A new family moves into Ponyville and they have a big secret, but will the new filly, Sparkle Cloud, reveal this secret or will it remain hidden for ever?
A new family of pegasi moves into Ponyville and their young filly, Sparkle, Cloud, is about to start school for the first time, but the only problem is their family secret. Will Sparkle Cloud be able to keep her family secret or well everypony end up learning of it?
It’s a pleasant full day in Ponyville and everypony is getting ready to go to their jobs while all of the fillies and foals are heading to school.
“Alright now lets see, do you have everything you need for your very first day of school, Sparkle Cloud?” Flutter Dust asks her little filly.
“Yes ma’am”
“Now you sure.”
“Come now Flutter, must you keep bothering our little sparkle? She has everything for her first day of school.” Thunder Storm says.
“And that’s why I should, after all this is Sparkle Cloud’s first time ever going to school.”
“Do you think everypony will like me?” the little filly asks her parents.
“I see no reason as to why they shouldn’t.” Thunder says as he puts his hoof over Sparkle Cloud.
“Now you remember what to do once school is over right.” says Flutter Dust.
“Go straight home, and don’t talk to anypony.”
“That’s right, now hurry and go now, you wouldn’t want to be late would you?”
“No mommy, love you.” Sparkle Cloud says as her parents hold her close to them.
“And we love you too, now hurry.” Thunder and Flutter say in unison.
“Bye.” Sparkle say as she rushes out of the cottage hurrying to get to school, leaving her parents home as they share a worried look across their face.
“Are you sure this is a good idea, what if something happens, then everyone well know of our secret.” Flutter Dust says.
“Don’t worry, everything will be just fine, trust me.” Thunder Storm says as he tries to comfort his wife.
“I hope you’re right.”
Miss. Cheerilee’s class was just starting and as always they were as talkative as ever.
“Alright everypony, settle down, I would like to introduce you all to our new student, Sparkle Cloud.”
“Hello Sparkle Cloud.” the class said to their new classmate.
“Um, hi.” the shy filly said.
“Sparkle Cloud since you're new to class, how would you like to tell everypony about yourself.” Miss. Cheerilee recommended.
“Um, okay. Um hi, my name is Sparkle Cloud and me and my mom and dad just moved to ponyville from Cloudsdale.”
“That’s very interesting Sparkle Cloud. Now how about you take a seat so that class can start.”
Sparkle did as she was told and took the empty seat that was to the left of a pegasus filly with a light orange coat and short purple mane.
“Hi, I’m Scootaloo.”
“I’m Apple Bloom” says the yellowish earth filly with brilliant amaranth colored mane and a bow sitting on top of it.
“And I’m Sweetie Belle.” a white unicorn filly with a mixture of pink and purple curly mane says.
Sparkle Cloud, not know this ponies, was so scared that all she replied with was a whimper.
“Girls, no talking in class.”
“Yes Miss. Cheerilee.” said the three fillies.
The day when on as any other and when time came for lunch everypony left to go eat outside. Everypony sat with their best friends talking, eating, and after that was done they played games with each other. Will everypony except Sparkle Cloud, who was sitting under a tree reading with her lunch half eaten.
“What’s wrong with the new pony, I mean she isn’t even eating her lunch she’s just sitting there reading.” Diamond Tiara says to Silver Spoon.
“I know right, what a freak, and she always has her mane covering her right eye, like what is up with that.”
“Hey, stop saying mean things about her.” Sweetie Belle says
“Yeah, I mean what if she’s just shy, her and her family did just move here, she probably doesn’t know how to make new friends.” Apple Bloom adds.
“Well of course you of all ponies would think that.” says Silver Spoon.
“Yeah I mean you for all share one thing in common.” Diamond Tiara said
“And that is what exactly?” Scootaloo asks
Then the two said in unison, “You’re all blank flanks.”
The CMC groaned, and before they could walk over to Sparkle Cloud the school bell rang and Miss. Cheerilee walked outside,“Alright my little ponies, time to get back to class.”
And with that everypony goes back to class. After four hours of school the bell rang and everypony left to go home while most stayed behind to talk to their friends.
“So what do you guys think we should do to try and get our cutie marks this time?” Apple Bloom asks.
“How about we go skydive off of Twilight’s castle.” Scootaloo suggests.
“Um, how about not.” Sweetie Belle says.
As the CMC walk and talk about what to do so that they can try and get their cutie marks. Sparkle Cloud runs past them. The CMC then follow her, thinking that Sparkle Cloud wouldn’t notice, she did. And so she stops and turns around facing the cutie mark crusaders with a mad expression on her face.
