When Vinyl Scratch goes to school, she is made fun of and feared for having such devilish eyes and is forced to hide behind glasses. Not yet having her cutie mark, she doesn't think she has a meaning in life and contemplates many things to end the harrasment, and possibly end her life.

Chapter 1: Vinyl

Chapter 1: Vinyl
Vinyl was an odd filly at birth, and doctors didn't think she was going to live past three weeks. All of the nurses seem to avoid Vinyl because she had devilish red eyes. She didn't eat, she didn't drink sleep. All she did was slowly get lost in the metronome of the leaky sink across the hallway. Doctors were worried thinking that she may have had brain damage and would end up in the same condition as that Derpy filly that was released from the ICU 3 months ago.

In spite of all of the Doctors conclusions, Vinyl went home from the hospital 3 weeks after birth. Vinyls mother was a well know composer, as was her father. Vinyls father had been hoping to have a healthy baby that will follow in his hoof-prints in the later years, and this wasn't his first try to have his perfect daughter. Vinyls sister, who seemed to have the same symptoms as her, died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 2.

At home, things were as normal as any other. She woke up, was fed, burped, changed and of course, listened to the constant beat of a leaky well in the back yard. She didn't say much, and hadn't learned how to write yet because all she could do was listen to the harmony of nature working together.

Finally, her second birthday came, and she was just learning how to talk. Vinyls mother was frustrated and very upset because she had a close deadline to finish a new composition, and had to work on her only daughters second birthday. She was even more pissed because she wasn't at her first daughters second birthday either.

The birthday party was full of her composers, gifts, and wonderful music which seemed to make vinyl jump in excitement. While she was "dancing" her father was busy talking to famous musicians, and very important people, like the father of a young colt by the name of Filthy Rich. Mr.Rich was looking over a contract with a signature on it. Vinyl had been learning how to read very well, and she was barely able to make out the signature "Mr.Scratch". She didn't know what it meant, so she discarded the contract and continued dancing to a composure by Neil Oboe. She wasn't really into this music, so she went to see her daddy.
"Dada I'm Two!!!!" Vinyl spits out. "Yes mhmm." "I two i two!!!!!" "Yes dear i know that!" Vinyls father yells and pushes her off of him. *THUD* "Owwwwiee!"

A few hours later, the party ended and Mr.Rich walked out the door, still holding the contract, and glaring at Vinyl. "Happy birthday Ms.Scratch" Mr.Rich throws into the room while escorting his son out the door. The door closes in an awkward silence, and then a sigh from Vinyls father. "i two...." Vinyl awkwardly whispered.

"Ginger, can you go out back for a moment, i have a very special present to show you.

"Ya dada." as Vinyl went out back, she looked around and didn't see anything. "Dada wha......." Everything goes black for vinyl.
"Momma?" vinyl lets out as she awakens in a dark room with only a bed, and a dirt tub filled with water. The room is grey colored with only a door, and a cracked mirror. A voice came from behind the door, and she recognized it. "Just stay in their and don't cause any trouble." Vinyl heard hoof prints until the sound disappeared.

Young filly Vinyl roamed the room until she saw a corner blanketed by a shroud of darkness. In the corner was a skeleton of another young filly. When she approached the corpse, she saw a necklace with the name "Scratch." Identical to the one she was currently wearing, and she started to cry.

Months went by with little food to eat and contaminated water to drink~~~~~It had been two years since she saw her mother, her father, and even light .She was crying as she did every night, even though there were no more tears. Her sight started to fade and she felt very weak. As she started to fade, she heard a rhythmical bang. She got lost in the sound and refused to let go. She realized that the sound was starting to get louder and louder until it was right on the door of her cell. The door burst open with police officers and doctors. Vinyl was confused and couldn't move, so she just let the doctors rush her away on a rolling bed. She was being rushed from Mr.Riches house, as was he in hoofcuffs. He was sat right next to her father also in hoofcuffs. The last thing she saw before blacking out was the police men putting two pieces of paper into a bag marked evidence. One was the contract she saw two years before, and another was an identical paper contract, but older.

She woke up in the hospital and looked over at her sleeping mother. "Momma, can you get me some water?" This awoke her mother.
"Hiii sweety. I have a surprise for you."
"Really, what is it." says vinyl
"You're first day of school starts in a few weeks". Vinyl is excited and is babbling on to her mother how she can't wait until she gets to meet other fillies.
