Cadance's Point Of View

I gulped as the cyan colored Pegasus neared towards the ground like a missile. Her multicolored mane becoming a blur just like her body, and her wings stuck out looking ready to carry her back up. The sky around her was cloudless and blue. Making it tricky to see her, doubled with the fact she was about to break the sound barrier.

Then came the boom. A ringing sound of an explosion rocked through the air. Followed by it was an array of light colored by the colors of a rainbow. The Sonic-Rainboom truly was.... beautiful. Like a rare five-leaf clover colored yellow. But, it would be more entertaining to try to attempt the move.

Rainbow Dash hovered over to the balcony where I was standing and started to talk, "Well Princess. What did you think?"

"A very beautiful performance, Miss Dash. But, how do you do it?" I asked with a nervous face.

"Practice, and just having the guts to fly downward. It feels really good when I break the sound barrier, I get this huge surge of energy and get faster and faster. Then I fly back upwards before I hit the ground," she explained.

"Theoretically, could an alicorn of my size do this move?"

"Sure. An alicorn would probably do it better, and move faster too."

"Really?!" I asked with a smile on my face.

"Yup. But, you aren't going to try this are you?"

"Of course not. I'm a princess and we don't get to do cool things."

"That stinks. I wanted to challenge you to a race. But looks like I can't," she yawned," I think i'm gonna take a nap. Later, Princess Cadence."

Rainbow Dash fluttered off of the balcony and rested on a nearby moving cloud. She nestled down and closed her eyes. Passing out on the spot.

I groaned unhappily and walked back inside of the castle. After making my way down some stairs I found myself in the throne room. I rested on the uncomfortable seat, and pouted down at the ground.

I really want to race against Rainbow Dash. Or maybe even try to out perform her by making an even stronger and larger Sonic Rainboom. I need to feel the wind moving against my mane and coat. The taste of excitement pumping through my blood like a harmless posion, powering me to move beyond the speed of sound. I need to go outside and fly. And dive down. I need to break the sound barrier.

My body needs the adrenaline. I want the adrenaline. I'm an adrenaline head.

"Sweetie what's wrong?" I heard my husband, Shining Armor, ask as he walked into the room.

Shining Armor approached me, and used his magic to levitate his helmet off. He had a smile on his face.

I replied, "Just a little.... bored."

"Really? You're bored? But you just saw a Sonic Rainboom a minute ago. Did you hate it?"

"I loved it. But I want to preform one too."

He raised an eyebrow, "But, you're a princess. You can't do anything fun. It's a taboo for royalty to enjoy their life."

"That's such a stupid rule. Who came up with it anyway?"

He placed a hoof on his chin and thought, "Last I checked it was King Sombra who made this law, and Princess Celestia signed the bill, making it a law affecting every royal in Equstria. "

"Why would Tia approve such a stupid decision?"

"She had a bad day. Prince Blue Blood kept slacking off and playing croquet instead of feeding the orphans. The law was to make sure he always did his work. Also, the reason Sombra even asked for such a law was to make his rule over the empire much more miserable for him, increasing his dark magic," he said with a dull tone.

My left eye twitched. I then said, "H-how does that work?"

"It's magic. It's as random and unpredictable as the lottery. Anyway, I better go back to my post. See you at dinner, sweetie," he waved. He blew me a kiss as he left the throne room.

I stared out the stain-glass window to my left. Just clear skies. Tons of space for me to glide around. My heart skipped a beat as I saw a bird fly by the window. I took a deep breath.

Rainbow Dash's Point Of View

"Hey. Rainbow Dash. Wake up," a voice whispered in my ear.

My eyes fluttered open. Princess Cadance hovered in front of me with a somewhat creepy smile on her face.

"What? Wait. I thought princesses can't have fun. Isn't this illegal?" I asked worried.

She used her horn to lift me off of my cloud, and opened my wings for me. I started to flap them by myself though.

"That's ok. I'm royalty. I am the law," she replied.

I raised an eyebrow.

"How about a race? From the castle to the edge of the empire," she asked while pointing a hoof to the end of the empire where the snow is visible.

Excited by this challenge. I nodded, and made my face show determination.

The race soon started when the pink alicorn took off without any warning. She was over a yard away from by the time I went after her. Cadence wasn't very fast, but she had a good head start.

I took off right after. Easily catching up the larger pony. She flew beside me with a grin on her face and both of her eyes were glued open. It seemed as if she was being taken over by something. Maybe she wanted to win really badly.

I ignored her, and focused on the race. I shifted my view forward; there was nothing ahed but air. Far away was the edge of the empire, where it lead to the snow filled area.

It seemed like it was going to be an easy victory for me. However, Cadance had sped up, and slammed into the right side of my body. I was knocked back a bit and quickly Cadance was already meters away.

With a shake of my body, I flapped my blue colored wings harder, and picked up more speed. I neared the princess and flapped my wings faster and faster. Soon I was flying right beside her.

She glared at me, and then slammed into the side of my body again. And once again I was knocked away, letting her get ahed of me. I tired to pull myself together but then something interesting happened.

There was the loud sound of a ringing boom. The sound I make whenever I preform the Sonic Rainboom. But instead of an array of rainbows filling the air. There was a wave of pink light blasting around me that blew me back.

Shaking my head and staying in the air. I realized that the princess had preformed her own version of the Sonic Rainboom.

"This isn't real......... she cheated. Hey! Crystal butt! You cheated! Get back here!" I shouted while flying after her.

Cadance's Point Of View

My eyes shot open. I felt a sharp pain in all of my hooves. I quickly realized what happened. I was in a full body cast. I lay uncomfortable on my bed.

Suddenly there was a knock at the door, and my husband came in followed by Rainbow Dash.

"Well well well. Look who deiced to wake up. Cheater," Rainbow Dash insulted.

"Sweetie. Why did you break the law and go racing? " my husband asked, ignoring the insult just thrown at me.

I replied, "I needed to have some fun. It's so boring just sitting in my throne doing nothing but vetoing bills."

"Well don't have fun ever again," he said harshly. He then walked out of the room, sticking his tongue at me right before he was out of reach.

I turned to face Rainbow Dash. I smiled sheepishly. She crossed her arms.

"Umm I want to know how this happened," I asked curiously.

She sighed,"Duh. Your husband had a shield spell up. And guess who crashed into it."

"Oh ok. And, i'm sorry I tackled you. Twice."

"It's ok. We were playing by street rules. So I don't care," she explained with a shrug.

I smiled in relief

"There's something you need to know," Rainbow Dash interrupted. "I saw your husband buying some stuff at the store when he heard that you broke the rules on fun."

"What kind of stuff?"

"Whoopee cushions, feathers, pies, rubber chickens, and a cannon. I think he's going to prank you."

I gulped.