“Why do you three keep following me, can’t you tell that I want to be alone.”
“With you running off like that, no.” Scootaloo says.
“Yeah what was all that about anyway?” Sweetie Belle asks.
“Nothing, I, I just have to get home.”
“If that all then why are you in such a rush?” Apple Bloom asks
“Because I just have to, now will you please just, just leave me alone.”
And with that Sparkle Cloud goes back home, leaving the CMC confused, but wanting to respect Sparkle’s wishes, they go back to their tree house.
Sparkle Cloud enters her house to immediately be embraced by Flutter Dust and Thunder Storm as the smell of chocolate milk and cupcakes.
“Oh Sparkle Cloud tell us everything about you first day of school. Did you have fun, did you make any friends, what did you learn?” Flutter Dust asks her little filly.
“Flutter, please, Sparkle can tell us everything that happened AFTER she’s had her rest and is finished eating, right.” Thunder Storm says.
“Yes daddy and I can’t wait to tell you all about what I learned today.” Sparkle says with excitement in her voice, happy to be with her parents once more.
“Oh I can’t wait, but more importantly Sparkle, did you tell anyone about, you know what?” Flutter asks.
“Of course not, I would never.”
“Will that's good to hear, now come on let's go eat.” Thunder said.
Leaving the family of pegasi to go into the dining room happy to now that they can go another day without anypony knowing about their secret, that is, for now at least.
It was a happy peaceful day in Ponyville. The sun was shining and everypony was having the time of their lives. It was a perfect day in the eyes of everypony, especially to Sparkle Cloud. Her and her parents are out in the market getting more food for the birthday party that they are going to throw tomorrow. It seemed that everything was right in the world.
“Can I also have a chocolate ice cream cake for my birthday?” Sparkle Cloud asks her parents with delight.
“Of course you can my little sparkle, anything for you.” Flutter Dust says as her eyes begin to tear up, “I just can’t believe my little filly is getting another year older.”
“Come now Flutter, don’t be like that, especially in front of Sparkle Cloud.” Lightning Storm says as he tries to comfort his wife, “She’s only turning seven.”
“Daddy’s right mommy, it’s nothing for you to be upset about.”
And then, suddenly, lightning struck. Sparkle Cloud looked around only to see that her parents, along with everypony else at the market, were gone. The sky turn black as smoke covered the ground. Sparkle was scared, alone she didn’t know what to do. Then, suddenly, she hears laughter coming from the smoke.
“Oh, whats wrong Sparkle, are you scared?”
“Muahahaha, I don’t see how she can be, she’s not even a REAL pony.”
“Oh that’s right, she’s one of THEM.”
“What, What are you talking about?” Sparkle Cloud asked in fear.
“Why your secret of corse.”
“And how you’re one of THEM.”
“What?” Sparkle says quietly as she starts to realize what they’re talking about.
“Oh yes, you heard us right.”
“What, Did you actually think that you could keep this a secret?”
“Please, it was soooo obvious what you are.”
“No that, that can’t be.” Sparkle said in disbelief, could someone actually find out about her family secret.
“But it is.”
“There is no need of hiding it any more Sparkle Cloud.”
“Yeah, everypony knows.”
“No!” Sparkle screams as she starts to cry.
“You’re a -”
“Sparkle Cloud!” screams two voices, “Sparkle Cloud where are you?”
Sparkle Cloud realized those voices to be her parents, “Mommy, Daddy? Where are you?”
“We’re right here our little sparkle.” says Flutter Dust as Thunder Storm and her appear a few feet away from Sparkle.
Sparkle ran to her parents with a smile on her face. As she got closer she realizes the expression on her parents faces, instead of joy it was of anger. She stopped running, “Mommy, daddy, what’s wrong?”
“What’s wrong, WHAT’S WRONG!!!” Thunder Storm yells, “We told you to do one thing, don’t let our secret get out, and YOU BROKE IT!!!”
“We are very, VERY, disappointed in you Sparkle Cloud.” Flutter Dust said with an angry glare.
“But, but I didn’t, I swear.” Sparkle Cloud cries, “Why don’t you believe me. I thought you loved me.”
“Loved you, how can we love a monster like you.” Flutter said as her and her husband turn around and disappear into the smoke. Leaving Sparkle Cloud alone, in the middle of the dark, crying.
