Prologue: Faithful Student Twilight Sparkle
Many adventures await in the life at Canterlot's Academy School of Magic. There are many things to learn and tons of people to meet. My name is Twilight Sparkle and I attend to Celestia's school of magic. I'm Princess Celestia's most faithful student here in the academy. My friends Pinkie Pie, RainbowDash, AppleJack, Fluttershy, Rarity, and pet Spike also enrolled to the school. Life here is difficult at times, but me and my friends manage.
My story begins on a calm summer day. It was the annual School of Magic's Entrance Ceremony. At the time, Princess Celestia had invited me to enroll. That day was special to me. It marked the end of my boring life back home and opened a gate way to an exciting world in Canterlot. At the time, the entrance ceremony was on the day of Princess Celestia's Summer Sun Celebration. When i first saw the Celebration before I enrolled, my life changed forever.
The ceremony was about to begin as the sun began to rise. The carnival was empty as everypony gathered towards the stage. There stood my future mentor, Princess Celestia. She opens her beautiful stainless wings and flying towards the sky along the red burning sun. In a blind light, the whole sky turns crimson and a bright array of warm colors. I was speechless as I stares the fascinatingly beautiful array of colors.
The Color were beautiful and nothing that i ever seen before. The majestic form Princess Celestia performed was flawless...I then decided to myself. What if I could learn magic...I am a unicorn after all. That was when I decided to learn magic.
I spent weeks learning magic. I searched every book I had and read every theory on magic. My parents decided to enroll me to Canterlot's Academy School of Magic. Back then I was so blissful during the entrance ceremony. I stood in a crowd of ponies facing towards a decorated stage in the courtyard. I was overjoyed with excitement until a strange pony next me greeted me.
"Ohhh Helllo! My name is Pinkamena Diane Pie, but you can call me Pinkie Pie! Whats yours?"
"My-my name?", giving an awkward expression, "My name is Twilight, Twilight Sparkle."
"Ahhh nice NICE! That is a very-Nice-Nice! You know what this ceremony needs!"
"I don't know... what?"
"A Party! Party! Party!", exclaim Pinkie as she bounces in place.
Pinkie Pie wasn't an average pony. Her body shade was pink as her mane was a bubblegum pink. Her mane was twisted and curled as she jingles and shuffles in place.
"So why did you enrole into the academy Twilight? Huh! HUH!?"
"Well.. I want to fully understand and learn magic."
"Wow.... that sounds boring. I'm here because I can party on Friday nights and do special magic tricks."
Before I could say anything else the ceremony began
"Welcome young students", Princes Celestia proclaims in a calm soft voice.
"We will like to welcome you to Canterlot's Academy School of Magic."
Everypony in the crows began to cheer as several were jumping, like Pinkie...
"We will like to acquaint you to the school by introducing one of our number one students, Trixie."
A pony with a strange magician hat and teal apparel appeared on the stage. She walked proudly towards the intercom and shouted in an ignorant tone,
"I am the great and powerful Trixie the Beatrix! I am the number one student in this school."
Everypony in the crowd stared towards the boastful pony.
"Pfft...Welcome to the Academy, but before you can enter you must be tested in an entrance exam...that was totally easy for me. Good luck new ponies."
After I heard those words I was scared senseless. I didn't know there was an entrance exam...
What kind of test could it be? What if my magic isn't good enough? Those were fearful questions I had in my head inside the line of the entrance exam. When it was my turn, I was scared senseless. Inside the room were four executor ponies. They all had an annoyed look and a serious expression.
"Ms. Sparkles, you may now begin with the test", the main tester explains.
Instantly, a pony pushed a cart out. There laid a violet egg with essence of green. I stared towards the eggs with disbelief and attempted to hatch it. I was struggling, my horn was only giving out sparks. The tester looked towards me with an agitated look. I was frightened so I focused all my magic towards my horn and then suddenly... I felt a great sense of power. Unrelenting power...UNLIMITED POWER! My magic and my powers were beyond my comprehension. I notice during this surge the eggs hatches, but I couldn't perceive anything else, but POWER.
Everything started to turn fade away... I saw nothing put blank darkness and tremendous forces inside my body. I heard screaming and debris explosions around me... but before anything horrible happened, Princess Celestia was able to calm me down. I stared away from the alicorn in embarrassment, but she looked deeply into me.
"You have such an amazing gift. I want you to be my student so we can exercise how to control your magic."
I couldn't believe my ears... Princess Celestia... Princess of the Sun and Equestria... asking me to be her student. I danced around with joy and excitement. The days here is going to be great!
