Ch 1. New Transfer Student?

View Online

“I’m late! I’m late! I’m late! I’m late! I’m late!” exclaimed Henry Hirota as he rushed through the streets of his neighborhood and on his way to school.

This has become quite a habit of his, forgetting to set his alarm clock the night before only to wake up ten minutes before the first bell. He was fortunate enough that his school was only eight blocks from his home, if he can call that being fortunate.

He wore his usual attire to school, which was a long sleeve hooded shirt; in which the body had a horizontal stripe design which were gray and dark green, and the sleeves were pitch black. He also wore jeans and white sneakers that would constantly get dirty. Henry didn’t have time to fix his dark brown hair, so he had to bear the fact that he had to go the entire day with his hair looking like a mess.

Henry didn’t have time to worry about his appearance, he was in too much of a rush to give a single care. He had to stuff all of his homework into his small blue backpack and had to stop for a minute at each crosswalk just to let other dumb cars pass. Henry was just a Japanese American kid in his junior year in high school. He thought that his life was totally average, and he’s pretty much right.

He eventually made it to where he goes to school, which was named Cicada Grove High School. The entire school was huge with different rooms, a second and third floor, outside areas, quadrangles, even its own student store. To say the least, it felt more like a college campus than a high school one, to most students. Henry burst through the front doors and ran through the empty hallways. He stopped and looked around to see that the hallways were actually empty and not just his imagination, that wasn’t a good sign. He found his first period room and ran through the open door.

“I’m…..here….” he panted. He looked up and saw that everyone was seated and was staring at him with awkward looks on their faces. He turned to his teacher, Miss Diaz, who had a disapproving look on her face. All Henry could see right now was her usual white dress shirt along with her grey blazer and skirt dress. He looked up and finally noticing her long blonde hair and single eye brow raised.

“Mister Hirota, you’re late again,” she half-scolded at him.

“I….I’m sorry….miss,” he panted some more. “My alarm clock didn’t go off……and I didn’t have….enough time for breakfast….and I-“

“Save it,” she interrupted while raising a hand at him. “This is your third tardy this week. If you get one more before the week is up, I’m going to have to sign you up for detention.”

“What? You can’t be serious,” Henry said in disbelief.

“I’m sorry, but rules are rules. Now sit,” she instructed calmly.

Henry let out a huff and started to make his way to his seat. He reached his seat that was in the third to last row. He took his sat and rested his head on his desk covering his face with his arms.

“Wow, late again?” said a voice, which made Henry look up from his desk. “If you keep this up, you’ll end up becoming like a typical anime protagonist.”

Henry looked to his right and noticed one of his friends and classmates, Sierra Nagano. He noticed that she was the same as ever, with her long raven hair and small rectangular glasses. She also wore her usual strange attire which consisted of a white shirt with tiny black polka dots on it and sporting a black jacket. She also wore a teal skirt, magenta knee socks, and a small green ribbon in her hair. Henry also noticed the big smirk she was giving him.

“Lay off me will ya, Sierra. My alarm clock didn’t go off,” he replied.

“Well, you’re alarm clock can’t go off if you never set it up to begin with,” she explained.

“I did set it up,” Henry half-shouted so that no one would hear him.

“Did you? Did you really?” Sierra asked smirking. Henry was silent for a while until he came up with his answer.

“Ok, I might’ve forgotten,” he finally said.

“Uh-huh,” she chuckled.

“Hey, I admit it, I forgot again. Besides you try living in a house with a bunch of other kids,” he shot back.

“I’d rather not,” she replied.

“It’s really difficult sometimes. All of the noise can really make you forget things.”

“Like setting up your alarm clock?” she repeated.

“Ok, can we please move on?”

“No talking back there,” said Miss Diaz.

Henry just slumped back into his seat, waiting for this morning lecture to be over with.

“Can’t there be a little more excitement in life?”

……………………

Henry was backed up by a huge arm to a bunch of gray lockers while the jocks were tossing his back pack around and going through his stuff. Henry had an annoyed look on his face.

“Ok, when I said I wanted excitement in my life, this is NOT what I meant,” he said to himself.

Robert, the head jock, reached into Henry’s back pack and pulled out a sketch book. He flipped through the pages and noticed some hand sketched animals including dogs, cats, dolphins, birds, lions, and even horses. Robert stopped when reached a page with a pencil sketch of a horse’s head. He turned around and started to laugh at Henry.

“What is this?” he laughed as he showed the drawing to Henry. Which made the other jocks laugh.

“You like to draw pretty boy?” he mocked which made the other goons laugh some more. “This is pretty good,” he laughed as he slapped Henry with his own sketch book.

Robert then coughed up a loogie and spat it right on the drawing, Henry tried to break free and stop him but the other jocks were still holding him back. Robert then threw the sketchbook on the ground and began to stomp on it with his mud covered sneaker. The jocks laughed even harder. Henry felt a bundle of rage building inside of him as he finally broke free of the other jocks restraints.

“That was my sketchbook!” he yelled in his face. Henry felt a fist hurdled in his stomach. He gasped for air and bent over from the pain. He started to cough from the blow as he tried to stay up. The jock then brought up another fist, but before he could bring it down on Henry, something stopped him. Robert felt someone holding his fist back. He turned around and became shocked to see who was holding him back.

“Hiya friend!” yelled the figure. A huge fist then connected with Roberts face as he was knocked back and plummeted to the ground.

“A-Axel?!” exclaimed one of the jocks.

Axel Kawada was another one of Henry’s friends, as well as the toughest guy in the whole school. His orange hair was spiked up in the front and he wore his usual silver blue shirt and grey pants. He also wore quite amount of belts on his body, two on each bicep, two on each ankle, and a single belt around his waist. The other jocks just shuddered in fear at his presence. Axel was known for taking in violent street fights around his neighborhood.

“I see you’ve been picking on my friend here,” he started as he cracked his knuckles. “We can’t have that, now can we?”

The jocks were just shaking with fear, until one of them screamed and charged right for him. Before he could land a punch on Axel, he spun around and elbowed him the upper back, making him fall to the ground.
Another one attacked him, but he tripped the goon and punched him downwards hitting the ground harder. More of the jocks kept on running towards him, but they all ended up getting pummeled. After a few more punches, the jocks decided they had enough and made a run for it, Robert included.

Axel then picked up Henry’s beaten sketch book and handed it to him.

“You alright man?” he asked.

“Y-yeah,” Henry said as he took his sketchbook back. “This took me forever to complete.”

“Well, you gotta be careful man. If they see you with that book they’re going to think you’re a wuss,” Axel advised.

“What am I supposed to do? Change hobbies?” Henry asked.

“I don’t know," he shrugged. "All I do know is that the people at this school are messed up. It’s just full of brutes and weirdos.”

“Kind of like you?” Henry joked.

“Different!” Axel corrected, which resulted in them both laughing.

“Well, thanks for getting my sketchbook back. Or at least, what’s left of it,” he said as he took another look at his book.

“No prob, man,” Axel replied. The both of them started walking off to try to catch their next class. Well, for Henry to catch his next class, as they got to the buildings Axel walked away on his own path and right out of the school area.

“Still ditching school in the middle of the day huh?” he wondered as he saw Axel walk out of the front gates.

…………………………………….

The day was pretty much over and all of the students were walking out of the buildings and on their way home. Henry had to stay a little later to collect some things he forgotten last time. Once he made sure he had all of his stuff, he walked out of Miss Diaz’s classroom.

