Chapter 1: Welcome to Equestria
My eyes slowly opened after seeing that bright light that came out of nowhere. I know you’re all probably wondering to whom I am. My name is Drew. Let’s just say I’m an awesome warrior with the powers of a dragon. Along my side is my buddy Thuban. He’s basically a large flying, fire breathing dragon.
I looked to my right and saw my friend getting up and growling after that light sucked us into wherever the hell we ended up.
“You okay big guy?” I asked.
He growled at me, telling me he was okay. Yeah, I can understand him. Since he and I have a close bond, and since I have the powers of a dragon, I’m the only one who can understand him. He’s also infused with Artificial Intelligence, that allows me to command him to help me in battle.
I nodded to him and looked to see if I had everything before we were sucked here. I had my sword, my shield, arrows, mines, yep. I still had everything. I looked at my headphones to be sure they weren’t damaged. I can’t live without my music.
After checking up on everything and checking my dragon for any injuries, I scanned my eyes through my new surroundings. We seen to be in some kind of dense, lush forest.
“Come on big guy. We need to figure out where we landed.” I said to my loyal friend.
He growled in response and followed me. We walked through the forest for quite a bit, exploring our newest surroundings. I had to say, this place looked very peaceful, different to the other places we’ve journeyed through Draconis.
Finally, we arrived at what looks like to be some kind of small cottage. I didn’t know if the local here was afraid of dragons, but I better stay on the safe side.
“Stay here big guy. I don’t any trouble brewing, k?” I asked my friend.
Thuban nodded and laid down, staying out of sight.
After he was hidden in the dense of the forest, I walked forward to the cottage. As I got closer, I saw many bird houses everywhere, along with many animals running around. Whoever lives here must be obsessed when it comes to loving and taking care of animals.
I then heard the sounds of humming in the back and decided to check it out. When I reached the corner and turned, my eyes widened in shock.
What I was seeing, was some kind of human/horse. The girl had yellow skin, light pink hair that fell to her waist, wore a yellow sweater with jeans and had blue eyes. She was kneeling down and feeding her chickens.
“There you are. Enjoy.” She said in a very sweet voice.
I was still processing to what I was seeing. Out of all the craziness I’ve witnessed on my journey with Thuban, this was one that took the cake.
The girl rose and turned around and was now face to face with me, just a few inches away from me. Her blue eyes widened in shock and her mouth dropped.
Neither of us moved for the first minute, that was until I stepped forward a little.
She ‘eeped’ in surprise and tried to back up, but ended up falling and started backing away from me.
“Whoa whoa whoa, take it easy. I’m not gonna hurt you.” I said waving my hands in front of me.
Her eyes widened again, probably not knowing I could talk.
“You...c-c-c-can...t-t-talk?” She asked in a whisper.
“Yeah, I can talk.” I said. “Listen, you don’t need to be afraid. I’m not gonna hurt you.”
She started to relax a little, but what still somewhat afraid of me.
“I-I’s sorry. I’m just really shy.” She whispered hiding her face in some of her hair.
“Nah. You don’t have to apologize. It’s all cool.” I assured putting my hands behind my head. “What’s your name?”
“I’m...f-flu…” She whispered so silently.
“What was that?” I asked moving a bit closer to her.
“I’m...flut...shy.” She whispered again, but still couldn’t make out to what her name was.
“Come on now. I’m not gonna bite.” I said softly trying to make her comfortable around me.
She looked up at me again, and I gave her a friendly smile, which worked, because she pushed some more of her hair out of the way and smiled a little.
“It’s Fluttershy.” She whispered, but this time I heard her.
“Nice to meet you Fluttershy. Names Drew.” I greeted.
“N...Nice to meet you too...D-Drew.” She said smiling.
“Hey Fluttershy, I would like to ask, what are you?” I asked.
“I’m a pony.” She answered.
“I see.” I said knowing. I’ve never seen a pony like her before. If that’s the case...I’m not in Draconis anymore.
“Umm...i-if you don’t mind me asking...what are you?” She asked shyly.
“Oh, I’m a human.” I answered smiling.
Her eyes once again went big and her jaw dropped. “But...But I thought Humans were just a myth.”
“Myth?”
“Humans have never been seen before, and are spoken to be mythical creatures. This is...amazing.” Her eyes looked over me a little, until they landed on my dragon arm.
“Oh my, what happened to your arm?” She asked.
“Huh?” I looked at my dragon arm, knowing it was what she was asking me. “Oh, don’t worry about it. This is normal for me.”
“Are you sure. I’ve never seen anything like this before.” She said eyeing my arm.
