The Beginning
This is the second of the two stories that I will primarily work on until I think they are done.
The Moment in Our World.
Duncan raised a contraption to eye level and examined it.
"Appears the screw came loose dude." A young man on the larger side looked up from a monitor and chuckled light-heartily.
"Well that's good." This is Nicholas Marchello, these two are working on a machine-of-sorts that would, in theory, allow them to look into other dimensions, worlds, levels of reality, what ever you want to call it. Duncan McLark and Nicholas Marchello are two of the few people that know of the fact that there are other worlds layered upon and beneath our own, and as such, wanted to see what the inhabitants did in their daily lives.
"You know," Duncan said, "I never thought that I would be correct."
"Yeah, being able to know what other lives other than our own are like? Can you imagine something better?" Nicholas gushed over the details that went into this idea.
After months they appeared to have completed their machine. As the contraption warmed up they prepared the algorithms that would propel them through the void that lay in between the worlds. Upon getting into the seat they looked at each other, "So this is what we do, is it? I am wondering what they will think of us in the other world Nic."
Nic appeared in thought for a moment, "I have not the slightest idea." As he responded the machine began the process to send them to their destination. Suddenly they heard an alarm go off just as excruciating agony ripped through their body and they atomized from their world.
Arrival in Equestria
Rainbow Dash flew through the skies above Ponyville looking for any pony foolish enough not to help out in winter wrap upthis year, when lighting struck just out side the Ever-free forest, seventeen times. Fighting to remain conscious, Duncan struggled to his feet looking for Nic.
"Nic...please...r-respond t-to my voice-", his sentence cut off as he fell into a coughing fit,coughing a little blood into his palm. Noticing Nic he staggered over and picked him up. Blood pouring from their wounds they moved from the forest.
Rainbow Dash landed to see two pegasi stumble from the Everfree forest, confusion and recognition flashed barely noticed across ones face. "Stay right there!" She could here the worry in her voice. Rainbow Dash took to the sky and looked at the path and saw Twilight and the others coming, she looked back down at the two and saw the pegasus gone. Where did he go? She looked around franticly for him.
Twilight and the others came underneath Rainbow. Twilight called up to Rainbow Dash, "Rainbow Dash, whats wrong we found him, come on down."
Rainbow Dash looked around frantically, Where did he go?!, She looked at twilight and said, "There were two, Twilight."
Twilight looked worried, then thoughtful, "I could adjust Rarity's gem finding spell to look for him, but that would involve part of him." She searched for a moment then found a piece of cloth that didn't belong to the other one. After casting the spell and a half hour of searching the found him, lying bleeding heavily in front of a piece of scorched earth.
Canterlot, That night.
Celestia unfurled the letter from Twilight, thinking that she found another lesson in friendship. What she found was very different, the letter read like so,
Dear, Celestia
I know that i am only supposed to write concerning the matter of friendship and dire emergencies, but this is a concerning event. We found a pegasus and alicorn on the edge of the Everfree forest following multiple freak lighting strikes in the same area. I am asking you to visit as soon as possible.
Your student, Twilight Sparkle
Celestia took a moment to process the letter, then called Shining armor in and told him that she would be taking a week for herself and heading to Ponyville.
The Next Day
Nicholas awoke to some one talking, "Damn it Duncan, I am sleeping."
"Duncan?", the voice said, "Is that his name?" Nicholas opened his eyes and saw a girl of maybe seventeen eighteen years of age, with rainbow colored hair, cyan wings and a sports outfit on.
"What the hell? I am really hoping this is a dream, but, where am I?" Nicholas went over how he got here, No impossible, I can't remember? That's bullshit, oh shit I really can't remember.. Nicholas felt panic begin to over take him, he began to hyperventilate.
Rainbow Dash rubbed his back and spoke to him, "Calm down. It's okay, some of my friends are going to help you, 'kay? Your not the only one."
Nicholas heard her, but he was thinking of our world, Weren't me and Duncan working on a machine? God what was it going to do! Nicholas stood and fell back to his knees. "Why can't I stand?", he asked through gritted teeth.
"You broke one of your legs. I wouldn't try flying or magic for a while." Rainbow Dash answered.
"Hold on, I can fly? And use Magic? What the hell are you smoking?" Nic looked up at her in disbelief.
Rainbow looked puzzled, ".....Yeah, we thought you knew."
Nic felt like he was forgetting something important, "Okay, so can I see the other one?" At that moment the door burst open and a girl with pink hair came bouncing in.
"Not until you can walk silly!" She grinned with a happy-go-lucky feeling. Nic felt like this might not be so bad.
Duncan opened his eyes and looked around as he began to remember the trip through the void. He looked around and saw a cluttered room full of books and papers. A dragon was asleep in the corner, as Duncan stood and looked at him self.
Potential fracture in the upper arm, bandages on chest, as he bent over pain rippled through his body, cracked or broken ribs, ow... He stood and thanked the heavens that he was wearing pants, as he walked out of the room careful not to wake the dragon. He saw a library spread out before him. Duncan felt a light tug at his back when he tried to continue further, he looked back and saw wings, avian wings? Is this Equestria? He walked down and grabbed a book, sat down and began to read.
A few hours later a girl with purple hair and a pink strip, walked from the door underneath the stairs, and saw Duncan sitting in his bandages, reading. She realized she was still in her pajamas and rushed back in the room, her face beat red.
Twilight breathed a sigh of relief when he didn't knock, That would have been a disaster, she thought to her self as she dressed in her outfit for the day. For some reason she felt the need to impress him so she chose carefully. She came out and looked at him, "So I see your an early riser, I am Twilight-"
"-Sparkle, yes I assumed," he finished, "I was readying through this book and your name is signed in the front cover." Duncan stood and looked uncomfortable for a minute.
"Did you, undress me?" He asked. Twilight blushed and shook her head.
"You will meet the others later, they'll be going to the park." Twilight ducked her head and went to go wake spike for the day.
A few hours later, Nicholas and Duncan were introduced to the mane six. After much talking they came to the night of the lighting.
"You want to know what we were doing out there that night?" Duncan looked reluctant to answer the question.
"Why yes, darling of course. It is a bit of a mystery." Rarity said.
"I am going to be honest I don't remember." Duncan spread his hands to his sides.
Nic just shook his head, "I was hoping that you could help me with that."
Duncan shook his head slowly from side to side, "Nah dude, I can't, its not quiet what happened to you but something like it." Fluttershy mutely listened thinking to her self, Something doesn't quite add up, but what?