SubPrologue: First Days of Days
My first days of school was the craziest experience I've ever part taken in.
Since I was Princess Celestia's personal student, I've advanced to the mastery class courses. Everypony, especially the great and powerful Trixie, knew about it. Also... it was the first time I met all my friends.
It was a bright and warm summer's day and I was heading towards my assigned dorm.
Dorm 69... I have to find dorm 69.
After searching around the school I walk up to find a tall refined building with a banner spelling out LIBRARY: Dorm 69.
At first I was confused so I walked up towards the door and with a knock-knock a pink pony answered the door.
"OHH HELLOOO! HUUH IT'S YOU TWILIGHT!", squealing to herself "I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE GOING TO COME TO THE PARTY!"
"The party...? No Pinkie I'm here because they told me this was going to be my dorm...", but before I could finish Pinkie pulled me inside. Dragging me across the floor exclaiming,
"OHH YOU MUST BE MY NEW ROOMMATE! HERE LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO EVERYPONY!"
Before I could argue I was in an open room filled with four other ponies. One pony was wearing a ten gallon hat eating an apple. Another pony with an extraordinary rainbow mane stopped exercising to stare towards me. Far across the room was a beautiful dressed pony fixing her mane and behind a couch hid a pretty pony with pink smooth silky hair.
"HEY GUYs-GUYS! THIS IS OUR NEW ROOMMATE!"
Everypony in the room stopped and turned their heads to glance towards me. Awkward about the whole ordeal, I glanced away and explained,
"My name is Twilight Sparkle, I'm going to be living here."
The pony with the rainbow mane replied,
"Huh... are you the same Twilight Sparkle who passed all the classes to mastery?"
"Umm.. yeah... I'm Princess Celestia's student."
"Well I'll be", responded the country filly "You can call me AppleJack."
"You can call me Rainbow Dash. I'm the extremest pony here!", exclaims the rainbow mane Pony.
Across the room the Fancily dressed pony elegantly explains,
"Ahh darling~, you can call me Rarity."
Rainbowdash pulls the pony from behind the couch, dragging her to the middle of the room. Her expression was innocent and shy. She glance away towards Twilight then quietly says,
"Um.. My name is... Fluttershy."
"Well since you are our new roommate I reckon we should show you your bedroom with Pinkie", explains Applejack as she walks down the hall with me following. Inside the room was painted a very vivid pink. The beds were made of marble and had gold trimming. The bed's blinds were decorated in a delicate fade of white.Furniture and other necessities were near by.
I walked inside with Applejack leading. Pinkie was hopping behind us shouting,
"DO YOU LIKE IT? DO-YOU LIKE IT? I decorated it myself!"
"Well.. Pinkie. It doesn't look boring", giving an unsure answer.
"Well Twilight I reckon you better unpack quickly. Class is about to begin", as the AJ left the room.
My first class in this school was quite interesting. I walking down the hall were I finally reached my class, R-34. I gave a knock and the teacher greeted me.
"Ahh Twilight good to see you could make it", Princess Celestia says inviting me inside.
I walked towards the front of the class. I knew in my mind every elite pony was here. I look towards the back were I saw Trixie. She stared back towards me with an annoying look and glances away. Celestia trots over to were I am standing and explains, "Class, this is our new student, Twilight Sparkle. She will be joining us today."
Shyly, I sat close to the front. During the lesson, a pony to my right was staring towards me. He was an average pony, a grey coat and a white mane with essence of teal. He wore long leather gloves and steel boots stretching from his hoof towards his knees. He glances back and forth from the board giving off a curious expression. After a couple of hours later Princess Celestia ended the lesson.
"Okay class, I'll give you time to review today lessons. Now... partner up in pairs of two."
Everypony in the class started shuffling around. I sat in my seat nervously, as the pony staring towards me walks up towards me with an enthusiastic expression.
"Excuse me", he said in a gentle tone "May I be your partner?"
"Um... Ye-es of course... My name is Twilight."
"Ahh my name in Dimitri Takegami. Nice to meet you."
"Ahh its nice to meet you too Dimitri."
Dimitri scoots the desks in a position were Twilight and him are face to face.
"So Twilight what is your mastery technique?"
"My mastery what?", I asked looking awkwardly stupid.
"Your mastery technique. You know, it's the reason your in this class. Everypony in this class has a special technique they advanced with."
I broke my stare towards Dimitri to scan everypony in the class and back towards him.
"Well.. I don't know what I can say. I'm assuming magic."