“Try not to be late again!” she called out as walked away. Henry waved back at his teacher and continued to roam through the hallways. He was walking outside on the concrete and along one of the quadrangles that had a small hedge surrounding it.

While he was thinking about the homework he was not looking forward to, he heard a loud moan coming from one of the bushes. He stopped and looked to his right at the bush. At first, he thought it was just his imagination. Before he could walk away, he caught a glimpse of something that surprised him, a pair of legs coming from behind the shrub.

Out of curiosity, he walked behind the bush to see if there was anyone on the other side. To his surprise, there was. Henry’s eyes jumped when he saw a teenage girl, around his age, lying on the ground behind the bush.

Henry took notice at this girl’s strange appearance. She had a pale complexion and long purple hair with a pink streak in it. She was also wearing a lavender blazer over a white shirt and wore a deep purple mini skirt. He also noticed that violet high boots she was wearing. Henry was confused and didn’t really know what to do.

“A-a girl?” he stuttered. “Why is she sleeping behind a shrub? Is she a transfer student?”

Henry decided it would be best to wake her up and ask her why she was sleeping on the ground. He looked to see if no one was around and lightly tapped her shoulder. Her body flinched at the touch and he immediately pulled back his arm. He shook her shoulder some more as she let out more moans.

“Hey, girl I’ve never seen,” he said as he shrugged her some more. “You awake yet?”

The girl’s eyes finally fluttered open and let out a big yawn. She then used her arms to sit up properly to fully wake up. As she did, Henry noticed something dangling from her neck. It appeared to be six-sided star medallion. Henry raised an eyebrow at the strange piece of jewelry as he had never seen anything like it before.

The girl then faced him with half open eyes and a confused look on her face.

“W-what happened? Where am I?” she said with a tired moan.

“Um, hey, are you feeling alright?” asked Henry. “I found you sleeping behind this shrub.”

“What? Why would-” she stopped mid-sentence and got a better look at Henry and her eyes widened. “Wait,” she said as she rubbed her eyes. As she did, she took a second look at her hands, as if she had seen them before.

“Hands?” she wondered.

“Yes, those are your hands,” Henry said sounding confused.

“Am I….back at Canterlot High?” she wondered.

“Canter-what?” asked Henry.

The girl got up and examined her whole body. She then turned to her left and saw her reflection in a nearby window.

“My clothes have changed?” she asked as she looked at herself. “And why do I look so pale?”

“I don’t know, I just got here,” said Henry honestly. The girl then turned towards Henry.

“What do you mean you just got here? Are you also from Equestria?” she asked.

“N-no. I’m from…..here.”

“Here? What is here? What high school is this?” she demanded.

“Cicada Grove High,” he answered. “And before you ask, yes, that is also the name of this town.”

“Cicada Grove?” she repeated.

She then began to scratch her head and paced around in a circle pondering. She even started to think aloud.

“So, this isn’t Canterlot High? Then this has got to be alternative version of the world my Canterlot High friends are from. But why am I suddenly here? First, I was just doing my studies. Then all of sudden, I’m in this strange new world. What am I going to do?”
Henry really didn’t know what to make of this student. He decided to take the logical step and asked her for her name.

“Excuse me, but do you think you could tell me your name?” he asked. The girl then turned around to face him.

“Oh, how rude of me,” she said as she extended her hand. “My name is Twilight Sparkle.”

“Twilight? That’s, an unusual name,” said Henry laughing in his mind.

“Is there something wrong with my name?” she asked as she raised an eyebrow.

“What? Oh, no I didn’t mean it like that!” exclaimed Henry as he waved his arms frantically. “It’s just, I’ve never actually met anyone with that kind of name before, that’s all! Hehehehe.”

“Oh, I see. Well, can you tell me your name?” she asked.

“My name? Oh right. I’m Henry,” he introduced as he shook her hand.

“Henry…....?” she asked wanting his last name too.

“Henry Hirota.”

“Well, it’s a pleasure to meet you mister Hirota,” she greeted.

“Just Henry is fine. Do you think you can answer a question or two?”

“Uh, sure what?”

“First off, why were you sleeping behind a shrub?” he asked.

“To be honest, I have no idea,” she answered as best as she could.

“Well, do you know why you’re here? Are you some kind of transfer student?”

“Again, I have no idea. I don’t really remember much after that portal opened.”

“Portal?” wondered Henry. “What portal, there’s no portal here.”

“The one right there,” she said as she pointed outward. All they saw were more shrubs, buildings, and students leaving. While Henry was confused, Twilight grew scared and began to panic.

“It’s not there anymore?” she said with a gasp. “This is bad. How am I going to get back home?!”

Henry just looked at this new girl with a mixture of confusion and concern. It seems as though his wish, to make his life a little more exciting, is about to come true.

Ch 2. Magic is Real?

View Online

Henry was still in one of the quads near the school entrance listening and observing this strange new girl’s commotion. He really didn’t know how to feel about this. He felt confused on one hand seeing this girl make a big deal about some portal, and on the other hand he felt worried that this girl may be at the wrong place at the wrong time. He decided to do the logical thing and ask her what she knows. Mostly to see if she’s sane.

“This isn’t good, not good at all! What am I supposed to do? I have no way to contact the princess or my friends, I don’t have any magic, and I don’t even have Spike with me. Sure, he followed me last time, but now I really need him. Who knows what kind of dangers this new world has,” stammered the new girl apparently named Twilight.

“Uh, new girl,” asked Henry.

“What!?” yelled Twilight as she spun around. Henry jumped back at her outburst, having second thoughts about asking her. He even had his hand in front of his face just in case she was about to unintentionally smack him. Twilight noticed that she scared him a little and blinked. She then slumped her shoulders and looked away with a guilty expression.

“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to snap like that,” she apologized. Henry slowly let his hand down and looked at her, feeling a little more relaxed.

“I-it’s fine. I just have a few more questions is all,” he explained waving his hand.

“Oh. Like what?” she asked.

“Like, what’s with all of this portal business?” he asked. “Are you lost or something. Maybe I can help you?”

Twilight put a finger to her lip and thought about this for a moment.

“Can I really trust him? I mean, I just met the guy and I know nothing about him,” she thought to herself. “Then again, I also know nothing about this other Canterlot High, or of this world for that matter. Would he really be of help to me?”

She then looked back at Henry, who was just standing there patiently waiting for a response.

“I know I’d be risking a lot if I told him about where I’m actually from, but what other choice do I have? I can’t just lie to a stranger, use him, and then throw him away when I’m done. What kind of princess would that make me? Right now I need all of the help and knowledge I can get. Looks like I’ll have to befriend him. Besides, it’s always nice to make new friends right?” she concluded in thought. She then turned and faced Henry with an answer.

“So, you really want to help me?” she asked him.

“Uh, sure I guess,” replied Henry sounding unsure. “You just seem so lost.”

“Ok. But,” she paused as she looked around. “Do you think we could speak somewhere in private?”

“Why? If you want to tell me something, you can tell me right here,” stated Henry. “Besides, there’s nobody really around. All of the students and teachers have left anyway.”

Twilight looked around again and did notice most of the students leaving. In fact, there wasn’t a single soul in the entire quad.

“I suppose were out of an earshot of anyone,” she said. “The truth is…..I’m not supposed to be here.”

