“I know you can do this Gummy! you're the best alligator baker I’ve ever meet!” giving him a gentle kiss on the nose, Pinkie rushed out the door. In an innocent matter Gummy fell from the weight of the whisk given to him by Pinkie and blinked.

Once sure Pinkie had started hopping off towards Twilights glimmering castle, He stood up, jumped from the kitchen bench and made his way out the bakery door.

Along he went. down the paths of Ponyville, in an ignorant bliss.

Meanwhile, Rose Luck trotted along happily enjoying her day off from tending to ponies gardens, let's face it, it wasn't always the best experience. One time, some shameful stallion called Night Light tried to flirt with her whilst she was watering and tending to the flowers he had request she tend to! Cringing at the awful memory she trotted on only to cross paths with Gummy.

Obviously at first this mare was confused to why a baby alligator was roaming the streets of Ponyville, but then quickly realizing this must be the well known party planner Pinkie Pie’s pet alligator Gummy, she smiled at the small creature. “Hello?” she said half decidedly, it did feel quite strange to talk to a type of crocodile. The alligator only blinked in response. “I’m Rose Luck.. you must be uh Pinkie Pie’s umm pet?” she stuttered. The alligator said nothing but blinked for a reply. Finding this not the most satisfactory answer, but going along with it anyway, she continued to walk, but now accompanied by her new reptilian friend.

“So wheres Pinkie Pie anyway?” Rose asked curiosity very faintly tracing in her voice. The reptile only blinked. “Oh, right. You can’t talk. Well that’s slightly disappointing. But then again a lot of ponies have disappointed me…” she trailed off. remembering the fuzzy image of a brown coated stallion with blue eyes and a dark mane, trotting off to a blue box... “Eee!” squeaked Rose stumbling over a stone and being pulled out of her trance. “I’m ok!” She smiled at the alligator who stood blinking.
Just blinking.

I wonder what he’s thinking.. Rose Luck pondered as the two unlikely friends continued to walk.

Rose sniffed deeply. “mmm, you smell that Gummy?” she smiled to her scaly pal. Without response she continued, “it smells like- she took another deep breath -mm! Hay fries!” she exclaimed beaming. “You know what? I’m kinda hungry. Lets go get something to eat!” she happily laughed as she trotted excitedly down the path- slow enough so Gummy wouldn't be left behind mind you.

Walking into a restaurant with an alligator wasn't something you see everyday. But Rose was use to the odd looks. Making her way to the counter she smiled at the stallion who tended to it and said, “Hello, I would like some Hay fries and uhh do you sell alligator food?” she questioned, blushing at how silly it sounded.

“Alligator food?” the stallion questioned a laugh hidden in his eyes.

“Umm yea..” Rose said quietly tenderly picking up Gummy and showing him to the stallion.

“Oh, uh I don’t know.. Heh heh..”

Dam. He probably thought the mare was crazy.

“Uhh never mind.. I’ll just go.. Come on Gummy..” The mare said blushing at this cringe worthy experience. Gently putting the alligator down they trotted out of the restaurant, only to find a very unexpected sight.

a dragon.

Time Froze. Rose stared. A million questions drifted through her mind. Where are the elements of Harmony? Why is there a dragon here? What does it want? Where did it come from? Why isn't anypony doing anything? Finally snapping back to reality Rose snatched up Gummy and ran.

Panting and puffing, Rose glanced down at her hooves to where Gummy was being held and gasped.

Gummy was gone.

“Gummy!? Gummy?!!” she screamed worriedly only to find Gummy standing in front of the towering dragon.

Blinking.

Unmoving.

“Gummy!” Rose yelled out running towards her scaly companion. The dragon roared as Rose tried to snatch the alligator away. “Oi! you ugly brute! yeah, you're kind of scary, But I don’t like you tearing down innocent ponies homes- a-and hurting my f-friends!” she screamed.

The dragon didn't reply.

Rose heard a voice in her head.

“I can hear you Rose Luck”. It was deep, low and dangerously soft.

“I can see you. I can see your wildest dreams, your deepest nightmares,
what you were and what you are, who you will be and can be.

"I can see what you want, but wont happen, I can see the choice, the most terrible choice.
I can see”

“No..” Rose whispered clutching Gummy closer to her chest

The voice continued.”The girl who waited, but no pony came.
The girl who hid her feelings away from the world, the girl who found her friendship with an alligator”.

“I-I” Rose Luck stuttered. “Your right!”

“what?” the voice asked, confused.

“You’re right. I am the girl who waited but no pony came, I am the girl who hid her feelings from the world, I am the girl who found friendship with an alligator. But you know what? I’m that girl. And I’m PROUD!”

These last words echoed out. The dragon screeched a magical dust flew around the horrid creature. it shrunk, down, down, down, until it was a meer Lizard, and slithered away. Where did he go? who knows. Some say he fled to the mountains. Afraid, and alone. Some say he died in fury and rage that a pony defeated him. Some say he was the darkness itself, the same darkness that overtook nightmare moon. Some say he was just a lonely soul, looking for revenge from a long lost anguish. But really. Who knows? Maybe we will never know. Rose looked at Gummy. Gummy looked at Rose, and blinked.
But then again, that's all he ever did.
blink.