“NOOOOO!” screamed Sparkle Cloud as tears streamed down her face. She looks around and realizes that she’s in her room, “It, it was all a dream?” She got out of her bed and walks towards the mirror in her room and looks at herself as she moves her mane out of her right eye, revealing a sparkling bright blue eye, “They must never know.” Then her room busts open.
“Sparkle Cloud, we heard yelling.” Thunder Storm said.
“Is everything okay?” Flutter Dust says holding her little filly close to her.
“Yeah, just a bad dream, go back to bed I’m fine.”
“Sparkle, are you sure everything is alright.” Flutter asks
“Yes,it’s just -, mommy, daddy, do you two love me?”
“What kind of question is that? Of course we love you, you’re our little sparkle.” Flutter Dust says
“We’ve loved you since the moment you were brought into this world and we still do, and nothing will ever stop that.” Thunder Storm said as he embraces his wife and filly.
“Good, that’s all I wanted to hear.” Sparkle Cloud said with a smile on her face, happy to know that her nightmare wasn’t true and that her parents did love her and that her secret was safe.
The school bell rang, alerting all of the fillies and foals that class is starting. After the nightmare that Sparkle Cloud had last night she still went to school.
“Alright my little ponies today we are going to learn about the history of changelings.” Miss. Cheerilee announced.
The class groaned, except for Sparkle Cloud, who was intrigued in the matter.
Luckily Sparkle Cloud was smarter than that and ignored whoever was calling out for her.
“Diamond Tiara, is there something you would like to tell the whole class?” Miss. Cheerilee asked
“No.”
“Then please stop distracting Sparkle Cloud, alright so as I was say, Changelings can transform to look who ever they want.”
After a few hours it was lunch time, and just like last time Sparkle Cloud sat under a tree reading with half of her lunch eaten.
“Um excuse me.” Sparkle looked up and saw Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon
“Um, hello.” Sparkle said
“Don’t ‘hello’ me, how dare you ignore me in class.” Diamond Tiara said, nearly yelling at Sparkle Cloud.
“I didn’t want to get in trouble.”
“Listen here blank flank, you're new here, we get it, but you do not ignore Diamond Tiara.” Silver Spoon said.
“I’m sorry I just -”
“Yeah you better be sorry you freak.” Diamond Tiara said insultingly.
“I, I -”
“Hey! Stop bullying her.” yelled Apple Bloom
“What did she ever do to you?” asked Scootaloo after getting in front of Sparkle Cloud in a protective manner.
“Don’t tell us what to do.” Diamond Tiara said.
“Excuse me?” Miss. Cheerilee said with a disapproving look on her face as Sweetie Belle walked behind her, “What is going on here?”
“Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were bullying Sparkle Cloud, we were just standing up for her.” Apple Bloom said.
“She’s lying to you Miss. Cheerilee, They were pick on us.” Diamond Tiara said
“Really, is that the story you’re going with?”
“Um, yes?”
“Sparkle Cloud, is this true?”
“They were picking on me ma’am, they were saying mean things like mocking me for being a blank flank and for not responding to her in class.” Sparkle Cloud said with tears in her eyes.
“Well I think that’s all of the evidence I need, Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, I am very disappointed in you, I’ll be letting your parents know about this.”
“What!” the two yelled.
“Don’t raise your voice at me you two, now come on.”
The two fillies followed Miss. Cheerilee back to the classroom, leaving the CMC and Sparkle Cloud alone at the tree.
“Um, than, thank you for, um, standing up for me.” Sparkle stutters.
“Of course, what are friends for.” Scootaloo says.
“Friends?” Sparkle asks.
“Well yeah, I mean, sure we haven’t really talked and the last time we did you yelled at us but we still want to be your friends.” Apple Bloom says
“Really?”
“Of course.” all three of them said.
The school bell rang and everypony went into class. After a few more hours of school and it was time for everypony to go home. The CMC were talking to each other and notice Sparkle Cloud walking back home.
“Hey Sparkle Cloud, wait up” Scootaloo calls out.
“Um, what do you guys want?” Sparkle asks nervously.
“Well, we’ve been talking and we thought that since you don’t have your cutie mark like us, that maybe you would like to join and become a member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.” Sweetie Belle offers.
“The Cutie Mark Whatters?” Sparkle asks.
“The Cutie Mark Crusaders. It’s a group we created where we try and get our cutie marks.”Scootaloo explains.
“So, what do you say, well you join?” Apple Bloom asks
Sparkle Cloud says nothing, she just stares, thinking to herself on whether or not she can actually trust them. Yes, they did defend her when Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were picking on her but would they always be there to help her? And worst of all, would they too start bullying her if she ever accidentally revealed her secret? Not knowing whither to say yes or no Sparkle Cloud panicked and ran home.