"Magic huh? That's pretty broad don't you say?", as he chuckles to himself.
"Well what is your mastery technique then?"
"Ohh I'm an alchemist. I can't process magic well so I practiced Alchemy."
"Wow that's amazing, I only seen a few alchemists in Equestria."
He blushes to say, "Well yeah... It was something I preferred then magic. Hey, if you need help with your magic my friend can help you."
"Okay thanks, but who's your friend?", I asked taking a pencil and paper out.
"Ohh his name is Harry Potter, but now that I think about it you might be smart enough to teach him!", as he laughs to himself and finishing with a big grin on his face.
Before I knew what happened next, Trixie was standing above me giving me a cold glare. I stared back at her and felt frightened. "Did I do something to make her mad?", I thought.
"Umm... Is there something I can help you with Trixie."
"Yes. Yes there is Twilight. I heard your conversation across the room and I came over here to congratulate you."
"... uh for what?",
"For being an ass." Everyone in the run started gasping and looked towards us.
"I mean really? Mastery technique for just magic? That's just plain ridiculous! If anyone here is the mastery technique of magic it is me, Trixie the great Beatrix!", she says as she lifts both of her hooves in the air.
"Oh come on Trixie", Dimitri staring towards the boastful pony "Twilight just enrolled her she doesn't know her mastery technique yet. May I remind everyone how you recieve your mastery technique...assistant?"
Trixie looks flustered and retorts, "Oh shutup! You Magic ZERO! You couldn't even perform the magic spell of a young foal!"
"You ass! You should be grateful your in this class, not boastful about it!", Dimitri shouts as he stands up.
" I don't understand Dimitri. Why are you protecting this worthless pony?", Trixie exclaims glaring deeply into Dimitri "It is because of Celestia's special treatment she gave you? For having almost no magi...", but she was cut off as Dimitri slaps her with his glove.
Shocked, Trixie bitterly says, "So it's a duel you want? So be it", as she storms off outside class.
I sat frozen in my seat... Dimitri had challenged Trixie into a duel because of me. I didn't think I looked solemn, but Dimitri gave a sad expression. He puts back on his glove and sits back down facing towards me.
"I'm sorry you had to see that. I mean... it's not your fault. We been fighting for quite some time."
"I'm sorry to here Dimitri... Is there anything I could do?"
"Well nothing much, I guess just show up to the duel after class."
Dimitri pulled his desk back to his spot as Princess Celestia walked back inside class.
"Okay you Magic Zero let's see what you got!", exclaimed Trixie.
The dueling court that the school provided was very impressive. It was a large arena ring that had two rows of seats lined around the whole arena. Trixie stood at one end while Dimitri stood at the other. Trixie was giving off a big grin as she was fixing her Magician's hat. Dimitri had put on a satchel and he replaced his right glove with a metal gauntlet. Almost everyone in the school came to watch. I was sitting in the crowd with my roommates by me.
"So darling, he is fighting for you right? That is charming~", Rarity says as she sits gracefully.
I didn't answer, my eyes were clued towards the arena.
"I'm ready when you are Trixie!", as Dimitri makes a fighting stance.
"Your move Zero."
Dimitri's right gauntlet glows as a metallic ball of sparks began to form from Dimitri's hoof. He runs and throws it straight towards Trixie. Trixie ducks and dodges the flying lighting bolt as it zips past her body. Trixie then concentrates her magic into her horn. It began to glow rapidly and a plasma shape began to form. Reacting quickly, Dimitri places a ritual circle into the ground. Trixie's horn explodes as a magic shot that almost looked like a shoot star was sent flying across the arena. Dimitri activates the circlet and a rock wall erupts from the ground. The star missile explosions against the wall, sending debris everywhere.
"Nice move Dimitri, but your going have to do better than that."
"My pleasure!", retorts Dimitri as he leans forwards activating a circle on the bottom of his hooves. An explosion of rocks and debris sent Dimitri flying across the arena. His hoof began to glow as he activate a second seal allowing his right gauntlet to grow into a giant fist. Trixie uses her magic to extend her cape and mirror reflect the oncoming fist, propelling both of them in the opposite directions.
"Too bad you have no magic Dimitri. Maybe you would of learned repent. It prove useful again unrelenting force."
Speaking of which... Dimitri swallows his breathe and shouts, "FUS-RO-DAH!"
A cosmic force flew across the arena towards Trixie. Instantly, Trixie throws her hat with magical energy. The forces collide repelling each other as the hat returns to its owner.
