The UNSC Golden Harvest has been put through hell as they fight off covenant forces, they win the battle but at the cost of there hyper drive sysytem, they end up coming out of hyper space in a sector that has not been discovered by the UNSC probes.
Fire team Equine is a Spartan fire team led by Captain Alex (Colt) Richards, who has a service record higher then most of the new Spartan units. He is in for a surprise when he finds out that the UNSC Golden Harvest has a hyper drive malfunction that leads them to a new world that has not been discovered filled with walking, talking techno colored ponies, and an army of deadly changelings and one pissed off queen.
Twilight was woken from her sleep as a some what thunderous boom came from outside.
"What was that?" Twilight asked as she rubbed her eyes. "Its probably spike trying to get a late night snack." the lavender alicorn princes said as she got up from her bed to find spike had not gone to get a snack but he was still asleep in his little bed. "He is so adorable when he sleeps." Twilight said as she put on her hoof slippers on. "So what was that sound, Rainbow said that there were no planned thunder storms till two weeks from now." she said as she opened her bedroom door. "It was probably Spit Fire and her flight teams on a midnight training exercise." she thought as she walked back into her room.
"All hands prepare for hyper space." Admiral Saunders ordered as his crew was hard at work completing system checks after a successful battle with a covenant fleet. "Major Faust, status report on the ship please." The Admiral asked as he sat down in his command chair.
"All systems are up and running, FUGIKAWA drives are at forty-five percent and the forward and rear shield generators are at full capacity." Faust said as he handed the admiral a data pad.
"Alright ladies and gentle men lets head back to base for a round of drinks, i'm buying." The admiral said with a smile. "Revert all power the FUGIKAWA drives and lets get on our way." The admiral said as he gave the all ready signal to the crew that it was ok to leave.
"All power has been reverted to the FUGIKAWA drives and all birds and pilots are all accounted for." Faust said as he looked at his corporal and gave him the thumbs up to let him know to relay orders to the crew.
"All hands prepare for hyper space jump, I repeat all hands prepare for jump." Corporal Edwards said over the intercom.
"We are all clear and ready to jump sir." Faust said as he stood next to his CO.
"Lets get going, Sargent Rigger, she is all yours, take us home." Saunders said as he sat back and pulled up the navigational map.
"Avery, plot a course for the nearest refueling station." Faust said as a small holographic boy appeared next to navigational map.
"Plotting a course bro, and can I have a look at the files we recovered from the enemy." Avery asked as he entered the coordinates to the nearest station.
"That data is all yours little buddy." Faust said as he pulled up a holographic file and sent it to the ships AI.
"Thanks big bro." Avery said as disappeared deep into the ships computer system.
"That was intense." one of the Spartans said as they entered the armor station.
"It was fun in my opinion, plus it beats sitting around here all day another said as she put her rifle in her locker.
"What about you sir, how did you enjoy this one." a younger Spartan asked as he got onto the armor removing platform.
"It was pretty standard kid, but besides that it was normal and a lot calmer then most operations I've been apart of." The tallest of the Spartans said as he removed his helmet revealing a stern but calm face with a scar going down the left side of his face cutting through his eye. "Plus Ricochet is right, it beats sitting here all day." The Spartan said as he wiped his tannish face off with the back of his hand.
"Alright guys and girls, report to chow hall and get some food in you and then report back to our quarters and get some sleep." The Spartan said as his chest plate was removed by the mechanical unit that handles all armor.
"You got it boss man." a somewhat smaller Spartan said as he slid his NCU trousers on.
"Not you Kickback, I need you to report to the medical station to get that wound checked out." The taller Spartan said as he playfully rubbed his black friends head.
"I understand sir." Kickback said as he put his boots on.
As the Golden Harvest was in its travel, things started to go wrong. All the reserve power was drained as the ships FUGIKAWA engine strained as its coolant systems failed and all power had been fully cut off from that area. The Golden Harvest pulled out of hyper drive in a strange quadrant that no one has discovered.
"Avery, why the hell did we stop?" Saunders asked as he stood from his chair.
"I think it's the hyper drive sir, it over heated and all coolant and power was drained from the engine." Avery said as he appeared next to the admiral. "Well at least we're not in covenant controlled space." Avery said as a holographic map appeared in front of Saunders. "It seems this area hasn't been discovered by either side." The AI said as he sat in the air.
"Alright, scan that planet, lets see if we have alerted anyone." The admiral said as he sat back down.
"Done, there are signs of life and they seem to have multiple satellites in orbit, and we have not raised any alerts, and just to be safe I bypassed the satellite's security systems and have shut down several satellites so we can enter the planets atmosphere without detection." The AI said as he pulled up a troop roster.