“It’s normal. This arm gives me powerful abilities, such as giving me information on my enemies, firing pulse energy blasts and healing my friend.” I explained.
“That’s amazing. You mentioned you have a friend right? Where is she or he...if you don't mind me asking?” She asked shyly.
Jesus, she’s so shy and adorable. “He’s hiding for the moment. I didn’t want him to follow me cause any trouble.”
“Why’s that?”
“Well…” I literally didn’t know if I should show her that my friend is a dragon or lie to her. I sighed. “If I show you, can you please not freak out?”
She cocked her head in confusion, but nodded shyly.
“Okay, come with me.” I jestered.
She followed me to the entrance of her home and then I whistled.
“Come on out Big Guy!” I shouted.
The sound of growling came out and the land shifted a little, and Thuban emerged from the shadows.
Fluttershy immediately ‘eeped’ and hid behind me, cowering before my friend.
“Fluttershy?”
“Y-y-y-you n-never t-t-told m-me y-y-your f-friend was a d-d-d-d-d-d-dragon.” She whispered in fear.
“It’s okay. Thuban would never hurt you.” I assured.
I returned my attention to my dragon and it growled at me.
“Good to see you to big guy.” I said smiling.
I heard Fluttershy crying behind me. Wow, she must be afraid of dragons that badly.
“Hey. It’s alright. He’s a good dragon. He would never hurt anyone.” I said trying to help her understand Thuban is not a threat.
“I’m scared.” She whimpered.
“I’ll show you he’s not a threat. If want to, you can stay by me.” I said smiling.
Her cheeks had a tint of pink to them, but she nodded and we advanced towards Thuban. As we got closer, he was eyeing her with curiosity.
“Easy bud. She’s not a threat.” I said to my dragon.
He growled in response, telling me okay.
We finally got at least two feet to him and I gently placed my hand on his snout and rubbed it, making him purr a little. He was now calm and started looking at Fluttershy, who was still somewhat scared of him.
“He want’s to get a better look at you.” I said.
She poked her head out more, getting a better look at him.
Thuban leaned closer to her and sniffed her a bit. He then nuzzled her, telling her he won't hurt her.
“See? What I tell ya?” I said smiling.
“This...this is amazing.” She whispered in awe and then started petting him, much to his delight. “Wow.”
“Cool isn’t it. Me and Thuban go way back, right bud?”
He growls, saying yeah.
“You can understand him?” She asked me in shock.
“Yeah, I have the blood of a dragon within me, so I’m basically the only person who can understand him.” I explained.
“That’s so amazing.”
Thuban the turned his head at the distance and growled viciously.
“What is it big guy?” I asked, seeing the changes of his attitude.
Suddenly, a roar was heard in the distance. It was the sound of a powerful creature.
“That came from ponyville.” Fluttershy said afraid.
“Well, we better get over there.” I said and climbed on Thuban. “Quick, get on.”
“You mean...on the dragon?” She asked shaking a little.
“If we need to get there fast, flying is the best option.” I explained.
Fluttershy seemed hesitated for a moment, but she gently took her step on Thuban and sat behind me.
“I promise I won't let you fall. Just hang on tight.” I said smiling.
Another blush was shown on her cheeks. “O-okay.”
I nodded. “Let’s fly big guy!” I said patting my dragon.
He roared and took off in the skies and flew forward to the source of the roars.
“WOOOOOOOOOO!!!” I shouted feeling the wind blow through my face, while Fluttershy clinged onto me for dear life.
We flew a few miles, until we finally reached our destination. In the small town, a large yellow, five-headed creature was spotted.
“That’s a hydra!” Fluttershy said shocked.
“I take you know this beast right?” I asked.
“Sort of. They live in swamps, but they never come to ponyville.” She explained.
“Hang on. Coming in for a landing.” I said.
Thuban landed in the center of the town and roared announcing his arrival.
“Woo! That’s what I call a landing.” I said jumping off of my friend, with Fluttershy following suit.
The Hydra growled at me and Thuban, interrupting her invasion of the town. All of the ponies were eyeing me and Thuban with wonder, shock and some scared, probably because of Thuban being a dragon.
“Fluttershy, you go and find cover. Me and Thuban will handle this.” I said.
“But...but you’ll-” I stopped her by placing my hand on her shoulder.
“Don’t worry about me. I can handle myself. Besides, I’ve dealt with way worse.” I reassured smiling.
Her cheeks went a tad pink again. “O-okay.” She ran off to a safe spot, leaving me, Thuban with this beast.
Thuban growled, ready to sink his teeth into this freak.