“Huh?” asked the now confused Henry.

“The truth is, I’m not from here. Not from this city, this country, or this world for that matter. I’m actually from a whole different world. A magical world called Equestria. I’m supposed to be the new princess of that kingdom, but as I was doing my normal studies, this vortex appeared out of nowhere and took me from my library. And here I am now, explaining it to you,” she explained honestly. “So you see, that’s why I said I’m not supposed to be here.”

Twilight was waiting for a response, but as she looked up all she could see was Henry’s blank expression. His eyes weren’t moving and his lips totally motionless.

“What?” he finally asked.

“I said, I’m not from here. I’m from a world called Equestria,” she explained again in a more agitated tone.

“………….What?” he repeated.

“I’m…..not……from…..here,” she explained slowly hoping he would follow better.

It was silent for a while and Henry was still trying to decide whether to buy what this girl was saying or just walk away and pretend he didn’t hear what he just heard. He blinked a few times until he finally came up with a proper response.

“Have you been helped?” he asked.

“What? Are you calling me a liar?!” she retorted.

“Sorry, it’s just how do you expect me to believe that?!” he inquired. “I’m not saying you’re a liar, I’m just saying it’s a little too much to take in. Why would you say you’re a magical princess from another dimension?”

“Because it’s true!”

“How? Magic isn’t real.”

“Yes it is! It’s the reason we all exist!”

“Nnnoooo. Science and evolution is the reason we all exist. Magic is just used as a form of entertainment to amuse tourists and little kids.”

“No it’s not! There’s many different uses for magic, I’m telling you the truth!” Twilight continues to rage.

“Ok then, do you have any proof?” he asked as he crossed his arms.

“Proof? What do you mean proof?”

“I don’t know. Perform a spell, levitate an object, or turn a student into a toad. Something that will make me believe you.”

“It’s kind of hard to do any of that, if I don’t have any magic in me.”

“What? Well…”

Henry turned to his left and noticed something stick out of the bush where Twilight was sleeping behind. He saw what looked like a brown satchel bag sticking out.

“What about that?” he said as he pointed to the bag.

Twilight looked to where he was pointing, and her eyes began to widen. She ran past him and went to pick up the object in the shrub. She lifted it into the air and there appeared to be a buckle holding the flap closed on the bag. The buckle looked exactly like the medallion she was wearing around her neck. She opened the bag and reached in to find what was inside. She reached in and pulled out a large book with a horse’s head on the cover, it looked large enough to be a textbook.

Henry didn’t know what that meant, but it looked Twilight knew as he eyes grew wider and a grin formed on her face. She opened it up and began to flip through the pages.

“It’s one of my spell books!” she exclaimed with excitement. “Maybe I can use this to get back home!”

“Well it looks like her journey is short and over with,” Henry thought to himself. He then noticed her happy expression suddenly disappeared and replaced with a sad one.

“But can I get home with this? This may not be the right book,” she said in a saddened tone.

“Is that supposed to be a spell book?” wondered Henry.

“One of them. I’m must’ve grabbed my saddle bag as the portal opened and this book was in it.”

“Well, if that’s a spell book, then perform a spell from it.”

“I don’t know if I can,” she admitted.

“What do you mean? You just said you were magical and can perform spells.”

“Yes well,” she paused. “I’m not sure if there’s enough magic in me to perform any spells, seeing how I’m in a whole different world with a new appearance. Plus, I can’t really do much without my horn.”

“Her horn? What’s that supposed to mean?” he thought.

“Why don’t you try performing with your hands?” suggested Henry.

“My hands?” asked Twilight as she looked at said hands.

“Yeah, I mean, most magicians in fiction normally perform spells with their hands. Sometimes they use a staff or a wand. But I’m assuming you don’t have any of those at your disposal?”

“No, I don’t,” said Twilight as she continued to gaze at her hands. “I can give it a try.”

She turned her head and focused on some nearby garbage cans. The silver cans were completely filthy and the trash wasn’t even in the containers, they were just scattered around it. Twilight opened her book and flipped through the pages. She stopped at one of the pages and began to scroll down it with her finger.

“Ah, levitation,” she said as she looked up again.

She extended her right arm and aimed her hand at the cans. Her brow furrowed and sweat begin to drip from her face. She closed her eyes and really concentrated.

Henry noticed something was happening to her hand, her palm was glowing a light pink. His eyes began to widen as the light began to grow brighter. He then heard some rattling medal and turned to the trash cans. The litter around it and the trash lids were also covered in the bright light, like some kind of aura. The trash suddenly began to float off the ground and the lids popped right off of the trash cans. The trash then dropped themselves into the cans as the lids were simply put back on the silver containers. The area was soon clean and the cans were no longer glowing. Twilight put her arm down and looked at Henry with a smirk on her face.

Henry just stood there dumbfounded at this girl’s magical levitation ability. Twilight just stared into her hands with amazement.

“So, do you believe me now?” she asked.

Henry just stood there with a blank stare. He just witnessed levitation magic, he saw it but did not want to believe it.

“Ok, am I tripping on something or did that actually just happened?” he thought in question. Henry then looked at Twilight.

“I-I….I’m still not convinced,” said Henry as he refused to believe what he just saw.

Twilight grew an annoyed look on her face as her hands began to glow again. Out of nowhere, an apple core came flying and smacked Henry right in his forehead, leaving a big red mark.

“OW! Ok, I believe you! Geez,” he complained as he rubbed his forehead.

Twilight chuckled to herself as she grew a satisfied smile. Her grin then disappeared as she continued to stare at her hand.

“It seems I do have a little magic in me left. But I don’t know how much, I should probably save some of it if I want to figure out how to activate the vortex,” she said as she clenched her fist.

“Ok……Well, good luck with that,” Henry said as he walked away. Twilight noticed him departing and grew more annoyed.

“Wha...hey! You’re just going to leave me here like this?! I thought you said you wanted to help me?!” she yelled in annoyance.

“That was before you told me you’re a magical alien from another dimension!” he retorted. “I don’t know how to deal with a situation like that!”

“First off, I’m not an alien I’m an alicorn princess! Well, technically I AM considered an alien since I’m not from this world and- Wait! Getting off topic here!” she continued to rant. “And second, you can’t just go back on your word!”

“I never promised anything! This is still a lot to take in for me.”

“Well what do you want me to do about it?!”

“Maybe you can start by telling me the full truth,” he explained as he walked back to her. “If I’m going to help you, I need to know exactly what you are and maybe a little more details about this world or this portal you’re talking about. I don’t know how I’ll be able to help you, seeing how you’re the first out-of-world person I know, but I’ll try my best. Do we have a deal?”

Twilight thought about this for a moment. She didn’t really have any other option, she won’t be able to figure out this mystery on her own and it looks like she’ll have to trust this boy if she ever wants to get back home.

“Deal,” said Twilight as she nodded in agreement. She then gathered her book and stored it in her saddlebag.

“Alright. I’m assuming you don’t have a place to stay?”

“What do you think?” she replied raising an eyebrow at him.

“Right, sorry. C’mon, you can crash at my place,” he said as he began to walk away.

“Are you sure that will be alright?” Twilight asked as she followed her soon to be friend.

“Where else are you going to stay? It’s not like you would want to stay here and make a bed out of old books or anything.”

“I’ve actually done that before,” she admitted quietly.

