Scootaloo ran into her classroom, out of breath and ten minutes late. Miss Cheerilee forced a smile at the orange filly and told her to take her seat before continuing the lesson. When the bell rung to signal lunch time Scootaloo grabbed her bag and ran through the main doors. Sweetiebelle and Applebloom tried desperatley to catch up to their friend.

"Scootaloo what's wrong?" Applebloom called in her thick accent. Scootaloo halted suddenly and her two friends crashed into her.

"Oh girls it's awful! Just awful!" Scootaloo turned to face them, her eyes filling with tears.

"I'm getting adopted!" Sweetiebelle and Applebloom looked at each other in confusion.

"Scootaloo I thought that's what you wanted." Sweetiebelle said unsurely.

"Did that family you like not want you?" Applebloom chipped in.

"It's them who're adopting me but they never told me they live in Canterlot!" She whined, her tears starting to fall now with a grace that Scootaloo herself didn't have.

"Canterlot?! You're moving to Canterlot?! But what about us? What about the Cutie Mark Crusaders!" Applebloom asked as Sweetiebell wrapped her arm around her friend.

"It's okay, we can write to each other everyday and Scootaloo can start a Canterlot branch like Babs did in Manehattan!" Sweetiebell said. Scootaloo rubbed the tears from her eyes.

"You'd really write to me every day?" Scootaloo asked with a smile and her friends nodded. The three friends cheered up instantly and started to play and chat about what life in Canterlot will be like.

Scootaloo waited patiently for her train with Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Rarity.

"Are you sure that's everything, Scootaloo?" Rarity asked, eyeing the one small suitcase Scootaloo was taking with her to Canterlot.

"Yup!" Scootaloo replied, staring at the train track, leaning forward slightly.

"But darling, I take more than with me just to go on holiday!" She pressed. Sweetie Belle kicked her leg and glared at her, making Rarity yelp. The two began to argue so Apple Bloom stood next to her best pegasus friend.

"You will write to us, won't you Scootaloo?" She asked nervously, scraping her hoof against the ground.

"Of course I will! Why wouldn't I?!" She answered, dragging her gaze away from the tracks to her friend.

"Well I just thought, with your fancy new life in Canterlot, you might forget about us." Apple Bloom muttered the last sentence, avoiding eye contact. Scootaloo laughed.

"I'll never forget you guys! I promise I will write if you promise to write back." she said, giving her friend a gentle shove. Apple Bloom beamed. "You got yourself a deal." The two burst into laughter just as the train came whistling to a stop in front of them. Suddenly Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle tackled Scootaloo into a crushing hug that she didn't resist.

"I'll miss you guys." she muttered so that nobody else could hear. A tallish, light blue pegasus with a red and purple mane and red tail stepped off the train and stood in front of the three ponies. She had green eyes, headphones for a cutie mark and four black studs down the side of one ear.

"I'm guessing this is Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom? Scootaloo has told us all about you in her letters." the blue mare smiled.

"Uhm, yes, hello ma'am." Apple Bloom mumbled.

"Are you Scootaloos new mother?" Sweetie Belle blurted out. Apple Bloom kicked her and hissed that she needs to be polite but Scootaloo and the blue pony simply laughed.

"This is my sister Zalia but we call her Zee" Scootaloo explained to her two friends happily.

"Come on Scootaloo, we should get going. You two are welcome to visit anytime." Zee smiled before using a wing to pick up Scootaloos small shabby case and carry it on board.

"Bye guys! Don't forget to write!" Scootaloo said, giving her friends one last quick hug before running on board after her new sister, ready to start her new life.

The train ride to Canterlot was uneventful. Scootaloo stared out of the window for a while before drifting into a deep sleep. She had spent many nights unable to sleep from a mix of nerves and excitement. When she eventually woke up she was laid on a soft sofa and could hear crying from another room.

"Good morning Scootaloo." she heard a male voice say. She rubbed her eyes and looked around the room she was in. On the other side of the room was a tall white stallion with a dark blue mane flecked with white and matching eyes. Her adoptive father, Starry Night. He helps guard the Canterlot Castle at night.

"Good morning father." She smiled.

"Sorry about the crying, Amy is hungry, it'll stop soon." He smiled. Amy, short for Chocolate Amethyst, is the baby of family. Raphael is the second youngest and the only griffon of the family. Next is Scootaloo, followed by Candy Nature and finally is Zee. Her new mother trotted in, Amy in her arm drinking a bottle if milk.

