A prehistoric park crossover. Discord is free, and has hidden the elements in earths past. The main six now must travel back in time into strange hostile worlds, and bring back the elements. However, there is something else they must bring back.

There is something missing from our world. Amazing animals that time has left behind. But what if they could bring them back. What if extinction, didn't have to be forever.

Were going back in time on a safari with a difference. As Twilight and her friends plunge into prehistory, rescuing creatures, on the brink of extinction. Their plan is to bring them and the elements back to the safety of the present. And give them a second chance.

I don't own MLP or Prehistoric park. However I do love both of them. Some story lines from the show may be used in my story. However, I will change them a bit to make them new.

Another thing. Chapters will take a bit to finish. Since I have to research on what it was like back at the time periods I will choose. I will also need to decide what animals will be brought back. I hope you understand.

Also, if you don't know what prehistoric park is. It's a show similar to Jurassic park. Except they get the animals by bringing them back from the past. The show is basically my childhood.

Chapter 1: Discords return

View Online

It's a beautiful day in Chanterlot. The sun is shining high in the sky, spreading its warmth. Birds of many kinds are singing their songs. With a cool breeze blowing across the city streets and gardens. Nobles, shopkeepers, guards, and maids all were busy doing their daily activities. All seems to be normal. For now.

In the royal gardens, Prince Blueblood seems to be having another one of his, tantrums. His target, a maid named Sweet Scent.

"You made my tea too sweet. How dare you peasent." He said with venom. Blueblood is known for overreacting, and being a all around jerk. "I specifically asked for two spoons. Not more, not less. How dare you mess it up when serving a royal!"

The poor maid could only tremble. She was a new maid, and did mess up once awhile. She tried her best though, and if she messes up one of the princesess orders, they would be kind and forgive her. This was her first time working for Blueblood, and he was the total opposite of kind. "I'm...I'm sorry my Prince. Please forgive me." Her high piched voice growing more and more quiet.

"Sorry. Sorry! That's what you say when you hurt my tastebuds! You insolent brat! You think this is how you treat a royal." He was slowly making his way to her, with rage in his eyes.

Sweet Scent backed away terrified. "Please forgive me Blueblood." She suddenly relized what see just said. However it was too late.

"How dare you!" The prince slapped the maid. "It's Prince Blueblood to low lifes like you. You are lucky you are new around here. Otherwise, I would send you to the dungeon." In his mind, he giggled at the thought. The poor maid was on the verge of tears, however. Before she could cry she bumped into something. She turned around, and looked in horror. It was Discord. He had been recently been defeated by the elements of harmony. His frozen face showed his fear. There was something off about it though. Her face suddenly went from scared to terrified. There was a crack. And the more Blueblood insulted her, the bigger the crack became.

Disharmony is one of the only things that can release Discord. And Blueblood is giving enough of it for Discord to escape. Sweet Scent knew she had to get herself and the prince away. She then did something no pony would ever dare to do.

Sweet Scent looked at Blueblood with cold eyes, and he looked back. She then stuck her tongue out and made an annoying noise at him. "Pggggghhhh." She then ran off as fast as her hoofs could take her. The prince was now more angry then ever. He was out for blood now. He then made chase.

Sweet Scent knew Blueblood was freeing Discord unknowingly. So she knew she had to get the prince away. She didn't care how.

Now with Blueblood following her away from the statue. She thought she just stopped the freeing process. Sadly, the damage was already done.

A quiet laugh could be heard from the statue, as more and more cracks formed.

--------------------------------------------
LATER

The being of chaos was now free. Discord was very happy, finally being able to stretch after what seemed like forever.

"Ah, it's so good to be free. Being turned into stone can really make a guy stiff." He said stretching. Cracks and snaps were heard as he moved his long body. Discord was now in his own dimension, were up is down, and left is right. Basicly, it was chaotic. And he wanted all of Equestria to look like it. "Well, now that I'm free. What should I do first?" A thinking cap appeared on his head, as he rubbed his chin in thought.

"Well, first things first." He teleported away, only to return back with a locked box. With a snap of his talons, the lock disappeared, and the box opened. And out came the elements of harmony. "Well well well. Look what we have here. The same stupid rocks that turned me into stone, twice! What am I gonna do with you?"

He could always try to destroy the elements, but where's the fun in that. However, he had to be more careful then last time. The magic of friendship is not something to mess around with.

It was only a matter of time before Clestia finds out about his escape. Though he decided to create a fake statue of himself. So he should have some time. But by now, Discord was getting frustrated. "Ugh! Maybe I'll get ideas from watching something."

He snapped his talons, and a couch appeared behind him. He sat done, grabbed some popcorn, and opened the dimensional viewer. He then started to switch dimensions as if he was changing channels. "Nothing new in the spaghetti dimension. I could send that meatball monster. Nah, it's too easy to destory. Next."