“Huh?”

“Nothing. Let’s just go,” she said.

“Ok.”

With that, the human boy and the princess walked through the exit, across the street, and on the sidewalk on the way to Henry’s home. He was just hoping he could get a proper explanation by the time they get there.

Ch 3. Explanation and Temporary Home?

View Online

Henry and Twilight were walking on the sidewalk on the way to Henry’s place. As they were walking, Henry had so many questions on his mind about Twilight’s world. What the hometown was called, what her species was, how different is her world compared to his? He decided to get a full explanation out of her.

“Hey, Twilight.”

“Yeah?”

“Do you think you could tell me exactly how you got here? And I mean the full story?” he asked calmly and curiously. Twilight let out a sigh and decided to tell him the whole thing.

“Where do I begin?” she wondered to herself.

“Is it that long of a story?”

“Sort of.”

“Well, do you think you could explain what you are exactly?” asked Henry.

“What I am?” she replied sounding confused.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s kind of obvious you’re not a normal human being,” pointed out Henry.

“Would you believe me if I told you I wasn’t a human to begin with?”

“Sure, if it avoids having another apple launched at my head,” he answered. Twilight let out a giggle after he rubbed his forehead for emphasis.

“So what are?”

“Back in Equestria, I used to be a regular unicorn who would spend her days in Canterlot reading books in the library. But then my mentor, Princess Celestia, sent me to this small town called Ponyville to make some friends. Naturally I didn’t really see the point in that since I was actually trying to help with the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration and-“

“So you’re really a unicorn?” interrupted Henry wanting to speed the story up a bit.

“What, no? I USED to be a unicorn.”

“Well then what are?”

“Ok, I can see that you’re not into long stories,” she said in an annoyed tone.

“Sorry, I tend to doze off during school lectures,” he admitted. “I’m really trying to pay attention here.”

“Ok then,” she said still annoyed with his impatience. “If you’re wondering what I really am, I’m an alicorn princess.”

“Ali-what?”

“Alicorn, it’s when a pony has both wings and a horn,” she explained. “I actually just got my wings a few weeks ago and I’m still trying to get used to them.”

“So you can perform magic and fly?” he asked intriguingly.

“Sort of. Well, as of now I can only use magic. Although, I don’t know why. I understand that back at Canterlot High both my wings and my horn have disappeared along with my magic. It wasn’t until my friends and I had a certain ‘encounter’ and discovered our own magic. But why am I suddenly able to use some of it here?”

“I don’t know. I’m not from this other human world you went to. Or this magical land full of horses.”

“Ponies.” She corrected.

“What?”

“We’re not horses, ponies.”

“Sorry, it’s just that….well….I don’t know, horses just sounds more intimidating,” he stated.

“My apologies if our name doesn’t strike fear into your hearts, but we’re a peaceful land who try to bring harmony and compromise! What did you think Equestria was, a land filled with monsters, war, and necromancy?!”

“OK ok geez! I was just giving you my personal opinion, you didn’t have to take it so seriously,” he panicked.

Twilight let out a small sigh and calmed herself, “I’m sorry, I don’t know where that came from.”

“It’s fine. So, if I got this right, you’re a magical creature called an Alicorn from this other land and you were recently crowned a princess?” he recapped.

“Exactly,” she gladly replied.

“Cool, so now do you think you could explain how you got here?” he repeated.

“I’ll try to remember as much as I can. Just don’t doze off on this one.”

………………………………………………………………..

Spike, a purple and green baby dragon, was finishing up sorting out different packages and books for Twilight in her home/library. As he soon finished, he wiped the sweat off his brow and immediately hit his small basket bed. Just right when he closed his eyes, there was a knock at the door. His eyes shot open and groaned. Just when he can lie down he’s already getting back up. He slithered out of his bed and made his way to the staircase.

However, when he looked down, it seems that Twilight already beat him to it. There, he saw his lavender alicorn friend at the door accepting another package. Spike let out another groan knowing he’ll have to put away some more supplies. The door closed as Twilight brought the new package to her work desk. She had a big smile on her face as she began to open the box, Spike wasn’t really surprised to see it was filled with more books.

“Really Twi, more books?” he complained. “In case you haven’t noticed, but we live in a library.”

“I know that, Spike. But becoming the new soon-to-be princess of Equestria, I have a lot of research to do and I need to learn how to be good leader like Celestia and Luna. Plus, I’ll need to gain all the comprehension of everything around me if I’m going to rule a kingdom properly,” she explained with enthusiasm.

“Oh brother,” Spike sighed as he walked over to the new books. “What kind of books did you order this time?”

Twilight used her magic to levitate three books out of the box, Spike was still a little baffled at what they were all titled. One book read, The Multiverse Theory while another read, Beyond Equestria and the last one read Are we really alone out here?

“What’s with all these books?” wondered Spike.

“Well, I started thinking to myself, if I’m going to become the next great ruler, I need to know if there is another universe out just in case of any surprise invasions,” she explained. “That, and I’m just curious to know if we’re really alone out here.”

“Twi, since when has there been a sudden invasion that could put all of Equestria in jepordy?” inquired Spike.

“Really?” Twilight asked sarcastically cocking an eyebrow.

Spikes eyes widened as he remembered the Canterlot Wedding incident and his face grew red of embarrassment at forgetting an event.

“Oh, right,” he said sheepishly rubbing the back of his head.

“Yeah.”

"So, you need me to put these books away too?"

"No, I'm going to be using them for a while. I'm really eager to see what these books have to offer. You can take a break now if you want."

“Great. Then, I’ll just let you get…to it,” he finished as he exited the room and went back upstairs to take a nap.

Twilight took her new supplies to her work table and immediately cracked open one of them. She began to read it aloud.

“The Multiverse, a theory in which there are multiple universes co-existing within our own. How interesting!” she chirped as she kept reading. “There is only so much evidence claiming this theory to be true and exact. However, most individuals believe in this phenomenon and have been going through countless experiments in which to prove the existence of these many alternative universes. In rare cases, they even discover a magical vortex that can rip a hole in the very fabric of reality. These portals are known as ‘Wormholes’, they can be very powerful, happen at the most unsystematic of times, and difficult to restrain. There is still very little that we know about these theories…..”

As Twilight was reading her book, she didn’t notice that there were a few sparks happening right behind her. She began to hear a few strange crackling and sizzling noises as well. She turned her head and was shocked to see what she was witnessing. Sparks were flying and the crackling noise got louder, she even felt a strange wind pattern happening in her home, like a cyclone. It was so out of control that even her books were flying off the shelves from the event.

“What is going on?”

Out of nowhere, the very space in front of her began to tear. She saw the open air unwind itself like some kind of zipper. The rip got bigger and bigger creating more wind currents, creating a bigger indoor cyclone. Finally, a huge violet vortex ripped open and began to suck everything in. Twilight noticed her saddlebags were caught in the vortex and flew right off her desk and into the abyss.

“No!” she screamed as she tried to reach for her bag, but it was too late. Twilight held on for dear life as the portal kept trying to pull her in. “Somepony help me!”

She tried to hold on for dear life, but the vacuum was too strong. She felt her hooves slipping and pretty soon, she lost her grip and was sucked in. As she was being inhaled by the mysterious wormhole, she let out a final shriek for help.

…………………………………………………………………………

“And then I woke up at your school. That’s all I remember,” she finished.