"Huh Dimitri, I didn't think you be smart enough to even know what is the dragon language."
"Heh I learned some from Steven Magnet", as he prepares another circlet.
"Hehe.. FEIM-ZII-GRON!", shouts Trixie as her body is in engulfed in a blue aura.
"I am Trixie the Beatrix... Lets see what you got Dimitri."
"I'll will win!", as Dimitri activates the circlet on his back sprouting wings from parts of his satchel.
They both shout, "WULD-NAH-KEST!" as they zip towards the metal causing a wind to up roar the arena as both of them stalled in the middle. Trixie was blocking Dimitri's fist with her horn as Dimitri was struggling to go through.
"Why don't you give up Dimitri, you know I'm the stronger magician here."
"Mare fucker!", as Dimitri's elbow explodes from a ritual circle and sends Trixie straight into the ground, but was in vain as she lifts her head from the dragon shout from earlier.
"You think you can defeat me Dimitri? You are sadly mistaken!", as her horn cause an sonic boom disorienting reality a bit. I lost my stare towards the arena and when I glanced back a new person was in the arena. Trixie had transformed into an alicorn with stripe stocking and a joker's cap. In her mouth was a double sided scythe pointing in opposite directions.
"Now shall we began Dimitri?"
People in the crowd were cheering, but I worried about Dimitri... what is this new form Trixie had? After thinking to myself carefully I looked back to see smoke, debris, and explosions coming from the ring. Dimitri and Trixie were moving so fast I couldn't keep my eye on the both of them. Then suddenly there was a gigantic eruption in the ground. After the smoke cleared, I starred in horror as Dimitri was almost lifeless in the ground. Trixie placed her hoof on his throat, choking him.
"HEY WAIT isn't that going too far!?", I yelled towards the arena.
"Darling don't you know the rules of a duel, it's a fight to the death."
"TO THE DEATH?", I exclaimed. I ran towards the stands into the arena.
"Ohhh? What's this? you really think you can beat me? That's rich!", laughs Trixie as Dimitri is choking on her foot.
"Enough Trixie your going to far!"
"Ohhh I'm soo scared~ Whos going to stop me!?!"
"REPENT!", I shouted as a ball of light strikes squarely into Trixie's face igniting her head. Trixie cries in agony and relinquishes the fire.
"You will pay for that you worthless ass!", as Trixie threw her scythe spinning towards Twilight.
I concentrated all my energy into my horn and slowed the spinning tornado into a halt. I started feeling a surge of power and pushed the Scythe back towards Trixie, but she jumps over the projectile and watches it in midair throwing it a second time with a trail of shooting stars. I stood in place preparing to block the oncoming weapon, but then suddenly behind me Trixie dropped kicked me onto the floor.
"Ohh? What's the matter? Am I too clever?", as she stomps onto my body.
"Ohh did that hurt? Maybe I should stomp HARDER!"
I was losing my mind, I was close to the breaking point like during the entrance exam...but I don't want to berserk in front of all my new friends.... I have to think of something and my wish came true. Dimitri was standing behind Trixie with a holographic circlet in his hoof. There I saw a spinning vortex of air forming in his hooves.
"HA-DOU-", shouts Dimitri as Trixie starts turning her head to around to see him. "-KEN!!!!!!"
Dimitri unleashes the air vortex and hits Trixie straight into the the stomach. She gave out a cry of agony as she is hurled into the wall erupting an explosion of debris and litters of stones falling across the arena. A couple of seconds later, the smoke from the creator cleared and there laid Trixie unconscious. I stagger to the floor saying, "This fight is over", as I get knock out in the middle of the arena
"Yo Twilight, Twilight...I guess she aint waking yet. I reckon yall we try later."
"I don't know maybe some extreme procedure will wake her up."
"Darling does every solution you have always have to do something with extreme?"
"Maybe.... telling her a bedtime... story could help", squeaked Fluttershy.
"HEY HEY HEY QUIET-QUIET SHE'S WAKING UP!"
I open my eyes and I see my Roommates huddled around my bed inside the dorm.
I croaked lisping, "How l-long w-was I knocked out?"
"I don't know sugar, for about 2-3 days tops. After the fight you been knocked out cold."
"W-here's Dimitri?"
"I don't know darling why don't you ask him yourself", as the rest of the ponies giggle trotting out the room. There stood Dimitri, he had bandages all over his body and neck cast.
"So Twilight how are you doing?"
"Not so well. It doesn't look like your doing very much either."
