AUTHOR NOTE: Give it time and it will lead to Sunset and the Princess of the school campaign.

Moonlit Prism was a transfer student from Detroit. She had Navy Blue hair, black tank top with a blue splatter pattern, dark blue jeans, and black and blue hi-top shoes. She'd just arrived in Canterlot High when she saw someone amazing. Her hair was beautiful! The blue bordered perfectly with the cyan and no matter the angle, it always somehow looked as if the cyan was always in the middle. The hair blended perfectly with the black headphones. She was leaning up against a locker, cycling through music on an IPod, and when she looked satisfied, she put it in her pocket and started walking off. Moonlit followed, and after a while they nearly went full circle, but the girl stopped and looked alarmed. she pulled out her IPod and it was dead. Moonlit, having remembered phone, realized that her charger might fit the girl's IPod.

"Hey, did your Ipod die?
She nodded.
"You wanna try my charger? I'm not sure it will work, but its worth a shot."She nodded again. They went to the nearest outlet and plugged in the charger and it worked! "My names Moonlit, by the way."

"Vinyl"
She noticed the surrounding people's eyes widen and they start whispering to each other. Its as if something unheard of had just happened. then she realized they were all looking at her. Okay, what's going on? Vinyl walked away when it was charged and she was instantly crowded.

"You got her to talk?!"

"How did you do that?"

"That's amazing!"
Moonlit decided to just ask. "Whats going on?"

"No one has ever heard her voice before. Not since that cellist moved and before that was in kindergarten when she had to introduce herself to the teacher" Said a relatively small boy with scissors on his shirt." Moonlit was surprised. Vinyl was normally mute? She apparently couldn't live without her music. Good to know.

Later that day, She and Vinyl met up again, and Vinyl handed Moonlit her charger back.

"It charged?" To Moonlit's surprise, Vinyl answered verbally.

"Mostly. You get swarmed by people yet?"

"Yeah. You don't talk much, do you?"

"Nope. Not since 'Tavi moved. Not much before." This spiked Moonlit's interest. Who was Tavi?

"If you don't mind me asking, who was Tavi?"
Vinyl seemed to lock back up mostly after that. "Someone."
Moonlit could take a hint. "Wanna meet back up sometime later? Maybe tonight?"
Vinyl nodded and started writing something. "Hey, you live close?"

"27845 Sugarcube Ln." Vinyl looked around at the crowd that was amazed to hear Vinyl's smooth voice. Moonlit got the note back saying

9pm tonight The Neon Lighter

I'll pick you up
It was Moonlit's turn to nod.

That night, Once again, her parents were yelling and fighting, like always. Moon barely heard Vinyl knock and slipped out as quickly as she could, so as to not let Vinyl hear her parents. Vinyl heard, despite Moon's effort

"Whats going on in there?" Vinyl inquired.

"Same as every night. I have a tent and sleeping bag outback, believe it or not. I still don't get much sleep. I travel light because we get evicted from noise complaints WAY too often."

"When were done with tonight you can stay at my place. If they don't care."

"They shouldn't even notice i'm gone"

Later at The Neon Lighter, Vinyl and Moon had just each ordered a drink, but neither planned on getting too drunk. She was glad that the drinking age in Equestria was 18. It just made things so much better. Moon started the conversation.

"So, whats up?"

"Just wanted to get comfortable for talking about stuff."
Moon decided to hold off talking about Tavi "Why here?"

"I DJ here if I have tomorrow off school. How was it where you came from?"

"Detroit. Not easy to walk anywhere, in the part if town I lived in. I had to be tough just to survive. The only two things I could do is fight and mentally manipulate. I always did the latter if there was more than 1. How was it for you?"

"Pretty good, actually. Parents were rich, I was into dubstep, and I got my own mixing table. Whenever I wanted something, there it was. There wasn't much I wanted, though, I had it pretty good. I was always happy until recently when I kinda messed something up."

"Can't you just buy your way out of trouble?" Moon was confused for a second, but Vinyl elaborated

"I kinda messed up socially." Moon could tell that this was a touchy subject for her, but Vinyl didn't give Moon a chance to stop her. "Her name was Octavia. my ex." She was about to mentally burst from excitement from hearing that Vinyl liked other girls, and she was single, for about a millisecond. She realized from how she spoke that Vinyl didn't take the breakup very lightly. "She was lead cellist for the school band, and loved classical. We'd never fight about anything, and we very quickly came to an understanding about our seemingly opposite musical tastes that we would never agree in a million years. This didn;t make much of a difference in the relationship, it was someone else. Sunset Shimmer. She's always the one who causes all the problems, and she has it out for me. Apparently, what I heard from Tavi's friends, Sunset sent a text saying something that made Tavi move away just so she never sees me again. And I've always hated Sunset, but ever since then, I've been trying to figure out a way to ruin her life forever. I know that there's no way to fix it with Tavi, but i can still win this fight."
Moon had no idea what to say. "i'm in. What could she lose that we could with."