“Geez, that sounds heavy,” commented Henry, feeling sorry for Twilight.

“I don’t even know what happened. I know the book said that wormholes can happen at any given moment, but I didn’t think they would happen so unpredictably.”

“I’m sure there’s some kind of scientific reason to it,” Henry suggested.

“Or a magical reason.”

“Eh?” Henry asked as he cocked his head.

“Remember that there’s not a lot of science where I come from. The wormhole that appeared could be magic based. But I have no idea; that’s why I need to figure out how it happened and how I can re-open it.”

“Gotcha.”

“There, so now will you help me? I told you the whole story” she inquired.

“Well, a deal is a deal,” he replied which resulted a huge smile on Twilights face. She let out a gasp of delight and wrapped her arms around the school boy, hugging him.

“Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!” she chirped many times.

“Twi…..you’re killing me,” Henry wheezed as he was struggling breathing through Twilight’s hug.

“OH, sorry!” she said as she let go. Henry gasped for air and began breathing normally again.

“Do all ponies in your world give death hugs?” he wondered.

“More or less,” she said sheepishly.

“Anyway, after what you told me, it’s not like I can just leave you and let you handle this problem by yourself.”

“You mean like how you did a few moments ago?” reminded Twilight.

“That was different, I didn’t know your situation,” he stammered. “B-but now that I do know, I guess I have to help you out or else you’ll get unwanted attention.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Nothing, nevermind.”

Henry then walked into a stone pathway and stopped in front of a big tan house. The roof looked old while the porch seemed fancy, with its chair swing, decorative pillars, small stairs, and glass tables. There were three windows in the front that looked like square eyes. Finally, there was the number 11037 next to the door.

“Well, here we are. Home sweet home,” announced Henry as he opened the door.

“You sure have a nice house,” Twilight commented.

Henry opened the door and they both walked in, however when they did, they were met by a mob of screaming and laughing kids. They were running around all over the place with toy guns and plastic swords. Some of them boys, some of them girls. They looked really young, around age’s four to eight, and they were just acting wild. Twilight didn’t expect to see running kids behind the door and stepped back from the surprise.

“Oh my,” she said with a gasp.

“Yeah, you’ll get used to that,” responded Henry.

He was then met with a charging force, knocking him off balance and dropping all of his stuff on the floor.

“Henry?” Twilight said in concern.

She then noticed a small girl latching onto Henry’s body like a leech. She looked a lot younger than Henry but still older than any of the toddlers running around. She looked to be around fourteen, was barefoot, wore an orange dress, and had chestnut hair put in two twin-tails. The girl was snuggling into Henry’s chest.

“Hey there, bro! Did you miss me?” she chirped.

“Mimi, hey how was your day?” Henry muttered.

She then took her face out of his chest and looked at Twilight. Her happy smile disappeared and was replaced with a confused gesture.

“Who’s this? Is she your girlfriend?” she teased.

Both Twilight and Henry broke out into a bright red blush at the comment. Twilight looked away as Henry tried to think up of an answer.

“Mimi! No, sh-she’s just a friend. We just met, she’s a n-new student at my school,” Henry stammered.

“Sure, for now,” she giggled.

“Anyway,” spoke Twilight. “Who’s this adorable little girl?”

“This is my,” he paused. “Sister, Mimi. Mimi, this is my new friend, Twilight.”

“Nice to meet you,” greeted Twilight as she reached out her hand.

Instead of shaking it, Mimi just hopped off of Henry and wrapped her arms around Twilight, nearly suffocating her.

“Nice to meet you too!” she squealed.

“Now you know how it feels,” Henry chuckled which made Twilight grumble. “Twilight is new in town and doesn’t have a place to stay. So she’ll be staying with us for a while.”

“Alright, a new big sister!”

“Are you sure it’s Ok with your parents that I stay here?” Twilight wondered. Both Henry and Mimi’s eyes widened at the question. Henry was sort of hoping that she wouldn’t ask that query and forget about it.

“Oh well…you see-“

“I’m sure Marge will be fine with you staying here,” covered Mimi. “It’s like she always says, the more the merrier. Hehehe.”

“Marge?”

“Our mom,” Mimi answered.

“Oh, are you sure it’s ok? Where is she?”

“She’s not here right now, she’s out of town on a business trip. Henry and I are the ones in charge when that happens,” Mimi answered again. “Pretty cool right?”

“I suppose.”

“Mimi, why don’t you watch the kids while I show Twilight to the room,” suggested Henry.

“Got it, bro!” she smiled. She then let go of Twilight and ran off to the living room to play with the younger kids. Henry was leading Twilight up stairs to show her temporary sleeping quarters. As they were walking up the stairs, Twilight couldn’t help but be curious as to why Henry and Mimi acted so nervous when she asked about their parent. Nevertheless, she was still happy that she made a new friend who's willing to help her out……………

Ch 4. Late to Class and More New Faces?

View Online

Henry opened the door to their room.

As they entered, Twilight was less than impressed with what she saw: a small room with a square window on the wall and two separate beds on opposite sides. The bed on the left was messy and covered with colored pencils, crumpled up paper, and manga scattered across the pillow, while the one on the right was neat and tidy, appearing to have never been touched by mortal hands. In the middle was a small dresser with three drawers. A tall lamp and laptop rested upon it.

Twilight became increasingly concerned with the capacity of the room she’d be sleeping in, the spinning walls, tasteless paint job, a mare couldn't even find a decent nook to cram her traveling Encyclopedias! Or even how she was going to study with Henry there. Overall, Twilight was starting to have second thoughts on her living arrangements.

“This is my room,” Henry stated, “I know it’s not much, but you know, what’s mine is yours as they say.”

“Thanks.” she snarked, her hesitance riddled with crippling sarcasm.

“You can take the bed on the right, it used to belong to my old roommate, but he moved out.”

“Okay, thanks.” Twilight said again as she set her bag down and sat on the edge of the bed. She couldn’t help but notice the crumbled up paper littering the floor. As Henry was setting his stuff down, Twilight picked up one of the papers and unfolded it, raising an eyebrow. She tilted her head to see a pencil sketch of a ninja holding a crude rocket launcher. She couldn’t help but giggle. “D-did you draw this?” she asked, still giggling.

Henry panicked and snatched the paper away before she could do anything else. “Oh, that? T-That’s nothing, you don’t want to look at that. He-he-he-he...” he stammered, re-crumpling the modern masterpiece.

Pushing the thought aside, Twilight's mind wandered elsewhere, specifically on why Henry and Mimi were acting so weird when she asked about his parents. She rubbed her finger on her chin at the thought.

“So,” Henry started, “How do you like the place so far?”

“It’s... definitely different from what I’m used to.” Twilight replied.

“Well sorry if I don’t have a royal suite for you, but this isn’t exactly a big fancy castle.”

“That’s not what I meant. I meant that this room is just much more different from my own. It's a little hard adjusting.” She explained.

“I see.”

“I also didn’t expect to see so many kids here...”

“Well, they don’t call this a foster home for nothing.”

“Wait, what?” Twilight asked, surprised.

“Yeah, this is a foster home, Twilight. You didn’t know? What? Did you think I lived with a bunch of little brothers and sisters?” Henry jested.

“So, all of those little kids that were running around?”

“Yeah, they don’t have parents.”

“E-Even you and your sister?”

“Mimi? She’s not my actual sister. I’m an only child.”