"Alright, send a team down there to meet the locals, see if they are willing to let us stay until we can repair our ship." Saunders said as he pulled the team roster in front of him. "I want a Spartan team down there." The admiral said as he scrolled down on the roster.
"How about Fire team Equine, they just got back, think Colt will be up to a little recon." Avery said as pulled his full combat record.
"You know, I think your right, my nephew could use one more recon op before some R and R." Saunders said as he pushed a button on his chair. "Colt please report to the bridge." The admiral said through the intercom. "We need to get this done and over with." The admiral said as he got up and started to walk around the bridge of his ship.
"So your telling me that we have next to nothing on this planet and you want me to take my team down for a little adventure." Colt said as he leaned against the railing of the inner observation deck.
"Yes, we know that it is inhabited and that the covenant or any other UNSC or human forces have discovered this sector, they seem to be technologically enhanced and I was thinking you could use something simple to get your mind off of things for a bit." Saunders said as he patted his nephew on the back.
"Alright uncle, ill do it." Colt said as he stood up straight and saluted him.
""Avery has already fueled up a pelican and has already notified your team about the mission." Saunders said as handed his nephew a data pad. "Apparently this planet is inhabited by bipedal horse like creatures that are led by Three rulers, that's about as much intelligence we can give you at the moment." Saunders said as he leaned against the railing.
"So we keep our fingers off the triggers and mark any cities with IFF tags and set up a temporary FOB?" Colt asked as he slid the data pad into his cargo pocket.
"Yes, and set up a landing zone for any supply drops you need, we may be here for awhile." The admiral said as he got off the railing and started to walk off. "Be careful, and God speed."
Twilight sparkle looked through her telescope for the twelfth time today focusing her sight on the strange ship that had been sitting there for the past three hours.
"So who do you think it is." A female voice said as a white alicorn asked as she entered the room and walked over to the telescope. "Mind if I take a look?" the taller mare said as she placed a hoof on the lavender mares shoulder.
"To be honest, I have no idea, but its been up there for the past three hours and hasn't done anything since it arrived." The lavender mare said as she sat in one of her chairs.
"Twilight, they seem to be sending a shuttle down, and from the looks of the larger ship it seems to be damaged badly." The taller mare said as she pulled her head back and looked at her student.
"Should we send an air escort to guide them to a safe landing zone?" Twilight asked as she got up and ran to her teachers side.
"Call the air guard and let them know we have guests, and not to fire on them unless they fire first, we don't want a war on our hoofs when we still have to worry about the changeling army getting ready to strike." The taller one said with a worried tone.
"Alright guys and gals, the admiral wants us to meet the locals, so keep your com channels on and your fingers off the trigger." Colt said as he handed out small data pads.
"Uh, sir I think there is a typo in this, it says we are meeting bipedal horse like creatures." Brick said as he looked back at his commanding officer.
"No typo, Brick we are actually going to be meeting horse like creatures today." Colt said as he walked to the ramp of the pelican pressing a button to open the ramp. "So yeah, get ready for a wild ride." Colt said as he sat down in a chair closest to the ramp.
"We have two targets right below us." The pilot said as he banked left. "You think they are the welcome party or not?" The pilot asked as he switched on his radio. "This is Echo 1-5 of the UNSC fleet to escort, I have a team on board and we request permission to land." The pilot said as he slowed his course baring.
"This is Romeo 2-7, of the equestrian air guard to unidentified craft, power down all weapons and proceed on baring 3-1 to the landing zone at Vector 2-5, someone wants meet you there." The escort pilot said as he boosted off.
"10-4 Romeo 2-7, we are on course and will be on the ground in ten." the pilot said as he put the pelican in a slight nose dive. "Alright, Spartans boots on the ground in ten." The pilot yelled back into the cargo hold.
"Do you think they are kind creatures?" The lavender alicorn asked as she walked towards her teacher.
"I have no idea Twilight, but what ever the issue is we should be able to help them in anyway possible, and plus I thought you wanted to meet new creatures for your research." The taller mare said as she playfully rubbed her students mane. "Lets just hope they are friendly." The taller mare said as she sat in her chair that was brought to her by a servant.
"Pilot, land on that ridge real quick for a drop off." Colt said as he stood up. "Ghost I want you and Ricochet on over watch till we are done with the meeting." Colt said as he patted Ghosts shoulder.
"You can count on us sir." Ghost said as she pulled her sniper rifle from the weapons rack.
"Be careful, you two red headed weapons of destruction." Brick said to the twins as the shuttle began to make its descent.