“Well that didn’t go very well.” Sweetie Belle commented.
“Ah well, we still got each other. Come on, let's get to the clubhouse.” Apple Bloom said with a disappointed look, “To bad, I bet she would’ve been a great member too.”
It’s been four days since the time Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon mocked Sparkle Cloud and since the CMC asked her to join them. In that time Sparkle hasn’t said a word to anypony, not to Miss. Cheerilee or even to the CMC in that matter. At this time Sparkle Cloud is at home with her parents planning her birthday party.
“So today I met with Ponyville’s party planner, her name is Pinky Pie if I’m correct, and I hear that she’s rather good too.” Flutter Dust says to Thunder Dust as Sparkle looks over at the food list.
“I hope so, after all we should only have the best for our little sparkle.”
“Don’t worry she is and very hyper about it too I might add. She even said that she’ll have Princess Twilight there too, now how she’ll pull that off I don’t know.”
“Sparkle Cloud did you hear that? You might actually have a princess at your birthday party this year.” Thunder said grabbing his little fillies attention from the food book.
“Really.” Sparkle squealed in excitement.
“Well, maybe, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t keep hoping.” Flutter says.
“Oh, that reminds me, Sparkle do you know who you want to invite to your party, because me and your mother were thinking about inviting your entire class for it.” Thunder mentions.
“Actually daddy, I was hoping that we could have this birthday party be for only us, I don’t really want to have anypony else there.” Sparkle suggests.
“Why would you want that? I think it would be fun. And who knows you can make some more friends from it too.” Flutter Dust says to Sparkle Cloud trying to get her into changing her mind about the subject.
“I just don’t want anypony else at my birthday party, that’s all.” Sparkle claims.
“But why is what I’m asking Sparkle.” Flutter says with a hint of sternness in her voice.
“BECAUSE I’M SCARED THAT THEY’LL FIND OUT OUR SECRET!” Sparkle Cloud yells. tears stream down from her face as she runs upstairs to her room, leaving her parents in a state of shock in the dining room. They both look at each other knowing what they both should do. They both walk up to their fillies door and slowly open it, only to see Sparkle Cloud sobbing on her bed.
“Sparkle, do you want to talk?” Thunder Storm asks in a hush tone.
She said nothing and just continued to cry.
“Sweetie, we know how you feel, believe me this secret is hard to keep for us too, but that doesn’t mean you should have turn down the opportunity of making friends just because of it.” Flutter Dust says as she lays on her fillies bed holding her close as Sparkle crys onto her.
“Your mother’s right Sparkle, we know you’re scared about our secret getting out but something like that shouldn’t stop you from having fun.” Thunder says as he sits opposite of his wife .
“But, what if I miss up and tell them our secret? Then they might hate us.” Sparkle Cloud said through
the tears.
“Oh Sparkle, no, no no no, that won’t happen, my poor little pony. You don’t have to worry about that, in fact you shouldn’t have to worry about that. You’re young, and you only get to be young for so long and you shouldn’t have to live out those years in fear, you should have to live out those years with as much joy and happiness as you would any other day, but more.” Flutter Dust says to Sparkle Cloud with a hush tone.
“But what if I miss up? Then they’ll hate me.”
“If they’re really your friends then they’ll accept you. If they don’t then it’s their loss.” Thunder says
“Really?”
“Of corse. So, what do you say Sparkle? Do you still want your birthday party to only be us three?” Flutter says.
“Um, actually, can I invite some fillies from class?” Sparkle Cloud asks her parents.
Flutter Dust giggles, “Of course you can. Anything for our little sparkle.”
“Thank you mommy and daddy.” Sparkle said as she gets her parents into a group hug.
Thunder Storm chuckles,”You’re welcome, now get to bed, you have school tomorrow.”
“Ok” Sparkle said as she gets in bed and her parents tuck her in, “Goodnight mommy, goodnight daddy, I love you.”
“Sweet dreams our little sparkle.” said both Thunder and Flutter as they turn off the lights and close the door. Leaving their filly to drift off into a peaceful dream.
Today was the day. Today was Sparkle Cloud's birthday. It was hard for Flutter Dust and Thunder Storm to believe that seven years ago on this very day their little filly was born. It was a nice day over at Ponyville. The birthday party was being held at Sugar Cube Corner and Pinky Pie made sure that this party was going to be the best, there were games, a petting zoo, and of course food. The CMC came and brought over Applejack, Rarity, and Rainbow Dash. As Pinky promised Twilight came as will. It was everything that Sparkle Cloud could have asked for a birthday party and more.