"The Princess of the School. You could run."

"It's on."

They got back to Vinyl's place and had to share a bed, but obviously neither of them minded.

It was Tuesday, and when she woke up, Vinyl still had her shades on. She promised herself that she would see Vinyl's eyes. In the meantime, she decided to make breakfast. It was about an hour before school. She found the kitchen and made 2 sandwiches. One for her, and one for Vinyl when she woke up. She thought about how she would beat someone like that. She could fight, psychically or mentally. But she couldn't scheme very well. The campaign starts today, so time to get some dirt on Sunset. If there wasn't any, she would have to make some. She heard bed springs shifting, and Vinyl got up shortly after. She grabbed one of the sandwiches and brought it to her.

"Mornin' Vinyl."

"Morning. You ready to start taking down Sunset today?

"Definitely. Where do we start?"

"Don't know. I do have an idea, though. Sunset has 2 little kids that always do what she asks. If we develop some sort of romantic entanglement, Sunset's gonna blow her top. Especially if Flash hears about it."

"Who?" Moon had an idea that it might be Sunset's boyfriend. She was right.

"Sunset's BF. She's only using him to gain popularity, though."

"Then if this doesn't work, that's our fallback. Am I right?" Moonlit inquired.

"Yes. how are we going to go about this, though?

"Just like any other election ever. Posters. You have big paper, tape, and markers? I have a good hand." Vinyl nodded, and they got to work. Each poster said :

Why does Sunset keep

Snips and Snails around?

Does Flash know about this?

Who votes cheater for princess?

Vote Moon, Not Sun

"This will only end badly if we are seen together any more then we have been." Moon commented, still making more posters.

"You're right. Text when you need to, and don't let anyone you can't trust see."

"That I can't trust? Who can I trust?"

"Sunset has open enemies. People who can help beat her. The most known one will be Rainbow Dash, the captian of the soccer and baseball teams. She will have rainbow-colored hair. Knowing that, she will be easy to find. tell her your running against Sunset and you got a very powerful ally. Look by the soccer field."

Later at school, while she was on her way to the soccer field, she saw someone who could only be Sunset, picking on someone with pink hair, green skirt, and animals in her backpack. Moon saw her on her walk around the school yesterday, following Vinyl. She was obviously very shy, and this was a perfect opportunity to she what she was dealing with.

"Just because MY big event is coming up, doesn't mean you should take out your stress on weaker people then yourself."

"And just who do you think you are?"

"The one who's going to borrow your crown. Just for a year or so."

"Big words. Hey, I know you, you got little miss disk jockey to talk."

"Oh that? That's just my natural charm. I have a way with people."
Sunset looked mad, then calmed herself. "Whatever you say, big mouth. Speaking of big mouth, you do much else than eat, drink or talk?"
"I cough. *cough*CoveringFor*cough*YourSelf*cough* Fun Fact, People often blame people for things that they do themselves, as to shift the attention away from themselves."

"I'm not done with you!" Sunset yelled as she stormed off.

"You okay?" Moon asked the shy girl.

"yes" Moon barely heard her.

"Whats your name?"

"flutter-" The rest was too quiet to understand

"One more time. please?"

"fluttershy" Moon had to listen hard to hear it at all. She wasn't sure she heard right at all.

"Fluttershy?"
Fluttershy nodded

"Well don't worry, She'll be focused on me from now on. You should be fine from now on." Moon felt a tap on her shoulder.

"That was smooth. How you handled Sunset." Moon heard as she turned. Moon saw a girl with rainbow colored hair and white tank top.

"You really running against her for princess?"

"Yep. You must be Rainbow Dash?"

"You heard about me?"

"Your one of Sunset's enemies, right? I might need all the help I can get."

"You got the jock vote. Ill try for the hipster vote too.

"You'r a live saver. I know how to get the nerd vote easy. Where should we go after that?"