The next dimension was the zombie dimension, where the undead thought against killer plants. "I could get an army of zombies. Ah who am I kidding. There too stupid to follow orders. Next."

The next dimension that was shown was the happy bear dimension. "No! Anything but that. I hate that place. All those cuddley wuddley bears make me sick. Next!"

"Oh, the Bay dimension. The chaos over there was amazing. Now it's just boring and stupid. There are just too many explosions, and I think I'm about to explode if I don't come up with any ideas!" He yelled. His very voice sending shockwaves through his dimension. "Ok, one more place. If it doesn't give me anything, I'll just go to plan B. Which means boring."

With one final snap of his talons, the dimensional channel changed. "What is this? This is new."

"There is something missing from our world."

"Tell me about it. No chaos is terrible."

"Amazing animals that time has left behind." The screen showed some creatures Discord had never seen before. The first seemed to be a longed necked lizard, another one looked like a hairly elephent, while the next looked like a big cat with giant teeth. The roar it made actually gave shivers to Discords spine.

"This seems intersting. That big cat looked dangerous, just the way I like it."

"But what if we could bring them back."

"What are you implying at mister voice?" Discord was confused, yet intrigued. He decided to continue watching.

"What if extinction, didn't have to be forever." The screen now showed a giant skeleton of what seemed to be a dragons. Suddenly, the screen now showed the creature that owned that skeleton. It roared at the camara, making Discord more exited now.

"Now that thing looks dangerous. Maybe I should have one as a pet."

The intro continued, and Discord watched in amazement. Apparently, there is this guy called Nigel Marven, who rescues prehistoric creatures from extinction. And the creatures he saw only amazed him more, not just with their looks. But the chaotic possibilities they had. Their were giant insects, flying bat monsters, hairy versions of animals from the zebra lands, a giant bird, and more strange lizards.

Discord now wanted to see what this was about. So he grabbed more popcorn and watched an episode.

------------------------------
One Episode Later

Discord was now staring into space. The thing he just watched amazed him, the creatures it showed he had never heard of, or seen. What really interested him was that T rex. The fight the two of them had was spectaculer, they would kill there own kind just to get a meal. Now that's disharmony.

An idea suddenly popped up in Discords head. "What if..... yes yes. That idea is genius." Discord clapped in delight. Soon, an evil smirk grew on his face. "Oh Twilight. You better be ready to play a little game. Cause Discord is back baby! Ha ha ha ha haaaaaa!" He laughed an evil laugh, thinking of his plan in action.

"But first, lets get everything I need." He looked at the still open dimensional viewer. He jumped right in, entering the dimension which called itself, "Prehistoric Park".

-----------------------------
Somewhere Else

While Discord is getting ready to put his plan into action. The elements of harmony have been called to Twilights house. Why they do not know.

"So. Ya'll got the letter Twilight sent?" Asked Appplejack.

"Yup. It sounded urgent. Maybe another monster attack." Rainbow Dash would not be surprised if it was. Those things happen like once a week.

Fluttershy was know worried. She shivered, her teeth clenched and her head sweating a bit. But Rarity was there to comfort her. "I doubt that darling. Ponyville would most likely be mostely destroyed by now. And I'm pretty sure Twilight wouldn't take the time to write a letter in the middle of a monster attack. Even with her writing skills."

Pinkie Pie then bounched right in front of Rarity. "Your right. Besides, to me it seemed like a party invitation." She happily bouched forward.

"What makes you think it's a party invitation?" Asked Rainbow.

"Just a hunch." Pinkie Pie shurgged. She then bounched away, humming a tune. Leaving behind a confused pegasis.

BONK

"Oww!" Pinkie Pie stumbled back. She rubbed her acking head, and then looked up to see what she hit. "Hey, speaking of Twilight, were here." Right in front of her was the golden oaks library.

Applejack opened the door. "Hey sugarcube. Were here." She called out. Her call was soon answered by Twilight. Who was in her room.

"Come in. I'll be right there." She replied.

The ponies entered, and heard the sound of Twilights hoofsteps upstairs. She soon came downstairs to greet her friends. "Hey everypony. So good to see you've arrived." She greeted with a smile.

Rarity was the first to speak. "It's great to see you darling. But, why did you want use to come here anyway?" She asked curiously.

Hearing this, Twilight blushed in embarrassment. "Ops. Guess I should of wrote that down on the letter. Do you know what today is?" She asked her friends in excitement.

"Um. It's Monday." Answered Rainbow.

"No, well yes. It's something more." She said with glee.

Pinkie Pie then got right in her face. "Well tell us already. The suspense is killing me!" She grabbed Twilight and started to shake her.

"Calm done Pinkie. I'll tell you." Twilight gently pushed her friend off her. "Well, today it's been officially one year since we deafeted Discord. Isn't that crazy?!"