Dimitri gave out a hearty laugh and says,
"Well as for Trixie, if your wondering, shes still alive in her room as well."
I let out a groan, but I was relieved that Dimitri didn't kill anypony."
"Twilight I like to thank you for helping me in the fight."
"Thank me? It was mostly you. I should be thanking you Dimitri."
"Heh... well Twilight I'll see you around, class is going to start soon."
"Yeah lets get going!"
This school year was going to be a blast!
Chapter 1: Dragon Melancholy
"Would you like some more tea Twilight?", asked Celestia as she sips her cup.
"I would love to have some Princess Celestia", as she pours tea into my cup.
It was a bright and sunny day outside the balcony of Princess Celestia's quarters. The sun shining brightly as the sky reflect the blue Equestrian seas from the distance. The wind was calm and settle as I sip into my elegant cup looking towards my novel.
"So Twilight how are your studies coming along?"
"It's going along great! I was able to learn every shout in the Dragon language and every magic spell in existence."
"Oh very nice Twilight. Bravo!", claps Princess Celestia as she continues to sip her tea.
"Twilight I have something important to tell you."
"What is the matter Princess?"
"You have out grown your studies and its time for to move on past the Academy."
I sprayed all my tea out of my mouth and looked towards Celestia.
"Twilight it's time for you to move on...Move on...Move on", chants Celestia as she turns into a tentacle monster gripping her limbs on to me. I was surprised and I couldn't breathe. "It's time for you to go Twilight... Twilight.... TWILIGHT!", exclaims pinkie hung over my bed.
"Wake up silly class is going to stand soon, you don't wanna be late don't you?"
"Ohh... Argh.. hold on Pinkie I'll be right there."
I get up from the bed stared towards the ground, thinking to myself, "That.. was a horrible dream... What if I do... Dang it Twilight it's only your second year calm down....there's still time here left..." I hop from the bed and get ready for class.
I walked towards my old classroom. Nothing has changed much ever since the summer vacation and I don't expect anything less. I walked into class R-34 and there is the end of the front rows was Dimitri. Last year he saved me from Trixie's wrath in the school's arena. The rest of the school year after that was quite interesting the fact we were both handicapped. During those months I had sessions with Princess Celestia, she was the best teacher I ever had.
I walked into the classroom and sat next to Dimitri, he was giving off a big grin.
"Hey Twilight...let's hope this year there won't be any duels don't you think?", as he chuckles to himself.
"Hey Dimitri... yeah let's hope that never happens again."
"Lighten up Twilight, I hear Trixie left the school to go on the road for some stupid magic show or something."
"Hehe yeah that would be actually more fitting for her...", reminding myself of last night's dream.
"So Dimitri how was your summer?"
"Ehh nothing much, I traveled to Dragon Mountain to learn more of the dragon language. I know more shouts now. Almost seven different shouts!"
"Wow Dimitri that's amazing... I was only able to learn four because my pet Spike needed to be taken care of."
"Ah... don't worry I'll teach them to you sometime", as he gives off a gentle smile towards me.
I blush glancing away as Princess Celestia came in to teach the class.
After class Celestia and I went to her quarters for our routine private sessions. Princess Celestia is really is a powerful pony. She was able to teach me how to control mana through my horn and also my hooves. I trotted inside first with Princess Celestia behind me.
"Twilight how are your studies during the summer?"
"I'm doing very well Celestia, but I was only able to learn four dragon shouts due to my pet Spike."
"Ahh I see dragon trouble?", as Celestia prepares the tea.
"Yeah he's acts like a foal and it takes a long time to calm him down."
"Ah... as for me I also have quite a Dragon problem myself."
"What do you mean princess?"
"Well you see..", but she was cut off a shadow figured appear at the door. The figure moved quickly inside and in front of me. I flinched and I glance back to find an oddly shaped dragon. He had many different animal parts as limbs and he looked a bit crazy. The dragon gave off a big grin saying,
"Oh what do we have here. I see this is your little student her Celestia", as he pokes my head with his finger"
"She's cute and adorable", as the lofty dragon passionately snuggling towards Celestia "But not as adorable as you my Princess", as Celestia chuckles to herself on the caressing dragon.
"Twilight I like you to meet Discord", as I stared towards discord with a blank expression.
"My name is Discord, I am the dragon of chaos and calamity", as he takes a bow.
"Um... Nice to meet you Discord...."
"Sorry Twilight, but me and discord are going to have a walk in the garden. We can have our session in another time though."
"B-but Princess!", I retorted, but too late as the odd couple already left the room...