"We will Brick, and try not to get into trouble without us." Ricochet said as the pelican touched down on the ridge. "See you later, and try to keep Brutus under control while im gone." Ghost said as she looked back and gave Brutus a thumbs up. "If he gets mad, just give him his book and tell him to read till he is calm." Ghost added as she stepped off the shuttle.
"Look, here they come." Twilight said as she pointed in the direction of the shuttle.
"Should I call upon my guards, just in case, sister?" A some what shorter but taller then twilight asked as she walked next to her sister.
"No, I have a feeling these creatures will be kind enough not to strike us, dear sister." The tallest one said as she turned around to face her younger sister.
"That is a rather odd looking shuttle don't you think?" Twilight asked as it got closer to the landing zone.
"Actually I think it looks rather helpful in my opinion, it looks like it can transport a large amount of troops and resources to the battle field." the tallest one said as the shuttle began its descent not even twenty feet away from where they were standing.
"What does UNSC stand for?" twilight asked as she got abit closer to the shuttle.
"Go, Go!" Colt shouted to the group of Spartans. "Brick clear left, Brutus clear right." Colt ordered as they ran out the hatch of the pelican.
"Clear left, sir." Brick said as he kneeled down on one knee with his rifle at the ready.
"Clear right." Brutus said in a deep tone as he repeated Bricks steps. "We are all clear sir, setting up IFF tag now, and sending the ok signal to the Golden Harvest." Brutus said as he stood and placed his shot gun on the magnetic weapons plate on his back.
"This place reminds me of home." Brick said as he looked to his left to find three horse like creatures staring at them as they stood there admiring the view of the luscious green fields in the distance.
"Hey Colt I don't know if you've noticed but I think we have finally made contact with the locals," the Spartan said as he removed his helmet to reveal his black face.
"Good, lets go and say hello." Colt said as he started to walk towards the three individuals while removing his own helmet. "Hello, I am Captain Alex (Colt) Richards of the United Nations Space Command, and these two are Sargent Tyrone (Brick) Ashley and Master Sargent William (Brutus) Crows, I have two other members on over watch just in case you try to pull anything." Colt said as he saluted the group in front of him.
"So you do not trust us, is that it?" the dark bluish one asked as a shadowy aura formed around her.
"That is not what I am saying, what are your names by the way?" Colt asked as he placed his weapon on his back.
"I am princes Celestia and this is my Sister Luna and my young student Twilight Sparkle, and we are the rulers of this land." Celestia said as she pointed to each of them.
"Well as I said before, my two others are on over watch just to follow negotiation regulations, so as I see you have not done anything so I will have my men stand down." Colt said as he raised his fist in the air.
"This is so boring, why cant we be down there with them?" Ricochet asked as she readied her rifle.
"Well looks like we get to stand down, no wait colt wants us to link up with them." Ghost said as she looked through the scope of her sniper rifle.
"Finally, we get to do something." Ricochet said as she stood and started to walk down the ridge.
"Hey, wait for me." Ghost said as she got up and ran towards her partner.
"So, you say your ship is damaged and you need a place to land it for the repairs?" Luna asked as she grabbed one of the Spartans helmets from the table.
"Yes, and we were wondering if we could use this area to set a temporary Forward Operations Base." Colt said as he tried to grab his helmet back but to avail as Luna pulled away and started to play with it.
"Do you mind if I keep this for a little while longer?" Luna asked as her horn flared and the helmet automatically formed to her head and horn.
"Well there is no point in saying no, you already formed it to your head." Colt laughed as Luna put the helmet on her head.
"You can use this land as long as you want, but on one condition, you must help us win the current war we are in with a powerful force." Celestia said as she smiled at her younger sister.
"I can talk to my commanding officer, we may be able to help you but if we do your forces must help us, we will not be the only military force out there fighting." Colt said as he got up and walked towards the pelican.
"What are you doing?" Twilight asked as she got up and followed the Spartan.
"Getting another helmet of course, I mean your princess of the night stole my primary, I always carry an extra." Colt said as he walked up the ramp of the pelican.
"What type of armor do you and your team wear?" Twilight asked as she followed suit. "It looks heavy and uncomfortable in my opinion" the lavender mare said as she sat in one of the pelican cargo seats.
"its called Spartan IV armor, and yes its heavy at first but it takes a day to get used to, with all the training the Spartans do it gets easy, the concept of this armor is to practically make us unstoppable but with the war we have been fighting we loose two to three Spartans per mission, its tough for a majority of the recruits but we make due with what we got." Colt said as he pulled an extra helmet from under his seat and started to walk towards the exit hatch.
"What type of enemy did you face before you got here?" Twilight asked as she stopped the Spartan in his tracks with her arm. "I want to know." Twilight said as she got closer to the Spartans.