Her friends stood awhile in thought, and soon got it. "Whoa! Your right, it has been a year. Cool." Rainbow concluded. She had completely forgotten about that fateful day.

Applejack then commented on Twilights statement. " I know it's a special day and all. But why did ye invite us here? Something ya planning?"

Twilight looked at Applejack with a smile. "Your right Applejack. Today we celebrate our friendship. We'll have a day just to do what we want. No work. Just a day for ourselves. How does that sound?"

Fluttershy answered her with a smile. "That dose sound fun Twilight. So we each get to decide what to do today?"

"Yup. It's gonna be great. Just me having a great day with the friends I love."

"Aowww." Her friends said. And soon they all got into one of their hugs. Their smiles growing bigger and bigger every second of it.

All seems well and good for the main six. However, they are about to get a shock of a life time. For a certain someone was just outside the door.

Knock Knock Knock

There was a knocking on the door. The main six got out of their hug, and Twilight went to the door to answer. She opened the door. "Hello, welcome to the golden....." She couldn't finish her sentence, she started at the figure in front of her, her mouth and eyes wide open. Her eyes went up the all to familiar body, and soon set right on the all to familiar head.

"Hello again Twilight."

"WAAAAAAAA!"

The others heard Twilights scream, and ran to the door. "What is it sugarcuuuube?" Applejacks mouthed fell, as did the others, as they all looked at the towering figure in front of them.

"Ahhh, well look who it is. My old friends. It's so good to see you again." Discord grabbed them and gave them a big hug. Rainbow Dash was the first to act. She squeezed her way out of his tight grip, and got in his face.

"How did you get free you freak!?" She yelled, her eyes looked as if on fire. Discord let go of the others and told them his tale.

"You want the short or the long version?"

Rainbow was getting impatient. "I don't care which one you tell! Just tell us, or I'll shove your horns up your ass!"

Rarity was taken back by Rainbows language. "Rainbow! Don't use that language." She scolded.

Everyone looked at Rarity with eyes that said "seriously". "Listen Rares. The lord of chaos has escaped, and is right in front of us. And your worried about my language. We got bigger things to deal with, ok."

Rarity blushed in embarrassment. "I guess I kinda overreacted. Anyways, tell us how you got out Discord." She asked surprisingly politely.

Discord smiled. "Oh I would love to tell my tale, but is it just me. Or is there somepony missing from this gathering?" He crossed his arms, analyzing the "picture". A light bulb then appeared above his head. "Of course. How could I forget. Just give me a second please." He snapped his talons and waited. His smile grew on his face.

There was a awkward moment of silence. The main six looked around confused, while Discord looked at his watch and counted down. "Three, two, one."

Suddenly, out of nowhere. Celestia and Luna appered in front of the main six. Their faces showed deep concern. "Twilight. Discord has escaped. Where is he?" She quickly said, without giving a hello. Twilight just looked a Celestia. She then pointed behind them, "Right behind you."

The two princesses turned around to see Discord waving at them. Luna instantly got in a fighting stance, her horn started to glow. "How did you get free!?" She yelled in her royal chanterlot voice. She had never used it for about a year, since it was....dated.

"Hey! I already asked that." Rainbow responded. Luna gave her a stern look, which basically said, "Not now".

While Luna was continuing to charge her horn, Celestia on the other hoof was more calm with the matter. "Tell us how you escaped." She said with a soft, yet stern voice.

"Of course Tia. I'll be glad..."

"Don't call me Tia." Celestias voice changed into a more threatening, vicious tone. This surprised everyone, even Luna.

"Fine fine. Hold your horses. Well, it was a sunny day in chanterlot. I could see a nice breeze blowing around. There were birds singing their songs, and pigeons doing their business on me." Discord said with anger. He hated pigeons. The ponies tried to hold in their laughs, since this was a serious situation. Discord could hear some snickering, but ignored it. "Anyways. As I said, it was a nice day for you ponies. Then, I heard a beautiful sound. The sound of hatred and anger. It came from the one, the only, Blueblood!" He pulled out a picture of the prince out of nowhere. Everyone was surprised by his statement, except for Rarity. She was not surprised at all.

"Well I never got why he was angry. But I think it had something to do with his tea being too sweet. Well anyways, he was yelling at a maid. And that was when I started to feel, a feeling. A feeling of strengh, and freedom. The maid tried to get him away from me, but luckily, what he did was enough. I'll have to thank him for that later." He took out a calendar, and put on a date.

"Ok then. Why are you here?" Asked Celestia. Discord laughed at her question, to her annoyance.

"Really Celestia, you don't know why I'm here. I here for the same reason every time. I'm here to spread the beauty of chaos. Something you don't understand."

Celestia tried to hide her frustration. "No. Why are you here in Ponyville? Why have you revealed yourself to the elements of harmony."

Something suddenly clicked in Twilights head. "Princess! The elements!" She called.