"Good morning Scootaloo." Elise smiled as she walked into the room.

"Good morning mother. Where is everyone?" Just as she said it the door swung open and excited chattering could be heard.

"Is she awake yet?" she heard Candy shout. Raphael skidded into the room.

"She is she is she is!" He squealed. Candy Nature followed him and the two stared at their new sister.

"Would you like to come play outside with us?" Candy asked. Scootaloo looked to Zee who was stood in the doorway. She nodded so Scootaloo followed her siblings out of the house alongside Amy who was walking uncertainly.

"Do you have any new tricks for us?" Raphael asked. Candy thought for a moment before nodding. She stood on top of a box and begun to talk in a loud voice.

"And today, I will be tightrope walking!" She yelled. Scootaloo, Raphael and Amy clapped and she tied a rope around a tree trunk and a fence. She carefully walked across the rope, wobbling slightly and falling in the middle. Scootaloo rushed forward to help her but Candy shrugged her off and stood up before trying again. This time she made it all the way across and bowed as her three younger siblings clapped again. She walked backwards and forward again, doing a few 'tricks' in the middle of the rope. Suddenly a bright flash knocked her off the rope.

"Time to come back inside kids!" Elise chirped from inside and rain began to fall on top of their heads.

"Come on Scootaloo, we have a glass roof so we can watch thunderstorms from the attic." Raphael told her. They all grabbed blankets and popcorn and settled down in the attic to watch as the lightning flashed overhead.

Dear Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom,
So I arrived in Canterlot a few hours ago, so far it's great. We had a lightning storm, did you? We all sat in the attic, it has a glass roof so we could see and hear everything! Oh and we had loads of popcorn and aftera bit we had some grass toffee Candy made. I thought it would be weird but it was special grass. It's my first day at my new school tomorrow, I'm really excited but really nervous too! If there are any more blank flanks I'll start a Canterlot branch of the Cutie Mark Crusaders :) I gotta sleep now but I'll write again soon :)
Love Scootaloo

"You're sure they'll like me?" Scootaloo asks nervously.

"What's not to like?" Zalia laughs as they make their way to school, Candy and Raphael skipping ahead. Before Scootaloo can answer a unicorn comes racing in.

"Hey Zalia! Awwh, is this Scootaloo?! I guess this is your first day huh? Don't worry, You'll love it there. My daughter Flossy goes there, she's in your year. Flossy, get your flank over here! So what do you like to do? Zee told me you have a scooter? I'd love to see you do some tricks on it some time. Maybe we could-" She's interrupted when Zalia sticks a hoof in her mouth.

"May, shut up for a sec. Scootaloo this is one of my co-workers at Metaculous Records, Maybury Musica. She's great but she never shuts up." Zee laughs.

"And this is is my daughter Candy Floss!" Maybury says, pointing to the filly who just joined them.

"Hi Scootaloo, you can just call me Flossy. You excited for your first day?" Flossy asks. A dark purple unicorn with a large mass of frizzy pink hair atop her head. Scootaloo noticed her cutie mark was a cone of cotton candy, the kind you get at a fair. As they walked into the school gates another unicorn ran over to them.

"Scootaloo this is my best friend Skipper. Skipper, this is Scootaloo, the new girl." Skipper had a light blue mane tied into a messy bun and dark green fur and, to Scootaloos dismay, three blue butterflies for a cutie mark. Scootaloo tried to remind herself that this was inevitable.

"Come on Scootaloo, we'll show you around." Skipper says, throwing a hoof over Scootaloos shoulder.

"You're gonna love it here. We have all different kinds of lessons and even afterschool groups. Hey maybe one would help you get your cutie mark!" She said, getting excited.

"Oh and we could help! It'd be like a mission!" Flossy added. They looked expectantly to Scootaloo. She glanced quickly across the school grounds but knew that finding a pony without a cutie mark would be hard in such a big place. She nodded and smiled widely.

"The Cutie Mark Crusade is on!" Skipper shouted. Scootaloo felt a pang of misery as she thought of the two friends she left behind but the excitement radiating from Skipper and Flossy was enough to cheer her up again as she prepared to start her first day at the new school.