“Okay bud, time for a little fun.” I said. I placed my headphones on, and my my music started up. I withdrew my sword, and got to my battle stance. I waved my hand, and checked the Hydra, seeing how strong she is. She looked pretty strong, and to what I was seeing, it the heads were chopped off, more grow back. Huh, figures in all Hydra.
“Let’s Rock Big Guy!” I shouted and charged, with Thuban Roaring and charging as well.
The Hydra charged as well.
Fluttershy finally got to a safe distance, and witnessed the battle.
“Fluttershy!” She turned and saw her five friends, Applejack, Twilight, Pinkie, Rarity and Rainbow Dash running up to her.
“Thank goodness you’re okay darling.” Rarity said as the girls hugged her.
“I’m okay girls.” Fluttershy said.
“Come on, we gotta find someplace safe.” Twilight said starting to move back a little.
“I can’t.” Fluttershy said, gaining the attention of the five. “I need to be sure he’s okay.”
“Who dear?” Rarity asked.
“Him.” She answered pointing in the distance.
The girls looked and went wide eyed. In the battle, they saw Drew and Thuban fighting the Hydra.
“Who the hay is that?” Rainbow asked looking at the human boy.
“That’s Drew.” She answered.
Back at the battle, Thuban roared at the beast, while she roared back. The mighty dragon swung his body and hit the hydra with a powerful tail attack.
The hydra screamed in surprise and stumbled back and fell to the ground.
Drew jumped off of Thubans head and rose his sword and stabbed the beast in the chest, making her roar in pain. He jumped off and landed on the ground.
The Hydra got and growled at the human. She swung her body and her tail hit Drew, making him send flying.
However, Thuban was there and caught him with his mighty claws.
“Thanks big guy. I owe ya one.” He said and got off.
The dragon growled in response.
“GO!” He shouted pointing at the hydra.
Thuban roared and clashed into the five headed beast. When she stumbled back, the markings and crystals on his body glowed and he fired his signature fire breath attack.
The hydra stumbled back and roared in pain, feeling her scales burn. When the fire died down, the five heads roared in anger. The heads shot forward and bit down on the dragon, on the neck, the arms, and legs and lifted the massive dragon off the ground. She then threw Thuban away and made him crash into a house, roared in pain, and sending bursting wood everywhere.
“THUBAN!” Drew shouted. He felt his own energy slowly draining, feeling the attack himself.
“Okay, no more playing around!” Drew shouted, showing the hydra it was time to get serious.
He shouted and his body changed and his body was covered in scaly armor. He transformed into his dragon armor form.
In the distance, the main six watched in shock, awe and amazement by Drews display of power and teamwork with the dragon.
“What is he?” Twilight thought.
Drew charged, moving faster than before and slashing the Hydra all over her body, leaving marks everywhere. He jumped back and a bow came out of nowhere and he pulled back an arrow he had. He let go and landed a direct hit at one of the Hydra’s heads, causing an explosion.
Drew looked back and saw his ally and friend getting up and shaking off the collision he had earlier. The dragon charged and Drew jumped on his tail.
Knowing what he was planning, Thuban threw his tail up, making drew fly into the air. Then, he threw some kind of yellow mine at the chest and Pulled back another arrow, and fired, The arrow made contact, and the mine exploded, causing shock and paralysis throughout the Hydra.
Drew landed on the ground and his Dragon armor form disengaged.
“Mess her up Big Guy!” He shouted at his ally.
Thuban roared and opened his mouth, with fire forming. Then, like a cannon charging, fire and energy formed and the light in Thuban’s mouth brightened. Then, the dragon fired few powerful fireballs.
The Hydra roared in pain, feeling every fireball hit her.
After the fire died down and the smoke cleared, the Hydra whimpered in fear by the two’s teamwork and their incredible power. She turned and ran back to the forest, not wanting to stay for round two.
“WOO HOO! That’s how it’s done!” Drew cheered, and Thuban threw his head in the air and roared in victory.
The ponies hiding from the battle, but were watching were amazed by this boy's display of power and the fact he was working together with a dragon.
Drew breathed heavily, feeling his energy depleted from the fight.
“Bud...I’m gonna take a short nap.” He softly said and then fell to the ground.
Thuban’s eyelids grew heavy and fell to the ground as well, now knocked out with exhaustion.
My eyelids slowly opened, and I was looking up at a white ceiling. I slowly rose my head, and saw I was in some kind of hospital. I saw my sword and shield, and my headphones safe and sound, and I was still wearing my clothing.
I then heard the door opened and saw Fluttershy entering.
“You’re awake.” She said and quickly went up to me and surprised me with a hug.