Celestia already knew what she was implying. She completly forgot the elements in her panic. She teleported away. All the ponies then turned their heads towards Discord, who had a big smile on his face.

"Uh. Why are ya smiling?" Applejack asked. Discord plus smile equals bad.

"Oh nothing." His voice could break glass at this level of sarcasm.

Celestia soon reappeared with a small box. She passed it to Twilight quickly, not even bothering to open it.

Twilight caught it with her magic, and opened the box. Her face was only of horror. "There gone!" She screamed. She turned the box around to show Celestia. "Oh no." She gasped. She turned to Discord, rage filling her body. She tried to control her temper so she could speak. "Where in Equestria did you put them?" Her voice had the vemon of a snake, a very hungry one.

Discord was unfazed by her, and only giggled. "Not where Celestia, when."

The ponies had confused looks on their faces. What did he mean by when. Rainbow Dash soon thought she had an answer.

"You don't mean.."

As if he read her mind, Discord answered. "Yes Dash. Your precious elements aren't in Equestria any more. There in another worlds past."

The princesses and the main six couldn't believe it. Did he really hide the elements in the past? Not theirs mind you. Was he really that powerful?

"Your joking, right?" Rainbow nervously smiled. Discord answered with a thumbs down, and then started to laugh evilly.

"Muhahahahahaaaa!" He laughed at the top of his lungs. His laughter could be heard in Chanterlot.

He went on with it for about a minute, ater which he started to calm down. "Don't worry my little ponies. You'll be allowed to look for them. Besides, the game would be boring otherwise." He reassured.

"Well, how the hay are we supposed to know when n where we find them." Applejack asked. "And how do we get to their locations?"

"Oh almost forgot." Discord pulled a different bow out of his ear, and opened it, showing its contents.

"What are these?" Twilight pulled out a pair of strange metal sticks. They looked totally alien to her, even to the princesses.

"Those are the keys for unlocking the doors to the past. You can set how far back you want to go, and where. I have already chose your locations and time periods."

Pinkie bounched around Twilight, looking at the strange contraption. "What are you waiting for Twilight. Find a way to make those things work."

"Uhbaba." Discord snapped his talons, and the metal sticks fell into his hand. "You might want to reconsider."

"And why would we do that?" Rainbow crossed her front legs.

"Because. The places the elements are hidden in are no vacation destinations. There is no friendship."

"Huuuuh!" All the ponies gasped.

"There is no harmony."

"Huuuuh!"

"And you bet there is a low chance of you coming back alive."

All the ponies, especially Fluttershy shivered in fear. "You know what. Maybe a world full of chaos isn't such a bad idea." She tried to run away, but Applejack bite her tail.

"Hold yer horses sugarcube. We ain't letting Discord turn this place into his playground." She pulled Fluttershy back.

"Your right Applejack." Twilight said. She then turned towards Discord. "We are going to look for the elements no matter how dangerous it is. Equestria is in our hooves, and we ain't gonna back down from a chance of saving it." She said with confidence. The others nodded in agreement, even Fluttershy.

"Very well. It's your choice." He snapped his talons, and the metal rods appeared in front of Twilight again.

"Come on girls. Let's go find the elements." The ponies cheered and ran off. They didn't get too far before Discord appeared in front of them.

"Twilight. You may not know, but there is a certain rule to this game that you must follow."

"Ugh! What is it now.' The main six said annoyed.

"I want you too bring some, guests back from your travels."

Rarity had her turn to speak now. "What do you mean by guests?"

"It's quite simple actually." Discord pulled out a contract and put on some reading glasses on. "You just bring back a minimum of three herbivores and three carnivores back from each time period you enter. You will basically make equestria into a nature reserve for ancint creatures. Oh, and no bringing just the small ones. You'll need to bring the big ones too." Discord then pulled out a old looking book from behind a bush. "You will use this book to identify and learn about the creatures you will encounter, and the locations you will enter."

Twilight took the book and opened it. "Hey! It's all blank." She continued to flip through the empty pages.

"A page will be filled every time you encounter a new creature, and enter a new world." He explained.

The ponies nodded and ran off to get prepared for their journey. All who were left were Discord, Luna, and Celestia.

"Well. That went better then expected. You think they will succeeded?" Asked Luna.

Celestia put a hoof on her sister back, and gave a reassuring smile. "I have full confidence that Twilight and her friends will succeeded. Their friendship is very strong, which will help them get past many odds."

"So what do we do with him?" Luna pointed at Discord. "I don't want to watch him all day."

"Oh don't worry there Luna. You will have no time to watch me." Discord responded.

"What do you mean we will have no time? What plans do you have for us?" Asked Celestia. The last time Discord was freed, he locked them in a closet.