“But, why did she refer to you as ‘Bro'?”

“She likes to call all of the kids here ‘Bro’ and ‘Sis’. It’s her thing. Just because her mom owns this place.”

“Her mom?”

“Yeah, that Marge person she mentioned, that’s her actual mother. She owns this house and looks after all of us. That’s what all foster parents do right?”

“I… I suppose,” Twilight answered sheepishly. “So, does that mean you’re an orphan then?”

“Me? I guess you could call me that. Most people at school do.” Twilight gasped. “I,” he paused and stared out the window. “Some things happened and…”

That was all Henry could muster, before his eyes started to swell and was on the verge of full-blown tears. Remembering clearly what had happened to his folks many years ago, the very thought was enough to make him go dead quiet in any casual conversation. Twilight couldn’t help but feel bad for him. Only an hour after meeting Henry and she could sense he wasn’t well. Twilight couldn’t help it, her eyes were beginning to water as well, and she broke her gaze.

“I’m…I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to call you a... you know.” she offered somberly. Henry snapped out of his trance and his attention returned to Twilight.

“It’s fine, don’t worry about it. You didn’t know.”

“How can I not worry about it? It’s hard to imagine what it feels like to lose the ones you love. I can’t even picture my life without my parents or my brother, or the princesses; or even my best friends.” As she went on, Henry felt all of the emotions inside of him build up. The thought of someone else talking about how their life was more fortunate or how they couldn't imagine what they would do without their loved ones, it really hurt. It would always take him back to the days of his parent’s deaths and hearing those same words over and over again.

“Alright!” Henry snapped, making Twilight jump. “I’m unfortunate and you don’t know how to relate to that, I get it! I hear it from every person I know, so just stop it!”

Twilight fell silent for a moment, she didn’t know whether to feel scared or ashamed. She just looked away, dimming her eyes. Nonetheless, Henry noticed what he had done. He miserably slumped his shoulders and let out a loud sigh. “I’m sorry. It’s just... I hear people say, ‘I’m sorry for your loss, I can’t imagine that’, and it just reminds me that at the end of the day I won't ever see them again...and-and the world just keeps on going." He swallowed the lump in his throat. "I mean, most kids in this house don’t have theirs either, but they just don’t understand it yet. Not yet.”

“I-I’m sorry.” For once in her life Twilight was dumbfounded. She couldn’t fathom what it would be like, lest be constantly reminded.

Twilight got up and walked over to Henry’s side, wrapping her arms around him and gave it a tight squeeze. Henry looked down, confused. “If you don’t want to talk about it, I'll understand.”

“Thank you.” He replied. “And I’m sorry for snapping like that. I won’t do it again… hopefully.”

Twilight couldn’t help but giggle at Henry’s last statement, once again restoring the genial air. She felt better knowing that her new friend and host had forgiven her. Additionally, it was Henry who soon noticed that Twilight was still holding him.

“Uh, Twilight...” he murmured.

Twilight discovered she was still attached to him and grew bright red. She swiftly let go and backed off waving her arms away. “Oh, I-I didn’t m-mean to...you know,” she stuttered.

Henry laughed as he prepared to start on his homework. As he did it, he supplied Twilight with a manga to read so as not to bore her. Twilight couldn’t help but notice the work he was doing, though, consisting of a bunch of numbers and letters. It looked like Algebra, but didn't resemble the math books she skimmed every once in a while.

Night came and Mimi decided to make everyone dinner, luckily they were having spaghetti.

“Wait. If you’re the oldest, shouldn’t you be the one fixing everyone dinner?” Twilight asked as she sat next to Henry.

“Oh trust me, you don’t want THIS guy cooking your meals,” teased Mimi, leaning in between them.

“Why’s that?” wondered Twilight.

“I think we should save that chapter for another time.” Henry responded as he didn’t want Mimi to embarrass him in front of his house guest. “You DO eat spaghetti in your…uh… home, right?”

“Of course I do,” she replied as she slurped down her noodles, getting red pasta sauce all over her mouth. Henry couldn’t help but chuckle at her poor table manners. “What?” Twilight muttered with food hanging out of her mouth.

“If you keep that up, you’ll have to eat at the kiddie table.” He then pointed his fork to a smaller and colorful plastic table where all the younger kids were eating, whom looked even messier then she. And were now, surprisingly, throwing garlic bread at each other.

Twilight looked back and was not amused. “I’d rather not,” she said flatly, socking Henry in the arm.

Dinner soon ended and Twilight decided to help Mimi with the dishes as Henry put some of the younger kids to bed. After, Twilight followed Henry back up to his room.

“We should probably get ready for bed,” He suggested.

“Yeah. Do you have any spare pajamas by any chance?”

“Spares? For girls? Uh. Well, the only spare we have belongs to Mimi, and I think they might be too small for you.”

“Yeah, she is a small girl.” She added with a chuckle.

“Indeed.” He paused for a moment. “You could just sleep in your clothes.”

“Sleep in my clothes?” Twilight repeated. “I don’t know, that’s not usually something I do back at home.”

“What do you normally sleep in?” He just had to ask.

“What do you mean? Normally I don’t sleep with anything on,” She replied nonchalantly.

Henry double blinked to make sure he'd heard her correctly; had she really just openly acknowledged that she slept in the nude right in front of him? The way she responded so calmly about it was weird.

“But seeing how I came here, already wearing an outfit, I can tell it’s necessary to wear clothes in this world as well. It was like that too back at Canterlot High,”

“Uh, I’m pretty sure it’s necessary in ALL worlds to wear clothes.” Henry responded.

“Not in Equestria. Wearing clothes in our world is actually optional, if not a little drastic. Most of the rich ponies in Canterlot wear clothes, but the majority of us don’t. It just feels, better that way.”

“An almost nudist world? No thank you.” He said, waving his hand. “But then again, all of the citizens in your world are probably ponies, right?”

“Most of us are.”

He thought about it for a second and moved on. “Look, tomorrow or the day after, we’ll go out and buy some pajamas for you. But for tonight, just sleep in your clothes. Alright?”

“Alright fine,” She groaned.

With that, Twilight pulled back the spread of her bed and tucked herself in. She pulled the covers over herself and rested her head on the pillow. Henry would soon do the same after carefully packing all of his school belongings. Once finished, he got into bed and reached for the lamp.

“Goodnight, Twilight.”

“Goodnight, Henry.”

Henry tugged on the beaded string to his lamp and the whole room was dark. He rested his head on his pillow and tried to fall asleep.
Nothing. Not even a wink.

“Hey, Henry?” Twilight called out.

A budding smile went unnoticed as Henry rustled between the overlapping sheets, accentuating his wakefulness.

“Yeah?” He replied.

“Thanks for letting me stay here with you. I just need some time to figure out a spell to open the wormhole again.”

“No problem. But, you’ve said ‘thank you’ to me over a hundred times already.”

“Well, now I’ll say it a hundred and one. Thank you,”

They broke into light laughter.

“Alright, get some sleep now, good night.”

“Night.”

Twilight tossed and turned in her bed as Henry just lay there motionless. As he drifted off, he couldn’t shake the feeling that he was forgetting something. Something important.

…………………………………………………………………………………

“What do you mean she just disappeared!?” exclaimed Rainbow Dash.