"I'll go over that when the Golden Harvest touches down, I have all sorts of files on what your looking for." Colt said as he playfully rubbed Twilights mane.
"Hey, stop that." the lavender mare said as she swatted away the Spartans hand.
"So you mean to tell me that the locals are in the middle of a war and they don't have enough resources and troops, and the leader wants us to help her fight a war that we are not even a part of?" Saunders asked as he looked at the holographic projection of his nephew.
"Yes sir, it seems that they really are in need of our help, im at the medical station they have set near the hospital, and they have more troops in the infirmary then we would have after a brief space battle." Colt said.
"Alright, im sending a few frigates your way with troops and supplies, and then I will meet down there myself after im done with all the systems checks that need to be done, Avery is going to be on one of those frigates with the files that explain our enemy." the admiral said as he saluted his nephew.
"Colt over and out." Colt said as he saluted his uncle back.
"What did your Commanding officer say?" Twilight asked as she held Colts helmet.
"He said he would help, and as an added bonus he would provide any all information you want for your research." Colt said as Brick hit two latches on Colts back plate.
"So how much does that armor weigh any way?" a tomboyish voice asked as the flaps to the tent opened revealing a cyan mare with a rainbow colored mane and tail.
"So you must be R.D?" Brick asked as he dropped the armor plating. "It ways about two hundred and fifty pounds separately but when you put it all on it weighs close to one thousand - one hundred and fifty pounds." Brick said as he turned Colt around and took Colts breast plate off.
"So you guys must be buff as hell." Rainbow dash said as she sat on a chair in the kitchen.
"Yep, I weigh almost four hundred pounds of nothing but muscle, and killer training." Brick said as Colt started to unlatch his friends armor.
Rainbow Dash began to blush slightly as both Spartans began to flex slightly to let their arms breathe for a moment.
"Hey Dash come here for a minute, I could use your held with this shoulder plate." Brick said as he tried to get the latches to the shoulder plate.
Dash snapped out of her trance and walked over to Brick and unlatched both shoulder plates.
"Thanks, Dash." Brick said as he removed both plates and set them next to his chest plate.
"N-no problem." Dash stuttered as she began to blush again. "Im going to go see if Ghost and Ricochet need any help." Dash said as she ran out of the tent blushing deeply.
"What's her deal?" Brick asked as he removed his fore arm plates.
"Captain Colt, this is Avery, I am on my way with the troops and supplies be there in thirty minutes." Avery said as he plotted a course using the IFF coordinates that Brutus sent the night before.
"Alright buddy, just get here soon." Colt said as he walked around the small town of ponyville.
"Understood sir." the AI said his ship entered the planets atmosphere.
"Do you think we can trust them?" Luna asked as she walked behind her older sister.
"Yes, they seem to be loyal and skilled enough, and have you seen Colt's battle records, he has led more missions then the one they call master chief after his disappearance." Celestia said as she handed Luna the data pad that she had been using.
"Sister, his record also has the most deaths on both fronts of the war they are fighting." Luna said in shock as she handed the data pad back to her sister.
"Yes, but those loses are of just the ones they call marines, not the Spartans and plus those many casualties are necessary in the war they are fighting, you must also realize that the enemy they face has more advanced technology then there forces." Celestia said as she sat on her throne.
"True, but can we trust their troops to help ours and retreat in the heat of battle." Luna asked as she sat next to her sister.
"So what type of enemy are we facing?" Brick asked as he hopped on his commanding officers back.
"Changelings, they are a tricky enemy that feeds off the power of love." Twilight said as they continued walking the streets of the small town.
"Any tactical advantages?" Colt asked.
"Just the mass amount of troops they have, and the ever free forest." Twilight said as she stopped in front of a small bakery. "Would you guys like to meet my other friends?" She asked as she pointed towards the store.
"Why not, we got plenty of time." Colt said as Brick hopped off his back.
"PINKIE!!!!!!!" Twilight yelled
In nothing but a pink flash a hyperactive pink pony ran out of the bakery and tackled her first poor victim to the ground.
"Brutus you ok?" Brick asked with a laugh.
"Yeah im fine, but I think this one knocked herself out when her head made contact with mine." Brutus said as he poked the unconscious mares head. "Yeah she out." Brutus said as he continued to poke at the pink pony.
"Nope im fine, im Pinkie Pie and who might you be?" the hyper pony asked as she sat up and poked Brutus on the fore head.
"I'm Spartan B-08-TE, but you can call me Brutus." the Spartan said as he sat up slightly, his face a few inches away from the pink pony.
"So sorry about my friend dear, she can be a handful sometimes." another voice said as the pink pony was showered in a light blue aura. "I'm Rarity, I see you five have already met Pinkie." the mare said as she walked out of the bakery.