“Of course I’m okay. It’ll take more to take me down.” I said patting her back.
She then realized what she was doing and quickly let me go with a huge blush forming on her cheeks.
“S-s-sorry. I-I was really worried about you.” She whispered.
I smiled. “Nah, don’t worry about it. It’s really surprising you were concerned about me.”
She smiled at me.
Soon, the door opened again and five other girls entered.
One was a cyan furred girl with wings, a rainbow mane and tail, wearing a white tank top, short blue jeans, and had rosy eyes.
The second had orange fur, was wearing a button up brown shirt, a cowboy hat and short jeans, and emerald colored eyes.
The one beside her was lavender, and had lavender eyes as well. She wore a white shirt, a purple skirt, and had a horn.
There was another pony with a horn as well, but she was white, wore a white dress with a pearl necklace and had blue eyes.
The fifth girl was pink, had dark pink hair, wore a white shirt with light blue streaks and a short white skirt.
“Hello girls.” Fluttershy greeted.
“Hey Flutters. I see your friend is awake.” The rainbow haired girl said. “You gonna introduce us?”
“Oh, yes. Drew, these are my friends. This is Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash.”
“Nice to meet all of you.” I greeted smiling.
Pinkie Pie then lunged onto me, making me yelp in surprise. “Hi It’s nice to meet you. Do you like parties, I like parties? Heck, who doesn’t like parties. I’m gonna throw you a ‘thank you for saving ponyville from the hydra party’. Do you-WOAH!”
“Shimmer down Sugarcube.” Applejack said pulling the hyper pink girl back. “Sorry about Pinkie. She loves meeting new ponies.”
I smiled. “Nah, she’s cool. It’s nice to see someone with a smile.”
“See everypony. He isn’t a party pooper.” Pinkie said sticking her tongue at them.
I chuckled.
“By the way, what are you? Some kind of alien?” Rainbow asked.
“Rainbow Dash! Show the poor Colt some respect! After all, he saved our town from that Hydra!” Rarity yelled.
“Okay okay. Jeez.”
“Umm...he’s a human girls.” Fluttershy answered.
“Don’t be ridiculous Fluttershy. Humans are just a myth.” Twilight answered.
“Actually, Fluttershy is right. I am a human.” I said smiling, causing Twilight’s eyes to go wide and her mouth dropping.
“Y-y-you’re a h-h-human?” She asked surprised.
I nodded.
“Egghead mode in 3...2...1.” Rainbow said.
Like that, Twilight squealed in shock and joy.
“Oh my Celestia! This is a HUGE turning point in the history of Equestria! We have just made contact with a creature that has been thought to be only a myth, I have to record this!” Twilight said as she quickly scribbled down everything that was happening with her quill.
“I have a few questions. What’s with the sword and other stuff you’re carrying?” Rainbow asked pointing at my stuff.
“I carry it around with me since a lot of enemies appear wherever I go.” I answered.
“Are you a knight in shining armor?” Rarity asked with her eyes sparkling.
“Well, if you add the sword, fighting freaks, and monsters, I guess you can say that.” I answered.
“At long last! My knight has finally come to sweep me off my hooves!” Rarity said dramatically with a starry look in her eyes.
“She goes over high hooves with romantic stories and knights.” Applejack said, causing me to chuckle.
“Nah. I’m used to this sort of thing back in Draconis.” I said.
“What’s Draconis?” Twilight asked.
“Draconis is my home, where I was born.” I answered, making Twilight scribbling it down.
“I have another question, what’s wrong with your arm?” Twilight asked pointing at my dragon arm.
“I got this arm a long time ago. It gives me powerful abilities, such as giving me information on my enemies, firing pulse energy blasts and healing Thuban.” I explained.
“Who’s Thuban?” Applejack asked.
“Hahahaha! Thuban. That's a funny name.” Pinkie said giggling.
“Thuban is the dragon I was fighting along side with during the battle.” I said, causing Pinkies laughter to silence immediately.
The others, besides Fluttershy, have worried looks.
“Something wrong?” I asked.
“Well, Ponies in Ponyville are not good when it comes to Dragons.” Twilight answered.
“It’s okay girls, Thuban is actually a nice Dragon.” Fluttershy said smiling.
“Wait, you actually went up to the dragon?” Rainbow asked surprised.
“Umm...y-yes.” She answered shyly.
“When did that happen?” Pinkie asked.
“Well, it happened when Drew and I met a while back before we arrived here in Ponyville.” She answered.
“You’re friends with a dragon?” Rainbow asked me.
“Yep. Me and Thuban go way back. He and I are great friends.” I said smiling.