Discord pulled out a scroll, which turned out to be a very long list. "You, and the guards will be taking care of the animals when they arrive. You will need meat, that's for sure. But I bet the griffins will be more then happy to sell you some. You will also to things such as washing, feeding, poop cleaning, enclosure building, building holding pens, keeping an eye on them, and researching them. There are many more things to do, but you can look at it yourselves." He tossed it to them, covering them with a long paper. "You might want to start building some enclosures in the desert."

"Why's that?" Asked Luna.

"Because your little pony friends are heading first to a large desert. More specifically, the great desert of Mongolia, 80 million years ago. I decided to make the first location an easy one. Nothing really big lives there, well, except a few. And they only have about a 70% chance of dying."

Celestia and Luna gasped. That's pretty high for a first mission. They were yet curious about what creatures lived in this, Mongolia. They actually were kinda excited to study them. That was not a priority right now. They needed to start building some holding pens so they could put whatever Twilight and her friends would bring back in them, and start to get an understanding of where to put them.

"Ok, were heading to the castle. Your coming with us, ok. And no funny business. Got it?" Celestia gave Discord a stern look. Discord nodded, and followed Celestia and Luna back to their castle.

"Finally. My plan is coming together."

"What was that." Luna thought she heard Discord speak.

"Oh nothing. Lets keep moving." He laughed under his breath. What was his plan?

Next time. Twilight and her friends head to the vast deserts of prehistoric Mongolia. Danger will be at every cornor, and surprises at every turn. As they try to track down one of the most cunning predators of all time. And solve the mystery, of the giant claw.

Mission 1: A Desert Lost in Time part 1

"There is something missing from our world. Amazing animals that time has left behind. But what if they could bring them back, what if extinction, didnt have to be forever. We're going back in time on a safari with a difference, as Twilight and her friends plunge into prehistory rescuing creatures, on the brink of extinction. Their plan is to bring them and the elements back to the saftey of the present, and give them a second chance.

On their very first mission. Twilight and her friends travel to the vast desert of prehistoric Mongolia. Where they'll try to hunt down one of the most cunning dinosaurs ever, but also try to not be hunted themselves. Welcome to the ultimate wildlife sanctuary, welcome to prehistoric park.

It's a big day for many ponies in Equestria, the first creatures should arrive today, so many ponies are getting ready for their arrivel. Weather it's building or hiding. In Chanterlot, an important meeting about the enclosures being held.

"So how high do you want us to build the fences princess?" Asked a worker pony. Princess Celestia, Luna, some nobles, and some workers were talking about their plans for the animals.

"Well that depends how big the animals are." She answered. "It also depends if they are carnivore or herbivore. So for now, build them as high as myself to start off. You can always build on top of them if they need to be taller."

"And how much do we get paid for each complete project?" Asked another worker. Celestia was just about to get to that.

"How about 50 bits per worker?" She offered.

"Make it 75, and you got a deal." The head worker slamed his hoof on the table as he said that. Celestia nodded, and shock hooves with the head worker to approve his deal. "So what and where should we start building princess?" The head worker asked.

Celestia stood and went a few paces towards to well polished wooden shelf. She carefully went through the different scrolls and books that occupied it. She then stopped at a scroll with a red ribbon keeping it closed. She levitated it to the table, and opened it to see it's contents.

It was a detailed map of Equestria. It had major cities, railroads, and important locations. "I would like you to start building some enclosures at the San Palomino Desert. Make it a decent size so the animals won't feel cramped. And there is no need for rushing. We need to make sure those fences will stay up."

"Question. If the animals come before we finish a project, where do you put them?" Asked the head worker. Celestia then directed their attention to another part of the map.

"I already have a group of workers building some holding pens a little north from Ponyville. That's where we'll hold the animals until their enclosure is complete." She decided to go with Ponyville because of its small population, plus that's where the main six live. Also, if an animal were to escape and destroy Ponyville, it wouldn't be a big problem. Ponyville has been attacked by monsters plenty of times, and the residents always seem to rebuild that town in little time.

All the workers nodded and headed out. The nobles now had their chance to speak now.

"Princess. Are you sure this is a good idea? Bringing whatever animals existing in that other world back to Equestria is a danger to ponies. We don't even know what they will bring back. They could be blood thirsty killers." A noble said.

"I know the risks my little pony. Under any other circumstances I would not do this, but we don't have a choice. We must play by Discords rules in order to get the elements back." Celestia responded. She never admitted it, but she was kinda scared. She had no idea what she just got herself into.

"Well I think this might be beneficial to the ponies of Equestria." Said another, younger noble. "Having a bunch of strange exotic creatures could raise our tourism levels. Plus with the need for meat, we can now finally have a proper economic relationship with the griffins. Plus, think of all the research that can be done." She had some good points.

"I couldn't agree more. We just need to make sure those things won't go on a rampage and indanger lives." Added Celestia.

The meeting soon ended. Both nobles had left to get their plans out to the public, and now only Princess Celestia and Luna remained. There was silence in the room. Celestia sighed and closed her eyes, which got noticed by Luna. "Sister, are thou ok?" She looked at her older sister in concern.