“Wow, I most say Pinky Pie I am very impressed by what you’ve done.” Flutter Dust says to Pinky Pie was she giggles at the sight of her filly playing with her friends.
“Oh, it was no big deal.”
“It is to us. Sparkle Cloud is everything to us, it means a lot that you were able to plan a birthday party that can make her happy.” Thunder Storm said.
“Awwwww, how sweet. Oh, speaking of sweeties we’re running out of cupcakes, be right back.” Pinky says as she zooms into the kitchen to get the freshly baked cupcakes.
Flutter and Thunder watches their filly as her and her friends plays with the animals that Pinky’s friend Fluttershy brought over.
“Awwww, what a cute little bunny.” Sparkle Cloud said as she attempts to pet it until the bunny swiped at her and stuck out its tongue at her and hops away.
“Angel Bunny, how rude of you.” Fluttershy says as Angel Bunny just ignores her, “I am so sorry Sparkle Cloud, I don’t know what’s gotten into him.”
“It okay, he didn’t hurt me or anything.”
“Oh good.” Fluttershy sighed in relief.
“Hey Sparkle Cloud, check this out.” Scootaloo calls out from a small ramp, “It’s a new move that I’ve been working on for your birthday.” Scootaloo straps on her goggles, “Alright Rainbow Dash, push me.” Rainbow Dash pushes Scootaloo off, it was supposed to give her enough momentum for her to jump over a small tower of apples that Applejack brought over for Pinky Pie to use as treats, but instead Rainbow Dash pushed her a little to hard that she fell into the pile of apples.
Sparkle Cloud gasped she and the rest of the CMC go to make sure she’s okay.
“That. Was. AWESOME!!!” Scootaloo yelled as she jumps out of the apples, “Wasn’t it Rainbow Dash?”
“Sure was kid, but next time don’t delay so much on the announcement, it tends to have ponies to be a little mad.”
“Got it. So what do you that Sparkle, did you like it?”
“Only up till the you crashing part.” She tilts over to Apple Bloom, “Does this happen often?”
“Only on occasions like these.”
“Hey everypony. It’s cake time!” Pinky Pie yells as she brings out an ice cream chocolate cake with fudge icing, strawberries a flowers, and a message written in white chocolate that says, “Happy Birthday Our Little Sparkle”, and seven candles.
“Wow”
“That is some cake”
“Um, Pinky, don’t you think that this is a little too much chocolate for young fillies like these?” Rarity asks with a worried expression.
“Are you kidding, there’s no such thing as too much chocolate.” Pinky Pie says
The cake is set on a table. Everypony gathers around as Flutter Dust helps her filly so that she can see the candles that she’s going to have to blow out.
“Alright Sparkle Cloud make a wish and blow out your candles.” Thunder Storm says.
Sparkle Cloud closes her eyes and thinks of the best with that she can ever think of and blows out the candles. When she opened her eyes she sees that everypony is cheering. After that they all have a slices of cake and then it comes time for Sparkle to open her presents.
“Here open mine first Sparkle Cloud.” Sweetie Belle says as she hands over a box with sparkly wrapping paper.
“It’s from the both of us.” Rarity reminds her little sister.
In excitement Sparkle opens her present to find a hoof written card that says, “Welcome to the CMC”, and a yellow dress with small diamonds on the edge of the skirt.
“Wow, It’s so pretty, thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Rarity says
“Okay now mine.” Scootaloo says, “Hope you like it.”
Sparkle opens her gift and finds a “CMC starter kit” and it made her giggle, “Thank you Scootaloo, I’m sure I’ll need it.”
“I’m next.” Apple Bloom calls out.
It was a gold cape with the CMC “mascote” and with it came with a card that says, “You can’t be an honorary CMC member without your cape”.
“Wow, thank you so much.”
“Alright birthday girl, are you ready for me and your mother's gift.” Thunder says
Sparkle Cloud nods and opens an envelope and inside was a picture of with Sparkle Cloud was just born and she wa in her mothers arms as her father sits next to her mother as they both look fundly at the bundle as the words were at the right corner of the picture that says, “Today is the day that you came into our lives and since then we have never let you go and we never will <3.” This made Sparkle Cloud cry as she runs up and hugs her parents, for today truly is her best birthday ever.