"You also got Vinyl to talk, so there's the music vote."
Moon was relived that all she had to do was secure the nerd vote. Should be easy. She found her way to the library, and went in. No one here. Time to try the computer lab, which was all the way across the school. With her new enemy, she could only wonder if this will be eventful. She'd been walking for about 5 minutes, when she saw someone speed running through the school, going super fast for being only on her legs. She looked like Rainbow, only her hair was different shades of grey instead of a rainbow, and her skin looked a sort of light brown. she was being quickly chased by a mob. No way they would catch her. She decided to follow, fading in to the mob, and when they were all tired, Moon decided to speed up, having much more stamina than everyone else. She found the girl laying on top of some lockers, out of breath.

"What was the mob about?"

"Sunset sent her little lap dogs to tell Ahuizotl where I was so he would try to catch me again. Hey, your the girl who got Vinyl to talk, and your running against Sunset. It's risky, Even if your winning the vote count, she's going to ruin you on stage. I just know it, it's how she is. I can try to help you with that, if you want."

"I can tell, I'm gonna need all the help I can get."

"I'll be above the stage whenever your on it."

"Hey, why am I getting all this free help?"

"Everyone hates Sunset. Names Do, by the way. nickname's Daring Do. I'm the parkour master. I can outrun anyone, even the guards. If I have to."

"I'm just glad that this isn't a lost cause." Moon continued on her way to the computer lab, glad she had made allies with someone to guard the stage. She'd had mud dumped on her on stage in 5th grade, and didn't want that to happen again. When she got to the computer lab, she saw Vinyl there, walking out of the lab as she was only getting there.

"We have their vote?" Vinyl nodded. "Sunset should have too much trouble handling Flash, because of the posters. What now?"

"Act normal 'till Friday."

Chapter 3: Vinyl's Eyes.

Vinyl had just woken up, on a Thursday morning, and once again Moon had gone before Vinyl even got a chance to do anything. She got up, and went to the kitchen where, as always, there was a sandwich waiting for her. She ate, grabbed her headphones, and walked to school. She got there just in time to see Moon , Do, and Rainbow, all talking about something. She joined in.

"What's up?" Do was still not used to hearing her voice, and she could tell. Rainbow replied.

"Turns out, Sunset is planning something. I cant' get either snips or snails to talk. Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo are working on it. I doubt they'll get anything, though." Do finally decided to speak up.

"They might have anyone in on it. We don't even know who to bribe. I'll still be up there, but Rainbow has to watch her people. If the jocks get up there, not much I or anyone else can do. Be ready for anything up there, okay, Moon?"

"I got this. I still won school president in 5th grade even after they dumped mud on me on stage. Anyone who ran back there had to be able to deal with literally anything."
Vinyl's turn "You need music in the background?

"Whatever you can do that wont overpower my voice." They began their walk to the stage. On the way they saw Sunset's Crash-And-Burn smile. This can't go well.

It was speech time. The stage was hardwood, and red curtains. This would determine who got the crown tomorrow. Vinyl Lowered volume to near mute and laid down a simple bass line and a kick-drum beat with the electronic filter. Should suffice. All she had to do was wait for the speech. Then there it was.

"Hey, everyone. I'm here because someone has to overthrow Sunset, right? Okay, I know my parents are loud. I know they always fight."
What was she doing?! "Yes, I am from the worst part of this country. But, at least I care about people who deserve it." Vinyl by know was in the crowd. She noticed Rainbow just showing up, out of breath. She started giving the Cut signal, just in time too. Pig blood poured and splashed the middle of the stage. Where Moon would have been, had rainbow been any later. Moon couldn't resist the opportunity. She still had the mic.

"Looks like someone is despera-" There was a thunk of metal on bone. Whoever was up there threw a bloody cast-iron bucket with more speed than anything she'd ever seen. For a second, she just stood there stunned. Was Moon still alive? When moon hit the ground, it jogged Rainbow back to life. Which, in turn, revived Vinyl. They both sprinted to the stage. Rainbow, obviously getting there first, lifted her head to see if she was conscious. She wasn't. Vinyl felt her wrists, her heart was slowing. She looked up, no one there. Obviously not Do. Who did this?
She felt the slowing pulse come to a stop. At this point, Vinyl was tearing up. No one else could tell, due to her shades. Vinyl was finally going to move on. From Octavia. And Vinyl got her killed. She didn't even get to show Moon her eyes.

At the hospital, Vinyl could barely stand to see Moon like this. The one who Vinyl wanted so badly, used as a weapon against Sunset for revenge, The one who would still be here if Vinyl wasn't so obsessed with her from first sight. There was a slow heartbeat. The Doctors managed to revive her. They fixed what she broke. Vinyl decided that if moonlit made it through this, she didn't deserve to see her. Ever again.