Celestia opened her eyes and returned a smile. "I'm fine. I just hope we will be able to handle what we just got ourselves into." Luna understood what her ssiter meant. This was a first for both of them, and she understood her worries.

"Do not worry sister. Thou will not fail, as long as you have our help. We will be beside thou through this whole thing. You can rest assured." Celestia's smiled widened, she was truely blessed to have a sister like Luna. She pulled her in for a hug, and Luna happily accepted it.

Both of them enjoyed the hug, which sadly did not last long.

SLAM

The door at the end of the room slamed open, startling the sisters. Then in came Discord eating a slice of cake. "I have to say, this cake is good. Who would leave such a delcicous cake just sitting in their room." He continued to eat it, enjoying every bite."

Celestia's eyes widened. "Luna, that looks like your" Before she could finish her sentence, Luna teleported away. There was a moment of silence in the castle, then a blood thirsty yell filled the halls.

"DISCORD!"

Discord heard the yell. "Opps."

Celestia couldn't help but chuckle under her breath.

Meanwhile, back in Ponyville. Twilight and her friends have gathered in the Golden Oaks library to see if everyone was ready. Today was the day of their first mission.

"Ok everypony. Let's see if we got everything we needed." Twilight asked. The others all nodded in response. They had a gathered in the main room of the library. In front of eact pony was a large saddle bag, which each of them filled with stuff they need.

Twilight pulled out a clip board with a check list on it, and started to ask if they got everything

"Fluttershy. You got the medical equipment we might need?" The shy pegasis responded with a small nod.

"Pinkie Pie. You got the tent and blankets?"

"Yup." Pinkie responded.

One could question how she fit all that stuff in her bag, but it's Pinkie Pie.

"Applejack. You got enough food to last us awhile?"

"Enough for five days." Applejack said. That should be enough for a trip. They would be coming back a couple of times anyway.

"Rainbow dash. You got the tools and equipment we could use?"

"Of course I did."

Twilight turned to her last friend. "And Rarity, what are you wearing?"

Rarity was wearing a slick dress coloured with colours which more belonged in the military. She was even wearing a matching hat. "Oh this. Well it's my outfit darling. A lady has to look her best where ever she goes." She flicked her mane striking a pose. The others just gave her blank stares. "What?" Rarity looked at them confused.

Rainbow dash then spoke up. "Rarity, take the dress off." She said in a annoyed, yet serious tone.

"Wa...why?" Rarity asked. The others looked at her in a way that answered her question. "But but." Rarity tried to protest, but eventually gave up. "Fine." She sighed in defeat. She slowly trotted upstairs to get changed.

While she was away, Applejack took the time to ask Twilight something. "Ok, we got everything we need. But what do you have sugarcube?" She pointed to Twilight's full saddle bag.

"Oh just a few books and papers." She opened the bag to revel it's contents. It was far from a few books.

"Uh sugarcube. That's alot more then just a few books." She pointed out. She expected for Twilight to feel kinda embarrassed, she got the opposite.

"So," She grabbed Applejack by the head and pulled her in. "think of all the research I could do. This world could be a knowledge diamond mine." She had a crazed smile on her face, while Applejack just had a scared, yet confused face. Twilight soon realized her sudden outburst. She let go of Applejack, and backed down, rubbing her head in embarrassment. "Hehe, sorry." She laughed nervously.

"It's alright sugarcube." She gave Twilight a hug, patting her back as she did.

Rarity then came back in the room, her dress now off. "So, are we ready to go?"

"Well, by the looks of it, we are. Just let me send a letter to the princess, to let her know we are ready." She passed Rarity up the stairs and headed to her room.

While the others waited, Rainbow and Applejack were having a conversation. "So, you nervous?" Rainbow asked her in a mocking tone.

"What, are you?" Applejack returned.

"Ha! Me, nervous. You must have mistaken me for somepony else." She laughed. Applejack just rolled her eyes.

Twilight soon came back from her room with a new scroll. "Ok everypony. The princess knows we are ready. She is actually going to come here to give us a fair well." She announced. The others nodded, and went outside. Only Twilight was left. To be honest with herself, she was kinda afraid. But she knew this had to be done. For Equestria, for Princess Celestia.

"Hey sugarcube, you comin?" Applejack peaked inside to see if Twilight was coming.

"I'm coming." Twilight answered. With her new boost of confidence, she went out the door. Ready to face whatever could be in that other world.

A little bit later, Twilight and her friends were saying their final goodbyes before they went on their expedition. One could hope this wasn't goodbye forever.

"Now you take of yerself Apple Bloom. I'll be back soon." Applejack told her little sister.

"You too squirt." Rainbow Dash hugged Scootaloo, as if they were sisters.

"You should behave yourself as well Sweetie Belle. I'll be trusting the boutique with you. You think you can handle that?" She sat on her hunches, holding her little sister up in the air.