“That...is...AWESOME!” She shouted.
“How can you be friends with a dragon? It’s impossible.” Twilight said dumbstruck.
“Thuban isn’t like any dragon you might know. He’s infused with Artificial Intelligence, that allows me to command him to help me in battle.” I explained, causing Twilight to scribble that down.
“That’s incredible.” She said amazed.
“That’s not all, whenever Thuban gets hurt, I feel the pain he feels. If he dies...I die as well.” I explained, causing the girls to gasp in shock.
“My word.” Rarity said shocked.
“He and I have a powerful bond. If he goes down fighting, I go with him as well.” I said.
“You really are a knight in shining armor.” Rarity said.
“Where is Thuban now?” I asked.
“The dragon is outside of the hospital. The ponies wouldn’t dare ta near it.” Applejack said.
“I see. Well, might as well wake him up now.” I said getting up from my bed and collecting my things.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea? What if it tried to eat us?” Pinkie asked scared.
“Thuban only attacks those who tend to hurt me or try to kill me. As long as you all don’t plan on killing me, you all have nothing to worry about.” I assured putting my headsets on my neck.
“Shouldn’t you be resting though? You’ve been through a lot since the battle.” Twilight said.
“Nah. A little rest, and I’m good to go.” I said smiling.
I walked out of the room and left the building with the girls following suit. I saw Thuban sleeping near the building like Twilight said.
“Hey, wake up Big Guy!” I called out.
The mighty dragon opened its eyes and yawned and stood up, stretching his wings.
The ponies looked in awe, and fear by the mighty dragon before them.
Drew walked up to the dragon and the beast lowered it head to his height. He gently placed his dragon hand on his snout, and the dragon growled in pleasure.
“How you doing big guy?” Drew asked.
The dragon growled, telling him he’s doing fine.
Fluttershy walked up the mighty dragon, and placed her hand on his snout and rubbed it, much to his delight.
“How are feeling Thuban?” Fluttershy asked.
The dragon growled in response, saying he’s feeling okay, but a little sore.
The rest of the main six was watching the two bonding with the dragon in awe, shock, wonder, and curiosity. All their lives, they never seen anything like this before.
Needless to say, Twilight was actually interested to study more on this dragon. She carefully walked up to the two and spoke. “Drew.”
Drew stopped petting Thuban And looked at the lavender Unicorn.
“I was wondering if I can pet Thuban too.”
Drew smiled. “Sure. Have at it.”
Twilight slowly approached the dragon, while Thuban was looking at her with curiosity. Twilight gently rose her hand and leaned it close to the dragon.
Thuban saw this and was curious to know more about this unicorn. He leaned his head forward, allowing the unicorns hand to rest on his snout.
Twilight was really amazed and was filled with excitement. She never thought she would be petting another dragon. True, she has pet another dragon, which was her number one assistant, but not a huge, adult dragon. She looked at the dragon while she was petting it. The light coal scales, it’s orange underbelly, the green eyes, and especially the green crystal horns and claws.
“Wow.” It was all that came out of her mouth.
“It’s amazing isn’t it?” Fluttershy asked while petting Thuban as well.
“I can’t wait to know more about this dragon.” She said eager to learn more about Thuban.
One by one, each of the main six approached the mighty dragon and started petting it as well, much to Thuban’s delight.
Each of the main six were amazed by this dragon.
Rainbow never thought she would be petting a fully grown dragon. Not to mention the powerful wings it has. She was probably thinking how fast Thuban can fly. If he’s fast, he can be a worthy challenge in a race.
Rarity was admiring the crystals on Thuban’s body, that let out a shine in the sun. Her eyes were glittering in admiration. She was thinking of what kind of outfits and dresses she can make with the crystals.
Applejack was quite impressed that Drew was friends with a fully grown Dragon. She was impressed on how strong it looks. From the way Thuban looks and how healthy he is, she can tell that Drew takes care of Thuban well, and she was impressed with that.
Pinkie was being Pinkie, admiring the dragon from many angles, and she was planning to how she was gonna throw a party for this mighty dragon.
Drew smiled, seeing that the girls are no longer afraid of his ally. He knows for a certain, this will be quite an interesting adventure in this new world.
“Drew.” He looked at Twilight. “Would it be okay if I can ask you some more question back at the Libarary?”
Drew smiled. “Sure.”
Twilight’s face created a huge smile. “Excellent. Please follow me.”
Drew and the others headed off to the Library, with Thuban following suit.
“I don’t know about you big guy, but I have a feeling this will be quite an adventure.” Drew said to Thuban.
The dragon growled, agreeing to his partner.