“I don’t know! I closed my eyes for five minutes and when I open them she was gone!” Spike frantically explained, standing in front of all of Twilight’s friends. They were all in her library with anxious expressions. “When I woke up, I noticed that her work study was a complete mess and she was gone. So I called you guys over here to help figure out what’s going on.”

“Well, we sure as hay don’t know what’s going on here!” panicked Applejack.

“H-How could Twilight j-j-just disappear like that?" stammered the frightened Fluttershy. "It doesn’t make any s-s-sense.”

“Who did this? Who abducted Twilight?!” yelled Rainbow.

“I keep telling you guys, I don’t know!” Spike retorted. “I’m just as scared as you are.”

“This is just awful. It’s like getting invited to a birthday party and expecting a great big cake. Only to find out your cake has been cake-napped.” cried Pinkie Pie.

“Now is not the time, Pinkie!” scolded Applejack.

“This is truly devastating,” uttered Rarity. “Can you take us to where she disappeared?”

Spike gave a simple nod and led them to Twilight’s work desk. All the five mares could do was gasp in its sight. It looked as if a tornado had blown through the room, the desk was nearly destroyed with paper scattered everywhere. Book covers with heavy dents and bruises and pools of ink on the floor. Their mouths were wide open, their eyes unwavering from the devastation.

“Oh my stars...” Applejack gasped.

“When I woke from my nap, I heard a loud noise and came down here to check on Twilight. But when I got here, it was like THIS.” explained Spike.

“H-How did this happen?” asked Rarity.

Spike shrugged his shoulders and shuffled through the clutter to find something, anything. He then felt something brush agaisnt the tip of his claw, he swiped all of the papers aside and made a discovery. It was one of the new books that Twilight ordered, the one labeled 'The Multi-verse Theory'.

“What’s that?” asked Fluttershy.

“It’s one of the books Twilight ordered.” He turned to face the others with a nervous expression on his face. He had an idea of what could’ve happened, but he didn’t want it to be true. “You girls don’t think...” he paused for a moment. Their faces perked up, as if they had the same idea Spike was going with.

“N-no... that can’t be right...” Rainbow Dash started.

“But, can it be?” wondered Rarity.

“With the amount of magical items constantly found in Equestria, I wouldn’t be surprised,” added Applejack, still looking nervous.

“But, this book couldn’t possibly do anything right? I mean, it looks like an ordinary science book,” pointed out Spike.

“Oh my, what do we do?” muttered Fluttershy.

“There’s something not right about this here situation, and I’m getting a funny feeling from that there book. Ah say, we do what Twilight would’ve done and request a meeting with the Princess. Who’s with me?” Applejack rallied.

Everyone in the room yelled a great and enthusiastic “Yeah!”.

“Spike, take a letter,” Pinkie ordered, while everyone just stared at her with puzzled faces. “What? It’s what Twilight would’ve said.”

“Oh, I do hope Twilight is ok,” muttered Rarity. “Who knows what kind of trouble she could be in now.”

……………………………………………………………………………………………………………

The morning light shone through the glass window and a beam hit Henry directly in his face. His eyelids twitched and he twisted and turned on his pillow. Henry slowly forced his eyes open as he tried to look away from the morning sun blinding him. He saw something red shining in his eyes. He rubbed his eyes to clear his vision and to get a better look. He caught a glimpse of his alarm clock, which read 7:44 am.

His eyes widened with fear and shock as he sprinted out of bed, yelling, “Oh crap!” over and over again. Twilight heard the loud voice and jumped out of bed.

“H-huh, w-what?” she stammered. She then noticed Henry was rushing though, well, everything. Running around his room while doing various tasks; mobile as he put on a new striped shirt on. Henry ate a banana, brushed his teeth, sprayed on deodorant, and grabbed his bag.

“Henry, what’s going?” asked the confused Twilight.

“Not now, Twilight, I’m late for class...again!” exclaimed Henry as he was still rushing through everything.

“What? What do you mean again?”

“Not now, I’ll tell you later. Just stay here, hidden. Read a few books, and maybe put on a skirt while you're at it. Okay, bye!” he finished as he ran down the stairs and out the door. Twilight was a little confused at that last comment. She looked down and let out a loud yelp. She noticed that her skirt, she was sleeping in, had somehow slipped off during the night. She pulled down her shirt to cover her nearly naked body (saved only by her shirt and underwear.) She searched her bed covers to find her missing skirt.

Meanwhile, Henry raced through the streets trying to get to his school where the sidewalk ended. So far he was only able to run two blocks and both of them had too many cars passing by for him to cross. He only had eleven minutes left and doubted whether or not he could make in time.

“I’m late! I’m late! I’m late! How does this keep happening to me?!” he exclaimed.

As he was running, he saw a bright purple flash appear in front of him. It was bright, sparkly, and in the way.

“Henry, wait!” yelled Twilight, as she appeared right in front of him.

Henry didn’t react quickly enough and slammed right into his new friend, knocking her to the ground. They both hit the sidewalk hard with a loud ‘thud’. Henry noticed he was laying right on top of her and quickly scurried off.

“Um, ow.” She whined, rubbing her head.

“Sorry.” Henry said as he helped Twilight up, who was thankfully wearing full clothing.

“What did you mean by late again?” asked Twilight.

“I have to get to school or else I’ll be late for the hundredth time, and I’ll end up with Saturday detention.” he explained. “Ok, this isn’t actually the hundredth time I’ve been late, but you get the idea.”

“Yeah, I get it.”

“Wait, how are you even here? I saw you in my room just a minute ago.”

“Teleportation spell. I’m still a little surprised that some of my magic actually works here.” She admitted.

“Me too.” Henry agreed, blinking rapidly when an idea struck. “Hey, wait! Do you think you can teleport me to my school?”

“That should be easy, where is it located?”

Henry pointed vaguely into the distance, spotting a tiny square dot sitting on the gray background. “All the way down there, you see? That’s where I need to go, but the crosswalks are acting crazy this morning. I still have several streets and blocks to cross.”

“Just that building over there?” Twilight asked, looking at Henry for confirmation. He nodded. “Sure.”

She then placed her hand on Henry’s right shoulder. She then closed her eyes and both of her hands started to glow a rosy pink color from before. Henry then found himself and Twilight engulfed in a sparkling aura. In a flash, they were both gone and reappeared in front of the school building. Henry's mouth was left wide open, he couldn't believe. Simply couldn't believe it. He checked to see what the time was on his phone, and he was still surprised to see it read 7:49 am.

“H-h-holy crap.” he managed with a gasp. “T-That was amazing!”

“Aw, thanks,” Twilight replied. “It was nothing.”

Henry chuckled to himself. “No seriously, talk about getting to places in a flash,”

“Really?” Twilight groaned at his poor pun.

“Sorry.”

“Well, I’m glad I could be of some help.”

“Yeah, thanks a lot. I owe you one.”

“That won’t be necessary. You’ve already repaid me by letting me stay with you.” she said matter-of-factly.

“True. Well, I should probably get going then. You remember our address, right?” he asked, seeing if she remembered.

“Yeah.”

That was good enough for him. “Ok good. Just teleport back and stay there until I return, okay?”

“Sure.”

“Cool, bye!” he said as he waved goodbye and hurried off to class.

Twilight made sure that the coast was clear and teleported out of the area. She made it back to his room and began to search her bag for some of her spell books. She took some out and started flipping through the pages, hoping to find one with a return spell. “Now, what’s the right counter spell for this?”