"You got it." She saluted. Rarity could only smile at how cute her little sister could be. The three sister ponies were soon done giving their goodbyes to family, and headed to the others to group up.

"So you ready to go sugarcube?" Applejack asked Twilight.

Twilight was in the middle of saying goodbye to the princesses, she turned around to face the farm pony. "Just a minute." She returned her attention to the princesses. "I guess we better get going. Goodbye princess." She hugged her mentor, and she hugged back.

"Goodbye Twilight. I have faith that you will be successful." Celestia said.

"Your probably going to a dangerous world Twilight Sparkle. You'll need all the luck you can get." Added Luna.

"She's right. You'll need all the luck in the world to survive." Said an all to familiar voice.

"Oh no." Sighed Rainbow.

Suddenly, Discord appeared. "Hello again ponies." He said cheerfully.

"Ugh! What do you want?" Asked Twilight annoyed.

"Oh, just wanting to say my final goodbyes to my favourite ponies."

"You implying that in a good way, or a bad way?" Asked Rainbow. She had a feeling he wanted this to be goodbye, forever.

"Oh of course it is the good way. You think I would ever mean it the bad way." As he said this, a halo appered above his head.

"Whatever." Responded Rainbow. Her and the wrest of the elements passed Discord in a quick pace. They stopped infront of the two time portals and waited. With their backs turned, Discord saw his perfect opportunity to make there trip more, interesting. Seeing his chance, he snapped his talons behind his back. Suddenly, a strange sensation came upon Twilight and Rarity.

"Woah. Did you girls feel that?" Twilight asked. It felt as if her body was changing on the inside.

"Nope. Yer probably just nervous sugarcube." Applejack said.

"That's odd. I felt that too. Could it mean something?" Rarity pondered.

Rainbow's patience was wearing thin now. "Yeah. It means you both nervous. Are we going now?" She directed her annoyance to Discord.

"Fine fine Ms. Impatience Pants." He pulled out what seemed to be a remote out of his ear. It had only one button on it, which meant it had only one purpose. He pressed. Suddenly, the time portals came to life. They shined a mysterious blue, as the devices started the process. A portal appeared soon after. It shown like a star in the night sky, which only Luna could create.

The main six stood in awe at the portal. They had never seen anything like this before. Twilight was especially intrigued. She tried to get a glimce of the other side, to no avail. Celestia was more surprised then anything else. The energy produved by the devices didn't feel like magic. It felt alien to her. She turned to see how Luna reacted. She could tell by the look in her eyes that she knew this was new. She then turned her attention to the main. What she saw in their eyes where determination and wonder. Well, Fluttershy was more scared and unsure.

"Well girls, ready?" twilight turned to her friends.

"Ready." they said in unison. Twilight smiled. On the inside, she was thankful for such great friends at her side.

"Well then, lets go." Twilight responded.

As our heros go into the portal, many thoughts plagued their minds. What dangers could lay on the other side? Will they succeed, or die trying. One thing is for sure though, this wasn't going to be an average trip.

Mongolia, 80 million years ago

The desert is a unforgiving environment. It is surprising how life found a way, to live in these harsh conditions. However, some new faces are going to end up here, and they are going to be hit by the deserts merciless attempt to kill them all, at full force.

There was a bright flash in the lonely dunes. The portal had appeared, and out came Twilight and her friends. As they came out, they felt the hot sands burn their hooves. It felt alien to them. Even the air felt more different, more threatening.

"Where are we?" Rainbow looked around, covering her eyes from the sun's light.

"I don't know," Twilight responded. "but it looks like we are in some type of desert." She looked around, hoping to see some sort of life, but only sand was there. She had been in a desert before, the San Palomino to be exact. But that was different. It was just a archeological expadition to some old ruins, and all that was suspected to be there where some artifacts. She didn't have to worry about some monster trying to eat her. Plus, that desert was more rocky, this one was more sandy.

"Hey sugarcube, look. Yer book is glowin." Applejack pointed out. Twilight turned around to look at her bag. There was a strong glow coming from the inside, which was in the shape of the strange book she was given. Using her magic, she opened her bag and levitated the book out. As she opened it, the book started to vibrate a bit. Then, to everyones amazement, hand written text started to appear. Each letter shined gold right after it showed, and soon dimed to a ink black.

"That's soon mighty fancy magic ya got there sugarcube." Applejack commented.

Twilight turned to her confused. "I didn't do this. It must of been enchanted by somepony else." She thought of all the possible suspects. Could it have been Starswirl? No, even with his powerful magic. There was no way he could of done it. The writing was not of his style. So who could it have been? Maybe Discord....nah. He wasn't really the writing type.

"Well, what does it say?" Asked Rainbow, eager to hear what it had to say about what the hay is going on, or where in the world are they. Twilight gave a nod, and looked at the now full page. It read.

