing I know I have a cutie mark on me and it felt good. So here I am, waking up in a bakery filled with sugary treats and pastries. The things that make me sick are all around me, but as long as parties need sugary goodness and make people happy, Pinkie Pie will do whatever it takes to get those smiles and laughter! Even if I do get sick from them every now and then…
Later that Day
“Oh Twilight!” I yelled out as I saw her come in.
“Hello Pinkie Pie! How’s my favorite baker doing today? Oh and can I get a strawberry cupcake surprise?” she said smiling while walking towards the counter.“Today has been so very scrumptious so far! And of COURSE you can Twilight!” “Thank you Pinkie! I’m glad your day has been going so well. I’ve been trying out a new spell. Apparently Spike is sick and I want to know when he’s about to throw up using it. This way I’ll have the maximum amount of time to get him a bucket and get my cleaning spell ready and charged up if he misses it!“ Wow Twilight! That sounds really smart and stuff! OH! I made a new cupcake today! It’s flavor is Strawberry Cinnamon Cilantro!” “That sounds absolutely disgusting Pinkie! Have you even tried it?”“Well no… Oh! I can do it now!” I said as I dreadfully shoved the cupcake into my mouth.
It was honestly not too horrible because the many weird flavors distracted me from the sugary frosting but… Then I caught a big chunk of frosting and wiped it all off my tongue before tasting it completely.
“I guess even I mess up sometimes when it comes to cupcakes huh Twilight?”
Twilight giggles and says, “I guess so Pinkie, I think you should stick to regular cupcake flavors huh?” she then proceeds to wipe some frosting off of her cupcake and puts it in my mouth.
I almost threw up there and then. I put a TON of sugar in strawberry cupcake surprises because they would be so bitter without it. I forced it down and dealt with it, like always while commenting. “MMmmmm you’re so right Twilight!” Twilight looked at me strangely for a second and replied “Huh, that’s weird”
“What do you mean Twi?” I said as I tried to stop myself from spitting out what was left in my mouth.
“I left my spell on that I mentioned earlier and I sensed that… You felt like throwing up right now”
“That must be that strawberry cinnamon cilantro cupcake, it WAS very disgusting”
“But It only went off when I put that frosting from my cupcake into your mou—“
Oh no!
“Uh well, I’m going to see what Rarity thinks of that cupcake I made!”
Twilight looks at me with a concerned face but nods anyways.“Alright! Later Twilight! Mr. Cake? Can you watch the counter for me? I want to take my break now to show my friend this AMAZING cupcake!”Mr. Cake looks around the corner and laughs. “Sure Pinkie, maybe she will like it even if it made me sick”
Unknown to me, Twilight watches me as I go with the same concerned face."Why would Pinkie Pie feel like throwing up after eating some of my cupcakes frosting? It tastes fine to me… I must find out the reason!"
Okay, I think I got away. Whew, she almost found out I don't like cupcakes! I don't want ponies to know that I hate the things that give them joy! They might not want me to bake something I hate. I want to make them all happy though! Parties always have cakes or SOME kind of dessert, and I am a CRAZY party pony who loves to make ponies laugh... That's right! I'll do anything to make others laugh and smile! Oh there's the mailpony! I'm sure he'd like these cupcakes! I mean, somepony has to right?