Meanwhile, Henry was running through the hallways and eventually made it to his class. He rushed through the door just in time. He made it in the class room, panting, and noticed he was ten minutes early; seeing how there wasn’t as many students in the classroom. He looked up at his teacher, Miss Diaz, who had an impressed look on her face.

“Huh, you’re actually on time today, Mr. Hirota,” she pointed out. “I’m impressed. I guess this means no detention after all.”

“Guess not,” Henry agreed.

“Oh well, go take your seat,” she ordered.

Henry walked past her and took his normal seat next to Sierra, who also had an impressed look on her face. “Wow, you’re actually ten minutes early to class. That’s a first,” Sierra complimented.

“Yeah.”

“Did you remember to set your alarm clock this time?”

I guess I know what I was forgetting last night, he thought to himself.

“No I forgot again,” he admitted.

“Haha. Then how did you get here so early then, did you teleport here or something?”

You could say that...

“No….I…uh…just ran really fast this time.”

“Over eight blocks during morning rush hour? No way. Did you like jump over all of the moving cars?” she asked.

“Yes,” he answered sarcastically, “I managed leap on all of the moving roofs of the cars and jumped across them like a bridge. Because I am just that good.”

“Ha! I knew you were a ninja!”

“Huh?”

“I knew you were a fast runner, but... I didn’t think you’d be that fast. Plus, you always seemed to have that crazy look in your eyes,” she teased.

“You sure you weren’t just looking at your reflection?”

“Shut up. I’m a different kind of crazy.”

“There’s more than one kind?” Henry asked.

“Quiet now, class will be starting soon,” announced Miss Diaz. Both Henry and Sierra piped down and paid attention to the upcoming lecture.

……………………………………………………………………………………

Four and half hours later, Twilight had just finished looking through her thickest spell book. Granted it was full of useful spells, but none of which could reopen a portal.

She searched through her bag to find more books inside, Twilight groaned. “That counter spell could be anywhere,” she complained. Twilight paced back and forth in the small bedroom, pondering on how she’d find the correct spell. Subsequently, she wondered if there was even a counter spell to begin with.

Wait, could there even be a counter spell? For all I know I could be stuck here for another thirty moons. Maybe a whole year! Twilight mused. Calm down Twilight, you don’t know that. There’s always a solution out of things like this. But what if there isn’t? What will I do then? Oh, the princesses must have noticed my disappearance by now. My friends all must be worried about me.

*Growl*

Her thoughts were interrupted when her stomach let out a monstrous growl. She hadn’t really eaten anything for breakfast and she’d been in Henry’s room all day looking for the counter spell. She then started to wonder what she would do for food. She then looked out the window as another idea struck her mind.

I wonder how Henry’s doing right now, she wondered. I know that this world is inhabited by humans too, but just how different are these ones compared to the humans back at Canterlot High? Are they any different? Similar? Do these ones also socialize in their own separate groups? I wonder what they would talk about. Who does Henry hang out with?

Twilight then formed a small smile on her face. “Might as well do some research on this place.”

………………………………………………………………………………………………………

As the lunch bell rang, both Henry and Sierra exited the bio lab and went towards the lunch area. Sierra was walking by Henry’s side as she was rummaging through her bag, looking for her favorite snack.

“I thought I was going to starve in there.” moaned Sierra as she continued to look through her bag.

“How were you NOT disgusted by that sheep eye dissection?” asked Henry. “In fact, how is it that you still have your appetite?”

“Hey, once I get something, I stick with it. Physically or mentally. I don’t care how disturbing life can get,” she answered.

“You don’t exactly get an appetite you know.”

“You know what I mean.”

After a while, she finally found what she was looking for. She yanked out a small plastic bag filled with tiny bell peppers. Her mouth just watered from the sight of it.

“Aw, hell yeah,” she spoke softly. Sierra opened the plastic bag and picked out a yellow pepper. She then took a big bite out of the vegetable with a satisfied face.

“Also, how is it that you can eat that without screaming in pain?” Henry wondered as she finished her first pepper.

“Hey, bell peppers are sweet. You’re probably thinking of chili peppers. Those little bastards will make anyone scream. Or maybe, just you.”

“Hey, I can handle spicy foods. Maybe you should-“

“HALT!”

Henry and Sierra stopped their traces to see someone standing in front of them, with his right hand held out.

This guy in front of them had a dark, muscular appearance. For one thing he had big, spiky, black hair with a small ponytail sprouting from the back of his head. He had pale skin and he sported a long dark gray coat with a violet shirt underneath, along with black jeans and black boots. The thing that was hard to point out, but equally noticeable, was the beaded necklace he had around his neck.

“Not one step further,” demanded the guy, who had a surprisingly deep voice. There was long pause between the group, but then…….

“Until I receive one of those bell peppers!” he proclaimed.

“Goddammit, Clyde,” Sierra chuckled. “I told you, these babies are mine. Nobody can eat my babies!” she finished as she held her bag close to her chest.

“One day I shall taste one, or my name isn’t, Clyde Takashi!” he declared.

“No way! Go eat your own babies!” Sierra retorted playing along.

“Never!”

“So, you just got out of Drama, Clyde?” Henry asked, breaking their game.

“I did. On our way to our usual spot, Hirota?” Clyde asked.

“Yep,” he answered as they continued to walk down the hallway. The trio managed to get in line, buy their lunch, and made their way to their usual spot which was a small, rectangular, blue table outside of the cafeteria and near the school entrance. It was also near the quad where Henry first found Twilight.

“Do you think Kawada will be joining us today?” wondered Clyde as he carried his pizza on his tray.

“Axel? I don’t know actually. You know how he is sometimes, he comes and goes whenever he wants,” Henry answered, carrying a chicken sandwich.

“I’ll say...” Sierra chuckled, carrying a hamburger and her bell peppers.

“Don’t.” muttered Henry as he understood what Sierra was saying.

They made their way towards their lunch table, when they noticed two people already sitting there. Two sophomores, a boy and a girl, who looked like twins.

“Looks like Thomas and Reza beat us to it,” mentioned Sierra as she pointed to the two.

They looked like complete counterparts of each other. Thomas had short blue hair, with a white short-sleeve shirt and black pants. On the other hand, Reza had long blue hair, along with a white long-sleeve shirt and black short shorts. They were on close terms with Henry and his group and like to hang out with them every now and then, especially during lunch. The trio finally made it to the table and took their seats. Henry and Clyde sat next Reza while Sierra sat next to Thomas.

“Hey, glad you guys could make it.” Thomas greeted cheerfully.

“Hello to you too, Ikeda and Ikeda,” Clyde replied, calling them by their last names in his deep voice.

“We always come here for lunch, Thomas.” Sierra mentioned.

“Took you guys long enough.” complained Reza.

“C’mon, the line was really long.” Henry said.

“Why don’t you guys ever bring lunch from home? That way, you don’t have to wait an hour just to get some stinking food.” suggested Reza.

“Because we’re too tired and lazy in the morning to care,” joked Henry.

“Sounds like something you would do,” laughed Thomas.

As they were talking and joking around, Henry felt something poke him on his left shoulder. He turned around to see who it was.

“Hey, Henry!” Twilight greeted.

“Hey, Twilight,” he responded, and then glass shattered all around him. “Twilight?!”

Oh crap! What is she doing here?