Mongolia, 80 million years ago

During the days of the Late Cretaceous, Mongolia was a land of vast deserts, and lush forests. The desert, known as the Gobi, covered most of the land. Very little plants lived there, however, like most deserts, there were soon paces called oasis's. This is where most of the animals came to live, and to be sheltered from the harsh sun, and sandstorms which where common. Mongolia was not all desert though. Near lakes there were lush forests which housed some of Mongolia biggest, and dangerous dinosaurs. Speaking of them. The animals here evolved into some of the most strangest , and dangerous, things ever to walk the earth.

What has been discovered so far has stumped the minds of many scientists. And I believe there are many more dinosaurs to be discovered, and many more mysteries to be solved.

Beside the writing was a picture of what seemed to be a picture of the world. It looked so strange, nothing like Equestria. In the middle of the biggest looking landmass was a read dot. "That must be where we are." Twilight thought.

Many thoughts ran throught the ponies minds. Some of wonder and curiosity. While others of fear and unsureness. But there was one thing they all knew. They had to find a source of water.

"Ok girls. First things first. We need to find a source of water. Our water supplies won't last very long. Plus, that's the best place to start looking for some sort of life." Twilight said.

"Or more like a place to get eaten." Fluttershy whispered under her hair, so no one could hear. What monsters could live here. The book definitely said dangerous ones. At least she had her firends by her side, but would that be enough?

"Hold on. If we run out of water, couldn't we just head back to Equestria and get more?" Rainbow pointed out. "You have a pair of those time travel thingamagigs with you." She had a point, but there was one problem.

"Yeah, um" Twilight nervously laughed under her breath. "there's a problem. You see, they came with a manual. And it said they had to recharge after one use. And I don't know for how long" The ponies starred flabbergasted at Twilight.

"Wha wha what." Shuttered Fluttershy. Staying here an hour was bad enough, and now she had to survive until the metal time travel thing charged. "What if it would take a week, a month, or a year too charge." She thought.

"Well that blows." Raindow sighed. She dropped to the ground after.

"I know," Twilight spoke, kicking some sand as she did. "but I know we can get through this. Who knows. Maybe it will just take a day or two. Now come on. Lets go find some animals."

"And the element." Added Applejack.

"And the element." Copied Twilight. "We can do this."

Two Hours of Walking Later

"We can't do this!" Cried Twilight. She fell head first into the hot sand, her sweat actually making the sand around her wet. "This desert just keeps going. I haven't even seen a shrub. We're doomed!"

"It's all right sugarcube. Here, want some water?" Applejack passed her friend a canteen.

"Thank you Applejack." She took the cap off and tried to drink. "Huh?" She shaked the canteen to see if it was empty. "There's nothing in here." Twilight said, to her dismay.

Applejack took the canteen back. And looked inside. "That's odd. It was just full a bit ago." She turned around to see if she could get some, only to see that everyone was missing their share as well.

"Strange. I'm empty as well." Rarity said.

"I'm out too." Fluttershy added.

"My bottle is missing! This is so strange. It's like a mystery!" Pinkie bounched in excitement. Now everyone expected Rainbow to have the same problem. However, they didn't hear anything from her. Their was one sound though. Gulping? They turned around, and saw Rainbow Dash drinking every drop of water from Pinkie's canteen.

"Rainbow!" They all yelled. She suddenly froze, and paused her drinking. She had been caught red handed, or hoofed.

"Un, he he." This was all that came out of Rainbow's mouth. She quickly closed the now empty canteen, gave it to Pinkie, and started whistling like it never happened.

"Rainbow, why would you drink all our water? Do you know what you have done?" Twilight said. Rainbow just stared at them for a few moments. She then broke down crying.

"I'm sorry! This heat is killing me! I was so thirsty! I can't do this!" She sobbed. This came as a surprise to everyone. Rainbow Dash saying "I can't do this", that never happens.

Applejack went to Rainbow to comfort her. "Buck up sugarcube. I know you can do this. Your the toughest pegasis I ever known. No offence Fluttershy."

The yellow pegasis gave a small smile and nodded. "Well. I guess your right about that." Responded Rainbow. Her tears started to subside

Applejack continued. "Now how about we forget everything that just happened, and go find a oasis. Right Twilight. She turned to her friend.

"Right." Twilight agreed. She turned around and looked at the vast expanse of dunes with a worried frown. It looked so imitating. Could they really do this. Sure she and her friends deafeted Nightmare Moon, bringing back the good Luna. And deafeted the Lord of Chaos. But this was different. The elements could not help them, and they were basically trapped in a world filled with dangers.

But soon she remembered all the times being spent with her friends, the good and bad ones. No madder what, they stock together. Maybe they don't need the elements to do this. They have each other. Even with the slight boost of confidence, one though stuck in her mind, "This is going to be harder then I thought."
